CNN's Leana Wen: The Unvaccinated Should Not Be Allowed To Leave Their Homes

"You have the option to not get vaccinated if you want," said the doctor. "But then you can't go out in public."

|

Leana Wen is a visiting professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, a Washington Post columnist, the former president of Planned Parenthood, and a medical analyst for CNN. She appeared on the network several times in the past 24 hours to react to President Joe Biden's sweeping new vaccine mandate—which she evidently believes does not go far enough.

"We need to start looking at the choice to remain unvaccinated the same as we look at driving while intoxicated," she told CNN's Chris Cuomo Thursday night. "You have the option to not get vaccinated if you want, but then you can't go out in public."

Wen elaborated that society has an "obligation to prevent" the unvaccinated from leaving their homes and infecting others, in the same way that society has an obligation to deter drunk drivers.

"The vaccinated should not have to pay the price for the so-called choices of the unvaccinated anymore," she continued.

This is a tortured analogy, since the unvaccinated do not actually pose much of a risk to the vaccinated. In recent weeks, the unvaccinated have constituted 99 percent of hospitalizations and deaths. The unvaccinated aren't drunk drivers—they're more like drivers who won't buckle their seat belts, and are only likely to crash into other unbelted drivers. They are the victims of their own bad choices, and the government shouldn't force them to make better ones.

But Wen had more to say in a subsequent appearance.

"I think we really need to make it clear that there are privileges associated with being an American," said Wen. "If you wish to have these privileges, you need to get vaccinated. Travel, and having the right to travel interstate—it's not a constitutional right as far as I know, to board a plane….If you want to stay unvaccinated, that's your choice, but if you want to travel, you better go get vaccinated."

To be clear, the range of activities that Wen believes the government should deny to the unvaccinated is incredibly broad. And while it's true that there's no right to use a specific means of travel, the U.S. Constitution absolutely enshrines the right to engage in interstate travel more generally. If the unvaccinated were not allowed to take public transportation, travel to other states, or go outdoors, then the government would not be giving them the "choice" to stay unvaccinated in any meaningful sense.

Wen's only criticism of Biden's new mandate was that she didn't think he was serious enough about enforcing it.

"I wish he had also announced some type of proof of vaccination," she said. "It's so easy to counterfeit. We don't allow this to board an airplane, right? You don't go to the [Travel Security Administration (TSA)] checkpoint and say I am who I say I am, here's a piece of paper where I wrote my name."

Wen's comparison to the TSA is apt, though not in the way she intended it. The TSA is an enormous waste of resources and an example of security theater. Making passengers present identification, take off their shoes and belts, and discard liquids in order to board a plane does not contribute to anyone's safety. The agency, which turns 20 years old in November, should be disbanded entirely. It should not serve as a model for federally enforced vaccine passport requirements.

For more on the madness of Biden's vaccine mandate and the tyranny of public health experts, read my op-ed in The New York Times. I also discussed the mandate with The Intercept's Ryan Grim on The Hill's Rising program.

  1. If you’re a visiting professor of health policy and management, the whole world looks like a nail.

    1. For the benefit of the thread, arguing with Mike is arguing with someone who will never take responsibility for what he says. In fact, within days he will be acting as if he never said these things in the first place. He is a completely disingenuous adversary and you would do better arguing with the main character from Memento.

That is Mike insisting that he “would never look to Rolling Stone” for news, after spreading their bogus ivermectin story only days earlier. Consider that: He didn’t apologize. He didn’t even try to ignore his mistake. He brazenly tried to dunk on Rolling Stone to make himself look like an arbiter of truth.

The pathological narcissism required to disrespect the truth and readers so heavily should make him ashamed. It won’t though, so I advise others in the thread to avoid engaging with someone that argues in such bad faith.

      5. He’s just another troll; we have a mute option now.

    2. She’s your kinda person, asshole Nazi Mike.

      1. Lol. Him and sarcasmic will be telling us how the gop are worse shortly. Sarcasmic was just crowing about his first negative biden comment in 9 months in a thread he attacked trump more in. Hilarious.

These assholes don’t give a shit about authoritarianism under the left. They hate the right more.

        1. Keep arguing with the voices in your head. You can’t lose.

          1. So you didn’t say this right after your first anti biden post? Note you didn’t even criticize the policy, just him.

Now if I felt like I had an obligation to impress JesseAz I’d bookmark this comment and show it to him on demand. But it’s more fun for him to make an ass out of himself and tell me such comments don’t exist.

You were so proud of your first anti biden comment that you crowed about doing it so I won’t post about your lack of comments. Lol.

            Talk about principles.

            1. Even funnier that he pretends not to care about what you think and then goes ahead and posts his defense of himself anyway. Poor sarcasmic the eternal victim. If only you and all those other Trumpistas hiding under his bed didn’t make him do these things. You’re probably the reason he beat his life and fucked his daughter and lost both in a horribly acrimonious divorce that he drunk-posted about for close to a year.

              1. It’s not that sarcasmic is a dickhead, it’s the hundred and fifty other regular posters who are the assholes. sarcasmic is an innocent little lamb who never did nothing wrong.

              2. Yea it is hilarious when you can tell he’s so worked up he replies to his own replies because no one is giving him attention fast enough.

          2. That was funny sarcasmic.

        2. Don’t take it out on the NPCs, they were programmed that way.

    3. This woman is stoking the flames that will get people killed. So is president Biden and nearly the entirety of twitter
Demonizing poor people like a child
Its been shown that the vaccines create varients not people
Many have valid reasons as why they wont get vaccinated.
Now the US & its mouth pieces have decided to make citizens into animals to be shunned deprived of work or even leaving the house.
If you got vaccinated by your own admission your got nothing to worry about.
This woman is a frightened dangerous idiot

      1. Vaccines absolutely do not create variants, that makes no sense. Variants are all just random genetic mutations that occur when a virus reproduces. By exerting selective pressure, vaccines will influence which random variants survive and which die out, but they don’t create any variants. The more widespread vaccination is, the virus will have less opportunities to reproduce and mutate, meaning there will be less variants.

        1. So vaccines don’t create variants… They just help select the more dangerous mutations. Got it…

    4. Elite Jacobins like Wen are waxing.

Jean-Paul Marat in 21st century clothing, she is.

  2. I think we really need to make it clear that there are privileges associated with being an American

Damn! And all this time I thought the reason I was free to walk out my own front door was because I was white.

    1. Yes, those pesky “privileges”, like speech and assembly. Only available to good people who follow orders, right?

    2. Slightly more seriously. Were there *any* pro-slavery Southerners that were this oppressive? Had to step out of the way of white people, sit at the back of the bus, stores you couldn’t go into, drinking fountains you couldn’t use? Sure, but you were still able to walk down the street, ride the bus, maybe had to get or have permission to go into a store, but you were still fairly free to go outside and AFAIK, there was literally no one calling for all slaves everywhere to be locked in their homes and be unequivocally denied access to public lands and properties.

      1. Whipped, beaten, raped, families sold off separately, yeah, that’s all minor shit.

        1. Django Unchained wasn’t a documentary bro. Neither was Roots. Paying the equivalent of tens of thousands of dollars for a slave and then destroying it didn’t make a whole lot of economic sense. Most weren’t treated any worse than indentured servants or prisoners. Which certainly doesn’t excuse slavery. mad.casual seems to have been making a comparison more to Jim Crow than slavery anyway. If you could fucking read.

          1. I don’t see how bringing up a movie has any relevance to the discussion.

            1. Oh fuck off, you disingenuous sack of shit. You’ve used movies as analogies constantly.
Hope they never wasted fifty-cents paying you for that post. Troll smarter next time.

              1. Oh, “Liarson”, lol.

Got me twice here. It’s too late and I plead Poe’s.

            2. If someone appears to be using Hollywood products as their primary historical sources, it does. Though I agree it probably shouldn’t.

          2. Wait…two different things and he doesn’t get to choose which one is the subject? Oh. It was a virtue signal. nvm

        2. Barricade Garage (of Youtube) honestly questioned whether many were better off as slaves than being sent back to Africa. Just his opinion but he appears to have an honest street wisdom.

      2. You might want to take a step back with that comment.

    3. Maybe she misunderstands the meaning of “privileges and immunities of citizenship.”

      1. No, she doesn’t ‘misunderstand’. She just doesn’t like the idea that privileges, immunities and rights aren’t contingent on her and her ilk’s desire to decide who can benefit from and exercise them.

        1. How do you know what ideas she doesn’t like? Do you know her?

          1. Yes, he’s binking her.

Now fuck off with your juvenile “How do you know” sophistry.

            1. In my defense, it’s not really parody if it’s the exact same shit the genuine article would try and pull.

    4. That girl is out of her league.

      1. I think she’s really gone too far here. I think that we’d be perfectly fine just forcing the unvaccinated to wear armbands identifying themselves. Maybe with a bright yellow Covid-19 virus on it? Though, stylized. Possibly just with six points on it.

