Does MAGA Want Unity and Peace—or Vengeance?
Reason's Zach Weissmueller talked with Trump supporters at the Republican National Convention about heated rhetoric, the weaponization of government, and plans for unity.
HD DownloadThe Republican Party has toned down the rhetoric about the deep state and any talk of vengeance against former President Donald Trump's political enemies in this year's Republican National Convention. With Trump in a commanding polling lead following a near-assassination, the convention's theme is "unity."
"Just like our ancestors, we must now come together, rise above past differences. Any disagreements have to be put aside, and go forward united as one people, one nation, pledging allegiance to one great, beautiful—I think it's so beautiful—American flag," Trump said in his closing speech.
The Trump supporters Reason spoke to at the convention weren't particularly heated, and many genuinely seemed to want both sides to tone down their rhetoric after the attempt on Trump's life.
"I'm hoping that some of the things that have been going on are way scaled back going forward," Glenn "Kane" Jacobs, the libertarian mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, told Reason. "Because it's horrible for our country, the situation that we're in. My fear is that a few weeks from now, we're right back here, and I hope that doesn't happen."
But will Trump's actions match his supporters' words? The statements and policy positions of those around him give us some clues. His former chief strategist and popular radio host Steve Bannon made it very clear that vengeance is on his agenda.
"We're being oppressed by an illegitimate regime that usurped power here, and that's what we have to break," Bannon told Tucker Carlson on a June 11 appearance on his show. "You see [former FBI deputy director Andrew] McCabe and these guys wetting themselves, 'They're going to come after us.' Damn right, we're going to come after you…within the rule of law."
Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation—a major sponsor of the conference and author of a 900-page policy brief called Project 2025—called for a "second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless, if the left allows it to be" on Bannon's show on July 2.
Bannon and conference sponsor Heritage Foundation aren't directly involved with the Trump campaign, but his new running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R–Ohio), is no stranger to heated rhetoric either. He once told The American Conservative that "our people hate the right people." Vance has also suggested that the right shouldn't necessarily reduce government power but rather "just seize the administrative state for our own purposes" and ignore any court rulings trying to stop that from happening. Trump has vowed to overhaul the Department of Justice (DOJ), and two of his former appointees authored a piece titled "The US Justice Department is Not Independent" that argues for the president's power to dismiss any DOJ lawyer who doesn't strictly "obey" the president's demands.

Are you guys turning into a daily show version of MSNBC?
You have more videos here than you did the libertarian convention. Imagine asking that block questions.
TikTok style reaction videos are a tad beyond Reason’s current production resources, so they’re going to stick with this bit for a while.

Lefties can't meme, so do you want to explain to us what his point was?
"Lefties can’t meme"
And you think that says something bad about their side, not yours? Interesting worldview.
Not being able to grasp the art of succinct humorous satire a single image and a few choice words actually makes lefties better?
Interesting world view.
Your comment directly contradicts itself.

These recurring pearl clutching articles are ridiculous.
I dunno. If unity and peace means they compromise, does this mean asking the other side to drop only half of their politically motivated prosecutions?
Clearly what Maga wants is to win and to reverse every significant policy they disagree with. If you can square that mission with one that still seeks unity, then I imagine they're on board.
There's certainly some signs of trying to find reasonably compromised positions-federalism, for example. The GOP wants abortion decided by the states, which is an update. That can definitely be a unifying message since it tells people not try to force a national answer to a divisive question. However, pro abortion activists are absolutely enraged by federalizing this issue so they do not see it as compromising or creating unity.
Unity is in the eye of the beholder.
It's amazing how many people still do not understand that the left will not compromise on any issue.
"Compromise" with the left means "give them what they want" and nothing else will satisfy them. It's a fact that's been observable for 60 years to anyone bothering to look.
Homple, coming at us from his parents basement.
Well there's an odd little non-sequitur.
Yeah - its all about facts and reasoned arguments with his type. /s
To the left, "compromise" means more closer to our position than the status quo. Unfortunately, to the GOP, "compromise" appears to mean don't move as far left as the left admits they want.
"In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit."
(Also applies to any compromise between evil and evil, but that's almost tautological).
