Darts and Laurels for the Late George H.W. Bush: Podcast
Also: How much should we care that Trump & co. lied in 2016 about a Putin-proximate real estate deal in Russia?

What else can we say about the departed George H.W. Bush, other than that he wasn't the worst president in our lifetimes but otherwise left little for libertarians to cheer about aside from not freaking out while communism collapsed? On the latest editors' roundtable edition of the Reason Podcast, Katherine Mangu-Ward and Peter Suderman add their contributions to the pool already populated by co-podcasters Nick Gillespie and me. Hint: involves supermarket scanners.
Also discussed: Last week's huge volume of news on all things Mueller/Trump/Russia, the multi-administration follies of Government Motors, the technologic inadequacies of certain podcast participants, and of course the Reason Webathon (Donate right the hell now!).

Has Reason mentioned - either in the articles, podcasts or comments - the details of the GHWBush WWII shoot-down and the island where the surviving aircrew met their demise through ritualistic cannibalism by the Imperial Japanese?
This info wasn't released to the public until 2003.
Bush Sr WWII shootdown details
Unlike many prisoners of the Japanese, however, four of the Navy pilots were slaughtered by their captors, who then had surgeons cut out their livers and thigh muscles ? and then prepare the meat for Japanese officers.
Surgeons removed a four-inch by 12-inch piece of thigh, weighing six pounds. According to those Japanese survivors who were on the island, it was prepared with soy sauce and vegetables, then washed down with hot sake.
Not many people know of the incident.
I read where they ate the livers too.
I hadnt heard it.
Must have been to minimize dislike of japanese after WWII. I could not forgive a culture that ate or tortured my friends. Its too far and subhuman.
Good Humans dont eat other people or sadistically torture other people. In the USA we normally execute those criminals.
"The truth is, this election is about the beliefs we share, the values we honor, the principles we hold dear?. I'm the one who won't raise taxes. My opponent now says he'll raise them as a last resort, or a third resort. When a politician talks like that, you know that's one resort he'll be checking into. My opponent won't rule out raising taxes. But I will. The Congress will push me to raise taxes, and I'll say no, and they'll push, and I'll say no, and they'll push again, and I'll say to them, "Read my lips: no new taxes."
- HW Bush, Liar.
He was never a conservative, had no principles, and undid every Reagan reform, including the tax cuts, as fast as he could.
He also bombed Iraqi civilians and used depleted uranium on their infrastructure, giving them cancer.
Cancer is the least of their worries. Arabs dont use toilet paper but their hands to wipe their asses.
