Haley Rising
Plus: Late-stage abortions, Hamas feminism, baby bust, and more...

Haley ahead of DeSantis? A new poll of Republican county chairs finds that more of them are flocking to former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, over current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. "Among Republican chairs committed to a candidate, Trump has 37 percent, Haley has 16 percent and DeSantis has 9 percent," reports Seth Masket for Politico. "The candidate who chairs are most vehemently against? Chris Christie."
Why care about county chairs? Masket explains that they "play a key role in shaping the race" since they're "highly attentive to the party's internal dynamics and are influential in local GOP circles; they offer the kind of endorsements that candidates are eager to collect."
At the same time, "they're also still close to the rank-and-file grassroots, and their shifts are likely to signal where the rest of the party is going," adds Masket.
This is despite some of Haley's recent gaffes and, uh, bolder proposals. "I had black friends growing up," she said in a CNN town hall last night after being asked about her recent comments on the campaign trail in New Hampshire, during which she failed to identify slavery as one of the causes of the Civil War. "Of course the Civil War was about slavery," she said later. And last night: "I was thinking past slavery, and talking about the lesson that we would learn going forward. I shouldn't have done that. I should have said slavery. But, in my mind, that's a given. Everybody associates the Civil War with slavery."
Fear not, now Haley is making waves with a bold new proposal for a federal jobs program:
We have to secure our schools the same way we secure our airports.

Islamic State takes credit: Yesterday, I reported that two bombs exploded in Iran at a memorial for top military official Qassem Soleimani, who was killed by a U.S. drone strike four years ago. The explosion yesterday killed more than 100 people. Now, the Islamic State has taken credit for the "dual martyrdom operation" in which two suicide bombers "detonated explosive belts strapped to their bodies," per The New York Times.
Floridians try to get abortion up until 24 weeks: Voters in the Sunshine State are trying to undo abortion restrictions by putting a constitutional right to an abortion on the 2024 ballot.
Florida currently bans abortion after 15 weeks, and Governor Ron DeSantis has also signed into law a ban on abortions after six weeks, which has not yet taken effect.
This is apparently not good enough for many impassioned Floridians. The deadline for getting this issue on the ballot is February 1; the activist group Floridians Protecting Freedom has gathered 863,876 certified signatures, just shy of the 891,876 they need, but with a few more weeks to go, they say it's extremely likely they will get the issue added to the ballot, which would then require 60 percent voter approval to become law. Similar strategies proved successful this past year in Ohio, and the year before in Kansas.
Permitting abortion up until 24 weeks would make Florida far more progressive on this issue than pretty much every European nation, which tend to disallow abortion beyond the first trimester, or 12-13 weeks. Though most mainstream publications don't mention it, babies are the size of an ear of corn around 24 weeks. They can hear sounds outside the mother's body, they have tastebuds, and they can suck their thumbs.
My pro-life bias may be showing, admittedly, and many pro-choicers rebut that very few abortions happen after the first trimester (only 7 to 10 percent of abortions nationwide, though Guttmacher and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data differ in their estimates, which would conservatively total around 60,000, which…doesn't seem negligible to me), but my point is this: the U.S. pro-choice movement is an outlier in attempting to make abortion broadly permissive this late in pregnancy.
It remains to be seen whether Florida voters will be persuaded by the activists' efforts.
Scenes from New York: The "Fearless Girl" statue, by Kristen Visbal, was put on Wall Street in 2017 to promote female empowerment and gender diversity in corporate leadership. It sure is an interesting target for pro-Palestine protesters as Hamas is not exactly known for advocating for the rights of women.

Jack Smith warns if Trump is re-elected he could use the State of the Union address to incite his supporters to kill opposing lawmakers.
Diapers coming off
Uh oh, the Democrats always accuse their opponents of what they're doing or planning on doing. Looks like Trump isn't long for this world.
Jan. 6th: Trump Incites Supporters To Kill Opposing Lawmakers In Commencement Ceremony
Jan. 7th: Congress Initiates Proceedings To Impeach Trump For Plagiarizing Commencement Speech
The media has already forgotten about Hodgkinson, Kavanaugh attempt, and the two different attempts against Trump at campaign events. How many Trump supporters were intentionally hit by cars during 2020? I can remember about 4 but believe more.
Three were by Jeff and one by Sarcasmic, but to be fair to Sarc, he thought the kid was you.
How many Trump supporters were intentionally hit by cars during 2020?
The passive voice of MSM has finally worn you down. Cars don't hit people, deranged psychopaths driving cars hit people.

Lol.
Except red SUVs.
Passive voice isn't the problem. "Was hit by a deranged psychopath" is still passive voice. Can people please learn what "passive voice" means?
It means it's missing the info on who deranged the psychopath.
All of that, in addition to the BLM riots, will be slowly memory holed and will either be unmentioned, or merely a footnote, in the history books.
They will talk, cry and have post-traumatic stress disorder freakouts over the events of Jan 6th for the remainder of time.
Hell, didn't a guy who murdered a young Trump supporter get basically no punishment at all for it?
An affidavit filed by a North Dakota State Patrol officer stated that Brandt called Ellingson a "Republican extremist," though a review of the 911 call transcript shows that wasn't the case. North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind previously told Fox News Digital earlier that there was "no evidence" suggesting that the teenager was part of a "Republican extremist group" or that the incident was politically driven.
Brandt was initially charged with criminal vehicular manslaughter, but Forster County State's Attorney Kara Brinster later upgraded those charges to murder.
On May 2, the charges were reduced to manslaughter and Brandt pleaded guilty on May 18.
According to Fox affiliate KVRR, Brandt was sentenced to five years in state prison but will get credit time served for his house arrest, which reduces his jail time by almost a year. Once he's released from prison, he will undergo three years of supervised probation.
Sounds a little projection-y.
Ah, yes, magic words that somehow cause people to commit crimes!
Jeff was on a bender last night rationalizing why free speech was an insurrection. Exposed all his fascist beliefs.
I don't call him a Nazi without reason. I'm not kidding, most of his principles are versions of Nazi policies with the problem groups swapped.
Like many Nazis he’s also a pervert,
That fat piece of shit was quite impertinent. He should be punished accordingly.
No more 55 gallon drums of Ben & Jerry’s for Fatfuck this weekend.
Not only magic, but also coded! Is there no end to Drrrrrrrrumpf's dastardly machinations?!
That only extreme Trump supporters and leftists seem to get, while the rest of us, either lukewarm Trump supporters or ambivalent towards Trump don't seem to get.
The Trump legal filing for Jack Smith for contempt of court was a massive attack back on Jack Smith. Jack continued to act in a manner despite a stay pending appeals. He knew his submissions would be taken up by media while Trump wouldn't respond. He completely violated the stay.
It also came out yesterday that his top deputy on his team killed investigations into the Clinton Foundation 3 different times.
So, Jack Smith is for sentencing somebody before a conviction.
Hey, Jack, an accused murderer MIGHT kill somebody if they are out on bail awaiting trial. Need to do away with allowing somebody out of jail until the trial is totally over, eh?
No wonder SCOTUS has slapped this idiot down so hard.
Yeah, Jack Smith is a totally unbiased guy you see. He just thinks Trump is going to really start a civil war, not World War 3...or 4. Whatever world war we're on now because of Trump's first term.
It's amazing he can say something like that and not be immediately fired for obvious bias.
Haley ahead of DeSantis?
Ron probably thinks the Civil War was about slavery.
Liz, blink twice if you're being held against your will by Koch Industries.
Yeah, from someone who has to spark up to make it all the way through a DeSantis speech, the 2nd-4th paragraphs read like glowie astroturfing visible from low-Earth orbit.
They're clearly trying to get a preference cascade going for her so she has momentum going into the South Carolina primary and then Super Tuesday. If she can't even win her home state, they know she's done for.
That's also why I'm expecting some reindeer games to come out of the South Carolina primary as well.
IMO, Christie was the tell.
Maybe Haley gained some momentum but 30 seems like a lot. But there's no way Haley *and* Christie gained that much momentum without a lot of eGOP heel clicks of one variety or the other.
Those aren't heel clicks, those are ammunition...things.
Haley may be rising in the polls, but she isn’t causing my pole to rise. She’s certainly no Tulsi.
I bet her insulting Iowa voters recently might be a problem.
...of course, the press does not care.
I do find it odd how little the press attacks Haley.
she's a winner for (D) and (R) and (Raytheon)
Boeing, not Raytheon.
kewl whichever
Only until she gets the nomination, then they will turn on her like a pack of wild dingos on a wounded pack mate. Since she won't get the nomination, barring some miracle that makes Doug Flutie's Hail Mary look mundane, she'll enjoy good press unless she's added to the Trump ticket.
I'd suggest Nikki look at the 2008 McCain campaign and see how harsh the Left is on even "good" Republicans.
She was a decent governor here. But there is not a chance I'd ever vote for her for the WH.
I'm sure she'll get the Palin treatment. It's basically how they treat any woman to the right of Mao*. Especially if they are even halfway attractive. They'd throw a fit if the right did the same to a semi attractive leftist female but crickets when it's aimed at the other side.
*Originally typed right of center, but then remembered the attacks against Gabbard for stepping out of line.
If Haley by some miracle gets the nomination, she will become the female white-supremacist Hitler overnight, the worst threat to democracy that ever walked the planet.
Well, ... yeah. Of course.
It's because they want to run against her, so they'll save up their vitriol for her if she ends up with the nomination. Until then, they'll campaign on anti-Trump fears while dropping bombs on all the candidates they don't want to run against later.
Standard playbook stuff at this point. I wouldn't be shocked if Democrats are helping fund Haley.
Standard playbook stuff at this point. I wouldn’t be shocked if Democrats are helping fund Haley.
Well yeah--they know that even if she wins, she'll be a convenient punching bag and straw(wo)man for four years.
Axlerod was already telling dems to vote for her in primaries where they were allowed to vote for any party.
Open primaries seem completely asinine to me.
They are. There's absolutely no reason someone who's a self-declared independent should be allowed to pick the nominees of political parties. If you want that privilege, join the party. You can always pick whomever you wish when the general election comes up (unless you live in Commierado or the People's Republic of Maine, of course).
Especially when many Dem run states don't have a primary so all their voters can switch to affect the GOP race.
It's particularly crappy when the other party isn't even having a primary.
Yeah, primaries are for the party to choose it's nominee, so the idea of open primaries is largely counterintuitive. We could just go back to choosing at conventions and end primaries. But that's to undemocratic, no instead we'll let the opposition help choose which candidate their chosen party gets to run against. Then you have states like California and Washington, where primaries aren't even decided based on party but which two get the most votes, meaning there may not even be representation from opposing parties just two candidates from the same party.
They are asinine.
But if the parties are going to have the STATES pay for their primaries, it's hard to argue against them.
The cause of the civil war was the same as the cause of all wars: hotheads. The only way to make war rationally is to exterminate whoever you want out of the way before they find out and shoot back. If you can get that degree of stealth and effectiveness, war makes sense. Otherwise you gotta be a hothead.
Now, the Islamic State has taken credit for the "dual martyrdom operation" in which two suicide bombers "detonated explosive belts strapped to their bodies..."
Unfortunately they're going to have to double up on the virgins.
Those two guys really blew that deal.
Nobody needs 72 virgins anyway.
#commonsensevirgincontrol
Ban assault virgins!
Are you saying nobody wants Jeff?
who are you? bernie sanders?
I wonder how many of these “martyrs” died as virgins. That could really be a timesaver, just take 73 virgin martyrs and put them all together and bam, 72 virgins for each martyr.
I... uh... [taps on calculator, scratches chin] a-yup! Checks out.
Won't work, though. First one for each and virginity is lost across the board.
This and:
A must-read from The Free Press: "My Father Is an Imam in Gaza. Hamas Kidnapped Him for Refusing to Be Their Puppet."
Butbutbut...Religion is supposed to be a synonym for morality and without religion, everything is permissable, right?
The actions of anti-theists in the twentieth century amply demonstrated that. Also, the guy who refused to be their puppet is a fucking Imam.
The officially atheist Communist movement killed over 100M last century.
Tell me more about the horrors of religion.
And, just so we're clear, the ultimate goal of Nazi Germany was also to eliminate religion. Replace it with worship of the state. They were just doing it incrementally, since Germans used to be pretty serious about religion.
This is a weird flex on religion considering the guys who kidnapped him are terrorist just using religion to justify their grab for power and the guy who was kidnapped was actually doing the moral thing.
Or am I reading your post wrong?
No, no you aren't he has to remind us every day how edgy of an atheist he is. Almost as tiresome as a vegan in that regards.
Not sure if encog is a vegan, but I seem to recall xer being somewhat of a food snob who will lecture on that topic as well whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Pretty sure anything with a cross would cause the same reaction for it as it would for the children of the night, the undead, vampires.

