Poll: Not Many Americans Think Gun Control is the Most Important Problem
Economic issues are what many think are important
(CNSNews.com) – Only 4 percent of Americans think guns and gun control are an important problem facing the country, according to Gallup, and far more Americans are concerned about the economy, unemployment and the federal debt.

The poll did not ask Americans about what they think constitutes "an important problem". The poll asked "What do you think is the most important problem facing the country today?" (Emphasis mine.) It's possible?even probable?to think guns are an important problem but not the most important problem.
I'm as pro-gun as people come, but please be intellectually honest.