And in any compromise between stupid and evil, evil is probably the only side that profits as well.
In other words, the Mises Institite *motto* (if not always their policy, but still far more than most anyone else I've seen) is the only logical and moral choice: Tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito.
To the left compromise is ONLY ever in THEIR direction. They never offer anything of real value to the other side. Xiden's border order was basically just codifying what's already happening, saying it can't get worse (but leaving the current unsustainable situation in place), and probably ignoring it anyway when inconvenient like the left (and neocon right) do(es) with basically almost everything they can get away with.
Giving the left what they want has never satisfied them, they epitomize the notion of " give someone an inch and they'll take a mile". Once they get what hey want, they immediately want something more outrageous.
The slightest concession will be unscrupulously exploited.
“Clearly what Maga wants is to win and to reverse every significant policy they disagree with. ” You mean, like Biden did to MAGA, with disastrous results.
And abortion IS a state issue, just like murder, marriage, rape, schools and on and on. Let’s get BOTH parties the hell out of every dammed thing.
does this mean asking the other side to drop only half of their politically motivated prosecutions?
That isn't how real checks and balances and separation of powers works. It isn't about being nice and getting along. If we have weaponized or politicized prosecutions, it is because we have lost the checks on the executive branch. Where the Attorney General has simply become an instrument of the President rather than having some independent or semi-independent authority.
Most of our states have that element of independent authority by having Attorney General be a separately elected position from the Governor. Some countries split that Cabinet department into split authorities depending on what type of crime is being prosecuted.
Maybe we've given too much authority to a Prez.
We have stripped the president of his constitutional authority and put it in the hands of the DOJ and intel and DOD. And we have loaded the president up with the authority that rightly belongs to congress.
So I agree in part, that the current shape of the president does not represent the constitutional office. But I think a lot of people are kinda clueless on what the office of president SHOULD have authority over (constitutionally)
"That can definitely be a unifying message since it tells people not try to force a national answer to a divisive question. "
It isn't unifying to say, "we took your individual right to decide away and gave them to the government. Just accept it". Any time the government steals rights from people, submission is never acceptable.
If Biden remains in the race, we'll get a chance to see what "unity" looks like to Heirtage and the hard right. God help us all.
Trump’s opposition has had him tied in lawfare for eight years wanting to bankrupt and jail him, attempted to block him from ballot access (or battle box access per the guy Zach voted for last time), and now tried to assassinate him.
And none of it worked. At this rate, the remaining cases will continue to crumble and and both the judgement and criminal convictions against him will be overturned. Given how legally absurd they are.
He’s even richer than ever. Let’s face it, the democrats are profound failures. For all their efforts, Trump is stronger than ever and Biden is tearing the Democrat party apart.
So much popcorn still to be popped.
For all their efforts, Trump is stronger than ever and Biden is tearing the Democrat party apart.
But only because he is one of those one in 150million type guys that will fight all that rather than knuckle under like and take a “deal”… like probably every single current GOP leader wanna-be.
I like some in the GOP bench but I havent seen the grit to fight and outlast everything they’ve thrown at Trump.
And the message to his successors remains – “This is what you’ll get if you oppose our agenda”.
And that’s why the democrat party and their power centers must be destroyed. No matter what the cost in democrat lives (speaking in terms of careers, fortunes, etc.). The message we should be sending is ‘be a democrat and things will get real fucking bad for you’.
He tricked MAGAs into saying "both sides"!
It’s only “boaf sides” when the Democrats are caught doing something undeniably rotten, and Rethuglikkkans and MAGAtts are “pouncing”.
MAGA has been vilified, especially over the past four years, in a way that few political movements in this country's history have been. What looks like vengeance to you may seem like justice to them.
If MAGA was only Trump and his ideas, it'd be a lot harder to malign. Pinning the alt, new and very online right to him is a boon to the left.
My two best friends are MAGA and I agree with them on 90% of political issues. They're also nothing like the rabid morons I run into online.
Democrats are always the really stupid people. Why one only has to look at our own Sarc, Jeffy, Shrike, Mod, Molly, Guv’na/diet Shrike, Mtrueman, etc. for proof.
