Biden: You Will Get a Booster Shot When the CDC Says So
If the government is going to approve them for everyone eventually, why wait?

Millions of vaccinated Americans are now eligible to receive booster shots that offer additional protection against COVID-19, President Joe Biden announced at a press conference on Friday.
"If you got the Pfizer vaccine in January, February, or March of this year and you're over 65 years of age, go get the booster," said Biden. "Or if you have a medical condition like diabetes, or are a frontline worker, you can get your booster shot."
Biden's statement came hours after a late-night decree by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky, who approved booster shots despite her own agency's experts advising against this plan. There seems to have been much internal disagreement between the White House and health officials about which groups of people, if any, actually need booster shots. Ultimately, boosters are now approved for recipients of the Pfizer vaccine who got the shot more than six months ago, and are either elderly, a frontline worker, or in an at-risk health group.
"That group makes up 60 million Americans who are now eligible," said Biden.
This level of specificity with respect to who qualifies for booster shots is profoundly silly, and calls to mind the excessive queue sorting of the earliest stage of mass vaccination, when the CDC foolishly considered prioritizing so-called essential workers ahead of elderly Americans. In reality, many people who could benefit from booster shots might not ever get them, while many people who don't actually need them are already seeking them out, regardless of what the government says. Indeed, after Biden had finished speaking, a reporter asked the president about all the Americans who are receiving illicit booster shots, simply by going to a pharmacy and claiming that they are not yet vaccinated.
Biden's response was telling.
"What's going to happen is you're going to see that in the near term we're going to open this up anyway," said Biden. "We're also looking to the time when we're going to expand the booster shots across the board."
Biden outlined an incredibly specific and detailed set of criteria that dictate whether a person can get a booster shot. But he's not overly concerned about people who don't qualify jumping the line, because, well, government health officials will probably approve boosters for everyone else when they get around to it. That doesn't make very much sense: If the White House knows boosters are perfectly safe, and a good—though by no means strictly necessary—health measure for pretty much everybody, then it should really just open up the process right now.
It's fairly clear that the CDC's internal hesitance over booster shots was not grounded in any actual concern about the safety of booster shots. Health officials had concerns that were political rather than scientific: They were worried about increasing vaccine hesitancy, putting the country's vaccine supply to inefficient use, and also the unfairness of recommending boosters for Pfizer recipients only.
"I just don't understand how, later this afternoon, we can say to people 65 and older, 'You're at risk for severe disease and death, but only half of you can protect yourselves right now,'" Sarah Long, a pediatrician and infectious diseases expert at Drexel University, told The New York Times.
The obvious answer to this conundrum would be for the CDC to allow anybody who wants a booster to get one right now, but federal health bureaucrats place deference to their authority on a higher pedestal than public health. Biden seems fully aware that this delay serves no legitimate medical purpose, but isn't doing anything about it.

I find it hard to believe everyone finds it hard to believe this guy should never be believed.
Believe it if you need it
+1 long long time to be gone
Fuck Joe Biden
I'm not his type lol
Nope. Not gonna do that. Not ever. So my short answer is 'No' long answer is 'Hell no'. ????

Exactly. Sticking with zero shots
Why? Science, backed up by Rochelle Walensky and Tony Fauci, undoubtedly proves that submitting to government whims protects you from Covid. As a matter of fact, submissive people don't die at all, they live forever. Unfortunately, there are no people submissive enough to prove it, but the science says so, just ask dr. Fauci.
Joe Biden is just an old man who didn't want his children to grow up in the "racial jungle". And what a fine job he did as a parent! Your suggestion is appalling.
"...As a matter of fact, submissive people don’t die at all, they live forever..."
OBL would be proud.
Fuck Joe Biden.
nice post
When the FDA waits and studies and deprives people of medicine then they're killing people with their negligence, and when they roll something out on the fast track they're killing people with their negligence.
Negligence. It's all the FDA can do.
For you Trump supporters who have problems with big words:
Always instigating. Embarrassing how you ran from the earlier thread.
Impossible, sarcasmic is always the victim.
Just ask him. He'll swear he's innocent and everyone else is the problem.
Sarcasmic considers "negligence" a big word?
Embarrassing admission.
He still doesn't know what projection means.
"Hurr-durr, I know great big words like 'negligence' and 'cirrhosis'".
Congratulations sarc, you have a sixth-graders vocabulary.
And what the flying CRAP has Trump got to do with the fact that Biden is a giant dickhead?
Negligence, that's what! 🙂

For TDS-addled lefty shit:
Fuck off and die, asshole
For you Biden supporters who just have mental problems. "Ignorance is bliss."
Insufferable is a big word to.
too
"Stupid" is probably more than the infantile pile of lefty shit sarc can even understand.
"Stupid" does not begin to describe the infantile mental disabilities of the pathetic piece of lefty shit sarc
Fuck off and die, asshole.
Well, the problem is the fast track plus pushing (and often coercing) everyone to get it. Fast track is great. People should be allowed to try new things if they accept the risks. People should not be forced into any medical treatment, but it seems particularly unethical to do so with a treatment that has been rushed to market and has been in significant use for less than a year.
Glad someone pointed out the distinction between quick approval and forced compliance. Thanks.
