Little hope left: In Ukraine, the situation is growing increasingly dire. The two-plus years of Russian invasion have depleted military resources; the $60.8 billion aid package approved by U.S. lawmakers last month, and stalled by several months of congressional infighting by Republicans, has not reached Ukraine yet.
"All of our forces are either [in Kharkiv] or in Chasiv Yar," said Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence agency. "I've used everything we have. Unfortunately, we don't have anyone else in the reserves."
Chasiv Yar is some 100-plus miles south of Kharkiv, the country's second-largest city. Winning it would be Russia's "most operationally significant advance since the first summer of the war in 2022," reports The New York Times. "If Chasiv Yar falls, the Russians will be able to use its hilltop position to batter the key remaining Ukrainian-controlled cities in the Donetsk region: Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Druzhkivka and Kostiantynikva," reports The Guardian.
Ukrainians "admit they are outgunned and outnumbered by an enemy with combat jets and seemingly unlimited firepower," adds The Guardian. "The Russians are willing to tolerate huge losses of tanks and men to capture tiny settlements, deploying infantry in what are known as bloody 'meat assaults.'"
Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Ukraine right now, meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. A senior U.S. official, speaking to the Times about the meetings, refused to "draw a direct connection between the delayed aid and Russia's gains near the city of Kharkiv" but "[made] clear that the gap in funding had left Ukraine, whose military is starved for ammunition and other critical equipment, weakened." Zelensky, in the meetings with Blinken, emphasized how Ukraine's air defense is weak—something Russia is exploiting, as Vladimir Putin's troops continue to pulverize the country.
It's always a little crazy when American outlets and politicians (President Joe Biden included) blame Russia's advancement on U.S. lawmakers' inability to agree on an aid package for Ukraine; of course, these things are connected, but it's also a normal and even healthy part of the democratic process for massive cash infusions to other nations' war efforts be deliberated over, not automatic.
Meanwhile, things are so bad there that Estonia is reportedly mulling sending troops in to serve in non-combat roles in western Ukraine and free up forces to go fight on the eastern front. It's really not clear how any of this ends, but Ukraine is signaling that they can't hold off Russian troops forever, let alone much longer.
Scenes from New York: This book (my subway reading) is excellent. Also, I am in it (called by a different name). Props if you can figure it out.

- "In mid-March, the U.N. Children's Fund stated that 13,450 children had been killed in Gaza, citing figures from the Hamas-run Gazan Health Ministry," according to Jewish News Syndicate. But "last Wednesday, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released updated casualty figures. Some 7,797 Gazan children had died in the war as of April 30, it said—a roughly 42% drop from the mid-March numbers."

Gotta wonder when Kiev is cooked, it’ll be chicken.
You know what the Ukraine is? It's a sitting duck. A road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak. It's feeble. I think it's time to put the hurt on the Ukraine.
Ukraine is game to you?! Howbout I take your little board and smash it!!
I wonder if Blinken told Ukraine how THEY should be fighting.
Blinken may have told the color revolution agents in Georgia (the country in the Caucasus and not the state where the resident pedophile lives) to shit disturb over the proposed foreign agent registration legislation.

===
EXCLUSIVE: I spent four months investigating the web of NGOs facilitating the Biden Administration's migrant crisis. These taxpayer-funded groups are pulling in billions of dollars and lavishing themselves with salaries and bonuses.
Here's how they're cashing in.

Congress has spent more money on interest so far this year than it has spent on both national defense and Medicare.
Spending on net interest hit $514 billion in the first seven months of fiscal year 2024. That's more than spending on both national defense ($498 billion) and Medicare ($465 billion). Medicare is the federal health insurance program for those 65 and older and younger people with disabilities. During the same time period, the U.S. spent $873 billion on Social Security, the federal program that provides retirement, disability, survivor, and family benefits to more than 67 million Americans.
Overall spending has totaled $3.9 trillion so far this fiscal year.
"Spending on interest is also more than all the money spent this year on veterans, education, and transportation combined," according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
U.S. interest spending is expected to increase in the coming years. In March, the Congressional Budget Office projected "interest costs more than double in relation to GDP between 2024 and 2054, driven by rising interest rates and growing debt."
In February, a report from the U.S Government Accountability Office found federal spending is projected to remain unsustainable in the decades to come.
"The federal government faces an unsustainable long-term fiscal path," according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office report. "We project that debt held by the public as a share of the economy will more than double over the next 30 years and will grow faster than the economy over the long term if current revenue and spending policies are not changed."
Interesting….
Fun fact: in 2023 the feds would have had a small surplus if not for Medicaid, federal "income security", and "other" mandatory social spending. They had more than enough to cover defense, discretionary spending, interest, Social Security, and Medicare.
It's been that way for a very long time. If the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services actually spent what they took in, we'd have had a surplus for years.
If we used the spending from 2018 --- which was already way too high --- we'd not be running deficits.
Congress has spent more money on interest so far this year than it has spent on both national defense and Medicare.
Yep, this was always going to be the danger point of taking out so much leverage--at some point, the debt service is going to exceed revenues. Even the vaunted Bowles-Simpson spending plan that shriek likes to bring up every so often didn't actually provide a net zero or surplus budget.
According to the big brains on Reddit finance subs, the answer is to tax billionaires more.

why men do it all and what to do about it
Workplace Fatalities: Men disproportionately affected
Forbes:
Looking at 139 separate occupations and discrete industries, an obvious pattern quickly emerges: the safest workplaces are indoors and the safest occupations frequently require education beyond high school. The most deadly occupations, on the other hand, are outside and often involve operating equipment. This largely drives the huge difference in workplace fatalities between men and women, with 4,761 men dying on the job compared to 386 women in 2017. The fatality rate for men was about 10 times that of women: 5.7 per 100,000 vs. 0.6 per 100,000 for women.
The four most dangerous occupations were in commercial fishing, logging, aircraft pilots, and roofers. Regarding pilots and flight engineers, 59 died at work in 2017. That noted, air travel is far safer than other modes of transportation—most of these unfortunate deaths involved smaller aircraft such as helicopters, rather than large commercial airliners.
I will give more shits about how life is unfair to women when they work harder to achieve life span equity.
And prison equity. Women just aren't pulling their weight when it comes to criminality.
Just look at the inequality when it comes to hernias and prostate cancer.
California has the solution to that. They' just allowed male prisoners to "identify" as such and get moved into the womens' jail/prison.
To the surprise of nobody outside of the CA Dem Party and Newsom Administration, the rate of pregnancies (and likely rapes) in the womens' prisons increased rapidly in a very short amount of time following the onset of the policy. Maybe someone should wonder why there were 1700+ "transgender" female inmates in the first 3 years (more than triple the rate of trans-identification before it became a ticket for sex predators to get locked into a building full of "prey"), but fewer than 300 who have requested the opportunity to take up the State's offer for fully taxpayer-funded "correction" surgeries. Curious that over 80% of the prisoners who claim to actually be women want to keep their "manhood"...
safest occupations require education beyond high school
How can this be? I thought college education was basically worthless by now.
Unemployment is very safe.
Your side basically admitted it when you started demanding debt jubilees.
There is other education beyond high school besides college. And it's only about half of degrees that are totally worthless.
Try and run the world without those jobs that only require a high school diploma moron.
Eloi don't understand.
Must demand reparations.
The most dangerous job in NC is road construction...Overwhelmingly men.
And their job isn't made easier by Statists and Collectivists as they schizophrenically say "Who will build the roads?" and at the same time neglect the infrastructure and let the latest protesters clog up the roadways and make things even more dangerous.
Do you have anything in more of an instructional video format?
Men will stop doing it when it becomes too costly in terms of life, limb, and misery. Maybe Putin and the Putineers will get that message when they over-extend and lose too much blood and treasure.
Same likewise with Hamas when they can't sell more young men on Jew-Hatred and "pie-in-the-sky-in-the-sweet-by-and-by."

