The Incredible Incompetence of Martha Coakley
The race for Ted Kennedy's Senate seat gets weirder-and tighter-by the hour.
Comrades in the commonwealth of Massachusetts, stay alert for a telephone call from President Barack Obama. He "truly apologize[s] for intruding on your day," but according to recent polls, Republican hopeful Scott Brown has overtaken Democrat Martha Coakley in the race for the state's open Senate seat. So pardon the interruption, but if you don't act now there is a very good chance that a troglodyte Republican will sink ObamaCare.
After an uninspired YouTube endorsement (which looked like a hi-def hostage video) and today's uninspired robocall, Obama, whose own poll numbers are looking Coakley-esque, plans to travel to Massachusetts on Sunday in a risky attempt to save his party's 60-seat Senate majority. Projecting an outward calm—White House spokesman Robert Gibbs confidently told reporters that he "didn't think Brown was going to win"—Democrats are in full panic mode after a Suffolk University poll released yesterday gave Brown a slight edge over Coakley. According to polling wizard Nate Silver, Coakley supporters can pick at pollsters' biases if they desire but, right now, the race is most certainty a toss-up.
How could such a thing happen in Massachusetts, a state so progressive that the Cambridge Bolshevik can purchase the complete works of Josef Stalin and receive training at the Center for Marxist Education within a few short blocks; a state so lefty that, in the 1980s, my hometown of Concord, Massachusetts, became a "sister city" of Sandinista-ruled San Marcos, Nicaragua? What was the Kronstadt moment for my fellow Bay Staters?
Two things: a monstrous health care bill and a candidate almost Dukakis-like in her on-the-trail incompetence.
Coakley's defenders say that a poorly run campaign—and not skepticism of ObamaCare—is driving her poll numbers south. An endless string of gaffes is doubtless adding to her troubles, but there is significant evidence that health care and the prospect of massive budget deficits are more proximate causes. As the Boston Herald noted, that Suffolk University poll also showed "51 percent of voters saying they oppose the 'national near-universal health-care package' and 61 percent saying they believe the government cannot afford to pay for it."
And while they might often act like robots programmed at Democratic National Committee headquarters, Massachusetts voters have reacted negatively to Coakley's stunningly cavalier campaign style. Brian McGrory, a columnist at the Coakley-friendly Boston Globe, accused her of being a "diva" who was dodging debates and skipping the flesh-pressing necessary to win. When asked by the Globe why she wasn't out stumping like Brown, she fired back: "As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?'' When she was a rising star in the D.A.'s office, the Globe admitted, in an otherwise obsequious profile, that she was "Relentless. Icy. Unflappable. Never nice."
In a moment of unconscious channeling of Pete Seeger, Florence Reese, and the East German youth movement, Coakley this week crowed that "Now is the time for Scott Brown to tell us what side he's on" regarding proposed bank fees, adding that "Despite his tea party rhetoric about never supporting a tax hike, the truth is that he has supported more than $300 million in new taxes and fees on middle class families." In an exquisite Palinism largely ignored by the local media, Coakley included visits to her London-based sister in a list of her foreign policy credentials.
So what's wrong with her opponent? Brown, voters are constantly reminded, is a Republican—a foreign virus in the Massachusetts body politic—and his talk of tax cuts echoes rhetoric employed by those mad Tea Party rubes. When he isn't conspiring with the knuckle-draggers, Brown is spending time at one of his "five properties," which includes an Aruba timeshare valued between $10,000 and $20,000. It's more than a little bizarre to accuse Brown of being too rich, too bourgeois, to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat.
As for Coakley's record as a prosecutor and district attorney, it inspires even less confidence in Massachusetts voters. As the head of a child abuse and sex crimes unit and later as district attorney, Martha Coakley was a strong proponent of using discredited techniques of "recovering memory" of past child abuse.
As a result, innocent men like Gerald Amirault, a former daycare operator who, along with his mother and sister, was accused of molesting children in his care, was released a long 18 years after his conviction. Wall Street Journal writer Dorthy Rabinowitz, who won a Pulitzer Prize for her reporting on the Amirault case, wrote that after coaching by therapists, "Mrs. Amirault was accused of raping a child with a magic wand, of assaulting another sexually with a large butcher knife, Gerald of abusing children in a magic room while dressed as a clown, and Cheryl of similar unspeakable violations." After the case collapsed, and long after the family had been convicted, Coakley personally lobbied then-Governor Jane Swift to block Gerald Amirault's release.
While the Amirault case has received the most coverage, there's also the case of Ray and Shirley Souza, who were accused of molesting both their children and grandchildren. As with the Amarault case, no credible physical evidence existed of sexual assault—but that didn't stand in the way of the hyper-ambitious Coakley. "What we have are 6- and 7-year-old female children testifying credibly about incidents in the recent past." Those credible incidents included being forced to drink a "green potion" before being inappropriately touched, being molested by a giant robot, and Ray Souza putting his head in his granddaughter's vagina and "wiggling" it around.
The Amiraults and Souzas were railroaded; their lives were ruined. Coakley, always forthright about her political ambitions (in 2004, she announced that she would seek Sen. John Kerry's seat if he won the presidency), stands by her overzealous prosecutions and defends the convictions. When asked about the bizarre and incredible tales "recovered" by the Souza grandchildren, Coakley offered this curious defense of the prosecutions: "Kids cannot fabricate a comprehensive lie about putting their fingers in their grandmother's vagina and say it feels slimy and tell that to an interviewer and say it in court again six months later."
A decade ago, Coakley told The Boston Globe that if her political career were to flame out she would likely "retire to Martha's Vineyard and write murder mysteries." On Friday, liberal journalist Steve Kornacki reported that Coakley's own internal polling shows Brown with a three-point lead. I eagerly await Coakley's literary debut.

That's prepostrous!
The approved phrasing is "Are you serious?"
Hey how you doin' you ass munching fuckwad!
A Will-troll!
(which looked like a hi-def hostage video)
The flag pin is his "duress" signal.
It should have been upside-down.
Oh, you think so? Who gives a fuck?
Hmm, so Will-troll doesn't have a sense of humor.
Good evening, Reason!
Ugh. Whatever Mr. Brown's faults may be, if MA voters can't divine that he is an infinitely better choice than the frighteningly-dangerous Ms. Coakley...well, unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised. They did re-elect Teddy K. repeatedly - on purpose - multiple times. Ugh...
Yeah, but the drunk you know...
Fair point
Not to mention the homicdal maniac you know (yeah, yeah I know it was on manslaughter)
Infinitely better? This is a guy who voted for Massachusetts' RomneyCare. All it will take for him to vote yay on ObamaCare is a minor change somewhere so he can keep face.
Besides, he's not even going to be seated in time for the vote. So the "conservatives" will have elected a tax-raising spendthrift all for nothing.
he has built his whole campaign around opposing obamacare - I have no reason to believe he wont join the republicans in blocking this drivel without compromise. He may have voted for romneycare - no one is perfect, but he is measurably more perfect than coakley
"more perfect"?
If that grammatical structure is okay for the Founding Fathers ("A More Perfect Union...") than it's okay for Reason!
"Than" it's okay?
Than and only than is it OK.
Wasn't that Lincoln?
Lincoln is Mika Brzezinski's favorite Founding Father.
http://hotair.com/archives/201.....ng-father/
And if Mika can claim Lincoln as her favorite Founding father I have just as much right to claim Lysander Spooner as mine.
http://mises.org/rothbardintros/spooner.asp
Besides, he's not even going to be seated in time for the vote. So the "conservatives" will have elected a tax-raising spendthrift all for nothing.
If a Republican who ran against health care reform wins in Massachusetts there is no way the democrats will pass it. They will be scared shitless.
Never underestimate the stupidity of Democrats....or Republicans.
That's right! If Massachusetts won't elect Ayn Rand (or Pat Buchanan, depending on your taste), then the hell with it, let them send a Commie to the Senate. It won't make a lick of difference!
Are you comparing Brown to Ayn Rand? or are you replying to someone else? For the record, if I lived in Mass. I would vote for Brown in this election. His possible role in defeating health care deform is too important to ignore.
If he wins it will be almost as monumental as when Obama won.
I have my doubts, but the scramble to get health care through and any subsequent stalling of getting him into Congress if he wins would be a nail in the coffin.
I don't think he can do it though. The full force of the DNC is in Mass and they are there for blood.
As someone on another thread pointed out (John, I think,) even if he doesn't win it will give the Democrats pause when voting for the healthcare bill; they have to know that Brown has come as close as he comes because of the electorate's opposition to it. I'd bet even money that one or two Democrat Reps or Senators will reconsider their votes - if not change them.
Oh, they are not quitters.

"In an exquisite Palinism largely ignored by the local media, Coakley included visits to her London-based sister in a list of her foreign policy credentials."
How exactly is this a "Palinism?" Without Palin McCain's loss would have been much larger. A lot of people who pulled the lever for the GOP ticket in 2008 did so because of Palin. Not the Bob Dole from Vietnam.
It's not like Coakley said she could SEE London from her house
Did Palin say that or did an actress on SNL say that? Some people seem to merge the two and not distinguish. There is a difference.
Yeah, Palin is better-looking.
Perhaps you like Brown's image a little better, because Palin, while a very hot pol, has nothing on Tina Fey...Now, whether Tina will look as good as Palin when she hits Palin's age, that's another story...
Sarah Palin is gorgeous while Tina Fey is ugly. Fey looks like Elvis Costello.
No wonder your so wrong on the Middle East. You are blind.
"There's no need to fear. Underzog is here!"
Would you rather do Tina Fey or live in Gaza? Wait, don't answer that, I already know the answer.
Fag.
The previous comment was in response to Undermoob, not MNG.
Goddamn Indent Limit.
I'd rather be but raped by Hamas in Gaza than do Tina Fey.
Her last name isn't "Fey" for no reason - dictionary definition "doomed; fated to die."
