Voter Fraud Is Rare, but Many Americans Believe Their Votes Won't Be Counted Correctly
Only one in four Republican voters are very confident their ballots will be counted correctly, and Trump voters are far less likely to believe the election will be decided fairly.

It was an explosive claim of possible voter fraud—exactly the sort of thing that former President Donald Trump and conservative pundits have spent years warning Republican voters to fear: more than 50 voters registered to a single address in Erie, Pennsylvania.
"NO ONE lives there," claimed Cliff Maloney, a Republican canvasser who discovered the alleged fraud, in a post on X that went viral and has racked up over 2.8 million views. "We will not let the Dems count on illegal votes," he added.
Just one problem: A lot of people do live there. The address in question is a monastery belonging to the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, a group of "nearly 70" nuns who have been based in Erie since the 1850s. The names of the nuns living there match many of those listed as "illegal votes" by Maloney. In a statement responding to Maloney's post, the group called the claim "blatantly false" and encouraged everyone to be more careful about what they see and read before the election.
"A free republic depends on free and fair elections," Sister Stephanie Schmidt said in that statement. "It depends equally on a discerning and conscientious citizenry who do not unquestioningly accept the word of anyone who has a social media platform."
Good advice. Actual, proven instances of mass voter fraud on the scale necessary to shift the outcome of an election—even in a super competitive state like Pennsylvania—are virtually nonexistent, despite seemingly nonstop claims to the contrary.
Voter fraud is a fact of life in any democracy, but it is usually the result of carelessness on the part of single voters or ballot-counters, and there are ample processes in place to identify and correct those mistakes when they occur. After the 2020 election, the Associated Press found 475 instances of possible voter fraud in six states where a combined 25 million ballots were cast. High-profile claims of voter fraud in Arizona, Georgia, and everywhere Rudy Giuliani looked evaporated upon closer inspection.
At a certain point, the lack of evidence for widespread voter fraud ought to make Americans more skeptical of these claims. Instead, it looks like the opposite might be happening.
Just 39 percent of respondents to a recent University of Massachusetts Amherst poll said they were "very confident" that their voters would be counted accurately in this year's election. That includes just 26 percent of Republicans and 16 percent of independents. Even when including those who say they are "somewhat confident" that votes will be tabulated correctly, only about two-thirds of the country have faith that the outcome of the election will reflect the votes cast.
A similar partisan divide emerged in a recent Pew Research Center survey that asked whether "it will be clear who won the election" after all the votes were counted. Just 58 percent of Trump voters are "very" or "somewhat" confident that those final counts will be clear, compared to 81 percent of Vice President Kamala Harris voters who are prepared to trust the process.
This is a potentially worrying problem since a lot of the legitimacy of any democratic system is tied up in the public's perception of the electoral system. Even if voter fraud or other electoral shenanigans are exceedingly rare, the belief that they are rampant undermines that essential trust—upon which the entire edifice of the "of the people, by the people, for the people" government is built.
A cynic might believe that Republican partisans—from Maloney to Tucker Carlson to Trump himself—are deliberately spreading lies and exaggerating claims of voter fraud to sow doubt that could metastasize into full-blown chaos later this month.
But, like with those rare instances of actual voter fraud, it's always better to assume incompetence (or at least self-serving willful ignorance) rather than malice. Probably more important is the point made by Sister Schmidt: Don't believe everything you see on social media.

Two straw men in one headline.
Convictions for voter fraud is rare. Even when identified most DAs or SoS don't pursue it. See GA.
By thus metric jaywalking is rare.
Reason is all in for democrat voter fraud.
81 percent of Vice President Kamala Harris voters...are prepared to trust the process.
You'll see differently if she loses.
You’ll see differently
ifwhen she loses.98% of Putin voters are 100% sure voter fraud is rare and their crazy opposition is just engaging in crazy talk when they complain about their votes not being counted. They're crazy.
The democrat rioting will likely make the 2020 democrat rioting look like Woodstock.
They are going to be starving to death and will need the national guard to deliver them food?
They'll just put in 20k doordash orders per hour and let the "poors" and minorities bring their $18 Erewohn smoothies to the protest site.
hate to say this, but ... stick to tariffs?
Regulations keeping out foreign votes are effectively a tax on American voters. ????
If we put a tariff on fraud, we could all be rich!
silly me.
Voter fraud is widespread, and I'd be shocked if both parties don't participate. The Democrats have an advantage in that they have control of the large urban centers meaning they can mill more votes. But a guy like Mitch McConnell would absolutely fraud up as many votes as he could get his hands on.
If the system is wide open for fraud (and it is), then fraud is occurring with regularity. To believe otherwise is to believe that the people in government are just far too honorable to engage in such behavior, a provably false claim.
Mitch mcconal is a member of the globalhomo uniparty, and an ally of the dems
Oh there are Republicans who absolutely participate in voter fraud, but since before Tammany Hall and the Chicago Machine the Democrats have elevated it to an art form. And in 2020 with a little assist from the FBI and the CIA it's become the rule.
When the stakes are sufficiently large, it's naïve to simply assume people won't cheat. And if there's incentive to cheat, it's imperative to ensure that measures are taken to prevent cheating, and also measures to reassure people that you're addressing the possibility of cheating.
The problem is that the process is opaque. Audits seldom happen and end up disregarded. And there's people pushing to remove some of the security infrastructure when people are already suspicious about the outcomes. It creates a perception.