Seems like it's Ukraine that can't feed the neocon meat grinder. I met a Ukrainian draft dodger a couple weeks ago. Wife and kids in Poland while he tries to put a business together here. All you have to do is buy cheesy poofs in bulk. And give up spittin terbacky.
I tried to tell this earlier when the Roundup had a story about people retiring at 62 came out. Somebody just clicked to stop spending on useless shit, but when food, fuel, transportation, and shelter, it's a bit of a bitch.

I don’t do anything fancy with my investments— just max out 401k and HSA contributions and invest that money in index funds. Been doing that for ~30 years.
I checked. S&P500 is up 7.4% since you can reasonably assign your responsibility to Biden for economic performance (Jan 2022). Inflation, OTOH, averaged 4.5%. Question: if I am making 7.4% and inflation is at 4.5% should I pack up my bags and move to Argentina so I can get away from inflation and live in a country run by Mr. Libertarian?

Fuckin' LOL. You're really trying this smoke and mirrors false comparison to make it seem like inflation isn't a problem?
The S&P increase doesn't mean shit unless it's actual money in the bank. That's just assessed value. It doesn't exist. It doesn't become real until you sell the stock at the assessed value. That's why your moron ally Elizabeth Warren thinks she's being clever by taxing "wealth," when she isn't actually doing anything other than demanding that people sell assets at appraised values, which subsequently lowers the value of the asset.
Meanwhile, inflation affects things that require actual money to purchase. It doesn't have shit to do with your stock portfolio, and if you're having to sell stocks to buy groceries, you're in a lot more trouble than you're letting on.
Lisa Selvin Davis..oh the typical NYC Yenta who attacks anything traditional...questioning gender norms for boys and girls.. It really gets old the same old folks attacking the normalcy which came from thousands of years of human society. Are women really happier since 1960? 70% of divorces are initiated by woman. All of my friends married career wives..all are close to 60 and ALL regret not marrying a traditional woman...maybe a schoolteacher or just a housewife.
Estonia send in your platoon...the Big Red Man Machine is marching east..EU leaders are fragile, passive aggressive yellers...
So your real return is 2.9% with POTUS Biden. ARG is all you will be able to afford at that real return rate. Glad you are well-adjusted.
Under POTUS Trump, real returns were > 13% annually during his term.
Under POTUS Trump, real returns were > 13% annually during his term.
Bull. Shit.
No, bullshit is what you typically peddle here.
SPB2, try math.
He got kicked out of third grade. And that was just last week.
Yup, my overall portfolio was doing an easy 15-20% per year under Trump. With Biden its barely impressive considering inflation.
Paul Krugman will come along to assure me that math and numbers are wrong though and im actually better off
S&P500 in January, 2018= 2810
S&P500 in January, 2022= 4398
R=ln(A/Ao)/t
R is rate of return
A is current amount
Ao is amount in past
t is time
R=ln(4398/2810)/4=0.112. So 11.2% increase during Trump’s term. I recall doing a similar calf for Obama and I think the number was around 10.8%
WTF? Do you struggle with calendars? Try this.
S&P 500 Feb 2016, ~1900
S&P 500 Feb 2020, ~3400
That yields a 14.5% return.
Don't go there. Math is racist.
This feels like a shrike sock.
No, he's obviously a seasonal shill here for the campaign. He showed up like a week ago, but he's here every day now calling anyone who criticizes Biden a MAGA White Supremifier.
He came as a pre grey box and I mute very few people.
Must be nice to be married to a lawyer and have the disposable income necessary to max out investment and not to have to make the choice between gassing up your car to get to work or pay bills. Another ivory tower elite who is here to lecture the holly-polly on how they're just not managing the money very well.
BTW, I have a master's degree and am solidly middle class, even have some disposable income but I also know a lot of people who are struggling far worse than I am. I don't look down on them, because I know my grocery bill has gone from about $250/pay period under Trump to $400/pay period and we're buying less too.
Glad to know it’s not just my family.
You checked, eh?
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:
The Consumer Price Index was 307.051 in November 2023, 17% higher than the 261.582 it was in January 2021.
Popular S&P index funds such as SPY, VOO, and IVV averaged between 9.90% and 9.97% over the same period. Maybe check again, fuckstick.
Repeating a post earlier from Spiked.com:
“It is the board of directors of La Leche League that is insisting the British division of its charity take the knee to the gender cult. It will surprise not one living soul that the board is based in the US. According to the Telegraph, they’ve instructed LLLGB that their services ‘cannot be single sex’ and they must agree to offer advice on ‘male lactation’. Perhaps they must also agree that 2 + 2 = 5. Worse, LLL’s American bosses have reportedly said the term ‘mother’ can be a ‘roadblock’ in certain discussions around breastfeeding and that questioning gender ideology is ‘harmful’.
“This is proper lunacy, isn’t it?
“I don’t know if this counts as ‘harmful’ but someone needs to say it: men can’t breastfeed. Sure, they can undergo hormonal procedures that mimic, to a degree, the process of lactation. But what comes out ain’t ‘mother’s milk’, and everyone knows it. Worse, most of these men tend to be on estrogen and other supplements, to aid their ‘gender transition’. So there’s no telling what medical residues might lurk in whatever gunk comes from their ‘breasts’. Nothing better captures the neo-misogyny of the woke era than the fact that mums who feed their babies formula milk are condemned while men who foist druggy secretions on mewling infants are celebrated. Women who do their best are damned, while men who do the worst are cheered – it’s Sexism 101.
Wasn't it La Leche that put a man dressing as a woman into their top spot?
Then said male milk is equal to woman's milk?
https://nypost.com/2024/02/19/world-news/trans-womens-milk-as-good-as-breast-milk-uk-health-officials-say/
Next up: Laboratory-generated or 'cultivated' human milk will be more cheap and carbon-friendly than chest-enslavement milk once they get the human male chest cells to culture correctly.
Normies: Uh, the breasts make milk whether you supply it exogenously or not so the idea that it's more economic and carbon friendly is a bald-faced lie to begin with and there's no reason to use, and plenty of reasons not to use (like 10,000+ yrs. of biology and agriculture), male or human breast tissue. Only some sort of pseudo-religious fanatical idiot or pseudo-religious con man would do what you're trying to do.
Cultivated Chestfeeders: Quit Culture Warring us you bigots!
A simple rebranding to 'The La Lecher League'.
Who could have known what would happen when gender studies replaced biology and math.
Base 2 (binary) now identifies as the infinity symbol.
breastfeeding
It's called Chestfeeding, bigot!
I do not get why we have to change all of society for cross-dressing men.
"Queer culture" is anything but a culture. A virus at best.
The only way men can lactate is under conditions of extreme starvation, such as was observed with survivors of Nazi concentration camps. Let's see Herr Misek try to deny that!
I doubt this even matters, as this whole trans bullshit is ridiculous, but the trans mafia say men can breastfeed because of the small number of female to male transitioners, who gave birth recently, still have breasts, and want to nurse their child. They're really women who identify as men, so the trans mafia dictate they have to be called men now, but can still breastfeed, so that makes it "logical" to say men can breastfeed.
"All of our forces are either [in Kharkiv] or in Chasiv Yar," said Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence agency. "I've used everything we have. Unfortunately, we don't have anyone else in the reserves."
I guess this means we are getting close to "fighting to the last Ukranian". What's next?
What's next?
Everybody buys wheat from Russia.
What about bread lines?
Those are good things.
"Look at the line. There's bread today!"
Under Capitalism it's: "Look at the bread flying off the shelf to be replaced by more! Look at the excess bread going to 'dead bread stores' and to restaurants to make croutons and stuffing! Look at old duffers in the park feed bread to birds! And look at the checkout lines fully occupied with cashier's! And look at the GrubHub and Instacart drivers fly!"
The apparatchiks in charge of the bread do make a lot of dough.
Hey, at least they aren’t loafers.
I'm sure more money will solve the man power crisis Ukraine is facing. How long before the French troops and Estonian troops sent in to do non-combatant roles end up in the trenches?
BTW for everyone saying Putin is looking for an excuse to broaden the war, he's had more than enough reasons to already, and hasn't.
"BTW for everyone saying Putin is looking for an excuse to broaden the war"
I knew that was bullshit right from the start. Now Israel, that's another matter. Their path to victory was to embroil the US in their conflict and rely on American might to destroy Iran and Israel's Arab neighbors. America was only willing to go toe to toe with Yemen, the poorest nation in Asia, and even there their efforts have been a miserable failure, with militias continually firing missiles at Israel and disrupting vital sea lanes.
America was only willing to go toe to toe with Yemen, the poorest nation in Asia, and even there,
theirBiden’s efforts, much like his entire administration, have been a miserable failure…Edited for clarity.
Trump was no better with his loathsome and cruel Yemen policy. Millions of famine stricken children is not the mark of successful US policy. Trump layed the ground work for the humiliations the US is facing today.
Trump will stop funding Israel's war efforts, right?
He'll have to get all his evangelical friends to stop lobbying for Israel first. They won't be on board with that because Israel has to exist and all the Jews there have to die for the end-of-times predictions to work.
"Trump will stop funding Israel’s war efforts, right?"
He might. Trump traveled the world meeting face to face with the leaders of Russia, China, North Korea and others. He even agreed with Chairman Kim's view that America's joint military exercises in Korea were a dangerous provocation and put a stop to them.
After more than 7 months of fighting, I don't think Biden has met or even talked to Hamas leadership. Trump might be more willing, given his belief in personal connection and the power of negotiation. If Hamas can come up with an impressive team that is more battle scarred than bone spurred, and is deferential to Trump and willing to stroke his ego, who knows what could come out of any meetings. Trump also has a sincere streak of anti-war in his make up. Not very deep, but it's there. That's more than we can say for Biden.
"He’ll have to get all his evangelical friends"
They are not his friends. They will be among the first to be jettisoned.
Trump will allow Israel to continue fighting for its existence. He didn't move the embassy to Jerusalem for no reason.
Where was any of that said in evangelicalism? I've never seen a tenet of that sort in any form of Christianity. Are you putting words in their mouth? Real dishonest of you.
French fascists, volunteers for the waffen ss, were among the last defenders of Berlin against the Russian juggernaut. They fought bravely but failed miserably in 1945. Maybe this time they will have greater success.
"Russian juggernaut."
Thanks to American lend-lease.
It doesn’t seem to be working this time around ie with lavish aid to Ukraine, or Israel for that matter. The longer Russia fights, the better they get. As Napoleon or Hitler would have told us.
America's nostalgic reverence for WWII style lending and leasing their way to victory while others get their hands dirty seems misplaced today. Even a rag tag militia from Yemen, Asia's poorest nation, has the US navy flummoxed. Maybe they should stick to the revolting cross dressing drag shows that we all love.

