Why Voluntary Compliance Is Key To Fighting COVID-19: Dr. Jeremy S. Faust
An emergency room doctor talks about working the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
HD DownloadWhat's it like serving on the front lines of the response to the coronavirus pandemic? And what have the federal, state, and local responses to COVID-19 gotten right and wrong so far?
To answer those and other questions, Reason turned to Dr. Jeremy S. Faust of Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he trains emergency room doctors and is pulling daily shifts treating patients who have COVID-19.
Faust stresses that attempts to reopen businesses, schools, and other parts of everyday life will need to based on local conditions and that effective containment has to rely on the voluntary participation of people who are given reliable information rather than bullied by political and medical authorities. "It's not a weather system that we can track beginning, middle, and end," says Faust. "We make the weather. If people believe in what their participation is, it's a hell of a lot easier to achieve [containment] than through some sort of draconian enforcement."
Faust also co-hosts the FOAM Podcast about ER and coronavirus issues, and writes for Brief19, a daily review of COVID-19 research and policy.

"We should voluntarily do exactly what the totalitarians want, so that they don't demand and force us to do it"
So much liberty
Really! What is it you want? You don't want government controls and you don't want to comply to voluntary suggestion. You want what you want and you want it now. Same as my kids did when they were four.
The world is bigger than you. This doctor goes into an ER knowing that he may be working with patients with an extremely contagious viral infection. Will you make life easier? No.
Shut the fuck up you totalitarian piece of shit.
You've destroyed the lives of tens of millions of people and fundamentally altered the character of the nation.
What do I want?
I want your fucking head on a pike
Amen.
Yeah, he did that. Not millions of people making the decision to stay away from other people because they don't want to get sick.
It is amazing watching the authoritarian impulses of self proclaimed libertarians come out. People didnt volunteer to lose their jobs dipshit. A small minority likely did, but many did not. Just because you're a frightened piece of shit doesnt mean everyone is.
Most of the "libertarians" around here are downscale authoritarians (immigration, tariffs, abortion, gay marriage, etc.) who lack the character or self-awareness to acknowledge they're slack-jawed, anti-social Republicans and right-wing bigots.
Says the trailer hick who prides himself on smoking American Spirits and having one black friend on hand as proof of his progressive bona fides. Ever since you got gay married you can't contain your excitement anymore, can you?
Immigration? Yeah we need more control of the border.
Tariffs? Whatever. They’ll do what they do and then they’ll be gone. Feel free to pearl clutch.
Abortion and gay marriage? No one gives a fuck.
Sounds so extreme. Haha.
What a doosh.
Jesse, neither do people put out of work by a hurricane or an earthquake volunteer.
Most of the time, bravado just makes someone ridiculous. In a pandemic, bravado becomes a public menace—or, if you don't act on it, just more ridiculous.
The fact that you compared a government mandated shut down to a natural disaster...
Governments impose curfews with respect to hurricanes, tornadoes, and the like, too. Because relatively few people are ‘no one is going to tell me what do so, so I disregard stop signs’ cranks.
Oh that's just perfect, because the best place to be during a tornado is locked in your fucking house.
You might like this article, Jesse, but the threat has to be credible to cause requisite fear
http://mises.org/power-market/new-covid-19-authoritarians-will-only-give-power-if-they-fear-blowback
And to eunuch: silence yourself. You know this has never been about voluntary measures, but about the wilful destruction of millions of lives by men using the cudgel of law and cheered on by inveterate self-loathing scumbags like you, drunk on the enjoyment of vicarious power.
From the link
"The present-day American state's response, in ways, goes beyond the communism of even the USSR. The Soviets actually wanted their economy to work."
I've compared the destruction of the US economy to the Holodomor. But it's actually worse.
Are you too dumb to realize that people lost their server jobs because people stopped going to restaurants of their own choosing, that people lost their usher jobs, because venues canceled events of their own choosing, that event planners lost business because people canceled events of their own choosing, that cashiers lost their job because private business owners closed their stores because of their own choosing, and so on and so forth. Yes, some people are out of work because of government decrees, but a large percentage are out of work because of the private decisions of millions of people.
Proof chipper. Show proof. Because I can show article after article of restaraunts being open until the shut down order came.
I can show you concerts within the last week of the mandated shut downs.
You are either the most ignorant person on the planet or you are intentionally gaslighting people. You keep repeating that this was an individual choice over and over without even an ounce of scrutiny. Please, show the numbers of businesses shutting down prior to government mandates. Maybe in NYC, but definitely not in 90% of America.
You're just fucking dumb.
(At least) 3 restaurants in my town, that had been open, shut down last week.
Others are barely scraping by
Same here, Nardz. I live in a small town in the People's Republic of NJ. We have (had) eight restaurants. Six now do take-out, and one just shut down for deep-cleaning (employee tested positive for KungFlu). I anticipate half going out of business, maybe more, as we won't be 'opening up' for months.
And here's an article about people like you, eunuch
http://www.zerohedge.com/health/whats-next-train-dachau-snitching-social-distance-deniers-sparks-outrage-across-america
Yes people voluntarily practiced "social distancing" but only because they bought into the bullshit being spread by Top Men and the social media that this virus was comparable to the bubonic plague. 99% of the population was never in danger of dying from this virus and if infected would have developed antibodies after few days of mild discomfort.
Construction workers, machinists, dentists, dog trainers, hair stylists, salespeople, etc.
They didn’t choose to not work.
And what if your ignorance kills someone? Should you be liable? (BTW, the answer to that question is that you ARE liable, but it would be damned hard to trace the source of the virus. But not impossible.)
I'm staying isolated because I may die if I get this. Because you likely won't die, you'll have to tell me what right you have to spread it.
If you are staying isolated, it doesn't matter what I do. You cannot catch it from me. See how this works?
Pretty sure Moderation4ever is just a guy posting comments, not the President, a governor, or a congressperson. So, how did he destroy the lives of tens of millions of people?
There's that deep concern for people now.

No! Fucking authoritarian, trying to tell me what to do!
Fuck off slaver.
Muttering bitterly and inconsequentially is the natural station of anti-social, on-the-spectrum, right-wing misfits.
If you push a little more, you'll be able to touch your toes. Practicing twice a day is all it takes and then you'll enjoy getting fucked in the ass without constantly pulling a hammy.
Then why do you do it?
It's not "extremely contagious," you retard. It's spread by droplets, not aerosolized particles. Transmission requires contact with respiratory droplets close, prolonged personal contact with an infected person, and touching an infected area and then bringing your unwashed hands into contact with your mouth, nose, or eyes. Exactly like the common cold and the seasonal flu and a lot of other viruses. The world is bigger than your fright over the big scary germs, and other people's freedoms aren't contingent on whether you crap your pants over something or not.
