Brickbat: Wait a Little Bit Longer

A production of Waiting for Godot at the University of Groningen, a public university in the Netherlands, has been canceled after university officials found out only men had been auditioned for the cast. All of the characters in the play are men. A university spokesperson acknowledged that author Samuel Beckett said the play should be performed only by men, a rule still enforced by Beckett's estate. But the spokesperson added that "times have changed. And that the idea that only men are suitable for this role is outdated and even discriminatory." The student group presenting the play said it is considering offers it has had from other venues in the city to stage the play.

Perhaps if the male actors could claim to actually be women...
Maybe hire some out of work farmers, I hear that's gonna be a thing there soon.
I still can't believe they insisted that The Woman King simply had to be played by a black woman and got away with it.
Yes. There was not a lot of diversity in the cast of that movie, either.
Would the university have been ok had “born with penis” men performed in The Vagina Monologues ?
I think they would have loved it actually & probably. "TRANS WOMEN CAN HAVE CONCEPTUAL VAGINAS TOO"
Depends. If the “born with penis” men identified as women, everything up to an including the scene where a 24 yr. old woman inebriates and then has sex with a 14 yrs. old girl would be OK.
If they don’t identify as women, it would be a laundry list of charges extending from statutory rape, providing alcohol to a minor, promotion of statutory rape, etc. all the way down to, apparently, being male in a play.
Most of those are supposed to apply to women too, but maybe they get away with it somehow?
Even on these quieter moments, Brickbat's invigorated feel is palpable--and contagious. It would've been easy for the members of Piroshka to rest on their laurels, but they prove they have a lot of new ideas to offer their listeners, regardless of how familiar they may be with the band's previous work. watch all this shows and movies on cinema hd
This is just weird. Does reason not have a staff to go through and knock out spam comments? Not that hard.
And if they HAD auditioned "others", and cast men, then what?
Even worse.
But what color was their skin?
I’m paid $185 per hour to complete the task using an Apple laptop. I absolutely didn’t think it was conceivable, but my dependable buddy convinced me to give this straightforward an03 chance a go after she made $26,547 in just 4 weeks working on it. Visit the following page to find out additional

"But the spokesperson added that "times have changed. And that the idea that only men are suitable for this role is outdated and even discriminatory."
This type of begging the question logical fallacy is so utterly common with this type of woke authority. It is a wonder that they think it is a killer argument.
Yep.
"Times have changed. The idea that logic can be applied is outdated and even discriminatory.”
"Times have changed".
Well, they're not wrong about that.
Full disclosure: I once performed in Waiting For Godot in high school. I then moved on to The Odd Couple in college. My acting career fell be the wayside after that.
So why not engage in the time honored tradition of actors portraying different genders? Would be anathema to Wokism, but just think of the possibilities. That used to be the case when there were only male actors. Now we balance the scale by having only female actors who have to all assume male roles during a performance of Lysistrata.
Or just put on a parallel production of A Lesson From Aloes, or other two female plays.
Or, don't put on plays that are restricted to men?
In the revised Groningen production, Vladimir and Estragon spend two hours speculating about Godot's choice of pronouns
