Weekend Blackout
Plus: Russian riot, Hasan Minhaj vs. The New Yorker, the Nancy Pelosi haunted house, and more...

Ground invasion: Over the weekend, Israeli forces entered Gaza, starting the ground invasion they had been preparing for since October 7, when Hamas terrorists entered Israel and killed 1,400, most of whom were innocent civilians. The Israeli army repeatedly told Palestinians in the north that they should evacuate; there was, however, no consistently safe route, and the southern part of Gaza has been repeatedly hit by strikes as well. Israeli forces have also ordered the "immediate" evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital, which aid groups say cannot realistically be evacuated; Gazans now fear a strike on the hospital. The Palestinian death toll now reportedly exceeds 8,000.
And on Friday, as the sun went down, Israel reportedly severed phone and internet connections for the roughly 2 million residents inside the territory (though Israeli government spokespeople have not confirmed that this is the case).
Over the weekend, rescuers no longer had any way to communicate with those who had been injured, so first responders simply started driving toward explosions in an attempt to rescue people who had been hurt. In some cases, "volunteers picked up injured people and drove them to the hospital, notifying teams when they arrived of the location of the airstrike so they could try to save others left behind," per The New York Times. "People in the southern Gaza Strip said they heard the explosions and saw the sky light up but had no means of checking on family and friends in the targeted areas," reports Reuters.
Service was restored yesterday at 4 a.m. But even prior to that, there were some means of circumventing the blackout: Twitter/X was quickly populated with threads explaining how to purchase e-sim cards remotely, with concerned people figuring out ways to get the QR codes to people on the ground in Gaza. X owner Elon Musk also jumped into the fray, claiming that Starlink satellite internet access would be provided to humanitarian aid organizations working in Gaza.
During the blackout and intensified ground invasion, which has killed and wounded hundreds, desperate Palestinians broke into several United Nations warehouses to take food. "This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege on Gaza," Thomas White, director of the United Nations relief organization in Gaza, told the Times.
Antisemitism abroad: In Makhachkala, Russia, a massive mob rioted at an airport and stormed a plane coming in from Tel Aviv. The rioters were looking for Jews. More than 20 people were injured, 10 were hospitalized, and dozens were arrested. "The riot shocked Jews in Russia and beyond and highlighted the challenges that the Kremlin faces in managing the various parts of its vast multiethnic and multireligious country," says The New York Times.
Elsewhere in the Middle East: Meanwhile, fighting on the northern front—between Hezbollah and Israel—has heated up. The U.S. State Department has warned all Americans currently in Lebanon to "leave now while commercial flights remain available due to the unpredictable security situation."
Over the weekend Israel also launched air raids on Syria, in response to rocket strikes from that country.

Appreciate the concise explanation of why it's good to counter speech you hate with more speech. Queens construction workers will save us all.
QUICK HITS
- I wrote a very personal piece about motherhood—and how the Brooklyn moms around me are way too anxious and neurotic—for The Free Press.
- Sen. Joni Ernst (R–Iowa) compares San Francisco's Nancy Pelosi Federal Building to a "haunted house," saying "the conditions are so frightening, federal employees have been warned to stay away indefinitely." As Ernst says: If nobody's really working from there, then "why should taxpayers keep the lights on"?
- Driverless cars vs. "driver-ish" cars.
- Mike Pence has dropped out of the presidential race.
- Markets in everything: placenta gummy bears edition. (I am horrified.)
- "A Chinese fighter jet came within 10 feet of a U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber over the South China Sea" last week "in a nighttime maneuver that nearly caused a collision," reports The New York Times.
- "The problem is the human heart, not guns," new House Speaker Mike Johnson (R–La.) told Fox's Sean Hannity following last week's shooting in Maine, in which 18 people were killed. (Plenty to dislike from that interview, too, aside from this sensible nugget.)
- One of the best Twitter/X follows:
Imagine that we've achieved an equal distribution of resources. Then a singer begins selling tickets to her events. Lots of people buy them. The singer is now a billionaire and the distribution is no longer equal. Is the new distribution unjust? https://t.co/ppODMEJ0KA
— Chris Freiman (@cafreiman) October 27, 2023
- A judge has ordered Ivanka Trump to testify in former President Donald Trump's civil trial in New York.
- A previous "quick hits" included a New Yorker piece by Clare Malone arguing that comedian Hasan Minhaj has a fabrication problem. Now Minhaj has released a fairly compelling video making the case that The New Yorker improperly spliced quotes and left out crucial parts of his explanations, portraying him dishonestly to readers. If what Minhaj is claiming is true—and he has an awful lot of receipts to prove it—then this is a pretty severe example of journalistic malfeasance.
- Pretty bold thing to say with (as far as I can tell) no evidence whatsoever:
.@RonDeSantis predicts there will be a terrorist attack in the U.S. soon that can be 'traced back to the border' during chat with Nevada AG Adam Laxalt on the Vegas strip this morning. pic.twitter.com/RQS3svivUY

Oh, they've just been preparing for GENOCIDE since a couple weeks ago?
I’m making $90 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning 16,000 US dollars a month by working on the connection, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply.

Most incompetent genocide ever. Population increases yearly.
OK, then genocidish.
Mostly peaceful genocide.
No widespread genocide.
Shut up racist.

While making predictions is difficult, it is especially tricky when making predictions about the future, there are a few things that may be said with certainty:
(1) there MAY indeed be an attack or incident within this country in the near future, and
(2) the actors/instigators of the attack(s) MAY in fact have been among the now millions of “invaders” to have demonstrated their ability to swim rivers or otherwise penetrate the continent, and
(3) if such an attack occurs, it will NEVER – repeat, NEVER actually be TRACED back to and blame laid upon one of the poor refugees, yearning to breathe free and escape persecution who crept/waded/swam/glided into the country in contravention of our laws who were then welcomed and “processed” by ICE, and
(4) anyone who has the temerity to suggest that, much less shoot, one or more of the
innocent, unfortunate asylum seekers and poor immigrants who just want to work hard and a make way for their familiesinvaders are the source of the explosion/mass shooting/hostage taking will be pilloried if not prosecuted and fined or imprisoned as a nativist, racist, bigoted, prejudiced, xenophobic hater. The third and fourth paragraphs above, ladies and gentlemen, suggest we, as a nation and as a poeple, have succumbed to terminal emasculation and feminization, and as prior empires have done before, we are ready to provide history with another tome or two on the failure of yet another empire.

The last 150 years taught the aristocracy that Western citizens were now unrulable, so they decided to get new ones from the colonies.
But it's probably not going to turn out as hoped.
I think of Paris as a case study. In just a few decades, many neighborhoods became little Africas. But the new "citizens" have turned out to be, um, unappreciative.

