Brickbat: The Moral of the Story

In Canada, the Waterloo Region District School Board has begun a review of every book in every library in its school system to identify and remove all books it feels are "harmful to staff and students." "We recognize as our consciousness around equity, oppression work and anti-racist work has grown, we recognize some of the texts in some of the collections that we have are not appropriate at this point," said Graham Shantz, coordinating superintendent in human resources and equity services. Officials say the process will take several years.

I propose a new Canadian-US treaty that would ensure that anyone using the term “equity” be arrested, imprisoned and executed.
Stock brokers, investment advisers, and financial journalists bonds hardest hit.
Though you might be safe if you stick to bond trading exclusively.

Meanwhile, here in the People's Republic of NJ, there is a slim possibility that we have voted out that incompetent son of a bitch Phailing Phil Murphy (a progressive idiot).
They stole Bergen county.
You know who else got rid of books deemed to be dangerous?
Every goddamned pearl-clutching, pants-wetting school board this side of Nuremberg?
The irony is that groups like the American Library Association, who used to do things like celebrate “banned books week, are full of the kinds of lefties that now want to sanitize their collections.
We just celebrated banned books week. A proggie friend wanted to show as an example of how far we've come. He had to resort to calling cancel culture a myth, because he refused to see that his tribe was hell bent on censoring ideas.
The problem here is they've changed the meaning from 'celebrating intellectual freedom's to 'look how many books we got banned!'
Well, some people were celebrating the book; some were celebrating the banning.
Dr. Seuss haters?
Mob accountants?
Mao?
Who knew that our new authoritarians would end up being book burners.
Anyone with a brain?
Ray Bradbury?
It was a pleasure to burn.

So banning books is okay, except when they're books expressing viewpoints progressives like. Got it.
Fahrenheit 451; another Users Manual instead of a foretelling.

Today I am going to tell you about a website from which you can earn 200 to 250 dollars per hour. In which no account and no registration is required. No need to work or copy and paste. Now you can earn money without working for 24 hours. And nobody know this method yet, for this you have to visit this website..>>> http://www.webwork8.com

Harmful to staff? Those must be the heavy hardbounds that get thrown at them or fall off high shelves onto them.
CRC Handbook hardest hit.
I can't say that, in the era of search engines, if you called forcing someone to learn to use the CRC, hardbound encyclopedias, or card catalogs 'harmful' I would entirely disagree.
And I say that as someone who actually used the CRC in the '00s when Pubchem first came out.
Come on, don't you remember the trouble when Hagrid assigned the Monster Book of Monsters?
Or is that on the banned book list too?
I remember as a kid, a wee tyke, that book banning was still a thing in our country. Some stuff because it had the F word, Huckleberry Finn because it had the N word. Nothing outright political, that fight was fought before my time. But occasionally it would rear its ugly head. I recall parents shitting their pants over a book that promoted Black Power.
Now we have "enlightened" Canada. Set to go about banning books again. Not because of N words or F words or opposition to the Vietnam war or anything like that. But because books have thoughts the hyper-progressive don't want people to think about.
This is such a huge step backward in our progress towards liberty I am saddened. This is the country the proggies want us to be more like. Free healthcare being more important to them than free people. And it's not just the proggies. Plenty of signalling from the right that they want to control certain speech too, just different speech.
Contrary to Matt and Nick, I think we are not heading towards a libertarian moment, I think we had a peak quarter century from 1990 to 2015, and we're not on sliding down to the abyss again. We already have 70s style stagflation breathing down our necks. Cops treating citizens as the enemy. People more interested in tribal signalling than in doing what's right. We're doomed. The idea of people being free is an idea that is past.
And you helped.
This is the country you've worked so hard to create.
I hate Canadians. I am glad we have a border that keeps them up there.
"Officials say the process will take several years."
First book on the list: Nineteen Eighty-Four.
Because they want to protect their trade secrets?
See, the is why I am confused. Remove gay pornography from the school library and it's "a modern day book burning" but it's *imperative* Huckleberry Finn be cast out?