"70% infection rate, 221 million American will be infected, and 300,000 will die" - Ronald Bailey
Don't tempt the gods.
Ronald Bailey clearly gave that as an example of how to do a calculation to come up with a number, not as some gospel declaration on his part. You are either intentionally misquoting him to support some agenda on your part or, Ron Bailey is correct and you have poor reading comprehension.
You could really benefit from calming the fuck down.
An example of numbers, like a 70% infection rate, that he pulled out of his ass.
Examples. Everyone is just giving examples, and the rest of us have to sit there and nod, locked in our homes, because people are just giving "examples" and making shit up.
There is only one agenda, and it is a common one pursued by all rational people: Don't be fooled by idiots that try to sell you the end of the world.
You're fucking pathetic.
He never claimed otherwise. Ron hasn't done anything to you.
In fact, nobody has literally locked you in your home, so shut your browser and go for a bike ride or something. Chill out.
Admitting, after defending for days, that Ron made shit up.
Takes balls, tiny though they may be.
It's what I have consistently said, all along. Liar!
(Footnote: This is another Trump mean girls tactic that I am mirroring. Honestly, I don't remember everything I've said, so I'm calling Geraje a liar. JesseAz uses this technique a lot.)
You are definitely a girl.
No way 43 out of 60 choir members catch it during 1 rehearsal if it's not spread easily through the air.
Be honest. Then be free.
Doesn't he do that every year with the flu?
Nope. Dr. Faust no doubt gets a flu shot every year, and most years it prevents him from getting sick. And, if he does get the flu, it makes him throw up for a few days rather than attacking his lungs.
But, for whatever reason, you Trumpers really, really need to latch onto the simplistic "it's just like the flu". Sorta like you had to latch onto "read the transcripts."
PANIC!
Fucking faggots like you can stay in your homes and cream your pants all day long, crying about Trump.
The rest of us will live our lives.
Dude, first you say you are locked in your home, now you say you aren't like "faggots" like me who can stay in my home.
Please, close your browser window, go out your front door, and go for a walk or something. Or have a beer and watch some Netflix or something. You need to chill out.
You suck at trolling.
I'm doing well enough to bug you, and that's gotta be good enough for me for now.
Happy Sunday! Maybe you could get out for a walk or something. Take care of yourself, Garage.
Is it good enough? You don't seem the type to be satisfied with abject mediocrity. Maybe there is a big lesson in all of this.
Over the last decade the US has averaged 37,000 flu deaths every year. 50% of COVID cases are asymptomatic. The death rate is probably going to be around .2%. Unless he's old or infirm he should be ok.
Jesse and Geraje want a prize for being more liberty-woke than the rest of us.
The really odd thing is in their libertarian calculus Trump scores highly as a champion of liberty. Because blue party bad, so red party good.
And you want a prize for being an authoritarian twat. That prize is a bullet between the eyes, and the people pulling that trigger are going to be some power hungry cunts you carry water for day after day.
You've never actually asked me what I think about stay-at-home orders, or sheltering in place, or $2 trillion dollar packages. You are so damned busy declaring your opinions and condemning everyone else for not being as liberty-woke as you, that you don't even know how to engage in conversation.
Because I don't care. Nobody does. You've never posted anything of substance, and you're not going to magically change. What you're doing now is literally all of you've ever done on this site.
Fuck off.
On the other hand, you think that throwing online temper tantrums counts as your posting things of substance. Get over yourself, Garage.
So, what's your favorite color? Rainbow, doesn't count.
“We should voluntarily do exactly what the totalitarians want, so that they don’t demand and force us to do it”
Absolutely not. We should rebel like wise teenagers do when those with more knowledge and experience try to tell them what to do.
An appeal to authority in order to gain compliance. Yeap, you're not actually an authoritarian at all. Lol.
So let me get this straight. Anyone who disagrees with you on what should be done and tries to convince you to see things their way is an authoritarian?
With that attitude you can't have a constructive conversation with anyone.
Anybody whose idea of "what should be done" involves some variation of "do what I say so we don't have to make you" is an authoritarian.
It is difficult to have conversations with people utterly convinced that their beliefs, however justified, give them any right to demand that others act accordingly.
Anybody whose idea of “what should be done” involves some variation of “do what I say so we don’t have to make you” is an authoritarian.
Where did sarcasmic or Dr. Faust argue that you should be made to do what he wants?
It is difficult to have conversations with people utterly convinced that their beliefs, however justified, give them any right to demand that others act accordingly.
Where did sarcasmic or Dr. Faust demand that you do what he wants?
Remember you have to quote something they said. Not something you wanted them to have said.
sarcasmic

“We should voluntarily do exactly what the totalitarians want, so that they don’t demand and force us to do it”
Absolutely not. We should rebel like wise teenagers do when those with more knowledge and experience try to tell them what to do.
It's pretty obvious what he was getting at. Jesse called him out for his appeal to authority.
"With that attitude you can’t have a constructive conversation with anyone."
So far I have yet to see him have a conversation that didn't involve belittling, strawmanning, and otherwise being a complete dick.
I have them all the time. Just not with people who accuse me of wanting to murder people.
See discussions with john, Ken, and others.
They actually discuss the points I'm making instead of morality attacks like you commit.
You've literally labeled everyone who disagrees with you a trump dick sucker. So fuck off.
Wow. I would have though you would have gotten over my mistakenly attributing a comment from Nardz to you, admitting to my mistake, and apologizing like a man. Instead you harp on it daily like a little bitch.
He is your mirror.
?
LMAO!!
No, I'm your mirror, dumbshit. I'm the one using that stupid schtick, not sarcasmic. sarcasmic is a different person than me. chemjeff is a different person than me. It's really not that hard.
I'm still waiting for you to orchestrate a whole comment thread between your various socks. But all that logging in and logging out must be too time consuming between furiously masturbating and yelling in your basement at pictures of Trump.
Faggot.
And there's that homophobia.
I could accuse you of homophilia, but that would be redundant.
JesseAz and the rest of the Trump buttplugs pretty much accuse anyone that doesn't agree with them of being a lefty. He's basically accusing someone of doing the exact thing he does while commenting on here! In regards to the article, the closing of businesses during the Covid-19 hysteria (Fu Manch-Flu for the layperson) has been voluntary. Just because big gov tells you to do something, regardless of what the penalties or outcome might be, doesn't mean you have to comply.
//Just because big gov tells you to do something, regardless of what the penalties or outcome might be, doesn’t mean you have to comply.//
Of course you don't have to comply. Gun to your head, "give me your wallet," you can opt to keep your wallet in your pocket and tell the guy threatening to blow your brains out to fuck off.
You can do all that.
Government coercion is nice.
So what is your point O Great Compliant Guzba? It's still an individual choice whether I'm the one holding the wallet or the gun yo your head!