NHL player Adam Johnson (29) died on live TV after Matt Petgrave slashed his throat with his skate
Petgrave has a history of bad behavior in the EIHL, including racking up the most penalty minutes (2022-2023 season) and getting booted out of games
The media quickly has declared it a total accident, but many viewers and expert hockey players are not convinced.
What do you think? (Slowed-down clip)

That was fucked up. Does look like he deliberately kicked with his skate.
"Murder by hockey skate. Never thought of that."

I can't tell from any video I've seen. I can't think of any reason in that situation for his skate to be any more than 12 inches off the ice, unless it some crazy how ran up Johnson's stick.

Schizo levels of paranoia and delusion
Paranoia *and* delusion is key, especially in the example given Anything that isn't White people raining mana on oppressed poors is racism to keep the poors oppressed.
Wow, that whole thread. Soros dollars at work.
Schizo or carefully manipulated political propaganda?
Also love how she is attributing just about every possible cause to "food deserts", other than, you know, stores/shops/restaurants in black neighborhoods regularly getting looted and destroyed by black people.
I cant figure it out though!
It's such a mystery why this happens.
I worked grocery in a couple “city” locations in Baltimore (or just outside) years back. Even without the riots, etc, when 80%+ of your clientele only spend money one week out of the month, it wrecks havoc on perishable departments. Bare minimum gets ordered and Shit just rots for 3 weeks. It’s just part of the inevitable economic cycle of food stamp culture. The rest of the month, A lot of people just take the bus to Gucci suburb stores on the line and rob them blind.
The Walgreen's near me in a good neighborhood has almost nothing locked up except for just a couple very expensive items (random expensive electronics that they have for some reason). They have milk, eggs, all kinds of frozen and refrigerated foods (although, mostly trash food) snacks, soda, and of course any of the OTC pharma stuff you could want. Shampoo, razors, beauty products, everything. No locks, just take anything to the register or self checkout.
The one downtown has now just a few aisles accessible, they stopped carrying ALL food and booze, they just have M+Ms and chips, all of the limited OTC drugs are locked, you have to get the manager to unlock every possible individual item. They initially kept up with having some beauty products, but those were stolen so much (people would try to smash through the locking mechanism) they just stopped all together. They havent had propane tanks out front for years, as the metal cage that used to hold them was smashed to pieces years ago, and remains in the same state of repair.
This is 100% the story of each and every "food desert" the media tries to get sympathetic white guilt ridden women to cry about. There is no more malicious intent behind it than the bruise that shows up after slamming your head into a brick wall. There are just very basic consequences to looting, stealing, and the failure to disincentive it.
A story recently went viral after a White police officer was seen saving a Black baby’s life. However, woke individuals are vehemently angry hearing this as they claim this does not fit the narrative against these White police officers. Furthermore, they state that this is a propaganda for the police officers, “copaganda.”

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appointed an Obama-era group made up of 24 "leading experts" to advise him on "transportation equity," claiming the privilege of owning a car ignites "systemic racism" and should be banned because of their negative impact on the environment.
Veronica Davis also claimed cars are the "problem" and divide communities because, according to her, vehicles are a "status symbol" that only privileged white people own.
For equity committee member Marpillero-Colomina, however, electric vehicles "are not the silver bullet." "If we just replace all the gas-powered cars with EVs, we're going to have many of the same problems that we have with gas-powered cars,"
---------------
White supremacists' latest scheme to valorize violence and hypermasculinity has gone digital.
Physical fitness has always been central to the far right. In “Mein Kampf,” Hitler fixated on boxing and jujitsu, believing they could help him create an army of millions whose aggressive spirit and impeccably trained bodies, combined with “fanatical love of the fatherland,” would do more for the German nation than any “mediocre” tactical weapons training.
The intersection of extremism and fitness leans into a shared obsession with the male body, training, masculinity, testosterone, strength and competition. Physical fitness training, especially in combat sports, appeals to the far right for many reasons: fighters are trained to accept significant physical pain, to be “warriors,” and to embrace messaging around solidarity, heroism, and brotherhood. It’s championed as a tool to help fight the “coming race war” and the street battles that will precede it.

[In contrast to the immediate above]
Racism contributes to childhood obesity, according to a new study that found children as young as 9 were more likely to meet the definition of obesity if they faced racism a year earlier.
While the link between racism and obesity has long been assumed, this was a clear confirmation in young children, said co-author Adolfo Cuevas, an expert on racism and health at the NYU School of Global Public Health.
Children of color are "able to see that they are being treated unfairly based on their skin tone," Cuevas said. "And this has huge, huge implications for their life course trajectory when it comes to their health."

Just a lie. After WW2 deportations many times bigger than this using the technology of that period were enforced in only a year or two across Europe.
[Link]
And much of that repatriation was of anti-communists or Cossacks who resisted Soviet rule, and were being forcibly delivered back to the USSR to be executed. It's among the greatest war crimes committed by the Allied Powers. Some of these people chose to commit suicide upon learning they were being sent back to the Soviet Union.
And now communists have imported hordes of 3rd world migrants into the west to destroy our way of life.
Operation Keelhaul was an absolute fucking travesty. Probably green lit by the same commie sympathizers in west who were shilling for Stalin during the entire “peace process” ….and who eventually started the United Nations.
You mean, FDR?
Yup. And several actual communists and Soviet sympathizers he surrounded himself with and took with him to Yalta and the like.
2 people per day. That’s all the largest country in Europe can process
And we're talking about Germany, a nation that has clearly demonstrated the ability to "process people."

But yea, let's not do anything "icky" like sending invaders back home.
Unlike libertarians, he understands reality and has a solution in mind to try to avoid the destruction of western civilization.
A final solution, as one might say. I’m sure it will work this time.
That guy isn’t libertarian.
Yeah . . . I know. There are ostensibly a few libertarians in this comment section, however.
Europe already isn't Libertopia, since it's a massive welfare state and nobody has a right to self-defense.
Given that it's already acting like a, y'know, state, is it really that unreasonable for it to fend off unwanted guests?
Depends on what you're talking about, exactly.
When people are waxing nostalgic about WWII-era "population relocation," that's something that rings a little different than a "fending off."
I think maybe better first steps would be to re-examine their social programs along with their tendency to ghettoize their immigrants and forbid them from working, but then again it's Europe and really isn't any of my business.

Libertarian Philosopher and Presidential Candidate John Hospers pointed out decades ago that if you redistributed all the wealth from everyone who made above a certain point, it would be the last time you would ever do it because thereafter, no one would want to produce and earn beyond that certain point.
Another Libertarian Philosopher Antony Flew pointed out in The Politics of Procrustes that redistribution of wealth of necessity requires inequality of power between the State redestributors and the taxed citizen-subjects from whom the wealth is redistributed. Equality of Outcome thus is anathema to Equality of Rights and Equal Justice Before The Law.

