Let's examine Biden's innermost feelings: The digital front page of The New York Times this morning leads with a piece titled "How Biden Changed His Mind on Pardoning Hunter."
"The threat of a retribution-focused Trump administration and his son's looming sentencings prompted the president to abandon a promise not to get involved in Hunter Biden's legal problems," reads the subheading—the type of sympathetic portrayal I have a hard time imagining would be extended to Donald Trump if he did something similar.

To back up: On Sunday night, Joe Biden issued a blanket pardon for his son, Hunter, legally letting him off the hook not just for the kinda-silly gun charges of late but for all crimes he may have committed between January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024. ("For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth," wrote Biden, who I don't think intended to be funny, in the statement announcing the pardon. "They'll be fair-minded.")
There are two issues here: The first is that the pardon does not encompass just the stupid charges—lying about drug use when purchasing a gun, a crime libertarians don't really believe should be a crime, and owning a firearm despite being an "unlawful user" of a "controlled substance"—but that it also covers Hunter's influence-peddling business dealings in Ukraine. (He started doing business consulting/serving on the board for the Ukrainian company Burisma in 2014, the date the pardon starts, for keen observers.) The second is that Joe Biden repeatedly lied about this pardon, claiming over and over again that he did not believe anyone, let alone his own son, to be above the law.
Here's a beautiful supercut of both Biden's own words and the fawning media's credulousness:

"It was Hunter Biden's looming sentencings on federal gun and tax charges, scheduled for later this month, that gave Mr. Biden the final push," write sympathetic-seeming Katie Rogers and Glenn Thrush, for The New York Times. "A pardon was one thing he could do for a troubled son, a recovering addict who he felt had been subjected to years of public pain.…Several people close to Mr. Biden said the decision created a conflict between two core identities: the anguished father trying to protect his son, and the president who takes pride in standing on principle."
"Hunter Biden's decision to plead guilty on the tax charges—after a weeklong gun trial in Delaware in June that rehashed the family's darkest days—had further embittered Mr. Biden and several of his family members, who believed that Hunter was targeted only because of his last name. At that time, the anger within the family pushed the idea of a pardon from the notional to the plausible, according to several people familiar with the president's thinking.
It was at that point Mr. Biden, who was, among other things, deeply concerned that the pressure of the trials would push his son into a relapse after years of sobriety, began to realize there might not be any way out beyond issuing a pardon. It appears that there was never serious consideration of anything short of a full pardon, such as a commutation of his sentence, they said."
It's not a stretch to say that mainstream publications would not extend nearly the same amount of understanding and benefit of the doubt to Trump if he did the same. And Biden, who much of the press somehow believes is just a good guy trying his very best, has made a decision that has sacrificed norms and trust in the system for the sake of his screw-up kid. It's all a fitting end to an administration that frequently deceived the American people.
At least now Hunter can focus on his art.
Supreme Court tackles Tennessee law on gender transitions: Tomorrow, the court will hear a challenge to a Tennessee law that bans medical providers from providing puberty blockers, hormone therapy, or surgery for gender-transitioning minors. Crucially, the law allows minors to receive some of those treatments if the underlying condition being treated is not gender dysphoria.
The question the judges are dealing with is "whether the law makes distinctions based on sex," per a Times write-up. "If it does, a demanding form of judicial review—'heightened scrutiny'—kicks in. If it does not, the Tennessee law will almost certainly survive." Interestingly, "the justices refused to consider a question that might have appealed to some of its conservative members: whether parents have a constitutional right to make medical decisions on behalf of their children." In other words, the justices have only chosen to consider the Equal Protection Clause claim.
"If, for example, a State prohibits an adolescent assigned female at birth from receiving testosterone to live as a male, but allows an adolescent assigned male at birth to receive the same treatment, the State has relied on a sex-based classification—and thus must justify its law under heightened scrutiny," writes the U.S. Solicitor General, Elizabeth Prelogar, in the brief before the Court. (The Biden administration has intervened in the case, taking the side of the three families and doctor who are suing the state of Tennessee.)
Scenes from New York: Took my son to the American Museum of Natural History over the holiday and stumbled across this absurdity. It's crazy to me that Paul Ehrlich, whose 1968 work The Population Bomb warned about all the terrible things that would come our way with population growth, isn't seen by literally all people as a total idiot, not to mention a real bummer.

- The Syrian civil war is raging again, after a roughly four-year break in the fighting. "Rebel forces have launched their largest offensive against the Syrian government in years," reports the BBC. "They have captured a swathe of land across the north-west of the country, including most of the second city of Aleppo, after the Syrian military rapidly withdrew its troops. The rebels are now battling the military near the central city of Hama, while the government's key ally Russia is carrying out air strikes against them."

- "SpaceX is in discussions to sell insider shares that could boost the value of Elon Musk's rocket and satellite company to around $350 billion, according to people familiar with the matter," reports Bloomberg. "That would be a significant premium to a previously mulled valuation of $255 billion as reported by Bloomberg News and other media outlets just last month. It would also cement SpaceX's status as the most valuable private startup in the world. SpaceX was last valued at about $210 billion in a tender offer earlier this year."

"How Biden Changed His Mind on Pardoning Hunter."
Lol.
Pres Biden....Does anyone seriously believe Pres Biden even has the mental presence of mind to write out that signing statement that went along with the pardon? LOL.
Picture of Biden signing Hunter’s pardon.
lol. word.
how else can she keep her boy toy out of prison?
Does anybody think he actually changed his mind?
He was going to do it, win or lose, at this time no matter what.
Democrats being stunned are either lying or simply the most moronic idiots on the planet.
No, if he had won, they'd have managed to kill it in the DOJ. That was always what they were banking on. Some sort of slap on the wrist to appear like "No one is above the law" while ignoring the actual influence peddling until Biden ran out his 4 years and the statutes of limitation were far gone.
I don't think Biden is so far gone that he isn't looking out for his kids' interests. He has done this specifically to save Hunter, knowing that by the time any heat falls on him, he will be dead.
I suspect, if he won, he'd have done it because no damage could be done to him regardless.
I had zero doubt he'd pardon his son. "Caring father" is his usual bullshit persona the media have given him.
I think his decision algorithm was:
- influence DOJ to be as lenient as possible (almost got him a sweetheart plea deal, but judge balked) if that fails...
- continue to hope he just gets a slap on the wrist, so he can say he didnt interfere, if that fails...
- if he is going to get jail time, wait until after election (either way) and say fuck it and pardon him as a last resort
He was never going to let justice be served, that was just the convenient narrative costume for the susceptible.
At this point, he really didnt have anything to lose (other than getting dunked on in perpetuity). He couldn't rally America to give a shit about "Justice/Democracy" mostly due to his own party's actions over the last 4 years which showed that they never cared about any of that in the first place, only as a proxy to more power for them.
I also really think Trump may have pardoned him, but Biden didn't want to get cucked by him. It would be a pretty dominant and probably even more embarrassing act from Biden's perspective. "Hey, no hard feelings. I kicked you and Kamalas' asses, the least I can do is pardon your derelict piece of shit son. Maybe keep him away from the coke, whores, and widows for 5 seconds this time? Now run along little tike, GTFO my sight before I reconsider it 😉 "
Trump would just look like a magnanimous baller, and Biden would lose his caring father schtick.
Democrats don't care that Biden pardoned his son but they are making scenes about it now so when trump pardons some J6 people they can scream even more while 'claiming' they were against Biden's pardon of Hunter. its all theater
"its all theater"
Politics have never felt so kayfabe in my entire life, it really approaches WWE levels at times
My only disappointment is Trump didn't have Joe and Mika do a live "kiss my ass" ceremony, a la Vince McMahon
Well, Trump did campaign with Hulk Hogan and had him as the warm up speaker at the RNC.
Actually met Hogan when I was in Florida, we were their in uniform at one of the races during speed week, and he came over, took pictures with us (he offered we didn't even have to ask) and took us down to pit roe and introduced us to his racing team and crew. Pretty much spontaneous, wasn't like his publicist or anything set it up, he just came over and asked us if we wanted to.
Must have been baby face Hogan and not NWO heel Hogan.
1995, so around the time he started with NWO.
What does Biden change the most?
Depends.
The threat of a retribution-focused Trump administration...
What kind of political party would use lawfare against rivals???
It's not like Biden could have pardoned him for all his crimes that he hadn't been convicted of to protect Hunter from future Trump cases, leaving the gun and tax fraud crimes he was convicted of stand.
Then again Biden probably knows from experience, funny things happen to political enemies in jail cells.
Well, might be time to investigate the entire Biden family, since Hunter is not able to refuse to testify.
Joe and his brother Jim are as dirty as the day is long.
The other members of the Biden Crime Family will get their pardons before this is over.
And reminder, it is retribution for going after those who abused government powers. This includes just firing them.