My point is you're an idiot. Thanks for playing.
The only way to interact with Jesse, if you must, is to ridicule his willful ignorance, proud stupidity, and bitter impotent range. But even then you feel a little dirty, like making fun of a donkey getting his head stuck in a fence.
Everybody knows what you would do to a donkey with its head in a fence …
Chipper fucks it in the ass? Is that what you're hinting at. That's so funny, Geraje. You really scored a point there.
You didn't have to illustrate it for us, but … shit, whatever helps you blow a load is your business.
It was your distasteful joke.
That you amplified, visually, for obvious reasons.
Yeah, I know the feeling. It's so easy to poke Jesse's buttons.
You want to poke more than just his buttons.
Is that an implication that I am homosexual? Is this middle school in 1975? Are you also a homophone besides being a Trump-loving fascist.
This week, on state the obvious ...
You spend your day trolling, and still suck at it.
All learned at the knee of John, Tulpa, JesseAz, Geraje, Nardz.
I like John. He doesn’t hold grudges.
John is the best of the lot of them. And a long-time Reason member of the Reason commentariat.
John fellator.
No, it was his appeal to authority to grant compliance that made me call him an authoritarian. It was literally in the post you replied to.
He could have said look at the data. He didnt. He said follow orders from your authorities.
You’ve got one heck of an imagination if you get all of that out of a simple statement meant only to mock you.
You only mock yourself
I do that a lot. You should try it. It beats being serious and uptight all the time.
I’ve known humorless people before. I was always torn between feeling sorry for them and wanting to kill them.
If you kill yourself, you won't have those feelings anymore.
Bingo! Not being able to have a constructive conversation with anyone is JesseAz and Geraje in a nutshell.
The only constructive conversation you've ever had is with your therapist.
Speaking of therapists, you could really stand to talk to one.
The rapist.
That was incoherent. Late night drinking?
You missed the joke.
You got me. I'm an anarchist authoritarian.
Thanks. Bookmarked.
You must really have trouble communicating with people when you believe comments that are obviously not meant to be taken seriously. That or you’re a dishonest prick. Im gonna go with door number two.
Don't worry.
Nobody takes any of your comments seriously.
It's been well settled that Jesse doesn't understand the concept of sarcasm.
Betcha Jesse and Geraje are actually quite meek in person, when not hiding behind the Internet.
And you're the toughest fag in town. Twat.
Actually, you're just a douchebag. You have no independent political inclinations or ideological grounding. Your entire history of posting is a poorly choreographed combination of factual misrepresentations, an astounding ignorance of history, and reflects the musings of a person that desperately wants to say something intelligent in a conversation but cannot come to terms with the fact that he doesn't have the intellectual wherewithal to do so.
Wow dude. Here’s the thing that you guys seem to be unable to grasp. As my name suggests, I am rarely serious. Lighten up Francis.
I am your mirror.
No, let's get this straight. *I* am *your* mirror.
Stop fucking your kids.
You are truly a piece of shit. I sincerely hope you talk to a human being the way you talk on this forum, and then spend a few weeks in the hospital before going to the morgue.
Accusations of incest are crossing the line, buddy.
Actually engaging in incest is worse than accusations of incest. Faggot.
Isn't that kind of hard to pull off?
But if Jesse and Geraje say you're an authoritarian I guess you must be.
You don't have to publish your ramblings with yourself, you pathetic twat.
Pathetic twat. Yup, I'm your mirror.
Do you write your comments out on a sheet of paper and practice saying them first? Because that "mirror" shtick is some real cold and vindictive shit, if you're retarded.
Just out of curiosity, don't you support open borders because freedom of association? Now apply that logic to government mandated or even government strongly suggested lockdowns.
A "strongly suggested" lockdown is still voluntary, just like a cancer treatment from you doctor might be "strongly suggested". Do you want to discourage doctors from making strong suggestions related to medicine?
Doctors may suggest, but supposed "libertarian" commenters advocating that we all bow down to technocrat dictats and applaud government forcibly shutting down small business is abhorrent.
If you're worried about the covid, I have no problem with you taking the prescribed measures.
But I have extreme objections to you trying to constrain everybody else's way of life just because it makes you feel more comfortable.
I don't call myself a libertarian, but that would seem pretty fucking fundamental to the philosophy.
but supposed “libertarian” commenters advocating that we all bow down to technocrat dictats and applaud government forcibly shutting down small business is abhorrent.
Where did I, or sarcasmic or Dr. Faust advocate that?
Remember you need to quote something we said. Not what you want us to have said.
Where did he say you said that?
Yeah, where did "some guy" say that?
How about I strongly suggest you shut the fuck up? Seriously. I'm strongly suggesting it. I think you should shut the fuck up. It would make things easier for you, and this is my strong suggestion. Shut the fuck up.
See? My strong suggestion makes me less of an asshole, right?
Nothing could make you less of an asshole.
Finally had the balls to use your original name, huh? Are you done with the "my mirror" shtick, yet, you fucking twat?
He is mad he got caught.
What are you talking about? Despite accusations this is the only account that I use.
You are playing up the denial to the point of absurdity. Nobody really gives a shit how many accounts you use, which makes the fact that you use multiple accounts even more pathetic.
Seriously, what are you talking about? I’ve been busy with my daughter the last couple days and haven’t been on the site.
//I’ve been busy with my daughter//
Do we really want to go there? Leave your children out of this.
You really are a total piece of shit, aren't you.
I think I've had enough of this.
I think he finally decided to off himself. That, or he's furiously googling "How to find anonymous people on the internet" while crying into his cheerios.
You are a worm.
I have been trolling Geraje for the last few days, using an annoying "I'm your mirror" schtick. Geraje is attributing it to you, because that is one of the tactics the Trump mean girls club uses: attributing things one person said to another. It helps them deflect when losing arguments.
Jesse (on the losing side of a debate): "Is that why you said we should outlaw kittens the other day?"
You: "I never said that. When did I say that?"
Jesse: "You said it the other day, when you were posting under the name Jeff."
You: "I just post under the same handle I always use."
Jesse: "Liar!"
I'm honored. Can you create a parody account with some weird version of my name? I'm still trying my best to get on Hihn's list of assholes that made fun of him on the internet.
Thanks for the clarification.
It’s not your fault that the usual suspects must believe that the libertarians who say libertarian stuff are all the same person.
Heck. JesseAZ, Nardz and Geraje are all the same person by their argument.
Could so many people be that obtuse? No. Must be the same person.
I'll put it on my things to do list.
You outed yourself, sarcasmic, just above. You forgot to log into your "Imafuckingidiot1789" account and started talking shit, despite the fact I've never said a word to you.
Trolling is supposed to at least be fun, but you have turned it into a pathology.