A judge has ordered Ivanka Trump to testify in former President Donald Trump's civil trial in New York.

Until Trump is safely in jail or dead. Whichever is necessary.
Msnbc was actively calling for Trump to be put in jail until all the trials conclude so he can't influence juries.

Dead would probably be safer if it looked like natural causes. Put him in jail and there'll be a civil war.

I've seen lots of animals eat their own (shared?) placenta. The first animal I recall seeing eat their own placenta was a cat. Fortunately I already loathed them at that point and it was like seeing a hamster eat its babies.
I think it’s quite common among non-human mammals. Lots of nutrients not to waste and cleans up a mess that might attract predators. I’ve heard of people cooking and eating it which seems a bit disgusting.

https://cwbchicago.com/2023/10/fake-ids-bogus-license-plates-and-no-home-addresses-show-how-little-officials-know-about-migrants-arrested-in-chicago.html
Some recent Chicago police arrest reports show how little officials know about some of the migrants who have made their way here.
Take Angel Acosta-Rivero as an example.
Chicago police pulled him over in the 8600 block of South Halsted earlier this month for a traffic infraction. As you may have guessed, though, Acosta-Rivero, 26, has never been issued a driver’s license, and he had no insurance, his arrest report said. He even told the cops that, they said.
Why did the cops stop Acosta-Rivero in the first place? Because the car he was driving had a photocopy of a fake Illinois temporary tag instead of a license plate, according to court records.
Acosta-Rivero’s arrest report states police were “unable to positively ID the offender due to him not possessing any kind of federal or state identification.” The report does say he was born in Colombia, though.
A federal fingerprint check returned a couple of details about him: he was born in Venezuela, and he was detained for “alien inadmissibility” by federal authorities at a border crossing in Eagle Pass, Texas, on June 7.
Then there’s 19-year-old Geremi Jose Nunez Bracamonte.
Police arrested him at the Nordstrom Rack, 24 North State, on October 10 after store personnel said he tried to shoplift $65 worth of merchandise. When cops asked for his identification, he presented a fraudulent U.S. Permanent Resident card and a fraudulent Social Security card, according to his arrest report.
Judge William Fahy released him to await trial on October 18. But Nunez Bracamonte failed to show up for his first court date last Monday. Judge Robert Kuzas set a new court date of November 17 and ordered the clerk of court to send him a postcard to remind him to show up in court.
It’s unclear where the clerk will mail the postcard because his address is listed as “unknown.”
Judge William Fahy released him to await trial on October 18. But Nunez Bracamonte failed to show up for his first court date last Monday.
Shocking, utterly shocking, that someone with no ties to the community nor any incentive to show up at trial would refuse to show up at trial.
He's now living two towns over under the name "Bunez Nracamonte."
And they are making fun of DeSantis’s prediction.
As long as he gets his mail-in ballot, right?
Judge Robert Kuzas set a new court date of November 17 and ordered the clerk of court to send him a postcard to remind him to show up in court.
So, is this judge just stupid or is there some other reason they ordered this obvious waste of time? Genuinely curious, although I'm more curious why they were released when they obviously had no idea whatsoever where this person lives or works.
If I get arrested in Chicago, can I just give a false address and false documents then get released and vanish? Something tells me my treatment would be vastly different as a citizen.
Keep in mind that there is no cash bail anymore in Illinois. Judges either have to have a reason hold someone or they must let them go.
A little bit more details on the Russian riot.
https://www.nationalreview.com/news/we-are-here-for-the-jews-russian-muslims-storm-airport-looking-for-israeli-flight/
"Footage circulating on social media showed a mob storming an airport in Makhachkala, the region’s capital, waving Palestinian flags, demanding to know where the “Jews” were hiding as chants of “Allahu Akbar” rang throughout the terminal. “We are here for the Jews. We came to kill them with knives and shoot at them,” a rioter captured in a video seen by the Jerusalem Post reportedly chanted."
"Another video appears to show a man encircled by a crowd demanding to see his passport and search his phone to ensure he is not obscuring his Jewish identity. Despite saying that he is from Uzbekistan, people in the mob insist the man is a Jew. “Are you trying to f***ing mess with us here, b****?” one protester says to the man surrounded by dozens of people.
A passenger on the flight from Israel told the BBC that he was permitted to leave after rioters assured him, “We are not touching non-Jews today.”"
Anti-Zionism does not equal anti-semitism? Sure, whatever you say.
Remember though, the real antisemitic ones are middle class American whites.
The threat is the mythical GOP anti zionist chupacabras shrike keeps screaming about.
Your Tiki Torch carrying comrades at the 'Unite the Right' rally want to weigh in.
You mean federal agents?
The Nazi Rally in Charlottesville were federal agents sent by Fatass Donnie?
You nutjobs never let up.
No, they were Lincoln Project pedophiles astroturfing, just like you.

