Charlie Kirk speaking | Gage Skidmore/ZUMAPRESS/Newscom
(Gage Skidmore/ZUMAPRESS/Newscom)

The FBI hasn't caught the killer: So far, the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Kash Patel has struggled to find the man who shot and killed Charlie Kirk. They've caught and released several suspects, giving false starts about motive and details uncovered at the scene. News broke this morning that a third suspect is in custody, but we have very little detail so far about whether this one is the guy.

For example, "an early bulletin circulated widely among law enforcement officials said investigators found ammunition engraved with expressions of 'transgender and anti-fascist ideology' inside the rifle that authorities believe was used in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk," reported The Wall Street Journal yesterday. "But some officials later Thursday cautioned against reaching conclusions based on the internal report." ("The bulletin said an older-model .30 caliber hunting rifle was discovered in the woods near the scene of Wednesday's shooting at Utah Valley University, wrapped in a towel with a spent cartridge still in the chamber. There were also three unspent rounds in the magazine, all with wording on them, it said," added the Journal.)

The Reason Roundup Newsletter by Liz Wolfe Liz and Reason help you make sense of the day's news every morning.

Now, police have shared photographs of a person of interest, obtained via surveillance footage at the scene. But it's a college-aged man wearing a hat and sunglasses, with an American flag and eagle shirt on it—probably an outfit designed for him to fit in, and no really identifiable characteristics. "We need as much help as we can possibly get," said Utah Gov. Spencer Cox. Investigators added that they had gotten a footwear impression as well as palm and forearm imprints, all of which might possibly be helpful.

Meanwhile in Washington, D.C., lawmakers like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D–N.Y.) are doing the precise opposite of what Kirk would've wanted: Using his death as an opportunity to call for gun control. But someone should press Ocasio-Cortez to cite a specific law that would have stopped this shooting; we don't actually know anything about the shooter, and from the weapon recovered, it looks like a hunting rifle was used. So what, exactly, is her vision for how to prevent this type of thing going forward?

— Thomas Sowell Quotes (@ThomasSowell) September 11, 2025

(Note that the other high-profile instance of violence that's gone viral this week was a brutal stabbing on a light rail train. We have a violence problem in this country that people confuse with a gun problem.)

Meanwhile, writer Konstantin Kisin makes a good point about double standards between right and left. "Never once since Charlie Kirk was assassinated have I worried about the possibility of riots, burning of cities, 'autonomous zones' or violence in the streets," writes Kisin. "And this is for a decent family man murdered in cold blood for his political opinions. In the summer of 2020, all of those things happened across America and many other countries too. Over a career criminal who died in a police interaction with a negligent and careless cop."

"So no, I don't believe either party has a monopoly on political violence," he continues. "We've seen left wing politicians attacked and killed too. It's just as awful and just as wrong. But I also think it's worth noticing what's not there and thinking about why."

You could point to certain factors at play: George Floyd, whom he was referencing, was killed at the hands of an agent of the state, whereas Kirk was the victim of an illegal act of violence. But Kisin is right that the killing of Kirk, as he was engaged in political speech, probably should elicit more outrage from even those who disagree with him. Instead, some of the reaction videos—because, yes, that's a genre now—have been just plain startling, denigrating the idea of taking the moral high ground and expressing sympathy for the man's widow and children:

"Charlie Kirk was shot saying something transphobic about trans people… You don't have to like violence, but I'm confused at how you thought the revolution would be magically bloodless."

Transgenderism is a very sick cult.
pic.twitter.com/GCCAKbWraf

— Genevieve Gluck (@WomenReadWomen) September 11, 2025

There was the "we got Charlie in the neck" chant. The "no empathy" crowd. The "this was God's plan" girl. The "finally someone grew a pair" woman. The "now he's a deadbeat father" gal. The "this one was a welcome surprise (but not the one we were hoping for)" person. And many more. Then there was all the mocking.

If you actually watch the ample footage of Kirk debating people, you'll see over and over again, a humane and thoughtful person. Sometimes he's engaged in showmanship, and the debate is all a sport. But especially in recent years, you see a man strong in his convictions, who seems to take legitimate pleasure in serving as an unlikely therapist to students who are deeply questioning politics, philosophy, and how to find meaning.

