Commitment Issues
Plus: Brooklyn communists, Shenzhen Costco, Chernobyl mythbusting, and more...

Actually cool results: Last night, Michigan's primaries brought a welcome surprise: As of this morning, over 100,000 Democratic voters had chosen "uncommitted" instead of casting votes for Joe Biden—up from roughly 20,000 uncommitteds in each of the last three Democratic presidential primary races. This means that Biden won 81.1 percent of the vote, while "uncommitted" won 13.3 percent, with 98 percent reporting. (Archetypal L.A. woman/self-help queen Marianne Williamson won just 3 percent, alas.)
Biden still won the Democratic primary, and Donald Trump still beat former South Carolina governor (and drop-out refusenik) Nikki Haley in the Republican one, as was to be expected. But the uncommitted results show that more people are choosing protest votes than in the last few races, perhaps reacting to historically unpopular candidates. ("Biden vs. Trump: The 2024 race a historic number of Americans don't want," declares a recent CNN headline.)
Of course, in Michigan, there are other issues at play, too. With a massive Muslim population (more than 300,000 total), the uncommitted votes can also be read as a repudiation of Biden's support for Israel in its war against Hamas following the massacre on October 7. In fact, there was a campaign—supported by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D–Mich.)—to mobilize Democrats to cast protest votes against Biden for his handling of the war in Gaza. (Other groups, like associations of Armenians pissed off by the administration's support for Azerbaijan, also supported the effort.)
"Trump won the state by just 11,000 votes in 2016 over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and then lost the state four years later by nearly 154,000 votes to Biden," reports the Associated Press. "Organizers of the 'uncommitted' effort wanted to show that they have at least the number of votes that were Trump's margin of victory in 2016, to demonstrate how influential the bloc can be."
Amusingly, Biden chose not to acknowledge the uncommitteds in a statement he released following the Michigan win. If you simply pretend they aren't there, maybe they'll go away!
Speaking of ignoring major political issues: New polling from Gallup indicates that immigration is now top of mind for a majority of people when assessing who they want to vote for in 2024. It's the "first time immigration has been the single most important problem since 2019," writes Gallup's Jeffrey M. Jones. And it's changed rather quickly, too: "Significantly more Americans name immigration as the most important problem facing the U.S. (28%) than did a month ago (20%)."
Currently, the U.S. is dealing with an immigration court backlog of 3 million cases, more than 1 million of whom have filed for asylum already. "Only about 3 percent of the people who have submitted green card applications will receive permanent status in the United States in fiscal year (FY) 2024," per a Cato report from earlier this month. "The U.S. Border Patrol had nearly 250,000 encounters with migrants crossing into the United States from Mexico in December 2023, according to government statistics," reports the Pew Research Center, calling December 2023 the "highest monthly total on record, easily eclipsing the previous peak of about 224,000 encounters in May 2022." The situation has not abated so far in the first two months of 2024.
The southern border is facing extraordinarily high crossing volumes coupled with total inefficiency at processing claims quickly while piling red tape on these migrants that disallows them from seeking gainful employment once here. And we wonder why places like New York—a fertile receiving ground for these migrants due to a "right-to-shelter" mandate put in place in the '80s, which was supposed to guarantee overnight shelter to all who sought it but has in fact done nothing of the sort—is souring on its obligation and seeking to overturn it.
The system can only take so much. This new polling data lends credence to the idea that voters across the country are increasingly frustrated by the status quo, in which taxpayers in some places are denied services they were promised while migrants suffer on the streets or in ill-equipped shelters, with no clear path forward.
Scenes from New York: Literal communists are marching in Downtown Brooklyn. It is their right to do so, but I am also within my rights to be grouchy.

As of this morning, over 100,000 Democratic voters had chosen “uncommitted” instead of casting votes for Joe Biden…
Come November uncommitted will no longer be their candidate of choice.
Whether they like it or not.
What if we insert some fine print that legally converts "uncommitted" into "vote for me"?
Nah. Just throw their ballots in the trash and have a community organizer fill out a new one correctly.
Well, I guess I sort of agree - people who vote for Biden should probably be committed.
A lot of democrats should be locked up for cause anyway.
Didn't the DNC adopt a bylaw a few cycles ago that they would no longer seat uncommitted delegates?
Apparently not. There will be two uncommitted delegates sent from Michigan to the convention.

I'm confident the administration and journalists can change that focus for most people as the election approaches.
Literal communists are marching in Downtown Brooklyn.
I'm afraid they're not all going to make it onto the central committee if they ever achieve their ideology.
“Tote bag class.” Their virtue is bigger than anything.
It’s actually a good thing that they’re not interacting with poor laborers.
And they have the yard signs and social media badges to prove it.

All true, but I didn't see a tote bag in the whole bunch on the video.
And, of course, Libertarians could always use graphic design services like 4imprint and make their own tote bags to give the accessory a better reputation.
They could be embossed with messages like: "This bag is filled because I practice Free-Market Capitalism!" Or "Get your own damn 'cup of coffee a day,' NPR!"