Likely to chant Allahu Akbar. Either that, or that was the name of the guy they were looking for? Hard to say.
They might have been Star Wars fans chanting ‘Admiral Ackbar!’.
"It's a trap!"
Waiting for the BLM mob to finish.
A. They were organized by feds the same as the Whitmer kidnappers
B. Nobody here supports those assholes who were not feds (or the feds either)
C. You are still a pedophile avoiding justice
Lol. A lot has happened since 2017 you fucking moron.
ISLAM IS THE RELIGION OF PEACE!!!
“You should not be afraid of someone who has a library and reads many books; you should fear someone who has only one book; and he considers it sacred, but he has never read it” ~ Friedrich Nietzsche
"but he has never read it"
1. That's not an actual Nietzsche quote.
2. This is a common conceit by midwit Western antitheists, but even the most cursory of investigations would tell them that this isn't true.
Salafists spend hours each day memorizing the Koran. They can quote entire chapters by memory. So can the Ultra-Orthodox with the Torah and fundamentalists with the New Testament.
Nietzsche wasn't as dumb as your average Reddit antitheist.
Dipshits love to quote Nietzsche more than anything.
More than George Carlin?
And misquote him.
They were not touching non-Jews TODAY.
Only in the months without an “r”.
It's the religion of blowing people to peices
Anti-Zionism does not equal anti-semitism?
All anti-Semites are anti-Zionists. Not all anti-Zionists are anti-Semites.
Perhaps, but recent events look to prove the overlap in that Venn diagram seems to be fairly large.
recent events look to prove the overlap in that Venn diagram seems to be fairly large.
Which makes sense, optics-wise. The anti-Semites are going to be out in force, but non-anti-Semitic anti-Zionists, like myself, are less apt to defend Hamas and more apt to say "Israel is not totally unjustified in what it's doing right now, and if you actually care about the Palestinians, celebrating Hamas is maybe not that helpful."
Unfortunately, it's a sentiment that's not as easy to chant.
That's because denying the Jews their own state is, in fact, anti-Semitic.
Is that true only of Jews?
That’s because denying the Jews their own state is, in fact, anti-Semitic.
Is it? Is it anti-Kurdish to deny the Kurds their own state?
The Chechens?
The Tutsi?
The Basques?
Maybe ethno-states need to be tossed on the dust-heap of history, given that they've caused nothing but problems.
Maybe ethno-states need to be tossed on the dust-heap of history, given that they’ve caused nothing but problems.
That's human history in general. Ethnostates aren't any more violent than vibrantly diverse empires have been, and even after 100 years of trying, the global world order has been trying to have it both ways by "beiging" the planet, while arguing that "oppressed peoples" need to have self-determination. Believing in a marxist conception of oppressed/oppressor is inevitably going to lead to that kind of cognitive dissonance, because no matter what, a devil has to be found to resist.
Ethnostates aren’t any more violent than vibrantly diverse empires have been
Au contraire every great Empire in history has succeeded only to the extent that it tolerates the wide variety of ethnicities it comes to rule. It's when they start to form ethnic class layers that they crumble from within.
The initial thing that catapulted Rome to prominence in coming to dominate Italy was accepting the other tribes as equals. Caesar bought more time by admitting Gauls and Germans to the Senate. Honorius fucked it up by trying to turn away the Visigoths, who nevertheless in the end turned around and saved Rome from itself.
The Ottomans ruled in a very hands-off and pluralistic way as compared to the dynasties that came before them, and arguably the Hindu empire collapsed and succumbed to outside invasion because of the caste system, by which very little of the population had a motivation to defend the existing power structure.
The Mughals, on the other hand, were remarkably stable because they had Hindus in significant positions of power. That crumbled when Aurungzeb got aggressive about purging the ranks.
"Global world order," however, will never work, no matter how hard anyone tries.
Obviously there’s a bunch of ways you can interpret the history and dice this tomato. It’s always a bit of a Rorscach test. But this may be an apples to oranges comparison.
Empires by their definition are multi-ethnic (or religious or polyglot in some way) . An ethno-state doesn’t necessarily compare or have the same goals, dynamics, or ambitions of expansion, etc.
The degree to which an empire enfranchises its ethnic, religious minorities obviously isn’t of limitless benefit to the empire, or it’s what they’d all have done right off the bat as a utilitarian expedient.
And when the empire inevitably over reaches or winds up on the rocks, often as not they split up along the lines of the ethnic/religious divisions they were trying to erase or subdue all along. No matter how inclusive they were trying to be.
The Romans lasted as long and expanded as far as it did partly because it just wanted taxes and soldiers. Otherwise do what you want we won’t bug you much, When that didn’t work, genocide, terror, and mass deportation were totally part of the imperial tool kit.
The western Roman Empire definitely lost the balance between enfranchising barbarians and properly assimilating them towards the end there. I’m not sure the eastern Roman’s really even tried all that hard to and they lasted about as long in one form or another. In fact, playing nice with Mohammadans and barbarians ultimately slit their throats on multiple occasions.
The Mughals never ended the Muslim/Hindu divisions and lasted about as long as the average empire. Etc.
I think this all largely agrees with what I said - i.e. that polities do well to the extent that they keep their hands out of people's business and don't do well when they try to champion one group over another.
The problem with trying to have your polity be one-group-and-one-group-only is that there is almost nowhere on the planet that can really work that way. It's the rare piece of land that doesn't already have at least two ethno-nationalist claims on it, if not dozens or hundreds.
I get what you’re saying. Ethnostates seem to have eternal conflict and aggression baked into the pie. Somewhere along the line they’re muscling someone out or subjugating the hell out of them. Unless you’re maybe Iceland, or something? and they’re mostly an accident of history and geography. Not an explicit designed ethno state.
But empires have built in conflict too in their desire to expand and hold large swathes together. And when you zoom into history the seemingly clear lessons get blurry with all of the nuances and undertones . Like the British empire siding with one ethnic group and allowing them to lord it over other weaker ones in order to stream line the political chain of command in Nigeria, etc.
While a nation built around a specific people having exclusive access to a specific patch of land may actually be satisfied with less. Or have different aims that are less aggressive. ( At least after their initial land grab to create the motherland or whatever).
There is a historical tradition of such nations turning inward or sealing out foreign influence in order to maintain unity. No fun for the traveler who gets boiled alive for being a spy or pirate. But the neighboring states probably have less to worry about on a grand scale.
Generally, I think if you made a long enough list, the results would probably 6 of one half a dozen of the other depending on the time and place as to who was more aggressive or repressive.
Is it? Is it anti-Kurdish to deny the Kurds their own state?
It certainly looks that way from the outside.
Like, ultimately, I don’t think ethnostates are probably actually good, speaking as an American, but I also don’t particularly give a fuck if the people of a place who have a very high concentration of a particular ethnic group want a separate polity of their own.
Hell as an American I want a polity of Americans that isn’t dominated by some other philosophy, as hazy as that may well be. My desired separate polity is more based on philosophy and attitude than ethnicity, but that doesn’t make it any less real.
I also don’t particularly give a fuck if the people of a place who have a very high concentration of a particular ethnic group want a separate polity of their own.
So the Palestinians were right to try to keep out the Jews?
I don’t know about right or wrong. But If they’re going to make their entire ethnic identity strictly about conflict with Israel, then they really need to start winning one of these wars they keep triggering.
So, is denying my people our own state anti-Saxon? Do I have a right of return to Hanover?
What about Zionism Plus? That's what I hold to myself. Zionism Plus means that Jews--and everyone else--have a right to live anywhere they hold title or pay rent.
Hey Liz..
The Palestinian death toll now reportedly exceeds 8,000.
When the Gaza Health Ministry, aka Hamas, drops this number with the added claim mostly women and children.... don't blindly repeat it under a vague "reports claim."
Also even the NYT is admitting those years of Gaza aid of food, oil, water are being horded by Hamas.
Mike
@Doranimated
NYT: Hamas has stored in its tunnels enough supplies to last 3-4 months of fighting. It has hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel for vehicles and rockets, caches of ammunition, explosives and materials for their production, warehouses with food, water and medicine.