IIRC Tina Fey used to be the pudgy frumpy girl that got hot, so given that trendline chances are she's gonna be smokin' when she's Palin's age.
I'd have to go with Palin now and then. Fey tries too hard to play nrrd girl and fails.
I thought you were into the transgender pre-op Irish-Scot midget wrestler with a harelip, cleft palate and wooden leg type.
I also like pie.
American?
Any pie.
Really? I thought I read you enjoy eating a tossed salad.
I was never that good with sauces, dressings, and rabbit food. I'm more of a meat and potatoes person.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm, Pi.
Right, she said she could see foreign-looking people from her sister's house. Hell, screw the Senate, let's make her Sec.of State.
someone's offended ...
I really like Palin and might vote for her for President, but her answer about foreign policy was clearly not one of her best moments.
Oh you do, how interesting. By any chance are you a fuckin' retard.
I really hate Palin and will never vote for her for dog catcher, let alone President, but her foreign policy answer was chopped up to make her seem dumber than she really is.
I'd vote for her if she campaigned naked...or had Tina as her naked running mate...yeah, yeah that's the ticket...Sarah and Tina, naked, running for POTUS/VPOTUS
You would seriously vote for Palin for prez? This country is doomed.
You seriously believe all that shit about Palin?
Why are they allowing you access to a computer in that padded cell of yours? Don't they realize you could hurt yourself?
I'd argue it's much more of a "Obamaism" since we were repeatedly told how his visiting Pakistan (Pock-E-Ston) during his college days made him an expert on foreign policy.
I just got an email from cunt Obama and his fuckbag Biden titled:
"We want our money back"
The temerity of these motherfuckers. I want MY money back. Every goddamn dollar you fuckers have taken from me.
"I want MY money back"
And yet you keep giving it to them...
JB might not want to be thrown in a cage in which he might be raped and or beaten up.
MNG-
Moynihan hit it out of the park on this one. You know that I am not his biggest fan.
People in NY complain about getting mugged too. If they just refused to hand over their money, they wouldn't have a problem.
Yes, yes, but JB is always going on about how tough he is and how he won't take shit from the government and blah blah blah
I will choose the time and place. Not you.
Yeah, yeah, we hear you...
Like we have a choice, MNG.
There are ways...
I agree, but until millions of people start acting on those ways, we're screwed.
Things will eventually come to a head, but I do hope the first shot/swung fist/etc. is perpetrated by someone on the left. If we're going to wind up living in a police state, we at least need to be able to point a finger at the party/ideology who put us there, and Dems are just as capable of instituting martial law as Republicans are.
MNG - the voice of reason.
end sarcasm
Odd, as they are addressing the remark to the banks, who have paid them back already.
Much of the still unrepaid money went to GM and Chrysler. I don't see them demanding THAT money back.
...and especially AIG.
and Fannie and Freddie; we could continue this
Just ask Barney Frank, he'll tell you why Freddie and Fannie execs need to be paid huge bonuses out of the public purse...
You won't like the answer, but at least he'll give one.
Scott Brown cannot possibly be as despicable a human being as Martha Coakley. Not a ringing endorsement, but it should be enough for the Massachusetts voting public to hold its collective nose and vote Republican.
I agree, normally with someone like Brown on the ticket I would vote for the LP candidate but in this case I would hold my nose and vote for the Republican. We need that 41st vote in the Senate to stop health care deform. Vote for gridlock!
Forget "gridlock" Coakley needs to lose as retribution for being such a corrupt DA son of a bitch.
Do you think that the libertarian candidate in the race, Joe Kennedy, would vote for so-called "healthcare reform"? If all you want is a vote against health care reform, cast your ballot for the libertarian guy. If he wins, you'll get that and many more benefits. If the GOP guy wins, you'll get more politics as usual.
When people claim that libertarians are idiots, this is a perfect example of how they're right.
If you're a Libertarian in Massachusetts and actually vote for the libertarian over Scott Brown in this race, you probably should be institutionalized to protect yourself from your own stupidity.
Thanks,
Burt Hoovis,
Libertarian
I hope you sign all correspondance this way.
+1
Nice pun.
"collective nose"? ha ha, missed that.
Nothing for "ringing endorsement" for Obama robocalls? Too obvious?
The Amiraults and Souzas were railroaded; there lives were ruined.
Shouldn't that be their
Maybe he was being poetic, saying that lives were ruined on the railroad.
There, lives, much like buildings, were ruined, much like a train slamming into a building on a train track on a railroad.
Strangely enough, I was watching a Discovery Channel special on the proposed Bering Strait Tunnel and all I could think of was Ayn Rand salivating over politicians and their groupies asphyxiating to death.
Unless Brown wins by a 10% margin the Dems in MA will game the system and force some sort of manual recount that will take until August to delay his entry into the Senate.
First, props must always be accorded to those who deserve them. Moynihan is spot on with this race and Marthe Coakley. Okay, here's my atta boy, Mr. Moynihan.
Everybody, imo, even Joe would acknowledge that Coakely is insufferable. MM does make a good point in comparing her to Dukakis. Like the Duke, she is stiff and humorless. Worse, just like the bolzhevik from Brookline, she presents a facade of probity, but her conduct reveals a character of sleaze. Many of you may remember the relaese of the Biden "attack video" during the fall of 1987. The media initially reported that the Gephardt campaign had released the video. Later, it came to light that, in fact, the Dukakis campaign had, in fact, released the video and that it was the Dukakis campaign that had fed the media the lie that it was the Gephardt campaign that had been responsible.
More props to Moynihan on the Amirault matter. Sure, an anarcho-free enterprise-individualist like me is naturally skeptical of any rape, molestation type charge. Knowing the evils of human nature, a rational human being should, ab inition, reject child perv and rape allegations given the dangerous combination of (1) the humongous percentage of charges that are, in fact, false and (2) the inherent profligacy of prosecutors. Hence, I do not get my knickers in a twist because Roman Polanski has been free man walking in Paris for thirety years.
Corrections:
ab initio in the thrid paragraph.
thirty years in the last sentence.
Sure, an anarcho-free enterprise-individualist like me is naturally skeptical of any rape, molestation type charge.
Exhibit A of why anarchos need not be taken seriously. You and the Ruwartoids should start working on finding a country where they don't care about adults abusing children.
Tulpa-
The primary thrust of my post was giving props to Moynihan for getting this story right.
Surely, you will join the two of us in not wishing Ms. Coakley electoral success come Tuesday?
Surely, you will agree with our Coakley/Dukakis comparisons?
Sidebar:
McCain vs. Benito reminded me of Bush vs. Dukakis. No clear winner either way, two shit sandwiches for candidates, and a big loss for America without regard to the outcome.
I credit that election for turning me on to the LP. And, though I didn't vote for him, Perot was a big factor in my decision to abandon Brand X Party politics as well
Okay, I did vote for Ron Paul, but that was one ballot that looked like a woefully-incomplete SAT test.
Hey, RP is a libertarian. I introduced him at a campaign rally in Boston in October of 1988.
Agreed, but my point was I hadn't voted Brand X for president for twenty years. I hadn't taken a Republican ballot in a primary in that entire time, either.
"The primary thrust of my post was giving props to Moynihan for getting this story right."
Yes, but you still had to throw that bit about "Knowing the evils of human nature, a rational human being should, ab inition, reject child perv and rape allegations given the dangerous combination of (1) the humongous percentage of charges that are, in fact, false", and I, for one, would love to know where you get your misinformation. And why do you feel the need to use such misinformation to mislead others?
Certainly the two cases mentioned here were false accusations, but such cases are rare (and part of the reason for pointing out those two cases is that, even though they are rare, Coakley was involved in at least 2 such cases).
Count me as one of many card-carrying LP members who have some very creative ways to dispatch child rapers.
Example:
A couple of rolls of duct tape, a bucket of chum, and a trip to the middle of a large forest... and let the critters nibble the child-diddler to death. Circle of life, yo.
And as usual, Libertarians don't care about pollution 😛
Hey, my plan recycles child rapists. Carbon-neutral, virtually!
Vigilante justice is even more prone to abuse -- and the punishment of innocent people -- than our admittedly flawed justice system is. That an innocent man spent 18 years in prison due to this prosecuntor's misbehavior is a travesty -- but the system corrected itself.
Then again, I shouldn't be surprised that Libertymike, whose approach to race relations runs parallel to Southern tradition, supports lynch mobs as the primary guarantor of rights.
In the case that Coakley dropped horribly - the cop raping the toddler with a hot object - a smattering of vigilante justice would be a good thing.
You mean, like the United States, the nation state that has, and continues to, maim, slaughter, burn, incinerate, firebomb, bayonet, stab, as well as drop bunker busters and drones upon little babies and kiddies the world over?
The faux libertarian, the guy who jerks off to soldiers and cops in uniform, the guy who jerks off to the national security state, the guy who is okay with the trillion dollar military financed by a confiscatiory income tax enforced by swarms of goons with who wear the impramatur of casear upon their chest, that guy is thee.
In your view, all of the above is justified because, in your words, "what if the chinese get control of the Persian Gulf?"
Wow, LM. Save that venom for the people who DO send troops to other countries.
?
Sorry, my sarcasm receptor was down. You mean, like, Iran and Venezuela?
I was referring to your post about how horrible the U.S. is, but those are good choices as well.
No, LM, I mean freaks who have sex with children. It does happen, y'know.
My post was a 2nd reply to tulpa's 8:08 pm post.
Yes, I am sure it does happen. A middle aged guy having sex with a 16 year old girl, however, is not the ruination of civilization or a threat to liberty. Neither is the catholic priest grabbing the rear end of a 15 year old boy as he hoists himself up onto the raft at the lake while on the annual parish summer youth outing.
I know a guy who served 6-7 years for several indecent exposure beefs. The last offense took place when the guy was 21 at a park. The guy expose himself to 2 11 year old boys. He did not touch them or assault them. The 2 boys ran home. One of them told his mother and the mother called the police.