If there's a lack of faith in the outcomes, it's not because of misinformation or people being overly credulous of claims they see on social media. It's because the institution itself isn't doing enough to reassure people that it is doing what's necessary. It's not a responsive system to concerns, it's not transparent. Plus there's an overcompensation of people denouncing every claim before it's ever investigated, or resisting even the investigation itself. When you've been gaslit by the media about COVID, global warming, hormone therapy, and vaccines, you reflexively doubt the media when they overwhelmingly assert the security of the election.
In fact, it's surprising that faith in the process is as high as it is.
Never forget this.

Democrats literally sued to stop GA from counting the number if received ballots before totalling votes. That is the most basic of fraud protections.
When the JOJ drags a State into federal court demanding that self declared non citizens remain on voter rolls and the governor of California makes voter identification illegal, it doesn't look much like they're interested in a free and fair election.
+1
This is was the issue before 2020. We can't have voter ID laws because there's a statistically non-zero chance that black people don't know where their DMV is but, in an emergency, fuck black people who don't know where the DMV is, we're mailing ballots anywhere and everywhere.
Whether there's fraud or not, your behavior has highlighted that the operation of the system at 'nominal integrity' is actually very haphazard and shitty.
In 1993, Dems (especially left-progressives) were over the moon about the passage of the Federal "Motor Votor" law, which was supposed to be a huge win for participation because it "conneceted registering to vote with something that everybody has to do anyway". The entire policy seems predicated on the idea that obtaining that ID is less difficult than filling out and mailing in a voter registration card (usually available for free at any US Post Office, and many other government buildings including public libraries)
Prior to that law, there was zero controversy over the question of issuing Driver Licenses to non-citizens (including those who entered the country illegally). Provided they can safely operate a vehicle, there's nothing about driving that's contingent on citizenship or nationality. After the law, the case for why "black people can't get ID" seems to often be tied to the fact that older people in rural areas and those who weren't born in hospitals might lack a birth certificate that's sufficient to obtain a DL (and in the "RealID" era, there's even more documentation required now). It's interesting how in just 10 years the official line had transitioned from "getting ID is easier than registering to vote" to "having ID is an undue and illegal burden to put onto voters".
Just one more shifting position by the Dems which makes me wonder if we're maybe in the midst of another "polar reversal" of the two "viable" parties, or if this is just some kind of more thorough re-alignment.
Opaque is the point I came here to make. No one can trace their ballot from casting to an official total. Much less the provenance of every other totalled vote. That makes the possibility of fraud always there. It's simply a matter of faith at that point. Not surprising that so many don't have it.
Regarding audits, mostly they're not even set up to detect fraud. The only way to detect fraud is to see if John Smith really exists, and cast this exact ballot. Seeing that someone signed "John Smith" in two different places isn't helpful at all.
And a solution occurred to me last year. Others have probably come up with this because it's actually strange it doesn't exist yet. Just have each ballot come with a code, a unique key, 10-12 characters. The only thing it's connected to is the ballot itself. When you cast your secret ballot, it doesn't have your name on it, it just has this key. You can write it down, or maybe there's a perforated tab you tear off.
Later, when the votes are counted, you go to the Secretary of state page and type in the key, and it brings up the ballot, showing all your choices. Each individual voter can then have some sense that the output is connected to their inputs. If you type in the key and it shows your ballot wasn't counted, you at least have a valid claim and a petition for recourse. If you type in the key and the selections don't match what you know you voted for, you at least can cry foul even if it can't be resolved.
It wouldn't completely solve the issue but it would be a big step toward the type of transparency that restores faith in the process.
This is the purpose of public/private key encryption. And you can further secure it by putting all of this data on a blockchain. You would vote and anyone in the public could look at that vote and sum it up, but only you would be able to confirm that the specific vote was yours. In addition, you could cryptographically prove that the vote was YOUR vote and hadn't been tampered with.
Imagine that- a voter record that is publicly distributed, not hidden in a database somewhere, and where each individual could see and prove the validity of their vote.
The only thing this doesn't prevent is someone getting the keys of many people who would otherwise not vote, and voting in their place.
The only thing this doesn’t prevent is someone getting the keys of many people who would otherwise not vote, and voting in their place.
But they could still be required to check in to vote in person by showing a photo ID. The key would only be tied to the ballot, not the voter nor any voter ID in the system. And then you can verify on the back end that, at least, the number of ballots cast matches the number of voters who checked in to vote. You still have means of auditing the process after the fact.
This type of system would have been possible 20 years ago but could have been costly to implement, and the entire world wasn't as connected to the web. But by now it would be relatively simple to do, and octogenarians in rural Mississippi have smart phones.
California used to do part of this. There was a tear-off piece on the ballot with a tracking number on it.
I don't know that they ever actually made those numbers traceable, but since the outcome of almost every November vote in CA is known by April of the previous year, it's been decades since anyone even called for a recount in CA let alone demanded some kind of audit or challenged a result.
Absent a completely auditable count of every vote it is IMPOSSIBLE to say for certain who won or lost every election.
Anyone who is against voter ID for citizenship is a traitor since they are willfully undermining the election far worse than someone who says 'go and protest patriotically and peacefully'.
Failure to find proof of rampant fraud only proves that the rampant fraudsters are sneaky.
In 2018, two-thirds of Democratic voters actually believed Russia changed the vote totals.

Idiots on both sides.
