Just thinking out loud. Suppose we had faced up to reality and pulled out in 2010. Wouldn't everyone we recruited/enticed in Afghanistan after 2010 be spared the current dangers they're in? Who's responsibility are they now? The Joint Chiefs? Every commander we sent there after 2010? Obama? Bush/Cheney/Rummy (my first choices because they ignored the Powell Doctrine there and in Iraq)?
Everyone prior to 2010 would still be screwed.
Only idiots trust the United States.
Or any other government, or indeed any government. They aren't known for caring about anybody, including themselves.