“WWII style lending and leasing their way to victory while others get their hands dirty”
Handling the Pacific and Western European fronts wasn't enough for mshitman. Apparently the US was supposed to fight on the eastern front as well.
American involvement in WWII was a walk in the park compared to what the Soviets faced. How many Americans died lending and leasing to the Soviets? Zero. The real contest is between two opponents face to face and angry, as god intended. There's a lot more to warfare than pushing pencils at the Pentagon.
"How many Americans died lending and leasing to the Soviets? Zero."
Your entire line of argument is bullshit, even this bit of snark; since American deaths and injuries in factories were very high during the war. Deaths making equipment for Americans, but also for use by the communist "juggernaut."
"since American deaths and injuries in factories were very high during the war. "
More Americans died due to road traffic accidents than enemy fire. That's just the truth, accept it or not, it's up to you. You go on believing that General Patton died a soldier's death. He didn't. Like so many other Americans who died during WWII, Patton succumbed to injuries sustained in a traffic accident, without any Nazis at the scene.
“How many Americans died lending and leasing to the Soviets? Zero.”
was your statement.
Too bad Patton never had a chance to slap you.
“How many Americans died lending and leasing to the Soviets? Zero.”
You think it was more?
"Too bad Patton never had a chance to slap you."
If he wanted to prolong his slapping days, he should have avoided cars and walked, as god intended. The fact remains that more Americans died in America in road traffic accidents than on the battlefield. I understand the impulse to deny this, but I deal in the truth, shameful as it is.
@mtrueman
Uh... yes? Do you object?
Over 400 thousand Americans died in WWII. In the meanwhile, only a bit more than 100k died of car crashes during the same time period:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_vehicle_fatality_rate_in_U.S._by_year
There was actually a reduction in deaths.
Damn, we didn't even need Patton for this. You just got slapped yourself.
Hey dipshit, ever heard of UBoats? They killed a lot more than Zero
Heard of a Chevrolet? How about Ford?
Ever heard of Volkswagen?
citing figures from the Hamas-run Gazan Health Ministry
All I needed to read.
Hamas-run Gazan Health Ministry only has 24 hours of fuel left!
Especially after being refuted even by the UN.
Hamas Health figures, you dont only die twice.
More cam out about those figures too. Hamas states a child is under the age 21. So they include Hamas soldiers that start at age 16.
Do you also get counted twice if your elementary school was a human shield for a rocket launch pad?
Hamas must hire pollsters from Chi-Town to count their statistics.
🙂

Unbiased Reuters.
Name and shame: Pro-Israel website ramps up attacks on pro-Palestinian student protesters