While the guy was walking down the street not far from the park, an off duty cop spotted the guy, pulled his car up near to him and jumped out. He assaulted the guy only to have the tables turned on him as the flasher beat the shit out of the slimy, parasite cop (sorry for the redundancy). Then, the real heros showed up-about 8 of them. They proceeded to pulverize the flasher, who sustained a dislocated elbow, cracked ribs, kidney damage, and a broken nose. I've seen the pictures and have read the guy's medical reports.
What the cops did bothers me a whole lot more than this guy flahsing hisself to the 11 year olds. When I was 11, if this had happened, I would have laughed. I certainly would not have gone home crying to mumsy.
Agreed, and the worst way to wind up labeled a sex offender is via being pinched for public urination.
However, when a kid or an adult is raped by a sick, twisted freak, and it's 100% provable... IMO, prison is far too kind a punishment.
Part of it is getting the facts right, no?
For example, there is a profound difference, imo, between a priest sodomizing a six year old and a priest grab assing a sixteen-year old. The former should be handled as you suggest; the latter, well, I'll let the 16 yr. old handle the situation.
Tulpa and others love to conflate the two and scream that LM supports child rape.
A middle aged guy having sex with a 16 year old girl, however, is not the ruination of civilization or a threat to liberty.
In Hawaii it's entirely legal. A couple of years ago, doing a 14 year old was legal.
I know a guy who served 6-7 years for several indecent exposure beefs. The last offense took place when the guy was 21 at a park. The guy expose himself to 2 11 year old boys.
Libertarian Guy, the above is NOT the same as the worst way to wind up labeled a sex offender is via being pinched for public urination.
You got some swell friends their Mike.
I didn't say my example was the same, Marshall. I was, however, making a valid point - people are on sex-offender lists because they pissed in public.
"people are on sex-offender lists because they pissed in public."
This is actually a myth. Anytime someone makes this claim, I invite them to find just *one* example of this on any registry. Not one person has been able to find anyone on any state's SOR for "public urination", but they've found quite a few "aggravated assault of a child under 12", child rapes, etc.
Sounds like you're a cop hater, LM.
And the bullshit detect just went up on the old BS radar.
A perve is a perve is a perve is a perve. If a guy exposes himself to minors (for sexual gratification), chances are that it's going to escalate into something worse down the road. Best to catch him and stop it before that happens.
As for your claim that child molestation is nothing more than "A middle aged guy having sex with a 16 year old girl" (which is illegal for a reason, idiot) or the "catholic priest grabbing the rear end of a 15 year old boy as he hoists himself up onto the raft at the lake while on the annual parish summer youth outing" (also illegal for a reason. Idiot.) you're either living under a rock or you're a pedophile sympathizer. Those are the only two kinds of people I've seen make such idiotic claims.
I'm going to guess that you are already aware of AZU (http://absolutezerounited.blogspot.com/), but on the off chance that you are not, and that you're just spewing your "facts" out of ignorance, I encourage you to check it out. The ages of children being sexually abused is getting younger and younger, and the incidences of abuse are getting more and more brutal (as was evidenced by the case involving the toddler and the hot curling iron that Coakley dropped the ball on.)
As for your friend, I feel little sympathy for him. He should have kept his junk in his pants.
I'm still waiting for someone to actually address my concerns about another (even LESS libertarian) world power moving in to whatever regions we withdraw from. Out here in the real world, outside the anarcho-capitalist fantasy camp that Reason seems to be turning into, we do have to deal with such things.
There is no need to have a standing military force abroad or even permanent alliance with other nations, when there is a legislative body to deliberate and decide when and with whom to go to war.
In East Asia, there is no need for a standing military because the Korean Army is strong enough deter military action by the north. A reduction in force would encourage Japan to strengthen their forces. China would not engage in military aggression because over-the horizon military capabilities of the US.
In Europe, there is no reason to have any military forces; the US needs to stop being the EU's daddy warbucks.
In the Middle East, a departure would substantially reduce the risk of terrorism. Moreover, a nation like China, Russia or even Iran attempting to get hegemony would run into serious terrorist threats because of their worst records in Muslim relations. Would the rest of the middle east tolerate Russia ( a county with a quasi-established Christian Church and a record of oppressing Chechen Muslims), China (infamous for its blood-letting in Xinjiang) and Iran (a bunch of heterodoxy Muslims).
The Chinese and Russian governments are quite ruthless in dealing with terrorism (at the expense, of course, of quashing freedom in the process). I seriously don't think they'd be worried. Terrorism is only useful against democratic governments, in any case.
Yeah, that's why the Russians won in Afghanistan... oh wait.
I do not get my knickers in a twist because Roman Polanski has been free man walking in Paris for thirety years
How can you confuse a godamn fucking confessed rape with the shit Coakley pulled?!!! Science, Mike, get out of the house every now and then. Polanski made a plea bargain and skipped out on it. The girl never had any of the "councilors" giving her suggestions like in the cases Coakley pushed.
You don't know the difference between prosecutorial misconduct and real crime or don't care cause you liked Polanski's movies and also think 14 year olds are just "asking for it"?
Marshall Gill-
No, I am not a fan of Polanski.
Yeah, I am sure that you are absolutely sure that I cannot tell the difference between prosecutorial misconduct and real crime. As a libertarian and a rational person, woudln't one know that prosecutorial misconduct is real crime?
Why would you bring up Polanski in a thread about prosecutorial misconduct? He was simply the first piece of shit that popped in your head?
That makes them both pieces of shit that should be rotting in jail, in my book. What exactly is "libertarian" about rapists getting off the hook?
That would be a good question for Coakley.
Don't you think that the primary thread issue is the Massachusetts Senate race with the second issue being Coakley, herself?
I think that you are not being fair because if you look at my post, I made several observations regarding the race and comparing Coakley to Dukakis.
Marshall, I seethe every time I read or hear more on the Amirault case. I know it is not an aberration. I start with the premise that prosecutorial misconduct represents a far greater threat to liberty than do kiddie pervs.
I am not in favor of actual, real, rapists getting off the hook. As for Polanski, neither you, nor I have personal knowledge of the events; we do know that the alleged "victim" did not want Polanski extradited.
Polanski is not a threat to liberty. The state of california is.
Polanski is not a threat to liberty."
Unless you're a pre-pubescent girl with in fucking distance.
Mike, I just read the WSJ article about the Amiraults and I agree that a horrible injustice was done to them.
If you reread what you are writing about Polanski, you shouldn't be a bit surprised if people think you are weak on rape, to say the least.
You seem to want Polanski left alone because "you and I have no personal knowledge" and the "victim did not want him extradited". But you and I have no personal knowledge of the Amirault case and their accusers are still willing to say that he is guilty.
The difference between us, apparently, is that since there is no claim of prosecutorial misconduct on the part of Polanski, I believe he is a piece of shit equal to Coakley. Since you brought him up, it appears you think that he is on the level of the Amiraults. While I realize you hate the police, I didn't realize that you gave a pass to REAL rapists, like Polanski IS.
You must believe that since the cops are the ones who busted him, OJ isn't a murderer.
Marshall Gill-
I must confess that I am the chair of the "We Are Still Looking for the Real Murderer of Ron and Nicole," Massachusetts chapter. Now that OJ has been wrongfully incarcerated after being framed, he does not have the ability, himself, to keep looking.
Thus, it is up to those of us who will not rest until we find the real killer(s) to continue the search.
Poor, poor OJ - our hearts bleed for him. I hope his ass bleeds for us.
Marshall Gill-
Okay, you do make a good point in the third paragraph.
As for the moral equivalence between Coakley and Polanski, what about the difference between one acting under the color of law and the power of the state, while the other is a private individual?
IMO, the deprivation of liberty, the financial ruination and emotional distress sustained by Amirault at the hands of Coakley has been far worse than what Polanski's victim sustained.
But, please understand, if some cop rapes your niece, the sum bitch should be castrated.
And if the son of a bitch is a famous movie director you won't mind if he walks free in Paris? Make no mistake, if I was a relative of Polanski's victim, one of us would be dead.
Evil is evil, Mike. An individual acting evil, ie raping a minor, is still evil, even if he acts without government power backing him up. You couldn't say anything bad about Coakley with which I would disagree. On the other hand, "he wasn't a complete piece of shit because he wasn't a cop or soldier or Jew, even though he is a rapist" is beyond vile.
Marshall Gill-
Let's put it this way: If some man, or woman for that matter, who has never worked in the public sector and is a libertarian, rapes your niece, he or she would be evil. Period. No qualification.
Where we disagree is the with our assessment of the degree of evil. I think an evildoer is worse if the evil is done under the color of law. Thus, if a cop rapes your niece, it is, in my view, just more evil than if larry the libertarian did.
But, whether its Polanski or a cop or a soldier, after 30 years, let it go. Grace. Forgiveness. That type of stuff.
The idea of "assessment of the degree of evil" reminds me of the ridiculous nature of hate crime legislation. The person is no less dead or no less raped when you assess the aggravators position in the community or his prejudices. The Polanski victim wants the matter dropped because it is difficult to relive her story and to expose the past to her children and friends. Crime victims are sometimes punished by the process of the state vs. the defendant but that is the justice system we have.
You still haven't forgiven Abraham Lincoln, and you're lecturing us about forgiveness?
More cop hate...
Gotta agree with Tulpa and JC here.
"But, please understand, if some cop rapes your niece, the sum bitch should be castrated."
But not Polanski, since he raped a 12 year old girl?
Ray Souza putting his head in his granddaughter's vagina and "wiggling" it around.
Good god, I hope that's a typo.
This wasn't supposed to make me giggle. But it did.
As one Reasonoid said, Martha Coakley is a despicable human being.
Come January 19th, there will be the first useful shot fired in the revolution.
As the bible you guys don't believe in says, "be strong and of good courage."
Be sure to check out my vegetation pollution Part II youtube. It was done in conjunction with a Libertarian leader
"There's no need to fear. Underzog is here."