        1. Doesn’t matter, this is just programming the idiots that still watch CNN and take it seriously. Now they will all be saying this nonsense. It is no different than the idiots demanding the people who refuse medical tyranny not be treated at the supposedly overrun hospitals.

In the coming weeks you will see more of this programming, followed by the administration trying to implement many of these things.

      2. Ah, so! I am Doktor Wen. You here for voluntary shot, yes?

        1. That should be “voruntaly shot”.

    5. I’m going to start making road trips here and there, possibly into another state or two just to prove the point I can DAMN WELL travel where ever I want.

      1. Made several this year. Only real problem was the lack of fully staffed restaurants.

  3. I used to paraphrase Thatcher by saying, “‘The problem with social justice warriors is that you eventually run out of other people to ruin”, but I was wrong. Progressives create new enemies out perfectly innocent people whenever they want, and they’ll keep dividing the country against itself all the way down to the individual if we let them. They need to be stopped. This is another reason why progressives are America’s most horrible people.

    1. It’s insane how we’re so far beyond Ayn Rand villainy that Glenn Beck’s Agenda 21 is actually starting to look well written and, despite being so far away from A Handmaid’s Tale, *that’s* the prophetic literary warning.

    2. But, Ken, the desired type of progress and timeline can only be achieved by forcing people to obey. How else can we achieve a just utopia?

    3. Perpetual revolution. Actually their adversaries, the would-be partisans of freedom, could use more of that spirit.

Instead they’ve been so relatively content for so long that they’ve become completely compliant to the view that there was one move against tyranny, and that was 1776, and that was that. Even the barest hint of belief in apriori rights, that your obedience to the decisions of authority is not unconditional, and we are to regard this as creepy insurrectionism amounting to treason. People are thoroughly conditioned to be unsettled to even hear themselves contemplating something so ghastly.

      1. “Actually their adversaries, the would-be partisans of freedom, could use more of that spirit”

        This.
We all (me included) sit here and bitch, but I bet none of us really bother putting in the effort to defend freedom, that an average prog does towards seizing power.

        1. Why do you think no-shit right-wing regimes typically turn out to be like Franco, Suharto, or Pinochet? They know from first-hand experience that the only way to keep leftists from subverting your society is to brutally repress them so they don’t get any kind of foothold within a nation’s social or cultural institutions.

What’s notable here is that these guys in particular weren’t couped out of office or overthrown in a revolution. Franco died while still charge, and the latter two resigned due to public pressure after several decades of relatively stable leadership.

At some point, if an actual right-winger takes charge, they are going to be a ruthless dictator who cleans house, and I mean down to the cathedral level. Universities will either stop teaching Marcusian liberation theology or be dissolved, any professors teaching it will be liquidated, campus activists will be sent out to the hinterlands to pick crops and do hard labor, and school boards will be provided with a nationalist curriculum that celebrates the country while damning dialecticism as a subversive, destructive ideology; the music and movie industry will be taxed to the bone for the privilege of distributing here; the Soros open borders types will have their assets frozen and their members’ citizenship and green cards revoked on the premise that anyone who says a country shouldn’t have borders is a traitor looking to bring the country down; neocon pundits will get Epstein’d; Big Tech will be dissolved down to the cubicle level under anti-trust pretenses, using the material on their own servers to damn them; journalists repeating Democratic talking points will be thrown in jail for violating campaign finance laws; psychologists and medical practitioners pushing gender fluidity, especially on kids, will get smacked with human trafficking and federal child abuse violations; corporations will be told to stop pushing woke shit and to bring their manufacturing out of China, or their businesses will be liquidated; the military will be told to focus on war rather than catering to woke shibboleths; the bureaucrats will be told to do their jobs properly or get thrown in jail for sabotage and treason.

The same cultural messaging and economic/social control apparatus the left is employing right now will get turned on them, and at full-blast. They know this, too, which is why even a gentle, milquetoast Cicero type like Romney is called evil and worse than Hitler.

          1. Why do left-wing regimes typically turn out like Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler, the Kims, Mugabe, Newsom and Biden?

            1. Because the left will never acknowledge their fallibility.
The left believes they can make the world into a utopia.

Since a real human made utopia is impossible, when the effort falls flat its face, the leftists figure it’s because some pesky group – usually a political opponent – was in the way, so that ‘road block’ must be eliminated.

Each time it fails another group gets labeled and eliminated. ….Lather, Rinse, Repeat.™

            2. Because the motivating force of leftism is resentment and misanthropy.

          2. I came a little

          3. That was beautiful. Every single thing is to be desired, although, at the end, we can’t forgive Romeny for inspiring Newsome’s hairdresser.

      2. I should add that the chestnut that we are a nation abstractly defined by ideals and principles, as opposed to others defined e.g. by historical ethnicity, has contributed to this. I had once quite liked it, as a fervent believer in those ideals and principles, not to mention a nonwhite immigrant. But now I see it does more harm than good. There’s been, of course, the perpetual war in the name of bringing “America” to the world. And we also see that “loyalty to ideals,” whether I would have liked it to be so or not, has in practice been too easily manipulated into “loyalty to institutions.” Even Germans at the height of their madness did not believe that the very idea of Germanness was literally inconceivable under a different form of government.

It’s all bunk. Americans are a specific polity. The Romans were multiethnic and they developed a strong sense of nationhood as any in history without resorting to this abstract mumbo jumbo.

        1. There’s been some speculation that the immigration moratorium that happened after the huge southern/eastern European migration in the late 1800s-early 1900s actually ended up benefitting the nation by allowing the new immigrants over a decade to assimilate to American culture without throwing a whole bunch of new immigrants into the mix. The result was an incredibly strong sense of civic nationalism that enabled the country to bind together to defeat the Axis during WW2, even from populations that had long been strongly discriminated against like blacks and Native Americans. That civic consensus is what kept things going up until JFK was killed, which traumatized the Boomers in particular so badly that they decided the country wasn’t worth celebrating anymore until Reagan took over (funny how such a social dynamic didn’t occur when other Presidents were killed).

          1. I’d say Vietnam is what made hating America what the cool kids did.

            1. When Boomers have fantasies about going back in time, it’s either 1) to kill Hitler as a kid, or
              2) to stop JFK from being killed.

None of them dream of stopping LBJ from expanding our military operations.

              1. Stopping Kennedy from being killed would of stopped LBJ from becoming President, so it’s two birds with one stone.

              2. If JFK weren’t killed, LBJ would never have had the chance to expand our military operations.

                1. Anyone who thinks JFK was a pacifist is kidding themselves. Boomer liberals have been telling themselves that lie for decades as a coping mechanism for LBJ doing what JFK would have done.

              3. I’m a boomer. If I could go back we’d be talking about the two terms of president Goldwater.

              4. Really? Is that what my fellow Boomers would do?

Gee…I’m kind of embarrassed. I would go back and refrain from taking so many speeders I couldn’t properly screw those sisters at that kegger in South Willow Canyon.

I should set my goals higher, eh?

            2. I’d say Vietnam is what made hating America what the cool kids did.

That would be because you are almost completely ignorant of history. Engaging with underground Marxist movements to piss off their parents is what made hating America the favorite past-time of the self-hating children of the elite. Only the stupid and drug addled ever thought they were the cool kids.

              1. The “cool kids” part should of been in quotes.

Everyone’s a Marxist to you Mormons.

              2. And I realize many in the anti-war movement were actual Marxists.
My point still stands. Anyone to the left of joining your church or being discriminated against is a Marxist.

                1. God you’re such a dumbass leftie. You don’t see that many of us are anti war and yet you throw us under the bus to satisfy your far left wing religious god.

                  Eat shit.

                  1. What are you talking about? How am I throwing you under the bus?

                    “Far left religious god.”

                    What god? I’m agnostic.

                    1. It’s always been clear to me you’re agnostic.

I’m curious what lead you to that conclusion about religion?

            3. “Cool kids.’ Right. Self-described as such, but nice to see you’ve taken it hook, line and sinker.

    4. That’s how applied post-modernism works. It creates ever finer “class” divisions, constantly identifying new classes of “oppressed”, new marginalized categories etc. That’s the point of the game.

    5. I’m shocked Reason is not covering Biden’s demand for uniform agreement with him in order to be in the US armed forces military colleges. They are all overseen by a Board of Visitors who basically oversee the colleges.

Biden suspended all of the boards almost immediately upon office and is now demanding every member who does not agree with him to resign or be terminated. He, mind you, has no power to do this at all.

This is the action of a dictator and one that might need to be met with some rather harsh counters.

      1. Harsh counters indeed.

Also, I’m waiting to hear who is really masterminding this shit. The whole “taking over the military” is too evil and complex for Biden to have come up with. I doubt he even understands the significance of “loyalty oaths” for the military (other than to the Constitution).

So who’s got their hand up the puppets’ wrinkly ass?