Why isn’t it cool to say you just hate Communism and Commies? It’s expected to say how much you hate Nazis, and how they are unpersons (like they said of the Jews). Commies are literally 10x worse. You shouldn’t be “grouchy”. You should wish you had a machine gun
I have a theory, of course.
Germany was a modern industrialized civilized country, with plenty of famous writers, artists, composers, and so on. Hitler destroyed it on the world stage; foreigners could still visit before war started in 1939. This public destruction made the Nazis eternally reviled.
Russia was backwards in almost every aspect. They lost an embarrassing war to an upstart nation of yellow people in 1905, they still had slaves known as serfs, they used an alphabet which no one could even pronounce or sound out, let alone understand the language. They had a few famous writers and musicians, but it was generally a cultural wasteland. Along came Lenin, who died too soon to leave much of an impact other than the noble one whose legacy was ruined by Stalin. But Stalin forced the country into the modern age, eliminated slavery, instituted full literacy, and defeated the awful Nazis. Foreigners were not welcome unless they were useful idiots like Duranty and the few foreign communists who were dealt with appropriately when they discovered the truth.
That's why Communists are admired and Nazis reviled.
Also, "collectivism isn't inherently evil" - a view expressed by some commenters here, is pretty widespread today.
That doesn't explain why Nazis and Communists are treated differently, since both were collectivists.
Except the Nazis aren’t necessarily evil just because of “collectivism”, they’re evil for starting ww2 and gassing jews, etc.
But Stalin had started killing Jews and expelling them to Siberia too. He just kind of died as he was getting started.
Stalin did that to a fair number of minorities within Russia. Research his treatment of the Volga Germans, even before WWII.
Not to mention the Ukrainians.
Hell, German Communists survived better in Nazi Germany than in Stalinist Russia.
Which goes back to alphabet’s point about perspective about the two different regimes.
Ironically the commies in the west now wouldn’t necessarily care if they learned Stalin killed jews.
Correct, my view though is the nazi's aren't hated for their collectivism, but for their mass murder of jews, and probably for the fact that they're the villains in Indiana Jones and several other movies.
The fact that communists committed similar crimes on a grander scale is, sadly, a combination of don't know, don't care for most people.
Well they kind of stopped teaching History in the schools and replaced it with Social Studies.
That certain someone is an ignorant ass.
I think there’s some validity to that.
That may be the view of Western socialists and communists, but pre-revolutionary Russia was hardly an intellectual wasteland. Sure, the alphabet was different, but it has the same roots as the Latin one - Greek, but it was fully understandable to those within Russia. As for the serfs, they were granted freedom in 1861 under Tsar Alexander II, well before the Bolsheviks pulled their bullshit.
A. You can look at German writing and make a decent guess at pronouncing it, even understanding some of it. You cannot do the same with Cyrillic.
B. Every country has some culture. Russia had 1/100th the famous writers and composers and thinkers.
C. Serfdom was only abolished in some places and on unfair terms. Anyone who thinks serfdom actually vanished in 1864 also thinks blacks become full citizens in 1865.
The discussion is about Western impressions of Nazis and Communists, not about Russian impressions of Communism.
Yes, and Western impressions could be rather off. Cyrillic really isn't that difficult if you know something of Greek.
Then there's Arabic (which looks like squiggles to me) and Chinese logographs. Then there's Japanese, which has two nice syllabic scripts, hiragana and katakana, but for some reason uses Chinese logographs for kanji, but altering the meaning from the original Chinese completely, in addition to the hiragana and katakana.
I had no idea about hiragana and katakana before I took Japanese in college.
Had hiragana down cold and when the professor said we'll be learning katakana next, I heard my brain say "That's it. I'm out!"
Never could get it.
One Word, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. Oh alright three words.
Brilliant and incredibly depressing, which seems to be a Russian thing.
Ha!
I would be depressed if I were Russian too.
Russian literature isn’t all like Dostoevsky. I know because my uncle majored in Russian literature and kept sending me things that he liked. (He may have been the only non-communist in the US majoring in Russian around 1960 without intending to join the CIA.)
Anton Chekov was pretty much in the mainstream of western literature of the late 19th Century. In a good translation, only the names and some of the settings give away that this is a Ukrainian-Russian author.
Tolstoy was somewhat different from western literature of the same period when he assumed his readers had all of a 9-month winter to read one book and could remember a hundred characters while reading it – including 3 names and a nickname for each one. Also, he had this sort of “noble peasant” ideology underlying his work – akin to but different than the “noble savage” philo-BS-ophy that permeated too much western literature.
Then there was the black humorist Nikolai Gogol. (Another Ukrainian.) I’m pretty sure his stories would be rip-roaringly funny – if I understood the very Russian and medieval settings and society that are fundamental to his stories, without having to look everything up.
It’s much simpler than that.
Our Lefty Cultural Gatekeepers (who were also disproportionately Jewish - not a call out to Obergruppenfuerer Misek or Grand Mufti JewFree - just a fact) were sympatico with Commies, if not Commies themselves, and had gone to war with Fascists in Spain before WWII ever began.
Growing up in Middle America (far from the coastal elites) during the Cold War, being a Commie was the worst thing you could be. Once the Berlin Wall came down, Communisms atrocities were memoryholed quickly in popular culture and academia, and anti-Nazism began to rise even as the imaginary specter of resurgent nazism did not rise.
Hell, the New Left were open marxists who celebrated Mao's Cultural Revolution and lionized the communist revolution in openly propagandistic drek like "Reds."
This public destruction made the Nazis eternally reviled.
That doesn't track with the New York Times' fawning pre-war coverage of Germany.
In fact, one of the great sins for the cultural elite is that Nazis went to war with the Communists. A lot of them were quite fine with Germany going to war with the traditional empires of France and Britain, but attacking the communist utopia was a step too far. You can see that a lot of sentiment about American participation in the war started to turn after June 22, 1941, the date of Operation Barbarossa.
I don’t think you’re a million miles from the truth. “Backward society kills millions” isn’t a shock. “Advanced society kills millions” is.
Also, though in practice Communism tends to produce mass murder, it’s not explicit in Communist principles – which means you always get idiot apologists to claim that it’s never been properly tried. And these idiots persist to this day. As with the rules of chess where though the rules of chess don’t explicitly state what openings are strong or weak, inherent in the rules, that is, given what the rules are, the English opening is strong. Likewise, Communist principles nowhere state that mass murder is legitimate - which gives its apologists some wiggle room - but when it is a characteristic of every actual Communist state, then it is definitely inherent.
But mass murder and genocide are explicit in Nazism. Note the contrast in WW2 – generals imprisoned by Stalin were freed and put in charge. Meanwhile the Nazis pulled resources away from combat to continue to murder Jews. The Soviets didn’t build an entire infrastructure whose goal was genocide.
And further, of course, there were no major literary figures or movements outside Nazi Germany who praised it, but Communism – sure, like Sartre and GB Shaw and many others guilty of les trahison des clercs. A failure of marketing on the part of the Nazis, perhaps…
The Tsar emancipated the serfs in 1861 two years before Abe issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Stalin eliminated slavery? Yeah right! Liberated them straight into gulags.
Communism is an anti-human genocidal ideology and should be treated as such.
No apologetics required.
Or possible to any sentient being.
It's not genocidal - it's equal-opportunity lethal.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Book_of_Communism
Thanks for proving my point. Genocide has a specific meaning.
Lenin and his successors excluded from humanity all capitalists, the bourgeoisie, counterrevolutionaries
(not an exhaustive list of victims, of course)
BTW I strongly recommend Grossman’s “Life and Fate”.
I've hated them both since I seen and read of Hitler and Stalin in the set of World Book Encyclopedias as a second-grader at age 7.
I hated them both further in Junior High when I read Today's Isms: Communism, Fascism, Capitalism, Socialism by William Ebenstein. Later versions of this book with new editors added Libertarianism to the list, which shows that freedom-lover have broken some ground in Academia.
I never saw the Totalitarianisms as any different than The Jets and The Sharks in West Side Story..
A Rockeye would be more appropriate there.
Why isn’t it cool to say you just hate Communism and Commies? It’s expected to say how much you hate Nazis
My guess is it’s humankind’s seemingly innate desire for fairness. Anyone that has been around 2 or more kids knows the refrain, “NO FAIR.” And studies show that many will accept less money if it’s equally distributed rather than more money if others get a larger percentage (people are dumb).
Nazism is based on elite rule and privileged classes to the extreme that undesirables may be outright exterminated. Nazism is based in status and power and militarism. It allows rich and powerful people. Communism promises equality and fairness and ignores other human natures: hierarchy and desire for status and power. Those human natures will never allow the former to happen and instead communism attains elite rule and privileged classes to the extreme that undesirables may be outright exterminated.
Also, people are dumb.
The Reds had better PR before and after WWII. I don't recall the NYT ever shilling for Hitler.
And Duranty's Pulitzer Prize has never been withdrawn - for reasons that amount to, "If he might have been incompetent and deluded instead of lying and writing propaganda, it was Pulitzer Prize material."
They don't know that because they can't do the math. They're called Useful Idiots for a reason.
Math is racist!
A federal judge in Texas on Tuesday ruled that a $1.7 trillion government funding bill was unconstitutionally passed in 2022 through a pandemic-era rule that allowed lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives to vote by proxy rather than in person.
.
In a 120-page ruling, opens new tab, Hendrix said that for over two centuries before the "novel" proxy voting rule's adoption, Congress understood that the Constitution's quorum clause required a majority of members of the House or Senate to be physically present to have quorum to pass legislation.
"Supreme Court precedent has long held that the Quorum Clause requires presence, and the Clause's text distinguishes those absent members from the quorum and provides a mechanism for obtaining a physical quorum by compelling absent members to attend," he wrote.