How dare people be accountable for their public words. They should rage quit like Jeff.
Well they do support terrorists
Jeffy rage-quit? When? I missed the rejoicing!
🙂
😉
ML found his Twitter account. Retweets a lot of democrats. Jeff freaked out. X name is also chemjeff
Did he say he was leaving? Is he going over to glibs?
Vanished like a fart in the wind.
One hell of a fart, given his relative size.
That was the wind. The buckfutter fly effect.
I thought J Diddy was a non-partisan libertarian?
Some 7,797 Gazan children had died in the war as of April 30, it said—a roughly 42% drop from the mid-March numbers.
And I think we can all agree that the fewer children the better and there's no reason to behave ourselves as though we secretly desire a greater number because we believe it helps our political goals.
I hope u mean the fewer children killed
It works both ways.
Like Pluggo at a children’s party?
If Hamas stopped using them as human shields, the numbers would be even lower.
How many of those 'children' are 19 year old 'men' with an AK74 and a penchant for rape?
That must be the good kind of rape, not what happens when a guy tries to date a modern womyn at Columbia.
Those campus protests are so powerful that they revived thousands of children.
Who is going around resurrecting all those children?
Jesus.
Both sides compromise narrative: After the IDF cut all the children in half, the Gazan Health Ministry counted each one twice.
Now you really are babbling. Israelis would never do that and Secular Israelis who've studied their Bible or even exercised common sense would know that the King Solomon of desert legend never existed.
As for Solomon himself, scholars on both the maximalist and minimalist sides of the spectrum of biblical archeology generally agree that he probably existed.
Sorry to contradict what I know is an article of faith for you, but given your passion for debunking other people's beliefs I figure you might appreciate someone who can correct the record for you.
Like any fundamentalists he believes in his version of the Ark no matter what.
Man. And to think how excited people got about one Middle Easterner coming back to life... this is gonna be big!
'but it's also a normal and even healthy part of the democratic process for massive cash infusions to other nations' war efforts be deliberated over, not automatic'
Nuh-uh! Denying or delaying the autocratic edicts of our fearless leaders is the opposite of "democracy".
Deliberated over? Sure, that could be a good reason for a delay, but did it ever happen?
I don't recall any discussions taking place regarding which road to take. It seemed more like there was a roadblock, a delay while the roadblock was carefully removed, and then traffic started to flow again.
But "deliberated over" does sound better than what actually happened, so let's go with that!
Yes, blocking funding is a valid view to take, moron.
Well, how long did it take you to figure it out?
Give an answer, if you're so wise.
Poor shrike. Ashley Biden admits diary posted to internet was hers.
https://thepostmillennial.com/snopes-reverses-fact-check-after-ashley-biden-reveals-in-letter-to-judge-her-stolen-diary-is-authentic?utm_campaign=64466
The letter from Ashley Biden stated, "I am deeply saddened that I even have to write this letter because my personal private journal was stolen and sold for profit."
How much you want to wager Shrike avoids discussing it altogether and proceeds with his old, tired, typical lies?
Actually her personal journal was given to a news site that published it then given to okeef who gave it to the fbi
Why did Biden go the the target?
He heard kids cloths were 50%off
What’s with you and reading a teen girl’s diary? You guys into that kind of stuff?
What is it with you leftists and your pedophilia fetish?
Just imagine for a moment if an Ivanka Trump diary came to light with similar details. How do you suppose the mainstream press would treat it?
Hey look, the leftist is also a pedo apologist. What a surprise.
I’m not the one reading a teenager’s diary looking for details. I just figure everything written in a kid’s diary should be taken with a grain of salt. Ashley Biden has repeatedly said that she wasn’t abused and that she resents the intrusion into her personal life by what can only be described as despicable partisan busybodies.
Yes, I have the diary and am reading through it right now. Fucking moron.
I’m not the one reading a teenager’s diary looking for details.
No, you're the one who supports the guy who diddles kids.
And I'm not the one showering with my daughter.
What is it with you leftists that rather than address the information you resort to implying pedophilia to discredit information that makes your side look bad?
I like how "This thing I left behind" is "stealing".
"I'm sorry my actions have consequences. I wish they didn't."
All of the earmarks of Russian disinformation.
Can you get 50 friends to back that up?
Stolen in the same way Hunter's laptop was stolen. Fuck that entire corrupt, degenerate family and party.
Also, I am in it (called by a different name).
Beth Coyotee.
Any relation to Wiley?
Not to be pedantic, but it's "Wile E." not "Wiley".
Uh, thanks. Now just step a bit to your left, under the anvil hanging on that rope.
You know that anvil will end up falling on you, right?
I'm surprised that any company named "Acme" still exists after Looney Tunes.". Their reputation is so shitty!
🙂
😉
Admitting being in that book is like admitting a line in a Skrillex song was written about you.
Semi-related, the topic Passport Bros yields some interesting feminist emotional rants.
Glad to see the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is no longer a Hamas mouthpiece, repeating propaganda spoon-fed to them by Hamas.
Fuck Hamas.
You obviously missed what actually happened. Probably because your "news sources" prefer to feed you their own narrative. Yum yum!
So, what actually happened?
He doesn't know.
So, if women don't want to do it all, would they rather focus on the sandwiches or the BJs?
Liz has to know her 99% male readership wouldn't get jack-shit out of that book.
I saw "Women do it all" and immediately started listing what they don't do: pee standing up, kill bugs, dangerous jobs, the trash...
Make good star wars films
Read books to children.
Personally, the entire idea is mind blowing.
Imagine seeing some guy on the subway reading a book titled “Husbands: Why Men Still Do It All And How To Be Less Obsessive About It” and not thinking “What. An. Enormous. Fucking. Douchebag.”
"and not thinking “What. An. Enormous. Fucking. Douchebag.”"
That and this is narcissism and victim culture running amok
No wonder random white chicks and Steve buscemi are getting punched in the face in NY.
Kamala kicking that door in...now we see the violence inherent in the system!
Are you being oppressed?
Once a LEO always a LEO.
Roughly a 50-50 chance Biden wins the election.
Looking at the SSA tables he’s got roughly a 67% chance of living four and a half years; however, the chance of living without severe disability is less. Let’s call it 50%.
Which means we’ve got roughly 25% chance of experiencing President Kamala Harris sometime between now and January 2029.
Let's see what crazy b*tch Trump appoints for his VP.
Gonna be better than Harris, that's for sure.
Koreans on rooftops don’t want Kamala supporters kicking down their shop doors.
'"Falling birthrates come with huge implications for the way people live, how economies grow and the standings of the world's superpowers," reports The Wall Street Journal. "An economy with fewer children will struggle to finance pensions and healthcare for growing ranks of elderly.'
So it's a Ponzi scheme after all.
Indeed. However, the fact that it's a Ponzi scheme doesn't prevent it from collapsing catastrophically. We still have to deal with that inevitability somehow.
Boy, must be great that our elites have pushed both the mantra and policies about the lie of global overpopulation.
'"What Trump could do in foreign policy might surprise the world," writes Curt Mills'
WWIII, IV, and V?
III and IV already happened.

World War IV was mandatory covid vaccinations.
I thought that was WWVI, and Trump did WWIII through WWV in office.

Too bad Wilson was not VP under Obama.