Dems are antiwar, bears in trunks, H02, turducken GMO, booming economy, Biden pro energy, pro censorship, masks work, taxes good...
Of course “alt right” now means someone studying the works of Edmund Burke, John Locke and reading warnings of totalitarian dystopias like “1984” and “Brave New Worlld”, which make one wonder about the nature of the politics opposed to and fearing these “alt right” sorts.
The rabid morons you see online are not even REMOTELY MAGA.
The rabid morons are often (perhaps even probably) a CIA/NSA/FBI disinformation campaign, to try to discredit opposition to the leviathan (or stir up a few yahoos and then crack down on everyone with draconian measures - for example, the infamous Charlottesville rally was almost certainly organized by a federal asset).
The Tea Party got really, really bad press for years, to name a recent one. Is that verboten and forgotten, Rat?
Homework for all Reason writers; explain in detail, with citations, why making America great is a bad thing.
“Great” is subjective.
Stalin wanted to make Russia great.
Napoleon wanted to make France great.
Julius Caesar wanted to make Rome great.
If you disagree on what constitutes being great then you could easily see it as a bad thing.
“Great” is subjective.
That’s not “explain in detail”, that’s arguing semantics.
For instance, Pax Romana ensued largely because of Caesar’s consolidation of power, ending the low-level perpetual conflicts that plagued the Republic until his death, as well as his appointment (and luck) of largely benevolent successors.
Which isn’t to say that Trump is Julius or Vance is Augustus. Just that ‘Great is subjective.’ isn’t a detailed answer, even with examples.
Well, since the actual motto includes "again", then some of us can dream of what we saw in US history, like reduced government, and re-elevation of ethics and principles that encouraged liberty, free markets, and self-reliance. Of course, others will dream of slave plantations and 3rd class status for women. But I suspect we are over that.
dont forget a population acquainted with civics ideals and practices
The dream of slave plantations and 3rd class status for women is alive and well in the original party of slavery, they just use different language today. You can see the first bit when any minority voter wanders off the Democrat voter rolls, and for the second the entire Trans movement is vehemently anti-woman.
It's one reason they fling those accusations so readily, they want you on the defensive so you don't notice they are doing all the things they accuse the right of.
Not to say there aren't wack jobs on the right that probably believe largely the same garbage. Nardz (a poster around here) claims to be 'on the right' but wholeheartedly believes the same shit as Progressives up to and including 'watering down' of bloodlines.
Fact is this stuff is mainstream on the left and largely on the fringes of the right. They just give the fringe of the right the biggest megaphone while quietly they agree on just about everything being said just not the precise language used.
"Stalin wanted to make Russia great."
No. He wanted to expand Communism. Stalin was Georgian, not Russian, and actually tried to reduce the Russian SSRs power within the Soviet Union.
"Napoleon wanted to make France great."
No. He wanted to create a unified European Empire somewhat along the lines of today's EU. He was born a Corsican to a family of Italian origin, and had no interest in a solely French state.
"Julius Caesar wanted to make Rome great."
No. He wanted to stop a jealous senate from trying to kill him and persecute his legionnaires. Caesar's power struggle with the Senate was a driving force behind his bid for control, as he sought to diminish their influence and centralize authority under him.
The key to being a prog is an ignorance of history.
All three of your examples were making themselves great: Caesar skirted the law making himself tantamount to a god in the flesh ... and furthermore was a brilliant military strategist. Stalin was a lunatic. Napoleon was a bit of both. In any case, you seem to be picking people who ended up somewhat reviled.
Are you implying that you would have conspired to whack Caesar and the other two, and that you would prefer progressivism to greatness?
You seem to be assuming that what is on the label is necessarily what is in the package.
I think they have already largely explained which policies of Trump's they think are bad (immigration, tariffs, etc.).
the binary choice is Jon Stewart-level stupid. just stop.
Ya, "MAGA" doesn't want anything because it's a diverse group of individuals who all have their own desires.
"The Left", on the other hand, all want full-blown communism.
No, but the left all do incline towards socialism (whatever they think that means) and are happy enough to ally themselves with actual communists.
Well, no, not all of them. Most of them seem willing to make excuses for socialism, though.
