Robin Niceta, a former child protection case worker in a Arapahoe County, Colorado, is facing a felony charge of retaliation against an elected official and a misdemeanor charge of making a false report of child abuse as a mandatory reporter. Police said Niceta anonymously reported that Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky sexually abused her own son. They said Niceta made the call after Jurinsky called for the firing of the Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson, who was Niceta's girlfriend at the time. Meanwhile, a class-action suit filed by more than 40 people claims that Niceta tried to remove children from the homes of women in cases she was working after they rejected her sexual advances.

Nope. If we were talking about an actor or comedian or private real estate developer or something, sure. But no one is owed the job of social worker and if you're going to do the job you should be the type of person that they can't find 40 people willing to file a lawsuit against you because you're so nice and helpful and/or you don't really discuss what you did to your kids in public. Otherwise, give the taxpayers back their money and GTFO.

There is cause for some suspicion that the accusers didn't come forward before this hit the press. However, the very plausible counter-argument is that they didn't feel safe accusing someone who had already threatened them with the power of government to destroy lives until their abuser no longer had that power.

In other words, don't automatically credit the accuser but don't automatically discredit them either. Give the courts time to figure it out.

And, again, this isn't/wasn't some Harvey Weinstein situation where "I got a starring role if I let him go down on me." (s)he said/she said. This was straight up predatory behavior under the color of law. Even if 39 of them are flat out lying, she should lose her job over the 40th. If it were a man, there would be no question. One plausible allegation of "Sleep with me or I'll have the state take your kids." would be all it takes.
