Ann Romney Reactions Even Dumber Than the Speech
Peter S. Canellos, Boston Globe:
Ann Romney was so good that the opera was effectively over before the fat man sang.
Larry Womack, Huffington Post:
"If you called your dad," he points out, "he could stop it all." Still, she persists.
John Dickerson, CBS:
If Mitt Romney's problem is that voters don't think he's authentic enough, listening to a woman testify to her authentic adoration certainly conveys authenticity on the object of her devotion.
Alessandra Stanley, New York Times:
The adversity she glossed over with such poise was hers to overcome, not his; her energetic, excited performance highlighted her appeal even more than his steadfastness.
@billmaher:
Loved #AnnRomney's speech especially the part about how Mitt can't release taxes cuz her horse ate them. And then Christie ate the horse.
Pamela, CommonSeniority.com:
Come on, Ann, you are totally ignoring those of us who also work hard to pay our mortgages and our local taxes to support education, and contribute to the children in our lives, those of us who participate and support our community to make it a safe and good place to live, who worry about our parents, siblings and nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. No words of encouragement or any acknowledgment at all??
Sara Gaynes, Boston Herald:
Signs are good so far for the former first lady of Massachusetts, who's wowed fans with her classic style.
Molly Ball, Atlantic:
The candidate's wife wore a high-necked, belted red satin dress and clasped both hands to her face, briefly, emotionally. She spoke quickly and a bit softly at first, punctuated with a nervous laugh. "I love you WOM-en!" she cried, with a distinctly Oprah-ish lilt. "And I hear your voices!"
Maressa Brown, The Stir:
No doubt about it, people. Mitt Romney must have gotten the memo that he needs the lady vote, and he'll stop at nothing to attain it!
Paul Mirengoff, PowerLine:
The first part of her speech was a bit too "female chauvinist" for me. But then, it wasn't addressed to me.
Update. Pantith News makes a recondite find, which seems to have something to do with gold-medal-winning pugilist and Garfield High graduate Oscar De La Hoya:
Ann Romney made her grand entrance at the Republican National Convention last night in a bright red silk taffeta dress by Oscar de la Renta, a particularly dramatic choice because he has never been worn by Michelle Obama during her tenure as first lady. In fact, Michelle has ignored de la Renta to the point where he has expressed some grumpiness about her style choices, even admitting that he was "dying of jealousy" when she wore a Peter Soronen dress to the Governors Ball in 2010.

AHAHAHAHAHA! BILL MAHER IS A COMIC GENIUS! LULZ TO INFINITY!
So original. So hilarious. We are blessed to have him.
His audience laughed. Then again, they'd laugh if he read the Yellow Pages.
Not when he got to the Bushes.
Christopher Hitchens' finest moment: Flipping off a Bill Maher studio audience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYF1iy1_-vc
It's funny how the left has gone straight to the personal attack. This was something I was told was wrong when Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh did it.
When Obama was elected, Bill Maher told us how relieved he was now that the "grownups" were in charge.
If the "grownups" are going to act just like the "children", maybe it's better we just have the children in charge-at least they might be reachable.
Wait, William Shatner is an author?
That's Award winning author to you, Mr. Tangerine Maaaaaaaaan!
Well, not really. I don't give much credit for ghost written novels.
You make it sound like Shatner was lazy. Need I remind you that he was directing The Final Frontier at the time?
Didn't watch it. Didn't need to. Go team blue! Go team Red!
The left sure hates women and minorities who bat for the other side. The shit they spew is dazzling to behold.
Fight the Power! Elvis was a hero to most.
Elvis was a huge Python fan. Discovering that shook my view of reality to its very core.
Well PL, they aren't really "womin".
Granted.
"Vandalism from racist Democrats: Sick: Wikipedia entry calls Mia Love 'dirty, worthless whore' and 'House Nigger.'"

Don't cross the Tolerance Wehrmacht, pal.
The left sure hates women and minorities who bat for the other side.
They just want them to get married and settle down. It's in their own best interests.
If she'd only married the state instead of Romney, her home life without a paying job would have been a praise worthy life style choice.
In all seriousness, I like Shatner's "Common People" best. That really works for some reason I can't fathom.
Simple. Shatner has more charisma than Jarvis Cocker(is that his hame?)
I prefer this youtube version - more Trekkie.

I prefer the Lego version.
And yes, as discussed before, the Shatner version is far superior.
I agree...I love this song when Shatner sing it.
CommonSeniority?
Is that even a thing? When did that become a thing?

I have no idea what the website is, but I have to agree with the above sentiments. I started listening to the speech and just couldn't stand how she was kowtowing to one particular group. It was Oprah-esque, or something the Obamas would do.
I must be something of a masochist, because whatever coverage of yesterday I watched it was on MSNBC just to see Madcow, Lawrence O'Douchel, Chris "I just got a tingle" Matthews, and Ed "can't think of anything clever" Schultz's reactions. Also, how the hell did Al Sharpton get a show on that channel? (last question is rhetorical)
I didn't see Anne's speech but those of you who expect peans to domestic tranquility are fucking nuts. That is not what the job is about, and pretending it is for the politician seeking it is the height of condescension and demanding it as a voter is infantile.

How do you even placate the demands of someone who thinks that? You would have to be able to read her mind just to know what needs to be scratched. Or, you could join Team Blue and then she wont even whimper as you kick her ass and use her back to compose your kill list with a razor blade.
The entire First Lady thing is a nod towards monarchy. WTF do I care about the president's spouse? I don't know the name of my company president's spouse, nor do I care to.
I'm still amazed that Hillary Clinton got into the Senate, ran for president, and got SoS for being First Lady. That's it. That's her experience.
Well, she was awfully good at commodities trading at one time, from what I understand.
She was a decent defense lawyer for the brief time she actually did anything but make rain for her law firm.
That's a qualification? Shit, I'm applying for SoS right now! Mr. Romney, are you reading this?
You got my vote, PL. One day in court you have more experience than Obama. See how his reign has turned out. We're still alive aren't we? Anybody can do it!
Obama, avoided obtaining life experience like a maiden on the open market for rich suitors back in the day would protect their hymens. He must have thought it would compromise his principles and make him impure to mingle in the day to day activities of commerce, or even hold public positions of bearing the onerous of responsibility. That too could sully his purity.
The Left considers community organizing and part time legislating as overwhelming life experience.
That I agree with. No more paid staff and causes coming out of the tax payers wallet, nor inappropriate power exercised from these people (like Michelle's crusade to bully schools into submitting to her dietary demands) who happen to be married to person in office is what we should demand. It is an embarrassing nod to monarchy.
You didn't like the "Common People" joke? Come on!
If Obama called his rich bank VP grandma, he could have made it all stop too. Who gives a crap?