Oh. So biden didn't announce that policy? FDA hasn't complained about political actors pushing for fixed determinations even though vaccine makers didn't provide safety data? Walensky didn't essentially overrule the FDA by expanding their approval metrics. None of these political shenanigans are happening? It is more important to protect the politics?
Of course not, I mean CNN and MSNBC didn't report that so it must not be true... /s
Fuck off and die, slimy piece of lefty sht=it.
Uh, did infantile lefty shit sarc suggest that a non-excitant difference means something?
Why, yes, the infantile piece of lefty shit did!
Fuck off and die, asshole.
I am pro vaccine. But I am against mandates in the private sector. Government sector? Hell yes! Some cop in San Jose quit rather than get vaccinate. Good riddance! Teachers need to be vaccinated, cops need to get vaccinated, soldiers need to get vaccinated, congressscum need to get vaccinated.
But businesses should neither be forced to be vaccinated, or forced not to get vaccinated (cough cruise ships cough). At the same time I want to know which businesses are saying "fuck vaccines" so that I can properly distance myself from their employees.
The fact that that people want to force it on us is enough reason to refuse it, if you ask me. You need use your rights or lose them. This is a big fucking deal that is way more important than whether or not I get sick from this one thing.
As someone with fairly minimal risk. I would certainly encourage people at high risk to get it if they so choose.
Logically this makes zero sense.
The fact that people want force me to eat and drink water makes sense that I should refuse it.
No one wants to force you to eat and drink water. In fact we would encourage you to abstain from this.
If you so choose, of course.
A vaccine is not necessary for basic survival.
Hey, Brandyshit! We got what you deserve!

So you want governments to force their employees to submit to an experimental medical treatment, and you still insist that you're a libertarian.
Got it.
Brandyshit needs to called on all of his bullshit, which is pretty much all that Brandyshit posts.
It's obvious that Brandyshit is tired of responding to the obvious points I make regarding the assholic Brandyshit and and has muted me, so if anyone not yet muted by the assholic Brandyshit were to include one of my comments regarding the assholic Brandyshit in their response, perhaps the asshholic Brandyshit might have an idea as to how the assholic Brandyshit is understood as an assholic piece of shit.
Oh, and if really want to know how I feel about the ASSHOLIC PIECE OF LEFTY SHIT BARANDYSHIT you might ask.
No one in this country "needs" to get vaccinated unless they WANT to get vaccinated. FYI, people in the "government sector" have the same constitutional rights as people in the "private sector." Go find a dictionary and look up the word hypocrite, then go look in the mirror to see a fine example on one looking back at you...
The Nuremberg code applies to all, not just civilians.
Why are you pro something doesn't doesn't appear to effectively stop transmission and its biggest boast is reduction of hospitalizations and deaths but those are already a low risk for a majority of the population?
Fuck off, slaving shit. My body, my choice.
Hey, Bransdyshit! There really is no offer I can suggest to such a steaming pile idiocy other than to make your family proud, the world a better place, and, if you let your dog know where you're to be buried, a place to shit upon your grave, TDS-addled asshole.
Fuck you with turds tiny dick,
>>Negligence. It’s all the FDA can do.
seems you've finally caught on.
My sentiments exactly. He's acting like the FDA has been infallible or even just ideologically consistent in it's application of an abundance of caution.
FunnyExceedingly blaè how his "BOATH SIDEZ!" schtick evaporates when he's defending the FDA.I don't know if you noticed or not, but the article is saying these "booster shots" have been approved by the CDC, not the FDA. Which is the problem, it's the FDA's job to approve drugs and drug regimens, not the CDC's. The FDA had not only not even approved the drug for multi-jab use, they hadn't even done any sort of studies on the question. They're a little bit upset and a little bit alarmed that they're being cut out of the loop here. But it's not like Biden has shown a lot of regard for following the law here, it's not like he would give a shit about taking care that the FDA be the ones to approve a new drug or a use for the drug beyond the scope of what the FDA had approved it for. Next he'll be telling us to drink bleach or a disinfectant or some shit and everybody will be fine with it.
And, contrary to what I'd seen what must be the world's stupidest doctor say on CNN when asked about what she thought about the booster shots, it simply is not true that "it just makes common sense, if one dose is good, two doses are better." No sane doctor would say such a thing, tell your patients that taking twice as much of a medication as you've been prescribed is a good idea.
"If fooling your body into producing antibodies once is good, doing it over and over must be better!" [twitch, twitch]
It's almost like they never heard of the tale of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
I went and searched after I wrote that last post.
There's a really good article in the New Yorker that I JUST read, where the doctor lays out what the FDA said and why. Summary:
1. Israeli data (which concurs with British and others) shows waning of protection IN OLDER POPULATIONS. Defined as over 60 by the Israelis. But not so much in younger populations, who remain well protected from severe covid.
2. Breakthroughs are more dangerous in older or immune compromised, by the very nature or covid.
3. The risk/reward ratio is far higher for someone 65 or, especially 75 than someone 20, whose chance of severe covid if they get a breakthrough is remarkably small.
Fuck "common sense." Common sense means jack shit to me. I want data. And these stats about where the waning is occurring are valuable data I hadn't understood before.
