Lobbyists for Coakley
With the 60th vote for ObamaCare at risk, lobbyists for the pharmaceutical and health insurance industries are going all out to keep a Republican from capturing Ted Kennedy's Senate seat and thus to preserve the president's health care legislation. If that surprises you, you haven't been paying attention.

Joe....paging Joe.....
Even Chony would do.
Joe is manning the phones, knocking on doors and doing whatever else he can to help the campaign to keep Massachusetts safe for Healthcare Reform Big Pharma.
We're gonna show those mean old insurance companies who's boss!
Who was it awhile back who blogged on H&R that it was a CitiFinancial employee's moral responsibility to make a loan even if they knew it would be damaging to the customer, because they have a contract with their employer?
Is it an employee's responsibility to fight for repulsive legislation if it's good for their company?
If that's what they are paid to do, then I would say they have a responsibility to do their job, or quit.
Very, very few employees are paid to lobby or campaign, though, so mostly, no, its not.
I don't want to get my hopes up, because we are talking about Massachusetts after all, but the latest democratic Public Policy Polling poll among likely voters shows the race as a virtual dead heat, which is shocking to me.
it completely depends on turnout... the PPP poll had a very narrow likely voter screen. Brown supporters are more pumped up. This could come down to what the weather is on election. If its raining/ snowing or is very cold, its good for Brown. If its a nice day out, Coakley has the advantage.
Won't matter. The Dems say if he wins, they won't seat him until after the Obamacare vote.
Democracy in action, baby! Its all about the will of the peepul!
Wonder if the Dems will do yet another rule change, like the one they did after Ted died...
I don't know. The "don't swear him in until after the vote" idea is likely to get the Dems a ton of bad press. Not that they aren't getting it already, but still....
The other thing is that it would give an out to nervous Dems. They could just vote against the bill and say they were for it but they were just voting against the sleazy ways it was passing.
Anyone who wants to vote against the bill because of the sleazy way its passing already has all the ammo they need.
No way. They actually said that?
Realistically, I still have to think that it would take almost a miracle for Brown to pull it out.
But the fact that this race might possibly even be competitive is yet more proof that the dems should be scared shitless.
You've got to bet that for this race the ACORN types will be out in full force with their voting shenanigans.
And if it's a close race and Brown wins, and then they do that "let's do recounts and find 'missing ballots' until the Democrat wins and then stop" thing, I'll be trying hard not to go postal.
Personally, I think these dudes have totally lost their marbles!

Can't the anonymity bot guys get a copy of Eliza to make their automatic posts more interesting?
We wouldn't be able to distinguish them from real posters then.
Anagram of BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA:
ARAB ABUSES MOCHA KIN
cool site, but I prefer
"President Barack Hussein Obama" -> "A Democrat speaks inane rubbish."
You shouldn't use 'Coakley' in a headline so close to the death of Art Clokey. For a minute there I thought Goliath might be vying for Kennedy's seat.