OK, everyone give their Biden Bucks back.
I’ll have to make it in installments.
I didn’t want to touch the shit at all and held out for nearly three years and wanted to send it all back.
But I could never reach the IRS by phone to find the return address, NC has some onerous State Inspections, and repairing two attempts to steal my catalytic converter in one year completely broke me! “Mostly peaceful” Gremlins.
But I still intend to work harder and send it back ASAP with a note saying: “Fuck ‘Stimulus’! I want my economy back!”
I know the law is the law, but I honestly don't have a problem with politicians working remotely. If I had my druthers, maybe emptying out DC and letting it revert to a swamp would be a net positive. A capital is a throwback to an era where travel and communication were difficult, making proximity necessary to do their jobs. Working remotely might undermine the "court" mentality that prevails in so much of our government.
I would be concerned of certain people being able to control remote communication.
It sure would be a shame if Thomas Massie’s internet went down at certain times.
Or Rand Paul's internet drops in the middle of a filibuster.
"Senator Paul, are you there? ... We seem to have lost connection with Senator Paul. Oh no! Anyway..."
Same with the addendum, repeal the permanent apportionment act. If our reps don't need the physical seats anymore than they don't need to cap the number of House members.
I'm sure some people would love Biden being 100% remote. Weekend at Bernie's meets Max Headroom.

You must understand that to the left when they use government power it isn't politicization in their eyes. It is merely the natural order of things where they are always correct and it is just to destroy those that would seek to oppose them.

Fiona told us the send-'em-to-blue-areas approach totally backfired because the blue areas were thrilled to have them!
(Fiona's source: 24 hours on Martha's Vineyard.)
Free pizza and a blanket is Fionas demand.
Free pizza, a blanket, and a job at the Koch facility of choice.
What really is Fiona’s answer to the insane surge of asylum requests? Do we need to triple the number of courts, judges, and administrative staff to hear all asylum requests? That’s a huge growth in government that doesn’t seem very libertarian.
Or do we just grant asylum to literally everyone as they walk in? Just a huge supply of green cards at every point of entry, and all anyone needs to do is write down their name? It still doesn’t really answer the question of what is to be done with them, who show up without a place to stay and without any plan for what kind of job they’re going to do. It seems likely then that they just end up using entitlements unless we specifically deny them to asylum seekers, because they’re otherwise unable to support themselves.
Which brings me back to the basic conclusions: end all entitlements. End unemployment benefits, end welfare, roll back social security and Medicare. Then we can open the borders and everyone has to fend for themselves or rely on charitable organizations.
End all entitlements, then allow private employment based sponsorship. Strawberry farms Inc. provides basic shelter, clothes, food, for a short period of time and the migrant works off his debt. If at anytime he can no longer work off his debt, he gets deported.
Good luck with that.
According to the fascists, working off debt is slavery, and you are now a racist slaver.
Isn't that indentured servitude?
Indentured, yes. Involuntary, no.
There were plenty of indentured servants who came over to the colonies voluntarily, specifically because they'd be done after seven years or whatever. That doesn't change the fact they technically weren't free of their own accord.
I guess the difference here is that I am offering a free boat ride back to Ireland (plane ride back to Mexico). If they give up.
I agree with all those things, but the problem is beyond that now. Notice how many crimes by illegal immigrants are committed by Venezuelans lately? Meanwhile I’m hearing (have not confirmed) that Venezuela's murder rate is at a 20 year low. So it appears that they really are shipping their criminals into our country.
Thank goodness Bukele just locked his up instead of sending them here.
Been reported that the Venezuelan government and NGOs are providing convicts with fake ID and sending them on their way.
We need to ship them back. Load them on a plane and fly them back to Venezuela.
Yeah, what does the crime ratio for "immigrants" look like if we divide just by the number of border crashers?
I have an idea.
Enserf the applicants while the applications are pending.
Under serfdom, they may not leave the estate without permission. They will be allowed to make a living on the estate.
If their request is granted, they are deserfed and may work in accordance with immigration law.
If rejected, they go back home.

Hunter is the smartest guy Joe knows. Hunters job is to keep Joe out of trouble while paying him half of the grift.
But what is Joe's job?
To notify his handlers when he needs a replacement pair of pants.

