Particularly Stupid DMCA Claim Abandoned

|

While the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) we still have with us (and for full details on what a drag that is, see this classic Reason book review by Mike Godwin from 2001), one particularly egregious and idiotic attempt to use it has been abandoned: Internet nuisance Michael Crook is withdrawing his DMCA claims regarding the use of a Fox News screenshot of him by the nifty site 10 Zen Monkeys. (The Electronic Freedom Foundation had sued him right back for his attempts to squash fair use on the Internet.)

Scott Beale at laughingsquid.com, the Monkeys' hosting company, has all the details so far public.

My previous blogging about Crook's claims, chockablock with links for the full context.