  4. “Compliance is optional”, said the commissar. “But then you will be imprisoned”

    1. “Compliance is optional”, said the commissar. “But then you will be imprisoned”

“I give you free will,” God says to His people. “But if you exercise it, I’ll torture you in Hell for all eternity…”

works that way for all the bossmen…

      1. There is free will to do what is right. And that bitch ain’t god, or my boss.

      2. As if I needed further proof that fascists view the government as a god.

      3. Check Romans, dipshit. God pointed out all the shit the Romans were doing (decadent even by Hollywood standards), and did he torture them? No.

Rom 1:24 (NLT) “So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired.”
1:26 “That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires.”
1:28 (ESV) “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.”

Yeah, God’s cruelty is shown in how he allows people to just people all over the place, much as he punishes you by allowing you to post without let or hindrance. Seems almost spiteful, but you COULD opt not to post. Or not to post stupid shit.

  5. I was going to ask what “legal scholar” Jeffrey Toobin was doing while she said this, but I think we can all guess…

    1. I heard that he’s pulling for her.

      1. Well, her words really moved him. Eventually he even choked up a bit.

        1. “Eventually he even choked up a bit.”

          Him … or his chicken?

    2. She was going to help him with his new work, but he said he would handle it himself.

      1. He’s very hands on. Doesn’t like to lose touch.

  6. Why not just kill them?

I mean that’s where all leftists roads lead to eventually. It’s why you must never support a single gun control measure, ever. Just look at what they did last year

    1. Socialism 100,000,000 dead people can’t be wrong.

  7. Dr. Wen is absolutely fantastic. Planned Parenthood messed up by letting her go.

    #MyBodyMyChoice
    #(Sometimes)

    1. When a body with a 100 year history of aborting and sterilizing blacks and “other undesirables” thinks that you’re a fanatic, wow.

    2. Really? Over 20 million black babies aborted since Roe v Wade. If this is ‘fantastic,’ I think we should start killing the ‘unvaccinated’ according to yours and communist Dr. Wen. Does anyone not understand our Constitution or freedoms anymore? You wish for elected representatives to punish, jail, or restrict others freedoms that you don’t agree with now, but wait until it you!! This was never the American way. We have always disagreed, went to way to unite a country, and used our unbiased courts to challenge things we thought were unlawful. Now it’s all opinions. And how to we have Supreme Court judges that take sides? Are they not just there to interpret the laws of the Constitution instead of their feelings? This is not how a country can stay strong. We demonize, and call those we don’t agree with, names and try to silence them. This is childish.

      1. OBL is a parody. Enjoy the humor.

        1. But the best part is that when OBL is really on, it’s indistinguishable from the actual left.

      2. The unvaccinated are just clumps of cells.

        1. Indeed, I’ve never seen a Supreme Court ruling that says that they’re persons.

      3. The ole “I can’t be racist! I care about blacks getting abortions!”

        1. Fuck off, anti-semite.

          1. Cite me being anti Semitic or stop calling me it please.

            1. 2 more flags for the asshole

            2. Your post explaining it means you are.

              1. If you can cite me being anti Semitic I’ll quit posting.

                ML is a liar.

  8. She’s clearly insane or a fraud, but who cares. Sociopaths like this (professor/commentator/CNNbuffoon) are a dime a dozen and obviously don’t understand the law, nor the impossibility of locking up innocent people in a nation with 400 million firearms.

Mostly I just laughed at her idiocy, would throw eggs at her stupid face, and go about my day. Of course, I’ll have to ask the question why did the democrat party go about locking up Japanese American citizens decades ago, admit they were wrong (mostly) and now claim a tiny virus is more dangerous than the threat of insurgency. Their logic fails them often.

The solution. Do not comply, and punch back twice as hard.

    1. She can’t be insane. She’s a GWU professor and WaPost contributor!

Oh, I see your point now.

    2. She’s clearly insane or a fraud, but who cares.

It’s a big deal because this bitch is part of the elite and is parroting their views. Between her and Biden, the left is clearly trying to kick off a civil war where they think they’ll finally be able to drone strike Billy Bob like they’ve always wanted to do.

      1. I’ve been watching this kind of shitshow for some time now and I keep coming around to the idea that every time they announce some level of lunacy, they immediately send out The Borg to:

A] run up a trial balloon, test the waters to see how much farther the left constituency will support
B] Throw another bone out there much farther in an effort to make everyone else say, “well at least the left didn’t go THAT far” and make the official absurdity sound more reasonable.

      2. I don’t think they’re trying to start a civil war, at least not consciously. I think they feel like they’ve already won, and are just rubbing their enemies’ faces in it and sacking their homes.

        1. What does “river to the sea” mean?

Or are you just being cryptic to hide what a giant pussy you’re?

When have I libeled or lied about you?

          1. In that post. You know exactly what you’re implying with “river to the sea”.

            1. No. Nardz said that to me and I don’t know what he meant?

              1. Asshole’s racking ’em up

              2. So you admit you’re very ignorant.

                1. One of the rare cases when he tells the truth.

                2. I’m not up on the latest alt right, Qanon, and boogaloo jargon.

                  Please enlighten me?

                  1. You mean BlueAnon. QAnon is just an imaginary bogeyman that the New York Times uses to frighten gullible wine moms.

                    1. Tell that to the people wearing Q shirts at Trump rallies.

“BlueAnon” is just some bs the traitor Trump followers came up with to deflect from their treason.

Your welcome for me enlightening you.

                    2. “Qshirts”
                      QAnon sells official t-shirts?
Is this like the time CNN wrote an article on how Ted Cruz wore a QAnon pin, that they had to retract because it turned out to be a Doritos crumb?

I have an old batman t-shirt by the way. I guess I’m the motherfucking batman.

        2. They are fighting a war of words. If we let their words disarm us then we are defeated. It will take action or complete noncompliance to beat them.

    3. “Clearly insane or a fraud” ….Ate you one of those fringe nut jobs who thinks Dr Phil isn’t really a doctor?

      1. Tchyuh! Probably thinks Bill Nye didn’t win the Nobel Prize for Science-ish Stuff.

    4. Are we surprised? You could see the sociopaths here and on left wing twitter calling for this stuff from go. Dont let the unvax participate in society, deny them medical care, let them die.

It didnt take long for CNN guests, hosts (Don Lemon) and late night (Kimmel) to parrot the same stuff to the sound of crowds cheering.

There’s a lot of “mark of the beast” parallels that are getting very creepy with these people. I thought they were supposed to be the science loving, religion haters, but here we are with secular atheist cultists.

  9. “I think we really need to make it clear that there are privileges associated with being an American,” said Wen.”

Rights are not privileges granted to us by government. Rights are the obligation to respect our choices, and they arise naturally from our agency–just like morality itself.

When individuals violate their obligation to respect other people’s choices, we call it things like “rape”, “theft”, or other words for crime, but when the government fails to respect our right to make choices for ourselves, the proper term is “injustice”.

What we’re seeing here is worse than that. When someone openly advocates violating our rights in the name of their vision of the common good, we can call it authoritarianism or we can call it progressivism, but what we’re really talking about is evil.

It’s one thing to shrug our shoulders at injustice. It’s quite another to openly advocate it.

    1. Rights are the obligation to respect our choices, and they arise naturally from our agency–just like morality itself.

really…? there have been numerous societies throughout human history whose ‘morality’ exhibited no inclination to respect peoples’ choices; in fact, that is by far the default governing position…and as far as arising naturally, what good is a natural ‘obligation to respect’ if those who make the laws choose to ignore it…?

      1. So what exactly is your point? That because historically humans didn’t respect one another’s rights, we ought not do so today?

There is a diametric opposition between the notion that we live at the privilege of our government vs the government living at the privilege of our consent. The latter view required a very logical and clear understanding of natural rights, and was key to the founding of this nation.

It’s fine if you don’t subscribe to that notion of natural rights, but then you are- like most governments of history- pretty much an authoritarian if not a totalitarian, so in general the appropriate response is to ignore you as a historical relic.

      2. “really…? there have been numerous societies throughout human history whose ‘morality’ exhibited no inclination to respect peoples’ choices”

        Glad you pointed this out.

Morality arises from agency because without the ability to make choices, there can be no morality. Morality means to make the ethical choice, to have chosen between right and wrong. And so, without agency–the ability to make choices for ourselves–there can be no morality. You are not responsible for killing in self-defense because as far as anyone else can tell, you had no choice but to defend yourself, and society has an obligation to respect your choice to live.

More specifically, if you hit me in the head with a hammer for disagreeing with you, it’s you–not the hammer–that’s acting immorally. Hammers are inanimate objects that can’t make choices. You, on the other hand, have agency. You can make choices, and because you can make choices, you can choose to act immorally. Without the ability to make choices, there would be no morality.

Meanwhile, hitting a nail on the head with a hammer isn’t an immoral act–because nails are inanimate objects without the ability to make choices, you are not morally obligated to respect their choices. Ken Shultz, on the other hand, is a person with agency, and because he has agency, you are morally obligated to respect his right to make choices for himself. That moral obligation to respect other people’s choices is what we’re talking about when we talk about “rights”–and they do NOT come from government. They arise naturally as an aspect of agency–like morality itself.