Islamist militants in Burkina Faso aren’t oppressors so who cares?
Are they white? No? Then I don't see a problem here.
Were the Catholics colonizers? Let's just assume they were and the Islamist militants were "freedom fighters." Whatever it takes to keep the "white people and especially Christians = EVUL/ brown people and non-christians = oppressed victims" narrative intact.
There are an awful lot of black Christians in Africa. And they actually take it seriously.
It's probably black on black violence. Which also must be ignored until it gets to Rwanda levels.
Yes, in Burkina Faso the Christians are most likely black.
I'll need to see a Google Gemini AI generated image to be sure...
Sure, the Islamist militants were “freedom fighters” - by George Carlin's definition. "Crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fires, so what do freedom fighters fight?"
Everything is a Genocide except for that.
Kindest thoughts to those poor murdered people.
"Father Abraham had many sons" indeed...and they're all just as murderous to each other as Daddy was to their Brother Issac.
Those Islamofsscists who did this atrocity need to see what they're missing on Earth with Mistress Diamondblu before they are shot in the head and sent off to their nonexistent 72 Raisins:

At this point almost all of the progressives I know have come around to the fact that wokeness is not progressive and not good for progressive causes.
Are they vocalizing that like they vocalize every other fucking thing they're against?
The other three kept operating, with one of them making electricity until the year 2,000 (!)
The radiation, however, grew that odd comma.
More likely A.I.
What odd new appendages the power plant staff grow?
"I truly cannot stand the tote bag class––high in formal education, low in experience, always flaunting their morality (which is more developed than yours, they want you to know), totally ignorant of history, won't interact with actual poor people who do manual labor (scary!)"
That reminds me.
When was the last time anyone saw "American Socia1ist"? I kinda miss the boasting about his most recent $1,000-per-plate restaurant experience. 🙁
Jeff is still around. Believe that was one of his socks.
If that's true, it was skillfully done. Disguised the "voice" quite well.
I think it was American Socia1ist who was doing that crappy Tim Scott account. The verbiage was similar to his other socks.
"Senater" Tim Scott? I thought that was Buttplug, even though they had a convo with each other that totally proved they weren't the same person.
American Socia1ist one was actually Buttplug.
https://reason.com/2021/08/31/americas-longest-war-is-over/?comments=true#comment-9076679
Oddly that would make sense with "Senater Tim Scott" sounding a lot like American Socia1ist and Pluggo.
How many fucking socks does Shrike have here anyway?
And how many are sticky?
My favorite one was when he bragged about "running the blockade" and visiting the worker's paradise of Cuba while complaining that the Obama administration's opening the island up to American travelers would ruin the "character" or some such horseshit. That was a good laugh.
Those people are our current intellectual class, at least the dregs of it.
WEENIs. White excessively educated nervous individuals.
The southern border is facing extraordinarily high crossing volumes coupled with total inefficiency at processing claims quickly while piling red tape on these migrants that disallows them from seeking gainful employment once here.
Processing the claims isnt the fucking problem. Allowing fraudulent asylum claims, not enforcing the border, and providing welfare is the problem.
Work permits doesn't solve the issue either. There aren't 7M open jobs for people to keep streaming over. Hochul was able to find around 15k jobs for New Yorks 120 k migrants. Low wage jobs are also supported by welfare.
Stop this nonsense.
A population greater than 30 states has crossed illegally. Jobs and infrastructure doesn't magically appear to take in these numbers. Low skilled worked use a disproportionate amount of public resources. Talking points and job fairies aren't a magic fix.
Wasn't an issue when those racist red border states were the ones bearing the costs for decades.
I love the talking point that it requires legislation to enforce border laws. I can't get in without a passport, and I was born and raised here, as were multiple generations prior. Do we need new laws so the cops can write speeding tickets to people that go above the legal limit?
I was debating a liberal about this once. I asked if they had a passport. They said yes. I asked if they were happy about getting it. Again a yes. I asked why they were happy about it. The answer was so they could travel to other countries.
"Horrifying massacre of Catholics in Burkina Faso over the weekend, possibly by Islamist militants."
No, no. I'm sure it was white American evangelicals, and if they didn't do it I'm sure they incited it.
Possibly Jews.
MAGA Jews?
They're all MAGA now.
Poor poor Misek. Now he will be tossing and turning all night, trying to figure out which side he hates more.
Is there any chance at all it won't be The Jews?
Maybe he and KAR can form a ‘kill LDS/Jews’ pact.
Herr Misek said he supported Trump, even though he called Trump a liar and still wants to outlaw lying, and even though Trump’s In-Laws are Jewish.
If that much cognitive dissonance doesn’t keep him awake with the wheels in his head smoking, nothing will.
🙂

Christian Nationalists?
Atheists conspicuously absent in the story. See my punishment for the Islamofascist murderers in my reply to Fist above.