The only thing that I'm confident in this election is that, regardless of who wins, the other side will cry foul. I'm afraid the institution of democracy itself has now been corrupted beyond repair.
It’s an absolute certainty that Trump will declare fraud if he loses. It may as well be a plank in his platform. Don’t know about Democrats.
I don’t think the institution of democracy is corrupted. The perception of it is corrupted. Thanks mostly to a gameshow host who can’t stand to lose.
Because there is already obvious fraud being uncovered across the country. With more to come.
You democrats won’t stop until you’re stopped by Americans.
Trump and his minions will absolutely declare fraud if he loses. If he narrowly wins, I can see Antifa organizing and wreaking havoc too. The only question is how much friction is required to light a spark? I don't know the answer to that question.
If Trump squeezes past the fraud factor, wins and manages to dodge all the bullets, the deep state will absolutely refuse to let him assume the presidency.
I foresee a post victory arrest of both him and Vance because reasons and tRuMp iS a fELoN. The Democrats and GOPe will then refuse to validate the results because Trump is a criminal.
They have all done way to much criminal shit in order to get Trump and there is zero chance they are going to run the risk of paying the piper.
Stock up on toilet paper kids.
Not ammo?
If Trump squeezes past the fraud factor, wins and manages to dodge all the bullets, the deep state will absolutely refuse to let him assume the presidency.
So even if he wins, he will still be a victim?
should read:
"So even if he wins, they will still try to victimize him?"
To which the answer is, obviously, YES.
It’s an absolute certainty that Trump will declare fraud if he loses. It may as well be a plank in his platform. Don’t know about Democrats.
Why don’t you know? Above you said “ idiots on both sides”. You seemed certain then, why not now?
And Hillary Clinton has been crying for 8 years that Russia cheated her, Trump cheated her. Nancy Pelosi said the election (2016) was 'hijacked'. Democrats spent 4 years with #NotMyPresident and #Illegitimate on every social media posting. Al Gore went to the Supreme Court to get the votes in Florida counted his way.
"Boaf sidez!"
If you manage to live for forty more years you'll still be complaining about the 2020 election being "stolen". What's your point?
It was frauded?
The problem is no one can prove one way or the other with certainty whether it was stolen or not.
Democrats funded by billionaires have spent the last 8 years "fortifying" elections, inserting paid operatives into elections offices.
So despite you being given examples of Democrats crying fraud dozens and dozens of times, your assertion is you only know Trump will.
When people call you an idiot Democrat, this is why.
Don’t know about Democrats.
We do know how the Democrats reacted to the 2016 election.
https://reason.com/2023/05/16/for-6-5-million-durham-report-finds-fbi-didnt-have-solid-dirt-on-trump-and-russia/
And this is why articles like this exist. Idiots like sarc will pretend the only proof is convictions or demand evidence controlled by the state. In 2020 we even saw democrats charge people attempting to find the evidence sarc demands.
By sarcs standards here, Venezuela just had the cleanest election ever.
Sarc will also ignore actual court findings and determinations of illegal ballots, voting changes, etc. His demanded proof always moving.
There is proof. Trump has so many papers you would not believe! Literally.
https://www.fox10tv.com/video/2024/10/28/trump-with-joe-rogan-stolen-election-claims/
You may be wondering: why won’t he just show us those papers? Yeah.
You have to elect him as president to find out what he will do as president
He released his teams report on illegal votes with a focus on GA. It included double votes and people voting in wrong districts. I've given you a link to the document.
You seem to think papers only exist if a government actor decides they do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Is this the report from his Uuuge press release of irrefutable proof...that he cancelled?
Or this one?
https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/3977965-second-trump-hired-firm-found-2020-fraud-claims-were-all-false/
You seem to think papers only exist if a government actor decides they do
I'm a skeptic. I mistrust the government and Trump. I think they are both self-interested prolific liars.
> Failure to find proof of rampant fraud only proves that the rampant fraudsters are sneaky.
Oooor... it proves that the people "investigating fraud" are not doing so in good faith.
When so many states make it almost impossible to track/prove fraud, it might not even prove that much.
Where I live in L.A., all I'd need to know is first/last name and street address of up to 10 other "male" names who either didn't vote or voted only by mail in a county with a population of 10 million, and I could have cast/replaced all of their votes in the span of under 2 hours yesterday. Not only are the poll workers prohibited from asking for ID at the "voting places", but voting in person automatically supersedes the mail-in ballot which everyone was sent without asking for one. I don't know if there's any confirmation sent to the voter when the mail ballot is processed, but there's no notification sent when someone votes in person on your name/address. As long as I cleaned my hands with enough alcohol (maybe a bit of acetone mixed in) to keep the oils off my fingertips, or covered the prints with glue there'd be literally no evidence that anyone other than the poll workers ever touched the paper ballot that's retained by the voting machine (at best, they could maybe use cell phone records to prove the person I claimed to be wasn't near where their ballot was cast, but they'd have to think to look).
The only real disincentive to vote fraud in CA is that the races are all so non-competitive that it'd take thousands of people all doing this to ten other voters, with no overlap, to possibly affect the outcome of even a state assembly district election. Instead of safeguarding democracy, we get indirect protection via gerrymandering and hopelessness.
A cynic might believe that Republican partisans—from Maloney to Tucker Carlson to Trump himself—are deliberately spreading lies and exaggerating claims of voter fraud to sow doubt that could metastasize into full-blown chaos later this month.