The left is decidedly collectivist. They'd call you cis male, white, European heritage, high school educated, suburban, progressive. The right is much more individualistic. The right will call you by your proper name: Jeff Shitforbrains. That is the most important difference and it favors the right, of course.
Seeing as Communism is a child of left wing economic thought, it’s only a matter of degrees.
MAGA is an idea, not an organization.
Don't listen to what Trump says, listen to what he means.
You mean like in the last article about cutting spending where I actually linked to what he said?
The one where you claimed democrats were really the anti war ones? Lol.
Don’t do either. Pay attention to what he (or Biden’s handlers) actually does.
Commit crimes and go to jail?
Mean Tweets! Long TDS may be further complicated in those suffering from alcohol abuse disorder.
Weird, most of the posts I see are people saying “look at Trump’s actual fucking words, and stop projecting your own bullshit into it”.
Poor sarc. Never stop being intellectually compromised.
Cmon man. Sarc proved Trump was reincarnated Hitler by using his words.
If you say "Hitler" three times after midnight or something?
lol
the defense of Trump generally consists of alternating refrains of:
“You can’t focus on what he said, he doesn’t really mean it, you have to focus on his actions”
and
“You can’t focus on his actions, it wasn’t his fault, you have to listen to what he said to understand what he really means”
You have to interpret his words on the basis of his character. He is a misogynistic narcissist. Thus, when he says he had “the greatest economy ever” that means the economy did well.
You have to interpret Biden’s words similarly. He is a crooked, lying piece of shit. When he says he never did business with Hunter it means he made millions of dollars in bribes through Hunter. When he says his uncle was eaten by cannibals it means he is hungry. When he says "blvarg monferting and pilgoriumfinod" it means "I'm suffering from dementia, help me, Jill, don't send me out into the crowd"
One defense of Trump is, look what he did. Because he was president once before and none of the horrors that the left insisted would happen did. Quite a few of those were taken up by Team Biden, things like silencing dissent and jailing opponents.
Jeff and sarc have supported those items in your last sentence.
Don’t listen to what Trump says, listen to what Sarckles says he means.
This is just like the other day when Britschigi lied about what Trump had said about zoning; and despite the fact that the full quote showed that Trump had actually said the opposite, Sarckles and Lying Jeffy ignored it and still took a victory lap.
Could hefty manage to make a full lap around the track?
They always do the same thing with the "dictator from day 1" thing. The actual comments Trump made were the complete opposite of the commonly attributed "dictator from day 1" label.
Don't listen to Democrats, either when they want to send MAGA to re-education camps?
Democrat Paula Collins, who is challenging Stefanik’s House seat in New York’s 21st Congressional District, made the comments during a public Zoom town hall this week.
“Even if we were to have a resounding blue wave come through, as many of us would like, putting it all back together again after we’ve gone through this MAGA nightmare and reeducating basically, which, that sounds like a rather, a reeducation camp,” Collins said, per Fox News. “I don’t think we really want to call it that,” she added, “I’m sure we can find another way to phrase it.”
Giving a Like on a Trump tweet makes you a Biden DOJ target.
Biden DOJ Collects List of Every Person Who Followed, Retweeted or Mentioned Donald Trump on Twitter
Court documents released Monday by the Justice Department show that special counsel Jack Smith successfully obtained access to everyone who liked, retweeted or mentioned Donald Trump on Twitter, now known as X.
The search warrant, issued in January by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, is part of Smith's investigation into Trump's actions leading up to the Capitol incursion of Jan. 6, 2021.
The release of the documents came as a result of a lawsuit brought by a consortium of media organizations seeking to bring sunlight to the special counsel's probe into Trump, the New York Post reported.
Several of the documents the DOJ released are heavily redacted, including 8 of the 14 pages of the search warrant, which are completely redacted.
However, one of the pages indicated that Smith demanded “All information from the ‘Connect’ or ‘Notifications’ tab for [Trump's] account, including all lists of Twitter users who have favorited or retweeted tweets posted by the account, as well as all tweets that include the username associated with the account (i.e. “mentions” or “replies”).”
The DOJ also sought all users that Trump "followed, unfollowed, muted, unmuted, blocked, or unblocked, and all users who have followed, unfollowed, muted, unmuted, blocked, or unblocked" his account.