"...("Biden vs. Trump: The 2024 race a historic number of Americans don't want," declares a recent CNN headline.)..."
Gosh, it's great you chose a supposedly unbiased source for the quote!
(at least CNN is admitting what a disaster droolin' Joe is)
Joe just had an unscheduled stop at the VA. So they may be forcing him out.
Unscheduled by whom? Not his handlers, I'm sure enough of them knew about it.
Per media reports. Wasn't on his calendar. And they usually get prior notice apparently.
What Tim Urban fails to see is that woke ideology is the the ultimate goal and implementation of progressivism, which itself is totally incompatible with libertarianism as it requires great power be given to the state in regards to what progressivists believe is "equality". Own up to it, oh foolish one!
You mis-spelled equity.
'If you simply pretend they aren't there, maybe they'll go away!'
That's been the winning strategy for the Biden clan for decades.
'New polling from Gallup indicates that immigration is now top of mind for a majority of people when assessing who they want to vote for in 2024.'
If only Democrats can figure out how to link open borders to abortion.
If only Democrats can figure out how to link open borders to abortion.
Free abortions for "migrants?"
"Keeping migrants out prevents their access to free abortions"?
“Keeping migrants out prevents their access to
free abortionswomen's healthcare”?FTFY. Remember, they like to speak in euphemisms when it comes to abortion.
but I am also within my rights to be grouchy.
I'm disgusted but you do you. And if they did ever get power, I'll need to move to an enumerated right, the 2nd one.
That enumerated right will prevent them from getting power.
'This new polling data lends credence to the idea that voters across the country are increasingly frustrated by the status quo, in which taxpayers in some places are denied services they were promised'
Stupid MAGA bigots.
'I wonder what type of break-in would rise to the level of an arrest in San Francisco, if ones involving minor children don't.'
How about when the perp wears a MAGA hat?
'Chernobyl mythbusting'
But the radioactivity killed us all! Just like after Fukushima.
"...Despite this, there were no deaths caused by acute radiation syndrome. Given the uncertain health effects of low-dose radiation, cancer deaths cannot be ruled out.[12] However, studies by the World Health Organization and Tokyo University have shown that no discernible increase in the rate of cancer deaths is expected.[13] Predicted future cancer deaths due to accumulated radiation exposures in the population living near Fukushima have ranged[14] in the academic literature from none[15] to hundreds.[12]
Many deaths are attributed to the evacuation and subsequent long-term displacement following emergency mass evacuation.[16][17] For evacuation, the estimated number of deaths during and immediately after transit range from 34 to "greater than 50"..."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushima_Daiichi_nuclear_disaster_casualties
Yes, it's wiki, but it's been similarly reported in many places: Nobody died from radiation, but many died from the fear of radiation.
So they died with radiation?
Those that wore masks and got the vaccine were the only survivors.
'With' radiation.
Oops. Late to the party with the ‘with’ joke.
Biden most likely just assumes the "uncommitted" will get back on the plantation and "vote blue no matter who" in the general election, so no need to acknowledge them. Unfortunately he's probably right.
They aren't enough of a difference to swing the vote, not all of them will actually sit out next election, and more importantly acknowledging they are real and why they exists involves acknowledging that their anti-sematic views are actually mainstream democrat views. Which could seriously hurt him.
True, there's not really much political upside to acknowledging them and quite a bit of downside, so ostrich tactic it is!
Probably more of the Undecided will still vote for Joe than current "never trumpers" will click the box for Trump.
"This is the argument you make when you still think “woke” = “liberal social justice.” In fact, they are polar opposites. At this point almost all of the progressives I know have come around to the fact that wokeness is not progressive and not good for progressive causes. The woke worldview, mentality, and tactics are diametrically opposed to the kind of liberal progressivism that brought us women’s suffrage, civil rights, and same sex marriage. If your goal is to “lift and support those who need it most,” defending a deeply illiberal movement is not the way to get there."
In the spirit of the above I'd like to share some of my favorite quotes on Wokianity. Please share your favorites too. I'd love to read them:
Wokeness is not about taking power from The Man. Wokeness is The Man’s way of securing his power over the rest of us.
The story of this era is how evil and tyranny arose from relentless, pitiless virtue. It's a remake of a far older story. Some tale about devils arising from angels drunk with the sight of themselves in the mirror.
Wokism is munchausen-by-proxy as ideology and turned into policy
“It’s a strange paradox, that the liberals are illiberal in their demand for liberality. They are exclusive in their demand for inclusivity. They are homogenous in their demand for heterogeneity. They are somehow un-diverse in their call for diversity — you can be diverse, but not diverse in your opinions and in your language and in your behaviour. And that’s a terrible pity." - Stephen Fry.
We are now finally witnessing the logical fruition of their radical utopia: Censorship, electronic surveillance, internal spying, monopolies, cartels, conspiracy theories, weaponization of the intelligence agencies, pouring billions of dollars into campaigns, changing voting laws by fiat, a woke revolutionary military, book banning, bleeding the First Amendment, canceling careers, blacklisting, separate-but-equal racial segregation and separatism.
The most telling moment in Animal Farm was when the animals came out and saw Squealer literally changing the words of one of the commandments in the middle of the night. And they went along with it.
The contempt for the plebs is the biggest source of poison here. But then feeling contempt for “deplorables” is a major source of self-esteem for all the insecure gentry-class types that run America.
Do you remember what happened in China during the cultural revolution?
It's not about your character or what you do or what you believe. It's about your skin color or about what's between your legs or about the class you belong to. They're going to come get you. They might not come get you first, maybe they will, but they will come to get you. So, don't think your liberalism is going to come save you. It's a lie."
In the 1950s many writers asked themselves how the towering German and Russian cultures that produced some of the greatest achievements of human intellect could have been captured by Himmler, Hitler, Yagoda, Yezhov, Beria and Stalin. The antics of academia are sobering.
The brutal absurdity of the Chinese cultural revolution is proof that thousands of years of culture are no guaranty against butt naked craziness.
Wokism is munchausen-by-proxy as ideology and turned into policy
Let me be clear here: The woke don't cancel others because they’re good people who just feel too strongly about injustice. It’s because they’re terrible, awful, evil people who are using injustice as an excuse to indulge their garbage natures.
Woke ideology has a sacral and religious function to its acolytes
Someone will be described as “controversial” but no one will explain the so-called controversy because it’s a big pile of innuendo and assumption and implication used to assert opportunistic outrage.
The wealthiest, most privileged generation of children in the history of the world, and they pule and groan about microaggressions, triggers, being othered, safe spaces, and their own personal pronouns. As if any of that shit matters, or ever could matter. Fuck them, and fuck their enablers.
“Every great idealist begins as a rebel, becomes a square, and eventually degenerates into a narc.”
There's nothing decent, tolerant or polite about the politically correct.
They're race-baiters, Second Estate class warriors and inept social engineers. Fulminating, bitter, self-righteous tweeters and tumblrers calling down the harpies on anyone insufficiently adjusted to the new bien-pensant parameters of the day.
Strange that people who routinely dismiss the views of "old, white men" never seem to apply this principle to Karl Marx. Or Herbert Marcuse. Or Adorno, or Foucault, or Derrida... or Corbyn, or Sanders or Pierre Trudeau.
We shall soon be in a world in which a man may be howled down for saying that two and two make four, in which people will persecute the heresy of calling a triangle a three-sided figure, and hang a man for maddening a mob with the news that grass is green.
So much context, so much nuance. All of these intersecting nexuses that only they can divine, and somehow those divinations always come up such that they are allowed to do whatever they want and their enemies are allowed to do nothing.
You can convince the Woke of absolutely anything, as long as it’s false. Gotta keep up with the Jim Joneses.
Blasphemy is still an offense, but the gods are different.”
Sometimes woke rhymes with volk
It's no coincidence that woke rhymes with yoke.
Now, the logic of Wokeness suggests that the value of your opinion lies in your group identity, the idea is that if I attack your ideas, if I say that you have bad ideas, what I am really doing is attacking you personally; I'm really attacking your identity. I'm "aggressing" you.
“We call ourselves the Good Guys and call everyone who disagrees "Nazis" and "Racists".
How can people not understand this? We can never do anything wrong because we’re opposing Nazis and Racists.
It’s so simple to understand.
Everything we do is justified because we’re the Good Guys and they’re Nazis and Racists.”
They can’t hear the rest of us, so they assume we can’t hear them.
The Woke elites present themselves as anti-fascist and anti-racist, but this is merely a way of defending their class interests.
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law