They're smart enough to know that they're telling lies. The people who believe and spread those lies, not so much.
Which specific lies?
There's one.
Hey dude, I got an email about my company xmas party, and get this!! It says there will be a raffle, but they’re giving everyone a free ticket! Can you fucking believe that???? It’s obviously a sweepstakes! How can they gaslight us like that?
I’m debating going to HR over it; can you advise?
No, it’s a lottery!
Now I'm even more confused.
Shirley Jackson style?
What lies?
Why are you incapable of defending your own assertions?
Hey, how about this?
https://x.com/battleofever/status/1849927904148238426
#VoterFraud discovered on 2500+ last-minute #Voting applications with same handwriting & fake addresses in #Pennsylvania.
And it’s happening in other PA counties too. So what that, you drunken cunt?
It’s ok if the democrats do it first?
It is always okay if democrats do it. It is just wrong if the GOP responds.
How many other countries have had their elections fortified by the US? That is by the very definition "wide spread".
Sister Schmidt will have nun of that!
Two options: break the (for sale, so definitely not) secret ballot, or paper voting only.
“No one speeds in our town “ says Mayor who won’t let cops go on highway, won’t buy them radar, and has the judge dismiss all tickets
This.
"Voter Fraud Is Rare, but Many Americans Believe Their Votes Won't Be Counted Correctly"
Truth in headlines:
Voter Fraud Is Real, So Many Americans Believe Their Votes Won't Be Counted Correctly
The propaganda machine is laying the groundwork for when Harris gets just enough votes to win, no matter how blatantly they have to cheat.
And by propaganda machine you mean Reason magazine? They are but a cog in the machine but they're doing their best.
In Kamala's election for CA AG she nearly lost to a Republican DA and it took 3 weeks to find and count enough votes to barely put her over the top.
How many dicks can she suck in three weeks?
More than the owl from the tootsie roll commercials, that's for sure.
Hey Boehm! Would you like to explain the fraudulent voter registrations being found in Pennsylvania? How about the County that Trump won the extension for early voting because they were throwing people out of line at 2PM when they didn't close until 5. Under State law if you are in line by closing time, they have to let you cast your ballot.
But "line" has several different definitions. /Jeffy
We all know that the democrats engage in massive widespread voter fraud. Shills like Boehm are just de facto democrat propagandists. As are paid lowlifes like Pedo Jeffy.
Here is one reason people who feel that the 2020 election was stolen feel the way that they do.
They have been told that the 2016 election was stolen by a few hundred thousand dollars’ worth of Facebook ads bought by the Russians®™ acting in concert and participation with Donald J. Trump.
The federal law enforcement and intelligence establishments gave the illusion of credibility to 2016 election trutherism.
Both the Clinton campaign and Kevin Clinesmith admitted to committing crimes to further 2016 election trutherism.
In 2018, two-thirds of Democratic voters felt that the Russians®™ actually changed the vote totals.
Think about it.
If this side was willing to violate campaign finance laws and laws against forgery on a delegitimization campaign against Trump, what wouldn’t they do to win the 2020 election?
If Team Trump as willing to march on the Capital to stop the certification of the 2020 election, what will they do if he loses again?
Another march on the Capitol.
Of course, that is private action.
What did happen in 2016 was this.
https://reason.com/2023/05/16/for-6-5-million-durham-report-finds-fbi-didnt-have-solid-dirt-on-trump-and-russia/
Federal law enforcement and intelligence resources were used to give the illusion of credibility to 2016 election trutherism.
The Clinton campaign admitted to breaking campaign finance laws.
A lawyer for the FBI admitted to breaking laws against forgery.
Misbehavior during protests was not as damaging as the actions by federal law enforcement for four years.
You don’t think the Trump campaign and his lawyers haven’t broken laws including campaign finance, forgery, perjury, defamation and then some? (or is it ok because Democrats did it first?)
Neither side is innocent here.
People like myself condemn them both (yes, contrary to the lies spread by the liars in the comments I found the Facederp conspiracy to be a joke as well as everyone who promoted it), whereas partisans excuse their side while making the other out to be something unique and evil.
So you’ve gone from ‘isn’t happening’ to ‘Boaf sidez’? I suppose even your drunk, retarded ass can see all the democrat fraud being exposed. So now you pivot.
What a worthless democrat shill you are.
Lol.
You are full of shit. You condemn one side then applaud abuses of state against that side.
You’re a fucking leftist joke sarc.
He might even whip up his supporters into shooting at the opposing candidate!
I'm actually surprised no Trump supporters have taken shots at the communist, socialist, fascist, immigrant-loving evil that stole the election and is running against him.
If he loses again though, all bets are off. They'll be fighting fire with fire.
It will be time for the democrats to go away.
Defends dem assassin's by imagining the evil of his enemy.
Remember guys. Sarc isn't a Democrat who blinding repeats msnbc psaki talking points.
So a right winger posted something that less than true, or outright false, to support his convictions and further his agenda? That ranks right up there with being "shocked that there is gambling in this establishment!". Next thing you will be telling us is that left wingers are blaming, without any real critical thinking, damn near every weather event on "climate change".
It is election season... the season where candidates are going to turn every single mole hill they can find into majestic mountain ranges.
Sadly, we have a press core who largely acts more like proselytizing preachers than journalists with even a modicum of integrity, so these things tend to get echoed ad nauseum.