Last October, Hillary Clinton said, “Maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the [Trump] cult members, but something needs to happen.”
In 2021, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson said, “There are millions of Americans, almost all white, almost all Republicans, who somehow need to be reprogrammed.”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez wants to make a list of Trump supporters to hold them "responsible"
AOC tweet: Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future
AOC tweet: Lol at the “party of personal responsibility” being upset at the idea of being responsible for their behavior over last four years
"We don't need to tell you how troubling this kind of language is. Given the tendency of socialist dictatorships to track and eliminate opposition, Ocasio-Cortez's comments shouldn't ever be uttered in the United States of America.
But this is exactly what we can expect from big-government socialists. Socialism cannot tolerate a diversity of opinion. It requires everyone to support the centralized government, and it will do whatever it takes to quell opposition.
Politics is still not a noble pursuit.
No matter who asks, the answer is the same.
What's most interesting about this framing is that the real goal is not even listed as an option because Zach prefers to demagogue Republicans with the claim they want "Vengeance".
In Zach's framing since unity is impossible *(because the left would have to agree which they will never do) we must conclude they want vengeance. But why does he pretend the only other option is vengeance? Is stopping someone from attacking you vengeance?
If someone attacks you with a bat and you take it away from them is that vengeance? There are plenty of other options but by framing the issue this way Zach is supporting the far left's demagogic vision that anyone who isn't supporting the far left is attacking it by denying them their rightful dominance.
Bats?
What about pangolins and rabid raccoon dogs?
I think there is an element of "Take the bat away and break one of their kneecaps with it, so they think again about picking it up in the future" going on. Tit for tat is a pretty well proven strategy; When wronged respond in kind, and then stop.
There's a serious concern here that the left won't learn anything without suffering some payback in kind.
I hope they nuke the Democrats from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Just convince the Jews to use their space lasers. Much less collateral damage.
It doesn't matter that there's an element of it. What matters is that Zach precludes all other possibilities so he can malign those he hates.
Further I don't think it's accurate to describe gamesmanship as vengeance, so what you're describing still isn't his characterization.
Case in point, all the people saying "Whycome Biden is no masking?" now, like they were right there beside us 3 yrs. ago, masking has always been dumb, the vaccines have never worked, and we've always been at war with Eastasia.
That's payback. I think we should look for accountability. There are plenty of real crimes to pursue without making them up.
Well, when increasing spending by 3.9% instead of 4% is called draconian spending cuts that will literally kill millions of citizens, then yeah, taking away the bat they've been beating you with will likely be called violence, vengeance, racism, hatred...
Why the fuck does anyone care what Steve Bannon thinks? Oh, right, you want to continue to force it to appear like Trump is associated with "bad people" that you don't like. Nick Fuentes storms off in a huff because the RNC is too diverse? FUCKING GOOD! That's a fucking good thing. He's a piece of shit. And so are you for continuing to pretend that Trump is his best friend or some shit.
Lefterteen Magazine.
If Reason were honest they would have to say a large number of positive things about Trump, so Reason will be as dishonest as necessary to prevent that.
Oh, right, you want to continue to force it to appear like Trump is associated with “bad people” that you don’t like.
No force required.

Hey Fatfuck, that was all deconstructed a long time ago. Trump isn’t racist or anti semitic.
You are. Along with your fellow travelers.
Recall FDR sitting down with Stalin? Biden with Putin? Mao with Nixon? Castro with Carter? It means nothing. And if Bannon is an advisor, so what.
Hell, Biden was mentored by a former member of the fucking Klan, is son is a drug addict, influence peddler, he hired a clothing thief into his administration, and do I even need to bring up Harris?
"Menendez charges cost Biden key foreign policy ally"
The charges against Democratic Senator Bob Menendez will cost President Joe Biden one of his most effective allies in Congress as he rallies support for aid to Ukraine and works to reclaim U.S. leadership on global issues from climate change to China.
Menendez single-handedly blocked a bipartisan effort to strengthen the law regulating foreign influence in Washington
The New Jersey senator, charged last week with accepting bribes, halted a 2020 proposal fueled by widespread concerns that foreign influence campaigns had infiltrated American politics.