The mirror schtick is mine. sarcasmic is a different person from me. The absolute stupidest argument that is made in debates here in the commentariat is the "you are really X" one.
"Debate"
LOL.
What a twat.
When you offer anything worthy of debate, you might get it, you pathetic piece of lefty shit.
I used to try. By the way, one of the tactics you and Geraje always use that made me give up on trying to have intelligent conversation is your constant use of exclusion of the middle, accusing anyone who isn't kissing Trump's ass of being a lefty.
Oh, yeah? You used to try? What was your good guy username before you were driven to the precipice of a mental breakdown and emerged as a bad guy poster, seeking to avenge himself?
Bruce Wayne, of course.
"I used to try. By the way, one of the tactics you and Geraje always use that made me give up on trying to have intelligent conversation is your constant use of exclusion of the middle, accusing anyone who isn’t kissing Trump’s ass of being a lefty."
Getting called on your bullshit and your TDS is not 'exclusion of the middle'
It's getting called on your bullshit and your TDS.
No a strongly suggested by the guys with guns is not entirely voluntary. It is akin to the protection racket thugs showing up and commenting about how it behooves you to pay their "insurance" because something bad might happen.
I completely disagree. When the government "strongly suggests" something, they are not enforcing it. When thugs "strongly suggest" that you pay them to not destroy your property, they are going to enforce it.
Because governments acting as violent thugs is something that has never happened.
The more reasonable you pretend to try to sound, the dumber you end up sounding.
So you're ignoring the fines, the cops demands, people pulled off buses?
You really do know how to go full ignorant when you want to ignore reality.
They aren’t doing that where I live because it’s only a suggestion.
Because when people are discussing national political issues, they are really only talking about the immediate area in which you reside and, clearly, if it isn't happening there, it's not a problem anywhere.
Because when it is enforced it ceases to be a suggestion. Duh.
Non-sequitur.
"I completely disagree. When the government “strongly suggests” something, they are not enforcing it."
SF went from 'strongly suggesting' to 'requiring' masks in about a week, since the 'strong suggestion' didn't get 100% compliance.
You.
Are.
Full.
Of.
Shit.
Same story in NYC with the stupid, useless fucking face masks. Within the scope of a few weeks we went from:
(1) "They're unnecessary and pointless, and give people a false sense of security" to
(2) "Maybe you should consider wearing one, for safety reasons" to
(3) "If you don't fucking wear one everywhere you go, you're going to get fined and/or arrested. Enough is enough."
The furious retards in government don't look kindly upon people ignoring their idiocy so, inevitably, they resort to imposing it upon others at the point of a gun.
I think we're talking about two different things. I'm talking about medical professionals strongly suggesting that certain groups behave in a certain way if they want to limit risk to themselves or others. I'm not talking about Trump or Cuomo saying, shut it down voluntarily, or else.
This whole comment section is just a bunch of people talking past each other and arguing against the voices in their own heads. Actually, that's every Reason comment section these days...
Okay, but do you really not see the connection between authoritarian government assholes and the doctors?
"Do it voluntarily."
"Why?"
"The doctors said so."
"Okay, so?"
"If you're not going to be reasonable and listen to the doctors, we'll have to step in."
This has been playing out in real time over the past month. I don't see how you can miss it. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it seems like you are being deliberately obtuse on this point.
In a free society, people can ignore a doctor's advice. That's what doctors do; they advise people. But statist pricks always invert the entire situation to the point where the doctors no longer exist to inform free people of their risks and apprise them of their choices, but exist solely as "experts" providing the authoritarian justification for whatever garbage authoritarian shit they were going to impose in any event.
Sadly. It's been that way ever since the Trumpistas showed up.
If it wasn't for Trump, you'd have no motivation to even get up and walk the three feet from your air mattress to the keyboard.
Twat.
"Sadly. It’s been that way ever since the Trumpistas showed up."
"Trumpistas"
That's TDS victim slang for 'people'.
Fuck off and die; make the world a better place.
Good point. Anyone who disagrees with or criticizes Obama is a racist. They’ve got Obama Derangement Syndrome. If you don’t like his policies then your are a raging, mindless conservative who listens to talk radio while watching FOX News. You have never had an original thought and only parrot Limbaugh and Hannity.
Oh crap. Wrong president.
Just replace a few words in the above comment to reverse the argument and it’s all good.
Same level of thought.
Astute analysis.
Actually, it was quite astute. It was dead on.
That's why I said it.
Thanks for the added substance.
"Actually, it was quite astute. It was dead on."
Actually, it was a steaming pile of shit; consider yourself called on your bullshit AND your TDS in one comment.
Winner!
Yep
Nope.
In Michigan, and many other states, the shutdowns have not been voluntary. The week before the shutdown I went to taco night at a local joint, and there were less customers than normal, but still about 75% full. The waitresses were very thankful we were there, cuz the rumors of the shutdown were already out there, and they knew they weren’t gonna be allowed to make money anymore pretty soon.
And then the State shut them down.
Michigan is notoriously the worst offender for mandating things. It's not like that everywhere. Genuinely sorry you live in Michigan, and your state government is doing that.
Did you have a point other than shoving the goal posts a ways?
You grow tiresome. Good night.
No, no, no! = Michigan is notoriously the worst offender for mandating things.
The People's Republic of NJ has them beat...by a lot.
I don't support government mandated lockdowns, but there's nothing wrong with strong suggestions.
I really sound naive.
Wonder why it cut off, attempt 2.
"I sound really naive. - sarcasmic"
The ridiculous part is that he keeps trying to disguise his obvious asininity and lack of perspective as some sort of subtle sarcasm that the rest of us are too dumb to understand.
So much struggle, so little reward.
By the way, here is the fucking hilarious part...
You're comments are so substance free I would probably never respond to you if you didnt continually respond to me with idiocy. If you notice 9 times out of 10 you're the first one to try and get an attack in.
But you have no self realization skills, so you dont see it
Oh, wow. No self-realization skills. Pot. Kettle. Black.
Oh, wow! Lefty asshole bullshit.
Or, you know, there might maybe be some path in between those two extremely extreme extremes.
And that path is …. masturbating in your mom's basement? That's entirely voluntary and, most importantly, it keeps you indoors!
Here is more of our government strongly suggesting compliance. This is what chipper and sarcasmic are idiotically defending.
https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020/04/17/coronavirus-san-clemente-skatepark-37-tons-sand-social-distancing/
Without vaccination, Self isolation is better way to protect your body from covid19. Doctors, nurses is doing work hard for resolving this bad condition.
The key, as to all of life's problems, is subservience to your betters. They are never wrong. They would never misread models or create models that run hot. They would consider all data objectively and never have even a hint of cognitive dissonance on their own. They actually have the knowledge they claim they have. All hail the new overlords. Life is fragile. Obey.