Meanwhile, The New York Times wants you to believe that his views—like his belief in the Second Amendment—were "controversial," a description they don't use when describing, say, liberals who are pro-choice:

That controversial belief that's enshrined in our Constitution and that 51% of Americans support pic.twitter.com/j19lhm7z89

— Liz Wolfe (@LizWolfeReason) September 11, 2025

The New York Times, of course, has long had problems figuring out how to cover conservatives (more here), but I'm more interested in whether the edgy videos are Frantz Fanon LARPing or attention-seeking incentivized by an algorithm or an earnest undercurrent on the left. (Maybe all of the above.) I think it's mostly that last one, and it's been going on for my entire adult life—I entered college in 2014, two years after Kirk's Turning Point USA got off the ground, when the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, galvanized a movement against police brutality and an ensuing wave of racial hypersensitivity and tension. In the years since, we've had firings and deplatformings and narrowing of Overton windows, specifically in academia and anywhere a critical mass of leftists can amass enough power to silence those with whom they disagree. Acting like words do the same damage violence does—which was always false—seems to have given way to leftists justifying violence as retribution for certain words.

Scenes from New York: I spent a lot of last night toggling back and forth between viewing TikTok leftists celebrating Kirk's murder and viewing footage of heroes putting their lives on the line on 9/11. I can't help but feel, viscerally, that people were just built differently then, even as recently as 24 years ago, dashing into harm's way not for social media glory but because of an almost devout appreciation for American ideals, a sense of honor and duty both to country and fellow man. (I'm pregnant, dammit, I'm allowed to be this sappy and patriotic.)

I always come back to the Ladder 118 photo from 9/11. One little truck, six guys, thousands of people in trouble. The odds were against them. No one on this truck ever came home. But them going was the right thing to do. Sometimes that's how it goes. pic.twitter.com/yOg9XQA7Mc

QUICK HITS

  • "Inflation hit its highest annualized level since January by rising to 2.9 percent in August, according to consumer price data released Thursday by the Department of Labor," writes Reason's Eric Boehm. "In the past month, prices climbed by 0.4 percent, the highest month-over-month increase since December 2024….The consumer price index showed that rising prices in August hit all levels of what voters might consider 'everyday essentials.' Food prices climbed by 0.5 percent, while energy prices shot up by 0.7 percent. Clothing (up 0.5 percent), new and used vehicles (up 0.3 percent and 1 percent, respectively), and shelter (up 0.4 percent) all climbed as well."

You can really see the price impact of tariffs on audio equipment like speakers, microphones, & headphones—they're some of the few electronics not exempt from tariffs (most smartphones/computers are still tariff-free) & so prices are up more than 12% year-on-year pic.twitter.com/EhHXQoGimJ

— Joey Politano ????️‍???? (@JosephPolitano) September 11, 2025

  • "European leaders accused Russia on Thursday of a deliberate incursion by sending drones to invade Polish airspace, and said they saw the provocation as a test—both for the Kremlin and for Europe—of NATO's readiness to defend its territory," reports The Washington Post. "Article 5 of the NATO treaty states that an attack on one ally constitutes an attack on all, though Poland would have to request help and the other 31 allies would have to unanimously agree to take action under the common-defense clause." Poland has instead requested help under Article 4, which "trigger[s] a consultation among allies over whether one is under threat."
  • This is very sweet:

Like all of you, I am mourning Charlie Kirk. He stood up for his beliefs and died for them at 31, wearing a T‑shirt that read "Freedom."

At 31, my life was taken from me for standing up for what I believed in. And Charlie helped me get it back. He never took credit for it but he… pic.twitter.com/Mmvm6ERWG6

  • And now for your weekend palate cleanser! Though I'm personally against orgies, I'm even more against stupid zoning codes:

You can have as many orgies as you want in your home. But if you start charging for the orgies in a residential neighborhood, then it's a zoning violation, as this Vegas sex club is learning. pic.twitter.com/FYpPAN34Vn

    1. Don't look at me! ( Is the war over yet?)   2 months ago

      Seems suspicious.

    2. JesseAz (RIP CK)   2 months ago

Apparently he drove to the station with his minister.

The least self aware video yesterday is the guy who asked the question when Kirk was shot. He cant comprehend the inanity of his question. He basically says he was just telling Kirk how peaceful the left was right before he was shot. The dude cant reconcile the violence of the left even after Kirk was shot.