I notice you don’t meaningfully define revenge. It’s kind of important, don’t you think? As a MAGA-leaning guy who’s long favored libertarianism, it certainly matters to me.
If revenge means taking over the apparatus of weaponized administrative state and employing it against the left, I’m against it. I think it’s a stupid idea because the administrative state itself incentivizes the interests of the managerial technocracy and I don’t particularly care to see more people “grow and evolve” in office to use the power of the state against me and my interests.
On the other hand, if revenge means smashing the administrative state into a fine dust, setting the dust on fire and scattering the ashes to the four winds, and salting the earth where it stood so that nothing ever grows there again, count me on board. I don’t see how you can call yourself a libertarian and not be. Even if that means your friends in the managerial technocracy no longer have the bureaucracy to coordinate society.
What I’m not on board with is leaving the apparatus that has been weaponized against my values and interests in place under the rule of the same people who weaponized it. Hoping that goodwill and reason guide them to see the light of how terrible their choices were is simply asking to get screwed over. The tenor of the article leaves me thinking that that’s your idea of “peace and harmony”.
Nicely put.
Yeah well put. I would point out however that democrat administrations under Obama and Biden and yes even the deep state under Trump committed actual federal crimes in their attempts to neutralize Trump. And the Biden crime family has engaged in documented crimes for decades that Democrat AGs not only failed to prosecute but also actively covered up. If an honest and unbiased DOJ prosecuted these crimes would it be vengeance or justice?
I would also note that "revenge" in this situation mean simply arresting people who abused their authority for political gain and charging them for such crimes.
Perhaps it would also encompass actually enforcing anti-corruption measures equally against both sides instead of letting the preferred party go while prosecuting the opposing party for the exact same crime.
ABSOULUTELY THIS^
Well stated.
No mention that Bannon can't be there because he is in jail? Put there by Biden's DOJ for contempt of congress. The same crime the Attorney General is not going to get charged with.
Yeah, I have no idea why the right might want to get vengeance. /sarc
If you can’t get justice the fallback is vengeance. Let democrats reap the whirlwind.
"Does MAGA Want Unity and Peace—or Vengeance?"
Right now, all three sound great.
The Democrats chose vengeance over peace and unity these past four years, so turnabout is fair play.
Reacting to being figuratively shit on for 8 years is bad form. Why come Republicans can’t go back to being like they were in 2008?
Unity with democrats means caving in to their entire agenda.
Yep. Turnabout isn't necessarily ethical, but it is fair play.
The fact that the thinking is confined to “Unity or Vengeance”, in alignment with the party that as recently as 2024 was calling for reparations from people and States that didn’t exist at the time the crimes needing remunerated were perpetuated, is not a good look for anyone trying to portray themselves as posing serious questions to MAGA conservatives… or really anyone.
Hey Reason,
Is Team MAGA allowed a little vengeance on Fauci or do they have to get permission from your feckless, do nothing, take-it-up-the-ass-and-like-it faction of the Loser Party first? Can you even make that decision yourself or do you have to wait for whomever is handling the Koch you're sucking to tell him if that's OK first?
FYVM,
mad.casual
'Does MAGA Want Unity and Peace—or Vengeance?'
Why not both?
Do you really think the dedicated progressive left will ever allow unity and peace? I suspect that harsh measures will be required, perhaps exile. More moderate people will then be easier to work with.
What's funny is why would vengeance matter unless you feel guilty for something worthy of?
“Does the woke left want unity and peace - or vengeance?”
The most important thing is to be sure that nobody, under any circumstance ask THAT question. Because their vengeance involves a lot more than retribution against deep state and bureaucratic political forces.
But hey, maybe they’ll just stop at reparations and equity. Haha.
Why not both?
Wheel in the “Third World Country in a Wheelchair” to express the foibles of misusing government power to waste it on political rivals obsessions : motorized_wheelchair: :manual_wheelchair: :wheelchair:
So, what vengeance did we see from Republicans when someone tried to assassinate their presidential candidate?
Imagine what the Democrats would have done, based on the BLM riots, deaths, and property damage.
You underestimate us. We want unity, peace, AND vengeance.
