Tim Cavanaugh on Gingrich's Counterculture McGovernik Ethics: RT Big Picture
The other day an actor friend of mine told me he got a small part in A Streetcar Named Desire.
"That's great," I said. "I heard that's a good show. What's it about?"
"It's about this doctor who takes a crazy lady to a nuthouse," he said.
That's what's going on in this appearance on Thom Hartmann's The Big Picture.
It starts out being about ABC's news ethics in adding the Marianne Gingrich interview to the Public Trust's permanent collection.
For Hartmann, it's about the racial disparities in political sex scandals, as seen in the title of the attached video.
For me, it's all about whether law enforcement agencies should take an interest in whatever erotic refinements Sen. David Vitter (R-Louisiana) may have purchased from another consenting adult.
Maybe Newsweek's Eleanor Clift stays on topic.

Sorry or the interruption, but just wanted to say a few words from the grave.

Was it Brando? It's Brando, isn't it?
Stella!!!!11!
So, this "Bush drinking in the whitehouse" thing. I assume they mean, "Bush drinking too much, making him an alcoholic... while he's in the whitehouse"?
Because why do I care if any president has a Vodka Gimlet at the end of a long day of shredding pocket constitutions from the Cato Institute?
Good comment at 8:18, Tim.
People have literally forgotten (or have never bothered to inform themselves of any news media history) just how sensational (and profit-driven) journalism used to be.
And at the very same time of this sensationalism, tons of valuable news wasn't reported because it wasn't thought to be fit for the tender ears of the public.
Sensationalism drives out real news. The amount of time/space for reporting is finite.
The more you fill it up with dead blondes and celebrity skanks, the less room you have for anything else.
Well, there's sensationalism, and then there's something really, truly horrid that some well-known, powerful public official was connected to, but it wasn't considered 'sporting' to beat up on him.
Eleanor Clift @9:31: A lot of Democrats forgave Bill Clinton for what he did...
Yes, including you every time you opened your mouth on the McLaughlin Group, Ms. Clift.
Is Hartmann one of the worst hosts on tv? Every time I've flipped on his show he takes the discussion of a general topic and drives it to some arcane technicality or minor point and parks it there.
Gutsy to link to the video in a public forum, Tim.