Guttmacher surveys tell us three things
99% of abortions happen in the first trimester
Most abortions happen because they weren't using birth control.
Late term abortions happen for the same reason as early ones: financial hardship, breakup with the baby daddy.
Which of these point to the necessity of allowing abortions after 12 weeks? The reality is that people are routinely having sex without birth control, and then they don't notice they are pregnant until 12+ weeks. WTF. Is that justification for killing a baby?
" Is that justification for killing a baby?"
They get around this moral conundrum using the "clump of cells" argument.
They get around the moral conundrum by not having a soul or conception of morality and farting out their intellectual emanations of the cud they chew. Even at that, cows tend more often to kill their young after birth on accident by crushing them.
All of the above?
I don't always whistle past graveyards, but when I do, it's not because I'm whistling.
They get around it by using specious arguments regarding health of the mother and it's safer than delivery (it really isn't in late term) and conflating D&C with abortions.
See anything written by ENB for reference.
It sure is an interesting target for pro-Palestine protesters as Hamas is not exactly known for advocating for the rights of women.

Are you talking about TJ or Allah?
Both. That's the joke....
I know several Lees were taken down, but where did they take down TJ?

"Scenes from New York: Why on Earth is city council wasting time on proposals to tear down statues of Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Peter Stuyvesant, and Thomas Jefferson? ("In this house, Christopher Columbus is a hero, end of story.")"
Hooker had a statue?
Ya, they took it down because the name Hooker was insensitive to whores.
Or are whores insensitive to Fighting Joe, who managed to turn a strategic and tactical victory at Chancellorsville into an Union defeat (he stole a march on Lee and had a three day head start before Lee realized the danger he was in, but then he pulled a McClellan and grew cautious, worried about Longstreet's corp, despite his intelligence saying Longstreet was still engaged on the Peninsula and not able to reinforce Lee).
Also, it's a myth whores are called Hooker's because Hooker was tolerant of them in camp, the use of that nickname predates the Civil War. It does appear it was less common, and became more common after the Civil War.
my bad… i was seeing a statue similar to the rocky one in philly – only with william shatner’s corpulent incarnation ????
I guess noone remembers relatively recent IMPORTANT history!
In the Grand scheme of things, Shatner's acting style is probably way more important than how a Union general failed to capitalize on following throw with a victory that could have easily ended the Civil War two years earlier, saving tens of thousands of lives (yes, if Joe had completed his flanking of Lee nothing stood between him and Richmond, so it's conceivable he could have ended the war or severely shortened it). You're right, I stand corrected.
self deprecating comment here... implying television history is the history people now are trained in as opposed to nation shaping history.... just see the courses on celebrities and shows that are popping up at institutions of 'higher learning'
Some modern scholars blame Joe Hooker's loss of initiative on a brain concussion from a Confederate artillery attack. Nowadays, someone suffering from a concussion would be temporarily relieved, but concussions were not understood in 1863.
Also, Stoneman disobeying his orders didn't help, and severely depleted Union Cavalry while not tying up Stuart and not cutting off Lee's resupply by rail. Hooker deserves some of the blame for this too, as Stoneman had already demonstrated his lack of elan and initiative, fatal flaws in cavalry commander. Luckily, Stuart had to much elan later that summer, leaving Lee blind at Gettysburg, the same as Hooker at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg was a bigger defeat strategically for the Confederacy than Chancellorsville had been for the Union, (albeit Vicksburg was even larger but often overlooked both then and now).
She ain’t skerd.
Whose head is she wearing anyway? Daddy Warbucks?
Proposed Reason style guide change:
Consider replacing phrases such as 'pro-Palestine protesters' or 'Hamas supporters' with a more succinct, more accurate term, such as 'terrorists' or 'idiots'.
What's even more amusing is that the Muslim faith does not allow for representations of people in art, from which it follows that the statue itself is a problem for Muslims.
Some white chick did that. I guarantee it.

When Izzeddin was initially arraigned, the deadline for the DA’s office to file his indictment was scheduled for this Wednesday, the source said.
His lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, argued that it should have actually been set for Tuesday, because a few hours passed between the time Izzeddin was placed into police custody and when he was officially arrested, with formal charges filed, according to the source.
Judge Christopher Robles sided with that argument and Izzeddin was granted supervised release, the source said."

But reading the article it's hard not to notice the "all have sinned" religious component. So much of woke is evangelical Christianity with the mercy and forgiveness parts stripped out.

Oh and if you're an Italian American female pop singer you can't call yourself Latina without getting called out for cultural appropriation.
That's (D)ifferent, if your last name is Ciccone.
The left has always been the turn of the previous century evangelical Christian left, just stripped of all the Jesus stuff.
Yup. The same group with the same ethics that pushed for proper management of minority groups while enshrining their own elite status, and at the same time blaming crass capitalists (who often created the family wealth that enabled these crusaders to dedicate their lives to "doing good").
Wouldn't it be more merciful and sensible to just teach children that no one is born sinful or anything else, and that what they do and are morally is up to their own choice and is their own responsibility? And that it is morally reprehensible and ass-backwsrd justice for one person to take the rap for an entire Planet?
Original sin is Catholic doctrine, not an evangelical one. In evangelical circles everyone who is over the age of accountability has chosen to sin in one way or another and was their own responsibility until Christ took the guilt for them.
"And that it is morally reprehensible and ass-backwsrd justice for one person to take the rap for an entire Planet?"
No. Not at all. In fact it's a wonderful idea.
It is sort of like selling Audie Murphy short because he climbed on the back of a burning tank destroyer to save his company. Or Joseph Mann rolling onto a grenade to save his fellow soldiers.
On a personal note, Mann was in the same bad ass mode as Murphy, a kid from Reardan, Washington and the USAR center I used to drill at was named in his honor. He single handed took out a German Machine position, was wounded in the process, refused evacuation, volunteered for guard duty the night after he was wounded and sacrificed himself the following morning. I read his story every drill, as it was the first thing you saw when you entered the center.
Also, my cousins graduated from Reardan High.
This is really, really sick.