Now I get why the FDA only approved it for 65 and older or high-risk. A 20 year old who has been vaccinated is NOT a reservoir of note that will be reduced by a booster, is not having the waning protection issue, and even the infinitesimal risk of a booster has no reward. So, no approval until you show data that evidence a benefit.
Yeah basically the moral argument is that someone that is younger isn't going to be that bad off by getting exposure to covid post vaccination. On average anyway.
Maybe some of them would that didn't respond strongly initially to the vaccine have a possible bad outcome but most won't.
But that would require blood testing we don't have the capacity for everyone to try to go get a blood test, to see if levels have dropped off.
So we'd be better off leaving that vaccine shot due to the limited manufacturing capability to someone else.
Basically the combination of individual health and cost conflicting with global public health and population level metrics.
Younger people were ALWAYS well protected from severe covid.
Doubling down and now tripling down on stupid. I'm still waiting for some jackwagon to explain to me how injecting someone with a third dose coded to the genetic makeup of the now non-dominant virus is supposed to work.
The studies I have read on the matter just talk about an increased immune response. Well duh, inject anything into your body and you're going to have some kind of immune response. The question is more is that response effective at stopping the virus from replicating in your body? It would appear the answer to that is no.
Previous mRNA vaccine trials using spike protein deliveries (make your body produce ONLY the viral spike proteins for identification) found that rather than conferring immunity, it allowed variants to infect immune cells and spread even more severely when later reinfected.
It also displayed traits to allow the activation of latent illnesses, possibly as a result of the mRNA recombination. Cause indeterminant but results notable.
Check out Japan's data on where the shot actually goes - unlike intented design and other vaccines, it does not stay proximal to injection. Instead, within 48hrs, the majority of the vaccine (lipid-encapsulated mRNA) wound up lodging in your bone marrow and, for women, in their reproductive organs (minimal presence in male testes, however.)
“it just makes common sense, if one dose is good, two doses are better.”
I'll remember that at the next Phish show.
Both the quote and your reply are famous last words.
Just wait until its, "it just makes common sense, if 14 doses is good, 15 doses are even better." "You want to get back to normal, right?"
You’d have to dose on something to sit through a Phish show.
Which is the problem, it’s the FDA’s job to approve drugs and drug regimens, not the CDC’s.
Seems like the CDC has an infectious
snipebat colony that they should be out locating.Herp. If it works then why do you need a booster? Derp.
Herp. If it's safe then why does it need FDA approval? Derp.
Just stick to herp and derp buddy.
Herp. The Pfizer shot needs a booster but not Moderna or J&J, or the Novavax whenever it gets released. That means the Pfizer shot is extra-sooper effective. Derp.
Hey, Brandyshit! We got what you deserve, asshole!!
Just to clarify, this was the CDC, not the FDA.
Of course, political appointees, like Rochelle Walensky, know better than FDA. After all, they are only professionals and engineers.
It was a close 16-2 vote...
The proper thing here is to do two things simultaneously.
1) reduce red tape to bring drugs to market. EUA or whatever. Make it available with right to try for people who want it
2) do not force people, who are uncomfortable with that speed and would like more longevity on a drug, to use that drug.
It’s not hard. That’s free market principles. That’s reasonable. That’s libertarian.
But you guys are all about browbeating people into treatments they are uncomfortable with. If you want products to go to market faster, than we need a culture that promotes a patient’s choice to refuse specific treatments.
I would generally agree, but I have a counterpoint is a single word: Thalidomide
It worked great, except that if it was taken by pregnant women, the babies were born without arms or legs. Market forces are great when information is available. They don't work with horrifically incomplete information.
Except the FDA isn't depriving anyone of anything. Could booster shots help? Maybe. Could they be a complete waste of time and valuable resources? Quite possibly.
Don't forget, the vote of the advisory board wasn't close. It was overwhelmingly against boosters.
The idea that the politicians are trying to mandate something that their own experts are rejecting just makes my head spin. It's like a villain from a children's movie just saying "Being Scared is being prepared".
Health officials had concerns that were political rather than scientific
Why are you giving them the benefit of the doubt, Robby? If there is one thing that has been apparent from the beginning, it is that health officials have never had any scientific concerns. This has always been about ass covering.
The FDA kind of have. They've been trying their damnedest and are very cognizant of the political pressures. To the point where some people have even retired rather than deal with the political BS.
The thing is, with even Reason screaming at them to hurry up, the Democrats all saying "I won't trust a Trump vaccine without state approval" and all the anti-vax bots on social media, the FDA is in a bind. So they stuck to "you have to present THIS data and get it reviewed, period". The recent FDA decision was another "Look, we believe it's OK, but that's not enough. You have to PROVE it does this in these people, please come back to us when those data have been gathered." They are horrible bureaucrats, and bureaucracy is slow, but that is a feature as well as a bug. It's horribly time consuming and expensive, but far fewer drugs with issues get to market. There's only so much you can do to speed that up. But, from a government perspective, that IS science. You HAVE to have your data.
The CDC just... well, they go on TV and cry like bitches at a time when Covid is in massive decline. Their massive politicization just undermines everything, everywhere. The media amplifies everything bad in the "Science!" political complex.