Because the government violates our rights, however, does not mean that our rights don’t exist. Hannah Ardent argued that everything Eichman did to perpetrate the holocaust was perfectly legal in Nazi Germany. Who would argue that the victims of the holocaust had no absolutely zero rights–just because the government said so? The Nazi government was wrong about that, and they behaved unethically. Because some governments systematically and routinely violate our most basic rights doesn’t mean our rights (the obligation to respect our choices) doesn’t exist. It simply means that the government is unjust.

Using the government to forcibly vaccinate people against their will is a violation of their rights–whether the government says so or not. It’s also fundamentally immoral because it violates our obligation to respect each other’s choices. What this woman is advocating is both a violation of millions of Americans’ rights, and it’s fundamentally immoral in the most basic way. She has an obligation to respect the agency of other people, and she is openly advocating the violation of that obligation. This is what it means to violate someone’s rights.

        1. Ken, you were doing so well until the last paragraph. Our rights end when they violate others, and fouling our nest is a violation of all others by those willfully failing to either be vaccinated or isolate them selves. An even higher right is that of survival, and any society unable to take the simple, obvious, and benign steps to do that, as you are asking us to do in this situation, is probably too unwell to survive.

  10. no no is opposite. if afraid because of outside, stay in.

  11. Tortured analogy ( drunk drivers =unvaccinated) indeed. She’s presupposing that unvaccinated ARE Covid positive. Huh?

More to the point, dangerous ideas as groupthink are a worse assault upon the masses, and thus CNN agitprop types ought to stay home and stfu.

    1. She’s also supposing that the 40M actual covid US survivors are an equal threat as the “unvaxxed” despite concrete science to the contrary. That’s a full 12% of the population that she categorizes for her own tyrannical wet dream.

It also negates the lack of threat posed by those who work for companies over 100, from home. They are to drive into the office weekly to get tested? Ridiculous and stupid on its face.

Stupidity on any television station purportedly trying to be serious used to have enough gravity attached to it that it would hurt. Comments like this would have never made it to air, or if they did, the host had enough sense to cut it off and that person lost was never seen again. Ask Dick Morris after the 2012 election. Unlike this bitch, he wasn’t advocating enslaving people for their personal choices.

    2. She’s just another disposable useful idiot…but that doesn’t make her not dangerous.

  12. We need to start looking at the choice to remain unvaccinated the same as we look at driving while intoxicated

So if you’re unvaxxed, you might carry covid, you might not be. Thus you should be welded into your home.

By this logic, if you’re a casual drinker, should you be banned from driving a car?

    1. If you even own any liquor you should be banned from cars, as driver or passenger.

    2. cars should have been banned in the 1995 budget agreement.

      1. Oh great, another tree hugger…

        1. /s but yes I like trees

    3. What she is actually trying to say is that the unvaccinated should be treated like criminals.

      1. Fake news – criminals have rights. The unvaxxed don’t.

        1. Depends which criminals. Crime criminals have rights, political criminals don’t.

          1. But that also depends on the politics of the political criminals.

    4. No, banned from leaving the house, because if that’s her analogy, then I’m prepared to play her analogy game as a full-contact sport. Just like your gender pronoun game.

  13. CCP plant.

    1. She’s out there trying to sound more outrageous in an attempt to make Biden look reasonable. – – – – – and providing a necessary distraction from Afghanistan.

Notice that there’s not one article written today on Reason regarding the unconscionable actions of leaving citizens or a $83B shitload of sophisticated weapons in the hands of the enemy, let alone the new Taliban demands for $9B in currency. What Ida could not do has been done with last night’s news conference. Twelve days later, the page has been turned and “we will not forget” has been forgotten.

In a Tiktok world, America by and large has the attention span of a moth.

    2. CCP plant

I had some creeping red menace on my front lawn. A little weed-b-gon took care of it.

      1. Flamethrowers work well.

    3. Wen in Beijing…

  14. Risk, like harassment, must be viewed only from the (potential) victims perspective. And their emotional judgment is the only factor to determine the severity of actions to take against the oppressor.

    (Am I doing this right?)

  15. Leana Wen is shouting “Fire” in a crowded theatre. This is incitement of imminent lawless action.

    1. I see you’re no fan of the first amendment. What she and the majority of the shitheads on cable news say is stupid, but I’m against fascists like you silencing them.

      1. Hey, Herr Goebbels.
Shouting “Fire” in a crowded theatre is exactly what she is doing, do you deny that? Now tell us how pointing that out is anti-First Amendment.

        1. How is she causing danger to anyone? She’s not a politician or anything? Suggesting this BS isn’t harming anyone.

Please cite me being anti Semitic or stop accusing me of it.

          1. “She’s not a politician or anything

“Wen is… professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, a Washington Post columnist, the former president of Planned Parenthood, and a medical analyst for CNN.”

You suck at this, Buttplug. If I were your boss at the fifty-cent factory, I’d can your ass.

            1. So now I’m buttplug? I’m not Sarc anymore?

By comparing what she’s saying to yelling fire in a crowded theatre you’re advocating she be silenced.
You fascists complain about social media “censoring” you, but you’re all for it as long as it suits you.

              1. Oh the former anti war buttplug sock is now the fascist.

Figures. Get right or get bent you piece of shit.

                1. What crawled up your butt seat belt?

              2. By comparing what she’s saying to yelling fire in a crowded theatre you’re advocating she be silenced.

I never said anything of the sort, you lying sack-of-shit.
You’re trying to manufacture some sort of inference, but everyone here (except for you apparently) is familiar with the libertarian arguments surrounding the concept of incitement of imminent lawless action, and can read my comment a few inches up.

I bet you really wish that they had assigned you to some sort of retard-factory like Huffpo or Salon, huh. This place is slightly above your pay grade.

  16. ‘Leana Wen is a visiting professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, a Washington Post columnist, the former president of Planned Parenthood, and a medical analyst for CNN. ”

Is ALL you needed to say to indicate that the rest will be Prog/Authoritative Bullshit.

  17. When the revolution comes, they ought to hang this bitch on day one.

    1. In handcuffs, from a hook through the mandible.

      1. Gonna be a busy, but happy, day.

  18. I thought maybe Dr. Wen being born Chinese might contribute to her beliefs, but now I’m not so sure that she might not be German.

    1. If by German you mean Nazi, the Chinese might have them beat on the authoritarianism aspect. Mostly because modern propaganda tools make it way easier to export the big lie.

I may be wrong, though. I mean, Uighers are probably getting excellent job training and very happy to be in those camps. So happy they have to have fences and guards to… keep people out. Yeah.

    2. Wonder how she would like a mass emailing campaign of Tank Man pics.

    3. Chiba is run based on German ideology.

  19. Someone could deep fake her face into Trump and distribute the video online and it would earn the righteous outrage of the hapless TDS crowd.

This insane woman should not be taken seriously by anyone. I’m Asian and I heartily approve of some Proud Boys pissing on her grave.

We all knew the liberty is valuable to the left insofar as it benefits collectivism and empowerment of disparate identities. But do these people realize how insane their mandate lunacy sounds? People are unvaccinated by NATURE. And the vaccinated will eventually become unvaccinated. If you allow the government unvaccinated people as disease carriers and craft policy on that, the slippery slope is enormous.

According to these (again) insane people, afghan refugees who refuse the vax should just be confined to military bases for the rest of their natural lives and forbidden to participate in civil society. We can deny citizenship to anyone who refuses to get the jab. And companies and schools can just impose vaccination requirement for the common flu, H1N1, and Sars and Mers and etc in the name of public health.

Were you ever fucking arrested ever in your life because you spread germs on someone? I got bit by the flu 2019 and it was possibly covid. Some guy who breathed the germ on me at Walmart is now effectively a criminal in the pandemic era.

The insane woman says unvaxxed people have no right to travel inside your their own motherfucking country, but migrants have the human right to cross our borders and apply for citizenship. Well, fuck you, you fucking piece of slime.

    1. Now careful! When you assert that the human system will revert to its natural state, you’re voicing a truth that has been demonized for years because the same is said about the trans who say that they have “actually transitioned”. Pointing out the factually obvious is not allowed if it isn’t within the borders of that which is allowed by the righteous. We are what we tell people we are, biology aside… unless of course you identify as vaccinated.

  20. the unvaccinated do not actually pose much of a risk to the vaccinated

Unless they are Covid positive they don’t pose a risk to anyone.

Can this worthless bitch point to anything she has said previously about institutionalizing people infected with mildly lethal contagions?

For a group of people so adamant about mask mandates they sure seem to enjoy letting their own slip.

    1. “Unless they are Covid positive…”

Which could happen at any time, unpredictably.

      1. Even the fully vaccinated can become infected and spread the disease. They are called breakthrough cases. Therefore no one should be allowed to leave home.

