A Conversation with Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar
One of the nation's finest oral advocates discusses representing the United States in the Supreme Court and other topics.
Earlier this month, the Case Western Reserve University School of Law hosted a conversation with U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar for the 2024 Sumner Canary Lecture.
The hour-long discussion covered a range of issues, from the responsibilities of the Solicitor General's office, preparing for oral argument, the "emergency docket," and (of particular importance to some of us) whether the Administrative Procedure Act should be understood to authorize nationwide vacatur.
The National Law Journal and CWRU Observer both covered the event. Video is below.
A list of prior Canary lectures, including video of remarks by (then judges) Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Barrett can be found here.

Oh, if only the Revolting Reverend were around to Denigrate the SG’s Georgia Law School (since he’s not, I will, like Milhouse supposedly said after J. Edgar Hoover died, “I want the cock sucker back”)
In Jaw-Jaw we (OK, who didn’t get in) refer to Emory as “Enema” University, and it’s “Teaching Hospital” Grody/Grady, only applied there as I was born at Crawford Wong (Famous Chinese Anesthesiologist) Hospital, which in the tradition of Pro Sports Stadiums has been renamed “Dulcolax Memorial Hospital (just kidding it’s “Enema Hospital Midtown”)
They did their Med School Interviews like "The Dating Game" 3 applicants each trying to suck the Interviewers more than the other 2. My competition was 2 Duke Lacrosse players if that gives you any idea, that's who (used) to get in, now it's guys/girls/indeterminate with alot of Clicks and Glottal Stops in their names
The SG is a cutie though, does she really have to wear Tie & Tails?

My Bad H8-ers, the SG went to Hah-Vud Law (Of Course) what I said about Enema University stands. Pretty large % of the student bodies are Hebrew, but of course the Schools big into Divestment, that and their relationship with Jimmuh Cartuh (his Li-berry is there, and he's got "Tenure" he has the "Worst POTUS of all Time" chair) were enough to have my daughters go to Georgia Tech

Ed Whelan notes several serious issues with her filings in US v Skrmetti

additional comments from Ed Whelan

Whelan seems to overlook the term "appropriate" in Prelogar's statement. As Hilary Cass herself has said "There are young people who absolutely benefit from a medical pathway, and we need to make sure that those young people have access — under a research protocol, because we need to improve the research — but not assume that that's the right pathway for everyone."
Read James Cantor Phd's report filed with the district court. extensive documentation , citations etc.
the link to the filing is here

James Cantor Phd
The credentialism of the wannabe.
Why would I read him rather the person who authored the report you cited?
the article cited 3-4, not just cass
Whelan cites the availability of the Cass review to argue Prelogar’s statement must have been knowingly untrue.
“But even at the time she filed her certiorari petition, SG Prelogar had ample reason to know that her assertion of “overwhelming evidence” was untrue. Dr. Cass’s interim report, published in March 2022, “highlighted major gaps and weaknesses in the research base underpinning the clinical management of children and young people with gender incongruence and gender dysphoria, including the appropriate approaches to assessment and treatment.” That interim report “highlighted that little is known about the medium- and longer-term outcomes for children and young people receiving NHS support and/or treatment” for gender dysphoria. (I’m quoting what the Cass Review says about the interim report.)”
But he seems to have misunderstood the conclusions of the Cass report as Cass’ quotation supra strongly suggests.
Why ignore Finland's , Sweden's , France's, Norway's , medical boards Cantor cited or any of the other citations in his paper. 10-12 pages of citations
Why focus on only one study
If Whelan (and you) have misunderstood one of the studies you prominently cite it's likely y'all will others.
Suicidality
15.36 As discussed in Part 3, it is well
established that children and young people
with gender dysphoria are at increased risk
of suicide, but suicide risk appears to be
comparable to other young people with a
similar range of mental health and psychosocial
challenges. Some clinicians feel under
pressure to support a medical pathway based
on widespread reporting that gender-affirming
treatment reduces suicide risk. This conclusion
was not supported by the above systematic
review.
If you had your dick and balls cut off and then regretted it, wouldn't you kill yourself?
That statement does not seem to appear in the final report,
The following is repeated several times in the final cass report
"For the majority of young people,
a medical pathway may not be the best way
to achieve this."
that is a far cry from Prelogar's statement to the Court,