If anything, politically, the FDA probably felt they couldn't approve boosters before September 20 simply because there's no way in hell they'd NOT look political when Biden announced them before they had gotten past regulators.
It’s horribly time consuming and expensive, but far fewer drugs with issues get to market.
Interesting point. Snake oil salesmen can't afford to wait around.
10 years is the average vaccine release length on account of long-term safety testing. Vaccines have been pulled for 4 deaths in early trials.
At least 14k and climbing dead from this one.
Has even one reporter asked what the percentage of unvaccinated adults who have already had Covid is?
Remember Herd Immunity? Why no questions about that?
What about the risks and benefits of taking the various vaccines if you have already had Covid? Is anyone checking for that? Because they are advocating giving multiple vaccinations to way over a hundred million who have already had it. It seems like that would be something worth knowing. Is there any real benefit? In a disease that has many of it's detrimental effects rooted in inflammation, you would think that examining the results of prior exposure would be important.
And what about withholding monoclonal antibody treatments from states with republican governors to stockpile them in Democrat strongholds? No interest from the press on that one?
Or how about the relative risk of vaccinating kids who have extremely low risk from the virus?
Also, what about reducing transmission? Presumably the major driver of vaccinating children is to reduce the potential carriers... But they were found to be poor vectors for the original variant. Does vaccination have any impact on transmissibility for kids? How much?
There sure are a lot of very important questions that have not only gone unanswered... They have not even been asked.
"Has even one reporter asked what the percentage of unvaccinated adults who have already had Covid is?"
If the CDC hadn't screwed the pooch re Covid tests, and appears intent on continuing to do so, we would probably have a good idea. Two presidents to blame for this fiasco.
Read an article recently where they interviewed a few epidemiologists. A couple think this is the last wave, another thinks there's another possible in the winter, one just rambled about possible variants, etc... good article, typical guesses from models.
But the character from UCSD dropped one big bomb along the lines of "Our data is horrible" with regards to previous infections. And other things.
But that's pretty scathing. The CDC has one fucking job, and data should be the core of it. They screwed up testing, they stopped better testing, testing is everywhere now and lots of localities collect results... but they aren't collecting the data at the CDC in any useful form, nor are they doing studies (like the NHS does) of groups willing to be tested for antibodies and active covid.
That should have been CDC project #1 in 2020, before vaccines became available. Every model is worse because those data don't exist in a centralized form.
They still have never tested the vaccines against known exposure to the live virus, yet somehow determined it had 95% efficacy against infection. In a population of 330 million, I am sure they could have found enough young healthy volunteers willing to take payment for the risk. But they didn't, which has lead to the campaign against the unvaccinated because they are unwilling to admit that the vaccinated are transmitting the virus at close to the same rate.
It is garbage science and lies all the way down.
There was an ethical debate over whether to do a challenge study. Since there's no treatment for 'rona that's guaranteed to work, etc. It's really hard to do a challenge trial in that circumstance under current ethics rules.
Thing is, the surge in November last year really accelerated things. They got plenty of exposures in the test group. Delta is NOT the same as Alpha and Covid OG, but how do you test THAT using a challenge trial in a methodical way?
Anyway, hundreds of millions of people have been vaccinated and some people are publishing assloads of data now. You just have to look somewhere other than the CDC to find it.
Actually... There's at least 4 drugs already out, already FDA approved and tested that have demonstrated remarkable therapeutic effects in treating Covid.
Just... Not in the US. We have an EUA to maintain for our buddies.
The efficacy numbers always came from the manufacturers. They were never accurate.
But that’s pretty scathing. The CDC has one fucking job, and data should be the core of it. They screwed up testing, they stopped better testing, testing is everywhere now and lots of localities collect results… but they aren’t collecting the data at the CDC in any useful form, nor are they doing studies (like the NHS does) of groups willing to be tested for antibodies and active covid.
I've been bitching about this for at least a year. But nobody listens to me; I'm just an analyst. For fuck's sake, they even track this in India, a place not known for responsive or forward-thinking bureaucracy.
This particular debacle, moreso than any others, is proof that the CDC in its current form needs to be ended in its entirety and recreated in some other fashion. It has failed, utterly, and it continues to fail.
> But nobody listens to me;
I listened.
I know it means jack shit.
And one Chinese Politician
Sorry, I'm donating my booster shot to some third world country where people are still waiting for their first shot.
And reviewing the Moderna data, which shows booster shots aren't needed for anyone. (1% chance of breakthrough infection, 0.03% chance of hospitalization, even a year later.)
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/15/covid-booster-shots-moderna-releases-data-on-breakthrough-cases-backing-need-for-third-doses.html
But Moderna (and J&J) can make far more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ if the FDA approves their booster vaccines.
At FDA, Big Pharma profits have trumped public health for the past several decades.
Yeah, not exactly a coincidence that both of them are saying that doing a booster gives you EXTRA BIG-ASS IMMUNITY!
DOUBLE SECRET IMMUNITY!!!!!!!! WITH FORCE FIELDS!!!!!!!!!
CE what of this? doesn't seem .03?
https://www.kpax.com/news/coronavirus/libby-care-center-confirms-14-covid-19-related-deaths
Not exactly a random sample. Or a representative one. Also missing is total residents and total infected in each cohort. So, what you keep posting is really just another piece of shoddy journalism.