        1. Look at the very first comment on this article:

          https://reason.com/2021/09/10/cnn-leana-wen-unvaccinated-travel-outdoor-ban/#comment-9095806

Have I said anything in support of Leana Wen’s crazy ideas? No, I have not.

Now, that that’s out of the way, they are called “breakthrough” cases because they are infrequent relative to cases among the unvaccinated. My point stands, regardless: one does not know at any time that one does not have an active COVID infection.

          1. they are called “breakthrough” cases because they are infrequent relative to cases among the unvaccinated

My healthy vaccinated wife got COVID exactly on schedule relative to when I did. She also got over it faster with fewer symptoms, but anybody saying cases among the vaccinated are infrequent is full of shit.

one does not know at any time that one does not have an active COVID infection

And it is even less obvious in the vaccinated. Weld those fuckers in their houses!

          2. they are called “breakthrough” cases because they are infrequent relative to cases among the unvaccinated

That’s not why that terminology is used at all. And in point of fact, in Israel the majority of new cases are among those fully vaccinated. Would you care to lie about anything else and have me break it off in your asshole for you, or will that be all?

            1. Did I say that’s why that terminology is used at all? No, I did not.

Now that that’s out of the way, the Latin origin of vaccine didn’t have anything to do with making you immune from any viruses. It meant you could fight off the evil spirits that made you sick. It wasn’t until recently that we changed it to what we currently think it means.

              1. The word “vaccine” derives from the Latin word “vaccinus”, meaning “ related to cows”, because the original vaccine was developed with cow pox (variolae vaccinae).

That is basic historical knowledge; what kind of ignorant moron are you?

                1. It’s a parody so good, you think it’s actually White Mike.

                  It almost caught me too.

        2. He knows this. He has been told this 1000 times, and he ignores it every time.

Arguing with Mike is arguing with someone who will never take responsibility for what he says. In fact, within days he will be acting as if he never said these things in the first place. He is a completely disingenuous adversary and you would do better arguing with the main character from Memento.

          https://reason.com/2021/09/09/california-is-set-to-outlaw-unannounced-condom-removal/#comment-9091773

          1. There are quite a few people here who just aren’t worth responding to at all.

      2. Wait. Are you admitting the vaccine isnt as protective as you’ve been claiming?

        1. Think of the vaccine as more of a religious rite and it will all make sense.

          1. Weekly jabs and an Our Fauci?

        2. It means the vaccinated could be carriers. And really should be locked indoors.

    2. Clearly the HIV+ should be welded in as well.

  21. How many people are watching Fredo’s program?

  22. Come on Robby, to back up your “in recent weeks – 99%” comment you point to a news article from 7 weeks ago…that is counting unvaccinated outcomes to the beginning of the year when most people couldn’t get the vaccine.

What it definetly doesn’t cover is “recent weeks” when most of the areas began seeing a rise in cases.

    1. Yeah, an old link is probably poor. It’s still mostly true, so why fudge it? Get us something fresh and your point is still made.

I can tell you numbers from Aug 1 to now from my community. I looked yesterday.

The hospitalization rate for unvaccinated who contracted covid is 48 times the rate for vaxxed. It’s a massive difference. The death rate is less dramatic sounding, but that’s because there aren’t that many hospitalizations and deaths, but 9% were vaccinated. numbers were around 20 to 210 if I remember right. All but one of those vaxxed were with comorbidities, the outlier was “unknown” when I saw the data. The hospitalization numbers are with covid not of, but I don’t know which the deaths is.

Overall, in the recent surge (the last couple of weeks of data, so second half of August, just after the peak, to labor day), 85% of all deaths were with comorbidities.

So, make of it what you will. But you’re right. August was our peak, today’s number here is half what we saw in mid-late August, and numbers like this are available everywhere. So quoting 7 week old data is chickenshit.

      1. How many of the hospitalizations required a stay and weren’t just a return to home visit?

  23. Let’s be honest – almost every person on the left, especially the elite, believes this.

Look at the attacks on Glen Greenwald (one of the few who doesn’t), they’ve been particularly vitriolic because he’s basically a heretic

    1. He is a heretic in a lot more than this. His leftism does not twist and turn to satsify whatever collegiate-radical edict is supposed to animate the elite class’s controlled opposition at the moment. Back in the day when they took their marching orders from Moscow, he’d probably have been one of those assholes asking questions about switching from anti- to pro-Nazi and back again; now that they take their orders from the people who roomed with the corporate class in college, he’s being equally a nuisance.

      1. Greenwald is a liberal. Not a liberal as in what people call a democrat as a general pejorative, a liberal in that he believes in free speech, he believes in a free press, he believes in checks on government.

Thankfully he’s found a great outlet for the moment. He should be making bank, and he is. Very few other people are so good at pointing out that the snotty little millennial tattletales who cry when he picks on them are not victims in any sense.

He and I don’t agree on a lot of politics, but liberal values of free speech and personal liberty are independent of all that nonsense.

  24. We need to start looking at the choice to remain unvaccinated the same as we look at driving while intoxicated

We need to start looking at the choice to violate people’s civil rights as an offense that is punishable with prison sentences.

    1. As a threat to the nation itself. An Insurrection, if you will.

    2. You big old softie, you…

Nooses are cheaper than prison cells. And reusable, so they’re even environmentally friendly!

      1. Found the fed

        1. For advocating that the legal penalty for such actions be capital, by hanging? Nonsense. If I was a fed I’d be advocating extrajudicial punishment.

    3. Screw prison sentence, execution. People like this are pure evil totalitarians and don’t deserve a shred of mercy or being treated remotely humanely. And I increasingly think that about most leftists who instead of having buyers remorse about the terrifying slippery slope they’ve created over the years think people like this bitch are right.

  25. Lena Wen should not be allowed to leave her home. She can be Lena Wen if she wants – but then she can’t go out in public.

    1. Hey, as Malice pointed out the Left seems to have done it to Linda Sarsour just fine. Then again, perhaps even they couldn’t stand looking at that mug one more time.

  26. Homes are too spread out. Enforcement will be impossible. Perhaps if we were to concentrate them in some kind of camp where they can be watched until we come up with a final solution to the Unvaccinated Problem.

  27. Hey lady! Fuck you!

    1. Awwww. He is overcompensating now for being called out for weeks. Lol.

You finally realize your rights are being violated. Good job buddy.

    2. Which part was too much for you sarcasmic? Inquiring minds want to know…

  28. Scapegoating a group of people. When has that ended well?

    Also, fuck off.

  29. But requiring people to show ID when voting – that’s “Jim Crow on steroids”.

And moving the MLB All-Star game from a predominately Black city to one of the whitest cities in the country is all about “racial justice” (or something)

Honestly, being a modern progressive means living in a state of perpetual cognitive dissonance.

    1. War is peace, freedom is slavery, etc.

    2. I gather that once you renounce the use of reason, it all goes down pretty smoothly.

  30. The soave kid fails to acknowledge that the willfully unvaccinated make the same argument. They’ll say that if the vaccinated want to mitigate the risk of exposure to the willyfully unvaccinated, the vaccinated should just stay at home instead of going out into public places.

Soave also fails to acknowledge that there are a significant number of unwillfully unvaccinated. These people are not victims of their own bad choices. To use Soave’s seat belt analogy, the unwillfully unvaccinated are not just fellow unbelted travelers, they can’t fasten their seat belt, as much as they might like to. But the willfully unvaccinated will say that the unwillfully unvaccinated should just stay at home too.

Soave also says “the unvaccinated do not actually pose much of a risk to the vaccinated”. This statement only considers direct risk. If the willfully unvaccinated spread disease while out in public, whether it be shopping, working, or attending school, there will invariably be closures of those places and/or quarantines of the vaccinated. That’s why various large corporations have just announced that they are voluntarily delaying reopening of offices until next year. Further indirect effect the willfully unvaccinated have on the vaccinated are the unavailability of ICU beds and various outpatient procedures.

Since both sides argue that the other should just stay at home, the question should be does either side have a better argument in so far as reducing overall daily infection and death rates.

    1. some of those “willfully unvaccinated” are people who have had covid and, as such, some natural immunity. And none of them are demanding the govt force the vaccinated to do anything, including staying home. There is nothing coercive about throwing their ridiculous argument back at them.

We get it. Should this country follow Australia and build quarantine camps, you’re applying for a job as a guard. Leana Wen applauds you.

does either side have a better argument in so far as reducing overall daily infection and death rates.
Yes, let this variant do like it has done it a few places and await the crash in numbers that follows the spike. The 7-day average has dropped: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covidview/index.html
Data from India and the UK suggest this is the pattern. You can stop panicking.