      1. Idaho-Bob   2 months ago

The guy celebrating at the event while Kirk bled out. He's confused why his wife left, everyone hates him, and he's getting death threats.

You cheered facing a camera while a man died.

        1. JesseAz (RIP CK)   2 months ago

But he's sorry now. So it is okay.

That guy was the real dick. You're celebrating a political assassination and are confused as to why you're being singled out?

            Age of Entitlement

      2. Chumby   2 months ago

We don’t know much about the current suspect. 48-hour rule/fog of war.

        1. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

Daily Fail and Kiwifarms have the dope on him. It's pretty cut and dried because he apparently confessed to his father (who just happens to work for the county sheriff's department, lol), and told his friend to pick up the gun. He's federally fucked.

He looks just like that spazzoid Beto O'Rourke, incidentally. Typical Pod Save America bro that's a product of Discord and Reddit. Hilarious.

Also, Patel came out of this looking completely fucking incompetent. He's fucking lucky the tard was related to an LEO and ended up confessing, probably because he knew it was just a matter of time and he didn't want his family to be collateral damage.

          1. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

A couple of lessons need to come out of this:
            1) Don't outsource your parenting to teachers
            2) Don't shy away from discussing politics with your kids just because it's uncomfortable. Doing so leaves a void that WILL be filled by the first political person outside the family who gets influence over your kids, whether it's some woke school teacher/professor, or a Reddit troon. If you have relatives that are openly political, challenge them for the same reason. You don't let these people take the initiative on influencing your children; you have to fight that tooth and nail.

It won't guarantee that they won't become some wokey convert like this douche, but don't let it be said that you sat back and didn't show them a better way, either.

            1. Weigel's Cock Ring   2 months ago

We desperately need an organization with the sole mission of trying to recruit normal patriotic American parents to run for their local school boards. I think you could make a decent argument that who controls the school boards is more important than who controls the White House.

Too many parents out there still have absolutely no clue of just what their sweet innocent little kids are being subjected to on a daily basis and just how fucking evil and demonic many of these public school teachers and administrators are now.

              1. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

I've been saying this for years. Reagan-era/neocon brainwashing that "I'm not corrupt enough to get involved in government" is ultimately what led to this. People, especially adult males, who aren't countering the Karenocracy at the school board and city council meetings are doing just as much damage to their communties as the commies in academia.

          2. But SkyNet is a Private Company   2 months ago

            How exactly is Patel incompetent?

The father wouldn’t have turned him in without recognizing him from the stuff the cops put out

            1. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

He confessed to his dad that he did it. How the fuck was he supposed to recognize him from those grainy-ass photos they released?

          3. Marshal   2 months ago

Also, Patel came out of this looking completely fucking incompetent.

What makes you say that? He was caught in 33 hours, a little over a day, and several days faster than Luigi Mangione was caught. It's not like the FBI was the on-site security who allowed him to escape the scene.

It's hardly a surprise some Dem party loyalists in the FBI took the opportunity to try to shiv him from behind but there's no reason to credit their comments as anything more then political opportunism.

      3. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

I'm going to say that I actually have a lot of sympathy for the guy. Here he is, not doing anything except talking to Kirk about a hot button political topic, and the guy gets brutally assassinated right in front of him.

There's pipehitters in the US military that see that shit and never recover from it; how is some sheltered college leftist, who's never seen real, actual violence in his life and really was just there to debate instead of tard-rage, going to process something like that?

He's going to have nightmares about it for the rest of his life.

        1. The Average Dude (Who's Smarter Than You)   2 months ago

          Agreed.

Someone spotted him the one and the two.

      2. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

Yes, his parents, including his LEO father, are clearly trying to frame him to get the death penalty by falsely telling the FBI that he told them he hated Kirk for his political views.

Nothing gets by you, oh wise one.

        1. JesseAz (RIP CK)   2 months ago

They have evidence on discord as well, Tyler asking his friend to pick up the rifle and such.

Ahhh but they also love gun control. You see gun control disarm their law abiding victims.

      1. Jefferson Paul   2 months ago

The Dems love to pass regulations and laws for "safety," as long as they can exempt themselves from the rules that should apply just to the plebs.

With gun control, they want to disarm the people, as long as the politicians still get uber-armed security to protect them.