For Heaven's sake, just stop.
MAGA simply means "Make America Great Again." It means nothing more than it says. It's a slogan, nothing more. It's not a group or a political party. People that y'all seem to think are "MAGA-nuts" or whatever are simply believers in making their country great once more.
What I want to know is: why are there people out there who don't want their country to be great? What's wrong with taking pride in the land of your birth? You'll find similar sentiments in every other country on Earth. Why do you think Americans can't? It's ridiculous.
Great "again". At what time was it great, and what was so great then that we don't have now? I never hear answers to that.
Well, it was certainly better before O-care, and the wars Obo started and then better after Trump took the US out of the Paris virtue-signaling BS, insisted the EUROs pay for their own defense, and made some wonderful appointments.
And then it was better before leakin' Joe's Afghan fuck up and before he decided to explode the national debt paying for wars which are of no consequence to the US.
But TDS-addled shits like you really don't deal with facts well, do you?
NEXT: Zack asks RNC attendees if they've stopped beating their wives!

Vengeance is not in the cards, but by dang JUSTICE IS!! THESE LEFTY SCUM-SUCKING TRASH TOLD LIE AFTER LIE, FULLY WEAPONIZED THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE ENTIRE LEGAL SYSTEM AGAINST A POLITICAL ENEMY, AND PROBABLY PUT THE HIT OUT ON TRUMP THAT LED TO THE RECENT ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION!! THEY KNOW ACCOUNTABILITY IS COMING AND THEY ARE TERRIFIED BECAUSE THEY KNOW DANG-WELL THEY ARE FULLY GUILTY!! SO WE DON'T NEED BOGUS LAWFARE TO GET EVEN!! ALL WE NEED TO DO IS PROSECUTE ACTUAL CRIMES AND PUSH THEM TO THE MAX!!!!
So will the same question be asked of the Democrats? Will they be asked if they retain power will they continue seeking vengeance against Republicans or will they seek unity? I suspect that they will continue seeking vengeance and tossing their political opponents in prison. My only real question is when the Democrats set up actual gulags.
Reason to victims of drug war
“Hey, you said something about taking vengeance before. Should I be concerned about his rhetoric? Huh? Huh?”
Sigh. The apostles of equity will tear apart Chicago in August. If no one dies, it would be a minor miracle. Pay close attention to the rhetoric they use. I want Reason to interview them just as they did to the Hamas Youth chanting for the genocide of Jews. Oh wait, they didn’t do that. Huh.
Remember Obama saying there are consequences? Since before the 2016 election the left was out to get Trump by whatever means necessary. Trump's made a fatal error when he decided to not go after the Wicked Witch of the East. What goes around …
Many commenters here seem to meet an emotional reaction re what D's did with an equal and opposite emotional reaction re what R's should do.
Where is the 'libertarian' response? Meaning - if D's politicized and used specific weapons of govt against their opponents (or really anyone); then why isn't the response to take those weapons OUT OF the realm of being able to politicize them?
Tit for tat is not even remotely either liberty seeking or classical liberal though apparently it is libertarian
One commenter here (that'd be you, asshole) spends entirely too much effort proving himself both imbecilic and needlessly verbose.
Except the fact is that they aren't using any special powers.
New York used standard laws to prosecute Trump. There's nothing to remove that wouldn't remove all ability to prosecute criminals at all. And these prosecutions are already arguably illegal to begin with, which is why so many people are chanting to prosecute them.
I never get tired of left-wing narrative outlets bringing up Project 2025. Whatever that is.
It's like your only avenue now. Fearmonger some thinktank piece that the campaign hasn't even read, let alone endorsed.
Looks like the headline got updated.
I'm not MAGA, although I do believe Orangeman has been the least terrible choice in a terrible field of finalists for 2 presidential elections in a row. He's still terrible, just moderately less terrible than anything else we can have. Everything else, Chase included, is globalist totalitarianism, one way or another.
So, yeah, you're damned right I'd like to dish out a heaping helping of vicious, unrestrained revenge against the maskers, the mandaters, the censors, every last bastard who propped up this corrupt regime, and the warmongers. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone.
Nuremberg 2 or bust. Whatever it takes.