[supercut of talking heads stepping of a rake screeching about "Joe Biden's belief in the rule of law is so great..." ]
Doh. I think this is the same as the article's supercut reference.
Its just nice to put a neat little button on this last 4 years, and this does it perfectly.
After the sanctimonious talk, the party of muh democracy, the show trials, the political imprisonments, the impeachments, the muh fascism, the muh Hitlers...
Anyone with a couple brain cells already wrote these corrupt fuckers off for who they have shown themselves to be. But the blatant, on the nose, committing the directly corrupt act you specifically promised you wouldnt and that made you, supposedly, uniquely representative of muh justice, muh norms, muh democracy....
To just publicly slam dunk all of that right in the trash can for the world to see is...predictably satisfying
Reason staff that STILL voted for Biden after the last four years: I don’t regret any vote I’ve ever made.
The people I am coming to hate are Democrats with more than a couple of functional brain cells who did and still do support all the corrupt statist bullshit committed by their party.
Leftists only believe in power.
clearest examples of this are all the people who just 5 minutes ago were invoking Nazi rallies, Hitler, and fascism along with end of democracy as we know it, to 5 minutes after the election...
"So we had a great weekend at Mar a Lago!"
Its always been power and influence. COVID health concerns? Racial justice concerns? Tranny shit? Its all just a mechanism to wield power and control over the populace.
Jon Stewart addressed the subject on The Daily Show, stating on Monday (2 December): “Motherf***er, we were so close. But you know what? Good, OK, fine, it’s good, it’s right, it’s his right. He’s an 82-year-old man, doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life visiting his son in prison.”
“Republicans get away with this s*** all the time”, adding: “I’m sure the pardon is a narrowly written, precisely drawn farewell note of compassion for a loved one.”
Stewart poked fun at Biden’s statement, in which he said the pardon covered offences his son “has committed or may have committed or taken part in”.
Here, he referenced the many worlds and timelines featured in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), quipping: “I’m surprised Biden didn’t include the phrase ‘on Earth 1 or any of the Earths in the multiverse,’” he said.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/jon-stewart-points-out-republican-detail-that-makes-joe-biden-pardoning-son-hunter-ok/ar-AA1vaJb7
I hope Stewart stretches before he bends over that hard.
Maybe he thinks they’ll let him host the Oscars again with that kind of butt-sharking.
The cowardly Stewart's disclaimer every time he mildly mocks a Democrat: "Mind you, the Republicans are way more evil!"
...not just for the kinda-silly gun charges of late but for all crimes he may have committed between January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024.
I wonder the significance of that time frame.
This is the significance of the passage of time .
And Hunter is now officially unburdened by what has gone before.
Only at the federal level. If he did anything violating state and local laws, then Hunter is not off the hook. Were I a red state attorney general, I’d look into if Hunter violated state laws that he can be indicted for.
And if he refuses to testify, he can't plead the fifth.
If he does testify, and lies, that is perjury.
This is a double win against the Biden crime family. Not only does it show Biden's and all his supporters' hypocrisy, there could be some pretty interesting Congressional hearings and federal trials coming up.
He can take the Fifth....to protect himself from self-incrimination on the state and local laws mentioned in the post you are replying to.
Yes, that's why I said "federal trials".
I'd like some clarification here. I'm pretty sure that Hunter can still plead the 5th in a federal trial because testimony in a federal trial can still incriminate him for state charges.
I'm sure lawyers and judges will have a field day arguing the finer points. It just adds to the circus atmosphere.
Clarification is the last thing any lawyer wants, just as solving problems is the last thing any bureaucrat wants.
Oh Come on...Every time I try to tidy up a question with a nice theoretical answer, you remind me we don't live in a nice theoretical world.
This is the current controlling case.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burdick_v._United_States
State gun and state income tax charges are still on the table - almost guaranteed there's a state-level law against violating federal law when buying a gun and I bet he didn't pay state taxes when he didn't pay his federal.
Califonria is still looking into Hunters taxes but no big deal someone else will pay them for Him
"Califonria (sic) is still looking into Hunter's taxes."
Right. I'm sure they are.
Most of Hunter's proven as well as speculative crimes are federaI. There are some that are also in state jurisdiction - no doubt he didn't pay state income taxes, some states may have laws against possessing a gun while using drugs, and if more comes out about his influence-pedding, it might be possible to bootstrap a falsifying business records charge the same way the NY persecutor did to Trump. But I doubt Hunter was ever in a red or even purple state long enough to establish jurisdiction, and I'd be utterly amazed if any deep blue AG would file charges for any purpose but throwing the case.
You think this pardon just fell out of a coconut tree?
No, a banana tree.
"I wonder the significance of that time frame."
Google "statute of limitations"
If Biden had simply commuted any sentence of the gun and tax evasion charges, I could see it a "father protects son from himself" move. The blanket backdated to Burisma pardon is designed to protect Joe himself, trying to cut off any additional investigation into Joe's own corruption and influence peddling.
But it doesn't cut off those Joe Biden investigations, it opens them up, now that Hunter can no longer plead the fifth against self-incrimination. The pardon was a real 0-d chess move.
But Joe still has the senile old man defense.
Yep, he's screwing over the Obama machine which screwed him over.
But issuing the pardon now is interesting. Why not the usual Jan 19th? Is he planning to resign and hope Kamala pardons him? Does he think he's slipping so fast that he has to act now?
Something fishier is in the works.
Yep.
Hunter’s sentencing was to be in about a week, but who knows what pushed up the timing.
It's fish all the way down...
He pardoned him now because he was to be sentenced before Jan 19th
Many sentences are delayed pending appeals. Most pardons are after some sentence has been served.
"...Does he think he's slipping so fast that he has to act now?..."
You really think that document didn't come directly from Hunter's legal staff?
Heh, maybe so. But then why did they want to rush it? We'll probably never know.
Maybe Hunter told good ol' Dad/Dad's handlers/Puppeteer Jill that if Daddy doesn't pardon me, I'm going to start singing like a canary. Considering he nailed his sister in law before his brother's corpse was even cold, I doubt family loyalty means shit to him unless it benefits him.
...it also covers Hunter's influence-peddling business dealings in Ukraine.
Big Guy, pardon thy self!
He will, or Kamala will.
Do you really think Kamala would do anything helpful to Pres Biden, after he shiv'ed her during the election? Calling half the country human garbage basically guaranteed Kamala's loss.
Do you think death threats are off the table?
He backstabbed her, is it? I suspect he feels differently about being cast out of the nomination.
I think she would.
Elections are a process were people say a bunch of hateful things about each other only to pretend they didn't.
Harris called Biden a racist during a primary, but then served as his VP when Biden won. Once the election is over, it's back to defending the party like they are all buddies.
Illegal immigrants are just here to work and we should never deport then even if criminals - jeffsarc.
There are over 58,000 illegal migrants who are convicted felons or facing criminal charges roaming NYC — and close to 670,000 across the country, startling new data obtained by The Post shows.
Of the 759,218 illegal-border crossers living in the Big Apple the feds were aware of as of Nov. 17, a jaw-dropping 58,626 — 7.7% — were either previously convicted of crimes or had criminal charges pending, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency data.
And of the 58,626 migrants with rap sheets, 1,053, nearly 2%, are “suspected or known gang members,” according to the agency.

They are all cost free and all have jobs. - jeffsarc
As Democratic Denver Mayor Mike Johnston says he would be willing to go to jail over his opposition to the Trump mass-deportation plan, a new study claims the mayor’s Blue city has spent a whopping $356 million of taxpayers' hard-earned money on migrants.
The eye-popping sum, which amounts to $7,900 per foreign national in the city, was revealed by an updated analysis last week by the Common Sense Institut (CSI), a non-partisan research organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the U.S. economy.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/sanctuary-city-denver-spending-whopping-356-million-migrants-study
I'm sure none of that $356 million ended up in Mayor Mike's pockets, or those of his family and friends.
That actually does raise the question of how much money was spent on the migrants themselves, and how much just went in the pockets of whatever rad-left NGOs are involved in the programs.
Do an audit and I suspect it wouldn't look much different than your average "non-profit" activist org where 90% of the money is spent on the organization and not the supposed beneficiaries.
I have long thought that the Democratic humanities majors' push for billions in federal and state funding to "help people" is much more about funding the NGO industrial complex--and their earnest, grasping jobs.
Taxpayer-funded hotel for migrants is owned by Pakistani government
Over the weekend, DOGE co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy drew attention to the barely known fact that New York City is effectively paying the Pakistani government to house criminal aliens.
This has been true since the summer of 2023 when Pakistani Minister of Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique announced that the Pakistani government would be leasing the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan to the administration of NYC Mayor Eric Adams.
“The lease agreement is expected to generate revenues to the tune of around USD 220 million for the Pakistan government,” he said, as reported by The Economic Times. “A contract was signed for 1,250 rooms. The hotel will be returned to the government of Pakistan once the three-year term lease expires.”
https://www.bizpacreview.com/2024/12/03/this-is-nuts-ramaswamy-exposes-taxpayer-funded-hotel-for-migrants-is-owned-by-pakistani-government-1506926/
The agreement involves leasing all 1,025 rooms of the Roosevelt Hotel at $210 per room per night.
To meet the demand for over 14,000 rooms, the city has rented not only the Roosevelt but also more than 100 other hotels. Critics have pointed out that many of these properties are owned by foreign entities, including Air India and the Taj Group.

The pardon:
What you do when you have nothing left to lose but your integrity.
Integrity? Did I say that? Oh, sorry!
You trade whatever might be left of it for your screw up son, and anything else from the past decade or so that might bring you down as well.
And then you rely on the NYT to say it's perfectly all right.
Honestly love it.
Biden spent his life trying to get the presidency, and got in on the promise to end Trump.
Ended up getting in, having a presidency of stagflation that will go down as worse than Carter, doing a shit job that essentially put Trump right back in, got shanked by his own party, and on the way out disgraced his family name even more.
He might get to live out the rest of his life in luxury, but the Machiavellian narcissist in him will have to stew in the disgrace that his presidency he worked his entire life to get will be mocked and derided.
It took real talent to make Carter look good. But, by golly, Biden managed that and more.
"Never underestimate Joe's ability to fuck up."
The one thing I have to agree with Barry on.
Like I said above, Obama may have been mis-quoted. It now looks more like
"Never underestimate Joe's ability to fuck you over."
Much more fitting for a nasty, vindictive old man.
^ this
Biden won't be around too long to enjoy the beach time. His physical decline is pronounced. He is not competent to stand trial, cognitively.
He's also, apparently, trying his damnedest to ignite World War III on his way out. Falsely claiming that Israel violated their ceasefire with Lebanon should be punishable.
Biden or Biden’s handlers? I’m not sure Biden would understand at this point if WW3 started. His handlers on the other hand seem to be directing everything they can towards it.
He's the boss. His head has the sword dangling above it.
He has the option to fire the handlers.
Fuck him.
Yes, if they manage a coup [and I honestly believe any and everything is on some people's table] they may prefer to have it all blown up and irradiated vs a peaceful transition of power.
Mike was pushing this bullshit over the weekend. Same narrative. The facts were the Israeli deployment was still there and the terrorist groups were going into the areas still under control, itself a violation of the agreements. It included heading towards known weapon caches.
He might get to live out the rest of his life in luxury
Sitting in his own shit? You think anyone is going to change his diaper once he has absolutely nothing left to offer?

Tensegrity?

DNC Finance Committee Member questions why so many consultants became millionaires off of donations to Kamala Harris' campaign:
Lindy Li: "There's a lot of conflict of interest here. And we need a careful accounting and probably more granular than the FEC report would offer.
Because if we don't do that, how are voters and donors ever going to trust the Democratic Party again?
When Obama ended in debt in 2012, he left and left the DNC in a terrible position because we had to climb out of debt.
Hillary Clinton cited the 2012 Obama debt as a reason why she lost because initially her campaign was at disadvantage.
There is no reason why consultants became overnight millionaires through the campaign. It was no there's no justification for that.
They need they deserve answers as to why these people became millionaires. Multimillionaires.
That campaign was supposed to be spent on battleground states making the economic case to Americans, explaining bread and butter issues, explaining how she would bring inflation down, not on lining the pockets of well-connected Democrats."
The only people to do well financially during the Biden Harris regime were 'well connected Democrats' scamming the American people.
John Hasson
@SonofHas
This is incredible
Liberal podcasters and influencers are claiming that Dems can only win if the podcasters/influencers get year-round funding from donors
They cashed in on the Kamala gravy train and now they don’t want to give it up
https://x.com/SonofHas/status/1862518913491197976
Is there anything aligned with the Democratic party at this point that isn't a complete grift?
Of course not. Marxism is a religious movement that's absolutely ripe for such things, because you can demand "just compensation" for ensuring the revolution advances. You don't even need to produce anything of actual value, just be a political activist.
Great racket as long as there's no consequences to endless money printing.
It's amusing watching "Never Trump principled conservatives" morphing into "bog standard Democrats on every topic" so quickly and easily.
They don't get it.
Trump didn't pay for content creators. He and JD picked creators who were wildly popular already and offered them a chance to garner a record breaking audience.
In exchange they got 20 - 30 hours to show that they weren't Literally Hitler and the accusations were lies, because a three hour conversation can't be faked.
I thought better of Bezos and Fetterman when I watched their sitdowns with Rogan too. I realized that Bezos was just an awkward nerd who got lucky and is desperate to be liked, and that Fetterman actually did care about the proles, even if the DNC still holds his leash.
...and when Kamala appeared on, say, at sex podcast or Shannon Sharpe's shit podcast --- viewership numbers were not appreciably increased.
They HAD to pay people to want to be in the same room as the charisma suck known as Kamala.
Damn guys, this gift just keeps on giving!
"charisma suck known as Kamala"
She was sucking a little more than charisma when she first entered politics. In fact sucking was apparently her charisma generator. Maybe she should have sucked harder this time.
There is no reason why consultants became overnight millionaires through the campaign. It was no there's no justification for that
Sure there is, they obviously gave solid advice.
LOL
Judge in Michigan also approved a subpoena for partial records from ActBlue r/t questionable donations.
So that judge is about to "commit suicide"?
Yeah, a John Dutton suicide.
Corporate media: Obviously Biden would never pardon Hunter
That was way back when we were at the "It's not happening" stage.
I think we're close to skipping over the "It's happening but it's not that bad" stage right to the "It's happening and it's actually a good thing" stage.
It seems to have become "He did and it's all Trump's fault" now.
Which is odd given Trump was not in the political picture at all in 2014, which the pardon covers.
Or a new stage:
It's happening, and it's exactly as nasty, corrupt, and partisan as you say, but we actually don't give a shit what you think.
"...but we actually don't give a shit what you think."
That would be a level of honesty we will never see.
Still waiting for M4E to show up, as soon as he gets his gaslighting talking points straight. More likely just hoping it all blows over. Only bitter people want to discuss day old news.
“That will never happen, and when it does, boy will you [homophobes, transphobes, racists, sexists, whatever] deserve it.”