No, no, no. Not *violent* violence like you see on the news. Play violence... like pro sports.
If everyone is racist, then you either need to tighten up your definition of racism, or consider the possibility that racism as you are defining it is not the worst thing in the world and doesn't need to be harped on constantly. People have a bias for the familiar and for their own in-group. That's not obviously a terrible thing.
Not everyone likes cookies with raisins. Therefore racism.
Huh, so original sin then. That, or it outright implies that racism is the common bond that all human's share from birth.
The implication from these types must be that American ethnic minorities aren't human, right?
Oh, sorry, I forgot they redefined racism as something only white people can experience. That's totally not racism.

The new report in The New York Times that Russia is quietly signaling a readiness to freeze the war in Ukraine is both suspicious and tantalizing.
The caveats are many: An armistice would leave Vladimir Putin in control of about a fifth of Ukrainian territory. He is not trustworthy; he could use prolonged negotiations to bolster his forces for a renewed push, or to lull Western lawmakers into cutting aid for Ukraine; he may be stalling in the hope that Donald Trump, his preferred choice for president, will return to the White House and stiff Ukraine.
But if Mr. Putin turns out to be serious, Ukraine should not pass up an opportunity to end the bloodshed. Recovered territory is not the only measure of victory in this war.
"Recovered territory is not the only measure of victory in this war."
Indeed. Personal wealth siphoned off of US funding and level 10 media adoration count for something.
Lol.
The problem is that you'd have to be clinically insane at this point to think that Putin is serious.
First, I don't think Putin truly negotiates until after the US election in 2024. It not that long to wait and the payoff would be much greater.
As for the Ukrainians I think it is hard to give up territory when you have paid the price of so many lives. I think the west may need to put up a big ante like NATO membership. That would insure them no more land grabs by Russia.
A guarantee not to join nato will be part of any peace deal.
Maybe Ukraine can get their nukes back.
Neither nafo nor Kiev keeps their word. The deal will be land.
Agree. But Putin will still insist it’s included.
Yes, mostly to troll nafo and the Bandera worshippers when they later go back on it.
Sunk cost fallacy is still a fallacy. Dragging the war on is only causing more death and destruction and Russia has a lot more people and resources than Ukraine.
?
I would think it would be easier.
The mindset that we can't give up now because of the casualties is what made Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan such lengthy conflicts, and largely also contributed to Imperial Germany refusing to negotiate a peace agreement until their army collapsed in fall of 1918. There are several hundred other cautionary tales from military history in regards to this thinking. Hint, none ever really turn out very well for the eventual losing side. Just got done reading a book 'Bismark's War' a history of the Franco-Prussian War, and this kind of thinking is what led to the French continuing their rather futile resistance after Sedan, resulting in tens of thousands of dead French soldiers and civilians long after the near complete destruction of the French field armies. After Sedan, they basically were forced to rely on fresh conscripts, poorly trained and poorly equipped, launching futile and costly offensives and sorties that failed to stop the German siege of Paris and other cities, sound familiar?
Also, just a note, Alsace and Lorraine were predominantly German speaking (Alsatian is a German dialect like Luxembourger or Austrian, not a separate language) and for most of it's history had been considered part of lower Germany, with Strasbourg being one of the most important Imperial Cities in the Holy Roman Empire before Louis the XIV occupied it in the 1640s. Additionally, it had a large Lutheran population, and despite inhabitants who opposed German (re) occupation of Alsace having the right to immigrate freely to France, only a very small percentage of the population so chose to do so. History doesn't repeat itself but it often rhymes.
I would ask you to reconsider your argument. You are correct about Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, but in those conflicts, it was foreigner, the Americans that keep fighting when they might have quit. The Americans with no real ties to the land they were fighting on. I would suggest it is different for a people fighting for their own territory. In the American Civil War, the North sustained tremendous loses initially and there were those that might have sought peace with the South, but Lincoln would not accept splitting the country and losing the South.
See my Franco-Prussian analogy moron. Also, I see you skipped the Imperial German analogy also. Idiot. As for the Union vs Confederate argument, Lincoln didn't ban elections, and was well aware if he lost, then McClellan was going to end the war, despite the casualties, additionally, while the Union didn't do well in the Eastern theater, they were winning fairly easily in the Western theater from very early in the war. And by the second year of the war, they controlled most of Tennessee, controlled a majority of the South's important ports, including it's most important port, New Orleans, controlled most of the Mississippi and it's major tributaries, had stopped Lee's invasion of Maryland and was way ahead in military production, manpower and had fought most of the war on the Southern states land. Which is the exact opposite of Ukraine
Ukraine is much closer to the state that the Confederates where in by the fall of 1863, unable to meet even a small portion of their military and domestic needs, dependent on outside sources which were not always reliable, broke, in a severe manpower shortage, fighting on their own land, against a higher enemy, whose forces continued to increase in size, who out produced them, had vast more wealth, and controlled the ocean for the most part. So, your civil war analogy is flawed, in that Ukraine is much more similar to the Confederates in 18643-65 than the Union in 1861-62.
And the other reason your Civil War analogy fails is that the average age of a Union soldier was in their mid 20s, while the average age of the Ukrainian military is 43. That means they've ran out of young men to conscript or recruit and are relying on old men to fill their ranks, there's a reason that soldiers tend to be younger, especially combat soldiers, because soldiering is not an old mans game, it is hard work, especially in modern combat, hard on your body. That's why old soldiers generally have bad knees and bad backs, because it is physically exhausting and tolling on your body, I've done it and not even in combat, and not in a combat arms, but have arthritis in my back and my knees as a result of my ten years service.
Greenwald had an episode a few weeks ago about the media redefining "victory in Ukraine." Along with the, "We've ALWAYS said this!"
Journalism 101.
The new report in The New York Times that Russia is quietly signaling a readiness to freeze the war in Ukraine is both suspicious and tantalizing.
LOL, uh, it's been pretty obvious since the war kicked off that Russia's main goal was to annex the Russian-majority Donbas areas. If they managed to get more, great, but that doesn't have to be an end goal itself for it to have achieved its primary objective.
This is a tacit admission by the establishment that NATO can't extract Russia out of those areas of Ukraine, and another signal to Zelensky that he needs to start figuring out how to get out of this with enough of his reputation intact that the Nulandites don't start looking for a new puppet to replace him. If not, he's going to get retired to Florida a lot sooner than he might have wanted.
It should also be a signal to NATO that, if you're going to fight a proxy war with a near-peer adversary who's extremely good at playing defense, you better figure out a way to get your war production machine going full-blast. Because it's pretty clear at this point that the US and the west itself has become far too decadent and self-indulgent to maintain a robust defense posture against peer and near-peer adversaries now.
Get the wokies and the penis-envy afflicted females like Victoria Nuland and Samantha Power out of the military and State Department, or prepare to get your shit pushed in when China decides to make its move, while Russia sits back and laughs its ass off.
Last time I checked, the Euro part of NATO has 4 times the population and 10 times the GDP of Russia. Any military vulnerability is deliberate.
I thought that goes without saying.
And we've paid for their security for 70 years.
I was reading an article on RealClearDefense today about how our (the US) lack of rare earth mining and refining had also limited our ability to produce the munitions needed. Rare earths are used even in unguided 155 ml shells (in the fuses). So, the greenies are also limiting our ability to fight, since they oppose any mining in the US.
And as for precision munitions, rare earths are critical.
Also, seems par for the course, while Biden is happy to deplete our stockpiles of munitions giving them to Ukraine, he is also signing EO banning rare earth mining on federal land.
Deplete munitions, deplete petroleum reserves, ...
It's called a pattern.
Like I said, par for the course.
Also, is it okay to point out that his solution to both requires heavy use of rare earths, which China just happens to produce 90% of refined metals and it's purely coincidental that his son took millions from people linked to the Chinese government?
Moscow has maintained being open to negotiating a cessation of hostilities continuously since they began.
Given the position Kiev and the west are in, Russia is going to want a land bridge to Transnistria. Any other agreements in the plan, beyond exact territory transferred, are meaningless to Russia since the western hegemony had broken them before.
Is there room for the Palestinians?
The Palestinian land issue is settled.
Nice.
Palestinian land? Thought that was settled. is better but I went with the original.
But, but negotiating with Putin will just encourage him to attack the rest of Europe. Per the NYT.
Also, if Trump really was so willing to do whatever Putin wants, why did he wait almost a year after Trump left office to invade Ukraine? Sorry, there I go with logic again.
The reality is that no one knows why Putin did chose to invade when he did. People can speculate but never know for sure. What we do know is that the end of the Trump administration was marked by a worldwide pandemic and that minimized hostile actions between countries as internal issues dominated. Putin through the pandemic lived like a hermit and hermits don't tend to start wars, although leaders sometimes end up later hold up like hermits. We also know that President Trump is a disrupter and a divider and I would suggest that he was weakening western alliances. Putin attacking might have stopped this rot, so he might have held off. With western alliance on mend with President Biden in office Putin may have seen the west strengthening and seen Ukraine's favoring alliances with western European nations. Finally, we know Putin favors a Greater Russia and sees Ukraine as part of that GR, he is also getting old and may have seen this as his last chance.
Again, we don't know for sure why Putin attacked when he did. I agree that negotiations are not a harbinger of future attacks, but don't see anything happening before the US 2024 election, as who is President will make a difference.
If “Claudine Gay, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Nikole Hannah-Jones can teach us anything, it’s that it doesn’t matter how much you know, how much you’ve achieved, or how far you’ve come.
Except they know nothing, achived nothing, and traveled no where. Their ‘success’ is based on their skin color and gender, not on merit. The first is a plagiarist, the second a race hustler, the third a fabalist.
Nikole Hannah-Jones says slaves were brought to Virginia in 1619.
The courts say the first slave in Virginia was declared in 1640.
Who are you going to believe?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Punch_(slave)
(BTW, wikipedia edited the article on John Casor, the first 'african-american' to own a slave, to hide the 1619 lie)
Interesting note concerning Wikipedia;
This is the text I captured April 15th.
At this time (1665), there were only about 300 people of African origin living in the Virginia Colony, about 1% of an estimated population of 30,000. The first group of 20 or so Africans were brought to Jamestown in 1619 as indentured servants. After working out their contracts for passage money to Virginia and completing their indenture, each was granted 50 acres (20 ha) of land (headrights). This enabled them to raise their own tobacco or other crops.
This is how it now reads
At this time, there were only about 300 people of African origin living in the Virginia Colony, about 1% of an estimated population of 30,000. The first group of 20 or so Africans were brought to Point Comfort in 1619 as enslaved Africans. After working between 15 and 30 years, most were granted their freedom to purchase land and start their own homestead.
(this bit has been added)
Although most historians believe slavery, as an institution, developed much later, they differ on the exact status of their servitude before slavery was established, as well as differing over the date when this took place. The colonial charter entitled English subjects and their children the rights of the common law, but people of other nations were considered foreigners or aliens outside the common law. At the time, the colony had no provision for naturalizing foreigners.
Welcome to the revolution!
A bit more – – – –
The changes were made on October 29, 2020:
Major restatements were from ‘indentured servant’ to ‘enslaved African’, from ‘Jamestown’ to ‘Point Comfort’ (perhaps to avoid searches including Jamestown? Point Comfort is 40 miles downriver from Jamestown), from ‘granted land’ to ‘granted their freedom to purchase land’ (after serving an indenture, they were free by law, and no granting of the freedom to purchase was needed).