As far as election integrity? I have no idea how wide spread it is. I do know that I trust the AP to be impartial about this about as much as I'd trust Harvey Weinstein with my daughter.
What I do believe is, considering the importance of elections, I don't think it is to much to ask for voting to be dowe in person, with an ID, and with a level of auditing that you can find in the average ATM machine.
A cynic might believe that Republican partisans—from Maloney to Tucker Carlson to Trump himself—are deliberately spreading lies and exaggerating claims of voter fraud to sow doubt that could metastasize into full-blown chaos later this month.
That is exactly the plan.
Says the leftwing partisan desperate to make sure his team's actions are never looked into.
Can you just imagine how much Jeffy himself has to hide?
I hope they look at his D: drive one day.
No Pedo Jeffy (can I just call you ‘Pedo’? I feel we’ve gotten to know each other enough for that). Pedo, that’s what you do. You’re lying trash. And now you’re spinning desperately because all of your fraud is starting to come out. So you will continue to become more shrill and vicious, like the rabid creature you are.
"The address in question is a monastery."
Sorry, but monks and brothers live in monasteries. Nuns and sisters live in convents.
Not sure where you learned that, but it isn't true and both nuns and monks live in monasteries.
The big difference tends to be monasteries tend to house those who live lives of solitude and apart from society (which is also why you tend to find nuns and monks with multiple PHDs at a lot of these).
Convents and cloisters tend to be more community based and are often have schools and hospitals.
I defer to your superior knowledge. I suspect, however, that if you found a monastery where nuns were living that they would not refer to their part of the monastery as "the monastery."
I lived in Africa for 40 years. The countries I lived in went to extraordinary lengths to secure elections including biometric voter ID in Ghana. Rare is irrelevant because it only takes a little to start and spread mistrust. Yet we continually hear the "it's rare" response. Learn what Africans already know and what should be obvious - that argument doesn't change anything and never will.
"even in a super competitive state like Pennsylvania—are virtually nonexistent, "
It's so fun we've moved from "It doesn't happen!" to "well, it rarely happens!" One step closer to the truth I guess.
https://x.com/Athan_K/status/1852160439221669892
Lancaster, York, Monroe, and Cambria Counties in Pennsylvania are investigating an alleged voter fraud scheme.
Additional Pennsylvania counties may announce fraud investigations tomorrow.
We may have a system that doesn't allow much fraud or shenanigans but if people don't believe it, then it doesn't count for much. Continuing to tell people they're wrong when there's been no real investigation or audit that can actually prove it one way or another is insufficient for obvious reasons.
Add to that, one party that significantly goes out of its way to prevent any accountability or transparency for no apparent reason other than possibly cheating does not help.
Not only that, the government is completely involved in making sure everyone votes (non-voting is a completely legit option!) when the government ought to be agnostic. Rather than trying to make 1000 different ways to vote, make everyone vote on a single day (with limited exceptions applied for in advance). When we did that, people had a lot more faith in the results.
Who cares whether turnout is big or small? If people don't much care who wins, that's not a sign of electoral sickness. It's likely very healthy. Having the vast majority of the country obsessing over politics isn't healthy.
https://unherd.com/2024/11/is-trump-right-to-fear-election-fraud/
I'm just going to post an excerpt because it's worth reading. It's stuff we all know, but it's said well:
"Trump saw the manner of his election defeat as a personal affront. Not only was the pausing of the ballot count on election night an assault on the constitutional rights of Americans, feeding suspicions that illegal ballots were being added to the tally to boost Joe Biden — but it was Trump who was the mark. He was cheated, and so were you, he told the 74 million Americans who voted for him, and they, too, felt the sting of a public humiliation. As I explain in my new book, Disappearing the President, Trump and his supporters were disenfranchised together in front of the whole world.
It’s an insult they haven’t forgotten. Most Americans are heading into the 2024 election convinced that the outcome will be affected by cheating. Polls show that 66% of the electorate are very or somewhat concerned that the vote will be compromised, including 55% of Democratic voters, 58% of Independents, and 83% of Republicans. The reason voters are worried, rightly, about the integrity of the coming election is because Trump has never stopped talking about the last one.
Does this mean that the 2020 vote was rigged? Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer who founded the Election Integrity Network, framed the problem cautiously on social media. “The election process was taken over by leftwing activist groups who had burrowed into election systems across the country by the time of the 2020 election,” she wrote recently. “And they manipulated the election system in myriad ways in state after state.”
“Most Americans are heading into the 2024 election convinced that the outcome will be affected by cheating.”
Perhaps the most significant of these tactics was mass mail-in voting, instituted ostensibly to accommodate voters’ concerns about public gatherings during the pandemic. Previously, Democrats and Republicans agreed that mail-in ballots facilitated fraud. A 2005 bipartisan report chaired by former president Jimmy Carter and one-time Secretary of State James Baker assessed that “absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud”.
But that was all memory-holed for the 2020 vote — indeed, it was censored. The Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies banned social media posts questioning the integrity of mail-in voting. The reality is that the Covid-era measures made voting by mail even more susceptible to fraud."
Voter fraud is a fact of life in any democracy, but it is usually the result of carelessness on the part of single voters or ballot-counters
English much?
Fraud is never the result of carelessness, because it is, by definition, an intentional act.
Negligence is the result of carelessness.
Something just occurred to me…
Isn’t it a bit weird that on a website that is occupied by a bunch of attorneys the provenance of a ballot doesn’t really seem to matter?