Love 'The Trees' reference from Rush. Fellow Canadians? 🙂
"The Trees" is lyrically my favorite Rush song. "Tom Sawyer" is 2nd.
Musically I'd probably go with "Spirit of Radio" just for how they transition through different genres as though you were switching through the stations on the radio.
People that think "men only" spaces don't exist have never be to a rush concert
Haley after SC was saying something like "I may have only gotten 40% of the vote, but that's 40% of the party that doesn't want Donald Trump".
Her implication was, of course, that maybe those voters would sit out the general election, or maybe even vote for Biden, rather than vote for Trump.
But on the face of it, the first thing I thought was "And 60% of the party just said they didn't want Nikki Haley."
She says she can beat Biden...Nikki Haley couldn't even beat "None of the Above" in Nevada when Trump wasn't even on the ballot.
Trump is 100% not the person I'd like to be president, but Hillary Clinton was 247% not the person I wanted to be president, and Joe Biden is 167% not the person I want to be president.
"...Trump is 100% not the person I’d like to be president,..."
Care to tell us why?
TBQH Trump's personality grates on me. I dislike the brash boasting and the self-love. But I can live with that as long as he governs like he did last time. I very much like what he actually did.
Of course, my ideal candidate would talk like Rand Paul, but that's not an option right now.
This is also going to piss some people off, but I really like what Robert Kennedy is saying right now. He seems to have had a Road to Damascus Experience on a lot of his former positions. If we could only get him to rethink nuclear he'd be fantastic.
Agree with your comments on Trump’s personality. Another thing that bothers me about him is the way he speaks (tonality of voice?) invokes, as the Brits might say, “he’s having us on” or, in other words, drips with insincerity. It isn’t so bad my having to defend him against felony allegations and “lawfare”, or that he’s a racist, or spoke well of Nazis, or a dozen other things he’s alleged to have done by the lying MSM, but I haven’t found a way to defend or explain away his insults, boasting, and 8th grade bully persona.
"...but I haven’t found a way to defend or explain away his insults, boasting, and 8th grade bully persona..."
Why bother? remember "utopia isn't an option"?
While you're awaiting the second coming, reality says these are your options: Really rotten policy with a lame personality, or the best policies we've had in a long time combined with a grating personality.
Why bother?
The funny thing is, this was, supposedly, the lesson from The Clinton Era; "What does it matter if the guy's a slimeball who plied a subordinate for sex as long as he's not *really* fucking things up, who cares?" in that vein people saying, "Trump is a lying bully and I can't get past it." seem like the ones "having us on" even if they weren't alive for the Clinton Administration (they should be able to remember it).
"....The funny thing is, this was, supposedly, the lesson from The Clinton Era; “What does it matter if the guy’s a slimeball who plied a subordinate for sex as long as he’s not *really* fucking things up, who cares?” in that vein people saying, “Trump is a lying bully and I can’t get past it.”..."
But the two are not equivalent. It's not that Trump is "not *really* fucking things up"; he's the best POTUS we've had since Silent Cal. And his (strictly verbal) bullying and his penchant for stretching the truth are in no way equal to, say, Bubba's use of the AK HP to chase up hookers.
You may recall all the GOP types telling us how "character" mattered, when Clinton was president. Evidently it only mattered when the president was a Democrat.
"You may recall all the GOP types telling us how “character” mattered, when Clinton was president..."
Yeah, to TDS-addled steaming piles of shit, mean-tweets = fucking an intern in the oval office, right steaming pile of shit?
You sure like to cram everyone into old tropes, don't you?
All the people you assign to the right-wing here rage against Bush and Cheney, are anti-war, hate the neocons, quote Greenwald, Taibbi, Gabbard and Weiss, and never ever invoke Fox News, but you're trying to pretend they're all the same thing as Bret Stephens or Paul Ryan.
Pretty much agree. Trump alternates between very good governing instincts, hilarious trolling and petty whining. I'm willing to take the former and ignore the latter. And I would take RFK Jr. in a heartbeat over Biden or probably whoever the Libertarians come up with. I'd rather have Vivek who's probably the closest thing we've got to Javier Milei in the US but his time has not yet come.
An example of his good governing instincts, please.
Tax cuts, the SCOTUS appointments, taking the US out of the Paris 'ageement', appointing DeVos, meeting with Kim, etc...
Now give me at least one from your fave POTUS, TDS-addled shit.
Abraham Accords, USMCA, First Step Act...
TBQH Trump’s personality grates on me. I dislike the brash boasting and the self-love.
He does "Main Character Syndrome" well. To the point that he pisses a lot of people suffering "Main Character Syndrome" and ascribing it to other people (and not calling it Protagonists Syndrome) off. He's Les Grossman, the antagonists' antagonist, in a nation full of people convinced they're the protagonist.
I can deal with the brash boasting and the self-love if he also did not make it all about him and his exalted role. I really don't want a Dear Leader, and don't want to encourage people, left or right, who do.
I really want Trump this time.
I want to see the reaction of Antifa, BLM, liberal white women wearing cat/vagina hats, Trannies, nonbinaries, pedos, soy-betas, and the barista class.
Yeah, I'm not a Trump fan, Trumpista, in Sarc's/Pluggo's imagined "cult", but I want to see all of those you mentioned shit their collectivist pants.
Ya think they will storm the Capitol?
And everybody leave that says they'll leave if he is elected
Interesting that Canada is the only option for those who threaten to leave. I mean, what's wrong with Mexico?
Too many "brown" people for the progtards?
To the left, everybody leaving is like everybody dying. They are absolutely sure it will happen, but never does.
So far, her best showings are in a New England state, and the safe red state where she was governor--and she still couldn't get over 43%. She got beaten even worse last night, and will get obliterated on Super Tuesday.
And even in the event that Trump becomes unable to be nominated for whatever reason, she still won't be the nominee because the convention will be a free-for-all, if others don't restart their campaigns ahead of time to try and snatch up Trump's delegates.
The NeverTrumpers remaining in the party are chest-puffing that "you can't win this election without us!" but don't want to acknowledge the reality that they can't win it without Trump voters. They still operate under the paradigm that they can ignore or give lip service to the culture war wing of the party like they did from the mid-80s to the mid-2010s, and the rank and file will fall in line. I doubt they'd be parroting the left's "country over party" false dilemma if Haley was at 50% or greater of the GOP polls.