We have to know that sometimes people will open the door for you and leave it open.
What are we, heating the entire world?
Yeah, sounds like sometimes people are born in barns!
Who doesn’t love a red barn?
Cooling. Makes it noble.
"Little hope left: In Ukraine, the situation is growing increasingly dire."
That can't be right. Reason.com's most nonpartisan analyst informed us Russia lost this war over a year ago:
Russia is disintegrating. They are near impoverishment. Biden laid the hammer on them. I can’t wait for Putin to be shot in the head.
#DefendBidenAtAllCosts
Poor SPB2....skewered again upon the spit of OBL.
You know Sandra, Rev Arthur could use a reminder visit. Just saying. 🙂
(you can tell Arthur I sent you, lol)
Russia ran out of munitions in the first month of the SMO and by the second month was resorting to scavenging microchips from washing machines.
And now all the women are forced to launder soldiers uniforms by hand!
A lot of laundering in Ukraine.
I’m new here. Honest question: What’s with all the Russia dick sucking on a libertarian comment board?
Mocking your side's manic Russophobia is hardly Russia dick-sucking. And let's face it, this didn't even become an issue until Putin started resisting cultural leftism. How's Pussy Riot doing these days?
I though if you were new you couldn'y comment? "Heads up: Commenting privileges now require a subscription to Reason Plus. As a past commenter you have been granted commenting privileges on a temporary basis. He ain't new. Showed up grey for me. I've seen all the other people I've muted except for AmSoc. So guessing it is jeff back using that sock under a new name.
Came in gray for me too. Did not recognize name.
So what’s a neocon doing on a libertarian website?
Pushing the globohomo NAFO narrative.
Can you provide an example of what you consider "Russian dick sucking"?
It's not an honest question. I'll answer anyway.
I never claimed to be an across-the-board libertarian. Most of what I do here involves ridiculing stupid and / or dishonest people, whether they're rabid Democrats or Trump dead-enders. Buttplug is one of my main targets because of his relentless shilling for Biden - despite claiming he "doesn't root for either team" and "just wants gridlock."
Since you're new, you missed the full extent of Buttplug's pro-Biden gaslighting. Besides his laughable foreign policy analysis, he's been insisting for years that the only possible explanation for Biden's low approval on the economy is ......... brainwashing by right-wing media. Yup, even throughout 2022, Wall Street's worst year since 2008, he told us everything was terrific and we were all crazy for thinking otherwise.
Unfortunately for Ukraine, Russia uses the same fuel for their tanks that Hamas has in their generators, so I think by my math they have about 10 million years of fuel left for the war
Yeah, he’s a fucking moron. Who lies a lot.
He could definitely use some Jesus time right now. Shrike doesn't seem to realize that it's actually his side who's Jew hating. He'd be in perfect harmony with the pro-Hamas protestors.
"I'm not sure I would have the same success with breastfeeding if I had had my first baby more recently," writes Bethany Mandel for The Free Press. "La Leche League's meetings are now also open to biological men. All attendees have to do is say they're transgender or nonbinary, and they can come and watch women baring their breasts while obtaining breastfeeding support."
Yeah, but you can now make more in tips.
If somebody decided to violently assault all tranny weirdos --- would society be worse off for it?
I fail to see a way they would be.
They've pushed their bullshit far enough.
Totally not a fetish, guys!
...but there's only a short window to act before the next presidential election campaign heats up.
SOUTH KOREAN HANDMAIDS TAIL!
There's gotta be some way to do a Squid Games and Handmaid's Tale mashup.
Public school libraries were more likely to carry liberal than conservative books...
Libraries have not enough non-fiction offerings. Got it.
Well, they can move 1984 from fiction to the instructional section.
And the movie Idiocracy over to the documentaries section.
Where’s that leave Brave New World?
Also instructional. Soma was a key item on their society.
in San Francisco?
When was the last time y'all were in a high skool library? From what I remember it was 90% YA fiction and 10% copies of the dictionary.
I recall a number of encyclopedias as well. And various periodicals. We even had microfiche and a card catalog.
For some reason the authors did not attempt to categorise book selection against the political environments in which the schools were located. It would be interesting to see if schools in conservative areas had correspondingly conservative book selections, for instance.
There are public libraries in both liberal and conservative areas, and that's the result they found. You have no proof of your accusations against them that demonstrate otherwise.
"All attendees have to do is say they're transgender or nonbinary, and they can come and watch women baring their breasts while obtaining breastfeeding support."
Report to Scott Shackford ASAP! He'll explain why this is entirely appropriate.
He would be able to keep the readership abreast.
A guy with tits trying to breastfeed is about as useful as teats on a bull.
Some guys may try to milk this opportunity for all they can.
Freedom of expression!
It’s udderly ridiculous.
Totally tits up.
To keep things even, the men will be allowed to bare their penises.
Membership has its privileges.
Can they milk their lady dicks?
Limited quantities of heavy cream.
All attendees have to do is say they're transgender or nonbinary, and they can come and watch women baring their breasts while obtaining breastfeeding support.
TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN, WITH OR WITHOUT THEM TIDDIES, YOU BIGOTS.
Men are men.
Women are women.
That cannot be changed.
Hey, how are we going to bring down western civilization with thinking like that?
It's fatally undermined now. No further effort is required.
Now all you have to do is convince the Biden Administration who are making those ideas verboten under their Title IX 1600 pages of regulations.
Look at Mr. Biologist over here.
Maybe if not for women being polite and not bitching about this real issue instead of a non-existent “wage gap”, this would be less of a problem.
Feminists do not much like women.
It is time to reach a modus vivendi with RUS wrt UKR, before UKR is completely lost and absorbed into RUS (which might happen, anyway). If UKR were serious about prosecuting the war, they would be droning the shit out of RUS supply depots. They aren't.
If Ukraine were serious about being a Putin victim worthy of outside support, they'd stop canceling elections, shutting down newspapers and TV stations, and otherwise trying to copy Putin.
Same as all the idiots wanting industrial policy and central planning to emulate China to beat China because free markets are best when planned centrally.
