Arizona Presidential Primary Ballot Includes Matt Welch, But Not Jon Huntsman
Do you know how easy it is to get on the ballot in Arizona? So easy that a candidate "merely had to fill out and submit a simple nomination form." So easy that there are 23 names on the GOP primary ballot. So easy that one of those names is Matt Welch. It's true; right there at #19.
And still Jon Huntsman didn't get on the ballot. That's because the secretary of state (who is an Arizona co-chair of the Romney campaign, go figure!) ruled that the simple nomination form did not have a properly notarized signature. Huntsman is challenging, but it's equally likely that Huntsman's campaign is about to take a dirt-nap.
As for that Welch character, if nominated I will not serve, because I am not now and have never been a Republican. No seriously, it's some dude from Tucson with a P.O. Box. Go get 'em, Matt Welch!

I'M VOTING FOR WELCH!

Why is Milo Bloom pictured above?
Matt, you probably get this all the time, but any relation to (Mythbuster) Adam Savage?
Reply-fail down thread.
Even Matt Welch would benefit from an edit button.
The squirrels bite the hand that feeds them.
I bet Gary Swing wins the Green Party primary.
Holy Crap! I went to high school with that kid. And it's really him! He was always into left-wing politics. He also did every 14er in Colorado.
Too bad for him Paul or Johnson is getting my vote.
14er?
Eighth graders.
Mountain peak over 14,000 feet above sea level. Sort of a merit badge for climbers.
Aaron Ralston (dude who had to cut off his own arm during a hiking accident) claims he was the first to climb all of Colorado's 14ers in winter...
He finished many of the hardest ones after his accident. Badass.
James Blakey! How are you? It's been a long time. What have you been up to?
I expect Jill Stein to win the Arizona Green Party's presidential primary, and ultimately the Green Party's presidential nomination. I entered the primary as part of a "political reality competition" called "Project White House," which is being run by the Tucson Weekly newspaper. The newspaper encourages "ordinary people" to file for the presidential primary. These candidates then run campaigns, many of them satirical, through the newspaper and its website. At least three out of six Green Party candidates and 10 out of 23 Republicans in the primary are "Project White House" contestants.
Most of my family now lives in Tucson, where my parents retired, so when I heard about the Project White House competition, I decided to participate in it.
About the "fourteeners," more than 2,000 people have reported climbing all 54 Colorado summits over 14,000 feet. As of last fall, I was one of only twenty people who had reported climbing all 637 Colorado mountains over 13,000 feet ("thirteeners" and "fourteeners"). Since I finished the thirteeners in 2007, I've also "thru hiked" the 2,175 mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and the 2,660 mile Pacific Crest Trail through California, Oregon, and Washington.
Best wishes,
Gary Swing

2) Nope.

Nice interview, forgot about that one. It's mostly the glasses and hair, but it could be the voice, too.
Myth: busted!
In your heart, you know he's right !!!
ruled that the simple nomination form did not have a properly notarized signature
Based on how unpopular Huntsman is, who would want to pretend to be him? I see him winning his case for that reason alone.
The Huntsman campaign doesnt even have a notary on staff?
The problem may have been that Huntsman signed his name in mandarin.
Matt Welch is the Girl with the Pearl Earring.
I'd vote for Douchey if he'd done something really intellectual. Like, say, co-write a book with a punning title.
Wait, Welch wrote a book with someone?
Yeah, all about the racist comments Ron Paul made about Sarah Palin's global temperature trend updates.
Didn't it have something to do Myth's....
voting for welch
nice post
Is that a picture of Matt Welch? If so, where can I send in my donation for a shampoo and a haircut?
The various problems the R candidates are having in ballot access will certainly spur them to call for, and act, to simplify and change the States' byzantine and exculsionary election rules?
That was a good laugh with my coffee.
If you are too incompetent to get yourself on the ballot and follow the rules for doing so, why is there any reason to believe that you are fit to be President?
You mean, too incompetent to get the Secretary of State as your campaign co-chair?
Another plan by the Kochtopus to derail Ron Paul, this time in Arizona. It's a conspiracy!
This isn't even about Ron Paul. He's doing fine. He'll be on all the ballots because he has such dedicated volunteers.
Kurt Rambis was the glue of the 1980's Lakers, AKA "Showtime". I think he deserves to be on the ballot in AZ.
you are really after huntsman, is he that a much of a threat to RP?
hunstman sounds less socially conservative than him, less creationist, has been gov 2 times, ambassador in china...
of all the candidates he has the more credentials
Yeah, cause we put a LOT of stock on "credentials" around these parts.
Mr. Welch,
You claim that the candidate nomination form was not written by you. Will you explain how your mismanagement allowed this to occur and provide us the name of the author?
If you do not receive the Arizona nomination, will you rule out running as a third party candidate?
hi all