If these assholes hadn't spent 2020-2022 going on an ideological purge of their own, this wouldn't be happening in response. This is Current Year+10, not the summer of 2020.

And seriously, the complete lack of OPSEC these people are showing is mindboggling. They're literally doxxing themselves. Even the spastics in Trantifa are smart enough to cover their faces and do their tard-raging behind anonymous accounts. You can tell they got VERY used to being indulged for a long time if they are that comfortable with openly celebrating a political assassination and thinking there wouldn't be any consequences for it when their political enemies are running shit now.

And think about this--this isn't the dirtbag left, these are professional, middle class individuals. Teachers, government officials of various stripes, military members, medical professionals, small business owners, etc. If they're that openly happy to see some milquetoast like Kirk get killed, they'll want to do the same to you, too.

For the most part, no. I did see one kindergarten teacher at my daughter's school get removed from teaching and put into an administrative role not because of the reports that she was physically smacking kids but because she physically smacked a kid in front of parents and the principal.

              So that's what it takes.

It has, so far. From the right.

1000s showed up to the capitol, with no firearms. Right wing groups like the proud boys despite being armed never shoot anyone. The disparity between how many guns the right has and how well trained many are, and how many times they are used, is massive.

The left has never had the moral high ground. They use false morality as a tool. It is feigned, not genuine. The sooner you learn this the sooner you'll see their lies.

    1. The Average Dude (Who's Smarter Than You)   2 months ago

You really should get smart and move to the center. That way you can easily see the hypocrisy, lies, distortions, idiocy, and yes, violence that represents both "sides", as I do.

You wanna argue violence is much more prevalent on the left these days? Sure, I'd buy that argument. But to claim that the right never does - or never has - engage in any violence whatsoever and the right consists solely of a bunch of innocent boy scouts with a sash full of badges is just foolish denialism - to put it nicely.

I'm curious since you consider yourself a centrist. Can you cite the proof of billions of dollars of looting done by the people on the right?

How about billions of dollars of damages? Can you cite evidence of right wing protests erupting in violence against police and right wingers wielding Molotov cocktails, frozen water bottles, rocks, concrete blocks, burning churches, police cars and actual police stations down along with businesses like a Wendy's? Not to mention attempting to assassinate the POTUS and assassinating public figures?

You do understand that the killer who attacked Minnesota politicians would be a centrist as the evidence of hate was against and also from both sides? Is this a great place for you to be?

The potential for Ukraine to refurbish failed Russian drones collected and then sending them into Poland as a false flag to try and pull NATO into the conflict directly does exist.

But did this happen? In my opinion Zely would most likely have another dark op deep in Russia where Ukraine is reducing the potential damage Russia can inflict on Ukraine.

Common sense tells us that Putin amassing the size and scope of weaponry and troops in Belarus since invading Ukraine and now running exercises on the border of Poland as had been done prior to invading Ukraine could be the signal things are going to ratchet up and potential for invading the Balkans is higher now than ever.

The Revolt of the Rich Kids
Armed with Ivy League diplomas and cultural capital but locked out of wealth and status, this disaffected class is fueling America’s new radicalism.

    https://www.thefp.com/p/the-revolt-of-the-rich-kids-privilege-status-america

According to The Pew Charitable Trusts, fewer than four in 10 children born into the richest fifth of households stay there; more than one in 10 fall all the way to the bottom fifth. Similarly, a 2014 study in The Quarterly Journal of Economics found that while 36.5 percent of children born to parents in the top income quintile remain there as adults, 10.9 percent fall to the bottom quintile.

Sociologist Musa al-Gharbi, in his 2024 book, We Have Never Been Woke, argues that this downward mobility of children born into wealth is the psychological engine of contemporary politics. This may look like a trivial problem—the petty disappointments of a small slice of America—but the unhappiness of this group, raised to expect the world and denied it, has outsize consequences.

It's not any different from the revolutionaries of the upper-middle and elite classes in the late 1960s. People with World War II envy that they never got the chance to shoot Nazis (even though in reality about half would be shooting Japs), were brainwashed by western marxists into believing the world was going to quickly migrate to the communist utopia Any Day Now, and decided the revolution needed to be accelerated. And yes, most of that energy comes from those classes, because they have the money and time to indulge such stupid movements, and are filled with the same sense of entitlement as most economically well-off leftists.. The actual working classes don't.

