Brickbat: Ratcheting Up

Giuseppe Mandara, formerly an officer with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, has been sentenced to three years in state prison after pleading guilty to third-degree aggravated assault against a resident at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center's Special Treatment Unit. Mandara and his victim got into a dispute, and the man walked away. Mandara then left his post to pursue and attack the man, even as another officer tried to stop him. Under the terms of the plea deal, Mandara will be barred from future government employment.

"...Mandara will be barred from future government employment."
We need MORE of this to happen! We need a USA-wide "blacklist" of scumbags who should never work a Government Almighty job, ever again! If the local voters of a given political sub-division decide to hire from the blacklist, that should be their choice... I wonder how many would EVER chose to bypass the blacklist?
Giuseppe??? Was the inmate he was beefing a health insurance exec? If so then I stand behind his actions, obviously.

Isn't this more of just a full-fledged brick? Like one that *should* be composing a wall or foundation?
Wouldn't have happened if he was in a cell where he belonged. Just saying. Leave them in the cells. It's not rocket science.
ps. Ahh, the Red Roof Inn. You guys know what the ADTC-STU is? You know what kind of folks it houses?
I'm not saying it justified the assault. That was obviously wrong. Just, reminding you who you're siding with here.
Several days after the assault, the victim suffered a fatal stroke.
Trust me. Nobody will miss him.

Like I said above, this isn't and shouldn't be a brickbat, just another brick in the wall.
His buddy stopped him and he fought loose and assaulted the guy anyway? He got fired and will never hold a government position ever again? He's doing three years for assault? What exactly is the problem here?
They hate cops, and seize on any opportunity to paint them as the bad guy. Which, is fair in this case, but then puts them on the, "Oh the poor victimized violent sex offender" team.
I doubt they appreciate that kind of thing when they do their write-ups though. Seems like more of a "RAWR ACAB! *gnash teeth*" sort of thing.
One of these days it would be interesting to see a study about trends in punishing law enforcement officers for the crimes they commit while on duty. Although I'm very glad that "Reason" is highlighting not only official crimes but also punishments for those crimes, my impression is that until recently police crimes were swept under the rug by sham internal investigations, police union rules and the incestuous relationship among police departments, prosecutors, mayors and city councils. After the officer who murdered George Floyd was prosecuted, found guilty and punished it seems to me that there are more such examples being published at least. I hope it reflects more officers being charged these days.
After the officer who murdered George Floyd
