19 Million Americans Lack Broadband Internet

Apparently the FCC thinks this is a problem it is supposed to fix.

Nineteen million Americans, or 6% of the population, live in areas where high-speed Internet isn't available, according to a report released Tuesday by federal regulators.

Last year, the Federal Communications Commission estimated that 26 million Americans didn't have access to high-speed Internet, but that figure dropped significantly this year after the agency began using more detailed and accurate data provided by the states.

A majority of those who can't get broadband access—some 14.5 million people—live in rural areas where cable-television and other companies that offer high-speed service haven't yet rolled out their wires, the agency said.