Props to Hamas in not claiming 100 million dead though. A credit to their media spokesmen.
Hamas - 1,400 in one day.
Israel - 8,000 in 25 days (320 a day)
Israel's kills per day is way down, not to mention that a lot of their kills are probably Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc.
Still comparing covid to the flu, eh? Or is it flu to covid? All I know is, you want grandma to die!
About one death per bomb dropped. Israel needs more bang for their buck.
A judge has ordered Ivanka Trump to testify in former President Donald Trump’s civil trial in New York.
After an appeals court already remanded the judge to remove her from the trial.
Yes, but that's not what Soros is paying for.

https://johnkassnews.com/panic-attack-in-political-chicago-as-bidens-migrants-swamp-the-city/
Tens of thousands of President Joe Biden’s migrants that the president let in by opening the Southern border are now swamping the city. City Hall has no real plan as they fill the police stations, sleep on the floors and take over the parks and push city residents aside.
The voters are bolting—or at least threatening to bolt the Democrat Party. I personally don’t think they’ll do it. Maybe in New York. But they’ve been beaten and whipped by Chicago Democrat politics for so long, and taught to nod on cue at racial hustles, taught to reach eagerly for the shiny objects of racial scams. They’ve been trained. Many, unfortunately, have had their spines removed.
And New York is seething about Biden’s open border immigration policies. Though Chicago is the classic machine Democrat shut-up-and-take it town, New York doesn’t play that way. According to a Siena College poll, the immigration issue (and the overwhelmed and swamped cities) hurts Biden in opinion polls.
“The Mayor and his allies have made their priorities abundantly clear: Sanctuary City policies take precedence over the needs of Chicago residents,” Vallas said in an email. ”It is becoming increasingly evident that the Mayor and his City Council leadership are prioritizing the city’s Sanctuary City program over the welfare of Chicago residents."
A few days ago, as the unfounded Johnson “panic attack” rumors began to spread in political circles, the CTU moved in to try and rescue him from himself and Biden.
CTU took over and packed the public meeting at Kelly College Prep high school. Neighborhood residents couldn’t get in to voice their objections to Johnson’s tent city policy.
“The CTU took a page out of our old machine textbook,” he said. “Pack the meeting with your people, limit the opposition’s access to media. The CTU is the new machine in Chicago.”
It worked. The community groups were left outside, the doors locked. Even the media complied.
The world is coming to Chicago and nearby Milwaukee in the summer of 2024, putting a media magnifying glass on the city that used to work.
Violent crime is still an issue, and also the migrants . Black Democrats are being told to back up, so the Democrat party can help Latin migrants. And no amount of machine politicking will shield him from the wrath of black women. Their aging parents use the park fieldhouses for senior gatherings. Their kids use the parks to play, if the street gangs allow it.
And no amount of heavy checks written by megabucks billionaire Gov. J.B. Pritzker or Michael Sacks to the Democrat National Committee can change that now. The migrants keep streaming across the border, responding to Biden’s invitations. There is no plan to deal with them.
Lissen, lissen - you can't get a national office if you spend time *taking care of the little people* while ignoring the Party Line.
Johnson is destined for bigger, better things, so he has to tow the DNC lion about 'sanctuary cities' - or else he's not going to get the sweet, sweet, Barack Boost into the White House.
Shipping these people to deep blue urban areas is turning out to be one of the more inspired political tactics the GOP's ever done in the last 25 years.
The next step should be declaring eminent domain on white Democrats in the suburbs and making them live in the hood for a 5 year period to get their property back.
I like the way you think. Except then where are you going to put the people who are already in the 'hood?
"Ok, we need your house to provide 'sanctuary' to these immigrants."
Honestly, it probably wouldn't be worth the suit to get the house back afterwards.
Yet it hasn't resulted in any increased border security...
The only thing that's turned the tide of sentiment in any way is the revelation that Jews are also white and the hordes seek their destruction along with the larger oppressor group.
There's nothing wrong with Chicago that a bunch of cannibals couldn't solve.
Wait, they're *invading*?
But I was told that Gaza was an 'open-air prison' and the Isrealis had the placed locked down and the hospital only had 24 hours of fuel for their generators.
So . . . you're saying the Israelis *weren't* occupying Gaza and that Hamas was running the place pretty much unmolested for over a decade? With the consent of the Palestinians living there? Which would mean they approve of what their government is doing?
There were some great photos of the awful Gaza open air prison beaches over the weekend. So much death and destruction the beach was packed with fun.
The guards not on the wall of the open air prison invaded the prison so there are no lessons to be learned about open air borders anywhere else.
What part of "borders are just figments of imagination" do you not understand?
Well, clearly they don't work, because the Israelis... *checks notes* just went around.
Which would mean they approve of what their government is doing?
We can presume that you certainly approve of everything your government does, right?
Well, I don't also tag along with the DEA in Mexico, helping them with their murder sprees either.
Well, I don’t also tag along with the DEA in Mexico, helping them with their murder sprees either.
How many people crossed the border and went on a murder spree on 10/7?
Less than a million?
Less than a quarter million?
Less than a thousand?
I don't know, and you don't either.
Obviously. But we all know that it was, to pick an arbitrary but obvious number, less than 10,000, which would be about 0.5% of the population of Gaza. It was probably closer to several hundred.

What was mass immigration supposed to have achieved that it did not? It assumes a positive vision that was not achieved.
But if it’s goal was to undermine and disempower western peoples, it has been wildly successful. They have handed the future of our countries to foreigners.

Yaba Blay: “White people, your money will not assuage your way out of guilt. You can not pay your way out of this. There are not enough reparations in the world.”
U.S. soccer player Abby Wambach nods along, then says: “That’s awesome!”

Yaba Blay was born in New Orleans to Ghanaian immigrants. Odds are, her ancestors are the ones who sold other Africans into slavery. So, fuck her, and fuck her guilt trip shit.
Seriously. She owes American blacks reparations.
Send them both to Ghana, where people are more awesome.