The easy solution to the Ukraine war was right there, all this time!
They definitely could've done better.
Sadly, Ukraine lost the war the moment they chose to fight it. Thanks to adults in charge, they're fucked.
The crime-rate data was touched on recently, but this was on my feed today:
https://justthenews.com/nation/states/center-square/houston-police-chief-resigns-mayor-shocked-latest-investigations
In February, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner first announced that the Houston Police Department dropped 264,000 crime reports, including violent crimes and sexual assaults, which weren’t investigated because a “lack of personnel” code was assigned to them, The Center Square reported.
In March, new Houston Mayor John Whitmire appointed an independent panel to review an internal HPD investigation into how the hundreds of thousands of criminal incident reports fell through the cracks.
The lack of violent crime investigations and dropping crime reports, Whitmire has said, likely skewed crime data, meaning the crime rate for the city was actually higher than reported. The previous mayor and Finner had claimed crime in the state’s largest city was declining despite daily news reports indicating the opposite.
“The unreported crimes that go on in the city are striking, that’s the reason I have questioned the crime reports,” Whitmire said.
'Gathering dust in the corner' is not the same as 'falling through the cracks'.
And of course the root cause is the need to submit reports to keep the federal funding flowing.
The Russians are willing to tolerate huge losses of tanks and men to capture tiny settlements, deploying infantry in what are known as bloody ‘meat assaults.’
“You see, killbots have a preset kill limit. Knowing their weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own men at them until they reached their limit and shut down. Kif, show them the medal I won."
https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/05/12/the-truth-about-covids-origins-is-finally-coming-out/
Two of the key figures in the story of Covid’s origins gave away vital new information last week before the US Congress.
One of these figures is Ralph Baric, the University of North Carolina professor who invented ingenious techniques for genetically altering coronaviruses. He effectively taught scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China how to do ‘gain of function’ experiments with bat-derived sarbecoviruses to make them more infectious or lethal in humanised mice. The other figure is Peter Daszak, the highly paid president of the non-profit, EcoHealth Alliance. Over many years, EcoHealth Alliance has channelled large sums of US taxpayer money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for ‘gain of function’ experimentation, and for finding new sarbecoviruses in bats.
Both men reluctantly admitted under oath to points that markedly strengthen the already strong hypothesis that the pandemic began with an accident in a laboratory in Wuhan.
In comments on a draft of a grant proposal written in 2018, which were made public last year, Daszak boasted of how cheap it is to do experiments in Wuhan because they use a lower biosafety level (BSL-2), without negative-pressure work cabinets. Baric responded that US scientists would ‘freak out’ at that. So a newly released email Baric sent to Daszak on 27 May 2021 smacks one’s gob somewhat. Responding to Daszak’s insistence that the Wuhan Institute actually used safer versions of these low safety standards for its experiments, Baric wrote:
‘Your [sic] being told a bunch of BS. Bsl2 [with] negative pressure, give me a break. There [sic] last paper mentioned bsl2 [with] appropriate PPE. This last part was the first and only time this was ever mentioned, never in earlier papers, and in the latest paper never defined either. I have no doubt that they followed state-determined rules and did the work under bsl2. Yes China has the right to set their own policy. You believe this was appropriate containment if you want but don’t expect me to believe it. Moreover, don’t insult my intelligence by trying to feed me this load of BS.‘
Baric clearly does not have a high regard for the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s safety standards, or indeed for his virus-hunting grantrepreneur colleague, Daszak. Nor do some other scientists who have nonetheless defended Daszak in public. Thanks to freedom-of-information revelations, we now know that ‘Dastwat’ and ‘EgoHealth’ are just two of the epithets used about him by his friends. With friends like that…
The case for the lab-leak theory of Covid’s origins becomes ever more overwhelming with every further revelation, admission and concession. We are not quite there yet, however. The Chinese government and its scientists have yet to admit they caused the pandemic. But in exactly the right city, at exactly the right time, they were playing with exactly the right kind of genetic insertion into exactly the right part of exactly the right gene of exactly the right kind of virus, in exactly the right way. And they showed exactly the wrong kind of openness about it afterwards. It would be a heck of a coincidence and awfully bad luck if somehow Covid broke out naturally, right there and at the same time.
(Chinese scientists have been reduced to arguing that it somehow came into the country on frozen seafood.)
Old news! Can't we just move on?
Amnesty!
Amnesty, my ass! There’s an old chant about referees that fits here:
“I got a rope!”
“I got a tree!”
“All we need is….”
Can we put the SOB in jail?
That’s what they get for not wearing masks!
Are you trying to tell me it wasn't a bioweapon?
He’s trying to tell you it wasn’t bat soup or raccoon dogs, you gullible asshole.
"What Trump could do in foreign policy might surprise the world,"
Form an alliance with Putin and Lil' Kim to fight the NATO countries?
Really not surprising.
Ronald McFondled is not even trying anymore.
And your evidence for Trump doing this is….
As usual, Shrike, you’re pathetic.
Don’t you remember all those wars trump started?
But war is peace! Why do you hate peace?
No new wars since the Bushpigs.
(wingnuts think lobbing a Tomahawk into Libya was a “war”. They are stupid)
Thanks for confirming trump didn’t start any wars.
Well, we can't say he didn't try.
In other words, Trump didn't start any wars.
Obviously. You know who else didn't start any wars? And actually disengaged the US from one?
Gerald Ford. The Vietnam War ended during his presidency.
Biden on the other hand has gotten us into two proxy wars and trouble at Yemen.
shriek forgets ISIS catching the current SecDef flat-footed back when he was CENTCOM commander.
"No new wars since the Bushpigs."
Because they didn't call Libya "wars", right?
Say, Buttplug, wasn't Biden as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee the chief Democratic Party cheerleader for the Iraq war? Even more than Hillary?
You're the Bushpigs, Pluggo.
Is that what happened in Libya? You realize everyone knows everything you post is bullshit, right?
He started the war on democracy.