"We are not the same"
BREAKING: For the first time ever, Taylor Lorenz correct about something. Film at 11.
Taylor Lorentz...Pffft. She's a schlub in shnooks clothing.
The bitch admitted to being 50 years old. Imagine your parents at 50 doing that lame-ass "how do you do, fellow kids" act she's been pulling for the last several years.
A Gen X groomer for leftist ideology = Lorenz
I admire Liz' ability to pull something more superficial out of that. What I got is that Taylor Lorenz is a bitter, salty cunt who's upset that nobody else will fund the retarded pageantry she requires around her book signing that nobody else does.
I kinda want to find a/the disgruntled barista at wherever it's happening, give them a bowl full of brown M&Ms, and pay them $100 to surreptitiously and individually lick and throw them at Lorenz.
https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/12/02/hunter-bidens-pardon-is-the-death-rattle-of-the-elites/
And just like that, the virtuous come crashing back down to Earth. For months, US president Joe Biden said he would not pardon his son, Hunter. We the high-minded do not play such low games, he said. We respect juries. We respect the law of the land. Look how different we are to Donald Trump, how so much more morally spotless, cried the Dems’ acolytes in the legacy media. Where Trump handed out pardons like candy to his crooked associates, we the righteous few, the ‘adults in the room’, would never dream of exonerating bent friends at the expense of the integrity of the republic. We are better than that, they said. Over and over and over.
In so spectacularly breaking his own promise, in spending his last few weeks in this decaying administration issuing emperor-like decrees of liberty to his own kin, he has shattered the moral pretensions of his presidency, his party and arguably his entire class.
Meanwhile, the media elites are scurrying about for an explanation as to why Biden has now done the thing that they praised him for not doing. The toughest thing they’ll have to deal with is the fact that Biden’s lambasting of the supposed lawfare against his son makes him sound an awful lot like… Trump. You could sense the pain and bewilderment in the words of a BBC reporter who seemed shook that Biden appears to be engaging in Trumpist ‘rail[ing] against America’s system of justice’.
But will he respect the constitution in the morning?
Let’s ask Sarc.
The biggest difference about Trump compared to all other politicians is his openness and transparency. It's not his honesty, his intellectual prowess. It's that he says what he means (at least at the moment) and means what he says. That is why ordinary people voted for him. It is why the elites and wannabes voted against him.
This pardon shows that clear as day. It sums up everything wrong with the elites, both left and right, but mostly left right now. This pardon has soiled Biden's diapers for eternity. Just as Andrew Johnson is most remember for his impeachment, so Joe Biden will be remembered for his about-face on pardoning his corrupt son.
He destroyed every talking head's credibility. There is nothing they can say about anything Trump does which can't be rebutted with "why should anyone believe you after you claimed Biden stood for rule of law?"
I am extremely grateful for this pardon. I am extremely eager to watch Hunter having to testify at the hearings and trials over the next four years, both federal and state.
I guess I’m so much more forgiving about the pardon because it would have political suicide to say otherwise. It never mattered if it was the truth or not, he had to answer “no” any time he was asked about the pardon.
The fact that it turned out to be a lie doesn’t really matter when it was the only answer he was allowed to give.
It does matter since the media used it to claim a difference between Dems and Trump. As always happens when the basis for their conclusions is proven false they simply move on without a correction. But the sense of superiority remains.
This is why propaganda works.
Meh. Never underestimate the cognitive dissonance inherent in those with devout faith. Democrats who even bother to ponder Biden's moral inconsistencies and lies will ultimately elevate them as holy mysteries--and emerge with stronger belief.
The only "high-minded" Biden, is Hunter on a bender.
Pivot to Nevada?
Musk already pivoted to Texas. Both Tesla and SpaceX are now incorporated there.
Musk has his battery gigafactory in Nevada. Might be easier to move the car factory there than Texas.
No need to move any operations. He didn't have any in DE to speak of. It's all about which state has low corporate taxes and regulatory policy.
A pardon was one thing he could do for a troubled son...
I wonder how much his troubled son will have to kick back to him for this one thing. Seems like it would be worth more than ten percent.
The joy of watching those who unceremoniously pushed you out of office scramble to fix the narrative; priceless.
Somethings in life have no price, for everything else there's Mastercard.
I wonder how much his troubled son will have to kick back to him
Time to start harvesting organs.
10%, of course.
You'd think giving his son a career given his utter lack of competence and abysmal character would be sufficient.
There are two issues here:
Actually, there are 3. The popular 3rd, omitted, narrative is that now that Hunter cannot be convicted of anything 2014-2024, he cannot plead the 5th. If an investigation into 'The Big Guy' is initiated now, or in 2025, he can be subpeonaed and found in contempt for refusing to testify.
It would certainly be a bit of slimy, lawfare but not exactly a novel legal construction.
You know who was AG in 2014? Yeah, Eric Holder the wingman for Pres Obama.
I could see compelled testimony and a potential Contempt of Congress charge for Eric Holder. Could be prison time for contempt of congress, that precedent is set.
Better get a good lawyer, Eric.
Not for Dems, given that a DC grand jury has to issue the indictment. Might be time to randomize which federal district gets these cases to insure potential equal treatment.
I believe they can empanel a grand jury anywhere they would just have to hold the trial where the crime was committed. If the goal is to expose the graft I agree don't hold them in DC.
I hope they do try to bring up Eric Holder because its going to be political poison to keep going back in time to events from 2014 in 2025 and have hearings over any of this old shit. NOBODY IS GOING TO CARE except rabid partisans so politically it would be a stupid move looking ahead to the 2026midterms.
Because its so stupid, I fully expect the house GOP in particular to pursue it.
It will seem petty and an unwise use of Congressional resources just for Holder to assert executive privilege or some other crap and tie it up into courts until the end of Trump's term. There are pressing matters that need addressed here and around the world and the GOP going on a revenge tour of the last 8+years of never ending hearings resulting in nothing significant happening will politically backfire. SO PLEASE DO IT
^useful partisan idiot alert.
One aspect of the pardon now makes it possible to call Hunter in front of a committee and testify under oath with no 5A privilege. He no longer faces a legal threat for federal crimes. Team R might as well compel congressional testimony and get the truth out, for future generations.
The bar for congressional lawmaking interest is pretty low, so that isn't really a hurdle....more like a speed bump.

It feels like a Last Days of Rome vibe has gripped Biden’s White House. One envisions Jill still stomping the halls in fury over Kamala’s betrayal. And officials muttering bitterly about Nancy Pelosi’s Brutus-style wielding of the knife against Joe. All while Joe busies himself with freeing his fallen son from the very justice Joe claims to love. This is what happens when an elite becomes ever more estranged from the people: it starts to rule by itself and for itself. Rarely has the moral exhaustion of a government been on such frank and grim display.
Beware the ides of December, when Jilted Joe might give us all an early Christmas goose in someplace like Ukraine (more specifically, some USAF-delivered munitions landing just across the border in Russia).

A new regulatory coup in the UK could give London regulators the power interfere at the level of product design and to stop any tech acquisition, anywhere, for basically any reason they want. More:
• A newly minted UK regulator will soon be handed a raft of sweeping powers that will allow it to subject American tech companies to aggressive legal interventions
• A new “ex-ante” framework means US tech companies will be forced to work with regulators at the level of product design
• Companies face fines of up to 10% of global revenue for violations and up to 5% of global revenue for failing to cooperate with investigations (potentially on top of similarly large fines levied by the EU)
• The new laws allow the UK government to compel businesses and individuals abroad to produce information, including testimony and documentation, even in cases where (a) the deal is not primarily UK-related (b) the individuals in question are not UK nationals or residents and (c) the relevant documents are stored outside the UK