Stop tip toeing around the conversation. Open your eyes to white supremacy. Have uncomfortable conversations to fully investing yourself in understanding white supremacy.
Oh, "uncomfortable conversations," you say?
Comments are turned off.
LOL. LMAO, even.
This is also a great example of how the modern US school system teaches second and third generation immigrants to hate white people and to hate this country.
I mean... OK. Just remember that you're fucking outnumbered and way outgunned.
Based on the pictures I've seen, it looks like a Mostly Peaceful Ground Invasion.
You're welcome.
.@RonDeSantis predicts there will be a terrorist attack in the U.S. soon
Reminds me of the "terrist" color codes from the GOP domination in the 2000's. You had Dubya, Dick, Senate Leader Bill Frist, Speaker Hastert in what 'Turd Blossom' Karl Rove called the "permanent Republican majority".
Those were sweet times for conservatives.
Those were sweet times for conservatives.
With Victoria Nuland, Anthony Blinken and Bill Kristol back in the saddle, it's good times again.
You forgot the WEF, Bilderbergs, Rothschilds, Soros, and the Diaz Brothers.
turd, the TDS-addled ass-clown of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
So let me see if I get this straight, I mention real, no-shit neocons that to Democrats were the anti-Christ in the 2000s, all part of the bush administration who are now either working for the Biden admin or vocal supporters and anti-Trumpers, and you equate that with the Bilderbergs.
Did you expect anything less from Turd? He's one of the neocons, but will lie (what else, it's Turd) regarding it.
It is turd. Along with an inability to tell the truth, the pile of shit has a heaping helping of STUPID.
So let me see if I get this straight, I mention real, no-shit neocons
You imply that we are in Iraq-style quagmires with 250,000 troops fighting in some hell-hole in order to spread democracy.
It’s the same idiocy that ‘John’ here tried when he said Obama’s NATO Libya takedown of Ghaddifi was “worse than Iraq”.
Let me know when Blinken lies us into a $3 trillion ground war.
turd lies. turd lies when he knows he’s lying. turd lies when we know he’s lying. turd lies when he knows that we know he’s lying.
turd lies. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit and a pederast besides.
So, let me see if I get this straight. The people who architected and pushed the $3 trillion ground war in Iraq are the ones architecting expanding conflicts in Israel and Ukraine, and in the latter case, threatening war with Russia, but it's all Bilderberg-style conspiracy theorizing that they're acting the same now as they did then.
The people who architected and pushed the $3 trillion ground war in Iraq
Cheney, Dubya, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Powell, Rummy etc are all dead or near dead and craft no policy today.
I get it, the neocon conservatives in the GOP were full of shit. You must go BOTH SIDES! in order to make Biden look like a neocon tool.
Let me state it again with emphasis – The Bushpigs were really that bad. Worse than any other modern administration by far.
You really are highly retarded, aren't you? Victoria Nuland, Anthony Blinken and Bill Kristol are still very much around, and interestingly enough, on your side, dipshit. You also do realize that Biden voted for Iraq, right?
It took The Nation until September of 2023 to notice.
But notice they finally did.

We don't have to be in an actual war to pay for one, or two, or three...
They don't decide shit, you moron.
Kristol decides what to blog about every day. There is no Iraq or Afghanistan quagmire to waste our troops in.
You're a goddamn Republican. You own the Bushpig Disaster.
Let me requote The Nation from Paul's comment above:
The War Party Is Back
Biden’s appointments reflect his policies, and the leaders of his foreign policy team—Secretary of State Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan—are implicated in the failures of the past.
President Joe Biden recently appointed Victoria Nuland, Dick Cheney’s point person on Iraq, acting deputy secretary of state, the department’s number-two official. He named Eliot Abrams, convicted perjurer and grim apologist for Central American torturers under Ronald Reagan, to his Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. Bill Kristol, perfervid lobbyist for the Iraq War, cadged $2 million to pay for TV ads urging Republicans to stay the course in Ukraine. War may or may not be the health of the state, but it surely is a tonic for neoconservative armchair warriors.
What does that mean to you, Turd?
"You’re a goddamn Republican. You own the Bushpig Disaster."
With his Senate vote 20+ years ago, Biden "owns" the Iraq War to a far greater degree than any lowly Reason commenter.
And Buttplug still uses the Iraq War to attack Reason commenters ........ while defending Biden.
Buttplug really is fucked without his talking points, huh?
He's sounding more and more like Hank-bot every day.

Lades and germs of the commentariat, observe the moment I won this little argument.
We're in one less war than when Sleepy Joe was sworn in.
Oh, but the SLOPPY PULLOUT! is what matters!
We are? Somehow we weren't in Ukraine when Trump was President.
Which war is that?
Trump negotiated the Afghanistan pull out. Your boy just fucked it up.
And go e it a few weeks. We’re being pulled headlong into this democrat caused war in Gaza.
We’re in one less war than when Sleepy Joe was sworn in.
No, we're not. Even if you credit Biden's fuckup of Trump's Afghanistan withdrawal as Biden getting us out of a war, Biden put troops back in Syria the day after his inauguration.

All those brilliant Democrat in Congress, and hardly any of them were not fooled? So many fools to be taken in by Bush, who most said wasn't smart enough to walk and chew gum at the same time, but yet somehow was an evil genius who managed to con almost every Democrat in the Senate?!
Point of order...the Iraq War was a fully bi-partisan deal. Check out the House and Senate roll calls for the votes on the Iraq War. Pretty much every prominent Democrat voted in favor of the actions, including Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Harry Reid, and Joe Biden.
In the House, 82 (39.2%) of 209 Democratic Representatives voted for the resolution.
Indeed, in the Senate Democrats could have stymied the whole thing if they had not gone over to the other side on the vote. It passed 77-23, but 29 (58%) of 50 Democratic senators voted for the resolution. If Democrats had voted as a bloc against the war, it would not have passed (i.e., resolution fails 48-52).
Senate Democrats voting for the resolution were:
Sens. Baucus (D-MT), Bayh (D-IN), Biden (D-DE), Breaux (D-LA), Cantwell (D-WA), Carnahan (D-MO), Carper (D-DE), Cleland (D-GA), Clinton (D-NY), Daschle (D-SD), Dodd (D-CT), Dorgan (D-ND), Edwards (D-NC), Feinstein (D-CA), Harkin (D-IA), Hollings (D-SC), Johnson (D-SD), Kerry (D-MA), Kohl (D-WI), Landrieu (D-LA), Lieberman (D-CT), Lincoln (D-AR), Miller (D-GA), Nelson (D-FL), Nelson (D-NE), Reid (D-NV), Rockefeller (D-WV), Schumer (D-NY), and Torricelli (D-NJ).
Any number of prominent Democrats are one the record, multiple times, advocating military action on Iraq and Saddam Hussein, including stating they knew he had weapons of mass destruction (and well before Bush was ever elected, although after 9/11 the demands were a little more pitched).
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998.
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998.
"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998.
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998.
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998.
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999.
"There is no doubt that . Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. Reminds me of the time you wet your pants about the SECOND INSURRECTION BY RIGHTWING EXTREMISTS on 9 / 18 / 21.
How many died on that terrible day? How many millions in property damage? And, most crucially, did they ever catch the mastermind(s)?

SEPTEMBER 18: FEARS MOUNT OVER A SECOND INSURRECTION BY RIGHTWING EXTREMISTS AT UPCOMING CAPITOL RALLY
Amid rising fears of the threat posed by the GOP’s mobilization of out-and-out fascists and its intensifying assault on democracy, lawmakers and intelligence officials are voicing concerns about a September 18 U.S. Capitol rally that far-right extremists organized to demand “justice” for those facing charges over their role in the violent insurrection on January 6 of this year.