No attorney would except the provenance of evidence where:
Someone who cannot be verified requested the ballot.
Someone who cannot be verified filled it out (signature match? really?).
Someone who cannot be verified dropped it in a box.
Several someone’s who work at USPS handle it (is there any sort of audit trail for a ballot in the USPS?).
The fact that a lot of folks don’t trust that isn’t all to surprising. That any attorneys do trust that is shocking.
Most attorneys are democrats. So it isn’t about trust. It’s about being self serving.
A cynic might believe that Democrat partisans--who fight each and every recount, audit, security measure tooth and nail--are, in actuality, trying to cover stuff up.
If the system is so robust and secure that virtually no fraud exists, then deep-dive audits are not going to uncover anything, right?
So, at worst, they are simply a waste of time and money. But the same can be said for IRS audits of taxpayers and annual business accounting practices audits.
But such audits increase faith in the system, and provides further disincentives for people to try to cheat (if they believe they will be caught). At best, the expenditure of time and money helps keep people running the system honest and provides some foundation for belief in the system.
So, why do certain people continue to fight, fight, fight, every...single...effort?
US pollster Edison says Georgia election results suggest ‘manipulation of the vote’
U.S. data and polling firm Edison Research said on Friday that the differences between an exit poll it conducted of Georgia’s election on Saturday and the official results of the vote “cannot be explained by normal variation alone and suggests local-level manipulation of the vote.”
Oh, wait, this is in Tbilisi, not Atlanta.
Reason might just as well post articles pointing out that there's no evidence for the Resurrection. Believers gonna believe, and they don't need any steenkin' evidence.
https://hereistheevidence.com/
https://hereisabullshitwebsite.com
When it mattered, i.e., in actual court cases, Trump's people could provide no evidence. Outside court, of course, people are free to lie as much as they want, and people like you are free to believe them, gullible as you are.
This is false. Trumps team won over a dozens suits shrike. You've been given the links. They just were nit adjudication to alter the election.
Good dem you are shrike.
Heard this crap before. You have never provided links.
Yeah, he has. You’re either lying, or not paying attention. Probably both.
No, I seen this before the reference to links but never showing them. If he has links, then provide them here.
As I've blocked JesseAz I can't see the shite he posts, but I presume that fuckwit is conflating voting lawsuits prior to the election with the post-election lawsuits. It's a standard dishonest tactic of his.
Hey shrike admit you're shrike and I'll post yet again.
Agreed. Believe in voter fraud is not based on evidence but on faith.
Tally Counts aren't based on evidence but on faith.
The 'evidence' on the last election points in one way more than the other.
Yet when Trump lawyers were specifically asked in court whether thet were alleging fraud they said no, Trump did not join the Texas SC case and in an amicus brief did not claim fraud, and not a single post-2020 election case found fraud.
So your belief is faith-based.
Which case shrike? There were over 60. My guess is you are referring to one statement from the case against the voting machine companies. Not the other myriad of cases.
You democrats like to take one sentence and apply it to the whole demanding all other issues be concluded if 1 of many is.
It’s because they’re liars and they all know that they cheat. But the first rule of being a con artist is to NEVER give up the con. Even when caught.
And a shrike is one of the most dishonest members of all democratkind.
You and shrike have faith that elections are the one non corrupt part of government. Maduro needs more citizens like you two in Venezuela. I'll buy your tickets.
Concerns about voter fraud were insignificant like the problem until Donald Trump arrived. Even when he won in 2016, he calmed that voter fraud prevented him from winning the popular vote. The Republicans who, bowing to the master, most often complain about fraud never question their own election. Their own victory is never questioned, only Trump's loss. If a group did succeed in a large-scale fraud, why limit it to one office? Why not take the Presidency, the House and get a 60 vote majority in the Senate?
For the same reason pick-pockets don't wave flags & guns?
You are suggesting that those committing fraud are so good that it cannot be detected but then limiting it to a single office. The idea is silly. If you're going to take the chance go big.
They can be detected and were by over half of the citizen jury (polls).
Your suggestion that it doesn't exist because it didn't go BIG ENOUGH is the silly idea.
It's so RARE to see Trumps vote count being reduced on live-TV.
It's so RARE to see governors thwart election laws by executive fiat.
It's so RARE to see suitcases under covered tables filled with ballots.
It's so RARE to see after-hours counting going on.
It's so RARE to see mail-in run 80%+ contrast with in-person in the same district.
It's so RARE ..... It's just not happening!!! /s
And where are all those successful lawsuits challenging the results? Plenty of Trump judges heard cases and none of them found fraud.
You should try connecting with reality from time to time. It can be painful, but the pizza's pretty good.
Thrown out for lack of standing.
Plenty of Trump judges heard cases
That is false. Almost all the cases never got to trial. The evidence was never presented in court.
It is not false if we're talking about the Trump post-election cases - which we were. There were about 60. About two thirds were thrown our for lack of standing, one or two were going to be thrown out but the judge addressed the merits as well - there were none - and the rest were decided on the merits.
There was plenty of opportunity to present evidence of fraud. No such evidence was supplied - and as I noted above, when Trump attorneys were specifically asked in court whether they were alleging fraud - and where they had to tell the truth - they said no.
And as I also noted above, Trump's team produced no evidence at thr SC either.
Faith-based, as I said.
No amount of evidence and down-right in-dismisable illegal activity (Governor Executive Fiat) would make you ever question your Holy-Biden win.