Still not tariffs.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague will begin consideration Monday of a host of proposed penalties the U.N. can implement against countries that defy diktats on protecting the environment.
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2024/11/29/scared-yet-u-n-court-to-decide-penalties-for-countries-that-defy-climate-diktats/
As I used to say about Disney extending their Mickey Mouse copyrights, those fences work two ways: not only do they lock out competitors, they also locked Disney into repeating the same tired tropes.
The EU is going to find their industry even more feeble and powerless. They think they can tell the rest of the world how to behave. They'll find out the rest of the world will sell them only cheaply-made expensively-priced old-generation crap because their special little market is not worth the extra effort.
Might be time to revisit NATO and our entire ties to the continent of Europe outside of a few countries.
We do not need close ties to fascists. And Europe is HAPPILY jumping into fascism. The UK, in particular, needs to be dealt with as it is little better than Russia at this point. Just a bit less competent and less supportive of their own citizenry.
Anyone know if there is any shipment of British Tea in Boston Harbor? Asking for a friend.
Damn, looks like it time to dust off the whig's, waistcoats, Tricorne and pantaloons, and grease your musket/fowling piece/long rifle. Thought we settled this in 1783 and again in 1815.
But they took over again in 1913.
Definitely by at least 1917. Ignoring the British breaking the cruiser laws by the blockade (a far blockade as opposed to a close blockade) and disguising warships as merchant ships to sink subs, pretty much assuring that the German captains would have to not follow the cruiser laws, was pretty much Wilson doing Britain bidding for them. Also, ignoring their shipping of munitions on civilian passenger liners, while criticizing the German navy for not following the cruiser rules and targeting passenger ships again was Wilson doing the British job for them.
...whether parents have a constitutional right to make medical decisions on behalf of their children.
There was a time when I would have said yes, having no clue how many clout chasing nutjobs would allow the medical industrial complex to mutilate their offspring.
It depends on how you define "medical decision". I hate the word "spectrum" but it feels like it fits here. Where do you put refusing ADHD meds on the line? circumcision? foot binding? refusing HPV vaccine? cutting his balls off so he can enter the almighty inner circle of the tranny cult?
Permanent harm for no medical benefit. It is pretty simple.
Would you consider circumcision permanent harm? And no, before you start there is no medical benefit in the modern western world.
No. It doesn't cause long term health detriment at all and has a proven medical benefit against things like STDs. There actually is a benefit.
It is akin to cutting hair as far as detriment.
What are the medical benefits of circumcision?
The possible medical benefits of circumcision include:
A lower risk of HIV and some other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
A slightly lower risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) during the first year of life and penile cancer later in life. However, these conditions are rare in all males (circumcised or not).
Prevention of certain penile problems, such as foreskin infections and phimosis, a condition in which the foreskin can't be retracted (pulled back).
Easier hygiene.
And more: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3684945/
Meanwhile there are numerous issues with hormone therapies.
I'll take slightly higher risk of infection over loss of sensation and sexual function. It's natural "lubrication". There is medical harm. This is exaggeration, but it is like cutting off all of your toes to prevent you from ever getting an ingrown nail. Not worth it. Not to mention the risk of botching the procedure.
Lol. You do you. There has been no proven sensitivity angle outside of anti circumcision propaganda.
Was going to mention that the loss of sensitivity is hypothetical and not supported by any evidence. Unless you were circumcised after losing your virginity, it would be hard to empirically prove and even then, you have the question of any loss of sensation being completely psychosomatic. Furthermore, sensitivity is completely subjective and dependent on a lot of different factors (such as how long it's been since the last time you had sex or masturbated, as this can change your perception for some very well documented physiological reasons).
There's a pretty solid case that age, CV health, and testosterone levels are far, FAR, FAR! more predictive of sensitivity/responsiveness than the presence/absence of foreskin.
But again, Randy "Shit for brains" Sax, doesn't want to deal in self-evident truths. He wants to perpetuate obvious lies in order to help subjugate the stupid and vex those whose senses are acute enough to identify his retarded bullshit miles away.
I'll take slightly higher risk of infection over loss of sensation and sexual function.
You sound more and more like an "openly gay, closeted progressive" libertarian every day.
You don't care what the facts and the data say against you and, just like sarcasmic, chemtard, or mtrueman, you'll spout abject, unsubstantiated, and even nonsensical bullshit in order to *appear* equivalent. Even in defense of injecting people, children, with experimental and known-harmful drugs as policy.
Cut dicks are better for gay sex.
Does Chase Oliver know?
Undoubtedly.
American women: Circumcision is cruel.
Also American Women: Uncircimcised penises are gross.
Yeah Randy, perhaps you prefer uncircumcised dicks, but American women do not, and that's what matters to actual men.
Yeah, good luck getting blow jobs with a stinky foreskin.
There's a difference between medical necessity which the wokies just don't get. Parents don't get to push their kid off the roof for identifying as Superman. They don't get to amputate an arm so he can audition for a Fugitive remake.
And teachers don't get to mutilate kids' genitals.
Teachers also lack any semblance of liability for what they do to the kids. Teachers whose asinine advice leads to kids committing suicide do not get penalized for doing so.
I may as well dump my standard LGBTQWERTY rant.
==================
It used to be dogma that African tribal female genital mutilation was the scourge of the earth, an unimaginable evil.
https://reason.com/2009/11/30/one-last-minaret-swiss-voters/
... In Sweden, a proposal by the integration minister (herself an immigrant) to check all girls for evidence of female genital mutilation. ...
Nowadays, the absence of female genital mutilation would be the horror.
It used to be dogma that homosexuality was genetically determined, not a choice, not something that could be reversed. This was the basis for banning gay conversion therapy.
It used to be dogma that chemical castration was too evil for even voluntary use by convicted rapists and pedophiles.
Now it's dogma that it is woke teachers' duty to "encourage" their kindergarten kids to want to change their gender with puberty blockers, chemical castration, and gender mutilation surgery, all without the parents' knowledge. Washington and California have actually made it illegal child abuse for parents to stop their children's "gender affirmation" surgery and will take their children away.
It is no more moral to "affirm" children's gender confusion with genital mutilation surgery and chemical castration than it is to "affirm" their infatuation with Superman by pushing them off a roof, amputating an arm to "affirm" their fascination with "The Fugitive", or giving them a Tommy gun to "affirm" their infatuation with Bonny and Clyde.
It used to be dogma that women needed their own sports leagues and events, with equal support as men's leagues and events.
Now it's dogma that third-rate male athletes can identify as women and enter and dominate women's events.
Why do so many drag queens feel the need to read to kids, especially while dressed up as oversexualized parodies of women? I have never heard of any strippers demanding performances with kids, or straight women dressed like drag queens.
You can be neutral about Hawaiian pizza, Democrat vs Republican, even abortion. You cannot be neutral about child abuse. When the state threatens to jail parents who misgender their children or do not affirm their 57 gender fluidenty of the week with child mutilation surgery or puberty blockers, refusing to condemn that is child abuse.
"Why do so many drag queens feel the need to read to kids, especially while dressed up as oversexualized parodies of women? I have never heard of any strippers demanding performances with kids, or straight women dressed like drag queens."
It's always the most oversexualized whore outfit possible too. They don't show up in Mrs. Doubtfire outfit, or a ponytail, mom jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt.
It's always stilettos, fishnet stockings, micro-miniskirt and Divine-style makeup.
And it's never seniors, or the handicapped, or illiterate vagrants at the homeless shelter they want to read to, it's always, always kids.
Mind you...Reason has never once seen a problem with this. Only with the criticism of it.
It's odd that women and men are able to dress appropriately around children. Only drag queens and trannies are, seemingly, incapable of doing it.
Again, if you've been around any sort of youth organization that's even second or third-hand affiliated with, e.g., scouts or The Catholic or even other churches, this is straight down the punch card, "We're putting on a clinic can everyone see the examples?", grooming behavior.
And it isn't/wasn't a bunch of Scoutmasters and Deacons sitting around inventing the term "grooming" and the stereotypes of Drag Queens and trannies in order to single them out and demonize them that came up with this. It was the actual victims of sexual abuse, investigators, their parents, and even the abusers themselves (some, but not all of whom were closeted transvestites) all of whom agreed that abusing children is bad and this is the pattern(s) by which it happens.
If a parent claims that their 6 year-old child has body dysmorphia and needs to have an arm amputated, and some doctor agrees, is that something we’re going to unquestioningly support of something we’re going to try to prevent.
A few months ago, someone (I don't think I need to name them) here made the response:
I don’t think “we” should be actively supporting or “we” should be actively preventing anything. I think that “we” should instead make sure that:
– the child has a proper diagnosis, perhaps evaluated by a few doctors
– the proposed standard of care meets some rigorous medically sound standard
– all parties are very clearly informed and all very clearly consent
And then let the parents make the decision that they think is in the child’s best interests.
Now if *you* want to give your unsolicited advice to the parents, you are free to do so. If you want to propose your own alternative treatments, including the option of no treatment at all, you are free to do so.
Incidentally, I think this is exactly how it should work whenever parents are faced with a tough and difficult decision regarding their children. “We” should butt out and let the family have space to deal with their situation in their own way.
Trust the experts? Fuck that. "We" should butt in to prevent intentional harm to a child. That some "doctor" has approved it is not an excuse to stand by and allow a child to be harmed. The parents can sue us later if they think we were wrong.
Having MD or PhD after one's name is no indication of moral uprightness, honesty, or decent motivations.
Some folks here have said it has to be okay to allow parents and doctors to agree to amputate an arm or leg of a child, esp. if the child says it needs to be cut off.
They aren't making a medical decision. I've said this before. They're electing to toss virgins into a volcano, convincing the virgins it's for the good of the tribe, and having a shaman, witch-doctor preside over and sanctify the whole thing.
Again, we went to war with The Mormons along lines that very much parallel these issues. We *still* have laws on the books that get leaders tossed out of office and public servants fired for engaging, with adults, in the specter of the practice they engaged in with children. The "there's nothing the State can do to interfere with parenting to protect children" has been over the horizon for 50, if not 100, years.
"Parliament just voted to legalize assisted suicide for people with six or less [months] left to live."
Presumed missing word in bold.
Lives.
Cat ladies with 2/3 of one cat left need to learn to sleep with one eye open.
It's crazy to me that Paul Ehrlich, whose 1968 work The Population Bomb warned about all the terrible things that would come our way with population growth, isn't seen by literally all people as a total idiot, not to mention a real bummer.
I would have settled for Bill Gates not being an acolyte.
Bill Gates' dad was on the board of Planned Parenthood while he was growing up. Eugenics and population control is his family history.
At least Russian oligarchs sound more fun.
"The threat of a retribution-focused Trump administration and his son's looming sentencings prompted the president to abandon a promise not to get involved in Hunter Biden's legal problems,"
Two words: Kash Patel.
His nomination has caused the clenched butt cheeks at FBI headquarters to tremble like those at a twerk-off. Watch Biden also pardon Chris Wray and Comey for unnamed reasons in the next month and a bit. Vindman, Jack Smith, Cheney and Schiff too.
I forgot to mention Eric Holder, Garland, and Mayorkas.
You get a pardon! And you get a pardon! And you get a pardon!
It’s like the fucking Oprah show. Just remember each of those pardons comes with a fifth amendment catch and do not protect the individual from any state or local laws violated.
Whether Trump and Kash plow it all under or Joe salts the Earth on his way out... [fingers crossed].
This might necessitate Joe having a little health moment. That would protect us from any senile December surprises, and let Kammy play Fearless Leader for a month.
IT'S STARTING!
JUST IN: MSNBC is now calling for Joe Biden to issue “PREEMPTIVE PARDONS” for HIMSELF, saying “he will need a pardon!”
DARN RIGHT HE WILL!
They also said Biden should pardon Jack Smith and his associates, because they KNOW they’re in some deep crap.
They’re in FULL ON damage control mode now!
For a side always screaming about norms, they sure do break norms all the time. And blame Trump for it. But hey, it works on idiots like sarc.
Everything works on Sarc, as long as it isn't coming from the folks on his enemies list.
People like sarc are just looking for an excuse to support the team, they aren't actually exercising independent judgement. So it doesn't matter how obviously false their claims are.
This is the problem with lawyers: we taught them it is acceptable to argue things we all know are not true and this acceptance has leached into politics.
This is a travesty for people who are concerned about preserving a culture of life,
Maybe, but watching my grandfather slowly die from Alzheimers wasn't a homage to life, either. Certainly don't want that fate for myself and if the time comes when my mental faculties go, I want the option available.
How will you know? Your faculties to make that decision will be gone. Your significant other, or children, or a perfect stranger will be making that decision for you.
No idea, when the time comes maybe I notice and maybe I don't. But yeah I've expressed this with the family and have a DNR in place (not the same but you know). I have trust in my family to make that decision, and would like for them to be able to make the decision if the time came with little to no interference from my government.
The problem seems to be that a lot of countries, the government is still interfering, just now they are pushing you (and even using the courts to force you, even if you changed your mind) into it.
How will you know?
That's what I've always wondered. I don't want to be that guy who lost all his marbles, but if I don't know I've lost them, how could I care?
What if you do know and you are trapped in a nightmare?
In this hypothetical scenario, what color is my skin?
Probably grey.
The problem is that this is very dangerous territory to tread, particularly when the government is footing the bill for medical treatment. At some point "ending suffering" morphs into "cost cutting."
If we're going to do this, we need to be VERY careful about what limitations we have in place to terminate a life.
This is never a concern when we send young men off to war.
"At some point "ending suffering" morphs into "cost cutting.""
See: the Canadian veteran who kept getting delayed on getting her new wheelchair, to the point someone from the healthcare admin just skipped right to essentially 'you sound depressed, have you considered dying?'
The feature for the global-homo elite. Not a bug.
I'm against socialized medicine and I agree euthanization shouldn't be done willy nilly but I also don't want to end up like Terri Shiavio having a sitting president and congress getting involved in my medical decisions.
Isn't the sitting president Terri Shiavo?
Lol, yes.
Brings up another reason, I don't want my family propping me up as the leader of the free world when I can't even make it a day without shitting myself.
Probably mostly sharting, and I would think the President of the USA would be able to get his hands on military grade diapers. Whether dr jill changes them or not is another story
But don't you always have that option? Can't you jump off a building or shoot yourself anytime you want?
What doesn't assist your suicide only makes you stronger, except bears. Bears will assist your suicide.
Even if they pop out of trunks?
Sure, but I'd prefer not having some first responder cleanup the mess.
Someone is going to have to clean up the mess regardless. Don't know why a nurse is preferrable to a first responder, personally.
I had to make the decision to pull the plug on my mother a few months ago (sepsis infection twice inside of two weeks from a wound that would not heal) so I can empathize with it being a shitty decision to make.
Just a personal judgment call, I'd rather have to roll a body onto a gurney, then scoop up grey matter and also put the body on the gurney.
And sorry about your mom. I too can sympathize, about 10 years had to put my mom into at home hospice care after two years of a hard fought battle against cancer.
My mom was hardly a surprise. A recluse hoarding cat lady (i LOATHE cats because of her, to be honest) who I doubted would survive a year after her retirement. Suffered some abdominal blockage that perforated her intestines which led to all kinds of septic loveliness. Two weeks later, they perforated again. Doc said he is not sure he can stabilize her enough to even survive the day and I said he did as much as anybody can do and it is time to let nature take its course.
Sitting with her while she died, I admit, was a brutal experience. Made a living will for myself the next day to prevent my son from living thru that.
"...Made a living will for myself the next day to prevent my son from living thru that."
^ + many.
I have always thought the libertarian position is that suicide should be a legal option to be exercised due to the right of bodily self-autonomy.
Since when did it being a threat to the "culture of life" become a libertarian principle?
I think the "culture of life" thing is just Liz's personal attitude. Which is fair if that's what she choses to believe.
Since when did it being a threat to the "culture of life" become a libertarian principle?
Since the paleocons took over the libertarian movement.
Poor Jeff.
I think his ice cream delivery is late this morning.
I agree. But it gets complicated when medical services are controlled by the government.
Nobody is trying to block suicide.
We're trying to block involving OTHERS to murder you (which, even if you approve, does not remotely qualify as suicide). You want to buy the gun and pull the trigger into your mouth, go ahead. Wish you would not and it is a bad idea, but it is your right to make a bad decision.
Because the negatives of THAT dwarf any perceived positives.
That's a tough one. By the time it's really obvious that someone has lost it with dementia, it's usually pretty hard to get real informed consent.
Which is shit because Medicaid and Medicare insists they have a right to refuse their medications (even if it harms them) and refuses to ask for help with transfers (despite them being a danger to themselves) and refuse to eat or drink but then will write the facility up quicker than shit for the dementia resident falling (and refuse to pay for any injury they sustain), write you up for the skin tears (again, also refuse to pay for the treatment of aforementioned skin tears), write you up for them not getting their medications and write you up for them becoming dehydrated and malnourished (and refuse to pay for the treatment required for that). Really, Medicaid and Medicare already look for any reason not to pay (and unfortunately it's what most elderly patients have for health insurance), do we really want to give them another option? Also, this is why private pay or if you have another health insurance, long term care is so fucking expensive.
Note: not saying we should be able to force feed, tie you up or anything but the bullshit lie that they sell that every fall, skin tear, bruise etc is preventable is pure bullshit. It was created by a nurses with MSN, who have never worked with patients/residents except during their brief clinicals as undergrads, who largely now work for Medicare/Medicaid as compliance nurses or work for private insurers. And any facility that tells you they have had no falls or skin tears or bruises is very likely (like 99.9% chance) they are lying or doctoring their paperwork. If they tell you they have had no falls, find a different place to place your loved one. Because that place is lying through its teeth or doing something shady when you're not around.
Even a very small number, like say one fall a year or something should cause you to be extremely skeptical. No, more likely they had one fall that caused significant enough injuries they couldn't hide it.
So that you can potentially have a doctor off you, you are willing to open up assisted suicide as a cost saving measure to public health services. Look at what has happened in Canada, where assisted suicide is now the leading cause of death.
Surprising no one at all, Hezball-less has violated the ceasefire multiple times in the last 24 hours with mortar fire and missile launches into Israel. Israel will now retaliate for the ceasefire violations.
Too bad Lebanon didn't learn the lesson. They have an uninvited guest making a huge mess in their home. It is time to ask the guest to leave. If Lebanon cannot or will not address their guest, Beirut comes into the crosshairs.
I read this in the NYT morning brief this morning; the Old Grey Hag is nothing if not consistent in defending their team. I can picture liberals everywhere taking comfort over this while sipping morning cup of matcha, or whatever the hell it is they drink nowadays.
Several people close to Mr. Biden said the decision created a conflict between two core identities: the anguished father trying to protect his son, and the president who takes pride in standing on principle."
Weird. Same lie sarc tells. Standing on principle. Family of addicts. Pathological.
It's crazy to me that Paul Ehrlich, whose 1968 work The Population Bomb warned about all the terrible things that would come our way with population growth, isn't seen by literally all people as a total idiot, not to mention a real bummer.
Liz,
You're a jurinalist in the post-truth era, with great power comes great responsibility. Ehrlich's work is documented in a museum the same way you would find Nostradamus' work documented in a history museum or Blue Öyster Cult's Godzilla in any self-respecting rock anthology.
Not even BOC's best work. Sole Survivor, Veteran of the Physic Wars
I know it barely qualifies as BOC and is not without controversy, but I really like Imaginos. As a kid I was compelled to buy it as one of my first CDs, because I read the track listing and just had to hear what "The Siege and Investiture of Baron von Frankenstein's Castle at Weisseria" sounded like and knew I would never hear it on the radio.
Fun fact, the lyrics to Veteran of the Psychic Wars were written by none other than Michael Moorcock, the great pulp sci-fi writer. Love that track.
Include Mann.
Michael E. Mann is one of the few people out there who can make Ehrlich look good. The Mann is a major asshole on par with Jeffy.
How about Krugman?
Krugman is another one of those dipshits. That said, I’ve had personal experience dealing with Mann.
I can't read the plaque, even on a large screen monitor. Perhaps someone (writer, editor) should have provided a transcription.