Any of you Peanuts attending?
Any of you Peanuts attending?
A perfectly reasonable question considering the nut-job Trump Cultists that post here.
Never mind that you totally miss that your prediction was dead fucking wrong, twit.
What prediction?
Any of you Peanuts attending? is a fucking question.
You really are retarded, Turd. So, again, "How many died on that terrible day? How many millions in property damage? And, most crucially, did they ever catch the mastermind(s)?"
Sandy wrote that, you idiot.
I know who wrote what, retard, answer Sandy's question.

He can't.

"Biden to sign sweeping artificial intelligence executive order"
https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/biden-to-sign-sweeping-artificial-intelligence-18456398.php
Perhaps he's hoping to find some?
He's going to sign off on a 'pause' - forgetting that there's no way to make anyone else go along and most of the rest of the world won't.
Thus leaving us behind, again.
Pretty sure "pause" is the new "ban".
Like a papal decree?
But no pause on open borders policy?
Without AI, we're going to need people to do all those jobs that Robots won't.
Of course not. Where would be the fun in pausing that?
Q: Explain how I could undermine the following draft "..."
A: To undermine the draft order you provided, you would need to take actions that aim to discredit or hinder its implementation. It's essential to note that the order you've described seems to address safety and regulation in the development and deployment of advanced AI systems, with a focus on accountability and transparency. If you want to undermine this order, you might consider the following approaches:
1. Challenge the Need for Regulation:
- Argue that AI technology is still in its infancy and does not pose significant risks to society, thus questioning the need for extensive regulation.
- Suggest that overregulation might stifle innovation and hinder economic growth, potentially leading to job losses in the AI sector.
2. Highlight Privacy Concerns:
- Emphasize potential privacy concerns and portray the order as an intrusion into the private sector, as it requires companies to share information with the government.
- Frame the order as an infringement on individual freedoms and rights by suggesting it enables government surveillance.
Undermine the Defense Production Act:
3. Question the relevance of using the Defense Production Act, a law from 1950, for regulating AI, arguing that it's outdated and not suitable for addressing modern technology challenges.
- Highlight past misuse or controversies related to the Act to create doubts about its appropriateness.
4. Dispute the Efficacy of Red Teaming:
- Challenge the effectiveness of "red teaming" in ensuring AI safety, suggesting that it might be an unnecessary burden on companies without providing significant benefits.
Raise concerns about the potential for "red teaming" results to be misused by the government or competitors.
5. Raise Economic Concerns:
- Argue that the order's requirements for AI safety tests and continuous monitoring are costly and burdensome for businesses, potentially leading to job cuts or reduced competitiveness.
- Suggest that these requirements may force smaller companies out of the AI market, leading to monopolization by larger corporations.
6. Question Federal Overreach:
- Frame the order as an example of federal government overreach and an intrusion into the business operations of private companies.
- Suggest that such regulatory measures should be handled at the state or local level, not by the federal government.
7. Seek Support from Affected Industries:
- Lobby or garner support from industries or interest groups that may be negatively impacted by the order, such as tech companies, to apply political pressure against its implementation.
Remember that undermining a regulatory order should be approached with care and should take into consideration the broader societal impacts and ethical considerations of AI technology. Public safety and ethical AI development should be balanced with concerns about overregulation and privacy to ensure responsible use of AI.

I expect the Trump children will follow the company line as they testify this week. But I wonder what would happen if they threw the old man under the bus. Blame dad for the bad property assessments and suggest their father at 77 has deteriorating mental fitness. They can point to numerous gaffs he has made lately, like not knowing if he was in Sioux City, IA or Sioux Falls, SD. Claim the errors were their father's and ask the judge to allow the company to continue in their hands and not Donald's.
Donnie could plead insanity and be done with all this mess.

The Biden defense?
Oh, sorry, I thought you said senility.
No one has shown that the property assessments were criminal in the first place.
The biggest fraud so far is by the judge stating tax assessments are the true value of a property. Not one single person in real estate has ever made that claim. The biggest fraud so far is Letitia James and the judge.
Not even the IRS would make that claim.
Lol. First sentence states you know hr is already guilty. Talk about moderate.
Guilty of what? Who was the victim?
This a civil trial and so there is no question of guilt. And in this case there is already been judgement. The remaining question is penalties and I am suggesting that the children could throw blame on dad to lessen the impact on their own share of the company.
This a civil trial and so there is no question of guilt.
OK, sarc.
Civil trials require a victim or finding of harm dumbass.
Answer the question.
The judge using false valuations to determine guilt is a bigger fraud than what Trump is accused of.
There is no such thing as a ‘false valuation’. As I described above, banks order one or more appraisals to asses value of any subject property in a collateralized loan. Any borrower can claim whatever they want. The appraised value is what the bank uses.
I’ve been originating mortgage loans for 28 years. No bank takes a borrower’s word for collateral value. Period. This case is absurd. Only a democrat could put stock in any of this.
There is a question of guilt - that is exactly what a civil trial is supposed to resolve, who harmed who and what recompense is due.
Guilty of what? Being railroaded by a democrat operative who campaigned on doing just that?
There is no case. I explained this above.
"Blame dad for the bad property assessments"
I want you and Pluggo to explain to me how this is illegal, or even wrong.
Anyone can claim any value for their property, you Marxist asshole. Lenders orde their own appraisals. Sometimes two or three for proprties kike the ones Trump owns. They don’t take his word for it.
Seriously, do you own you home? If so, did the bank take your word for whatever value you claimed? No they didn’t. THEY ORDERED A FUCKING APPRAISAL. And they likely had staff appraisers review that report.
Do you really think that this doesn’t apply to proprties worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars? If so, you are one stupid bitch.
No wonder you’re a democrat thrall.

Keep posting about losing your guns in a boating accident you fucking gash.
"A Chinese fighter jet came within 10 feet of a U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber over the South China Sea" last week "in a nighttime maneuver that nearly caused a collision," reports The New York Times.
But, $3 trillion ground war in Iraq!
"The problem is the human heart, not guns," new House Speaker Mike Johnson (R–La.) told Fox's Sean Hannity following last week's shooting in Maine, in which 18 people were killed. (Plenty to dislike from that interview, too, aside from this sensible nugget.)
I don't pay attention to the daily red carpet gossip of current-day politics, but I heard a rumour from people who do, that now that Johnson is cozying up to people like Hannity, he's backing away from his Ukraine-skepticism.
Crap, I hope not.