Read the CNBC article. 3 hospitalizations in 14,746 people vaccinated July to October last year (actually 0.02%). 0 hospitalizations in 11,431 people vaccinated December to March. Wow, waning effectiveness. But they forgot to mention that the people vaccinated last year were likely older and more at risk.
Moderna's own data, trying to show how desperately we need booster shots.
Would "You will not get a booster until the CDC says so" not be a more accurate headline?
I suppose in the end both are likely to be true.
I was thinking "You will get the booster when I say, but today isn't the day! Muahahahaha!"
Works best with a German accent. "You vill get ze shot ven ve say you vill get ze shot"
Fuck off, asshole.
No.
"The obvious answer to this conundrum would be for the CDC to allow anybody who wants a booster to get one right now, but federal health bureaucrats place deference to their authority on a higher pedestal than public health"
Except the FDA hasn't approved Pfizer's booster vaccine for everyone, just folks over 65 and those who are immunocompromised.
Note to Soave: CDC doesn't issue guidance on vaccines (or any other FDA approved drugs) until/unless they are first approved by FDA.
Yeah, I am done with this nonsense. A fucking year of "Just shelter for two weeks, now 2 months, now a year, now mask, now double mask, now jab, and jab again, and put back on the mask, and get the jab one more time." And every time, they promise salvation, and the screeching harpies demand we do the needful, and every time there is another needful we just have to do.
I chose to get my jab on the promise that I could take off my fucking mask and go about my life as normal. But they have proven that they are either lying or incompetent. Go get your booster if you want (and for certain at-risk people, I get why), but if you are taking that booster so that things "can get back to normal" then don't be surprised when normal never comes.
"'I chose to get my jab on the promise that I could take off my fucking mask and go about my life as normal. But they have proven that they are either lying or incompetent. Go get your booster if you want (and for certain at-risk people, I get why), but if you are taking that booster so that things “can get back to normal” then don’t be surprised when normal never comes."'
Sadly, more likely accurate than not.
This *is* "normal" now. Count on it.
*cranks on the ratchet handle*
It was clear in May 2020 that this shit won't end until people refuse to comply. When the BLM protests failed to end it, I became much more pessimistic.
I had some optimism that vaccinations would get things back to normal. And in terms of behavior of people I see out in the world, it does seem to have done so. Unfortunately it did not have such an effect on government activities and there is still the large pajama class cowering in fear every time the CDC tells them to.
Unfortunately too many people--not just power-hungry politicians--don't want normal to ever come back.
This is simple. Everyone just needs to comply with the next mandate. That will be the one that gets us out of this pandemic and allows us to reinstate our rights. Just like the next multi billion dollar homelessness program is going to be the one that solves homelessness. We are almost there!!
I didn't read the article. I just came here to say,
Fuck Joe Biden.
That was as insightful as the average Nardz or Sevo comment.
Without the calls to murder.
Fuck you too.
Your mom.
I thought kids were your thing.
Well, so is making an asshole of himself claiming "murder!"
I would prefer you take care of it yourself.
Yeah, but still.

The only facts that matter to me are the ones that have affected my life. And in my experience 100% of cops are irredeemable pieces of garbage that belong in a compactor.
It wouldn't matter if he added insightful comments. You have your truth and that's all that matters. What a good little post modernist you are.
I can read the article but I can ignore what president potato head says.
Not my president.
Biden can personally take my extra dose.
He should take all the booster shots 'cause it's safe.
At least all of the extras he paid for. Waste not, want not.
biden taking a booster on live TV should be a must watch. Need confirmation it's not a placebo. Maybe he'll get even dumber.
$5 on drooling.
Oh, groan...Mr. Potato head speaks and we're supposed to march right up and take the kill shot booster.
'Cause he just wants people to die!
First he needs to get his son cleaned up from all that crack cocaine and booze before he can lecture to the rest of us about our personal health. Then again, liberals never let their own personal problems get in the way of deciding what's best for the rest of us. No way.
As I said, who gives a shit if the CDC has approved a second dose, it's the FDA's job to approve such a thing. The FDA looked at the question of whether or not one vaccination was safe and effective, as far as I know they've never looked at the question of whether or not two vaccinations are safe and effective. Why the CDC is usurping the FDA's authority and why Puddinhead Joe is championing their effort to do so when you know goddamn well he's not going to take any responsibility if something goes wrong is beyond me.
FDA and CDC are looking at this from different perspectives.
FDA is looking at the risk/benefit for individual patients.
CDC is responsible for public health policy.
Those answers can be different.
Yeah, but we are not free as a society, we are free as individuals.
Fuck the CDC. Let them recommend all they want, but edicts or government action based on those recommendations is tyranny.
Quarantine of individuals proven to be infected should be the only recourse allowed.
“ Quarantine of individuals proven to be infected should be the only recourse allowed.”
And how are you going to prove someone is infected?
Used to be when you showed symptoms.
[cough, cough]
FDA approved it easier this week. CDC isn't usurping. "They" are declining to recommend a drug that the FDA allows.
"They" in quotes because CDC director went ahead and made the official position of the CDC to recommend boosters for people in high risk jobs despite what the CDC's committee said. So the CDC and FDA actually agree.