      1. At least in the UK, critical to the decline are “high vaccination rates”.

        https://www.wsj.com/articles/fresh-u-k-covid-19-data-boosts-hopes-that-delta-variant-can-be-held-in-check-11628674201

But now, that downward trend has leveled off, and in some cases increased, as vacation rates dipped again.

        https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-58385043

        1. How can “vaccination rates dip”? Are people becoming UNvaccinated who once were clean?

    2. Irrelevant because the government doesn’t have the power to compel you to stay home since no laws were broken, and no laws exist to confine unvaccinated people.

That’s why the Biden admin is pushing this because they are hoping corporations (“private companies”) will knuckle under to them due to threats of fines.

This will backfire at the ballot box.

In any case this Wen person has no expertise in the law or epidemiology and therefore cannot express a cogent opinion. CNN is agitprop from the federal government which has been known for a long time. Putting some big government vomiting schmuck on TV has been their performative art for years.

      1. C’mon, man. She’s a DOCTOR. Maybe not a real doctor, like DOCTOR Jill, but still someone better than you that you need to respect.

    3. The soave kid fails to acknowledge that the willfully unvaccinated make the same argument. They’ll say that if the vaccinated want to mitigate the risk of exposure to the willyfully unvaccinated, the vaccinated should just stay at home instead of going out into public places.

Exactly zero people have explained to me why the vaccinated are afraid of the unvaccinated.

I mean, I know… the CDC recently updated (because the science involved in a major way last Sunday, it’s perfectly normal!) their definition of vaccine that matches something close to what Ibuprofen is: a temporary symptom mitigation serum…

But anyhoo, I’m vaccinated, I have zero fear of the unvaccinated.

      1. Well, I have some very minimal fear, but then I don’t ask other people to live for my sake.

      2. To be afraid of an unvaccinated person, the vaccinated have to believe that this ‘anti-vaxxer’ avoided the bug for 19 months but now has it and is spreading it asymptomatically.

        There’s not much logic there.

    4. “The soave kid fails to acknowledge that the willfully unvaccinated make the same argument. They’ll say that if the vaccinated want to mitigate the risk of exposure to the willyfully unvaccinated, the vaccinated should just stay at home instead of going out into public places.”

You are extremely wrong. They will say that there is no moral obligation to stick needles in your arm to protect someone else from a natural threat. And they will be right.

A virus is an act of nature. It is not my fault. I didn’t cause it. It is doing what viruses have been doing for a billion years. Part of being a responsible adult and a citizen of this planet means taking care to protect yourself from nature. That means feeding, clothing, and sheltering yourself. You of course have every right to do some work, earn some money, and pay other people to do those things on your behalf.

You do NOT have the right to demand that I feed, clothe, shelter or otherwise protect you from nature. Thats on you and extends to jabbing myself with chemicals to protect you from a virus. Take care of yourself. If I happen to give you, out of charity, a hand out, you should be grateful. You didn’t earn it, it was a gift.

      1. We don’t force people to drive no faster than 15 mph in order to reduce risks. Yet here we ask healthy people for performance actions for a false sense of safety.

      2. Hell, in many ways, this virus is the fault of the government who funded Chinese scientists intentionally making it worse.

  31. A substantial number of Americans are unvaccinated because they cannot receive the vaccine for medical reasons. I have a very good friend who went into anaphylactic shock after receiving the first Moderna vaccine. Her doctors expressly prohibited her from even fantasizing about receiving the second shot. Would this public health moron restrict my friend to her house for the rest of her life?

    1. I’m guessing your friend would have a medical exemption and would be required to show that just as a vaccinated person would show their CDC proof of vaccine card.

The problem is that this is an ethical question, less one of the technical ins and outs of how they would enforce it.

    2. “Confined to her house? Of course, if one is unvaccinated for any reason, they could be filthy carriers and kill my kids. Too bad for them that they can’t be vaccinated; that’s the price you pay for living in a community where the majority decides what rights and privileges the unwashed and untutored have!”

  32. “former president of Planned Parenthood”

In a rational world she would be facing human-rights charges in front of some tribunal, not getting a platform to urge punishment of other Americans.

  33. Is anyone going to point out that the public health apparatus here in America, were completely caught off guard by the virus. Were hyper focused on vaping. And have subsequently completely screwed up the response by ignoring science.
I’ll assume no but I think this is why these idiots say crazy ass stuff. It takes the light off of them.

    1. They already went back to guns and racism as public health crisis this year.

  34. Comparing the vaccine to alcohol is very irresponsible. First question Ms. Wen, are any other vaccines mandated, No! After getting the covid-19 vaccine, does it prevent other variances, No! Are we going to start making a mandatory vaccine for HIV/AIDS, No! How about the Black Plague, are you listening to yourself at all?! This lady is as cooky as the president. Forcing people to stay home because they choose not to inject themselves with chemicals, because last time I checked, the items in the vaccines are not all-natural like they all grow on a tree and you can just pick them and ingest them. Traveling is not a privilege, next thing her and biden will be saying, kick all the natural-born citizens out of the country, SERIOUSLY!!!! These mandates are ridiculous and most people know it. We have been dealing with corona viruses every year since at least 1900. We get the flu EVERY winter season no matter what state we are in and that regular flu can have a ton of variants, we don’t make and demand vaccines every year, why, because the flu is something we have always learned to live with, it is only extremely important to 2019 because they wanted trump out of office. The fact that this was man-made in a lab doesn’t strike any of you as odd, that’s what shocks me!! Say what you want to say, I’m still not getting the vaccine, even if i were the last person on the US to not be vaccinated, I still wouldn’t get it, and if I were the only person immune to the virus I definitely wouldn’t allow a single doctor to test my dna, blood, or anything about me to help out the human race, it makes me sick to think that people are willing to walk all over others to get their way by scaring people into submission, when all they had to do in the beginning was ask but now they’ve lied so much and they still want us to trust, NOPE!!!!

  35. I hear a credible threat to do violence against a large portion of the population.

    1. Not just to the population, but to the very core of our nation. You could almost call this an Insurrection.

  36. Leana Wen is a visiting professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, a Washington Post columnist, the former president of Planned Parenthood, and a medical analyst for CNN

Technically, it’s your body, your choice. But just don’t leave the house with that clump of cells.

  37. Hint: This is what happens when the establishment gets emboldened after 18 months of near-zero pushback, except from MAGA hats, who don’t count anyway.

  38. Leana Wen: my nomination for the Idiot of the Week award. The voting will be close, however, with oh-so-many deserving nominees.

  39. “I wish he had also announced some type of proof of vaccination,” she said. “It’s so easy to counterfeit. We don’t allow this to board an airplane, right? You don’t go to the [Travel Security Administration (TSA)] checkpoint and say I am who I say I am, here’s a piece of paper where I wrote my name.”

Whoa there, spinach chin, now do voting.

  40. Leana, wen you get the courage come and make me.

  41. Lepers of the USA, Unite!

I had and fought off the virus while the CDC was figuring out the equity of vaccinations… just because I’m in a group at risk (65+, a comorbidity too) meant I could die (10%?), but what’s another dead old white guy. OK, so young folks in public employ went to the front of the line, and I got the virus after hiding from it and life in general for a bloody year.

Now I have immunity. Better than the vaxxed do.

Take the vaxx to India or Africa. They need it and I don’t.

    1. no they don’t need the shots in India. They have ivermectin and CHQ, and USE them well. Two things they will NOT let us use here, right?

So it is about something rather “other” than keeping people hearlthy, which is NOT amongst any of the duties and tasks and functions of government. WHO appointed them my Mama?

  42. Fyi, in her comments she indicated “interstate travel is not a constitutional right”. She couches it with ‘boarding a plane’…

  43. Does anyone else get a kick out of all the “9/11 Security State Expansionsss!” drama bullshit coming out of the media right now… while they’re all nodding furiously about a vaccine mandate and locking down interstate travel as a non-constitutional privilege?

Journalists can really be mendacious little cunts, no?

    1. I’m not convinced they are journalists. Maybe a payed CCP propaganda agency?

    2. Journalists are basically *required* to be mendacious little cunts.

  44. This tyrannical monster should be living in China and not in the US.

    1. I dunno – not far off droolin’ Joe.

  45. Wen should not be allowed to leave home, let alone open her mouth and allow ignorance to come pouring forth.
Another Washington, D.C. grifter like Fauci.
Privileges of being an American? Really? Are you serious?
Girl, you are out of your league. Now go home and make me a samich.

  46. As I read throughher bona fides and curriculum vitae and connexions, I was forming strong sense of what she would say, her values, and twisted perspctive.I as not disappointed as I read her drivel.

She forgets this point: we are a NATION OF LAWS, and there is only one political entity that is tasked with or allowd to “make law’, and Joe Bidn ain’t that entity. Nor is she, nor anyone at the CDC, TSa, or any other such organsation. Only CONGRESS can “make law”.

That settled, she’s got some homework to do.

