Remy: Rich Men North of Richmond (Federal Employee Version)
It's a hard time for us, too.
HD DownloadLife in D.C. isn't all sunshine and Fudge Rounds.
Parody of Oliver Anthony's "Rich Men North of Richmond" written and performed by Remy
LYRICS:
I've been working till the break of 4:45
I get an automatic raise and I can't be fired
Must wait to age 57 till I can retire
With an inflation-adjusted pension that somehow keeps going higher
Oh, it's a damn shame what the world's come to
They want us back in the office on Mondays too
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh it is
Not living in the real world is a lot harder than you would know
Sure I got dental, but it's bad, I go mental 'cuz I had to fill out both of these forms
I also see price hikes on necessities
I had to purchase my rental in Ocean City
Please don't tell anyone, it's so embarrassing
The plight of rich men north of Richmond
I just sit here a-wasting my whole life away
'Cuz this verification code is taking all day
How do you expect me to check my 401(k)?
Plus, my Fudge Rounds supplier no longer takes Apple Pay
Oh, it's a damn shame what the world's come to
It takes one person to do my job, so we have two
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh it is
Not living in the real world is a lot harder than you would know
Sure I got health care, but I get an in-depth scare, only weeks left to open enroll
The new guy plays with his pen, he just sits there and snaps
How am I to get in all my 2 p.m. naps?
They want us back now on Tuesdays, I just might collapse
The plight of rich men north of Richmond
We're just like you

This one really was excellent.
So good.
I'm making $90 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning 16,000 US dollars a month by working on the connection, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply. Everybody must try this job now by just using this website... http://www.Payathome7.com
Are you a federal employee?
At that pay rate? R U kidding? No gov apparatchik would stoop so low.
The Best opportunities To Earn $62,000/Month. We all spend a lot of time on social media every day – Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and the list goes on. If you’re used to getting a lot of likes or comments, or if you’re great at motivating others through your posts, you might want to consider turning this into a profession. It appears unbelievable but you won't forgive yourself if you do not check it...

The stunned shock of having to have cameras on for a Zoom meeting was funny enough without the tear.
The plight of the downtrodden.
Or is that down-trodding?
Excellent derivative work. No need to contextualize it for blue bubble types. No need to own it. Just a perfect mirror image. Good job.
Even shorter version:
WORKERS UNITE!
was Shoplifters of the World Unite and Take Over meant to be an anthem?
It is in Los Angeles.
This hasn't worked the 3 dozen times you've tried it. Tell Act Blue bosses to do better.
If they could do better they wouldn't work for Act Blue.
Oh, it's a damn shame what the world's come to
AI can do all the jobs 30 million illegals do
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh it is
illegals do stuff that computers can't...yet. roofing, cleaning hotel rooms, cooking burgers, cutting grass and shrubs, painting, framing houses, janitorial...
AI will do the stuff of low grade lawyers, entry level coders, proof readers, librarians, tech support, travel agents, receptionists, loan officers, realtors, insurance adjusters.
Nice. Keep up the good work, Remy.
I had a chance to go to work for the federal government fresh out of college and I turned it down on principle. Want to know what my principles are worth today? I got two brothers retired from working for the government, one retired from the military and he has to have a second job to make ends meet, the other retired from public works and he makes more money now than when he was working. Fuck, was I young and dumb back then.
"Billy Bragg - Rich Men Earning North of a Million" <- possibly the worst piece of shit drivel I've heard in a long time. Do yourself a favor and refuse to listen to it.
“This half-assed Woody Guthrie even makes me sound sincere” – Michael Moore
Too soon, man. Too soon.
🙂
One of Remy’s better efforts lately. The original was a bit strained and hard to follow, but then I’m not a fan of what country music has become – like the spoof, not at all strained! I have nothing against public sector employees; just think there should be about 90% fewer of them and eliminate their unions.
Oliver Anthony's song is literally old style country....
To be fair, this Remy spoof was much less strained than the "You better (not) not try that in a not small town" spoof.
My brother and his wife and pulling down a combined $15k per month from their state pensions. And he still pinch pennies like a madman.
Retired federal employee. Forced out at 56. Now I work for a contractor. Defined benefit pension is certainly nice but do you really want the folks keeping the plane you're on from turning into aluminum confetti to be sourced through the lowest bidder?
I know they are working on remote ATC. Before long, your controller will be talking to your pilot with an Indian accent. Soon after, you won't have either a pilot or a controller, just an AI. The thing about AI's - they don't deal with paradox as well as humans & they, (like us) are limited by their sensory inputs. However, humans can manage to fill in the spaces better than an AI. Do you think the AI flying your plane will have the same motivation for self preservation as a human pilot? Do you think an AI could pull off what Sullenberger did?
Now that I've gotten that off of my chest; there are a lot of people in middle management in the government bureaucracy who could "retire" & not be missed but that's the case with any large bureaucracy. Do you really think that a private monopoly would be superior to a monopoly that is purportedly answerable to your congressional representative? That rep (if they aren't an idiot) can function as an ombudsman that you wouldn't get in a private monopoly.
My criteria for gov't vs private is fairly simple. If it fundamentally monopolistic and/or it provides a service that cannot be allowed to fail, then it should be gov't run or at least with heavy gov't oversight. If it can fail w/o causing major damage to society or the economy, then leave it to the private sector.
All that being said, we love our scape goats & gov't employees are an easy target. Just remember, IF you are lucky, you might get what you paid for. You rarely get more.
OK Rich Man, I'll bite. Given that this is a libertarian site, be prepared to clutch at your pearls. Below is a list of federal government departments and agencies. I've placed a star * next to the ones should be kept. No star? Not a federal function. I count 4 stars. And this list is just the ones starting with "A"
Feel free to make an argument to keep any of the others.

Nicely done! Only got part way through the A’s and the waste is rampant!
Government is a self locking ice cream cone.
Private businesses that fail go out of business. Government departments that fail get more money. Where is there any ‘creative destruction’, the cycle of life, in gov?
Worse, Washington DC recently became the richest city in America.
Fuck y’all.
My com-laborer’s sister-in-law makes USD/83 every Hour on the web . She has been useless since she got hired on. she works for the federal govt for over two hours every eight hour day!
Great stuff from Remy!
Reminds me of the Benny Hill joke about the British worker who had an accident...He fell off of his shovel!...And then compensation set in!
🙂
😉
I’m sorry but this is inane. State employee here, not federal, and I am salaried and work probably 60-70 hours in an average week (without overtime pay because I am salaried). My experience is that my coworkers also work quite hard, and I often see them in the office on weekends. Not complaining—I am fairly compensated and love my job. I have worked for federal government as well and worked similarly hard.
I earn $5000 per hour while taking risks and travelling to remote parts of the world. I worked remotely last week while in Rome, Monte Carlo, and eventually Paris. I’m back in the USA this week. I only perform simple activities from this one excellent website. see it,