Underzog-
Good to see that you can be right once in awhile. I have no problem embracing the mighty Underzog in having nothing but contempt for Coakley.
P.S. I hear her support for Israel is, at best, lukewarm.
Why do you think underzog posted on this thread?
You're wrong, Mng. I posted on this thread so I could have an excuse to show the URL to my Global warming/Vegetation Pollution youtube
It was a talkshow discussion with great, Libertarian physicist, Avi Nelson.
p.s. Libertarian physicist, Avi Nelson, is a supporter of that zionist entity, too.
"There's no need to fear. Underzog is here."
How does one become a member of the zionist entity? Do they have a good insurance plan? Hot chicks? A well-stocked bar?
Benefits include lots of people wanting to kill you and being blamed for every problem in the world by people who surely aren't anti-semitic.
I could deal with that, as long as they mix drinks like Shriners and have hot chicks for the pillagin'... voluntarily, of course.
Why would a holocaust denier like Libertymike post on this thread?
Playing the victimization card whilst thou goes genocidal?
Meh is a denier of the ongoing holocaust in the middle east. But, he wants the us taxpayer to continue to finance the raping and pillaging. If they balk, they are anit-semetic.
Aw, man, Mike... don't tell me you're one of those holocaust deniers. Is it true?
TLG-
Are you serious?
Each and every barbaric, brutal, genocidal, murderous and totalitarian act by any state or state actor or anyone else acting the under color of law, is absolutely abhorrent, including the abject atrocities committed by the third reich.
Sorry, dude, don't know you that well. I've had a few interactions with Holocaust deniers, and almost every one of them also hates "Joos" and "nig'ras". There's a small gaggle of 'em in SW Missouri, one of their ilk actually tried to run on the LP ticket against Roy Blunt. Real piece of shit (well, either way, but at least Blunt isn't a racist prick).
I'm not sure if libertymike is a Holocaust denier (and as Jimmy notes, he doesn't give a straight answer here), but I know he refers to Obama as "the negro communist". Now, I loathe Obama as much as anyone, but that's just wrong. I'm undecided on whether he's actually a racist or just a Harry Reid-style social retard.
Obama is both a negro and a... well, proto-communist, perhaps. So, aside from the un-PCness, it looks like a fair assessment.
Is there an answer to the question somewhere in there?
If you're talking about the "raping and pillaging" of Palestinians... why won't any neighboring countries take 'em?
IMO, it's because said neighboring countries are like the Democrats... they both use poor, downtrodden people as campaign props.
Sure they do, I agree.
Why should anyone have to "take them?" Why not their own country, autonomy?
That still wouldn't be sufficient, MNG. The only way to placate the anti-Jew idiots is to either eradicate said Jews, or force them off their land.
Fuck you, you fucked up prick
Directed at Liberty Mike, not The Libertarian Guy
You're right, this is just the first shot. By the second week in November the Republicans will have sent several more big government "conservatives" to D.C. Gotta hand it to them, the RNC says jump and the voters say "how high?"
This race reminds me of when Townsend-Kennedy dropped Maryland, MARYLAND mind you, to Erlich a while back. She was supposed to tbe the annointed in a solidly Dem state and just made everyone go "meh" while her opponent was this "independent" styled guy with a very slick and inoffensive campaign. People were just sick of the one-party Dem rule, like all such rules the party had become very flabby and corrupt.
Of course, I will remind the young whipper-snappers here that at one point it looked like Ted Kennedy would lose to a young, future champion flip-flopper Mitt Romney but he came back and won handily...
If the Dems lose in Massachussets it will be a very, very major political sign though. It would be like a Democrat winning one of Alabama's or Utah's Senate seats...
Let me quibble with your comparison.
1. Romney did not have a 4 point lead 4 days to go b/4 the election.
2. Romney did not make up 30 points to overtake the expelled cheater 4 days before the election.
3. There was no "personality gap" between Romney and Kenedy as there is with Coakely and Brown.
Believe me, that personality differnce is making a difference. I'm on the ground here and I can tell you that somethin' goin on here. I have personally spoken to 5 union members who always vote Dem who will be voting for Brown. I have heard literally dozens of talk show callers who have identified themselves as Dems and/or union memebers proclaim that they are going to vote for Brown. Because I am a talk show junkie, I recognized some of the callers-they were not lying.
Even the sports talk shows have devoted a lot of time this week to the election. Brown has been on all of them; Coakley has demurred.
We here in Alabama have a democrat in the House. Bobby Bright is his name.
He was talking about electing Senators to Alabama or Utah, not reps. Utah has a Democratic representative, covering the liberal (for Utah) Salt Lake City area.
I'm going to have to side with the mike guy here. Not that it matters. This race looks a lot different than the Mitt/Teddy. I don't think that means it's a done deal or more likely for Brown, but they were definitely different races in most aspects.
Aside from something like a death penalty conviction that gets carried through on an innocent man, there are few things more fucked up than what happened to the Amirault family. The entire family not only served years (in Geralds case decades) of jail time but their lives were completely destroyed beyond repair. In 1997 one of the sisters died from cancer that many believe was brought on by the stress induced from the case. This was a stain on the Massachusetts Justice system that many Bay Staters have never forgiven, and Coakley did everything she could to make the story worse by trying to use it to advance her own career.
Growing up in Boston I remember how people thought the case stunk from the beginning, but Rabinovitz's reporting truly uncovered what a travesty of justice the case was. And as Moynihan mentioned, this is hardly the only case that Coakley tried to use to advance her career.
It is baffling to me that the Mass Dems would choose someone that even the Police Unions in Boston won't endorse to run for Teddys seat, or excuse me- The PEOPLE OF MASSACHUSETTS SEAT. This is really the best that the Dems have for a no brainer walk through election in the bluest of blue states?
They may be more fucked in the midterms than I initally thought.
Get on the buses, biotches! We gots an election to "win!"
Uh, you guys do know there is an actual LP candidate running in that race, right?
http://www.foxnews.com/politic.....edys-seat/
It's kind of funny to see some of the same guys who berated Reason writers for considering Obama votes to punish or end GOP misrule because "there was a LP candidate to vote for" ignore this guy so quickly...What a bunch of faux-libertarian conservatives some of you guys are...
This race has become, in effect, a referendum on health care deform. That is why, despite his flaws, I would vote for Brown. It is like voting "No" on health care deform. There are times when the perfect is the enemy of the - good is not the right word ... There are times when the perfect is the enemy of the not extreemly horible. This is one of those times. Normally I would vote for the LP candidate. This is a time to hold one's nose and vote Republican.
"Normally I would vote for the LP candidate. This is a time to hold one's nose and vote Republican"
Oh, bullshit. I'm betting you do quite a bit of that GOP voting/nose holding...
And sometimes Democrat voting / nose holding. It depends on who the candidates are on either side. If the Republican is someone who wants to shove "Christian values" down my throat I hold my nose and vote for the Democrat.
And if it's a referendum on health care reform I should note the LP candidate opposes it, and as the faux-libertarians pointed out when outraged that people were considering voting Dem in 06 and 08 to teach the GOP a lesson, a vote for the LP candidate is not a vote for the party you are punishing, it's a vote they won't get either way...
http://www.csmonitor.com/Comme.....for-Senate
As many others have pointed out, if the outcome is at all close with a slight Brown lead the Dems will most likely drag the race on with endless Florida 2000 style vote counting and try to not certify him untill after Health Care Deform has been passed by both the House and the Senate. Every vote in this election counts.
Who elected GWB in 2000? The Florida Green Party. If they had accepted a less than pure candidate instead of Nader there wouldn't even have been a run off. I suspect that Ross Perot is the single deciding factor in electing Clinton.
Of course the Lefturd is trying to keep Libertarians from holding their noses and voting Republican. He realizes that to some extent, a vote for Brown vote for Coakley.
Good point. Again, I normally would be voting for the LP candidate (If I lived in Mass. which I do not). The stakes here are just too big to ignore though.
Sorry, but the notion that voting third party "helps" anyone win is a tired old argument. It's one reason we keep getting Republicans and Democrats elected/re-elected.
The Repubs still bitch and moan about how Perot "put Clinton in office", and Dems still bitch and moan about how Nader cost them Florida. Gore couldn't even win his own fucking state.
Of course, neither Bush nor Gore deserved to win, but some of us non-conformists voting for None of the Popularity Contestants had zero hand in those elections. And the sooner the public cops onto that fact, the better.
1992 and 2000 were not contests about a specific political issue. 2010 in Mass. is.
I could care less who people vote for, or whether Coakley or Brown wins. My point is it's interesting that when people were suggesting on H&R holding their nose and voting Democrat to punish the GOP all these "libertarians" popped up and ponitificated on the principle of voting Libertarian or just not giving any of the two parties your vote. But when it's proposed to vote GOP to punish the Dems nary a similar voice is heard. Of course I've long suspected that for many people here libertarianism is the dress they wear over their conservative slips, or they are just plain shills trying to move libertarians to the GOP, so it's little surprise.
"when people were suggesting on H&R holding their nose and voting Democrat to punish the GOP"
In our current system of government there is only One President of the Untied States. Voting for a fascist from Chicago for this postion does not in any way advance the cause of liberty. We have 100 Senators in DC. Voting for gridlock ?espcially with Health Care Deform being proposed does.
"Of course I've long suspected that for many people here libertarianism is the dress they wear over their conservative slips, or they are just plain shills trying to move libertarians to the GOP, so it's little surprise."
Based upon what actual evidence?
Eric Dondero isn't "many people".
So soon
For what its worth I like his radio show's theme song "Let Freedom Ring". Not much but at least I can say he has good taste in music.
"Let freedom ring, let the white dove sing" is not a great, or even a good bad couplet.
And the song's about a battered wife murdering her husband and burning down her house.
Hannity's use of it is as incongruous as the Republican anthem "Born in the USA".
"And the song's about a battered wife murdering her husband and burning down her house."