When da gummit declares that I cannot even leave my house if I don’t jig to their fiddle, they are INFRINGING on my right to freely associate, travel by an means, time, place I choose, put or not put whater I WANT into my body. She’s got the data backwards about the umbersof injected versus not injcted going into hospital. EVERY such report I’ve been able to find has the injected ones in hospital, presenting serious ife threatening symptoms, not responding to the bogus treatments they are forcing on them, denying them the ones that WORK. Same in Israel,

She also fails to mention that the original Pfizer shot is stil the ONLY ONE available here in the US< and the EUA was renewed as part of that bait and switcheroo move CDC made last week. They DID give full approval to the BioNTech product, made in GErmany, but that is a DIFFERENT shot than anything availble here in the US. To FORCE or coerce or pressure anyone to accept a medical proceedure that is ONLY being distributed under an EUA is against boeht federal and international law. Does she even KNOW that? Of course not. WHY? Cuz she's got those peas inside her silly haid all lined up the way SHE wants them, which does not reflect reality.

Someone send HER back to from where she came. They can always use another skilled prevaricator there. Check out her bona fides, background, CV, etc. She shuld NOT be given a voice.

    1. When I look at her, all I see is a clump of cells.

  47. People like YOU, that spout BS should have their mouths sewn shut to let their BROKEN jaws heal?…IMO

    1. BTW, I stopped flying when the TSA started fondling people so, F.U.VERY MUCH, ms DOLT!

  48. I have another two questions for this miserable creature:
first, DOES YOUR MASK WORK? If it does, WHY are you all knicker-be-knotted that I, amongst the unmasked hordes, will provide YOU with enough viral load so YOU can contract this dread disease?
    Question two is like it:
Does your injection WORK to prevent YOUR contracting this disease? If it does, they WHY are you looking fiery daggers at ME? If ypur mug nappie and/or stab WORK, then I am NO DANGER to you.
But you seem to be convinced I AM a grave danger to you, which is proof incontrovertible that neither one o f these measures actually WORK as ballyhooed about.

So put a sock in it. You’ve got NOTHING to contribute to the discussion. Nothing helpful at any rate.

    1. I’m not in favor of mask mandates, or think they provide much protection, but anyone who asks the question, “DOES YOUR MASK WORK? If it does, WHY are you all knicker-be-knotted that I, amongst the unmasked hordes, will provide YOU with enough viral load so YOU can contract this dread disease?”, has had over a year to learn the basic fact that masks are to protect the other person from your exhalation of the virus, not the other way around.

      1. Ching! $.50.

        1. Not everyone who calls out you fascists is a troll.

          1. Fuck off, fed.

            1. Why are you calling me a fed?

I don’t care what a backward bigot like you thinks, but I ain’t no snitch.

Hell the Mormon I replied to belongs to a snitch church????

      2. Someone go to Idaho and give laursen its overdue lead vaccine.

        1. The left is a clump of cells. Act accordingly.

      3. Yes, a piece of fabric from Michael’s is very good at blocking a virus that is so small you need an electron microscope to see it. It’s not like throwing a marble through a chain-link fence at all.

  49. Not based in science and at all and neither is this crap. “the unvaccinated have constituted 99 percent of hospitalizations and deaths.”

Have you looked at Israel? Have you actually asked nurses in hospitals or are you getting this old false info from MSM.

You are no better than MSM. In fact you are MSM. Every article I read keeps spreading this disgusting fear mongering.

      1. Ching! $.50.

    1. At least back in July, some areas of the country there is no requirement for the hospitals to report breakthrough infections in those who took the shots. No idea if these requirements have changed, would be nice if we had some kind of profession that could seek out answers to questions the public has of their government…

      https://www.texastribune.org/2021/07/21/coronavirus-texas-vaccinated-deaths/

“DSHS doesn’t track the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations among vaccinated people statewide because hospitals are not required to report that information to the state. Travis County’s health authority, Dr. Desmar Walkes, told county commissioners and Austin City Council members in a Tuesday meeting that almost all new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the area have been among unvaccinated people.”

    2. I was told that since the vax doesn’t actually keep you from getting covid (“Did we say it did? *giggle* Must’ve misspoke.”) but does reduce the severity of symptoms, we’re telling vaccinated people to go home and ride it out there. Thus the 99% of hospitalizations number.

  50. A cunt that thinks that US citizens should have their houses welded shut. What, is she an agent of the Chinese Communist Party?

Leana Wen is a visiting professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, a Washington Post columnist, the former president of Planned Parenthood, and a medical analyst for CNN.

    Pretty much.

    1. What she said is wrong, but someone who believes in golden plates, magic garments, and native Americans coming from Israel shouldn’t be criticizing anyone.

    2. Forgot to mention our belong to and financially support an evil fascist church.

    3. Um …. just look at her. The answer is yes.

    4. If she worked for Planned Parenthood you can expect an ENB article about how “Fasicism is Libertarian-y, Because I Have a Serious Issue with My Dad and I (heart) Planned Parenthood”

  51. Who’s taking up hospital beds now?? https://www.theblaze.com/news/maryland-covid-hospitalizations-vaccinated

You do know that this whole vax/unvax is a distraction and a way to divide society and you are contributing to it by spreading misinformation. Today’s vax’d are tomorrow’s unvax’d and the cycle never ends. We should all be fighting the same enemies.

      1. That was supposed to be replying to the comment one higher up…

        1. Yeah you fucked it up, didn’t you Nazi Asshole Mike.

      2. Oh shit. He linked to a Washington Post article. Oh, it’s over, boys. No way to come back from the Washington Post! Good one, soy boy

      3. An effective vaccine reduces hospitalizations to nothing. A vaccine that reduces hospitalizations sixfold is still useful but deeply flawed, and it likely will not result in herd immunity even at 100% vaccination rates.

    1. Wow, even the very Blaze article you are linking to says: “While the data still shows that the majority of state residents hospitalized with the virus are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated…”

      1. Ching! $.50.

      2. Mike Laursen is a virus.

    2. In June alone, fully vaccinated people made up 16% of the nation’s COVID-19 hospitalizations.
      ———
That’s up from 9% in May.

      1. That means that 84% are unvaccinated, doesn’t it?

  52. Mike Laursen is an evil piece of shit fifty-center. I am done watching him gaslight, conflate the issues, and divert from the topic at every opportunity. Continually being exposed to comments by he and his cohorts is damaging to my piece of mind. I know they exist and can accurately predict how they will respond anyway.

So, I rage quit. Mute User.

    1. Free agency as you Mormons like to say, but don’t let non Mormons practice.

      1. Oh don’t worry shit for brains, we’ll be there to torment you long after you’ve lost your agency.

        1. Is that a threat seat belt?

  53. Fortunately what she thinks isn’t law, so she can basically fuck off.

  54. And she’s part of the problem. We always get these foreign born people who come here with their biases trying to impose them on us, knowing of the freedoms we fought for but not fully understanding why we did so. And she is showing her true Chinese colors

    1. Big time clown energy

  55. Visiting professors are still a category of visitors. And both visitors and fish should be thrown out after three days—because at that point they stink.

    1. The Visitors want us for our water…and they’re shipping us as food!

    2. Counterpoint: all professor should be “thrown out”. No need to wate three days. Far too moderate

  56. The Peoples’ Republic of China is looking for someone like you, Leanna Wen, to join their Ministry of Propaganda and Social Rehabilitation

    1. How do you know she’s not getting paid by them already? She was born there, after all.

      1. We could take up a collection to pay for her plane ticket back to the Chinese slum where she was born.
        Slummers gonna slum.

    2. Imagine pretending like the CCP would need her when she’s serving here purpose in the US. Consider the nation that you already live in a totalitarian state. Just consider it.

  57. “This is a tortured analogy, since the unvaccinated do not actually pose much of a risk to the vaccinated.”

Well, if the vaccines worked, the unvaccinated wouldn’t pose any risk to the vaccinated.

    JFC! WTF?

  58. In less than a week more than half of your writers will be mouthing the exact same talking points. Why even write this shit when you’re going to regurgitate it as soon as the NYT editorial pages starts saying it?

  59. A better solution is to allow/encourage insurers to charge different rates for health and life insurance based on real differences in risk (vaccinated vs unvaccinated). Then let people choose freely and pay the price.

    1. Or not because the insurance companies have been racking in billions in profits as a result of COVID-19. This whole narrative that the insurance companies are going broke paying out all these COVID-19 claims is complete and utter bullshit.

      1. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/05/health/covid-insurance-profits.html

Maybe we will get rebates…lol don’t hold your breath….

    2. How do you do that with 100 million on public insurance?

  60. Natural immunity exists!!!!

  61. Can we deport this bitch already?

    1. We can only dream.

  62. The unvaccinated are the ones whose ignorance continues to create outbreaks, lockdowns and burden healthcare. There are vulnerable people who really can’t be vaccinated whose lives they threaten.

They are ignorant selfish shitstains like anti maskers and are a constant reminder for the rest of us of that element of humanity.

Too bad COVID doesn’t only threaten their lives.

I’d rather they weren’t in public too for the few lives they threaten.