What's weird about the summary, no I didnt listen, is Faust was one of the first doctors to question the high CFR and believes it to be much lower based on the Diamond Princess Petri Dish Cruiseline. Odd he is now, based on the summary, asking for compliance to the very people he questioned early on.
Not only that, but the single issue and area of expertise of any authority is clearly the only thing to consider.
In other words, don't ask "Hey, doc, if I follow all your health rules, how can I keep my business open and pay my employees and suppliers?"
That's almost exactly what Fauci said yesterday. Sort of "I just recommend what I think is necessary to save lives; it's up to others to manage where the chips fall."
And IHME lowered projections again, quietly on an early Saturday.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/coronavirus-model-estimates-us-deaths-down
They'll keep lowering the projections until they perfectly match the exact number of reported deaths.
"Our models are so accurate, we can project what happened."
Fucking clowns.
Whining, anti-social, disaffected right-wing malcontents are among my favorite culture war casualties.
If there was ever a war worth having in this country, people fighting a figurative culture war, like you, would be sold into sex slavery almost as a default.
There's not much utility otherwise for faggots in wheelchairs.
Pretty sure he's a quadriplegic, so don't think he's getting too far in a wheelchair
They’ll keep lowering the projections until they perfectly match the exact number of reported deaths.
As more data come in the models are adjusted to the empirically determined facts. Isn't that what you want?
When the facts change, I change my mind - what do you do, sir?
I change my mind, after admitting I and my models were wrong, instead of admitting that my models are so flexible, I was actually right the whole time.
Models with no predictive value are just observations.
Changing estimates is to be expected as more data come in. That’s not the problem. The problem is how the projections were derived when the lockdowns went into effect. And adding to that is the moving of the goal posts. We went into lockdown to save soon-to-be-over-taxed health resources. Now that that problem is behind us, the goal seems to be to save lives at all costs. My county has a population of 3 million, covering only 950 square miles, and has had only 32 deaths from COVID19. Why are we in lockdown?
Because some tin-pot-dictator-wanna-be can do it, supported by the scum like our asshole bigot, Hihn, JFree, sarcasmic and other kneelers.
Permanence is a chain of "temporary" measures.
Now that it is more or less crystal clear that Cuomo's caterwauling about hospitals collapsing under the weight of an uncommon cold and the dead piling up in the streets was nothing more than a typical case of cynical liberal hysteria, the lockdowns are extending, rather than winding down, and deadlines for "responsibly reopening" keep getting pushed off and off.
The goals shifted so dramatically, we're not even playing the same fucking game anymore. We are now intensely committed to preventing all deaths, under all circumstances, at all cost - and, since that is impossible, the lockdowns are going to be permanent.
Here is my favorite statement so far this weekend.
==
“We've long thought that the reported numbers are vastly under-counting what the actual infection is," Ambrosino told the Boston Globe. “Those reported numbers are based on positive COVID-19 tests, and we're all aware that a very, very small percentage of people in Chelsea and everywhere are getting COVID-19 tests."
He added: “Still, it's kind of sobering that 30 percent of a random group of 200 people that are showing no symptoms are, in fact, infected. It's all the more reason for everyone to be practicing physical distancing."
==
Instead of rationally looking at the data and going, oh shit we probably over reacted... they are going the other way and saying we have to lock down even more.
I fully expect Newsom to do the same in CA because of the Santa Clara results. OMG it's already EVERYWHERE we must DOUBLE DOWN.
"The horse has left the barn! *Weld* that door shut! *** barn burns down ***"
Naturally.
It's like that episode of Seinfeld when George drives Susan's parents all the way to the Hamptons to avoid admitting he lied about having a beach side property.
"We go on foot from here …."
And of course... a controlled study shows the virus dies in sunlight and humidity...
So keep everyone inside!!! Close the parks!!!!

JesseAz:
You are one to talk, Jesse. No one here worships their "thought leader" more than you. You have yet to exhibit any signs of independent thought.
Chipper. The fact you wrote this shows hoe gucking dishonest you actually are. I've criticized trump where i dosagree with him. Unlike you who cant give him credit even where you claim to agree.
You're a dumb and dishonest person because you have no intellectual depth. Grow up dumbfuck.
"How fucking"*
I see I hit a nerve.
You didnt hit anything. You're your usual no substance self.
"...They would consider all data objectively and never have even a hint of cognitive dissonance on their own..."
So CA's 'planned' economy is getting a 'plan' to return to what was a relatively free market. Yep, like every other tin-pot-dictatorship, we are going to 'plan' this free market...
It's worse than that in CA; there is a board appointed to 'plan' this new market and on it sits one of the worst, scummiest, examples of crony-markets ever: Tom Steyer.
This son of a bitch made his money on 'green' issues; every one of them subsidized by you and me, and further spends his spare time lobbying for more government 'support' for those issues.
All brought to you by that grease-ball Newsom...
please do a good thing young, wonderful, loving, beautiful young people. Go to work to maintain our society and quality of life like you are Superman, because you are....actually not going to be harmed by this Virus!
We'll be fine. You'll die alone in your home, safe and sound, huddled over an expired can of chicken soup.
Mmm-hmm...
Say what you will about the Soviet Union, but they never would have allowed some Marin county homeopathic hippie contrail conspiracy theorist to refuse to inoculate their precious little son and daughter, Freedom and Sunshine. They would have strapped Freedom and Sunshine in a fucking dilapidated cot, found the biggest gauge needle available in the hospital and gave those two little spoiled fuckers the vaccine pronto, and then consigned their mother to a re-education camp somewhere on the north slope of Kamatchka. I’m not saying that’s necessarily the way we should handle it— just that I have my ambivalences.
They would have strapped Freedom and Sunshine in a fucking dilapidated cot, found the biggest gauge needle available in the hospital and gave those two little spoiled fuckers the vaccine pronto
The biggest gauge needle in the hospital is the only needle in the hospital and was used by the head doctor to shoot up heroin before hand.
It hasn't been cleaned.
Also there's no vaccine. Just a picture of Dear Leader to pray to. The parents still go to the gulag though.
After treatment the children go to a different gulag for the crime of being related to the parents.
You seem a little enamored with that scenario.
And you continue to gaslight that this mandatory stay at home order is voluntary. You're a dumb piece of shit. Are you only repeating that because your dreamy reason writers are pushing that idea?
Wait, you are taking AmSoc's side here?
I see a lot of your fellow travelers here on the comment page advocating the we do things like get tough with homeless people who defecate on the street. How am I different? True... I guess I do advocate that the government actually regulate the activities of people who actually have money so that’s different.
"I see a lot of your fellow travelers here on the comment page advocating the we do things like get tough with homeless people who defecate on the street. How am I different?"
You'd shoot them for thinking about pooping on the street, shitbag.