I guess these scholars missed the class when they covered the history of pre-Columbian slavery in the Americas, and the legacy of slavery around the world that probably predates Homo sapiens.
But white people bad.
I guess these scholars missed the class when they covered the history of pre-Columbian slavery in the Americas, and the legacy of slavery around the world that probably predates Homo sapiens.
They never had that class in the first place. The idea of non-whites carrying out slavery is considered completely verboten in academia, and has been for decades. It wasn't even covered in my African History class I took in college in the mid-90s, despite the fact that the Berber and Arab slave trades began earlier, were more widespread, and lasted far longer than the Atlantic slave trade.
With that said, there are exceptions such as Larry Koger's "Black Slaveowners: Free Black Slave Masters in South Carolina, 1790-1860," which is worth a look.
Thanks
Or that never more than 10% of all slave ended up in the British Colonies, and that the first African slaves in what would become America predate the British Colonies, and were the property of the Spanish and their descendants (e.g. Hispanics) or that since the five tribes in Oklahoma, because of their status as sovereign nations, were allowed to continue to own slaves after the passage of the 13th Amendment. Or that cotton and the textile industry never accounted for more than 20% of US antebellum GDP, with over 90% of Southern cotton sold as exports, and that the majority of Northern manufacturing was in goods other than textiles, which were produced mainly from raw resources harvested in the free states, and then the majority of the goods were sold back to Northern citizens, with very little northern manufactured goods sold in the South and even fewer northern agricultural goods sold to the south, largely because the south was always cash poor (and getting poorer on average largely because slave owning was expensive in the decade before the Civil War, while slave owners could outcompete smaller, non slave owning farmers in the South).
Also, while the number of slaves did increase (largely due to population increase) the decades immediately preceding the Civil War, the percentage of slave owners decreased in those same decades. One of the biggest causes of the Civil War (and yes it was slavery) was the fact that Republicans and several Northern Democrats, opposed allowing anymore territories or states to be admitted as slave owning. The slave economy really requires constant expansion, and the antebellum free soil movement threatened to strangle slavery by opposing any further expansion of slavery (and as the Northern states population increase was so much greater than the souths, even when counting slaves, the House of Representative's had tilted in favor of the northern states a decade before the Civil War and the Senate as well, in 1861 there were 19 free states and 15 slave states). Also, despite the fugitive slave act's passage, the south found enforcement nearly impossible.
Depending on local legal institutions, indentured servitude in the colonies varied from just what it claimed to be, a job you were temporarily obligated to in return for considerations, to as close to slavery as made no difference.
That said, if your indenture ended on time, and you got the considerations, you were most certainly NOT a slave.
One of my great-something grandparents came here as an indentured servant. He was one of around 40 Scottish children, all likely kidnapped or forcibly transported under dodgy circumstances (a practice that spanned at least 50 years and which no history class ever covers).
Some of the kids ended up in horrible situations (at least one had their indenture extended for the crime of trying to kill themselves). My ancestor was fortunate as he was indentured to a couple different Quaker men, learnt a trade and how to read and write, and remained close enough to his former 'masters' that they were named in his will.
Hard-core ideologues on either side hate the fact that history, once you dig into it, is messy and doesn't lend itself to moral narratives.
One of mine was an indentured servant as well. He was from SE England and went to Connecticut (1640s). However, his story was a bit brighter. He served his 7 years and then married the boss's daughter.
Greater than 75% or more of European indentured servants are estimated to have died in their first year, which has been argued as to why (along with growing industrialization in England offering a more attractive alternative to the poor rural inhabitants of the British Isles) slavery became more attractive. Amerindians had also been enslaved, but they tended to have a mortality>90% (it should be noted the so called five civilized tribes were among the main slave brokers in the Amerindian slave trade in the British Colonies and Spanish Florida and French Louisiana). The mortality for Africans was around 60%. Also, a lot of the indentured servants tended to be Irish, Welsh, Scottish or Scots Irish (who could actually come from either side of the Scottish-English border, who had settle in the failed Ulster Plantation), groups that weren't exactly treated well in 17th and 18th century Great Britain (the Scots-Irish had a reputation as brigands and feuders left over largely from the high middle ages Scottish Marches).
Most of the Scots-Irish (e.g. the inhabitants of Appalachia) originally came as indentured servants. My maternal Grandpa's family are Dunns which the first Dunn was an indentured servant in Virginia in the 1720s. After earning their freedom, the former servants found that a lot of the good bottom land was no longer available and they therefore moved west, settling in what would become Tennessee, West Virginia, and Kentucky, as well as the mountain counties of Virginia, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas and Georgia. Also, it should be noted these areas tended to be the most pro-Union in the Confederacy, with many of the counties (especially East Tennessee) voting against secession.
Indentured servants were often treated much worse than slaves, because once their term of service was up, they had no value to their master. Slaves were a lifelong asset, so they were more valuable being able to produce labor their entire life.
Cannot figure out why nobody takes them seriously on any subject with even the most minute political take involved.
I love seeing them beg for money and enjoy laughing at the request.

For some reason I'm reminded of this:
Daffy soon reveals the fine print, according to which the $1 million will be paid only for a black eye incurred in the course of a stampede of wild elephants in his house between 3:55 and 4:00 pm on the Fourth of July during a hailstorm. Porky is momentarily chastened, but then a stampede of wild elephants comes through the living room. Daffy nervously looks at his watch, which reads 3:57 pm, and at the calendar, which reads July 4. Outside, hail is pouring down. Porky displays his black eye and demands to be paid, but Daffy refuses with the lie that the provision was in fact for a stampede of wild elephants and one baby zebra, whereupon a baby zebra follows the elephants through the room. Daffy proclaims "And one baby zebra!" and faints, realizing that he'll have to pay Porky no matter how he tries to change up the fine print to avoid it.
Aren't they the ones usually cautioning everyone else about opioids (and other drugs) disguised as candy on Halloween? Small wonder of their caution as they're the idiots doing it.
If only drugs were legalized, then she would’ve only imported and distributed the heroin disguised as wedding favors, chocolates, and makeup everything would be hunky dory.
Take 2:
If only drugs were legalized *and* The Jones Act had been repealed, then she would've only imported and distributed the heroin disguised as wedding favors, chocolates, and makeup *and* it would've been cheaper than if it had been shipped between two ports on American-made boats.
If it was legal, would it have to be disguised though?

