What else can we say about the departed George H.W. Bush, other than that he wasn't the worst president in our lifetimes but otherwise left little for libertarians to cheer about aside from not freaking out while communism collapsed? On the latest editors' roundtable edition of the Reason Podcast, Katherine Mangu-Ward and Peter Suderman add their contributions to the pool already populated by co-podcasters Nick Gillespie and me. Has Reason mentioned - either in the articles, podcasts or comments - the details of the GHWBush WWII shoot-down and the island where the surviving aircrew met their demise through ritualistic cannibalism by the Imperial Japanese?

Unlike many prisoners of the Japanese, however, four of the Navy pilots were slaughtered by their captors, who then had surgeons cut out their livers and thigh muscles ? and then prepare the meat for Japanese officers.

Surgeons removed a four-inch by 12-inch piece of thigh, weighing six pounds. According to those Japanese survivors who were on the island, it was prepared with soy sauce and vegetables, then washed down with hot sake.