Yes, but have you ever wondered why it is that nations count births and limit legal immigration?

It's at least partly for forward thinking civic planning, both public and private.

Which illegal immigration wrecks. A million legal immigrants a year one can make a case for, unlimited illegal immigration not so much. The former can be planned around, the latter cannot. And no, people aren't going to suddenly have several million more kids year over year; or at least that is not probable.

      TN system is the best

Check in at poll with ID
      Get a ticket to vote
Present ticket at booth, get instructions
Make selections on electronic machine that produces a barcoded paper ballot
Place paper ballot into ballot box for scanning later.

You have been verified by ID. There is a record of you voting , but not your individual vote. There is a physical ballot that can’t be tampered with and can be recounted.

It’s essentially a foolproof system that can only be opposed because you want fraud.

      1. JesseAz (RIP CK)   2 months ago

I'm honestly fine with mail in ballots without the mail in. Drop off should require and ID check just like with in person. Basically removing the mail option but extending voting time.

That is how I voted the last two elections. Iowa.

      2. Jefferson Paul   2 months ago

That's a good system, but why even have the electronic machine? Virginia is pretty much the same, except you get a paper ballot and a pen to fill in the circle next to your selection. Then you feed your ballot into the scanner yourself.

Inputting your selections into a machine which then prints out your ballot opens the possibility (even if slim) that the machine could be "malfunctioning" and printing a ballot with incorrect votes. Sure, most people would probably notice it has the wrong selections on the ballot it printed out, but some won't.

        1. Neutral not Neutered   2 months ago

Agreed, paper ballots have the least potential for fraud.

    https://twitchy.com/justmindy/2025/09/04/ilhan-omar-husband-company-owes-irs-200k-n2418446

A company owned by Tim Mynett, the multimillionaire husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), failed to pay its fair share of taxes in 2021, according to a tax lien obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Mynett's company, EStreetCo, accumulated nearly $206,000 in unpaid income, Social Security, and Medicare taxes in 2021, the IRS charged in a tax lien filed against the company in Sonoma County, Calif., in January 2023. Omar, who introduced legislation in February to "make corporations pay their fair share," was married to Mynett when the IRS says the company failed to pay its taxes.

I like how they unironically write about how white people upset the system by moving in, or how they overlook the many calls of "get out of here, this isnt your country, learn to speak spanish" etc...but cant fathom for a second how a border state, or say a town in Ohio overrun with Haitians, might have the same feelings.

Or maybe how for example hospitals have to increase translation services, slow down patient care, divert resources to take care of the extra burden of an unpaying population that cant speak english...no, that doesn't paint the "white people bad" narrative. No, thats nothing like the horrors of *checks notes* "Mexicans having to change their menus for the paying customers"

From what I've seen, he simply said that some people getting killed with guns is an acceptable cost of having robust gun rights. A lot of people avoid saying it that way, but it's what any supporter of gun rights must honestly believe (along with the understanding that there will still be awful murders one way or another, whatever gun restrictions are in place).

          1. Red Rocks White Privilege   2 months ago

As I pointed out to chemtard yesterday, we gave up Prohibition because the social costs of having it outweighed whatever benefits it might have had, even though alcohol kills far more people than firearms and is easier to acquire.

School shootings happened before Columbine, but were typically rare and directed at a few individuals. The media helped make Columbine a pervasive social issue by putting forth what turned out to be a false narrative that the supposed "toxic jock culture" of the school caused it to happen, when in reality Harris was a garden-variety sociopath and Klebold was a passive follower of whatever he did. But the media had to have their "oppressed/oppressor" narrative to push, out of anger for not being in the cool kids club in high school.

That narrative made it a touchstone for adolescent outcasts and malcontents to justify shooting their classmates, because nearly every fucking school shooting, without fail, ends up referencing it.

            1. Jefferson Paul   2 months ago

Yesterday, I applied chemjeff's own reasoning about Kirk's comment to chemjeff's support for open borders. He isn't willing to abandon his support for open immigration, even though it means a number of migrant killers will get into the country and murder Americans. How is that different from Kirk saying that unfortunately to preserve the right to self defense and keep the 2nd Amendment, unfortunately there will still be some gun homicides.