Edit: I guess the issue could be contrast or vision related rather than resolution-
In pushing other species
to extinction,
humanity is busy
sawing off the limb
on which it is perched.
Personally, as indicated,
"History shows again and again how nature points out the follies of man." is way more epic.
And for all the supposedly informed doom-saying, here we sit, more well-off than ever.
Most often the number of animals going extinct (x number every day or such) is pure bullshit. What they don't tell you is that the vast majority (like 99.99999%) are insects they hypothesize might exist but they haven't proven they exist yet.
Another thing they love to do is classify a subspecies or a population within a certain geographical region a separate species, when it's there is little other evidence to support speciation. And then list the new "species" as threatened or endangered. Or better yet, a newly discovered but poorly studied species is suddenly listed as threatened, endangered etc. There's quite a bit of this sort of shit in the conservation sciences and the animal rights/environmentalists world.

I see what you did there.

It's okay. I'm protesting for social justice when I bareback the O2.
"Raw-dogging" I had to look that up:
"Raw dogging" is slang that originally meant having unprotected sex, but has recently evolved to describe doing something without any preparation, distractions, or "buffers," often used in the context of enduring a long flight without entertainment, just staring at the flight map, essentially "going bare" through the experience.
The pandemic virtue is just too sweet to give up on that easily.

"The threat of a retribution-focused Trump administration
These fucking people and their bullshit narratives. Trump already said that he and Joe had talked about Trump possibly pardoning Hunter himself when they met up after the election. Dr. Jill and his idiot offspring probably talked him into doing it himself so Trump couldn't take the credity for being magnanimous.
The only people who have to actually worry about "retribution" here are the FBI and CIA glowie scumbags, and maybe Alvin Bragg and Letitia James since Trump now has the door wide open for him to pardon himself for an indefinite period of time. Everyone else he doesn't really give enough of a shit about to bother, unless it's the Howdy Doody-looking fuckhead mayor of Denver if he decides to use the population of Federal Boulevard as human shields to prevent violent immigrants from being deported.
"to use the population of Federal Boulevard as human shields to prevent violent immigrants from being deported."
Its a stupid hill to die on, but if they insist...
Trump already said that he and Joe had talked about Trump possibly pardoning Hunter himself when they met up after the election.
Where did you get that? Because last I checked Trump called the pardon "a miscarriage of justice." That doesn't seem like the response that someone who was planning to do the pardon himself would say.
Trump Reveals Whether He'd Consider Pardoning Hunter Biden
He was going to pardon Hunter of the gun and tax charges. Not extend it back to 2014 (when Hunter started with Burisma) like Joe just did. Joe just gave himself a get-out-of-jail card by taking it back to then.
Incidentally Trump's first impeachment was about precisely this.
FTA: "I wouldn't take it off the books,"
That's not a promise to give Hunter a pardon. If anything it's politician-speak for "Hell no."
You really are broken, aren’t you?
From the article,
"Former President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he would consider pardoning Hunter Biden if he wins the 2024 election.""
Reading the first sentence and then ignoring what Trump actually said isn't clever, despite what the grey boxes might think.
Bring my mom into this?
You are a fucking idiot, and everybody knows that.
Read the quote again dumbass, it is what Trump said. How is presenting a quote of what he said ignoring what he said?
Besides, you think Trump lies every time he opens his mouth. Why are you trying to hang on to his words if you don't believe them.
I read the quote, dumbass. He said "I wouldn't take it off the books," dumbass. That is not a definitive answer, dumbass. Dumbass.
But it’s not a definitive “no” either, dipshit.
Hint's that he would.
Sarckles: "THAT'S NOT A DIFINITIVE YES SO YOU LIEDD!!!!!"
Do you get the red nose for free with the big floppy shoes?
“Bring my mom into this?”
So now sarc’s getting caught editing his posts after talking shit and getting caught regularly.
What else would the sites biggest hypocrite do? He has nothing intelligent to offer. So he has to pretend he has principles, he doesn't.
Apparently so. Doesn’t surprise me though. He once challenged someone here to a fight.
Multiple people lol. Then tried threatening a doxxing.
Ah I see you edited "my mom" to "grey boxes".
That's because Trump's Deranged Supporters don't have mothers.
They reproduce by fission, like other bacteria.
Ideas™ !, not people.
I'm not a Trump supporter. Don't really like him. So again you are wrong.
In jeffsarc land, challenging them in any way makes you a trump supporter.
Yes, but you disagreed with the Democrats, so in Sarcs mind...
You deranged cowardly dishonest dipshit.
You could have just said "Democrat".
Note how quick sarc is to call Trump a liar but still refuses to call Joe Biden one or even criticize the pardon. Lol.
Sarc swears he's totally not a Democrat though.
Yep, just ask the little drunk fucker. So totes not a jackass even though he supports them at every turn here.
Yep.
https://www.axios.com/2024/10/24/trump-hunter-biden-pardon
Former President Trump indicated he'd consider pardoning Hunter Biden if he's reelected during an interview that aired Thursday with conservative radio show host Hugh Hewitt.
As part of his response about pardoning Hunter Biden, Trump referenced former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's alleged misuse of a private email server for sensitive information.
"I could have gotten Hillary Clinton very easily," Trump said.
"I could have had her put in jail," he said, referencing the "lock her up" chants of his 2016 presidential campaign.
"I decided I didn't want to do that. I thought it would look terrible," Trump added.
Could it have to do with the 11 year backdating part, as opposed to just pardoning the gun and drug charges?
Try to keep up, sarc.
It’s not the silly gun and tax charges which are the miscarriage of justice, but rather the extension of the date back to just before Hunter started working for Burisma in Ukraine.
Just what do you think he was doing there, Sarc?
Just like the mysterious millions of mail-in voters who suddenly appeared at 3 am in November 2020, never to be seen again, there's some things that Sarckles will never ruminate on.
Why in heck do you consider charges for not even filing taxes "silly"? You're living down to your name.
“(He started doing business consulting/serving on the board for the Ukrainian company Burisma in 2014, the date the pardon starts, for keen observers.)”
Thank you Liz. Your peers here seemed to go out of their way to miss this detail in all the articles yesterday. Especially noteworthy being Sullum.
Strange, isn't it. Jeff somehow also seemed to miss out on that peculiarity too.
Jeffy didn’t miss out on it. He deliberately misled and lied about it, as usual. He’s not called “Lying Jeffy” for no reason.
Also odd Trump got impeached for asking Zelensky to investigate an event directly tied to Biden pardoning his son.
Yeah that’s why I keep bringing up Sullum. Basically 2 years of his reporting turning out to be absolute bullshit.
That's why I brought that up yesterday here.
They impeached T over a phone call asking Zelensky to look into blatant Biden corruption.
Biden interfered with a Ukrainian prosecutor with Burisma in his sights while Hunter was there.
He then pardoned his son, not for the 2 crimes he was convicted of, but *ANYTHING* that could have happened up until 5 minutes ago, starting, lets say....hmmm...lets call it 5 minutes before he started his unearned job on a Ukranian energy company, Burisma.
It doesnt take Hercule fucking Poirot to solve this mystery.
They should officially have to retract the impeachment, and be held liable for the corruption Biden clearly just swept under the rug. Complete with a full apology to Trump
Given that Hunter worked at Burisma starting in 2013 --- I assume anything before 2014 is beyond statute of limitations as is.
Possible. It’s also possible no money exchanged hands until 2014.
Just idle curiosity; would the supreme court think a pardon has to be for a specific conviction?
Interesting question that I have no idea about. I’m guessing we’ll hear something soon if there’s an issue.
Really good question. The Nixon pardon might give us some insight. Nixon was pardoned for any and all crimes he might have committed while President. No idea if this would be treated differently or the same. Nixon pardon text:

Love him or loathe him, you have to admit that he'd be awesome to party with.