Actually, if you think about it, that does have political symbolism to it. We, the American people are the battered wife.
So you would take your vengeance by burning down the house? Nice.
In this case, you should vote with your feet and leave the house to the rest of us.
When you were in school did your teachers teach you about this thing called symbolism?
In this case, you should vote with your feet and leave the house to the rest of us.
Vote with our feet? Yeah, as in planting those feet firmly against your backsides and keeping the house for ourselves.
Going to start kicking people out?
Better pack a lunch.
Nah, we'll just eat yours.
independent doesn't equal LP
I know that seems confusing. The rest has been handled below.
Brown probably won't even be seated in time for the vote.o.
No, this is the time to send an actual libertarian to Washington. Vote for Kennedy and flip the well-deserved bird to both the Demo machine and the politics-as-usual GOP. The shot heard round the world needs to be the one that heralds the end of the two-party duopoly.
No, this is the time to send an actual libertarian to Washington.
That would be nice at any time, but I don't think it could be managed in this race - or any other in Massachusetts.
I'm in Massachusetts and have always voted Libertarian if the option is available.
Until this one time, for the very reason you gave.
1. He's not running as a Libertarian.
2. The election of Brown advances libertarian interests even though he certainly is not a libertarian.
3. Most of the criticism of the Reason writers who voted for Obama was because we knew Obama was going to be just as bad as Bush from a libertarian perspective.
Tulpa,
Have to question "just as bad a Bush."
We got the same war, a little less jesus and a few more trillion in spending.
Hate to burst your bubble, but ...
More Jesus, actually.
But with W, he actually believed what he said.
Hate to burst your bubble, but ...
More Jesus, actually.
Yeah, GODDAMN THE UNITED STATES!
+1
Wow, I would never have expected this advice from Tulpa ;)!
That wasn't advice, it was fact. #1 is easily verified, #3 takes a little more work but can also be verified. I suppose #2 contains an element of opinion, so if you want to dispute that by arguing that a Coakley victory is better for libertarianism, go for it.
As someone who has only ever voted for myself for President. Someone who constantly berates those who make excuses for the Republican Party as if they are even remotely viable as a party that represents economic or actual freedom. Even I would have to hold my nose and vote for Brown on this one.
I find nearly everything about him abhorrent, but he would at least prevent this bill from passing. This bill would not only hurt the economy and cause a drop in the quality of care while massively raising the deficit, but it would cripple any chance for health care reform for at least a generation, if not until the end of the republic.
Rarely is a single election so vastly critical on a single issue, and also close enough to rationalize this type of political calculus, but I think this is one of those times. I don't live in Massachusetts, but if I did this would be an occasion that I'd have to take the lesser evil.
Well said!
I live in PA and I donated $50 to his campaign on Tuesday.
$50 from an attorney? Was it in quarters?
No, in pennies.
The US produces cents not pennies.
Divided government is the best we can hope for right now. There's no shame in voting for it.
MNG|1.15.10 @ 7:50PM|#
"Uh, you guys do know there is an actual LP candidate running in that race, right?[....] What a bunch of faux-libertarian conservatives some of you guys are..."
Let's see:
1) We have a libertarian candidate who will advance most all libertarian values, but has no chance of winning.
2) We have a candidate from one major party who advances no libertarian values who can be defeated.
3) We have a candidate from another major party who advances some libertarian values and can win.
And so libertarians are 'faux libertarians' for not voting to advance some libertarian values?
No *wonder* you're confused!
I don't live in Massachusetts, so I don't care about any of the candidates.
I'm surprised-I would think that you would take a rather keen interest in knowing thy enemies, be they from Tewksbury or Telluride or Tallahassee.
It's kind of funny to see some of the same guys who berated Reason writers for considering Obama votes to punish or end GOP misrule because "there was a LP candidate to vote for" ignore this guy so quickly...
Obama sucked shit and McCain sucked shit. Brown actually is against real bills in the senate that suck shit.
To compare the two is an incorrect assessment of the situation.
MNG -- you do know that the Senate Democrats are 1 vote away from losing their filibuster-proof majority?
Of course you did.
On rare occasions there are tactical reasons for voting major party candidates in order to get to gridlock. This is one of them.
And this from prole is even more shocking than Tulpa!
All the GOP shills are out beating the bushes for Brown...Of course, getting Libertarians to hold their nose and vote GOP is an old game for the GOP, and it has worked out so very well for libertarians, eh?
MNG, considering that the most important legislation of the last several decades is on the line, and Coakley is a complete queen bitch who has no problem sending innocent people down the river to advance her political career. Why is it so hard to believe this might be an exception to the rule?
Calling me -- who has criticized the Bush/Cheney torture regime, the invasion of Iraq, the continued occupation of AFG -- a GOP shill serves only to undermine your own credibility, if there's any left.
The fact is that at the national and state level, libertarian candidates get single-digit results, and (almost?) never win. So yeah, holding your nose and voting GOP often makes sense, because it stops the Democrats.
Look at it from the other side: the socialist left usually votes Democrat and not for parties that might be closer ideologically: the Green Party, Socialist Worker, whoever. When the left "votes their conscience" they risk Florida 2000. But when they get behind Democrats and circumstances go their way, they get both houses of Congress and the Presidency in the hands of their (admittedly unreliable) fellow travelers, as they have now.
Circumstances are now going in an anti-socialist direction, so I agree with the posters above who say any Massachusetts libertarian who doesn't vote for Brown is a fool. Come on, folks, what a story this is! One year after Obama's ascension, a Republican may take Ted Kennedy's old seat on a wave of popular opposition to Obamacare and big government in general. Rarely are conservative and libertarian and GOP interests so aligned. It's a huge yes/no referendum on a socialist bill, so what's the point of voting "other" when that might help the statists win an important victory for socialism?
Yes, The GOP has spent millions trying to confuse and swindle votes from all 25 Libertarians.
I'd like to see the Democrats propose an actually socialist bill - NHS for America - and then say to the Republicans, "Start talking."
A real filibuster would be highly entertaining.
I would take an NHS in a second over the current bill. At least it'd be a cheaper way to degrade our heath care, and would probably provide fewer chances for blatant rent seeking.
I want to see McCain on C-SPAN reading from the telephone book.
I want to see the dying Kleagle Byrd wheeled into the Senate every few hours.
I want to see a knock-down, drag-out, real old-fashioned, Senate filibuster.
If Byrd dies that could lead to yet another special election.
Not to be ghoulish, but a good point. If Massachusetts can vote for a Republican, I can certainly see how West Virginia could.
"What a bunch of faux-libertarian conservatives some of you guys are."
All hail MNG! Decider of what makes a true non-faux libertarian conservative!
You do realize that just about everyone on this blog couldn't possibly give less of a flying fuck about who you think is a "real" liberarian?
A real librarian?
Hey I thought I was the only real librarian here!
Nope, I'm a real librarian too.
That's "liberryian"
Oh, you mean a Liberian, from Liberia.
You're not one of those, either 🙂
Martha Coakley raped me. I have no evidence to back this up, but apparently I don't need any.
With a magic wand?
I just got an image in my mind of bad Harry Potter porno take offs. Thanks for that.
Nothing can top the scene where Katie Morgan fellates an Ent.
Not even Tommy Wiseau's "The Room"?
Hairy Pooter and the Chamber of Secretions?
Hairy Cooter and the Sorcerer's Stones
No, a giant robot.
No, if she makes it to the Senate, apparently it will be with Obama's dick (if such a thing exists)
Those credible incidents included being forced to drink a "green potion" before being inappropriately touched, being molested by a giant robot, and Ray Souza putting his head in his granddaughter's vagina and "wiggling" it around.
No one who would use "credible" to describe that story should be allowed outside a padded room.
There was a 1958 episode of The Thin Man series in which Roby the Robot is accused of murder.

There was a 1958 episode of The Thin Man series in which Roby the Robot is accused of murder.
I was innocent. OJ did it.
True but she ruined a bunch of peoples lives with the same logic.
Brown is a pandering neo-conservative, his opposition to the current health care debacle is not based on principles but on partisanship. Great, he stops the current idiocy in its tracks, but that's because he has his own brand of idiocy to endorse. If he is elected it won't end the health care debate, merely postpone for it for a short time.
Being as cynical as I can, I hope Coakley gets elected and that godawful bill gets pushed through. Maybe it's not the pols but the people that need to learn a lesson this time.
"If he is elected it won't end the health care debate, merely postpone for it for a short time."
If he could postpone it until Jan. 20, 2011 that could kill it for good. Reason enough to vote for him as far as I am concerned.
That's not how it works. Things get worse, they get worse. We need to stop this legislation and to claw our way back to the pinnacle of gridlock. Anything else would be the greatest folly.
Considering I start paying for the bill this year I think I would vote Brown.
...his opposition to the current health care debacle is not based on principles but on partisanship. Great, he stops the current idiocy in its tracks, but that's because he has his own brand of idiocy to endorse. If he is elected it won't end the health care debate, merely postpone for it for a short time.
One could say the same about nearly all the opposition, because it's mostly Republicans, but at the moment that's about the only opposition we have. If/when the Repubs gain power again, I shudder to think what kind of crap they will try to impose on the country. Guess we'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it.
You're onto it -- politicians and government are not the disease; they are the symptom. One cannot just wake up in the morning and say, 'today I will obtain, exercise, and abuse authority'. It has to be given; and we're surrounded by so many millions of lemMiNGs...
Why, so the Republicans can institute Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Part II: The Health Care Plan? The American system sucks. I hate having my insurance tied to my employment... but personal plans are too expensive. The fact that the debate has become socialized medicine vs. socialized insurance vs. status-quo corporatism really speaks volumes about our current political parties and their motives. None of that is acceptable to me as an individual.
This was @PIRS, jesus the java is... weird... replies need to be a smaller version of the normal "Post-comment" screen.
