Brickbat: That's Not Cricket

In India, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned that those who celebrate Pakistan's win over India in a recent T20 World Cup cricket match could be charged with sedition. Police in Uttar Pradesh have already arrested five people, including three college students, for celebrating the win. India's sedition law bars "words either spoken or written, or by signs or visible representation" that attempt to cause "hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection" toward the government.

In regard to Pakistan’s win, Indian officials are hoping they hear nothing but crickets.
You just wait till Der TrumpfenFuhrer "wins" in 2024, by making up The Big Lie V 2.0! The USA's sedition law will bar "words either spoken or written, or by signs or visible representation" that attempt to cause "hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection" toward The Government Almighty, AKA, The Trumptatorshit. Thou Shalt have NO Government Almighty, other than The Trumptatorshit, for Thy Trumptatorshit is a Jealous Government Almighty!
He’s a real Sqrlsy Man,
Sitting in his squirrely Land,
Spewing out his squirrely plans,
To no one
Doesn’t see that he’s ignored
His squirrly rants just leave all bored
Recycled whining is adored
By no one.
Sqrlsy Man, Please Listen
Go into the kitchen,
Sqrlsy man, the oven is right there at hand
Stick your head, in deeply
Hit the gas, not meekly
Sqrlsy Man just let it take you away
He’s a real Sqrlsy Man
Cooling in his squirrely land
Whining all his squirrely plans
To no one.
So Ass's Broth:
You, too, want people to drink the Kool-Aid? Just in gas form, not liquid? It doesn't make much difference! You know whose lines you are spouting when you advocate that ass-gas, right?
Ass's Broth, drinking ass-gas Kool-Aid in a spiraling vortex of darkness, cannot or will not see the Light… It’s a VERY sad song! Kinda like this…
He’s a real Kool-Aid Man,
Sitting in his Kool-Aid Land,
Playing with his Kool-Aid Gland,
Has no thoughts that help the people,
He wants to turn them all to sheeple!
On the sheeple, his Master would feast,
Master? A disaster! Just the nastiest Beast!
Kool-Aid man, please listen,
You don’t know, what you’re missin’,
Kool-Aid man, better thoughts are at hand,
The Beast, to LEAVE, you must COMMAND!

Hey Ass's Broth …
If EVERYONE who makes you look bad, by being smarter and better-looking than you, killed themselves, per your wishes, then there would be NO ONE left!
Who would feed you? Who’s tits would you suck at, to make a living? WHO would change your perpetually-smelly DIAPERS?!!?
You’d better come up with a better plan, Stan!
You resent the hell out of the fact that many other people are flat-out, better, more honest people than you are, right? More “live and let live”, and WAAAY less authoritarian?
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/in-love-and-war/201706/why-some-people-resent-do-gooders
From the conclusion to the above…
These findings suggest that we don’t need to downplay personal triumphs to avoid negative social consequences, as long as we make it clear that we don’t look down on others as a result.
SQRLSY back here now… So, I do NOT want you to feel BAD about YOU being an authoritarian asshole, and me NOT being one! PLEASE feel GOOD about you being an authoritarian asshole! You do NOT need to push me (or other REAL lovers of personal liberty) down, so that you can feel better about being an asshole! EVERYONE ADORES you for being that authoritarian asshole that you are, because, well, because you are YOU! FEEL that self-esteem, now!
India's sedition law bars "words either spoken or written, or by signs or visible representation" that attempt to cause "hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection" toward the government.
That's censorship folks. You Republican bitches who bitch and moan and whine and cry about the Democrat media and all that should thank your lucky stars you live in the US of A. Y'all would be in prison for your bleats of "Fuck Joe Biden" and such if you were in another country.
What's your point? Soft tyranny is still tyranny.
Just because your house doesn't look like the Hoarders TV show, you still need to clean up. Even if you can't star on My 600 Pound Life, you may still need to lose weight.
Just because we haven't fallen to the extremes, yet, we may still need to take action.
After all, no one starts out at the worst of the worst.
Democrats are taking notes.
But which teams do the Democrats demand we support?
Theirs
sarcasmic hardest hit.
"India's sedition law bars 'words either spoken or written, or by signs or visible representation' that attempt to cause 'hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection' toward the government" must have Democratic Socialists salivating.
Just think what they could do with such power. No more niggling diatribes to content with, and you could just be told what to think, believe, say, and do without interference. It would be as though the NYT was your only source of news.
Not sure what is the brickbat. The people voted for their representatives who made this law.
The law is dumb in the first place, but this is even an overreach of that law. The law prohibits disaffection towards the government. These people are celebrating a cricket match.
The government is what the government says it is. Think of it as newspeak.
I think the takeaway is, India is kinda a shithole, from a rule-of-law standpoint.
The scary part is it’s still pretty much an exemplar of rule of law compared to other countries in that region.
If you can't take the heat then don't compete!
vamos Pakistan!
Hello, I must say I'm Impressed with your blog! check my this out helful blog! bags for woman
Can we get a law like that for fans of the Cowboys who don't live in Texas? {NY Giants fan}
JK, of course, but just bare ly.
>>NY Giants fan
now we know you're lying.
This makes me think about how much alike in certain aspects of national culture India and America are. Indians, like Americans, are good at individualism. Compare a walk through the vibrant streets of an Indian city to the drab sameness of a Chinese city. If India loses a sporting event, there will be some who celebrate it, if only to display their individuality. Same in America with girls soccer in the olympics.
The other thing similar is the fondness for the legal, adversarial approach to solving disagreements. I guess this is down to sharing roots in British common law.