Actually, the FDA only approved it for those over 65 and those at risk, the CDC approved it for front line workers without a recommendation from the FDA.
I don't think that is correct. The FDA approved it for people at higher risk, which got defined as higher risk due to health or occupation.
No, that is a linguistic argument not a scientific one. The FDA approval was for medically high risk, i.e. based on medical previous conditions.
No. The FDA press release specifically calls it out:
https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-authorizes-booster-dose-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine-certain-populations
"individuals 18 through 64 years of age whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 puts them at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19 including severe COVID-19"
While they coach it in terms severe COVID, there is no reason to believe that any kind of exposure to COVID is more dangerous than other kinds, so this is really just saying people at high risk of being exposed to COVID due to their jobs or living arrangements (i.e. prisoners).
1. No one is entitled to free shots.
2. Anyone willing to pay for a booster shot should be able to get one.
But that wouldn't allow companies like Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson to syphon off billions in taxpayer dollars and we can't have that now can we...
The end of every day is the perfect time to let your imagination run wild and declare yourself to that special someone. A simple goodnight message can bring a smile, but a very passionate and romantic phrase is even better!

Fuck Joe Biden.
At this point I'm starting to wonder if the more extreme anti-Pfizer vax conspiracies are actually correct.
I'm a fan of the one where Biden doesn't actually have dementia. His mental condition is a vaccine injury.
Several months ago I thought him dropping dead on us would be about one of the absolute worst things possible. Now I'm increasingly finding myself wishing he would choke to death on an ice cream cone already.
Why do you care what Biden says about the vaccines? Either get a third shot, or don't. You don't need his permission.
I don't think 'giving permission' is the extent of his plan....
"Biden's statement came hours after a late-night decree by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky, who approved booster shots despite her own agency's experts advising against this plan."
Fuck Biden, Fuck Walensky and Fuck Fauci. This has nothing to do with medicine.
worst. orgy. ever.
You gotta love the irony, after all of their anti-vax bashing -
Two Hosts Test Positive for Covid-19 LIVE on The View Moments Before Kamala Harris Interview
“So since this is going to be a major news story any minute now, what happened is that Sunny and Ana both apparently tested positive for Covid,” Behar said. “No matter how hard we try, see things happen. They probably have a breakthrough case, and they’ll be ok, I’m sure, because they’re both vaccinated up the wazoo. I mean, a lot of vaccines.”
Joy Behar for Biden’s Surgeon General
Someone said in response that they should give Ana a donut injected with ivermectin to help her get better.
What's even better as that all those hags probably got the COVID juice, and still managed to catch it.
and they’ll be ok, I’m sure, because they’re both vaccinated up the wazoo. I mean, a lot of vaccines.”
What, did Ana have to get all three versions because she's so fat that one wasn't sufficient to make her "immune"?
I don’t think “up the wazoo” is where these vaccines are supposed to go.
But each to xer own.
Mind you, Behar already knew why those two hosts were being removed the show and those two women of course went through all the steps to appear on the set which of course could have exposed any number of staff of the show to the virus. It is pretty absurd to have hosts take a test and then announce the results live on the air.
Gods damn! Why are people making this so hard? If you want a second helping a vaccine then go and get one.
When I got mine, they only asked which flavor I wanted. It seems they only ask my name so they could write it down on the card.
And how long until that booster becomes a Mandate?
It's the 3rd and the 4th and the 5th helping we're worried about. And OSHA making them mandatory.
I don't want any of them and that choice ought to be respected.
Did Biden get a memo advising him to mandate boosters? I can't get too bent out of shape about unilateral action on the part of the executive, the FDA, and the CDC unless I've got a memo suggesting they exercise power the Constitution clearly doesn't grant them.
You will get the shot. You will wear the mask. You will eat the bugs. You will vote for the Democratic candidate. You will be happy.
The committees were clever. They saw how vaccine mandates came in even before full approval. So, they make a recommendation that has loopholes big enough to drive a truck through, but still makes mandates logistically near impossible to impose. The data we have so far is comforting enough to let people make their own decision*. However, we have nowhere near the amount of data that we would need to push/require young men to get the booster (who, in general, will get barely any benefit but are at risk of mitocondrias). So, because the government and major corporations jumped the gun on the committees last time, this is their method of preventing that from happening again.
* I am well aware that this is a libertarian site that believes that anyone should have the right to inject anything into their body. I am talking from the perspective of the committees that have bought into the idea that the federal government ought to be nannying people's medical decisions.
This is no longer a libertarian site, just a site posing as libertarian.
4 Basic Principles of Libertarians
Libertarianism is not just a political theory, but it is also a philosophy for understanding certain aspects of human relationship, judging and explaining the path of human evolution and an attitude towards life. Many people claim to know nothing about libertarianism, but when they were told about it, they realised they were always been a libertarian. For those who are still confused about what they know has really something to do with libertarianism, then here are a few basic libertarian principles that will help you recognise who you are.
#1 Stand by their words and actions
Libertarians firmly believe that the individuals are the only responsible for the situation they find themselves in and the choices they make. Good or bad, they must face the consequences and avoid putting the blame on others if they don’t get the desired outcome of their actions. However, whether they succeed or not in their endeavours, their efforts, planning and foresight are the first thing that defines the result. They shouldn’t be afraid of the shame that their actions would bring, and courageously face even the worst of situations.
