Wow, massive kudos to whoever decided to use that still frame for the video. It looks like a side-by-side comparison of two different porn stars o-faces.

  2. hmm   16 years ago

I love financial analysts that are so myopic that they can't argue more than one point or heaven forbid a broader point at any given time. No really nothing is relevant except this number at this exact point in time. Really that's all we need to look at.

You want systemic problem? Start with the people like we just saw. The same damn thinking got us where we are now and we aren't flushing these tards out of the system. We are promoting them into government and putting them on TV.

  3. hmm   16 years ago

You should have asked if this whole GM situation occurred in a bubble. Especially since he took the low road with "it looks great on paper, but in the real world..."

ok done ranting, talking heads get me going.

  4. Hazel Meade   16 years ago

Oh, please, let them go into bankruptcy.
Let this not be a maneuvering tactic.

  5. Chri C   16 years ago

Haha, holy shit, nick is upset

  6. hmm   16 years ago

I should note I was talking about the auto analyst and his unwillingness to consider all the relevant information on the topic. In case that wasn't clear. People of his ilk are almost enough to put me in a bell tower.

  7. Episiarch   16 years ago

Wow, Nick, I admire your self control. I'd have called Lebeau an asshole after about 10 seconds.

  8. stubby   16 years ago

    Holy crap. Where's the jacket?

That's not really Nick, is it? That's a Nick stand in. You can't fool me - The Jacket doesn't let Nick go anywhere by himself.

  9. Atabrat   16 years ago

I would've thought that guy on the right was too big to fail. I was wrong.

  10. Warren   16 years ago

Excellent job Nick. That earns you a TWTW

  11. Bob   16 years ago

    Vote Nick Gillespie for king!

  12. Orange Line Special   16 years ago

I saw Nick Gillespie on another show just a couple days ago. Or, maybe it was one of these two.

  13. zbillster   16 years ago

Aw, Nick, you bought a BUICK? And you work for a magazine named "Reason"??? I've lost my respect for you.

    Buy rationally ... get a Honda! 🙂

  14. Daniel Reeves   16 years ago

    Good job Nick.

Even Joe Stiglitz is for bankruptcy, and he makes a good case for it. Come on. I don't think there's really a single buoyant case for bailing out the U.S. car industry.

  15. RL   16 years ago

Great job Nick. Your opponent speaks as if the multibillion dollar bailout was some obscure historical reference, occurring before his birth, not relevant to current issues. IT WAS A FUCKING FEW MONTHS AGO!! And he really wants to argue that it was a good deal for the taxpayer because it converted an uncontrolled bankruptcy into a controlled bankruptcy. And that's a serious argument for talking heads today?

  16. P Brooks   16 years ago

Lebeau is so deep in the pocket of those Detroit guys, he should be on GM's payroll. He parrots their PR line to the letter.

He probably locked himself in the bathroom and sobbed uncontrollably when he heard Wagoner got tossed over the side.

  17. Xeones   16 years ago

    Shut the fuck up, LoneWacko.

    Shut the fuck up, PhilLebeau.

  18. ChrisH   16 years ago

    Righteous, Nick. Righteous.

I have sympathy for Mr. Lebeau in terms of his thinking, hey, this is a business show and we're just here to talk about the numbers. But I think when you see you're up against someone wearing a "Too Big To Fail" shirt, it's time to bring your Broader Issues game.

The fact that Nick has doffed leather for the T-shirt shows that in a time when sacrifice is demanded, Nick is ready to do his part.

  19. Steven   16 years ago

I love that you wore a dick joke t-shirt on CNBC.

  20. Tim Cavanaugh   16 years ago

Phil Lebeau is CBC's automotive correspondent. How can any Canadian worthy of the name not be ecstatic to see GM or any other American behemoth going out of business? I mean, however painful it might be for the excellent people of Windsor, Ontario (and I mean that: excellent people! jolly good!), shouldn't he be happy just out of patriotism?

  21. the innominate one   16 years ago

Tim - wouldn't Chrysler going out of business mean the loss of many Canadian jobs? aren't a lot of Chrysler vehicles actually assembled in Canada?

  22. err..   16 years ago

    Nick is so kick-ass.