Critical Consciousness Helps Marginalized Youth Turn Mental Distress Toward Social Action
Psychological distress motivates racialized youth to engage in social action, developing critical consciousness and self-esteem.
https://www.madinamerica.com/2023/03/critical-consciousness-helps-marginalized-youth-turn-mental-distress-toward-social-action/
“As adolescents develop an awareness of the historical, political, and structural forces contributing to inequitable conditions and outcomes (i.e., critical reflection), they shift their perspectives from solely attributing inequitable outcomes to personal shortcomings to also considering these outcomes as a result of structural oppression. Next, as youth gain awareness of structural inequalities, they gain an enhanced belief in their ability to affect change (i.e., critical agency) and begin to affect change in these oppressive systems through another component of critical consciousness. The final component of critical consciousness, critical action, refers to actions that youth engage in that affect change (e.g., voting, protesting).”

Also, note the implication that you have to be let into the "wizards' circle" so the gnostics/wizards can reveal their knowledge to you.
I would like to point out that in the English speaking Americas that slavery lasted just over two centuries, had surprisingly few slave revolts and those tended to be short lived and local, as opposed to other slave societies in history (for example Spartacus' revolt, the third servile revolt, note the fact that it's the third one of many, lasted two years and encompassed most of Roman Italy) and was ended not by slave revolt but by the actions of people of the same classes as the slave owners themselves. For reference, the deadliest slave revolt in the US was theNar Turner's, that lasted only a couple days, was very local, and killed less than 65 whites. Approximately 20,000 Romans were killed in the Third Servile War alone. So, either the British and their American descendants were more ruthless at suppressing slaves or something else. And for all of their faults, the British could not hold a candle to Romans when it comes to ruthlessness.
Additionally, for as bad as slavery and Jim Crow was, very few ex slaves and their descendants chose to immigrate back to Africa, even to the colony specifically founded for ex-slaves, Liberia (only about 15,000 from America and 3,000 from the Caribbean, and rather unsurprisingly, they tended to treat native Africans pretty badly, implementing a system of segregation that denied native Africans full citizenship until 1904, and denied them full political power until the government was overthrown in the 1980s).

If there is a hell, that woman belongs there.
I would like to point out that this kind of thinking is very similar to what was used to justify the sacking of cities after a siege I pre-modern warfare. It was honorable to resist a siege right up until a practical breach had been achieved, but if you persisted past that point, and forced your opponent to storm the breach, you forfeited the rights of your citizens from being protected by the rules of war. They could be raped, pillaged and even murdered with impunity in many cases. Because the danger of assaulting a breach was considered justification for any actions they took afterwards. One of the last examples was the Siege of Badajoz in 1811, which resulted in Wellington hanging several of his soldiers and uttering his infamous quote about his soldiers being common thieves and rapists. Compared to the 4200 casualties the British Army incurred storming the breaches at Badajoz, what kind of trauma did these eleven individuals endure? And note, Badajoz has long been considered a black mark against the British Army and Wellington's reputation.
The Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal consists of the organised child sexual abuse that occurred in the town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, Northern England from the late 1980s until present and the failure of local authorities to act on reports of the abuse throughout most of that period.[9] Researcher Angie Heal, who was hired by local officials and warned them about child exploitation occurring between 2002 and 2007, has since described it as the "biggest child protection scandal in UK history".[10] Evidence of the abuse was first noted in the early 1990s, when care home managers investigated reports that children in their care were being picked up by taxi drivers.[11] From at least 2001, multiple reports passed names of alleged perpetrators, several from one family, to the police and Rotherham Council. The first group conviction took place in 2010, when five British-Pakistani men were convicted of sexual offences against girls aged 12–16.[12] From January 2011 Andrew Norfolk of The Times pressed the issue, reporting in 2012 that the abuse in the town was widespread and that the police and council had known about it for over ten years.
The police had shown a lack of respect for the victims in the early 2000s, according to the report, deeming them "undesirables" unworthy of police protection.[167] The concerns of Jayne Senior, the former youth worker, were met with "indifference and scorn".[168][169] Because most of the perpetrators were of Pakistani heritage, several council staff described themselves as being nervous about identifying the ethnic origins of perpetrators for fear of being thought racist; others, the report noted, "remembered clear direction from their managers" not to make such identification.

Ohhhhh, so that makes the bullying ok. My bad.
The entire evidence from your article on him being bullied.
'He was hurting. He got tired. He got tired of the bullying. He got tired of the harassment,' Yesenia Roeder Hall, 17, said.
That's it. That was enough to cement your narrative. One person's comment. No examples, no statements from the school.
Then again, you identify as a victim, so it makes sense.
And before you claim that is the only evidence we have... it is not.

He was an abuser of SSRIs
That's a first.
What fucking narrative? I quoted an article. That's it. The only one pushing a narrative here is you, that the shooters are mentally ill and that's what made them snap. Being tortured by other kids couldn't have anything to do with it, because you identify with the torturers.
You blindly quoted the current corporate narrative of the story being about bullying instead of any intellectual curiosity of information that came out past the corporate narrative. Many people have already noted the narrative shift between yesterday and this morning. You happily parrot the narrative as you do on every topic.
I quoted an article, dumbass. I’m not going to wait for an article in some far-right hysterically anti-woke rag to quote from.
You keep saying that yet below i read many non quotes and sympathetic statements from you. Weird.
You kinda have to be mentally ill to decide to try and murder people. Even the language we use, "he snapped", indicates poor mental health at the time.
I don't identify with the bullies, as I was mercilessly bullied growing up. Did things like stay late hiding in the library to avoid confrontations. Sometimes I fought back in indirect ways--I recall bringing a can of soda for lunch, knowing that it would be stolen from me as soon as I took it out, so I shook the hell out of it before I went to lunch...took a beating for the explosion that resulted when the big fat bully predictably stole it. But at no time did I ever think about killing anyone, let alone shooting up the school.
It doesn't matter that they were bullied. Anyone that lived through Junior High and High School was almost certainly bullied, and yet the number of people who go on to shoot their class mates is so small that it just about doesn't exist statistically.
Find a new hill to die on, because the 'bullied for my sexuality' nonsense is a nonstarter unless the individual was much more mentally unstable than the average population.
Gee, maybe that's the point people have been making for literal years now. Somehow, the usual suspects on the left still don't notice that obvious and blatant fact.
Note: the bullying narrative wasn't even true in the case of Columbine, in which the media first ran with this myth. Far from being bullied the two shooters tended to be the bulliers from the evidence collected. Back when National Geographic actually did something approaching balanced reporting, they did a series on popular news stories and the actual evidence. I can't remember what it was called, but it did some outstanding reporting on Columbine, Oklahoma City, Waco, Rodney King etc.
Transgenderism has a very high correlation with other types of mental instability.
How does it correlate with being bullied?
These days? It’s like a magic force field. I’d suspect an extremely low likelihood of being bullied compared to the average student.
No, not true at all. Because adult bullies have children, and those children tend to become bullies.
Hmm... so your daughter keys cars because youre a degenerate.
Story checks out.
Bigotry is a family value that gets passed along from generation to generation.
Look at you using leftist defense of their favored victims.
Look at the defender of bullies.
Look at the leftist proclaiming there is no self agency, all bad acts are society and familial causes.
Youre defending a school shooter because corporate media gave you a narrative to do so. Fuck off.
You can even commit up to 2 rapes on schools without much push back if you claim gender fluidity.
Being a teenager has a high correlation with being bullied.
I for one am shocked sarc immediately pivoted to the corporate media narrative spin this morning that this story is about bullying. This is the narrative being pushed by MSNBC, CNN, etc despite no actual evidence he was bullied.
Of course this is the narrative they chosen due to the increase of school shooters with a specific characteristic... hmm...
Of course this is the narrative they chosen due to the increase of school shooters with a specific characteristic… hmm…
Are you saying those characteristics in no way contributed to their being bullied, or that it's ok to bully people with those characteristics?
Are you saying it's justifiable to shoot up a school because you might-maybe-perhaps have been bullied?
Nope. But I have trouble finding sympathy for bullies when someone snaps and kills them.
Wouldn’t it be nice if he was focused on his bullies instead of random sixth graders?
You’re creating a narrative that doesn’t exist. He shot the people he encountered, he didn’t get revenge. A 17 year murdered a 12 year old and you’re talking about revenging on bullies. Who is the bully here?
A 6th grader and the principle were 2 of 3 of the victims obviously both of them bullied the HS senior. Especially the 6th grader.
I never said he did. I simply quoted an article that said other students claimed that he was bullied. To be honest I was somewhat surprised at the overwhelming “He did it because he was trans, bullies couldn’t have anything to do with it and he was bullied he deserved it for being trans” attitude.
Other STUDENT. One person. That matched up with the preferred narrative. But I'm sure nobody else has a statement on the matter.
Take it up with the person who wrote the headline.
So you didn't read past the headline?
They quoted one student. Doesn't mean it's the only student who said anything. Could have been two dozen quotes but then pared down by the editor after writing the headline. You don't know, though you'll claim you do.
So post the evidence from your assertions for the narrative youre pushing. A lot of could in your defense. No pointing to the social media posts of the shooter that point to mental issues, SSRIs, and activism. Your one post from one student and could bes you add are all more responsive to the story. Lol. Youre a fucking joke man.