That's why you have to use judges "don't have authority here" and "too scared to look at the evidence" rulings to justify your pathetic stance instead of using real evidence.
Uhm...
... pick one. Fraud is a willful act. You cannot, with any degree of intellectual honestly, claim that fraud is in any way a result of carelessness.
Discrepancies are either fraud or carelessness, but never both. Now, someone can carelessly commit fraud, likely getting caught in the process, but fraud is never caused by carelessness.
Fraud happens but it is very rare as the numbers indicate and it does often happen by human error. In 2020, a number of cases of fraud were reported in Wisconsin. The cases involved a limited number of individuals that register their address as post office boxes which is not allowed. These individuals had the right to vote and did not attempt to vote more than they were allowed. They simple did not understand the voting requirements. So yes people committee fraud unintentionally by carelessness.
https://www.wpr.org/politics/5-charged-voter-fraud-fond-du-lac-county-after-listing-po-box-registration
It isn’t rare. Human error isn’t “fraud’. Fraud requires intent. And your anecdote has nothing to do with the widespread fraud across all the battleground states.
But then, you’re a serial liar that has been thoroughly discredited here. You are also kind of dumb too.
Well 475 in 25 million seem pretty rare.
Again you conflate acts of fraud with convictions for fraud. Nobody ever jaywalks either.
> Fraud happens but it is very rare as the numbers indicate and it does often happen by human error.
Fraud is a willful act with intention to deceive. It simply cannot be a case of human error. Quit redefining shit to fit a narrative.
Let's say that "real" voter fraud is rare. There's about a million reasons why we must not be satisfied with the systems we have...
From 2020, and not Trump/Biden...
The undecided House race between Rep. Anthony Brindisi and Claudia Tenney has exposed deep flaws in New York’s election system that undermine public faith in the state’s electoral process, voting rights advocates say.
Those advocates say they will push for a series of state election reforms next year to make sure that the debacle in New York’s 22nd Congressional District won’t be repeated.
The vote count has been marked by a series of bizarre twists, including missing ballots that suddenly surfaced, lost sticky notes that had been attached to ballots, a lack of transparency and a frustrated judge – all calling into question the competency of election officials.
Those underlying problems were exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, when a record number of New Yorkers took advantage of a new state law allowing any registered voter to obtain an absentee ballot and vote by mail.
“What calls out and screams for reform is that coming into the pandemic New York was not ready for prime time,” said Jarret Berg, a New York election lawyer who works to expand voter access and transparency in elections. “We were not ready for hundreds of thousands of people to vote this way.”
Over the past three weeks, there have been a series of turns in the counting of 60,000 absentee ballots in some of the eight counties in the 22nd District.
During that time, Brindisi erased Tenney’s election night lead of 28,422 votes. As votes were counted and mistakes corrected, the two candidates took turns leading the unofficial vote tally.
Lawyers for both campaigns muddied the process by challenging the validity of at least 809 ballots, a total that continued to grow ahead of the court hearing.
In Oneida County, election officials lost sticky notes attached to a stack of ballots disputed by campaign lawyers. Election officials admitted in court that without the notes they had no way to explain the reasons why the ballots were challenged or if they had been counted.
Madison County election officials didn’t make any markings on about 130 disputed absentee ballots, and instead gave the judge a spreadsheet that he couldn’t figure out.
Neither county followed a state law that requires election officials to note the reasons for the objection in ink on the back of the ballots.
Even after the judge asked the eight counties to submit final vote totals this week, Herkimer County election officials said they had to correct an error. Brindisi picked up 10 votes and Tenney 35 votes.
Then Chenango County reported that it found 55 uncounted affidavit ballots that had been “mislaid” at the Board of Elections office.
All of the confusion prompted a frustrated state Supreme Court Justice Scott J. DelConte to declare in court that he didn’t know how it would be possible to come up with an accurate vote count when some counties couldn’t provide accurate information.
So it took MONTHS to resolve the case, with Tenney eventually being declared the winner.
And then this happened...
If you haven't figured out just how big a bitch Pelosi is you will after reading this.......
------------------ [I've lost the original attribution in my notes, sorry]-----
In a bit of news that received almost no MSM coverage last month,
Republicans picked up another seat in the US House of representatives.
Let that sink in for just a moment. It took until February 5,
2021—three full months after the November election—for a House race to conclude in the courts. Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) had to appeal the election results up to the New York Supreme Court, which finally ruled that she was the winner over incumbent Democrat Rep. Anthony Brindisi.
The outcome of that election was only decided because there was an audit of the votes in Tenney’s district. Just sayin’!
So, Rep. Tenney was sworn in as the newest member of Congress February 11.
Members of Congress are typically allowed to bring family members to watch when they take their oath of office. But the number of guests inside the Capitol is limited right now, with coronavirus being the excuse. Anyway, Rep. Tenney chose to have her son come and watch her being sworn in.
House Speaker Nancy Piglosi (D-CA) denied that request. She refused to allow Rep. Tenney’s adult son to attend the ceremony, on the grounds that he is a dangerous security threat.
Wait, what?
Who is Rep. Tenney’s son? Is he some QAnon blogger or a member of the Proud Boys? Does he read Breitbart News (or this website)? Does he have an NRA card? Does he own a hat with buffalo horns on it?!
Actually, Congresswoman Tenney’s adult son is an officer in the US
Navy. The guy attended the US Naval Academy and received one of the finest military educations still available in America. He’s served his country since roughly 2013.