Gamestop $15 to $80 in two days.
This one is so bad, I can smell the bullshit coming off it through the phone screen.
Please tell me you were shorting GameStop
No, but I have lost big shorting that shit-house Carvana. They are riding an economic boom with high used car demand. When the merry-go-round stops they will fall 80%.
SHORT THAT BITCH!
Would short Fat Donnie's stock but the interest rate is too high.
Plus, it hit $54 today.
Poor Plugly.
So high interest effects Trumps social media company but not a used car dealer? That’s not even coherent. Lol, you’ve become a caricature of yourself , and yourself was already a fucking joke.
They are riding an economic boom with high used car demand
LOL
What else do you consider indicators of an economic boom? More senior citizens in the work force? Top Ramen flying off the shelfs?
Crawl back to your windowless van, you innumerate asshole.
"stated that 13,450 children had been killed in Gaza, citing figures from the Hamas-run Gazan Health Ministry... But "last Wednesday, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released updated casualty figures. Some 7,797 Gazan children had died in the war as of April 30, it said—a roughly 42% drop from the mid-March numbers."
So sorry that this is happening to you, Sarcasmic. Even Hamas is "revising down" their propaganda numbers. When they're eventually revised down to zero it will be devestating, won't it?
Thoughts and prayers.
Facts changed. Stop being a conspiracy theorist.
He even cited his source! http://www.google.com
He hates you, so he won’t accept your facts.
Be fair to the drunk, he has no original ideas.
He just uncritically repeats the lies that CNN spews.
Fuck Hamas.
LOL, it's clear from how you've written this that you know what the story is actually about (unlike that other guy, upthread), but of course you don't want to admit it in public. What would people think!
What the fuck are you babbling about, Shrike.
Don't worry, your secret's safe with me.
Then prove it, mister!
The Russians are willing to tolerate huge losses of tanks and men to capture tiny settlements, deploying infantry in what are known as bloody 'meat assaults.'
You mean WW2 wasn't an aberration? And that is how the Russians actually fight wars?
Some of us said that this was the plan from the beginning.
Many Russian soldiers will die prosecuting Putin’s war of conquest in human wave attacks, but that is the price Putin is willing to pay.
Doesn't seem to have affected their recruitment much, and there's a significant whiff of "_______ numbers of Viet Cong killed" to these casualty reports by the western media. Russia's even making inroads to African nations now, and the Euro-American military detachments are getting pushed out by the governments and Wagner Group mercs. Russia has a long history of using their populations like meat shields, but still, this shit wouldn't be happening if Russia wasn't able to get people to sign up.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's had to expand the age range for their draft, and is begging Poland and Germany to help them round up the trust fund brats hiding in Warsaw and Berlin who bought their way out of serving.
Why are Russians signing up in support of an unjust war?
They don’t see it that way. And if you bothered to see things from their perspective you’d understand why. Or just a basic understanding of Russian history.
Or just stick with the “Putin man bad” narrative and continue to be surprised that this is going exactly like many of us predicted from the beginning.
There is an effective propaganda machine in Russia. Most of the public there only hears what Putin wants to tell them.
Ok?
We must have different Russian friends and acquaintances.
There is an effective propaganda machine in Russia.
Yeah, the FVEY nations are seething with jealously about it, too.
The question is where is the tipping point for the RUS public wrt KIAs. If there are 500K RUS KIAs in UKR, is that enough to create discontent within RUS toward the war and force a conclusion? If that is the endgame, then UKR needs to significantly dial up the lethality of their defense, and infrastructure attacks.
Liberation of Donbas and a land bridge to Transnistria with a buffer zone north and west. That is the end game. Further leveraging western economies while damaging the petrodollar and SWIFT have been unexpected victories for them and the non-golden billions across the globe.
Hard to get estimates on Ukrainian casualties but some sources posting north of 700k. Recruiting videos coming from Ukraine show younger teens and near elderly being snatched off the streets. There are active attempts by Kiev to have expats forcibly returned; recall seeing a story in Poland about this. One side is getting volunteers and the other is using Einstazgruppen to conscript.
Russian losses are well under 6 figures. Don't believe the msm. Check out Scott Ritter and Douglas MacGregor.
Why do think it's taking so long?
"Many Russian soldiers will die prosecuting Putin’s war of conquest"
Biden is killing Ukrainian soldiers in his.
The blowback in the US perhaps in ten to twenty years may not be kind.
You mean WW2 wasn’t an aberration? And that is how the Russians actually fight wars?
I believe it’s propaganda, so Ukrainians can vastly overstate the amount of enemies they’re killing. Which is in their interest, so other countries will want to send them more weapons so they can continue to be so super effective at fighting the Russians, and not massively incompetent and wasteful.
The Nazis in World War II were also vastly overstating how many Soviet’s they were killing (and the Soviets were doing the same thing.) That infamous scene from “Enemy At The Gate” is hilariously inaccurate because the USSR actually didn’t have unlimited manpower.
I believe it’s propaganda, so Ukrainians can vastly overstate the amount of enemies they’re killing.
That shit's coming straight out of the State Department. Zelensky and Ukraine isn't running this war any more than the Libyan "freedom fighters" were in 2011.
Fair, but doesn’t change the underlying point that Russians aren’t taking small villages in “bloody meat assaults.” That is conspicuous bullshit.
And as an aside, if you want to look at World War II for an idea of how Russia conducts wars, it’s with massive artillery saturation. 1,000 artillery pieces for every mile of front, when they’re on the offensive. Literally shaking the ground with artillery barrage.
They’re not sending in waves of men, they’re using saturation fire to send 100 pounds of shell for every one pound sent by Ukraine. Because Ukraine has to rely on scraps and hand me downs.
And as an aside, if you want to look at World War II for an idea of how Russia conducts wars, it’s with massive artillery saturation.
Oh sure, that’s been happening for a while in this one, too. That’s how they were able to blunt last year’s counter-offensive rather effectively. The Russians absolute LOVE using artillery.
The other thing that’s coming out of this war is the increasing use of drones to conduct low-level harassment strikes. I wouldn’t call it a game-changer, but it’s something that will have to be accounted for in base and position defense.
“The other thing that’s coming out of this war is the increasing use of drones to conduct low-level harassment strikes. I wouldn’t call it a game-changer, but it’s something that will have to be accounted for in base and position defense.”
I might call it a game changer.
Depends on the extent to which it's employed, and the effect of those tactics on battlefield control and shaping. If it's just something that's more of a harassment measure, I wouldn't expect much out of it. Where it could lead down that game-changing path probably won't even be in using them as a direct weapons-delivery system, but in second-order C2 capabilities like signal jamming and signal hacking.
Recent reports indicate that drones are killing more soldiers than either aircraft or artillery. I’d call that a game changer.
Info per Clash Report via an intel channel.
“Info per Clash Report”
Well, I just checked their twitter account and there’s a bunch of stuff there that our press isn’t reporting on. So I’m gonna just say it’s Putin propaganda and move along.
Call back to when the fat groomer whined about eastern sources being used where western sources later posted the same?
Bull. This is the same line the Brits and French said over and over again from 1914-1917. Germans were crazy attacking in mass formations being wiped out left and right. The German manpower was on the verge of collapse. Just one more offensive was needed to break the German line and end the war.
Truth..the British and French lost 2-3 soldiers for every 1 German.
Likely the same in Ukraine. The Russians strategy is to bleed Ukraine as the Ukies fight to retain every meter.
Biden could have gotten an aid package for Ukraine much sooner if he had agreed to border security improvements. He insists on secure borders for Ukraine but not for us.
But I'm sure if Russian tanks start crossing it, he'll quickly change his mind.
I do not share your optimism.
Maybe Russian, but he'd be cool with Chinese ones.
it's also a normal and even healthy part of the democratic process for massive cash infusions to other nations' war efforts be deliberated over, not automatic.
If Ukraine absolutely can’t fight without being sent stuff from the US, then this is a proxy war. Since when is that a good thing? I don’t think anyone outside the Pentagon or Raytheon likes the idea that we’re just going to permanently find proxy wars all over the place. And yet there’s this expectation that we’re never turning off the spigot of munitions flowing to Ukraine.
It’s a proxy war and it’s dangerous.
this is exactly correct.
These fucking buffoons in DC are playing with fire. And for what?
The fucking buffoons in DC who are playing with fire, also don't seem to understand that fire is hot.
It's more like a proxy defense.
Besides, Putler has assured us this is not a "war", and Russian troops will be withdrawn just as soon as the Jewish Nazis are removed from power in Ukraine. Of course, he means they will be removed from Ukraine, not those parts of Ukraine which are now Russia, which will include, of course, all of it in due course.
How is it a proxy defense? We’re not under attack. We’re not formally at war with Russia. If we were, we’d send literally everything we have.
Russia isn’t capable of invading the United States. They don’t have the navy nor the air power they would need. The idea that Ukraine is holding off what would be an invasion of the US if not for them is pure farce.
US interests do not end (or pre-MAGAdeth, did not end) at the US border. NATO was not devised to protect US beaches from Russian invasions.
US interests extend throughout the world in many different ways, and they are defended by ensuring that international waters remain passable by all, by ensuring that terrorists do not find safe haven anywhere on Earth, and by ensuring that imperialist powers don't seize chunks of the hitherto free world for their own use.
If you insist upon using the term "proxy", yes, by resisting Russia's aggression (with US assistance) against US interests in maintaining a peaceful Europe, Ukraine is effectively defending US interests as its proxy.
A war between two corrupt eastern european powers is none of our business. This obsession with America running the world is idiotic and borne from those neocons/neolibs (mostly sorry but they tend to come from Eastern Europe) and have some old world grevience..they can't get over Trotsky losing to Stalin or what the Czar did. These globalists should be deported (Ukraine would be a great place) and Americans should again run our foreign policy.
Same stupid thing they said about Vietnam.
"A proxy defense."
Fuck off, Joe McCarthy.
Keep in mind that Ukraine had one of the largest armies in Europe before the war started. It's been absolutely decimated and they're clearly relying on NATO augmentees to keep their equipment operational.
Part of the problem is they never really developed a manufacturing base for weapons, despite their history as a manufacturing hub during the Cold War. They never built shit since Russia broke apart, let what they did have rot, and they're so fucking corrupt that any acquisition programs probably would have been as wasteful as ours.
Speaking of corruption, I heard that all the money that was supposed to go to the north for reinforcing defense was siphoned off by bureaucrats. Can’t find anything right off hand to confirm.
Kind of makes giving up their nukes look a little silly, doesn't it?
Fortunately, Ukraine obtained "security guarantees" from the US, Russia and the United Kingdom...
Between them and Libya, any nation being jawboned to give up their WMDs needs to tell the Great Powers to get fucked.
This book (my subway reading) is excellent.
The title alone makes me doubt.
I dont know a single married couple where the wife "does it all". Please.
Basically, the only way the wife "does it all" is by systematically ignoring all the work the man does.
Wife: "I have to handle all of the laundry and cleaning"
Husband: "I have to keep up with the yard, clean the gutters, fix anything broken in the house, deal with any rodents or insects."
Wife: "See. I do EVERYTHING!"
My two favorites are:
1. "Wife: I *made* the boys do..."
2. "I did the [thing which only takes 5 min. with the right tool/knowledge]. It only took like 3 hours."
And, again, as a guy, I wouldn't be so retarded as to even pick up a book with "Why Men Still Do It All..." in the title except as as a joke.
Division of labor is a good thing. Whether that's different household tasks or one spouse bringing in the money and the other tending to the household. And it doesn't have to be "traditional gender roles", though it will probably mostly be that way because traditional roles didn't just happen for no reason.
Well there are certainly things my wife doesn't do.
Truth. Women do it all, just ask a woman. Grievance culture before grievance culture was a thing.
We all owe Lying Jeffy an apology:

