Two 9/11 Videos Worth Watching, Plus Reason Coverage Over the Years.

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C.

Reason started covering the event as it happened (go here for our early dispatches) and below are two videos about the aftermath of the event.

The first is from last year's 10th anniversary and meditates on New York's particular genius for forward motion no matter what.

And this one, originally released yesterday, features Kennedy in lower Manhattan, talking about the politics and perfidy at the heart of the 9/11 memorial and surrounding area.

I always liked the look of the WTC towers and they're relation to the NYC skyline, and do not much care for the look of the Freedom Tower. Maybe I'll warm to it like the twin towers grew on Nick's old man.

I must say I do like the design of the new Tower. And the giant fountain thingy is pretty cool too.

Bin Laden is buried at Tora Bora where he died in 2001 from kidney disease.

From a purely personal aesthetic point of view, I think removing those towers from the skyline was an improvement. Doing it with people still in them was bad.

My questions are the following: Why is it never okay to forget?
Do we have to carry this grudge around with us for the next 100 or 1000 or 1,000,000 years? What's the point, is the goal just to remember an event that in 200 years will be nothing more than trivia? Does the world not march forever onward when it comes to 9/11?