The Gulags. The Gulags are how you're different.
You're ambivalent about the millions of people the Soviet Union starved in the 20th century? That's socialism for you. Something only a faggot like you could love.
Say what you will about the Soviet Union, but they never would have allowed some Marin county homeopathic hippie contrail conspiracy theorist to refuse to inoculate their precious little son and daughter, Freedom and Sunshine.
That's because they are The State's son and daughter, right?
“Say what you will about the Soviet Union.......”
Is never followed by anything not awful.
Faust is right, of course. If people comply voluntarily, then authorities are foolish to compel them. That arouses needless resistance and hostility.
To that end, authorities are indeed wise to do everything possible to make compliance with needful social restrictions as un-onerous as possible. Every restriction which can reasonably be withheld should be withheld. Marginal cases should be decided on the basis of liberality. To the extent possible, let liberty be the rule, and correct misjudgments by follow-up policy changes after evidence discloses mistakes.
That said, compliance with restrictions which are needful is not about pleasing arbitrary authority. It is about saving lives—an objective which justifiably puts the power of civil authority at its zenith. That includes the power to say which restrictions are needful.
If compliance with needful restrictions is flouted en masse, there must be a response as resolute as called for by any other deadly riot. Alas, with coronavirus, any tightly packed mass gathering, no matter how peaceful in aspect, must be treated as deadly. To do less is to lose sight of the objective.
Lack of enforcement is abdication of duty, and undermines the critical understanding that extraordinary measures are called for because the alternative is catastrophe. If during a protest like the one recently in Michigan, people were being visibly maimed and murdered, the only justified objections would have been against authorities who stood by and did nothing. Deaths caused by transmission of virus are no less horrific because transmission is invisible.
State governors must review their policies, to make sure nothing in them amounts to needless provocation. Everything must be judged for its ability to protect life, with judgment based on the evidence of scientific authority. Unfortunately, this is not a consideration where democracy's rule, "Democracy means my ignorance is as good as your knowledge," can be allowed a place, at least not until the next election.
After weeding unnecessary restrictions, it is time to be resolute. No matter who organizes civil resistance to needful, life-saving measures, governors must be ready to apply whatever force is necessary to disperse demonstrators. Those who will not disperse voluntarily may have to be isolated forcefully. Governors must think ahead, and be sure they have timely ability to apply force sufficient to make that happen. Defiant mass gatherings conducted without regard to public safety must be dispersed.
I have no doubt that some reading this will bristle, and threaten armed resistance. The nation has more than its share of self-dramatizing fools, sunk in confusion, but nevertheless armed, so we cannot expect otherwise. If governors allow that to intimidate them—when the threats are directed their way—the governors shirk their duty. Preventing overthrow of civil authority amidst emergency is perhaps the only thing more important than saving lives during the pandemic.
Governors, make measures necessary to suppress the pandemic as endurable as possible, but remember that the pandemic must be suppressed. It must be suppressed everywhere, not just in the areas now hardest hit—lest those shortly trade places with the others. With mistiming, and a lack of national unity on policy, there exists an emerging threat that hard-hit locales and relative havens might trade places repeatedly, as insufficiently coordinated policy ineffectually chased the virus around the nation.
It seems that circumstances now require more planning and organization than anyone has yet given the task. Because of the default of President Trump, governors must combine to plan at least regionally. Not planning invites chaos in a time of disorder. Delaying, to see what happens next, would be extremely unwise.
If compliance with needful restrictions is flouted en masse, there must be a response as resolute as called for by any other deadly riot. Alas, with coronavirus, any tightly packed mass gathering, no matter how peaceful in aspect, must be treated as deadly.
Serious question: What is your recommendation for a "response"? Nuke any tightly packed mass gathering from orbit?
Nah, send one Texas Ranger. One riot, one Ranger. Two riots, two Rangers. Just like it has always been.
But seriously? Rioting is a familiar law enforcement problem. I think the customary final resort, when rioters are killing people, is martial law. But I leave that to experts.
Got any suggestions? Are you trying to imply that when law breaking delivers deadly results, government should just fall right over? Do you suppose Trump should send in the cavalry, to make the state yield to his mobs? Since you are of a serious turn of mind, I will ask you this one. Is there anything wrong with President Trump fomenting rebellion against state governments? Don't you think the very first thing that ought to happen is that everyone demand that Trump cut that out?
//I think the customary final resort, when rioters are killing people, is martial law. //
And if you start with martial law as a first resort, you never have to worry about things getting out hand!
Your endorsements are eventually going to get you killed, by the very people whose jackboots you're so content with licking.
Since you are of a serious turn of mind, I will ask you this one. Is there anything wrong with President Trump fomenting rebellion against state governments?
Trump tweeted out "LIBERATE [THREE STATES]!" "Liberate" in this context has the meaning of "set at liberty" or "free". I can see, in these interesting times, why some might perceive this as "fomenting rebellion". However, cooler heads might interpret it as "Godspeed in your efforts to meet the re-opening criteria!" or "Do not re-elect state incumbents this November!"
Don’t you think the very first thing that ought to happen is that everyone demand that Trump cut that out?
He is infamous for being "non-presidential", and this is one more such utterance. People have been so "demanding" from the get-go, with apparently little effect. I do wish he would speak more clearly and accurately and less provocatively.
I appreciate your civil discourse. Seriously.
"...I will ask you this one. Is there anything wrong with President Trump fomenting rebellion against state governments?.."
Dunno, since he didn't do that.
There's certainly something wrong with lying pieces of lefty shit. When did you stop beating your husband, Lathrop?
After weeding unnecessary restrictions, it is time to be resolute. No matter who organizes civil resistance to needful, life-saving measures, governors must be ready to apply whatever force is necessary to disperse demonstrators. Those who will not disperse voluntarily may have to be isolated forcefully. Governors must think ahead, and be sure they have timely ability to apply force sufficient to make that happen. Are you advocating incarcerating and/or killing people for peacefully exercising constitutionally guaranteed rights?
Wow. Amazing.
Also please don't breed.
The only needful restriction is keeping people like Stephen from taking another breath.
Tolerance has taken us to where we are now, and totalitarianism will not be resisted if we continue to tolerate it.
Why would anyone bristle at your open endorsement of a totalitarian crackdown?
Sooner or later, you're going to find yourself on the ground, desperately collecting your teeth, gargling blood, not being able to see clearly and having difficulty breathing, and it will be courtesy of a nice man in riot gear suppressing whatever fucking dangerous thing free people had the audacity to think about doing that day.
You exemplify the notion that statism is a religion.
Since you brought it up, how many lives do you think need to be saved for restrictions to be needful?
Good luck getting an answer on that one. Statists see the justification of their programs and directives as self evident. They're incapable of seeing past their own delusions of self righteous moral superiority. They know better, how dare you question them.