The key here is that if Republicans take over in Jan. 2011 there will be gridlock. Gridlock is good. That will provide freedom lovers breathing room so that we can educate the public about the free market. Right now we do not have that breathing room. Lasting change will require an ideological revolution. In the mean time we need to stop our country from becoming a North American version of Venezuela.
The country has been ratcheting it's way towards statism and bureaucracy with every change of the pendulum for at least the last 3 decades. Dem Majority -> Gridlock -> GOP Majority -> Gridlock -> Dem. The only laws that are passed under gridlock are bi-partisan and the worst andi-individual sort of laws. The stuff passed under either party majority has the exact same growth of the federal government, albeit in a different flavor. See how The PATRIOT Act was renewed under both the GOP and DEM dominated Houses.
Obama is no Clinton. Clinton was an ideological chameleon who relished a strategy of triangulation. Obama has never shown himself to be that. He appears to be an ideological purist. I am confident that a two year window with him at the helm and Republicans in charge of both houses of Congress that congress would be a "do-nothing" congress. A do-nothing congress is the best kind. We might even get treated to a real "government shutdown" ? this one genuine and not like the fake one in the 1990's.
"He appears to be an ideological purist."
Aside from the fact that he wants to get a healthcare bill passed, even if it doesn't actually achieve any worthwhile leftwing objectives, I can't think of any actual stance he has on anything that wouldn't change if some interest group started giving him crap about it.
" even if it doesn't actually achieve any worthwhile leftwing objectives"
Oh, but it would, it would provide the structure for future deforms. It is a "starter house" as someone said.
"I can't think of any actual stance he has on anything that wouldn't change if some interest group started giving him crap about it."
Like killing civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan? Interest groups have been giving him crap about that. He has his own, statist agenda. Some have called it leftist. I call it fascist. It is much closer to fascism than anything else.
I am providing a list of worthwhile leftwing objectives below:
This has been a free, voluntary public service.

Tony and Chad must be asleep. Long nights with rough tricks named Jim can make a man tired, one would imagine.
Jim???
Jim down from the ACORN office. You know.
Please dont wake them up, LG.
Oh, they'll wake up soon enough...
Tony and Chad are offline because they're rushing to Massachusetts, tears streaming down their cheeks, hoping that there's something, anything, they can do there to save Obama's legacy.
Coakley's defenders say that a poorly run campaign?and not skepticism of ObamaCare?is driving her poll numbers south
In a well-run campaign, someone would have noticed that the Obamacare bill was highly unpopular, and told the candidate to shut the fuck up about it in her speeches, and deflect any questions on the subject.
-jcr
No, they keep taking it from me before I can get my greedy, money-grubbing hands on it. Bastards
Hmm - it still does not like apostrophes
What browser are you using?
This is only a test.
abusing children in a magic room while dressed as a clown
In a metaphorical sense, this could refer to almost any politician.
Ha!
Oh, come on - Monica wasn't all that young. Nor was she unresponsive.
Pollsters will declare victory however it turns out.
Unfortunately, nobody else will win in this failfest.
WAY TO GO, PARTISANSHIP!
I do, too - she will certainly destroy fewer people if she leaves the scene.
It's a shame Michael Cloud isn't in this contest - he'd give Coakley AND Brown a hard time at the polls.
I hear he gives Carla Howell a HARD time.............
He certainly had a good showing when he ran against John "Did I mention I served in Vietnam?" Kerry...
As did his gal in her run against the Chappaquidick chubby in 2000. She got more votes than Scott Brown's primary opponent, Jack E. Robinson.
Who was a wife beater, correct? What a piece of shit. Still, he pales in comparison to Coakley.
BP-
Who was the wife beater? Robinson or Brown? If it was Brown, I'm thinking it would have come out, no?
Robinson, not Brown. The MA Republican party refused to support him.
Dumb question: I'm assuming the Dem machine would pick the Great Kennedy's successor. And they picked her? Maybe it doesn't work like that.
On any planet I thought I lived on, her career would have been over after the Amirault nightmare came to light. Only weirdos over-educated beyond any common sense could have done that to those kids.
Think Janet Reno.
Her claim that Curt Schilling is a Yankees fan was certainly odd.
As far as those who are contemplating the GOP candidate, I remember the hope among conservatives that the election of GOP standard-bearer GW Bush would mean the de-fanging of HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. But eventually, the W administration endorsed the act and failed to provide the long-expected "guidance" that would, in effect, eviscerate it. That is to say, when faced with the opportunity to please the base that elected him or seize more power, W's administration seized more power.
If you think that electing the GOP guy will guarantee a vote against the current healthcare scam, I would recommend thinking again. Maybe you'll get what you want, maybe not. If you want better odds on a NO vote for the healthcare scam, Joe Kennedy's your man.
But what chance does Kennedy have of being elected?
Much less than he may have had if livertarians voted L instead of R.
Kennedy can still rely on the kidneytarian vote if he doesn't get the livertarian vote.
If all you're gonna do is follow me around and correct my mistakes, I'm gonna start callin you mrsbrotherben; }
Oh, come on...that typo was fun!
Yeah, all those MA libertarians could sweep him into office.
I fully support Instant Runoff Voting -- but until it comes about, in close elections you have to pick the lesser of two weevils.
FYI. Whatever your feelings about Coakley, my wife worked with someone who was a child at the Amirault's daycare. They were guilty.
Also, a hunky suit will always be more attractive (to men and women) than a shrill old lady.
When my fellow citizens of the commonwealth realize they hired a teabagger he'll be gone in 2012.
A "teabagger"? Really?
This is an example of the mature, logical and reasoned debate that Coakley supporters wish to engage us in.
When will someone start throwing around 'donkey punch' as a rebuttal to tea-bagger?
How about "donkey show"?
:::swivels head around::: Where!?
When will someone start throwing around 'donkey punch' as a rebuttal to tea-bagger?
I was kinda surprised "salad-tosser" didn't go 'big' on the right when that guy hit a cop with a tomato at a Palin book signing.
Probably because dude wasn't lobbing cherry tomatoes.
"When my fellow citizens of the commonwealth realize they hired a teabagger he'll be gone in 2012.
These are the same people who voted against repealing their state income tax based on the threat of the possibility of tax hikes elsewhere or a reduction in state emergency services, then promptly watched their elected officials currently in office vote in a 25% state sales tax hike anyway.
Between the two major party candidates, Coakley will clearly be the worse choice for the state and the country, but I have no faith the unwashed Masses will see it that way.
their elected officials currently in office vote in a 25% state sales tax hike anyway.
Even in Taxachussetts, that might piss some people off. It's also quite likely that first-hand experience with RomneyCare has shown them why government takeover of medicine is not a good idea.
-jcr
We also can't forget that the reason there's an appointee temporarily holding the seat right now is due entirely to the hypocrisy of the Democrats currently in office in the Bay State.
One can hope that between that and the sales tax hike, Disconcordian's fellow citizens will not vote Coakley into office.
You are aware, aren't you. that "teabagger" is a pejorative. Kind of like "nigger", "spic", "cracker", and "hymie".
Now, "Teabagger" - there's a name no man would self-apply where I come from.
But there are many things about the Teabagger that didn't make sense.
Better than being the teabaggy!
Better than being the teabaggy!
Uh, teabaggee.
maybe I was talking about the baggy you put the tea in!!
From the Urban Dictionary:
"the insertion of one man's sack into another person's mouth. Used a practical joke or prank, when performed on someone who is asleep, or as a sexual act.
At the frat house last night, when Tim was wasted an down on the floor, he got teabagged by, like, ten guys!
Me and Jen were teabagging last night when her mom walked in. Awkward."
See not homophobic. Pejorative?
When applied to the attendees of the 'Tea Parties'? Certainly. Birthers, secessionists, and 'patriots' of that ilk should be laughed at.
So is "Massholes" a good pejorative or a naughty one?
my wife worked with someone who was a child at the Amirault's daycare. They were guilty.
Sorry, I need a bit more than an assertion from an anonymous poster to overcome my skepticism about the magic butcher knife.
Add to that your use of a homophobic epithet, and your credibility goes rather below nil as far as I'm concerned.
-jcr
See above, Mr. Randolph, I think it's time for your milk of magnesia.
Oh yeah? A friend of a friend of a guy I know says he knows the Amaraults were innocent.
In your hearsay face, sucka!
I will not feed the trolls.
But said woman always felt left out when she wasn't invited into he 'special room' with the chosen kids. Being fat and homely saved her!
I think the term shouldn't be "coaching", but "grooming". If any private citizen did what the prosecutors did in the Amirault case, we'd call them dangerous perverts.
And if a private citizen did what IRS agents do we would call them robbers.
"This race has become, in effect, a referendum on health care deform. That is why, despite his flaws, I would vote for Brown."
Yeah, because the guy who voted for the bill below is the way to send a message about that.
GOP shills, gotta love 'em.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.....are_reform
I can't help but believe you're being a little disingenuous, MNG. Cynicism is warranted when construing of politics, but that does not that libertarians are incapable of voting pragmatically.
Art, were you on H&R when, in response to posters saying they were considering voting Democrat to thwart or punish the GOP, many of these "principled" libertarians showed up and pontificated about how every good libertarian should vote for the libertarian party not any "Republocrat"; that it would be punishment enough to just not give your vote to one of those sides; that this was the way to build a real 3rd party, etc., etc. It was just bullshit, they were trying to talk people out of voting Dem and knew they couldn't talk them into voting GOP. Now they show up and say libertarians must be pragamatic and vote GOP... Go figure.
For the record back on those threads while I defended the reason behind those considering voting to "punish" or "thwart" one of the two big parties I also said that were I a libertarian I would have voted for Barr or the libertarian candidate (06 elections). I don't post on here to change people's votes to Democrat for God's sake (what self-importance that would involve), in MD I tend to vote GOP myself (our state-wide GOP candidates are quite moderate)!
But I do love poking hypocrisy and shilling when I see it...
Yeah, some people are hypocrites. That doesn't mean that all or even most of the libertarians tacitly endorsing Brown are.
