"D.C. lawmaker who said Jews control the weather visits Holocaust Museum but leaves early"
Not an Onion headline (but maybe subconsciously influenced by one).
The Washington Post (Peter Jameson) has the headline, and the story (for more on the Council member's earlier "Rothschilds controlling the climate" "to own the cities" incident, see here):
The photo, taken in 1935, depicts a woman in a dark dress shuffling down a street in Norden, Germany. A large sign hangs from her neck: "I am a German girl and allowed myself to be defiled by a Jew." She is surrounded by Nazi stormtroopers.
D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (D-Ward 8) studied the image. "Are they protecting her?"
Lynn Williams, an expert on educational programs at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and White's tour guide for the day, stared at the photo.
"No," she said. "They're marching her through."
"Marching through is protecting," White said.
"I think they're humiliating her," Williams replied.

"With him was Rabbi Batya Glazer of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, a group that has been heavily involved in the first-term Democratic lawmaker's public rehabilitation."
They're trying so hard to rehabilitate him, but it doesn't look like he's doing his part.
After White left the tour early, his staff filled in for him in the sensitivity department:
"The tour, scheduled to last 90 minutes, was halfway done. Seven of White's staff members stayed with the guide, who soon was showing them an exhibit on the Warsaw Ghetto. As she explained the walling in of Polish Jews, one aide asked whether it was similar to "a gated community.""
Outside the museum:
""This opportunity has given me the chance to meet a lot of great Jews, a lot of people. A lot of good Jews that I've never had the chance to meet before," he said after a long silence. "It's an awesome experience.""
He went on to say that he hoped these nice Jewish people would arrange for good weather on the day of his re-election fundraiser. OK, I'm kidding about that part.
"Rabbi Batya Glazer"
A shanda.
He needs to take a listen to the diaries and autobiographies. If that doesn't make a connection there really is no hope.
Damn. The gift that keeps on giving. Could he be an undercover writer for The Onion?
Truth is stranger than fiction because fiction has to sound plausible.
Sounds like he breezed right through his visit.
Sometimes it's better to just keep your idiocy to yourself.
Well except for the Conspirators.
This place would be no fun without True American Parrot's input.
"Marching through is protecting," White said. "I think they're humiliating her," Williams replied. "Can't it be both?" White (possibly) asked.
Fun Fact: The Bataan Death March was actually a protection detail. Don't blame the Japanese just because some disgruntled POW's didn't appreciate the effort.
I missed the demands for his resignation.
I mean we have a real live office holding Jew hater. Some rando Nazi runs in a no hope congressional district, its a national story with dark implications about the party.
I wonder what the difference is?
You're wondering what the difference is between an ignorant councilman who, despite his continued ignorance, has repeatedly apologized and made an effort ? however sustained ? to address that ignorance, and an unabashed actual Nazi running as the GOP's standard-bearer in an Illinois Congressional race?
This is a question your permanent victimhood has led you to ask?
Speaking of standard bearers...
Third-Highest House Democrat Shared Stage With Farrakhan, Now Refuses To Denounce
The person you dismiss as merely ignorant wields actual power. As such, he is far worse than some candidate with no hope of winning.
I see no difference between a Nazi and White when it comes to Jews except White has people willing to make excuses about him.
Actual Nazi. Literally, a Nazi. You are literally defending a card-carrying Nazi all so you can score some butthurt points. Maybe instead of fretting and fainting over the ultimate unfairness of life and how poorly Nazis are treated in this country, you could pay a little more attention to that. But if it will unwrinkle your panties, yes, White should step down. If not for the original incident, then for his continued stupidity.
By the way, I haven't seen you speak out against the Nazi, only on behalf. I wonder what the difference is?
"literally defending"
Yes, you are literally defending White, a Jew hater who aligns with your political party.
Please cite me "defending" the Nazi. Seems to me I am attacking both.
Except I am not defending White. Otherwise, you nailed it.
Actual Nazi, dude. Actual Nazi.
As for a cite, whimpering about incongruous treatment of that poor Nazi is a defense.
Its not the treatment of the Nazi, its the use of him as a hammer to attack republicans that is the problem.
But you keep defending the Jew hating councilman. Literal Jew hater, dude, Jew hater.
On this, I'm with Bob - the Nazi says something about the GOP electorate in that district perhaps, but he got in because the national party decided the district wasn't competitive and didn't bother to make any kind of primary.
Though Bob trying to nail Dems nationally for this one local guy is about as silly.
The councilman has demonstrated continued implicit anti-semitism despite attempts to educate him. He should be removed.
Then remove him. I have no objection. Nooner who would ask what he asked about the photo is too stupid to serve. Of course, that slippery slope leads right to the Oval Office, but I'm sure that won't be an issue.
A compliant media?
The Photo That Never Saw The Light of Day: Obama With [racist and anti-semite Louis] Farrakhan in 2005
Nice to see you linking TPM, but Obama standing next to Farrakhan is pretty weak sauce.

