Wisconsin Nuclear Plant to Close Next Year
Buyer could not be found
CARLTON, Wis. — Kewaunee Power Station nuclear plant will close in six months because a buyer could not be found, a spokesman for the owner Dominion Resources said Monday.
The cost of electricity was a factor in the decision to close the plant here, which employs 650 people. The site eventually will be returned to its natural state although that is expected to take decades.
Kewaunee County officials say the closure will have an economic impact that ripples beyond the county.