I never said he did. I simply quoted an article that said other students claimed that he was bullied.
Are you procedurally generated? This cannot be real.
Are you aware of this thing called "context."
Here, let me clue you in. When I said "Nope. But I have trouble finding sympathy for bullies when someone snaps and kills them." that was in response to "Are you saying it’s justifiable to shoot up a school because you might-maybe-perhaps have been bullied?" which looked to me like a hypothetical, not a reference to this specific shooting.
Adding context to words sarc doesn't understand.
You made an affirmative claim of your beliefs, then stated you never made a claim dummy.
Blink twice if ChatGPT is holding you hostage.
I thought you were smarter than Jesse (which is a really low bar). I was wrong.
Oh yes, Sarc, whenever someone catches you in hypocrisy, it's either "Tulpa did it!" or a direct comparison to Jesse and your opinion of him. Never a moment's reflection of what you did and what you wrote. Always someone else's fault.
I'm going to repost this from yesterday due to its never-ending relevance:
Dude, you’ve managed to piss off damn near everyone here (other than Jeffy and the Pedo – which, for some reason, you white knight). It’s a rather impressive feat, if you don’t mind my saying so. Even people who’ve given you the benefit of the doubt previously, you seem to go out of your way to piss off. You drag Trump and your blind hatred (and yes, dudette, it is hatred – go back and reread your screeds in the other thread today) of him into every article comment section even if Trump was never mentioned much less implied by the author. You pick fights with commenters for no seeming reason in the least other than the apparent joy of doing such. Back off for a bit, give yourself a moment of self-reflection (provided you are capable of doing so), stay away from the bottle, and think prior to posting. And stop thinking about Trump, and stop dragging your hatred of the man around in every goddamn thread.
One of the reasons I didn't respond to sarc for over a week was to see if he had the capability to realize I'm not the only one who notices his behaviors. Yesterday was a grand opportunity for him to make that realization as like 10 people called him out for his behaviors. He chose not to make that realization.
His self delusion trumped his inability for self realization.
Then I said "I never said he did. I simply quoted an article that said other students claimed that he was bullied." in response to "Wouldn’t it be nice if he was focused on his bullies instead of random sixth graders?"
First response to a hypothetical. Second to a false assertion about what I said about the specific article.
See the difference?
What studentS?
I saw one.
You're defending a tranny murdering people because you think they might have been bullied. No evidence, mind you.
Haha, sarc is so fucking stupid he doesn’t realize how blatantly he constantly contradicts himself.
Wouldn’t it be nice if he was focused on his bullies instead of random sixth graders?
Harris and Klebold notably didn't go after any of their supposed "bullies," either. They killed randos, including a small black kid who they deliberately went after because he was an easy target. And that's because the "bullying" narrative is completely bullshit in every respect.
And let's not forget the recent history of left-wingers doing mass shootings to pwn the conservatives--such as the guy who shot up the bank in Kentucky, the shitlib kid who went after students in Arapahoe High School in Colorado with a shotgun, or even Hodgkinson, who thankfully was a shitty shot and simply managed to paralyze a Congressman before he got domed.
It should also be noted that the pooner and the neon-haired drug addict who attacked the STEM school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado made the same "bullying" claims on their social media pages. The reality is probably that they were loud-mouthed, entitled weirdos who couldn't stand being criticized for their socially maladaptive behavior (and the pooner just happened to be the mixed-race kid of an illegal alien father who had threatened her mother, spent time in jail himself, and was eventually deported. Like father, like daughter)
This all goes back to Columbine, too. The media ran with the narrative that those kids got bullied and had no friends, but there was a group of like 8 of them that hung out together. Michael Moore actually built his career on narrative-building around this. But there were interviews with other kids at the high school who said, “No, actually, THOSE kids were bullies.”
There’s a need in the progressive mentality to view everything through a victim-oppressor framework, when sometimes there’s just bad people who do bad things because they want to, or just don’t care.
Yep, Columbine combined with the 24-hour news cycle as inspired an entire generation of social maladapts. It's not a coincidence at all that Butler posted the same KMFDM song "Stray Bullet" that was embedded on Harris's website.
Awe come on man, don’t let Flint off the hook!
Michael Moore probably got brain damage from drinking too much of the water out of the Flint River. The only documentary of his worth seeing is Roger and Me, and it's been a long, steep slide downhill since. He lies about as much as Jeffy (and probably weighs as much too).
Ahh, should have read down the thread, made the same point above about the bully narrative being false in Columbine. Also, note, despite it being false, it has been used for three decades now to justify the lefts rather destructive anti-bullying programs, that have often resulted not in punishing the bullies but in punishing the ones being bullied, when they finally stick up for themselves. My son had this occur, and the teachers even admitted they knew the other kid was the actual bully but they couldn't catch him, so when my son retaliated, I got called into the office, luckily it's a small town and the principal is pretty conservative (he and his wife actually went to college with my wife in Idaho and this occurred here where we live now in Northeast Montana) so nothing came of it and he told me he would have been just as happy to look the other way if he could have legally. The football coach did once at practice.
Also, I would note, after my son stood up for himself, this kid kinda became his friend, which also occurred with me when I stood up to my two bullies in junior high and highschool. Fuck, the one even nominated and campaigned for me for class officer our senior year.
Being a victim justifies a lot of behaviors of the left. Why they promote the victim hood narratives and the societal blame for their behaviors. No self responsibility, no agency.
One could argue shooting up a school is the ultimate form of bullying. But you do you.
Keep defending bullies.
Which ones? Name them. The 6th grader? What did that kid do?
I find it very telling you have more sympathy for an SSRI trans ally shooting up a school than you do for Rittenhouse or Babbitt.
Nobody, outside of you, is defending the murderer.
Oh..the murderer was not a bully in the whole KILLING OF OTHER PEOPLE.
Keep pushing the narratives sarc. Who cares zero evidence of bullying but one statement exists. You have your concrete proof that was the cause.
"Are you saying those characteristics in no way contributed to their being bullied, or that it’s ok to bully people with those characteristics?"
Do you have any ACTUAL evidence of bullying?
The media claimed the Columbine shooters were bullied --- which ended up being 100% false.
In which Sarc once again loses track of his bullshit and has to defend his comments that make no sense.
“But I have trouble finding sympathy for bullies when someone snaps and kills them.”
Yeah, the high-schooler being “bullied” kills a much younger student and the principal of the school… Yeah, sure pal.
Instead of admitting he doesn’t know the situation, sarc just doubles down.
Similar to how he once said that every president since Clinton has been impeached.
Now uses the pronouns was/were.
Gender-neutralized.
In other news, water is still wet.
Please. This has been the narrative since Columbine, when a bunch of limp-wrist journalists saw a potential story in how a couple of supposed "outcasts" were bullied into snapping and killing their classmates. It was clearly done as an indictment against the school's supposed jock culture that put dumb athletes over noble, long-suffering geeks (in other words, projection by the journoscum).
Except the narrative was bullshit. What came out in the investigation was that Eric Harris was a fucking sociopath, gave as much torment to other students as he supposedly got, and Dylan Klebold was simply a follower who wanted to be accepted and went along with everything. It didn't matter, though, because the "jock supremacy" framing the media wanted as set at that point.
It's the same fucking thing here. The shithead was a mentally ill troon who had already gotten in trouble for bringing knives to school, had openly threatened to kill people, and did time in juvie--and the irony is that the principal who ignored this behavior and let him back in school (probably because, being in Des Moines, he didn't want to go against the Rainbow Mafia) was the main one that Butler targeted.
At least Butler did the world a favor and 41%ed himself before he convinced any other confused kids to cut their junk off.
What's with people named Dylan and shooting up the place? I think one of the Columbine kids was a Dylan as well.
That's mostly just a coincidence since it's been such a common name for 21st century kids.
2019. Never forget.

Ghislaine Maxwell attended Vanity Fair party after killed Epstein exposé
https://nypost.com/2022/01/04/ghislaine-maxwell-attended-vanity-fair-party-after-killed-expose/
Ghislaine Maxwell yukked it up with celebrities at a Vanity Fair Oscar party — years after the magazine killed an exposé detailing her role in aiding pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s sex abuse of girls.
The 60-year-old madam was photographed in a glam, sparkly evening dress at the party in West Hollywood in March 2014.
Maxwell was shown grinning widely in a series of photos at the event, hugging one guest in a suit and posing beside the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, who later insisted she photobombed him.
The party was thrown by Vanity Fair’s then-editor-in-chief, Graydon Carter — who’d also been at the helm in 2002 when the mag refused to run an interview with Annie Farmer, one of the four accusers whose testimony led to Maxwell’s recent sex-trafficking conviction.
The magazine’s then-star journalist, Vicky Ward, last week revealed a transcript of Maxwell angrily demanding that VF nix the interview from a piece on Epstein. Ward noted how Epstein also “paid a visit to Graydon Carter at the Vanity Fair offices” before the article was spiked.
Months later, the magazine instead wrote a society profile titled “The Talented Mr. Epstein,” starting with glowing praise about the “charming,” “enigmatic” and “very generous” multimillionaire.