Sounds like treason to me. Suspend habeus corpus and start arresting.
Funny how when Texas or The South or wherever talks about secession it's "We are the CSA." or "We'd be the Peoples' Republic of Texas." or whatever. Does Canada get a say in this or is it more of a "You're going to accept Boston and NYC abjectly fucking up your electoral system and like it!"
Does Canada get a say in this or is it more of a "You're going to accept Boston and NYC abjectly fucking up your electoral system and like it!"
Well, one thing of note is that bringing a new province into Canada actually requires an amendment to Canada's constitution, with the consent of seven provinces required.
They could, accordingly, include whatever safeguards they like against the new province of 30 million people screwing up the electoral system for the 40 million previous Canadians.
It’s also why, no matter how big they get, Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut can never be provinces, unlike in the US where they could apply for statehood once they have internal support and apply to Congress.
And they have instituted such “safeguards” in the past. Ontario and Quebec get the lion’s share of the seats in Parliament and the Senate (which is quasi-proportional) and thus run the country much to the chagrin of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. It’s a major sticking point between ON & QC and the West.
Let them!
Where is M4E this morning? I was looking forward to his gas lighting on this one.
Fuck him.
Don’t worry. Jeffy will be here to gaslight in his stead. Sarc’s already here playing dumb.
"Playing" dumb?
Playing dumb as in deliberately ignoring what he’s been told for the umpteenth time.
'Let's examine Biden's innermost feelings'
Sure. Inside Joe's core right now is a nasty old man trying to fuck over as many people and institutions as he can before Jan 20. Obama's quote was close but not completely accurate.
Wow. Looks like they are eating cats in Ohio.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/12/03/this-is-repulsive-ohio-woman-jailed-for-one-year-after-killing-eating-cat/
“To me, you present quite a danger to our community,” he said, adding, “This is repulsive to me. I mean, that anyone would do this to an animal. An animal’s like a child. I don’t know if you understand that or not?”
As I always say when I find myself stuck between a
rockCat-eating Haitian anda hard placeCrazy Cat Lady, "Everyone is assholes."Are pigs and chickens and cattle like children too?
I mean, eating someone else's cat should definitely be a crime. But who am I, as an eater of animals, to say what animals are acceptable for other people to eat?
Yeah, I also don't agree with the point trying to be made. Eating someone else's pig or chicken is an equal crime. An animal is not a child. It is the conversion of someone else's property for your our purpose that is at issue, not how much the owner obsessed about their pet.
I could possibly be convinced that killing someone's pet is a worse crime than killing someone's livestock that was going to be slaughtered one way or another (as long as the owner is fully compensated). But that's because of the specific situation of being a pet, not because of the species of the pet.
I would suggest, in this scenario, that the law stays as is, treating the pet as property, with no harsher penalty enforced by the govt.
I would add, however, that the govt stand back and allow appropriate street justice to ensue.
Pets aren't kids. But if you kill my dog, god help you.
No, because likely you are taking away part of that person's livelihood, so you stole from them in addition to killing their animal. Rather they were going to sell it or consume it themselves, the fact is it is part of their livelihood. Killing a cat or a dog generally is sentimental (unless they're breeders or showers) but killing someone's livestock is a double assault on them. They lose something they've invested time and energy into raising (and most farmers and ranchers also do develop some emotional attachments to their livestock, it's bittersweet on the day you take them to the sales barn or the processors, I know from personal experience) you've also deprived them of either food or money.
"assigned female at birth"
"assigned male at birth"
Our GOVERNMENT actually wrote these words and put them in a SCOTUS brief.
The administration cannot change fast enough.
It is based on the Left's belief that if one changes the words describing a concept into something that is seemingly arbitrary, you can make an objective, observable fact into a subjective, mutable condition. It is postmodernist anti-rationality.
Do those complaining about the SCOTUS's presidential immunity ruling understand the level of immunity Hunter was just given?
Maybe, but they can’t see it through their blinding TDS.
And it runs until 12/31/24. Maybe Uncle Joe is hoping Hunter will have an opportunity to murder Trump on federal property.
Daddy just gave him a 28 day Purge pass.
I didn’t realize Hunter’s pardon actually went into the future.
People claim Trump’s NY trial verdict marked the day we officially became a banana republic. Biden seems to have one upped his shitty party.
Nice work, Big Guy.
"I didn’t realize Hunter’s pardon actually went into the future."

Fear and Loathing in Wilmington
we can't stop here! this is bat country.
""If, for example, a State prohibits an adolescent assigned female at birth from receiving testosterone to live as a male, but allows an adolescent assigned male at birth to receive the same treatment, the State has relied on a sex-based classification—and thus must justify its law under heightened scrutiny," writes the U.S. Solicitor General, Elizabeth Prelogar, in the brief before the Court. (The Biden administration has intervened in the case, taking the side of the three families and doctor who are suing the state of Tennessee.)"
This is the most asinine argument I've EVER read.
We know what excessive testosterone does to men, who are DESIGNED to handle it. It is quite exceedingly unhealthy and illegal (steroids ain't legal sans prescriptions for a reason). On women? Well, we have the history of Iron Curtain women's sports programs for Olympians and the like. But not tons of documentation as before recently, nobody was stupid enough to experiment on girls/women by doing this.
Fuck, I ANXIOUSLY await the Democrats trying to legalize Tuskegee experiments before much longer.
I was almost worried the Dems would step back from the abyss. Nope. They, unlike lemmings, are happily jumping off the edge.
Is it wrong to hope the SCOTUS seek to disbar any lawyer associated with bringing this case forward?
It is not the court's job to cosplay as medical doctors.
Allowing activists to hack up minors has worked wonders so far.
Is there anything the state does that you ACTUALLY oppose?
I know you have no kids and likely will never have any, but speaking as a parent, I'd happily watch all of these idiots suffer the horrifying consequences of the sheer evil they advocate and seek to accomplish.
He seems to oppose, at least to some extent, the state limiting what doctors can do to children in the name of "gender affirming care".
"Allowing activists to hack up minors has worked wonders so far."
This will go down like lobotomies, the Tuskegee shit, Nazi eugenics, etc.
Some day sanity will eventually win this out, and the people who carried this stuff out will be seen as the deranged wack jobs they are. Its honestly amazing it has as much traction, with even a majority of democrats opposing it, and like <20% approval as a nation.
the people who carried this stuff out will be seen as the deranged wack jobs they are.
At which point everyone on the left will claim to have always been against it, a claim the jeffsarcs will attack anyone to protect.
Isn't it Obama people dressed in white lab coats?
Fuck off and die, slimy pile of lying lefty shit
So is there no ethical line an MD can cross that ought to have legal consequences?
Jeff still has no good answer to the 2 following scenarios:
1. A MD and the parents agree that the child identifies as an amputee or paraplegic. Is it none of the govt business if the MD and parents and child agree to cut off his legs, or sever his spinal cord?
2. A child psychologist and sexual health expert, agrees in conjunction with a child and the childs parents, that everyone consents to and the best interest of all parties is that the parents and child are allowed to engage in intercourse. Its what they all want, and an expert approves it. Should the govt keep their noses out of it?
He has never answered the 2nd, and I have posed other versions of the 1st he weasels out of.
He won’t. If he answered those questions honestly, he’d actually have to take a position that would either a) destroy his current world view and make him question the shit he’s doing, or b) piss off the entire Reason commentariat far, far more than he already has, this isolating him and/or driving his fifty cent ass out of here.
Nor should teachers, but they seem to be allowed to "diagnose" ADD and gender issues. Hell, we practically let them treat students for the "gender dysmorphia" they diagnose. All without parental consent.
At least when you advocated allowing parents and doctors to amputate a healthy 6-year-old's arm you included the doctor and parents.
It is not the court's job to cosplay as medical doctors.
Yet Jeffy is fine when the twisted fucks at WPATH cosplay as medical doctors.
"twisted fucks at WPATH"
Lets not forget, aside from the shit coming out of Scandinavia and the NHS across the pond where they have found this shit is wacky and dangerous...
The studies the activists base their "expert claims" on have been shown to be terribly conducted, bordering on straight up fraudulent.
One of the major ones had to reprint their study and retract the largest claim they made (showing statistical positive effect of GAC on mental health) because...under scrutiny, it turned out their primary claim was absolutely not true...unsure if they were blatantly corrupt activists (most likely) or poor researchers (possibly, but more likely the former). Regardless, none of the GAC had any positive effect on therapy, pharmacologic needs, or hospitalization related to suicide attempts. In fact, the one notable uptick was a slight increase in hospilizations post suicide attempt....in the received-GAC group....Notable, it was slightly up, but not statistically significant. Most importantly, they lied about what their study showed, and had to be publicly shamed into retracting.
Recently, a study came to light that was attempting to be hidden from public view, as the researcher seemed to be a devout activist (noticing a pattern here?) who was sad her study didn't show statistical benefit, so she tried to bury it.
This shit will go down in flames, and these people will be asking for amnesty just like the COVID folks. It is important that we make an example of them, and dont provide it. This is child abuse and endangerment.
Also, it should be noted GAC in minors was called the Dutch Model, but the Dutch have slammed the brakes on it (largely because the study you mentioned was conducted in the Netherlands).
I mean fuck, when you've lost the Scandinavians you know you've gone beyond batshit crazy. And I say this as someone who of Norse and Danish heritage.*
* Referring to the fact that most of the Nordic countries have put a stop to GAC in minors or severe limitations on it.
Seems like there are plenty of Expert (TM) medical doctors, cosplaying as medical doctors.
Unfortunately it’s your job to cosplay as a libertarian, although poorly.
It is a court's job to do something about medical quackery and malpractice.
If the "assigned female at birth" requires testosterone to live as a male your argument is predicated on socially, scientifically or otherwise-established gender constructs and sex-based discrimination and, if it is an issue (which it hasn't been for the last approximate billion years of biological history), only perpetuates the issue rather than, in any way, resolving it. No standing... you dumb fuck, now get the fuck out of my fucking courtroom!
Seriously, it's been known *far* longer that exogenous testosterone, generally completely reversibly, just as if not more effectively obliterates male fertility, but we refuse to offer such drugs for free/OTC the way we offer drugs to prevent female fertility because, narratively, that would only empower men to further subjugate women to the reproductive process rather than liberate women from it.
Reading in a more favorable light; and thus must justify its law under heightened scrutiny. And then everything you wrote below is the justification that could survive under heightened scrutiny.
"I was almost worried the Dems would step back from the abyss. Nope. They, unlike lemmings, are happily jumping off the edge."
True believers never step back; it's why communism [apart from wars] killed around 110,000,000 within an 80 year period [1919-1989]. They just believe they have to communism harder, and blame kulaks and wreckers for their failures.
Their tribe sees your tribe in the same way that your tribe sees their tribe.
You think Biden's pardon of Hunter proves how corrupt he is. Well, they think Trump's pardons of Steve Bannon, or his daughter's father-in-law, or the soldiers convicted of war crimes in Afghanistan, prove how corrupt he is.
They rationalize their actions as justified because otherwise, the other tribe - which is evil - will just use Biden's son as a weapon against them. Your tribe rationalizes its actions as justified because otherwise, the other tribe - which is evil - will just use them as weapons against your tribe.
This pardon is wrong, but it could only happen because we live in such a polarized time. Neither side can trust the other side not to use the power of government in unorthodox, corrupt, or even illegal ways as weapons against each other. So either side has a strong incentive to break the rules if it means protecting their tribe or gaining an advantage over the other tribe.
The long-term solution is to reduce the power of government generally, so that even if it is wielded as a weapon, its power to do so is very limited. The shorter-term solution, however, is harder: it means not constantly being at each other's throats and to knock it off with this prisoner's dilemma-type approach to governance. There is no limiting principle to the escalation, and if it continues, it will only mean everything is destroyed.
Team Blue is not going to purge the nation of "radical MAGA" even if they think they are traitors, and Team Red is not going to purge the nation of "woke progressives" even if they think they are traitors. We have to learn to live together and to accept that neither 'radical MAGA' or 'woke progressives' are evil people at heart.
The side that wants to mutilate children, hate to break it to you, are evil.
AS are the side who are on the same side as pedos.
Man, Patel releasing the Epstein list will be fucking GLORIOUS!
It boggles my mind how Jeff can objectively look at the stuff he advocates here and not think he is pure evil
Jeff, in his own twisted mind, probably thinks he’s doing right and that we’re all wrong. He seems to believe he’s the righteous one. Most of the really evil folks do that. Pol Pot never once thought what he was doing was wrong. Nor did the Nazis believe they were in the wrong. Lenin thought he was right, as did Mao. Yet, they all committed evil acts in the name of what they believed to be right within their own twisted framework and morality. We don’t like to face it, but the most evil acts are performed by true believers who are convinced they are right.
Jeff's definitely part of the 'break a few eggs to make the omelet' school of thought.
""You think Biden's pardon of Hunter proves how corrupt he is. "'
No. But to excuse crimes unknown makes one wonder why.
"if it continues, it will only mean everything is destroyed."
Hmmm, um, err, whew, uh, pfffffffffft - Okay I accept.
Jokes aside, the only thing that will be destroyed is D.C.'s relevance and power. We are at the internal palace intrigue point. As D.C. implodes in agonizingly slow motion, the rest of America will roll on. Everyone is pointing to this as an inflection point, but I believe the inflection point was when Obama droned an American citizen.
Balkanization is inevitable.
This pardon is wrong, but it could only happen because we live in such a polarized time.
Horseshit, Jeffy. The pardon happened because Joe is corrupt as hell, as is his kid, and they want to avoid prosecution for their crimes.
You think Biden's pardon of Hunter proves how corrupt he is. Well, they think Trump's pardons of Steve Bannon, or his daughter's father-in-law, or the soldiers convicted of war crimes in Afghanistan, prove how corrupt he is.
No, you misunderstand the issue, I think. The media used Biden's statements that he would never pardon Hunter to show just how virtuous he was in compared to Trump. Just his statements, of course. As opposed to Trump, who has some justification in pointing out that novel theories of law were being applied to target him specifically and that he didn't accept the verdict.
But there was never any reason to believe Biden. He was hemmed into taking that position. I didn't necessarily believe he was lying but I had no reason to believe it was just true, either.
Now that it's shown that Biden absolutely will pardon his son, therefore asserting his son is innocent and politically targeted, he's got exactly the same position as Trump. Neither side can claim they've put more faith in the justice system. But the media does and will continue to believe that Biden is more moral and virtuous, just that he did something that's bad "optically." It LOOKS bad because it puts him on the same moral grounding as Trump.
The majority of the country that thinks that Trump is not literally Hitler isn't shocked by this. He's just another politician and not especially or significantly bad. They ALL are like this, just some of their values and positions tend to align more directly with what certain voters prioritize. People who uphold the example of Joe Biden standing up for justice were always full of shit.
The majority of the country that thinks that Trump is not literally Hitler isn't shocked by this. He's just another politician and not especially or significantly bad.
I can't read what's behind the gray box but even this is a fair bit of false equivocation. Hunter's charges are, according to Sullum's own statements, applied to no less than an average of 133 people per year while Trump's charges were *completely* novel. Trump was *targeted* by an AG who ran on convicting him no matter what. Hunter was "targeted" with a conviction that more than a hundred other people a year have gotten for almost a decade.
Even the "It's bad optically." take *assumes* there are roses and/or diamonds buried in what is otherwise, optically, a massive pile of shit.
Biden came into office on the heels of the Nixon scandals.
Just think: Nixon was accused, and likely guilty of, so much less than Biden. Night and day difference.
Unlike Biden, Nixon DID have some semblance of shame.
And just so we're clear the war crimes were petty shit like pissing on a Tali corpse while taking pictures. They weren't Mai Lai or Bataan Death March war crimes. And also to nitpick it was Marines and Sailors, not soldiers. At least he could get that fact right.
Fuck off and die, steaming pile of lying lefty shit
>>This pardon is wrong, but it could only happen because we live in such a polarized time.
ya everyone knows the Chinese invented yin & yang like 14 years ago.
It's so cute when Jeffey pretends he's not a leftist as if he hasn't revealed himself a thousand times already, for example when he defended The 1619 Project using the far left's exact talking points.
"You think Biden's pardon of Hunter proves how corrupt he is."
Nah, we didn't need proof of it. What is noteworthy is the way Biden adamantly, repeatedly, authoritatively stated that he would *never* do such a thing.
And the fawning media held up those statements a proof of just how noble and enlightened Biden is, as proof that he is a better man than that crude buffoon Trump. And how it proved that the people who supported Biden were, by extension (in their own minds) also similarly enlightened and noble and removed from those MAGA assholes.
All that smugness coming crashing down as Biden reveals that he is little better than a common mafioso, and the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the commentariat class, the logical contortions required to maintain somehow that "we're still better than those assholes" is entertaining.
The other sides "see, your guy is not as noble as you thought" schadenfreude is little more than that.
^ unmitigated midwit slop. Well done jffy
"Their tribe sees your tribe in the same way that your tribe sees their tribe."
This same old "tribe" horseshit that the social engineers have been pushing for one hundred plus years now.
There are no "Tribes" jeffy. No 'right' or 'left', 'liberal' or 'conservative', 'patrician' or 'plebian'.
There are people who want to control the world, and dominate, and silence, and lord over, and farm their fellow humans, and those who don't.
That's why Ted Cruz and Tulsi Gabbard are now in the same party. That's why Tucker Carlson and Glenn Greenwald can sit together and agree on almost everything. That's why Liz Cheney and Kamala Harris campaigned together.
And we all know where you sit on human freedom, Nazi.
I for one look forward to:
- A full pardon for everyone involved in J6
- Prosecution of the capitol police officer that shot an unarmed protestor
- Trump fully deploying the military and using them as he wishes to secure the border, and if he gets a little too 'unconstitutionally', he can always step down on January 2029 and let President Vance issue him a full and unconditional pardon for, lets say, 2015-2030, just to be safe
Your rules, live by them now
Just look at Lying Jeffy do his thing!
How is pardoning soldiers “corrupt”or in any way analogous to pardoning your son to cover crimes where he was kicking proceeds back to you like you were a mafia capo?
Everything Jeff bought was wrong.