He rails against Kirk for accepting the trade-off that comes with gun rights, but won't admit he's doing the same thing when it comes to immigration. Instead, chemjeff's reply was that Kirk's statement means he (Kirk) doesn't care if someone is murdered. How he can claim that's true, but it's not true that he (chemjeff) doesn't care about the illegal murders, is a mystery to me.

All of your Constitutional Rights come at the cost of safety.

For example, you would be much safer if I could search houses, cars, and people whenever I wanted to, for any reason, or no reason at all. I'd catch more real bad guys. You know those stories about creeps who keep sex slaves locked in their basements for years? I'd find those victims and rescue them. That neighbor of yours who might have a meth lab that is going to send poisonous fumes into your child's bedroom window, or explode and burn down your house? I'd find out for sure whether a lab was there.

How about all those guys who are probably child molesters, and we've got some evidence, but it isn't enough to convict in front of a jury, especially with that defense attorney throwing doubt all over our evidence? Those guys are on the street right now, and a child you love may be their next victim.

Give up your rights under the 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments, and I'll make the world safer for you. No question about it.

The only problem is that if you give up all those rights, which are really just restrictions on the things I'm allowed to do to you, what's going to keep you safe from me?

Every right you have increases your danger from other people who share that right. Free speech? It allows monsters to spread hateful messages, possibly about a group to which you belong, just the same as it allows you to petition your government with legitimate grievances.

That free speech even allows you to argue in favor of discarding freedom and liberty as just too dangerous to trust in the hands of ordinary people. Now that, my friend, is what scares me - that people with opinions like that will spread them to weak-willed individuals who haven't really thought through the consequences. I won't argue for taking that right away, though, despite the dangers. That would be even more scary than you are.

Yes, some people in a free society are always going to abuse those freedoms. Criminals are going to hide behind the 4th amendment to conceal the evidence of their crimes. People who commit horrific acts are going to hire excellent defense attorneys who can convince a jury that doubt exists. And, yes, some people are going to use guns to commit murders.

Freedom is scary, but lack of freedom is scarier.

          3. damikesc   2 months ago

I also liked his usual take on if guns are so dangerous they must be banned...far more people are killed by cars. Should we ban cars?

it's what any supporter of gun rights must honestly believe

Same for all other criminal justice rights. The right to against self-incrimination inescapably results in some guilty people remaining free and their future crimes are the cost of that right.

As we saw yesterday with Jeffey leftists only frame this cost as support justification of murder when they oppose the underlying rights. With rights they support the acceptance this is true is so ingrained and instinctive they don't even recognize it. Ultimately this is the problem with leftists: they just aren't perceptive enough to understand how anything works.

          5. Neutral not Neutered   2 months ago

This is where I stand. And this is the same logic I use to oppose using the armed forces for law enforcement. Freedom comes at a price and with risks.

I'm not convinced that it is so cut and dried and both policies above come with a price and risks as well.

If only criminals have guns, and they know the public is largely disarmed...

As for soldiers on the street...well I've talked a blue streak about that already.

If someone is able to supply me quotes and references to support the idea that he’s far right or extreme I’m willing to examine that. I have yet to see the supposed extreme and hateful rhetoric he endorses and this snippet from a nuanced position, in which he says “Yes, we still have to work to do to reduce shooting deaths,” is constantly put forward. It’s very far from sufficient, and it shows a level of intellect in admitting that perhaps the second amendment comes with a cost.

(Where it fails is that I think he doesn’t argue that shootings might actually increase if you tried to disarm American because the threat of an armed society is a deterrent in itself)

        1. Jefferson Paul   2 months ago

I've probably watched Kirk over the last few years more than most here have, but I wasn't a big supporter of his. What I can tell you is that I wouldn't consider his positions to be moderate, but they weren't extreme either. His positions were pretty typical for a Christian conservative today. His demeanor and how he'd conduct the Q&As WERE very moderate. He didn't shout people down, he was respectful to even the most obnoxious idiots challenging him, and he encouraged those who disagreed to challenge him first.

