Homer Simpson: "No matter how big of an idiot I am, I can never lose my job. I'm like a Supreme Court Justice."
The Simpsons premiered when I was in Kindergarten. I remember watching the Christmas Special in December 1989 on my TV with rabbit-ear antennas and a manual channel dial--no remote control. (We wouldn't get cable till I was in the Fourth Grade.) Nearly four decades later, The Simpsons is still on. I admittedly stopped watching the show in the late 1990s, but from time to time a clip is relevant.
This one provided just enough comic relief (at 1:31):

The joke would work a little better if you didn't write pearl-clunching articles about how mean everyone is to poor Justice Alito and his poor long-suffering wife for no reason at all.
You Josh haters amaze me at how you can't just skip his articles, like you have some duty to remind the world how much you hate his articles. It's fun pointing it out and watching your JDS react with more outrage.
The guy likes his job, likes quibbling about laws, likes explaining laws, and actually educates about laws more than all his detractors combined even if you don't agree with him. He treats the courts like Fantasy Justice League. And you guys are like Snidely Whiplash, mad because sweet Nell won't stay tied to the railroad tracks.
Well, we already knew you were an idiot.
So you're saying we shouldn't criticize Blackman because he doesn't have any sense of shame.
I'm saying, and I did say, but you didn't read, that complaining about Josh writing articles that bore you or are not worth reading, is silly.
Waaaah, Josh is wasting my time!
They have a compulsion to show their unfounded disdain, even on humor posts.
Its performative. A club initiation, all the kool kids hate JB.
Pot, kettle, etc.
Well, no. Statists are terrible at humor. As my Stalin t-shirt says, "Dark humor is like food. Not everyone gets it."
Tips on humor brought to you by the same people who laughed at Paul Pelosi for having the temerity to be struck in the head with a hammer in the entryway of his own home!
Buddy, I'm quoting a fake quote by one of your heroes. Don't you appreciate small favors?
Est,
Stupid Govt mis-typed. He intended to write,
"Yeah, it was embarrassing and horrifying what many on my side did after the dreadful attack on Mr. Pelosi. I wish those people hadn't said or written what they did. Their words don't represent any normal human being blessed with a conscience or integrity."
You're welcome, SGT 🙂
Bob, you seem to mind that a lot less when people have the same compulsion over Prof. Somin's posts. I wonder why?
Nobody wonders why. He makes no bones about his nihilism. Principles on Bob are as tits on a broom.
Ha ha your complaint about strawmanning on their part is completely a straw man. The original comment said nothing about his articles being boring or not worth reading.
I hear a lot of throat-clearing coming through the internet even though the sound on my computer is turned off.
Best Josh column ever
It would be better suited as a comment to today's Open Thread...though that doesn't mean you're wrong.
Bart Simpson will grow up to be Chief Justice (at least according to some episodes).
Or a male stripper, depending on the choices he makes.
Or he could be both, like the late Earl Warren.
More likely this.
Schrödinger's penis????
I was wrong -- it's 300 Federal judges we need to impeach & remove.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand you're still wrong.
Note that Dr Ed is never able to name those judges and state what impeachable offences they've committed.
What made you change your mind?
it's 300 Federal judges we need to impeach & remove.
I'll bet the idea of Congress shunting them off into desk jobs severed from power no longer seems like a cool idea any more.
Sounds like a comment on tenure at a law school in Houston...
They gave us the ability to block commenters so we wouldn't need to see Kirkland's comments. When are they gonna give us the ability to block conspirators, so we don't have to see Blackman's posts?
Or Ilya's....
I never dreamed he was a member of the Federalist Society...
I’m sure that’s true, but the reason is the usual one (i.e. the fact that you’re an idiot).
As I recall, there was a way back in the halcyon http://www.volokh.com days.
There is no surprise that a bottom-10-of-his-law-class Biden would appoint one of the worst judges of my lifetime, Brown. Term limits or increased oversight misses the point: A stupid President will appont jerks. Does anybody not recognize the very low quality of Kagan and Sotomayor ????????????????
A check of the Federal Judiciary Center reveals that there have been 19 federal judges in American history named "Brown," but none of them were appointed by Joe Biden. (Trump appointed three, however!)