#2 Understand and support other’s beliefs
As libertarian’s basic fundamental value is maximum freedom, they also teach and promote other moral and religious principles despite their own religious beliefs. They believe that there should be complete acceptance of the beliefs and opinions of other individuals, rather than imposing their own theories on others. Every individual’s behaviour or belief is permitted as long as it doesn’t conflict with others’ freedom and life. An individual is allowed to live his life the way he wants if he doesn’t harm any other individual, even though the majority of the population disapproves his acts.
#3 Focus to improve rather than achieving perfection
Libertarian believes that life is a constantly changing process that would persistently bring new adaptation and challenges. According to them, it is impossible to achieve that perfect life or to create a perfect world where everybody is equal and all of our needs and wishes are fulfilled without a struggle. Libertarians are generally described as pragmatic and realistic in their beliefs and life’s challenges, and although they are settled with the world as it is, they wish to see the world change for the better. They believe only the individual’s efforts, knowledge and contentment will enable them to live a peaceful life.
#4 Encourage free market system
Libertarians believe in the free market system, which means there should be unrestricted competition between businesses with no or little control of the government. They believe that there should be elimination of income taxes, social security and internal revenue service, so that the businesses and individuals can donate to help people who are less fortunate. Even Bydiscountcodes.co.uk can help you save tons of money and donate to charity. The concept of free market allows companies and individuals live without the help of government.
Thus, these are just a few things that could help determine libertarianism for individuals who wish to live on this ideology. Though, there are certain complex political and economic arguments, but they will barely have such impact on people who are not bothered about these debates and follow libertarian principles.
As you can see, Reason stopped standing for these four basic principles long ago.
^ THIS.
5. Respect the rights of others.
6. Neither endorse, condone nor recommend actions or programs that infringe on the rights of others.
7. Even if they are less bad than some other actions or programs.
Or, as I like to nutshell it: nunya business
I disagree on the 4 principles (and, a bit, that Reason doesn't abide by them). You've taken out some impartial libertarian tenets and substituted some borderline anti-libertarian ones. And despite adding more tenets, you've glossed over some obvious conditions and situations that fewer principles already addressed. Namely, you skip the NAP and substitute it with 'understand and support', which arguably supports initiation of aggression. If I had to similarly avoid specifically discussing aggression I'd say, "Don't oppress those who can do you no good or have done you no harm." 'Understand and support' implies a positive action or social debt to others' based on their belief and creates conundrums with non-libertarians.
If aggression has been initiated, are libertarians still required to understand and support those who initiated agression? Do I have to understand or support Scientology to take a libertarian stance on it? If I understand and support rights for slaves am I obligated to stop the oppression of slaves? Obligated to oppress (up to and including aggression) slaveholders in support of slaves?
Half of Reason's unprincipled stupidity is the belief that people are obligated to understand and support morons with superficially pointless or even terrible beliefs that don't benefit, and in many ways harm, anyone/everyone up to and including the believers themselves. When libertarianism and pragmatism only dictates that they not actively oppress or aggress against them.
creates conundrums with non-libertarians.
Or even internally. You can't stand by your words and actions if your next tenet is to understand and support others. Your words and actions are subject to their understanding and beliefs.
Sooo, not……..
Everything Is So Terrible And Unfair! (tm) ?
I knew there was something I liked about this.
8. Use any force necessary to guarantee the above and eliminate slavers.
9. A well satiated society, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep vaping products and bare Mexican ass sex, shall not be infringed.
No doctor's note or other documentation is required to get a booster shot. Nothing more than self-attestation is required.
So, the soave kid's headline is a big pile, and the body of his piece almost concedes as much. Regardless of exactly what biden or the cdc said, nobody who wants a booster will have any trouble getting one.
On the flip side, anyone who doesn't want a booster isn't going to be pressured to get one because these rules make a mandate too complicated. Whereas if the booster was made available to everyone, I can almost guarantee that the definition of "fully vaccinated" would change to require the booster (at least in some blue states).
Kid, you don't look 65. Who does your hair?
Biden: You Will Get a Booster Shot When the CDC Says So
Almost everyone else: Fuck you and the snake you slid in on.
What about all of us who got Moderna? No mention of us.....but it is proving to be the better vaccine protection......
The data isn't showing moderna waning in protection.
So basically moderna got either dosage right, or went overkill enough on dosage to compensate for getting the time line wrong. (Longer spacing is proven better now but we didn't know that when the trials were going on).
Pfizer didn't go ham on the dosage like moderna did, which is why many of the short term side effects weren't as bad, but unfortunately it wasn't enough overcome the challenges caused by the slightly mutated in india form of covid (delta), and by the previously unknown less optimal spacing in time.
So basically Pfizer people, especially older people who have weakened immune systems or don't respond to vaccines as well in general, probably need a third dose. Younger people on an individual level might also need a third dose but it's so variable on an individual level that they're not going to recommend it in general because vaccine manufacturing is limited and it's better to try to vaccinate the world quicker in an attempt to stop the chance of mutation that's worse than delta. There is also the very slight chance of a more serious side effect if you responded really well to the first two doses or had been previously infected with covid and didn't know it.