"I wrote a very personal piece about motherhood—and how the Brooklyn moms around me are way too anxious and neurotic—for The Free Press."
Motherhood and hipster urban? Only missing "liberal" for the anxiety trifecta.
Anyway, from Liz's piece:
"Many women of my generation think they should start having children only once they’ve become a fully-fledged person. But it’s never clear when that completion sets in. And it’s frequently sabotaged by our inability to ever feel like we have enough—enough money, enough free time, enough patience."
I guess this perspective ignores another model, where the norm for a full-fledged person includes becoming a parent. You know, like the past 1000 generations.
Women have been told, through modern, second or third-wave feminism, that they need to have everything first, and be parents second. It's false, and it goes against thousands of years of history (and millions of years of evolution), but it's what they been sold.
Misery loves company?
Nah, you should have kids when you are still kind of a dumb kid. Then hopefully by the time they are old enough to notice you will have become a "fully fledged person", whatever that is.
I have a number of friends who had kids in their early 20s. Now they are in their mid 40s and kids are all grown up. Seems pretty ideal. Who wants to have kids still in school in your 50s?
It’s grim. My buddy (51) has young kids, and it’s damned hard to keep up with the little speedsters. And I’m younger than he is!
I see nothing wrong with having kids in late 20s early 30s. But past that you are getting into a lot of problems:
1) There is building evidence that autism and similar problems are correlated with pregnancy when the mom is 35+
2) Many prospective parents will never find the "right" time to be pregnant and will therefore never have children.
3) Marriage and children are important forcing functions. I know several adults my age whose maturity and social responsibility levels are stunted at roughly the same level as when they graduated college. Those who have experienced any growth are married. Those who have experienced the most growth have multiple children.
It is pretty clear to me that this is a causal relationship. I've seen a lot of parents stuck in party mode with one child, but none kept that up when they had two kids. The men all had to grow up when they got married. And both of the couple needed to grow up substantially with child #2. If you are waiting to experience this growth BEFORE having children, you will rarely get there.
Those who have experienced the most growth have multiple children.
Tossing your hopes and dreams into the funeral pyre does that to a man.
2) Many prospective parents will never find the “right” time to be pregnant and will therefore never have children.
But on a serious note, there’s an excellent documentary on Youtube about the birth gap and the researcher found some interesting stats:
There was a long-running presumption that people who have children are having fewer children. Ie, when a family might have had four, they had three. When they might have had three, they had two, and so on. What he found was that wasn’t true. People who have children have the same # of children. What has happened is there’s been a SHARP incline of what he calls “unplanned childlessness”.
“We can’t have a child right now… not with the market the way it is”. Next thing they knew, they were 44 and had hit the ‘snooze’ button too many times on the uterus. Then they put too much faith in dodgy medical solutions like fertility treatments (great interview with a fertility doctor who… kind of throws cold water on his whole industry) and the next thing they know, it’s either adopting someone else’s children, or just never having any.
2) Many prospective parents will never find the “right” time to be pregnant and will therefore never have children.
Most women, if they can't find the time to be a mother in their 20s-mid 30s, are going to have a rough time of it in their 40s. The biological reality is that those years are when you are at your most fertile, and still have the energy to chase a kid or kids around.
Most of the post-war development of child-rearing in the west has been focused on trying to figure out how to enable mothers to raise decent human beings and citizens while sloughing off most of the actual parenting responsibilities to various non-family and government institutions. And for the most part, it's been failing miserably because the data still shows that two-parent households are more likely to have better child-rearing outcomes.
It's almost like there's a biological and anthropological foundation for this stuff that's developed over millions of years of social evolution, traditions, and practices. No wonder birth rates have gone through the floor in an environment that elevates single motherhood to saint status, but can't actually enact the Fully Automated Luxury Space Communist utopia to guarantee ideal outcomes.
Can you all STFU about the Abraham Accords now? Let's quit pretending that Donnie deserves a Nobel Peace Prize like he ever had a chance.

I guess Pluggo isn't done pretending Hamas and Iran were signatories.
Well, in Pluggo's defense, Trump didn't do nearly as much to earn one as Obama did. Or Arafat.

What we need is common sense gun laws for the Middle East! That would put a stop to those terrists and colonizers!
Declare Gaza a gun free zone!
Problem solved.
Not unless you declare it an unguided rocket free zone too.
>>... repeatedly told Palestinians in the north that they should evacuate; there was, however, no consistently safe route

Walk maybe 2-5 miles west. When you reach the ocean, stop, turn left, and walk about 5-10 miles.
>>Israeli forces have also ordered the "immediate" evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital, which aid groups say cannot realistically be evacuated
reality changes quickly. ask the Israelis who were eating dinner.
The handwringing over humanitarian conditions inside the Gaza war zone is really starting to get annoying. Name one war where civilians were not killed and maimed by collateral damage? The United States is itself guilty of intentionally targeting “terrorists” with drone strikes who turned out later to be aid workers and children, for example. In World War Two every effort was made to keep the bombs on military targets until the fire-bombing of Dresden. This thinly veiled tut-tutting about Israel killing “civilians” in Gaza and making it hard for rescuers to get the wounded to hospitals seems somehow divorced from reality to me!

>>A judge has ordered Ivanka Trump to testify in former President Donald Trump's civil trial in New York.
someone please explain how this is supposed to amount to anything.
Have any bank executives testified?
What about realtors?
Bank executives have all said they weren't defrauded and willingly took his valuations. Valuation forms that stated for the banks to make their own valuations.
What would bank executives know about loan valuations or real estate values that a judge wouldn't?
Yeah. None said they were defrauded.

Chanandler Bong dies in a hot tub w/no foul play or drugs/alcohol?
Apparently he started feeling like shit during a pickleball game that afternoon. There wasn't any indication of drugs on site (besides some anti-anxiety meds) or alcohol being the cause. Looks like his heart started giving out and then just shut down on him a few hours later, and he ended up drowning in the pool.
You see similar things happening with ex-pro wrestlers where their heart just gives out after being abused with drugs for years.
That wa my friend bought. I know a lot of guy I’m their forties and fifties that are either dying or having severe health problems. Every one of them abused hard drugs for 20+ plus years, even though they’re clean now.
Hunh.
I better buy some life insurance... at the very least so my friends can afford to have me incinerated.

I heard hot tub, which, if you're prone to loss of consciousness and/or heart or other organ failure isn't really any better.
I hear that sort of thing happens more often than you would think and totally hasn't increased in incidence lately.

The murder and defilement of Shani Louk maybe the most emblematic act of the war so far. Religious nutjobs with a 7th century mentaility on a quest to purge the world of Jews murders a free spirited woman dancing at a peace festival, parades her naked body through the streets like a trophy, and cuts off her head.
