Pennsylvania Town Approves Laziness Fine For Double Parking

Residents could face an additional $100 fine for double parking if a free parking space is nearby.

Double-parking in Allentown is already illegal. But now, if you do it when there's a free spot nearby, you'll be facing even heftier fines.

Allentown City Council unanimously approved a "lazy parker" law tonight that would impose additional penalties for drivers who double park when an open public space is available only a few feet away.

The law, which was proposed by Councilman Peter Schweyer, adds an additional $100 fine in those instances to the original $100 double-parking fine, and includes additional penalties for repeat offenders.