Jews have a long history of very wrong-headed political judgments. Ask the Trotskys and the Bronsteins.
Huh?
"The Trotskys make the revolution, and the Bronsteins pay the price." A fairly well-known saying.
What's really shocking here is hearing them looking at the pictures and literally not seeing them, attempting to describe them in terms of imaginary Jewish supremacy.
The Warsaw ghetto a "gated community"? A person being paraded by a lynch mob being "protected"?
If you want to see how the most extreme of racists see the world, people who have so insulated themselves from the humanity of their targets that they are unable even to perceive their suffering while staring at it in the face, then look, see for yourself, here it is, this is what they are like.
Very early in the Holocaust, on 19 August 1941, when a German unit shot the adults in the Russian village of Byelaya Tserkow, an army chaplain managed to persuade a German military officer to protect a group of children under 6, who were left to cry for a couple of days before the orders were overridden and they, too, were shot. The chaplain and officer were severely reprimanded for causing an inhumane situation. All that crying and noise being allowed to bother people, to get them all upset, and not having the decency to cut it off from the beginning.
Here it is. That exact mentality. This is what it is like.
No, White "apologized", is just "ignorant" and is a Democrat. Its totally different.
I love it when conservatives and Republicans -- including those who operate and comment at a white*, male*, right-wing blog -- voluntarily talk about intolerance (racism, gay-bashing, misogyny, xenophobia, etc.).
Mostly because I tend to prefer that conservative and Republican candidates and positions do not prevail -- and do not mind watching an opponent send one into its own goal.

Pray tell us, rev, what is your complexion and sex?
I'm guessing you're not a woman. I'm also guessing that you're of a pale orientation. That's OK - it doesn't make you a worse or a better person.
I'm pretty tired of seeing politically divided people blame "the other party" for all the bad stuff. This kind of thing is bad, it's bad if it's Republicans, it's bad if it's Democrats, it's bad if it's Libertarians, it's bad if it's Islamists. There are antisemites in all political groups, apparently, and it's bad to be antisemitic no matter what group you're in.
Stop fighting over which side does more of it and start fighting the bad behavior itself.
OK. Trayon White is an imbecile. He is an extremely poor choice for any sort of responsible position. No disagreement there.
Now, compare the Tennessee legislature.
Make sure you watch the brief video.
No second for a resolution denouncing white nationalism and neo-Nazis.
Punish Memphis for taking down Confederate statues. Nice people.
...That's "Councilman Imbecile", to you.
Your response is merely a Kirklandian tu quoque (always a strong play) about politics.
The statues mean different things to different people; if Memphis wants to play political games in order to remove the things, the legislature can be expected to respond.
I also like the article's author insinuating that people (or, maybe just white people) from small jurisdictions should not have the temerity to try to pass laws that offend city folk (especially, I guess, if said folk are non-white)
Yes, SLAR. It is a tu quoque. You are right. And normally not a strong argument. But what I am pointing out is EV's penchant for publicizing idiocy and bad behavior on the left but hardly ever on his side. He has, IMO, become much more of a partisan over the past year or so.
As to TN, why is it "political games" when Memphis wants to remove statues that mean something vile to most of its citizens, and not political games when the legislature wants to punish the city for doing so, because the statues mean something else - the nobility of defending slavery I guess - to people who don't live there?
I thought conservatives were all for decentralized decision-making. Not when it comes to cities, as usual.
And I notice you failed to comment on the part of the article that was more directly relevant to the OP. They couldn't pass a resolution condemning white nationalism and neo-Nazis. What do you think about that? Or is it just another "means different things to different people" deal to you?
In light of the visitor's wholesale misapprehension of the realities disclosed by the Holocaust museum, and in light of his earlier (generously construed) faux pas, the early departure may have been for the best, foreshortening as it may have any further opportunities for displays of (generously put) bias.