What is here to be a hypocrite about?
Obama has turned out to be just as bad as Bush when it comes to the war on terrorism and the Iraq and and afgan war, and even worse on the economy.
I am happy I voted for Barr.
There was a bit of a rift in the LP over Barr.
I held my nose and voted for Barr. The LP dropped the ball by not nominating Ruwart.
Did the same.
I held my nose and voted for Barr.
I wrote in Ron Paul.
-jcr
Ruwart? The political-instinctless fool who wanted to legalize child pornography and sounded like she was talking to second-graders during the debates.
Barr was hamstrung by GOP obstruction to keep him off the ballot, paired with the purist contingent staying home on election day. If they nominate a Badnarik / Ruwart type in 2012, they can count on my doing the same.
From a somewhat outsider position watching the convention on CSPAN it was a little weird and it seemed like emotions and the stupid was in full force on all sides.
Agreed. I wasn't there, but the convention coverage was sufficiently bizarre.
Yeah. I voted for them anyway, but I think it's fair to say that the party could probably use a dose of seriousness and professionalism.
That said it's real easy to criticize a third party in this country because any type of real success is a massive longshot. So you can say "they did this and that wrong" but they were playing against a stacked deck.
I'd just as soon not see guys running around with Guy Fawkes masks at the convention, but I'd also say it's not likely to have made any difference.
Apparently you do not understand what it means to vote pragmatically. The freedom movement has already managed to delay Health Care Deform. It was supposed to be done by now. Many people predicted it would have been passed and signed log ago. The much derided Tea Party movement helped delay it. Phone calls delayed it longer. There was a mass protest in DC that delayed it again. Putting Brown into office would delay it further. All we need to do is delay it until Jan. 20, 2011. Then it is effectively dead.
Yeah, because the guy who voted for the bill below is the way to send a message about that.
There is at least SOME possibility that he might have legitimately believed that the reform would actually work in Massachusetts, but has since changed his mind, since any retard can see that it hasn't worked at all.
A libertarian would be well severed by voting against what you want MNG.
Okay, yeah, so she persecuted somebody on completely fabricated child sexual abuse charges.
But don't forget when a cop actually molested a 23-month old toddler with a hot curling iron, she did everything to make sure he didn't have to go to jail.
A conviction for every crime -- it's the Coakley pledge!
Interesting stuff, iowahawk.
One would think Democrats - if they REALLY care about the children - would shitcan Coakley over the Winfield incident. But, no, they'll vote for her anyway.
Kind of like the way sexual harassment was such a huge, unforgivable crime until Democrat politicians got caught doing it.
"DA favors cop--details at 11:00--in other news --rain is wet."
Nice people they hire to become cops; how do they find them - advertise at the local nuthouse?
BTW, can anyone cite an example of a politician who started out as a prosecutor, and then went on to do a decent job as an executive, whether at the state or the federal level?
I want the career path for former prosecutors to lead somewhere other than to greater power. In particular, judges who start out as prosecutors make me highly suspicious.
-jcr
I heard somewhere that Attorney General, when acronymized, can stand for "Aspiring Governor".
That happened to us here in Missouri - John Ashcroft did it, much to our detriment.
It wasn't at the state level, but Giuliani went from being a somewhat over-reaching prosecutor to a pretty good mayor of a huge city.
Double BTW, what does that centerfold picture in the teaser have to do with the topic? I am apparently missing some vital piece of the puzzle.
That is a picture of the republican candidate, Brown, from a cosmo pictorial.
I got a lever for the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts to pull on right here! Heyyyyy-ohhhhhhh!
Also, some clever remark about a hanging chad, and various other crude double entendres (to be figured out later).
Fist of Etiquette, "I am apparently missing some vital piece of the puzzle." I am too because the picture is cut off before the vital piece. I demand equal treatment under law: the Lobster Girl Equality Act.
Calm down, Cosmo centerfolds weren't full frontal.
...yet.
[ominous music]
MNG, you can accuse me of being a closet Republican / conservative, too. I can't believe there is actually a situation where I would vote for a Republican in a general election, but this one is it.
Coakley isn't just a Democrat who will help wreck what's left of the economy by voting for the POS health care "reform". This is not just "rah rah, team red, team blue".
Coakley is a sick, evil, worthless excuse for a human being. She has ruined the lives of innocent people for her personal gain, (and thanks to Iowahawk, now we know she also did next to nothing about an actual sadistic child rapist). This is the type of scum that needs to be kept from power at all costs.
BP-
He may as well throw me into that group as, notwithstanding the fact that I will be voting for Kennedy, I do understand the argument that you and many others have put forth in defending the exception.
Some of the talk shows here have been hammering Coakley for quite some time on her handling of the cop/rapist case.
I don't blame you or any other MA libertarian who votes for Kennedy. I just think Coakley is so vile, that voting for a major party candidate is actually justified.
Haha... that's how I feel about every election, especially in my state (OK). The Republican candidate is usually so vile, voting Dem is the only option.
What? You live in Oklahoma? Suddenly I have a whole new respect for you, you resilient, resilient fellow.
(I went to basic at Ft. Sill, OK. That state is not my favorite overall, even if it did give us Shiny Toy Guns).
What if both major-party candidates are "vile"?
Uh... I think I covered this. Vote Libertarian, or leave the race blank. I haven't voted for a major party candidate in a general election since 1998.
Oh, sorry Mr. FIFY, you weren't replying to me.
That was for Tony, BP. But it's all good.
...and if I have to turn in my decoder ring because of that, just let me know where to drop it off...
+1
It was just bullshit, they were trying to talk people out of voting Dem and knew they couldn't talk them into voting GOP. Now they show up and say libertarians must be pragamatic and vote GOP...
There might have been someone here who was being such a hypocrite, MNG. Dunno, I can't read minds. But, the objective of voting, in my mind at least, is to send signals to politicians that I value libertry.
In the last election that meant voting for a libertarian Republican, Ron Paul, in the primary and then the LP candidate, Bob Barr, in the general.
If I lived in MA I would vote for the Republican this time around, because the most liberty-advancing thing one can do is to get to gridlock on the health care bill.
The strategy (advancing liberty) is the same throughout. The tactics vary, depending on the particular situation.
And yes, I do understand and applaud those principled libertarians who will vote for the libertarian candidate in this particular race. And I understand and applaud those principled anarchists, such as Epi, who don't vote at all.
I'd still try to talk them into voting for gridlock, but I can see how from a certain libertarian perspective, voting for any major party candidate, or voting at all, would be a violation of one's ethical principles.
Understand, certainly. Applaud is going too far.
Perhaps "respect" rather than "applaud" better captures the meaning I was going after.
The purity test bullshit is bullshit. It's even more ridiculous when someone who tends to defend most things used in such retarded purity tests tries to apply said purity test.
I have mixed feelings about the purity libertarians. On one hand, the "ABSOLUTE FREEDOM IMMEDIATELY" wing is never going to convince anyone but the .3% true believers. OTOH, the larger the tent gets, the more compromises you have to make. Eventually, you wind up like Donderoooooo, claiming that Giuliani is really a closet Libertarian.
Well said, Penguin.
Well there's definitely a balance to be struck. Personally I don't think that Bob Barr in 2008 -- after he'd repudiated his drug war positions and worked for MPP for 2 years, proving his sincerity -- represented a significant amount of compromise. It seemed like the libertarian puritans were more holding a grudge than anything else.
Yeah, but you might end up with Giuliani as mayor instead of Dinkins. What libertarian would prefer Dinkins? In this race, any purist libertarian vote for Kennedy is one less vote against Coakley, and you don't advance libertarian principle by helping elect people like her.
If the Republican candidate in this election was a perfect clone of Martha Coakley (call her Cartha Moakley) in every single way except for being a vote against Obamacare, I think libertarians should still pull the R lever. Use a clothespin on your nose if you must, but the stakes are too high.
When is Martha Coakley's prison debut? That's where she should really be!
"Coakley's defenders say that a poorly run campaign?and not skepticism of ObamaCare?is driving her poll numbers south." Is this supposed to be some kind of joke? What's the punch-line? Something like: "So, cast your vote for Coakley because she's incompetent."
If Coakley wins maybe I'll move to Nebraska and join a union. That way I don't have to pay any taxes for Obamacare. I think thats how it is shaping up.
After you take a Coakley,
be sure to wipe your Obama.
I think Obummer is coming to Boston Sunday to measure Martha for space under the bus, as that's surely where she's headed now.
More Democrat dirty pool. The Mass Dem Party today put out a flier claiming that Scott Brown wants hospitals to "turn away" alleged rape victims.
Now, this is so over the top that I don't think voters would even believe it, but it shows how desperate they've become.
What *will* be interesting is how deep in the mud the D.C. contingent digs.
The presumption here is that a rep for foot-chewing is worse for a national politico than a local one.
Did the children tell her that as well?
The orphans told Coakley that, Jim.
And you would think those hospitals would want to perform clitoridectomies on the rape victims and sew up their vaginas.
Because then they could charge for the unnecessary procedures.
I guess the Demwits forgot half their talking points.
More
There's a mysterious absence of comment on the man meat image accompanying this article.
I'm a little disappointed.
Brown should unveil his new campaign slogan "beefcake in place of pork"!
More straight males here (or closeted or in denial gays) than gay males.
And the few women here seem to be not as juvenile as us men when it comes to all that rot. 😉
I'm too busy to type...
Ha! (too busy doing what to type? (I kid, women don't do "that"))
Some of them do, Art-POG. I can personally attest to that.
Yeah, I know. Many women will never admit to it, though. Or say it doesn't count because they get to use high technology to "relieve tension".
Prolefeed, I get the distinct impression you climb trees.
With binoculars in his backpack?
Prolefeed could be George Mcfly.
Had I seen your comment first I'd likely not placed my Brown salami on the end of the thread.
Brown salami= TMI
I'll direct your gaze upward as I, ignorant of the who the hell was in that picture, stumbled into commenting on it earlier in the day.