Right before he deployed to Iraq in 2017, President Donald Trump
personally called him to wish him well.
Tenney’s son likely has a fairly high-level security clearance at
this point in his career. He’s also been vetted by the military to a
level of much more scrutiny than the average person will ever go
through. Yet Nancy Pelosi has branded this US Naval Officer a security threat to the very same Congress that Tenney’s son has a sworn oath to defend.
This goes far beyond the normal political pettiness that we’ve all
come to expect from the Democrat Party. This is ominous.
If a US naval officer is being branded a security threat and is not
allowed to enter Congress just to watch his own mother’s swearing-in ceremony, what do you suppose the people in charge think about you?
Pure politics I’d say. Sad Piglosi denied his being able to support
his mom at her swearing in to the House.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tenney-pelosi-swearing/
Snopes says ""Unproven: The son of Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney of New York was not allowed to view her swearing-in ceremony with Pelosi; but the assertion that this decision was made with no reason given and without any discussion of COVID-19, as Tenney has claimed, relies on conversations that lack a documentary record."
I think I tend to believe Rep. Tenney and not Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi is an evil, vindictive cunt.
Are you stupid, or just stupid? Concerns about voter fraud aren't about counting votes legitimately cast at a legitimate polling place; they're about dead people and illegal immigrants and vote farming and phony mail-in ballots and all the other standard libterd tricks. Are you unaware of how LBJ and JFK and every corrupt pol in Chicago got elected? Nixon's loss in the 1960 election? Voter fraud and concerns about it aren't new; demorats have been defrauding America forever. Why is it that lubbertarians are so ignorant of history?
The danger to American democracy is not from fraudulent voting but, rather, from political machines having the power to limit the range of choices of candidates for the voters to choose from. How many times have we heard that us deplorables would be too confused by any system offering more than two options? The same argument could be made that having even as many as two options would be too confusing for us 'Muricans, but we rarely hear politicians willing to admit that the ballots should only have one candidate for each office on them. As many as forty-five percent of the voters do not get to vote for the representative of their choice in EVERY election because of the two-party system.
I agree with your comment. The only way I see to strip major parties of their power is by nonpartisan redistricting and by rank choice voting. I expect neither to happen soon.
The one recent incident of voter fraud I am aware of occurred in North Carolina in the 2018 election for US Representative for the 9th district. You can see more details from the following link.
"The State Board of Elections on Thursday unanimously ordered a new election in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District and two local contests in Bladen County.
The bipartisan, 5-0 vote came after Republican candidate Mark Harris, who had led Democrat Dan McCready by 905 votes, conceded during his testimony that the public’s confidence had been undermined to such an extent that a new election was warranted.'

Voter fraud, just like crime, aren't counted if they're not reported.
https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/10/30/chinese-university-of-michigan-college-student-voted-presidential-election-michigan-china-benson/75936701007/
"The student's ballot is expected to count in the upcoming election — although it was illegally cast — because there is no way for election officials to retrieve it once it's been put through a tabulator, according to two sources familiar with Michigan election laws. The setup is meant to prevent ballots from being tracked back to an individual voter.
It takes zero effort to put "yes" on the section that asks if you're a citizen. Let me put on my libertarian hat and say that I don't believe a government that runs the DMV was able to verify the citizenship status of the registrants at a near 100% accuracy. Virginia purged 1,600 noncitzen registration in their voter rolls. The fact of that most of them were citizens who made errors on the registration is not the issue. The fact that the state did not act upon it is.
Any forensic audit into election integrity would have counted the vote of this student and other noncitizens who snuck past the firewall. It's astounding to me that writers here would take internal police investigation with a grain of salt, but take government claims of foolproof election at face value.
I worked as a temp worker (phone bank) at a local registrar of voters. I was told that newly moved in residents call in saying that they're getting ballots addressed to people who moved out of state. Or someone who moved out still got CA ballots. If these ballots were cast, they would be COUNTED.
It's maybe the easiest click-bait headline of all. Like all the other assholes commenting, I checked it out. I think the author is a conceited prick. Alas, he's one up on me.
Mail in ballots should be illegal. Unless you have a doctor's note or in the military overseas, you get your ass in, show an ID and vote.
My folks were in the local democratic party in Rochester NY for years (My Dad was on the town zoning board) and they told me how it used to work..the rural and burbs would always report votes first and then the Dem party bosses knew the numbers to beat and voila..unless it was a blowout for the GOP, the magical votes the dems needed always appeared at 2am.
My Mom died in 2000, last year at my parent's old home address a letter from the Monroe Country Executive arrived (a Dem) congratulating her on reaching 100 years old. This made no sense so i investigated. Turns out my mom has been on the voting rolls 25 years post death and likely (they would not confirm to me) an active voter...if so I wonder what party she has been voting for? ha ha
Fraud exists, mail in ballots are an avalanche of fraud.
"Would not confirm to you?" Just go online and see dumbass.

Nobody listens to the Gateway Dumbshit. Jim Hoft is the least credible person in the world.
Yea, even factoring in Alex Jones, Don Lemon, Joe & Mika, Potato Seltzer, and the entire cast of The View.
He's that bad.
Yeah that's why you look at other sources. The Pundit has links to outside sources and of course you can Google it. I don't believe anything on the net until I check it myself.
The title of the article is questionable: how does the author know that vote fraud is rare? Saying doesn't make it so.