We do!
I'm so sorry Jeff, that's practically a trunk.
Well, it’s not exactly hopping out and mauling anyone. Jeffy’s still an idiot.

“Belgium has passed a law stating that the government can intervene in cases where prostitutes refuse sexual acts too frequently.
Pimps may file an official government complaint against their “workers” if they refuse sex more than 10 times in six months.”
Isn’t forced, unwilling sex also called rape?
Or sexual slavery.
These governments are literally assisting invaders with their raping and pillaging.
Mandated rape.
Where I come from, sexual oppression of indigenous population(s) was traditionally regarded as one of those genocide-type, war-crime things. But, apparently, that's only the case if there's an otherwise hot war going on between the two parties/tribes/nations/social constructs.
When your tribal chiefs are so into cuckoldry that they actually help the colonists rape their women.
If these women would just stop resisting, then there would be no need for sexual violence. Just consenting to everything is the one fool-proof way to avoid being raped.
Not when it services Diversity and inclusion.
“There is little chance this will (actually) favour women. Under legalization/full decrim, pimps become ‘managers’ with the backing of the state to further entrench and maintain their power. Pimps see women they sell as products, not people deserving of full dignity & respect.”
I don't get it. You ARE the product when you're a sex-worker. What's the controversy here?
I don't think that's the right way to look at it. They are providing specific services for pay, not renting out their bodies for whatever use anyone wants to put them to.
$7.5 Billion Later, Biden Is Up to 7 EV Charging Stations
Yes, but his bank account is up 10%!
Joe Biden will double, triple and quadruple tariffs on some Chinese goods, with EV duties jumping to 102.5% from 27.5%
OH NO! Another Sarcasmic narrative takes a hit today! The poor bastard just can’t get a break.
I've been reliably informed that tariffs against the Chinese Communist Party are racist. What will Sarcasmic do? Will he join Buttplug in being a racist or will he just pretend this isn't happening.
Blame trump!
“Meanwhile, things are so bad there that Estonia is reportedly mulling sending troops in”
Huzzah! Finally, someone with something to actually lose in eastern Europe has perhaps awakened to the risk! The only stake Americans have in Ukraine is the uncontrollable desire to meddle around the globe in every situation to maintain our (fictional) “Leader of the Free World” status. Meanwhile the people with the most at risk from a potential permanent Russian occupation of the Donetsk should be the ones to provide the ammunition to Ukraine if they think it’s important. If the EU doesn’t think it’s that important, why should the US? If Putin is willing to expend thousands of his tanks or millions of his young men in the effort, why should we try to stop him?
The only stake Americans have in Ukraine is the uncontrollable desire to meddle around the globe in every situation to maintain our (fictional) “Leader of the Free World” status.
But if we aren't meddling in the far corners of the free world, how will I justify reading my "Americans: Why American Still Does It All And What To Do Instead" book on the subway?
Fuck off, hasbara troll.
Neither here nor there, but when spammers call speaking Russian to them gets the most immediate hang ups. Obviously English is a poor choice unless you want to chat with Apu or Veejay. Romanian confuses them but they do hang up. Spanish works except the one spammer who spoke it fluently. German kind of confuses them too but they’ll hang up. Ymmv.
I do that Black Speech poem about the ring from the Lord of the Rings. I think they think I'm cursing them.
One ding to rule them all,
One ding to find them.
One ding the bring them all,

"I'm not sure I would have the same success with breastfeeding if I had had my first baby more recently," writes Bethany Mandel for The Free Press. "La Leche League's meetings are now also open to biological men. All attendees have to do is say they're transgender or nonbinary, and they can come and watch women baring their breasts while obtaining breastfeeding support."
Liz, did you clear this with Nick "Just let people have their Promethean transformation, man" Gillespie?
Remember all the backwards assumptions about improbability and self-selection around "My kids almost got child sex trafficked outside Hobby Lobby!" Karens?
Yeah, statistically speaking, not all of the men showing up for La Leche meetings are there strictly for the exposed adult women's breasts.
No, I don't remember. Remind us how you're the victim in all this.
First, tell us how you're a victim in the Enron scandal.
Wonder what it's like to lose an existential war?
Here's an article about Israel's northern province of Galilee and it's plans to secede from Israel over Tel Aviv's inability or unwillingness to deal with the Party of God militia in Lebanon. Tens of thousands of displaced Israelis are languishing in hotels far from the action, paid for by the government. With increasing concern over lack of progress on war aims, they are growing tired of government dithering and incompetence.
Add this to the increasingly violent demonstrations (gas, beatings, water cannons) against the government in the center, international isolation, even losing American backing. I was surprised to learn that Biden sent his CIA chief to Oman after the attack on the consulate in Damascus. Burns is apparently the most capable diplomat in the administration according to multiple and varied commentators. In Oman, Burns met with officials from Iran. He discussed Iran's plans to retaliate against Israel and gave his stamp of approval on the mass drone/missile attack that followed.
https://thecradle.co/articles-id/24799
Iran’s response was measured and calculated. Iran spent little on the drone swarm but caused Israel to exhaust a lot with the Iron Dome defense. The Iranian missiles were just to see if saturating Israeli defenses provided openings for them, which it kind of did.
Iran must have one hell of an iron turban...
They have demonstrated the capability to overwhelm Israel's much vaunted air defense systems and land missiles wherever they choose. It must have scared the Israeli war cabinet shitless.
True.....
So what is it like to be a useless antisemitic POS, misconstrueman?
Why don't you schlep your antisemitic ass to gaza, and try to actualize what you write as a keyboard warrior.
You're a cultural and moral vandal.
Enough about politics and war. Let's discuss me.
Have you repented of your sins?
mtrueman - now do the part where Iran overwhelms Israel's Iron Dome and Israel retaliates with massive destruction of Iran's major cities killing hundreds of thousands of Iranians. Iran tried to save face with an inexpensive and ineffective attack after promising to do so, and Israel swatted the flies just because. And you got suckered in by the for-show-only theatrics because you are basically a sucker. If there has been a day any time in the last three decades when Iran hasn't issued dire "Death to Israel" warnings I'd like to know when it was. And yet Israel is still alive because only a few nasty sucker punches manage to get through once a decade.
"And yet Israel is still alive because only a few nasty sucker punches manage to get through once a decade."
I'm not sure what you are referring to. As far as I know the April attack is the only time Iran has targeted Israel. ie missiles were launched from Iran and landed in israel. This doesn't happen once a decade.
Once Israel loses an existential war, it will no longer exist. That's why Israel is descending into the hysterical panic evident today. The cabinet is at each other's throats, violent demonstrations against the government have broken out, not one of the war aims have been met, and the resistance is stronger and more influential than ever.
If you love Israel, I can see why all this would disturb you, and the impulse to sink into fantasies of burning Iranian cities is strong.
A state based on Central European mid 19th century ethno-nationalism imposed on the Arab world was bound to be problematic. Zionism was a secular etho nationalistic movement (and socialist)..the myth of returning to the land God gave them was always viewed as a joke by the real zionists..but it was very valuable when applied to earn western protestant middle class support. Our land and our people..wow..heard that before didn't we? The only real solution is a one state solution of a multi ethnic state with a bill of rights for all peoples there.
There were religious Jews among the Zionist movement--it would have broken down without them. If enough people didn't believe the Jewish stories, they would have had no ground to take it back.
Utter nonsense. Iran's attack cost $32 million and struck the most defended space on the planet outside the US. Iran has zero interest in expanding the war. They're all hyped up for the BRI, and are doing everything to limit conflict escalation by not targeting any actual people, only an area. Israel & US/allies spent $1.3 billion defending against this attack, and failed.

"The Russians are willing to tolerate huge losses of tanks and men to capture tiny settlements, deploying infantry in what are known as bloody 'meat assaults.'"
Utter horseshit. The Russians have been scrupulous to avoid both their own and civilian casualties, that's why this is taking so damn long.