I read Playb....I mean Reason for the articles only. I never look at the pictures.
I'd vote for Reason having a little more cheesecake on it and on the cover.
You'd think they may learn how capitalism works
The beefcake images have become a minor part of the campaign because the working girls at Wonkette, the working gay "girls" at Queerty.com, and even Red Eye have published or televised them.
Have you noticed that besides being prophetic about Obama fascism are our economic collapse, Ayn Rand is also prophetic about the optics of modern politics: on one side we have healthy athletic families like Scott Brown, the Romneys, the Palins, etc. and on the other we have fugly liar Chuck Schumer, lardo nut case Alan Grayson, ugly fatso Barney Frank, screeching bitch Debbie Wasserwhatshername, rabbit toothed harridan Joan Walsh, wooden FrankenKerry, flatulant bloated cow Al Bore, monster toothed scowling Michelle Obama, plastic face bobblehead Nancy Pelosi, and walking cadaver Harry Reid.
Bruce,"fugly liar Chuck Schumer, lardo nut case Alan Grayson, ugly fatso Barney Frank, screeching bitch Debbie Wasserwhatshername, rabbit toothed harridan Joan Walsh, wooden FrankenKerry, flatulant bloated cow Al Bore, monster toothed scowling Michelle Obama, plastic face bobblehead Nancy Pelosi, and walking cadaver Harry Reid" and on the other hand we have Bruce Majors hiding behind a campaign poster for Brown.
Have you noticed?
Nifong, Spitzer, Coakley, et al.
The right gets roundly characterized as the Nazi-like Law-and-Order folks, but it's the Left-wing folks who are guilty of astonishing prosecutorial misconduct.
Prosecutorial misconduct has no correlation with law and order. In fact there is an inverse correlation.
Agreed, but Coakley wasn't showing her weenus off in the pages of Cosmo now was she? OK, maybe she was, I don't know about any of that. What I do know is there's nothing more despicable than some one willing to abuse their power and authority, framing innocent people destroying their lives, and for what, selfish scheming.
The toe-rag is just fortunate justice, like the Constitution, isn't even given lip service these days, because if there was any justice she'd have a hella lot to pay for.
MNG,
I might be one of your GOP shills, I voted for GW twice.
I voted for Barr, but if my vote would have been the vote that made the difference, I would have voted for Obama to prevent McCain from being president.
In any other circumstance I would not vote for this Brown guy. I think Rinos are more harmful than Dems, but in this case I thing Brown needs to be voted for. I can't understand why you don't understand this.
A matter of "misunderstanding"? Naah. A matter of MNG hoping MNG's claims of 'lack of purity' could alter a vote or two. Lefty agit-prop.

Just for sake of argument say the incidents mentioned by Duncan actually happened then I'd say, considering the numbers of innocent bystanders and cops killed by cops in an equivalent time period, we've all done so well we deserve commendation.
That being said, judging from his picture he looks like a beady eyed little sneak, and his crossed arms, back leaning posture says judgementalist/do-gooder who wants it known he 'does not approve. Not exactly the type well know for their honesty.
If it makes him feel any less bitchy and upset, he should be pleased to learn that here in Montana a law exempting us from federal law and regulation of our sonic suppressors (silencers), intended for use on firearms. Knowing we'll be performing our murders without undesirable noise pollution needlessly disturbing uninvolved persons or wildlife is very positive development and should save quit a few lives of those who otherwise would have heard the weapon(s) being discharged making them potential witnesses leaving no option, for a mature and responsible muderer at least, but to mop-up by murdering them too.
"feel any less bitchy and upset" What kind of slur is this?
That was horrible.
"That being said, judging from his picture he looks like a beady eyed little sneak, and his crossed arms, back leaning posture says judgementalist/do-gooder who wants it known he 'does not approve. I know! We got this far in the thread without a single J. Geils Band reference?
Massachusetts is the birthplace of our republic. Its citizens can be noteworthy again this Tuesday by defeating Coakley and perhaps dealing a death blow to ObamaCare. They can be heroes to a grateful nation. I hope they'll do the right thing.
Finally a post that is not by a half-wit
I just visited both of their sites and watched their videos, read about their platform. Basically, they both suck equally. I mean they both really really suck. This ass munching jackass Moynihan seems to favor that piece of fuckin rotten turd Brown and if Moynihan is truly a libertarian and not some fake libertarian republican conservative ass muncher than he should be writing just as much of a criticism of that useless turd eating crap fucker Brown.

This is about knifing the Obama regime in the side as the beginning of the revolution to throw the fascists out of office and prevent them from erecting a totalitarian state you oblivious fool
"Coakley's defenders say that a poorly run campaign?and not skepticism of ObamaCare?is driving her poll numbers south"
Isn't that basically stating that the people who support Coakley are saying "our candidates incompetence and and the incompetence of those she trusts with authority is running this campaign into the ground"
Are her "Defenders" throwing her under the bus to help Obama save face? With defenders like that who needs opponents...
Those defenders include the Coffee Fetcher in Chief. Jesse Jackson's dream of a castrated Barack Obama achieved by Martin Luther King day: coffee fetcher in chief Obama wimps out and doesn't mention health care in campaign speeches in Boston for Martha Coakley
Her campaign failure may not be due to healthcare reform itself but because of the special interest groups receiving deals.
Jesus christ, that Coakley person seems like a complete ass.
No she is a whore. Supping it up a few days ago with the same corporate crony lobbyists who populate the fascist Obama regime.
After these people are thrown out of office they need to be tried, incarcerated, exiled, or sent to the guillotine.
Bruce Majors,"No she is a whore...they need to be tried, incarcerated, exiled, or sent to the guillotine." You forgot to put a scarlet letter on the little whore.
I just heard on the Hannity show that she was responsible for letting a man off for raping a 23 month old baby with a hot curling iron. Well, she stalled for over a year until someone else took over and prosecuted him which led to life sentence Thank God!!! So, in writing about the people she convicted wrongly why did you not mention the one that she would not? I am new to politics my husband knows alot though. Anyway, I am a mother of a 10 month old baby girl and I was and still am horrified by what that man did to that baby! How can Martha a women not be!!!
Heard it on Hannity??? Then it's GOT to be true.
It is real.
Maybe public employees will get free rape and child molestation passes along with tax exemptions for cadillac insurance policies in the Obama regime. Heil!
If you weren't a fool you would realize that between MSLDC, PMS, the Washington Piss, the NY Slime etc and Hannity, Hannity is more accurate and newsworthy. Though Breitbart, Rush, and Drudge are better.
If you weren't a fool that is.
Heard it on Hannity??? Then it's GOT to be true.
Actually i read read it at reason. Scroll up to read Balko's piece.
Today Obama went out with his teleprompter speech of lies of the usual class warfare stating that Brown is in with the Wall street fat cats, insurance companies, no health care for the poor and he wants to take the candy fron our children. He sickens me. Please donate money to Browns campaign. We need to win this one. This can ensure the end of Obamacare. Check out suckitupcrybaby.com
How long before Obama blames unemployment on the greedy hook-nosed Jews and starts building showers?
And here are some of the people who came out to see him. Seems a fair number of people who are ineligible to vote for Coakley padded the reported number of rally attendees.
Anyone care to guess how many people attending Scott Brown's rally in Worcester came from New York state to see him? I would imagine it to be much lower than the same group who came to see Obama (oh, and that Coakley person or whatever.)
It is love love love.
I can understand a strategic vote for Scott Brown to break Democrat power, but he is far from being libertarian. He actually advocates treating American citizens arrested in America as enemy combatants. That's right, no Constitutional protections for US citizens, just ship 'em off to Camp Gitmo. I don't know how you get much less libertarian than that --even Bush eventually tried Jose Padilla in Federal District Court.
Easy. Coakley or Obama would arrest you for not buying insurance and Cass Sunstein would arrest your for discussing conspiracy theories on the internet
Or maybe something like this (in California).
http://www.signonsandiego.com/.....ire-nazis/
You're not from MA, are you? Scott Brown gave us the same thing here in Romneycare! (By law, you now must have health insurance in MA) He's promised to help other states pass the same legislation. He's better than Coakley, but he's not the small gov't guy people seem to think he is.
Jesse Jackson's dream of a castrated Barack Obama achieved by Martin Luther King day: coffee fetcher in chief Obama wimps out and doesn't mention health care in campaign speeches in Boston for Martha Coakley
Talk of "filling...Kenndy's seat" is a little ridiculous, considering the size of the late senator's pachydermous fundament.
Obama is the reason this seat is lost.
US people have decided they do not want to be treated like children.
Career politicians, college professors, and ms media folks should satisfy their need to tell others what to do by changing to a career in the infant day care industry.
Y-a-a-a-r-r-r! Thar be more "gaffs" in the Coakley campaign than in a whole fleet o' schooners.
My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I'm sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane. Even some cursory knowledge of Hebrew and doing some mathematics and logic will tell you that you really won't get the full deal by just doing regular skill english reading for those books. In other words, there's more to the books of the Bible than most will ever grasp. I'm not concerned that Mr. Crumb will go to hell or anything crazy like that! It's just that he, like many types of religionists, seems to take it literally, take it straight...the Bible's books were not written by straight laced divinity students in 3 piece suits who white wash religious beliefs as if God made them with clothes on...the Bible's books were written by people with very different mindsets...in order to really get the Books of the Bible, you have to cultivate such a mindset, it's literally a labyrinth, that's no joke.
My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I'm sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane.

Ugg boots (sometimes called uggs or ug boots) have been considered a fashion trend since the early 2000s.The combination of its soft shank and sheepskin interior means that ugg boots are designed for casual, short-term use, and not for situations which require sturdy, protective footwear, as the design emphasis is on style and comfort rather than protecting the feet. While in the boot, the sockless foot is in full contact with the sheepskin lining, thereby maximizing the insulative properties of the boot.