So basically the information in the media is terrible, it really lacks the nuance to properly understand things. But that's pretty much where we are.
Bullshit!
Here, read this:
https://off-guardian.org/2021/09/22/30-facts-you-need-to-know-your-covid-cribsheet/
manufacturers originally called this "gene therapy".
Delta "breakthrough" cases are more likely mRNA injection injuries.
Me to Biden: you will screw off when I tell you too. So make that effective immediately.
Me to Biden: you will screw off when I tell you to.
Translation: "I want to give money to my union cronies, not lavish it extraneous shots for the hoi palloi for a disease I never really gave a single fuck about in the first place. Damn it, can we talk about how to spend this nation into servitude or not?!"
And we all saw this coming a mile away. No chance that Biden turns down 60M+ more jabs in arms.
Million dollar idea: set up a website where people who don't want to get vaccinated can connect with people who want early boosters.
They ain’t carbon credits.
So what will happen with all the vaccines needed to force on the unvaccinated yokels and give out to poor countries once all the rich hypochondriac progtards have used them up for boosters?
The progressives don’t care of they get monthly boosters while field dingers in high risk categories are still waiting for their first.
What we are experiencing is the mainstream media trying desperately to use the pandemic and vaccine to make team democrat look good and republicans look bad. It's being exploited for political purposes, because they can't figure out why they keep losing popularity so they double down with even more unnecessary illogical behavior and manipulation, not realizing that's the whole problem. At this rate the Biden administration has failed and is quickly backing themselves up to the edge of a cliff in their refusal to be accountable. Lets just hope they don't resort to burning the whole place down before giving up.
What makes it even more of a joke is the fact that there is no correlation between vaccine hesitancy and political party.
I think what we a are seeing with hesitancy to approve booster shots is a handful of people in the FDA waking up and realizing that it may be a bad Idea to rush approval for booster shits for a newly implemented vaccine technology with only rushed short term trials that has unknown long term effects in the midst of a pandemic. These are experimental vaccines and as such, its a violation of the Nuremberg Code to mandate or coerce people to get them in any way. All other arguments are conspiracy theories are but a smokescreen. They say "follow the science". But do so by being the lab rat. This isn't a partition issue, its not a civil rights issue, its a human rights issue.
Follow the science and take the shot, said the doctor to the lab rat.
More dead and injured from these shots than every other FDA approved vaccine since 1990 combined.
Safe!
Breakthrough infections within months of the fully vaccinated.
Effective!
Fuck Joe Biden and fuck you too, Robby.
No, Joe. I won't.
They have been making up "the science" from day one, so sorry I won't be taking any shots.
Been nice not knowing ya.
Haven't you heard? Science is racist.
Biden: You Will Get a Booster Shot When the CDC Says So

As an obedient American citizen who enjoys jumping at orders like a buck private, I just get a warm, worshipful feeling when my directions come straight from the top.
Dear JoJo,
Not gonna happen.
Signed,
Smarter than you.
The author misses the salient point. People against the boosters feel that America should give free vaccine to other countries ("poor" countries) and until those other countries get our vaccine, Americans shouldn't.
There also are people that recognize this is a dangerous and novel shot that has killed thousands in the pursuit of saving those that are not at risk...
But, but science. How much more are Americans willing to withstand? We are nearing a breaking point.
At least no more mean tweets, right reason? Happy now that your boy is in office?
Totalitarianism lives in bright daylight.
It could be just a bluff
Hey Joe, Got Vax'ed, Still Got Covid over the summer. NOW FULLY IMMUNE, not getting a booster. PERIOD.

I was on board with the vaccine. I got the J&J in April and had no notable side effects. I won't get a booster. I will roll the dice and count on treatments. There are too many issues. Too many deaths, heart problems, neurologic problems.
What level of failure of “personal responsibility” do you bug-chasing freaks have to demonstrate before you lose the argument?
Is there no way to test your theory? Not even watching people die of Covid by the thousands denying they have Covid?
At some point you don’t get to just assert a political theory and then demand we all live by it. Evidence is not optional, assholes, and the evidence says you should shut up and let the jackboots inject you with whatever they tell you to take. It couldn’t possibly result in less death than the libertarian approach has.
What evidence is that exactly Tony? People die by the thousands everyday and did so well before covid-19 but apparently they won't be dying of the flu anymore.
The way the Administration has gone about this Booster thing really makes it seem like Biden will only follow the science if it fits his preferred political narrative.
Ding ding ding
The simple answer to let people choose if they want to get the booster, choose if they want get the vaccine, choose if they want to mask or not mask.
The authoritarian tendencies of the Biden administration and several state governments has become very clear and rather alarming with blitzkrieg velocity.
18 month ago I never would have dreamed the country would be in the peril to the degree we find ourselves currently. Pretending that the authoritarian state does not have designs on reducing our individual liberties is laughable.
This is correct. It is, unfortunately, considered heresy in this time of COVID Crisis, the new religion. The vast majority of Americans are falling to their knees and begging to be enslaved by an unending string of emergency mandates.
“it just makes common sense, if one dose is good, two doses are better..” [Reason](https://reason.com).