I think the people on the left that are screaming he was a fascist/racist/transphobe mostly haven't actually watched him beyond a few 10-second clips (most of which are taken out of context intentionally). The leftists who have a better exposure to Kirk and actually believe he is a fascist hate him because he had "wrongthink" AND he was VERY effective at communicating his arguments to the youth. If Kirk sucked at his job, they wouldn't have care so much. I also see the far left, who almost universally HATE Christianity, particularly hated Kirk because his Christianity greatly influenced his political beliefs, and he would evangelize his religion (as well as his politics) at each event. I think he was effective in not only bringing youth (especially male teens and young men) to the right, but also to Christianity.

UPDATE: Rochester man sentenced to 176 days with work release option after allegedly sexually abusing children
    https://www.kaaltv.com/news/top-news/rochester-man-pleads-guilty-to-sexually-abusing-children/

Mohamed Bakari Shei entered an Alford Plea, meaning he pleaded guilty by acknowledging that the state had sufficient evidence to convict him of sexually abusing children in 2017-2019, but maintained his own innocence.

According to court documents, Shei may serve his 176 days via work release or Sentence to Serve, a community project option for offenders who are considered non-violent.

Shei was first accused in 2021 of repeatedly raping a 9-year-old child over the course of a year, between 2018 and 2019. Shei would have been a minor at the time of the assaults, but was prosecuted as an adult.

Shei was later accused of two more counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct when a second child, who was 4-5 years old when the assaults allegedly occurred in 2017 and 2018, told law enforcement that they had also been raped repeatedly.

    When Must We Kill Them?
    https://nicholasdecker.substack.com/p/when-must-we-kill-them

What remains for us to decide is when we fight. If the present administration wills it, it could sweep away the courts, it could sweep away democracy, and it could sweep away freedom. Protest is useful only insofar as it can effect action. Our words might sway the hearts of men, but not of beasts.

If the present administration chooses this course, then the questions of the day can be settled not with legislation, but with blood and iron. In short, we must decide when we must kill them.

      relevant:
Dorian Johnson, witness to Michael Brown’s death, killed in Ferguson

I believe he was the one who fabricated the "hands up, dont shoot". Killed by violent young black man in ferguson. How...predicatable

      1. mad.casual   2 months ago

We're outside the 24 hour rule for both him and Kirk, right?

So if Johnson didn't have his hands up he effectively caused his own death.

Just really has come full circle. Think of all the countless ink (pixels) spilled, riots, protests, govt action, defund the police, movements, massive money/donations, activists that all were birthed as a result of this incident, that this guy lied about, and in a really sad turn of events, because the movement was full of grifters and retarded Karen's who get off on virtue signaling, not only was nothing actually effective done other than performative wokeness, but the same root of the problem that got Michael Brown killed all those years ago, because nothing was actually done about it, came for the other guy who lied about the incident and helped create the narrative that started BLM.

BLM does not even care about all Black lives.

          2. mad.casual   2 months ago

Full circle... except for Charlie Kirk, all the Ukrainians, all the Jews and Palestinians, and all the people killed by rioters who somehow got looped in.

Transgenderism is a very sick cult

My favorite recent quote on the proximate causes of wokeness (and transgenderism): The terminal boredom with the end of history.

    I'm keeping that.

    a humane and thoughtful person.

Oh, fuck all the way off. He was a low rent grifter paid off by reactionaries who LOLed over instances of political violence. Certainly, if the tables were turned and a Leftist was shot in the neck he would have found some way to justify it as a reaction to the Right”s litany of grievance politics. No, really, Liz… fuck you!

I can't help but feel, viscerally, that people were just built differently then, even as recently as 24 years ago,

There have always been both good people and shit people. If we had another 9/11 today we'd see the good people forefronted again.

You must be too young to remember but 9/11/01 was a Tuesday. Wednesday AM college professors began organizing teach-ins to convince students the attack was America's fault. Those teach-ins began that Saturday and the series highlighted many famous comments including Ward Churchill claiming the victims were "Little Eichmanns". So there were plenty of shit people back then too.

There probably are more shit people today largely because the shit people in our education system have had another generation to influence others.

You can really see the price impact of tariffs on audio equipment like speakers, microphones, & headphones

Won't somebody think of all the burgeoning DJs!

I spent a lot of last night toggling back and forth between viewing TikTok leftists celebrating Kirk's murder and viewing footage of heroes putting their lives on the line on 9/11. I can't help but feel, viscerally, that people were just built differently then.

Meme lords are our new national heroes, fighting the terrorism that is content creation.