What is the difference between a man who has ‘transitioned’ and a man who has not? There isn’t one. Cosmetic surgery and a piece of paper don’t make a man a woman any more than a deep desire to be female does. Besides, gender identity has always just been about feeling and pronouncement. It is not a concrete, verifiable or coherent concept.

How do the delusions of a person who refuses the fact of their sex differ from the delusions of a person who refuses the fact that the earth is not flat?
Why do we allow statists to enshrine one delusion in laws and not the other?
Who would support laws restricting the sale of globes, or acknowledging the rising and setting of the sun?
Why do the delusions of a person who thinks they are in the wrong sexed body somehow to be accepted and celebrated, but someone who thinks they were born with the wrong skin color someone who need to be cancelled (or worse)?
"Race" is far more cultural and less biologically invested than XY vs XX male vs female biology. Ought to be a lot easier to ignore a few genes than a whole chromosome, it seems to me.
Plenty of people do pass as other races with little controversy. Maybe trannies should take a note from them. If you can pass, or even if you don't rub it in everyone's face, very few people give a fuck.
>>Plenty of people do pass as other races with little controversy.
because races do not exist.
Races do exist, but not the ones everyone thinks.
A San from the Kalahari and a Mbuti from the Congo are definitely different races, both genetically and phenotypically, but a Filipino and a Swede are the same.
I'll take it.
What if a parent just really wanted to have a eunuch? I can verify with science that someone is in fact a eunuch.
Yes. No compromise.
The issue is far, far deeper than the biology. This is a concerted attempt to force people to accept "The next statement is true. The previous statement is false." as unquestionable fact. Rather evidently, whether they realize it or not, as much if not more fundamentalist and insane than Jihadists.
If you can simply undefine the last 2,000+ yrs. of biological science on your whim, undefining the periodic table, completeness, information theory, cryptography, genetics, even the shape of the globe... pieces of cake.
Slit its throat, burn the corpse, bury the ashes, salt the ground around the grave, beat anyone who asks too many questions with a shovel. Especially if they're in a position of power, because that's the implicit aim. Not to actually redefine and improve upon existing science or knowledge with empirical evidence and self-evident truths that any individual can grasp, but to torture lesser minds, bend them to their (or other) will(s), and to exploit them to hinder and flummox equal or greater minds.
It has been demonstrated repeatedly that these people don't simply want to pass as the opposite sex. Remember, "all of this started" when Charlotte passed a law telling private bathroom owners how they would and would not use their bathrooms and the State of NC said they couldn't do that.
Your issue isn't the issue. Their issue isn't the issue. Their issue is to distract you from their need for greater power and control.
Not having been born last night, I was never under any illusion that a president's son would do jail time, but I thought the matter would be handled discretely via strings pulled and backroom manipulations. I wasn't expecting even Joe Biden to haul off and just blatantly flip the whole country the bird. These are interesting times.
Seriously? "Joe will pardon his son between the election and any sentencing" didn't occur to you?
It was the least surprising thing that happened this weekend.
The NEA should provide a lifetime grant for Baby Boy’s shitty paintings as well.
I mean, why the fuck not at this point?
Over 30,000 comments on WAPO’s first story about the pardon. Most are “But, Trump…” or “What a good dad.”
"...A pardon was one thing he could do for a troubled son, a recovering addict who he felt had been subjected to years of public pain..."
And many years as a bag man, peddling his dad's influence, poor dear.
Joe Biden pardons his son for his offspring's numerous crimes.
That's wonderful.
Now pardon all the J6 political prisoners.
Otherwise, people might think Joe's pardons are just for family members.
Turns out, they are.