Teenagers as young as 14 could get voluntary assisted dying in Australia - after 23-year-old Lily Thai took her own life because of illness that left her in excruciating pain
Children as young as 14 could receive assisted suicide in ACT
The state is still building the framework for assisted dying legislation
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12244695/Teenagers-young-14-voluntary-assisted-dying-ACT.html
New legislation could allow for children as young as 14-years-old to receive voluntary assisted dying in the nation's capital.
A community consultation report is set to be released by the ACT government on Thursday with a final model for an assisted dying framework to be revealed later in the year.
The framework is being headed by the state's Human Rights Minister, Tara Cheyene, who is considering to allow children as young as 14-years-old to be eligible for VAD.
The ACT will also dismiss a requirement of an expected time of death between 6 to 12 months that other states have implemented.
The framework is being released after 23-year-old Lily Thai 'passed away peacefully' last Wednesday after using South Australia's assisted dying laws.

The federal Liberals aren't "wrestling" with it, they're bellowing out full throated demands for it.
Also recently, a new Liberal narrative that being a "right-winger" is a mental illness. Not hard to see the direction they're heading with all this. The Liberal Party apple doesn't fall far from the Democratic Party tree.
It's not a big leap from "being a right-winger is a mental illness" and "mental illness qualifies for MAiD" to "right-wingers should be subject to MAiD". We saw it in Nazi Germany; we saw it in the Soviet Union. A lot of other totalitarian and dictatorial regimes do likewise.

I guess these seditious Americans just want to be banned from voting.
That's been my question for a while now. If Trump was guilty of insurrection, then so too are roughly half the country for voting for him.
When, exactly, do those trials go forward?
This is a problem precisely because they've moved the goal posts for what counts as insurrection, and now no one is really sure who is an insurrectionist.
And of course by 'no one is sure' I mean the left is actually pretty sure it's everyone to their right but they haven't quite come out and said as much. They just want to make sure you can't vote for Trump.
One could plausibly claim that Trump was unfit for office the first time around, but the second time around we have evidence for what his governance looked like. It was...completely average by just about every metric.
If that's a threat to American democracy, then American democracy is already dead.

Come on, Liz. Hamas treating women as baby-making machines and human shields, while forcing them to cover up and stay inside, is nowhere as bad as a TV show about handmaids.
For what it's worth, Handmaid's Tale was a terrible show and movie...
and book.
The book was more timely, though. Written in the wake of the Iranian revolution as a mirror for what goes wrong with revolutions.
Idealistic kids thought they were fighting for freedom in ousting the Shah, but the power vacuum was filled with hard core authoritarians who restricted rights across the board. The ones who enjoyed the liberal society of 1970s Iran fucked up, hard.
Saying "But, it's a warning about Trump!" when the TV show came out was just the author riding a fucking bandwagon, and very ironic considering she supported the puritanical left that has been rapidly metastasizing in media and academia the last decade. The chick removed any hint of mystique or room for interpretations like "this is commentary on how power vacuums rarely get filled in a way you want" and turned it onto a girl-boss leftist screed.

He’s all I want and I can't wait for too long Jenny can’t you see? He’ll grow up too much for me
Just for Turd, "Stacy's Bro".
turd, the ass-clown of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
Don't have to be poor or white to notice the price of groceries has doubled in the last few years. Job numbers don't change that.
"yet the poor whites still complain about the price of their Cheesy-Poofs"
And meat and gasoline and furniture and cars and houses and...
They can certainly complain about the lack of honesty from turd; he can never find any. turd lies.
Yup, smoking hot if you land a sweet government job or enjoy making beds in a hotel. And make sure you update your report when the December job numbers get revised down, like what just happened for the October and November numbers.
BTW, note turd cites CNN, as if...
I saw this blurb on MSNBC and knew you wouldn't be able to resist posting it.
It will be revised down just like last months.
Migrants from Texas.

A plane carrying more migrants from Texas arrived in the Chicago area overnight, which
@ChicagosMayor
Brandon Johnson calls "a very dangerous task" by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and a matter of national security.
"Governor Abbott is determined to continue to sow seeds of chaos."
Mayor BJ is a disgrace and an assclown.
The rare example of a bad BJ.
Idk man, have you ever got your foreskin stuck in her braces before? freshman year was rough.
And from that point on his head a Sleestak.
He can always have Chicago admit it is NOT a sanctuary city...
Hell will probably freeze over first.
'"Are cities for tourists or residents?" asks Tyler Cowen."
Depends. Seriously. Resort town economies make most of their money from tourists. Guess who comes first.
If you don't like that, then don't live in a resort or "destination" town or city. And don't promote tourism, even as a "clean" industry (which it is not).
I like the Florida model.
The tourists pay taxes so we don't have to.
Every time a tourist cuts across three lanes of traffic to make the Disney exit, I just think "well, no filing state income taxes again this year".
OK, but Texas does that without tourists.
That'll change once enough progs move down there.
We have to secure our schools the same way we secure our airports.
Troon Idiots: We need to sexualize our children in schools!
Ron DeSantis: GFY.
The Market: [Riots. Sets fire to Bud Light, Disney, Disney+, Sony, Warner, Netflix, Miss Universe, Victoria's Secret...]
Nikki Haley: Let's compromise.
Vote Nikki, she only wants the State to cut off one of your daughter's breasts and one of your son's testicles.
Make that one of your son's breasts and one of your daughter's balls.
From the bitch's own website:
Nikki Haley courts Iowans with the ‘hard truths’ in first return since GOP debate
SEPTEMBER 23, 2023
...“Tell people the truth. You go and put this ban of 15 weeks, and what does it do? It has people running from us,” she said, her comments drawing some applause from the crowd. “What about if we got people running to us? Whatever we can do to get 60 Senate votes on, isn’t that better than what we have now?
“If it’s six weeks, that’s great. If it’s 15 weeks, that’s great. If it’s 20 weeks … it’s going further than what we want, but guess what? We’ll save more babies that way.”
As much as I don't agree with the "life begins at conception" crowd, I can at least respect the fact that they have a line that they won't cross. Haley's position always seems to be, "Just take whatever the Democrats will allow us to have."
No wonder the rank-and-file bitch-made center-right and their GOPe masters love her so much.
If they want to get 60 Senate seats all they need to do is get rid of McConnell. He's been sandbagging republicans since the tea party days.

‘Sympathy’ surging for Jan. 6 rioters, 43% agree ‘they had a point’
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/surging-sympathy-for-jan-6-rioters-43-agree-they-had-a-point
“Only 48% of voters overall said they thought the rioters were ‘criminals,’ a significant drop from the 70% of voters who thought so in a Suffolk survey conducted just weeks after the attacks. Those who agreed that ‘they went too far, but they had a point’ rose to 37% from 24%, and 6% called their actions ‘appropriate,’ when in 2021 just 2% did,” it added.
Jeff’s flailing isn’t working.
The worse Biden is, the more sympathy for the people who protested against it. Dems own fault. Tulsi Gabbard would probably be cruising to easy reelection, but she won't arrest Republicans or give Raytheon the wars they want so she's out.
They can find sympathy in the dictionary between shit and syphilis. Dumbasses.
Keep cheering the arrests of now over 800 non violent protestors. I mean it shows how principled you are after you freaked out about unmarked vans arresting people torching buildings during the BLM riots.
It is funny seeing how mad you are that people who don't rely on the CNN and State narratives regarding J6 are changing their minds as more information comes out. But not you. You demand loyalty to the narrative. Can never change your mind. Because then you'd have to agree with people you hate.
You never get tired of making shit up to argue against.
You cheerleaded almost every piece of dishonesty White Mike posted here. You own that.
Sure dood.

I’m saying that some people are so despicable that I’d rather disagree with them then have something in common with them.
Says the guy who would say the sky is grey if I said it was blue.
Speak for yourself, man. You seem to go way out of your way to pick a fight with damn near every commenter here not named SPB2, Jeffy, and White Mike.
Cite? Difficulty: stop projecting.
I guess sarcasmic would show up just prior to those two... what could that mean?
Rioters? What rioters?
By the measure of injuries, it was a mostly peaceful protest.
By the measure of property damage, it was a mostly peaceful protest.
a significant drop from the 70% of voters who thought so in a Suffolk survey conducted just weeks after the attacks.
Two things.
One, it makes me curious how biased the original survey was.
Two, when the media shilling dies down and facts emerge maybe people start to realize they were being fed a line of bullshit all along.
That and the Republicans releasing more videos, the revelation that the January 6th Select Committee destroyed evidence and the alternative medias coverage of the overcharging, and frankly unconstitutional treatment of those arrested, especially when they're using SWAT teams to take down Grandma's who were only inside for 20 minutes and didn't commit any violence. And the constant drumbeat of it being an insurrection, threat to democracy, worse than 9/11, firing on Ft Sumter, Pearl Harbor combined, after the riots they saw all summer before with much more damage and death and much fewer charges. Oh and the fact that for all the hype, none were armed at the actual incident (guns blocks away, locked in a car don't count) and the fact that Trump didn't use force to resist leaving office despite supposedly trying to conduct a coup and egg on an insurrection, makes fair minded people start to question the narrative.
Haley may be the only candidate running a worse campaign than DeSantis.
1) Civil War answer
2) Require Identification online
3) Refuse to call illegal immigrants criminals
4) Told NH voters they had to correct Iowa voters
5) Ties to defense industry
6) Said funding Ukraine is our moral duty
The only reason she is up at 15% is due to never trumpers and funding by uniparty hacks like the current Koch Industries.
"Fear not, now Haley is making waves with a bold new proposal"
"We have to deal with the cancer that is mental health."