So far, her best showings are in a New England state, and the safe red state where she was governor
It should be noted that those impressive showings were in open primaries.
Yeah, that's part of it. It's also a good indication of why NeverTrumpers want ranked choice voting and oppose closed primaries, because any influence they might have on the GOP nomination process gets nerfed when they aren't allowed to artificially influence the primary.
She is a female Baghdad Bob at this point. Spend a ton of money, go to a state with no chance, lure enough D voters that would never in a million years vote for her in a general, get on stage and brag about how getting her teeth kicked in is a win, rinse, and repeat.
Careful Liz, you're coming dangerously close to sounding like one of those "right wing extremists" I keep hearing about with spicy takes like this.
I might have to steel "tote bag class."
What does the Venn diagram of tote bag class and limousine liberal look like?
You can fit several bag toters in one limousine.
hopefully someone will come along with "and roll it off a cliff" ...
A circle.
Steel tote bags are probably pretty heavy.
I might have to steel “tote bag class.”
I've heard "tote bag class" before, but the concise accuracy and general applicability of "flaunting their morality (which is more developed than yours, they want you to know)" makes my knees weak.
I’ve heard “tote bag class” before
Speaking of which, did anybody get any clarity about Diane Reynolds (Paul.)'s shadow ban and/or did he just use it as an opportunity to ride off into the sunset/greener pastures?
Current visiting family in Tucson, and the only tote bags I have seen, outside of supermarkets, are in the hands of the, um, unhoused (and unwashed) wandering around the streets and parks.
So I guess in SF, as long as you can find an unlocked door somewhere you can just go ahead and take a nap wherever.
I wonder, if the girls had beaten him to death with softball bats, would they be arrested for murder?
What’s the point of doubling the police force if they just decide there’s no crimes being committed?
Placating voters and union dues?
In SF?
Damn right.
Hate crime all around.
“Would they be arrested for murder?”
Only iif the homeless guy were trans
Not if they’d thrown the body into the bay at night without getting caught by one of the boats that’s always on the water.
Some men would pay a lot of money for that kind of action.
The fundamental axiomatic flaw of the “Anti-Woke” mind is that it allows groups with historical power to play the victim by taking anecdotal examples and packaging them into a conjured, conspiratorial ideology that threatens to upend the power structure they have been dependent…
The fundamental axiomatic flaw of the "Woke" mind is that it's based on a fake oppressed/oppressor duality that provides the self-justification they need to destroy stable functioning, high-trust societies in the vain belief that doing so will lead to the communist utopia.
That’s what Elon tweeted, which Mark Cuban replied to in a weak woke word salad, which is what Tim Urban replied to.
The fundamental axiomatic flaw of the “Anti-Woke” mind is that it allows groups with historical power to play the victim by taking anecdotal examples...
At what point do "anecdotal examples" become "data?"
When those examples support the left-wing narrative rather than the right-wing one.
At the gut level, woke victimhood is the classic 13 year old girl who lives in comfort and relative privilege, but is sure life is unfair since she is under the thumb of her rich and powerful parents.
Chernobyl mythbusting:
Instead of growing a third eye or something, the wolves that now inhabit the exclusion zone may have developed a genetic defense against most forms of cancer.
The southern border is facing extraordinarily high crossing volumes coupled with total inefficiency at processing claims quickly while piling red tape on these migrants that disallows them from seeking gainful employment once here.
Are you kidding us? Seriously. Are you? Do you really think that people are upset about the border crisis because goshdarnit there's just too much red tape in processing and admitting them?
I mean, I get it. You don't agree with the immigration restrictionists. But, trying to pretend the nature of the problem is something other than what it is is dishonest.
I think most people are concerned because in the past 3 years:
a) there have been more people 'caught' crossing
b) without even bothering with the legal process
c) and then released into the USA
d) from many various countries (Mexico is barely top 3 these days)
e) without being vetted at all
f) than the entire populations of 39 states
g) being handed cash, hotel rooms, catered meals, cell phones h) being told there’s nothing to do about it i) we’re racists for even thinking something is wrong
Absolutely.
And I get that Team Reason doesn't see this as a problem. Okay. But, a lot of people disagree with them. If Wolf were to say they're wrong, I'd understand. If Wolf were to offer some resolution other than state restrictions, I'd be good with that. But, pretending they're upset that people just aren't being let in fast enough defies credulity.
Talking head on the news just said something like "Democrat turnout was still higher in Michigan, which is not good for Trump."
I just checked NBC's results page, and Trump received more votes (756,981) than the entire D turnout (Biden 617,459, Undecided 101,108, Marianne Williamson 22,711). And there are still more uncounted R votes ("96% expected votes in (Est. remaining 50,000)" than uncounted D votes ("95% expected votes in (Est. remaining 37,000").
Put another way, Trump, with an actual challenger, still received more votes in Michigan than Biden, who is essentially running unopposed did. OTOH, it's fair to say that because Biden is running unopposed, maybe people stayed home.
So I'm not going to say Trump will win Michigan or anything, it just annoys me that talking heads with an agenda can spit out trivially falsifiable statements that go unchecked. The R primary turnout was 30% or so higher than D primary turnout.
Biden will top the 81M vote number in the general. All of this nonsense is theater. They will rub it in the GOP's face again.
What are we prepared to do?
Talking heads probably think Haley is a Democrat.
Might as well be. She’s a pariah in the Republican Party.
I wouldn't call her a pariah, but her constituency is limited to the last few necons and NeverTrumpers who haven't gone over to the Democrats yet, and still can't admit that they lost their influence because they flaked out on the GOP electorate too many times.
OTOH, it’s fair to say that because Biden is running unopposed, maybe people stayed home.
Also, between Biden's mental state, general orientation to reality, and subjugation to time like the rest of us mere mortals, the idea that he isn't intrinsically opposed is generous.
I don't think that means much. Many people will not bother with the D primary exactly because there is no challenger.
How much of the R turnout was D crossover? More or less than Nikki Haley's votes?
Can get the Muslim votes without Jewish $