also I'm confused by the President's statement is the Department of Justice weaponized or not?
The Biden DOJ is only weaponized against Bidens
"If, for example, a State prohibits an adolescent assigned female at birth from receiving testosterone to live as a male
Sex is not assigned at birth, it is observed at birth, you barking retards.
There were posters in the sixties; "reality is a crutch".
No, no, we need to set up the whole world for the vanishingly small number of people born with ambiguous external genitalia.
They're not even talking about those people.
Regardless, I don't have to formally assign the classification of "car" and "cake" to the respective objects to fuck up my car by putting sugar in it or my cake by putting motor oil in it. Testosterone is an inherent, but not necessarily critical, feature of the male anatomy and not (nearly to the same level in) the female whether the state recognizes or assigns anything or not. To wit, even under the retard's premise, an "assigned male" can't/doesn't/won't take testosterone to "live as a male". Even if he has low testosterone, he will continue to "live as a male".
If I, despite being assigned/observed as a human male at birth, desire to live as a golden poison frog, can I go around putting a residue of batrachotoxin on everything I touch? The State recognizes the golden poison frog as one of the most poisonous animals on Earth because of the poison they naturally generate from their diet so, if I'm to "live as a golden poison frog" I have no choice but to poison people's stuff and/or the environment around me.
Moreover, and again, does the ACA cover abortions for men? Does Hobby Lobby have to provide abortifacient contraceptives to men? Will the Solicitor General Retard be petitioning for testosterone-based birth control for men? Injecting women with steroids to put them to work on roofs and around woodchippers so they can die on the job at the same rate as men?
If the answer to any of these is "No." then she can shove her "The State recognizes..." intellectual aborted fetus right back up her cunt. The State recognizes all those facts and does and does not do things in a sex-specific/discriminatory manner all the fucking time.
https://www.thecollegefix.com/umich-regent-board-re-thinking-dei-statements-programs-after-intense-scrutiny/
Research published exclusively by The College Fix earlier this year by economist Mark Perry found the University of Michigan has more than 500 employees focused on DEI, with payroll costs exceeding $30 million annually.
This is one university. I wonder why college costs are going up so much Dems need to hide the increase by sticking the bill to taxpayers.
It also demonstrates Dem priorities. They don't actually care if their spending improves circumstances, all they care about is creating make-work jobs for otherwise unemployable left wing activists. This is why they passed Obamacare as well: it doesn't improve anyone's medical care but it sure creates job opportunities for useless left wingers.
This is a few years old...
Universities and K-12 institutions, the ground zero from where standards of unequal diversity and inclusion emanate, spend far beyond their fair share, doling out tens of thousands on consultants each year. Ohio State University alone employs 132 “diversicrats” with an average salary of $77,000 per year and an annual estimate eclipsing $13 million.
https://twitter.com/Mark_J_Perry/status/1467959926567931913/photo/1
Just out today:
@OhioState
has a small army of 132 "diversicrats" at an avg. salary of $77,000 and total est. payroll cost of $13.4M, which would cover in-state tuition for 1,120 students
Also a few years old...
Administrative bloat in higher education has gotten so bad over the last three decades that many universities now employ more administrators than professors. But the problem at Yale University is even more serious than that: Yale has more administrators than undergraduate students. According to the Yale Daily News:
Over the last two decades, the number of managerial and professional staff that Yale employs has risen three times faster than the undergraduate student body, according to University financial reports. The group's 44.7 percent expansion since 2003 has had detrimental effects on faculty, students and tuition, according to eight faculty members.
As evidenced by the financial report from 2002-2003, Yale employed 3,500 administrators and managers while there were 5,307 undergraduate students enrolled at the university. Less than two decades later in 2019, before the pandemic affected enrollment, Yale employed more than 1,500 additional administrators while the undergraduate population had only risen by 600 students. Now undergraduate enrollment has dipped to 4,703, with more than 5,000 “managerial and professional staff.”
Meanwhile, professor of English Leslie Brisman made light of the situation, remarking, “I think we don’t yet have a Vice President for the rights of the left-handed, but I haven’t checked this month,”
It also demonstrates Dem priorities. They don't actually care if their spending improves circumstances, all they care about is creating make-work jobs for otherwise unemployable left wing activists.
Keep in mind they could have hired a lot of these same activists to be adjunct instructors for 101 courses. The gen ed credit requirements for graduation are complete bullshit and need to be evaporated, but if they're in place the least the college could do is provide sufficient instructors or at least better pay to the ones who are already on the teaching ledger.
It shows that for all the peacocking about "doing the work," marxists are some of the laziest motherfuckers around and are crippled by their deterministic mindset.
British members of Parliament just voted to legalize assisted suicide for people with six months or less left to live.
Imagine being so stupid you dont understand that this is how the NHS is planning to save money and they will absolutely push it aggressively, with internal target numbers and everything.
the line for those with four months to three months to live begins on the left ...
If you're going to accept the premise that our governments should protect minors from awful parenting, then STERILIZING your own children should be on the list of things to protect them from.
This should not even be a question much less a controversy
The idea that the State should provide free school lunches and arrest anyone who criminally neglects their kid but can't prevent parents from emotionally and sexually crippling their children is only a question in the minds of people who desire to emotionally and sexually cripple (and/or criminally neglect) their (or, in the case of cat ladies, others') children.
"If you're going to accept the premise that our governments should protect minors from awful parenting"
This is another one of the only 2 times the left lands on the side of "freedom" from govt. This and abortion. That's it. Odd that both issues involving maiming or murdering kids...
But seriously, the side that legit argues to have parents prosecuted for their kid not showing up to school (thanks, madam VP), or charging a mother for letting her tween go on a walk too many blocks away from her house...these are the people who all of a sudden found their libertarian freedom rally cry.
Get fucked weirdo leftists. You argued for nanny state everything, you dont get to wave the freedom flag *only* when it happens to involve hurting kids
Joe pardoned Hunter now because otherwise Trump was gonna do it. That would have been pure gold. Once again, Joe shows he's sharper than he let on. He already fucked the entire democratic establishment after his manufactured "withdrawal" from the race when an intern posted a letter he didnt write or sign. Then he pre-empted them by nominating Kamala and smirked about it. I'm starting to like the cut of his jib
I will say I have enjoyed some of his antics. And it was hilarious how happy he looked after the election. Still a giant asshole, though.
Since nobody else has mentioned SpaceX in the comments:
Time from first successful SpaceX rocket launch to first successful orbital booster re-use: 8 years 6 months 2 days.
Time from first successful SpaceX orbital booster re-use to anyone else in the world successfully re-using an orbital booster: Unknown, but it's already been 8 years 11 months 12 days without anyone doing it.
SpaceX blazed the trail faster than than anybody else (established rocket companies like Boeing and Lockheed-Martin; rival billionaires like Bezos and Branson; new start-ups like Rocket Lab and Firefly; entire national space programs like China, India, Japan, and Russia) has been able to follow. That's absolutely astonishing -- the pioneer will go down various blind alleys discovering what's possible, the followers can then just copy the leader.
And SpaceX has reasonably high personnel turnover. Tom Mueller (SpaceX employee #1, design lead on the Merlin engine) was a critical hire in 2002 -- but he left SpaceX in 2020. There are lots and lots of less prominent former SpaceX people around, too. The foreign national governments might have a hard time hiring them, but other US rocket companies can.
Musk is unreal.
Here's an article from sometime Reason contributor Jesse Singal on higher ed:
https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/what-if-liberals-have-agency?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=4833&post_id=152468794&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=9bg2k&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email
Here Jesse approvingly cites someone else's article:
Over the past 10 years, I have watched in horror as academe set itself up for the existential crisis that has now arrived. Starting around 2014, many disciplines — including my own, English — changed their mission. Professors began to see the traditional values and methods of their fields — such as the careful weighing of evidence and the commitment to shared standards of reasoned argument — as complicit in histories of oppression. As a result, many professors and fields began to reframe their work as a kind of political activism.
I want to highlight this because it's incomplete and misleading. These "many" professors did not begin this in 2014, they began roughly 50 years ago when the far left changed tactics at the end of the Vietnam Era draft which eliminated their mass public support. Instead they began to infiltrate our institutions, especially higher ed. The number of leftists who successfully entered were initially too small to eradicate balanced thought overnight, but since they were effectively unopposed they began to shape academic thought almost immediately. This was hastened with their push for new Departments, supposedly academic, but which are in reality political as Jesse and the original author now recognize. They immediately began blackballing non-leftists and even liberals (as not left enough) in any department they could - again essentially unopposed as the non-left faculty did not challenge their goals and believed they could stop any overreach.
This was well underway in the 80s when the original political correctness went public. What we see today are the same ideas rejected back then. Leftists reacted to this rejection by driving out the remaining non-leftists and making the environment even more hostile to non-left thought until now there are only handful of non-leftists willing to speak up out of ~840,000 full time faculty. The 2014 date he mentions was actually triggered in 2011, when Obama's Department of Education illegitimately issued a "Dear Colleague" letter instructing universities that Title IX actually mandated a certain structure and adjudication process for sexual harassment. These instructions eliminated due process and defined harassment beyond anything a reasonable person would accept as is typical of left wing corruption. For example it was used against Laura Kipnis who criticized its application to consensual relationships among grad students and similar aged professors not in their department. For expressing an opinion which conflicted with a left wing activists' opinion she was investigated under Title IX and eventually left the University.
The most extreme left activists on campus uniformly manage this illegitimate enforcement bureaucracy ensuring it is used to further their political goals as it was always intended to do. It's passing signaled to like minded professors they could now be open in pursuing the objectives they had been striving for for decades already since they now have kangaroo courts to silence any dissent. This is not a new phenomenon.
The end goal is the politicization of all jobs, which is the underlying principle of cancel culture which is why we see them trying to export DEI to the business world. Only when you control all jobs can you enforce political retribution on anyone in America. They're to re-create the level of control the Soviets had and that George Orwell envisioned, where jobs and ultimately consumption are determined by political reliability rather than production.
Just a Merciful Father
Y'know, the funny thing is that if he'd actually gone that route, the American people likely would have been more accepting of it.
Imagine instead he went with this: "Yes, my son has led a less than admirable life and has made choices that bring shame upon our family name. But he is my son, and I do love him, and I'm in the unique position to give him something no other father today could. I know it's not fair, and I know it contradicts everything I've said to date on the subject - but would any father do otherwise? I hope he finds grace and humility with this opportunity that few, if any others would - and I hope he dedicates the rest of his life as a loving father to his children, including little Navy Roberts-Biden who I would love to one day meet, and as a symbol of the redeeming power of forgiveness that we should all hope for one another."
I wouldn't have begrudged him that. I probably would have even applauded it. Wouldn't you?
This isn't about Biden, he's a non-entity now. The issue is how the media and activists used the event to portray Dems & the left generally as superior when in fact they are unscrupulous and disgusting people who can only justify their positions by applying double standards to their allies.
Yea, I get that.
But I also think they'd have a heck of a time keeping up their narratives if Biden had been the one to admit - and personally own - how the Democrat party has been throwing stones at glass houses (and, in particular, one in Florida) for the last four years.
Biden seems intent on scorching the earth on his way out. I'm surprised he didn't lob another grenade at the State Media.
“If, for example, a State prohibits an adolescent assigned female at birth from…”
There’s the problem. Doctors aren’t assigning shit, they’re recognizing reality. God damn.
Doctors aren’t assigning shit
Nor are they acting explicitly on behalf of the State. Nor does observing translate directly to any dictation one way or the other. Nor is the State barred from disparate outcomes from disparate observations (The FF explicitly counted slaves and Indians different from colonists but you're an insane bigot if you think they could tell the difference between men and women or intended for the government to)...
Again, these people aren't fighting for some poor woman with too much hair on their lips or 40 yr. old men who, through some medical malady, testicles still haven't descended, or even some remote odd, coherent colony of indigneous people. They're explicitly using the courts and the law to torture people into, when the party holds up 5 penises and says 1 is a vagina, dutifully embracing and professing that there are 4 penises and one male vagina.
Pure obliteration of self/the individual, history, and reason in support of The Party/State.
I thought "Retard World" summed it up quite nicely:
https://x.com/tmsilverman/status/1864150378058547408
The only true statement Biden made is this is all because of his son's last name, i.e., he would have never had the opportunity to pull off a multi-million $ shakedown of a foreign government (then avoid those unpleasant taxes, etc.) were he not a Biden. Beyone that he should just say "deal with it". You gotta love the MSM twisting themselves into pretzels trying to justify it. I'm sure Joe is laughing at them.
Joe is correct that the prosecutions of Hunter are due to his last name: Without that last name, he could not have made millions by influence peddling. Without that last name, he probably would never have made enough money to owe income tax or be required to file, so those charges go away. And without that last name, no publishing house would have been at all interested in the memoirs of a crack-addicted bum, so he would not be in print confessing to cocaine use during the time he bought and was in possession of a gun (for which he would not have had the money in the first place), and it's very unlikely the prosecution could have proved his cocaine use.
Which is why ordinary people are so rarely prosecuted for that. Typical gun owners in Parkersburg don't make videos of their meth labs.

New low for Hunter Biden: Fighting to prevent daughter with ex-lover from using his last name
Hunter Biden fathered a daughter with ex-lover Lunden Roberts. It is disgraceful that he is fighting so hard to prevent his child from taking his last name