Self-evident, indeed. They've been convinced since day one that if nothing was done, everyone would be dead because some nerd from London drew a scary, data-free graph and passed it off as incontrovertible "science."
Shit.
Even with reality staring them in the face, Bailey is still running around here predicting 300,000 deaths.
"...That said, compliance with restrictions which are needful is not about pleasing arbitrary authority. It is about saving lives—"
Ah, yes, the stated objective of every scumbag authoritarian from day one.
That mask isn't slipping; it was never really in place.
They're sending in cops to AA meetings where people are sitting 6' apart with masks. We're balls deep into the dangerous overreaction, and I say this as someone who maintains that this is NOT "just a cold".
Yikes. You could almost-sensibly say stop sending cops to break up AA meetings, and then monitor participants to see if AA meetings are becoming virus vectors. Only ban the meetings if there is evidence of harm.
Problem is, will AA meeting members want that monitoring, or cooperate with it?
Why risk exposing an officer to infection by sending him into a room of people likely to be harboring some quite unorthodox ideas about government authority?
Isn't it easier to smoke them out with tear gas and then mow them down with machine gun fire as they run out for air?
Harder to keep quiet...
Voluntary compliance!
Let's make everything voluntary! If we ever have a total war where our national existence is at stake, let's make the entire thing voluntary! That will work out great too!
Here's the truth, voluntary compliance won't work until the bodies start piling up. As we have seen from the beginning. lots of people refused to believe it was a threat until they see it with their own eyes. They needed to see refrigerated trucks full of bodies in NYC to believe it. Many still don't see the threat in their states, it's only a few hundred cases! Had we taken decisive government action like South Korea, Taiwan, etc did, we wouldn't be in this mess right now
Here’s the truth, voluntary compliance won’t work until the bodies start piling up.
*** scratches head ***
You know, that statement can be taken in more than one way.
Indeed
Hilarious seeing people from outside NYC telling people **in** NYC that they aren't panicking enough or noticing the apocalyptic chaos all around them.
It's a classic. I routinely get told about what a disaster zone it is here in NYC.
I LIVE HERE I WOULD KNOW yet somehow this does not sink in.
"Had we taken decisive government action we wouldn't be in this mess right now." Read: "Had we imposed jackbooted thuggery more quickly we wouldn't have as much jackbooted thuggery as we do now." If you want people to learn a lesson from piled-up bodies you're going to have a long wait. They still haven't drawn any conclusions from the 120-million-plus people slaughtered by their all-caring governments last century. They're unlikely to learn anything from something as subtle as the bodies *not* piling up from this bullshit non-event virus.
"...Had we taken decisive government action like South Korea, Taiwan, etc did, we wouldn’t be in this mess right now."
You.
Are.
Full
Of.
Shit.
Libertarians know, far better than most, the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of even the best of governments; and we've seen in the C-19 that America suffers from something far less than the best. We have both the most cases of and the most deaths from C-19 in the world. Over 1500 more Americans died in one day from C-19 than from 9/11 and more in the few weeks of C-19 deaths than in all of the years of of the Korean War.
It is clear, that the Doc is right. Individuals must voluntarily do far more to fight this pandemic than the failing bare minimums coming from our failing government.
Our government failed and is still failing because it's led by an incompetent buffoon put there by our RW.
Like I said, many other governments enacted an effective plan.
Just kill anyone who objects, I guess.
You fucking ignorant asshats are complaining about people objecting to the government intensifying its totalitarian crackdown, and you expect people here to take you seriously?
Our government failed and is still failing because it’s led by an incompetent buffoon put there by our RW.
Uh, Cuomo and DeBlasio were elected by the LW.
And get up off of your damn knees.
"Our government failed and is still failing because it’s led by an incompetent buffoon put there by our RW."
While I agree about Trump being a buffoon and deserving a large share of this failure, the capering buffoon was actually put there by a few Obama voters in a few electorally key Obama states. Too many, among both Trump's supporters and his detractors, fail to see him clearly. Trump was not a conservative (certainly not a conservatarian) victory over collectivist grievance politics, ala Obama; but an unconditional surrender to it. Trump wasn't a Democrat and a big Democrat donor for longer than I've been alive, and my beard was mostly gray before I shaved to wear a mask for C-19, for no reason.
"Our government failed and is still failing because it’s led by an incompetent buffoon put there by our RW."
I didn't know Newsom and Cuomo were right wing, you fucking lefty ignoramus.

Look at Whitmer threaten punishment on those who merely wish to live their lives relatively free, and express their opinion about being forcibly confined and driven into destitution. Look at Pelosi grandstand in front of her $10,000 kitchen appliances filled with thousands of dollars worth of goodies. Look at the cops of North Carolina forcibly detain a protester for thinking rights are a thing, or those in Colorado haul off a man for having the temerity to play catch with his daughter.
See how the leftists of the hivemind salivate at the prospect of central authority imposing drastic lifestyle conditioning on the populace, and destroying 10s of millions of lives. See the technocrats and experts live fat on the panic and fear they fraudulently manufacture.
Watch the powers that be seize totalitarian control, eliminating independence and competition, and strike the pose of virtuous heroes granting the “little people” a pittance.
This will only continue, because those pushing for this power, the power to utterly dominate and prescribe everyone’s way of life, believe themselves invincible. They believe themselves untouchable, The People too far away and too meek to stop them.
Tolerance can indeed be weakness, and at this point it is.
There is only one way back, one way out – and you’re not going to like it.
Violence is not only justified, but absolutely necessary.
Oh yes, every day we leftists just salivate over the prospect of enslaving you!
This is why libertarians are idiots. You need to catch it yourself or have one of your loved ones die from it before you get it.
Had it.
Had worse colds.
The world didn't end for me, or the many people I know that had it and shook it off like the cold that it is for 99% of people.
Done crying yet?
Oh yes, every day we leftists just salivate over the prospect of enslaving you!
You're not smart enough to see it as enslavement.
"You’re not smart enough to see it as enslavement."
I suspect that the nationalists, communists, leftists, socialists, and populists and every other distinction without a difference stripe of collectivist and statist does see it as enslavement and are all too happy with it.
This is why leftists are retards: They can't conceive of people having principles and upholding ideals that they don't abandon at the first hint of difficulty. Or germs, in this case. Nothing's real to a leftist until or unless he's experienced it himself, so he assumes nothing can be real to anyone else until they've experienced it, too. Unless a leftist has personally been hit in the head with a brick he wouldn't dream of objecting to someone else being hit in the head with a brick, and even then he'll say it's not the same thing because the kind of brick used to smash the other guy's head isn't available in his area, so he has nothing to worry about.
Well said, and funny. Too fucking true.
