Brickbat: Don't Let That Training Go to Waste

Responding to a call that a woman was attempting to drive a golf cart the wrong way onto State Route 167, a Washington State Patrol trooper rushed to the scene and used his car to block her. Just kidding. He used a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver and knocked the cart over, causing the woman minor injuries.

Where's the fun in resolving a situation without violence? He's a cop after all.
Yeah, this isn’t a brickbat.
It’s a job well done in resolving a possible suicide attempt without death.
Seriously? You think knocking the cart over was appropriate to stop her from killing herself, if she was even trying to? So he caused a traffic accident and an injury, where otherwise there may have been neither? And there'd be no other way to keep her from entering the highway?
There was no alternative.
Pull in front of her and stop suddenly? She was going slow enough that she could go around.
Drive alongside and beat her with a night stick until she stops? Don’t be dumb.
Shoot at the wheels? Shrapnel could kill the woman.
The only practical and fairly safe maneuver was to forcibly removing the golf cart from its path.

Hello
I believe that the police should be more careful with such violators. Perhaps because of such hard work, they should get more rest. According to the latest research, playing poker can help relieve stress in people who work in areas such as police or medicine.
I’ll give you a week, but I’m betting you’ll turn out to be a spam bot.
Yep. There's a link to a poker site imbedded in his name. Time to mute.
Why not flag the comment?
Reason has had a largely hands-off policy with comments since the Great Woodchipper Incident.
They don’t verify names on user accounts or check that emails match registrations. They don’t remove flagged comments. And they apparently don’t care anymore to moderate unflagged comments.
And, none of the authors get down and dirty by commenting anymore, except in the Volokh Conspiracy.
It’s a free-for-all. So the best choice is to mute bots and jerks.
What about donuts and BJs?
They love any excuse to drive recklessly.
(Cops, not women, you misogynist.)
"Why not both?"
Was the cop an Asian woman?
At least the cop didn’t knock her into a water hazard. Is a rogue golf cart needing an intercept considered a bogey?

If your driver is male. Otherwise, birdie.
I hope the woman was not so injured she couldn't perform the necessary sex acts.
We need Paul Harvey for the rest of the story.
That "golf cart" looks like a maintenance vehicle, it is not the usual
'play golf type' of cart.
The woman was "in distress"; an interesting term that could mean anything, but she wasn't just out for a joy ride.
Following the Reason style guide, a lot is missing here, starting with a basic web search for pertinent details.

The officer should be charged to the fullest extent of the law for the most heinous of crimes; stealing an EV driver's smug sense of superiority.
