Willett, Bolick, Sykes: Three Great Picks to Replace Anthony Kennedy: Podcast
Damon Root explains what libertarians will lose and might gain from a SCOTUS shakeup.

By announcing his retirement from the Supreme Court (effective at the end of July), Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy has poured more gas on a political season that's already in flames. Since joining the Court in the late 1980s, Kennedy has been seen as the key swing vote and, in the words of Reason Senior Editor Damon Root, "perhaps the single most influential jurist alive today," who "will surely go down in American legal history as one of the most influential justices to serve on the high court."
In today's Reason Podcast, I talk with Root, author of the 2014 book Overruled: The Long War for Control of the U.S. Supreme Court, about Kennedy's crucial role in rulings on issues such as free speech, campaign finance, gay marriage, and abortion. One of the country's keenest Supreme Court watchers, Root also talks about possible replacements for Kennedy and why he'd like to see the president nominate a jurist like Don Willett, Clint Bolick, or Diane S. Sykes.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was hoping for as soon as I heard the announcement.
I hope it is Sykes. She would make a fine justice and her appointment would come with the added pleasure of watching Progressives lose their minds and hurt every sort of sexist slur imaginable, because they care about women.
Amul Thapar seems a bit too conservative and not enough libertarian, but it would be fun to watch the Dems try and stop the first Asian/Indian person from being on the court.
Won't be Sykes. She's not a white guy. As much as it could take wind out of the "GOP is the party of white men", Trump will not be able to bring himself to nominate someone he doesn't have completely trust (which is only people just like him) to a position he can't fire them from. Have you noticed that he only hires women to run institutions he's trying to destroy (Dept of Education, the U.N....)?
He didn't know Gorsuch from Joe the Plumber.
I believe even more strongly today than I did yesterday that the pick is going to be Amy Coney Barrett.
And if I'm right and she is the pick, not only is it a virtual certainty that Joe Manchin of West Virginia votes 'Yes', but it's an absolute 100% drop-dead lock certainty that Joe Donnelly of her home state of Indiana votes 'Yes' as well. In other words, she's basically guaranteed to be confirmed, no matter how much impotent rage, venom, and spittle "The Resistance" lets fly.
Watching the mean, ugly old harridans like Dianne Feinstein give her grief while insulting millions of women and Catholics around America on national television will be rather delicious though!
A majority of American Catholics support abortion rights.
You're still butthurt, aren't you?
It's unfortunate.
Not church attending Catholics.
So what?
"The majority of Democrats support a pro-life position"
"Your poll includes people who never vote Democrats, they just self identify as such"
"So what?"
I'm going to go with- you're not very bright
A truly brave pick for the SCOTUS seat would be an AI program. Watson? Lucy?
No love for Randy E. Barnett (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Barnett)? Author of "Restoring the Lost Constitution", which answers the question of how to apply the 9th amendment, he's my top pick. I've emailed the Pres to tell him so!
I think you are supposed to Tweet this pres. Not sure he actually reads his email.
Alas, Bolick is too good to ever end up on SCOTUS. Most libertarians, who get their ideas from web sites and videos, will never read his fine book, Grassroots Tyranny.
You have a citation or are you just talking out of your backside?
What about Napolitano?