"Oh yes, every day we leftists just salivate over the prospect of enslaving you!
This is why libertarians are idiots. You need to catch it yourself or have one of your loved ones die from it before you get it."
Yep, you simply wish those who don't comply with your wishes dead.
IDK if you salivate, but your desires are not at all hard to see, lefty fucking thug.

"Japan and Singapore were glimmers of hope throughout the coronavirus pandemic, but now both countries are struggling to control the breakout as new waves of infections hit the two countries."
https://www.axios.com/japan-singapore-coronavirus-infections-a617efde-3e04-4baf-9a65-377f10454acf.html
The failure is not only, that our government in America has failed us; but that government in general fails individuals. Even the best of government fails individuals because its interests are collective and its own, not those of the individual.
Japan and Singapore, despite doing very well at the start of the pandemic, succumbed to collective economic and political interests and are suffering another wave of cases. Governments can never protect you well enough or long enough, not only due to the Hayekian Knowledge Problem, but also because their interest is in the collective (or worse yet their specific subset of the collective) not you.
Government isn't a magic wand that can stop viruses from spreading? Who knew? As long as their system isn't overwhelmed, they successfully flattened the curve, right?
I have doubts about the hyper contagious nature of this virus. I traveled to Asia (not China) between last week of Jan through Feb 10. When going I had two 10 hour flights with a 4 hour halt at London Heathrow/LHR. Coming back, I had a 22 hour halt at LHR because I missed the connection in London to US because of delays due to a storm in UK. So I was in 4x10 hour flights and 26 hours at one of the busiest international airports. There were also very crowded situations in the buses and trains at various airports changing terminals. And at that time, flights from China were halted to US, flights were still coming into Europe.
I presume based on the way this virus is being described, I should have caught COVID-19 during those 14 days in such high risk situations. Or maybe I caught it and was asymptomatic. But I should have infected my family (wife/kids) too who till now have no symptoms.
https://www.gilmorehealth.com/chinese-coronavirus-is-a-man-made-virus-according-to-luc-montagnier-the-man-who-discovered-hiv/
Chinese Coronavirus Is a Man Made Virus According to Luc Montagnier the Man Who Discovered HIV
According to Professor Luc Montagnier, winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2008 for “discovering” HIV as the cause of the AIDS epidemic together with Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the SARS-CoV-2 is a virus that was manipulated and accidentally released from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, in the last quarter of 2019. According to Professor Montagnier, this laboratory, known for its work on coronaviruses, tried to use one of these viruses as a vector for HIV in the search for an AIDS vaccine!
“With my colleague, bio-mathematician Jean-Claude Perez, we carefully analyzed the description of the genome of this RNA virus,” explains Luc Montagnier, interviewed by Dr Jean-François Lemoine for the daily podcast at Pourquoi Docteur, adding that others have already explored this avenue: Indian researchers have already tried to publish the results of the analyses that showed that this coronavirus genome contained sequences of another virus, … the HIV virus (AIDS virus), but they were forced to withdraw their findings as the pressure from the mainstream was too great.

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/shocking-report-shows-half-homeless-boston-shelter-tested-positive-covid-19-and-none
The CDC is now "actively looking into" into universal COVID-19 testing at Pine Street Inn homeless shelter.
The broad-scale testing took place at the shelter in Boston’s South End a week and a half ago because of a small cluster of cases there.
Of the 397 people tested, 146 people tested positive. Not a single one had any symptoms.
"It was like a double knockout punch. The number of positives was shocking, but the fact that 100 percent of the positives had no symptoms was equally shocking," said Dr. Jim O’Connell, president of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, which provides medical care at the city’s shelters.
The homeless are tougher than the rest of us!
CA's 'return to normalcy' includes what seems to be a centrally planned economy schemed by a committee of Top Men:
"Tom Steyer, four ex-governors to advise Newsom on path back from shutdown"
[...]
"The recommendations of the task force also will aim to advance California’s environmental and racial equity goals. Its mission, in part, is to “shape a fair, green and prosperous future.”

Thanks JFree, Hihn and the rest of you cowardly pieces of shit who managed to get the economy turned over to scum like Newsom.
We don’t need a planned path just let the people go back to work and everything will work out unless their goal is more control. Which it is

The Rules:
1. Basically, you can't leave the house for any reason, but if you have to, then you can.
2. Masks are useless, but maybe you have to wear one, it can save you, it is useless, but maybe it is mandatory as well.
3. Stores are closed, except those that are open.
4. You should not go to hospitals unless you have to go there. Same applies to doctors, you should only go there in case of emergency, provided you are not too sick.
5. This virus is deadly but still not too scary, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster.
6. Gloves won't help, but they can still help.
7. Everyone needs to stay HOME, but it's important to GO OUT.
8. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarket, but there are many things missing when you go there in the evening, but not in the morning. Sometimes.
9. The virus has no effect on children except those it affects.
10. Animals are not affected, but there is still a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there…
11. You will have many symptoms when you are sick, but you can also get sick without symptoms, have symptoms without being sick, or be contagious without having symptoms. Oh, my..
12. In order not to get sick, you have to eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand and it's better not to go out, well, but no…
13. It's better to get some fresh air, but you get looked at very wrong when you get some fresh air, and most importantly, you don't go to parks or walk. But don’t sit down, except that you can do that now if you are old, but not for too long or if you are pregnant (but not too old).
14. You can't go to retirement homes, but you have to take care of the elderly and bring food and medication.
15. If you are sick, you can't go out, but you can go to the pharmacy.
16. You can get restaurant food delivered to the house, which may have been prepared by people who didn't wear masks or gloves. But you have to have your groceries decontaminated outside for 3 hours. Pizza too?
17. Every disturbing article or disturbing interview starts with " I don't want to trigger panic, but…"
18. You can't see your older mother or grandmother, but you can take a taxi and meet an older taxi driver.
19. You can walk around with a friend but not with your family if they don't live under the same roof.
20. You are safe if you maintain the appropriate social distance, but you can’t go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance.
21. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours, no, four, no, six, no, we didn't say hours, maybe days? But it takes a damp environment. Oh no, not necessarily.
22. The virus stays in the air - well no, or yes, maybe, especially in a closed room, in one hour a sick person can infect ten, so if it falls, all our children were already infected at school before it was closed. But remember, if you stay at the recommended social distance, however in certain circumstances you should maintain a greater distance, which, studies show, the virus can travel further, maybe.
23. We count the number of deaths but we don't know how many people are infected as we have only tested so far those who were "almost dead" to find out if that's what they will die of…
24. We have no treatment, except that there may be one that apparently is not dangerous unless you take too much (which is the case with all medications).
25. We should stay locked up until the virus disappears, but it will only disappear if we achieve collective immunity, so when it circulates… but we must no longer be locked up for that?