Do you think Kamala stole her phone?
Lol. I called her kamala for her civil war answer. She is really terrible and ignorant.
Oh, great! Now all my references for "The C Word" and "The Big C" are all jumbled up! What a goddamned lesbian c-wor... FUCK!
"Haley may be the only candidate running a worse campaign than DeSantis."
Running a bad campaign is no disqualification from success. Look at President Biden. He didn't win on the strength of his campaigning. He won the nomination because he wasn't Bernie, and besides, it was his turn. Haley could win for the same reasons, not being Trump, deSantis etc.
"The only reason she is up at 15% is due to never trumpers and funding by uniparty hacks like the current Koch Industries."
Constant attention from the bourgeois press don't hurt either.
they offer the kind of endorsements that candidates are eager to collect.
Trump's own previous election proves endorsements don't matter.
If you're surprised that party people pick "safe" candidates, you must be new to politics.
Nothing about the new tranny shooter? Tranny terrorism is the biggest domestic threat in america today.

My god, imagine buying this line of bullshit and going ahead with paying 100K for your child's degree in "intersectional queer history of knitting".
paying 100K for your child’s degree
I have difficulty understanding this part. Everybody in my family that has gone to college has paid for it themselves… That’s why none of us have a degree from a humanities department.
>>"I had black friends growing up," she said in a CNN town hall last night
if this woman is to run the free world I demand more than one of these alleged friends step forward and confirm this statement.
I would've at least gone with, "I have black friends". Saying you had them growing up makes it seem like you thought better of it and ditched them.
"you look more like a D'Angelo and you look more like a Latasha so those are your new names." ~~Nikki
Shitavious Lemonjello and Hingle McCringleberry.
To be fair, we rarely remain lifelong friends with the people we palled around with in childhood. I stay in semi-regular touch with 3 people total, out of two circles of friends from two different high schools, much less the kids I went with to elementary or middle school. And that's maybe anywhere from 2-3 times a year, at best. We don't talk on the regular, it's mostly "hey, I'll be in the neighborhood, want to catch up?"
If she is willing to appear on CNN, she is not a republican.
.
You can say that again!
how the fuck is Claudine Gay ever going to grade a paper?
She has white people to do that.
Her job is to be a black lesbian.
She's married to a white dude, or maybe she thought she married a white butch but he don't look very butch.
He didn't look like a Bill either, so she changed his name to Michael.
Grades (and all objective performance standards) are white privilege, so Gay is exempt.
She is, however, available (for a fee) to grade your racist oppression score.
Harvard professors don't sully themselves by grading papers. That's what TAs are for.
who overlords the TA?

One has to erect the statue first.
Statutory rape

"Judge Susana Ortiz detained Berry at the request of prosecutors."
A rare Soros failure.
I know, normally, there are more important questions but I think in this specific case, the real important question is, "Did either of the weapons hold more than 15 rounds and are they registered?"
The only one we care about is the victim's firearm, because that's where we file charges.
Have any of you heard of Quora?
I asked this question on Quora.
https://www.quora.com/We-could-eliminate-the-carnage-of-drunk-driving-by-limiting-vehicles-to-5-mph-How-could-the-convenience-of-traveling-faster-than-5-mph-be-more-important-than-human-life-It-doesnt-make-sense
Hmm.. 5 mph or about 8 km/h. I drive about 70 km/day for work. At 8 km/h, not taking into account the fact that there’s still acceleration and deceleration time at each stop for work plus at stop signs and red lights, would mean I’d need a minimum of 9 hours per day just for driving. Add to that the roughly 4 1/4 hours for the individual drops, we’re now at a minimum of 13 1/4 hours per day.
People value convenience more than human life. It's sickening!
Well, convenience actually is worth more than a lot of lives I have witnessed.
It's racist and transphobic. I'm outraged.
Shit. White Mike has a new name.
Z Crazy, I would trade your life for a grain of sand. That is how little I think of you.
People who post questions like this on Quora make even sarcasmic appear sane and sober in comparison.
Wait, did you read that as not sarcasm? Seems to me like he is mocking the "if it saves one life" kind of thinking.
That's how I read it too.
Ditto. It doesn't seem serious and is more or less satire by my reading.
Of course, should the government get their way we won't even own cars. We'll all be in public transit. It would be hilarious if it wasn't true.
I believe Bjorn Lomberg originally posed this question, well over a decade ago.
"Z Crazy" - you should apply for President of Harvard; I hear the position has opened up.
We need Quora in Seattle.
babies are the size of an ear of corn around 24 weeks. They can hear sounds outside the mother's body, they have tastebuds, and they can suck their thumbs.
Well it's about fucking time pro-lifers start talking about some value that fetuses of that age might have in work houses. Not exactly sure how an ear of corn sucking its thumb is gonna be profitable. So get back to work and figure it out.
Too bad your mom did not make the right choice.
The coat hanger wasn't long enough, it only managed to scramble his brain.
imagine being outraged that someone values an unborn child far enough along to suck its thumb. absolutely demonic.
Imagine someone taking lessons in ethics from commenters here.
Well, your ethics certainly do leave a lot to be desired so in a way you're right.
There are plenty of people around here who actually studied ethics and morality, but you certainly aren't one of them.
That, or you lack any amount of self awareness.
There are plenty of people around here who actually studied ethics and morality
Hahahaha. I hope they got participation awards.
Whatever award they may have received is certainly more valuable than your disgusting utilitarianism.
Imagine taking lessons in ethics from a Jezebel column.
You do realize a lot of secularized European nations have abortion limits that are even more strict than that, right?
Extremely weird actually reading the entire Roundup before commenting.

You aren't going to pay your student loans with 'understanding power and fighting for equality' unless you went to law school.
Law school doesn't usually start with a degree in the humanities, either.
Law school doesn’t usually start with a degree in the humanities, either.
Actually, to be fair, a lot of law schools look for applicants who have a background in something other than Pre-Law. Not saying that all humanities are universally valuable, but it's not that weird to go from sociology, political science, or yes, even grievance studies, and turning that into a legal career. English and History majors can be quite useful in law school, as well.
It's just that it's not the humanities itself which is providing the ROI, it's whatever you choose to do with your law degree, if you get one.
That's true enough, although most lawyers I know either went political science or criminal justice. I can't say I know any that actually went pre-law.
Isn't Haley all in on funding for the Ukraine War and giving them "whatever they need"? Then there is that online registration thing for everyone in the US. Not voting for more of the same even tho my wife likes her
"Isn’t Haley all in on funding for the Ukraine War and giving them “whatever they need”?
It's worse. Her warmongering for Israel exceeds the case for Ukraine.
Letting people defend themselves against foreign invaders isn't warmongering.
Rewarding the invaders by letting them win is warmongering.
Haley's a war mongering politician who personally profits from her business dealings with weapons manufacturers. I still have trouble understanding Reason and the commenters enthusiasm for war and opposition to peace and negotiated settlements.
I don't see anything strange about employing statues of females in antiwar/pro Palestine protests. Probably half of the protestors are females. To use only statues of only males in the protests is a strange and disingenuous expectation to make of them.
As to the charges that Hamas engaged in a spree of raping, murdering and desecrating the bodies of Israeli women on Oct. 7th, this smacks of propaganda along the lines of dozens of Hamas beheaded babies, Hamas command posts under hospitals, Hamas employing civilian human shields, and so on. Is there any evidence that Hamas perpetrated these rapes? Is it any more persuasive that the other charges?
Yes, we all know Muslims in Palestine are all about empowering women.
Antiwar demonstrators and sculptors in New York are all about empowering women. Muslims in Palestine are keen on killing IDF soldiers and the tanks they rode in on. After 3 months, that should be clear.
Except Hamas did behead babies.
Who needs evidence? We have no less than Joe Biden's word on that one.
If you keep your head up your ass like trueman, you can ignore all evidence.
Fuck off and die, asshole.
Wolfe seems to be pitching to move up from the junior varsity (Reason) to president of Libertarians for Statist Womb Management or Libertarians for Big-Government Micromanagement of Ladyparts Clinics.
Watching this disaffected right-winger parade about in her garish, unconvincing libertarian drag is entertaining, though.
Speak for yourself, statist. You'll be replaced by your betters soon enough, Kirkland.
I want to say that someone is . . . confused, as to how martydom is supposed to work - *the other guy* kills you for your cause.
But, you know what? No, keep going. Its probably easier to blow up your own people and 'make them martyrs' than to try to get to the US to blow people up;)
Wall Street’s ‘Fearless Girl’ dressed up in pro-Palestinian garb by Hamas supporter
Kinda weird that they didn't use a headscarf, and beat the crap out of it first. Come to think of it, Fearless Girl is kind of uppity. Shouldn't she be honor killed, according to Islam?
Scenes from New York: The "Fearless Girl" statue, by Kristen Visbal, was put on Wall Street in 2017 to promote female empowerment and gender diversity in corporate leadership. It sure is an interesting target for pro-Palestine protesters as Hamas is not exactly known for advocating for the rights of women.
FYI, notice how the neck scarf is the most prominent feature of Palestinian cosplay. Again, I submit that the awful trend throughout the 2000s with progressive white women stacking a king-sized bedsheet's worth of scarf material on their necks was about solidarity with Islamists which cropped up after 9/11 and the rise of Al Jazeera in the western consciousness.