Clearly you haven't been following the Super-Mayor Tiffany Henyard saga.
I have. The “current” part is, “of the minute, subject to change quickly”.
There are so many Democrat mayors that are just terrible and have asinine takes right now.
Dunno. Tiffany Henyard has be in like 4th or 5th place.

IMO, the funniest part about the whole thing is that it's Parks and Rec or Bakersfield PD-level corruption around a Pawnee, IN-level town but if you actually turned it into a satire, it would be far and away some of the most hilariously racist stuff most of us have seen on television in prime time in years (if anyone making the pitch weren't lynched in the process of doing do).
She probably wins for blatant corruption and mismanagement. But loses points for being mayor of a pretty rinky-dink place.
Donald Trump still beat former South Carolina governor (and drop-out refusenik) Nikki Haley
She presisted.
She RESISTED.
Actually cool results:
For all the shit we do give Liz, for which she deserves some, I’d like to take this moment to observe 5 solid paragraphs in a Round Up that, at least to me, are solidly objective and libertarian, and manage not to “reluctantly and strategically” support either side or veer wildly off into either the feminist or immigration ditches (to say nothing of slamming car into the gender ideology brick wall).

I think Liz is libertarian enough to consider the matter resolved somewhere between a good, hard slap in the face and a punch in the face from her SO in response. But, yeah, I wouldn't chance it, you know, out of respect.
I will say that Liz Wolfe was a very much needed breath of fresh air.

Pretty fucking disgusting. Sadly expected. This is also why all the suits against Trump are in heavy blue areas and Hunter is filing for venues in areas friendly to democrats.
To state this more simply – in the internet age the federal government will deliberately make sure that you cannot receive an impartial jury. If the feds don’t like you, they will rig the game from the start with a very good chance of success.
And this is just scratching the surface of how the government has broadly gamed the internet in favor of their own ends even just in this specific arena. For quite some time, there has been an undercurrent that face-to-face trials in such a fashion undermine low IQ and lower class defendants without regard for race and that abstracted interactions, like virtual or remote juries, provide a means by which more objective (and equitable but specifically not in the modern 'social' sense) justice may be achieved. They are specifically exploiting the inverse of the phenomenon. Rather than having a jury of peers on the internet in order to do no harm, minimize burden, and bias towards the presumption of innocence, they specifically adopted the retrograde policy of conducting trials by and in front of the King's subjects.
If the feds don’t like you, they will rig the game from the start with a very good chance of success.
This has probably always been at least a little bit true, they're just much more open and obvious about it now. It's almost as if they believe they can do whatever they want and never be held accountable. The tree of liberty could use a little fertilizer.

You could pretty much just copy down all the bits from "Finding Dori" where every five minutes one person leaves the group and a new one enters, they all forget everything that happened 5 minutes ago, declare their previous members and positions as "not true communism/socialism/Marxism", and then insist they've got everything figured out and the Communist Revolution is upon us.

The woke worldview, mentality, and tactics are diametrically opposed to the kind of liberal progressivism that brought us women’s suffrage, civil rights, and same sex marriage. If your goal is to “lift and support those who need it most,” defending a deeply illiberal movement is not the way to get there.
If your goal is “to lift and support those who need it most” and you count (American) women’s suffrage as your chief success… public accommodations civil rights and women’s suffrage as your two chief successes… women’s suffrage, public accommodations civil rights, and same sex marriage amongst your successes, you’re woke.

As always Reason does horrible research
The media has been repeating the pro-Hamas caucus’s claim that it achieved a great victor by getting 13.2% of Michigan Democrats to vote “Uncommitted.” Media coverage has been suggesting that all of these voters voted Uncommitted based on Biden’s refusal to force Israel to stop fighting Hamas. Almost no one bothered to look up what happened in Michigan the last time a Democratic president was running for re-election, Barack Obama in 2012. That year, Uncommitted received 10.7% of the vote, even though Obama was generally much more popular and inspirational to Democrats (and he also wasn’t pushing 80). So, likely only a small fraction of the 13.2% Uncommitted this year were specifically voting about Israel/Gaza. But the pro-Hamas folks ran a nice pr campaign and the media, wittingly or otherwise, went along with it.
So a non American comedian in Ukraine declares that a former American president is unamerican.

Chernobyl mythbusting:
What is the actual myth being busted here? There IS 'an exclusion zone that won't be safe to live in for centuries' with two towns inside them which are now ghost towns. If that is phrased as 'barren wasteland', then that is rather minor semantics.
That there were other nuclear reactors at the site- two of which were under construction and were closed down, three of which were open until 1992, 1996 and 2000. That is at best simply 'I was unaware of that' not myth. The people who worked there were put on part time five hour shifts - and like the clean up crew it is (and remains) a very closed state secret re their health consequences.
Obviously the 'I love the smell of radiation in the morning' wing of 'libertarians' will assume that any other tale is a myth. Course I kinda thought that entire 'wing' of libertarianism was a myth. But then again, I discover new 'wings' of libertarianism all the time at this site. And if the pro-genocide wing of that philosophy exists and is quite huge among authors and commenters here, then who am I to question the 'I eat radiation for breakfast with my bacon' wing.

"... voters across the country are increasingly frustrated by the status quo ... with no clear path forward."
This is patently false! There IS a clear path forward in any sane world, which America - locked in a no-win culture war currently - is clearly not. There is one and ONLY one solution to the immigration catastrophe: end the "asylum" crap immediately; end the "quota" and green card system immediately; let anyone who arrives at a legal entry point (making sure that there are lots of legal entry points) enter the United States after a simple criminal background check and a brief contagious disease screen and proceed to their chosen destinations; let anyone visiting or residing in the United States work at any job they like at whatever pay they find acceptable; let them stay as long as they are supporting themselves.

Lemme guess, Herr Commissar, your clear and simple plan would take about 5 yrs. to implement.

Yeah. Especially the part about working. I find it abhorrent that immigrants are not allowed to support themselves by working, forcing them onto welfare, and then they're demonized for it.
I think you need to start with “reduce welfare to a bare minimum for all citizens”. Otherwise, prior cases have negated the legality of creating a special class of resident who is ineligible for benefits based strictly on status. IOO, the “no benefits if you’re a recent immigrant” is illegal.
“But the uncommitted results show that more people are choosing protest votes than in the last few races, perhaps reacting to historically unpopular candidates. (“Biden vs. Trump: The 2024 race a historic number of Americans don’t want,” declares a recent CNN headline.)” Perhaps you meant more Democrats are choosing protest votes in the Dem primaries. The Republicans are full steam ahead Trump. Or is Ms. Wolfe trying to slime DJT with a “both sides” false narrative?
American Dem or GOP who have lived their whole lives here are such fools. Hamas calls them useful idiots which is what extremists call the fools who believe their BS. DSA calls their lies "Agitpropf" or Agitation and Propaganda. The uncommitted votes are vote for Hamas, who would behead every GOP the soon as they got the opportunity. The only reason they might be delayed is that they were chopping up the Wokers first.

Is voting "uncommitted" just a "protest vote", or does it mean what ti says: that it is a vote to send delegates to the convention who will not be committed in advance to vote for any particular candidate, but will instead be free to vote for whoever they choose based on their own judgement? That would mean, I presume, that there is a slate of actual human "uncommitted" potential delegates ready to go to the convention. Is there?
"But the uncommitted results show that more people are choosing protest votes than in the last few races, perhaps reacting to historically unpopular candidates."
Or, more likely, these people support paragliding rape gangs and are unhappy with a President who - currently at least - does not support paragliding rape gangs.