    1. They represent 99% of the deaths now apparently. I guess we’ll have to suffer restrictions, mask mandates and lockdowns until the last of these fuckwits die.

      1. Or until you tell your government no and to fuck off. Last I checked those without the experimental jabs are not the ones in power taking away your rights, that is your government.

        1. Correct. And brain dead, near dead walking corpse taking up space in the White House.
And the liberals complained Trump was a fascist. The lot of them have no idea what fascism really is.
Biden has acted more like a dictator than Trump ever thought of doing.

        2. “ Or until you tell your government no and to fuck off. ”

If we did that, our vulnerable loved ones might die before you.

          I don’t want that.

So it’s restrictions and lockdowns until you die, or get vaccinated. The ball is in your court fuckwit.

          1. Rob, the odds are good government paid nurses and docs are trying to save these yokels ending up in the ICU. These are completely stupid and unnecessary deaths and “wishing I was dead” cases harmful to these patients families, those treating them – I know some and they are burnt out – those needing ICU beds for other reasons, whoever is paying for this care, our communities locking down again, the nation and our economy. Screw these idiots, enough is enough. Get the shot or stay out. Stay out of buildings, public spaces including schools, transportation, and the nation’s life. We’ve had it with your toddler’s tantrum.

            1. those needing ICU beds for other reasons, whoever is paying for this care, our communities locking down again, the nation and our economy. Screw these idiots, enough is enough

Oh, I feel the same way about people who are overweight, who smoke, and who drink. I’m tired being forced to pay for the ICU beds and healthcare dollars those people waste on completely preventable diseases.

I say: if you’re obese, if you have ever smoked, or if you have alcohol-related disease, Medicare/Medicaid should cut you off and hospitals should stop admitting you unless you pay out of pocket. How about that?

              1. “ If we did that, our vulnerable loved ones might die before you.

                I don’t want that.”

My comment demonstrated that I’m not worried about my vaccinated life but the lives of others who for medical reasons cannot vaccinate or are otherwise at greater risk of death.

                It’s not about me.

Regarding your suggestion that would deny healthcare to half the population, the logical conclusion to that kind of reasoning would exclude anyone whose diet consists of anything but water and bean sprouts or left the safety of their bed. Fuckwit.

                1. My comment demonstrated that I’m not worried about my vaccinated life but the lives of others who for medical reasons cannot vaccinate or are otherwise at greater risk of death.

Really? Who do you know who cannot be vaccinated and what are the exact reasons? Who is at risk still after vaccinations? You are making this stuff up.

Regarding your suggestion that would deny healthcare to half the population, the logical conclusion to that kind of reasoning would exclude anyone whose diet consists of anything but water and bean sprouts or left the safety of their bed.

Not at all. My suggestion is that we let private insurance carriers offer insurance in a private market, based on actual risk. If your BMI is below 18.5 or above 25, you’d pay several times the premiums of a person with a normal BMI.

It doesn’t take a diet of “water and bean sprouts” to maintain a normal BMI. But you wouldn’t know that, would you.

                  1. People who are severely allergic to components of the vaccines or people who experienced myocarditis or pericarditis after receiving the first dose of vaccine should not be vaccinated.

Neither has anything to do with BMI. There are many illnesses that have nothing to do with the food people eat or BMI.

Civilized nations don’t use entirely private healthcare. People who are ill can’t work which means they can’t pay for healthcare.

                    1. People who are severely allergic to components of the vaccines or people who experienced myocarditis or pericarditis after receiving the first dose of vaccine should not be vaccinated.

You are regurgitating generic statements from vaccine information statements. You talked about your loved ones. I am asking you: did any of your loved ones have had any of those reactions? Of course they haven’t.

And your reasoning doesn’t make sense to begin with. Pericarditis and myocarditis are the result of COVID vaccinations in the young, people who are only vaccinated because of idiotic vaccine mandates/recommendations. Those cases largely occur after the second dose, and even if they occur after the first dose, the individuals are still protected against severe disease anyway.

Finally, even if there was a risk for these people, we do not impose mandatory vaccinations on 300 million people to protect a handful of vulnerable individuals; that makes neither moral, nor economic, nor medical sense.

                    2. Neither has anything to do with BMI. There are many illnesses that have nothing to do with the food people eat or BMI.

A high BMI means much higher risk for many diseases. The majority of US healthcare expenses are the result of poor diet and lack of exercise.

Civilized nations don’t use entirely private healthcare. People who are ill can’t work which means they can’t pay for healthcare.

Private healthcare contracts protect you not just against medical costs, but also against your inability to pay premiums while ill. That’s how civilized countries deal with these issues in a free market fashion.

                    3. No, everyone but you apparently knows that one dose of vaccine is not enough to be fully protected.

There’s much you don’t know, least of all about allergic reactions. Sucks to be you.

There are also many fully vaccinated people who are severely vulnerable to covid because of underlying conditions and age which have nothing to do with BMI.

Do you know everyone personally in “our nation”. Our loved ones is no different. You don’t comprehend much do you?
Or are you just lying again?

I was talking about respect for our inalienable right to life. You neither show nor deserve any respect.

                    4. No, everyone but you apparently knows that one dose of vaccine is not enough to be fully protected.

You’re confusing a recommended vaccine schedule with individual responses. If you develop myocarditis from the COVID vaccine, you necessarily have had a full immune response because it is the immune response that causes the inflammation.

There are also many fully vaccinated people who are severely vulnerable to covid

Then you are saying that the vaccine isn’t effective.

                    5. Though not 100%, the vaccine is far more effective than your comprehension.

When myocarditis occurs after the first dose patients don’t get a second. Even those that occurred after the second will prevent patients from getting a booster.

I’ve refuted everything you have said proving that you’re full of shit.

                    6. If you think that I haven’t refuted everything you’ve said that is even remotely relevant, identify it and I’ll set you straight.

                    7. When myocarditis occurs after the first dose patients don’t get a second.

Yes. And you erroneously assume that they need one.

Even those that occurred after the second will prevent patients from getting a booster.

Again, you erroneously assume that they need one.

I’ve refuted everything you have said proving that you’re full of shit.

No, all you have proven is that you make erroneous assumptions and ignore it when people point that out to you.

            2. Great, we are also going to stop paying taxes to finance all these lovely institutions you want us to stay out of.

See how well that works for you when half the country stops paying taxes for services they are being denied.

              1. If those institutions support anyone or anything that provides anything you want to use, you’ll still be required to pay those taxes.

In other words, only if you completely turn your back on everyone and everything involved in the economy, you can logically refuse to pay taxes.

Nobody will ever hear from you again. Fill your boots.

            3. Just remember…take the shot or my shot won’t work!
Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from the virus they got vaccinated against
              because you’re not vaccinated.

          2. So it’s restrictions and lockdowns until you die, or get vaccinated. The ball is in your court fuckwit.

You can wait a long, long time for that. See, the majority of those who are unvaccinated likely have natural immunity, either from COVID or a cross-reactive virus. That’s because the vast majority of COVID infections are without significant symptoms.

            1. Wait it is.

          3. Listen here chucklefuck, take a drive to your nearest hospital and you will find the parking lot most likely to be empty.

Your vulnerable loved one might also die of something completely unrelated to COVID, like say a car accident. The way you idiots think I guess we should ban cars from the roads, I mean that would stop car accidents, right? If it can save one life, right?

            1. Listen simplefuck, get vaccinated and you probably won’t die from COVID and you’ll be less likely to spread it to others.

Just like we have traffic laws to prevent more people from dying on the road.

              1. Listen simplefuck, get vaccinated and you probably won’t die from COVID and you’ll be less likely to spread it to others.

Listen simplefuck, the “vaccinated” have been spreading these variants because they’re ineffective at actually preventing infection (they don’t provide immunity, just mitigate symptoms), and have provided a breeding ground for them to adapt. The variants didn’t become an issue until *after* the vaccine rollout.

                1. “The variants didn’t become an issue until *after* the vaccine rollout.”

So what? Are you suggesting that you’ve demonstrated causality?

You don’t understand logic at all do you?

              2. The logical error that tripping you up here, why it makes sense to you but people keep saying you’re an idiot is this:
You use qualifiers at one point in your argument, to reflect reality: “probably” won’t die, “less likely” to spread it to others, etc.

But then in the evaluation step it’s “dying”, “putting people’s lives at risk” (without quantifying or even assessing that “risk”). IOW, you are assessing a situation with variable, probabilities and partial truths and coming out the other side with an absolute binary. Its “living/dead”. Way scarier than “a one in ten thousand chance…”.

It’s no wonder people end up talking past each other, disbelieving how ANYONE could deny such obvious truths as you’ve presented.
Well, they’re actually “obvious but badly flawed”.

      2. They represent 99% of the deaths now apparently.

So you can’t make up your mind: on the one hand, you think that the vaccine is effective, on the other hand, you worry that even if you’re vaccinated you are going to die from being near someone who is unvaccinated.

I guess these contradictory beliefs are not surprising coming from a fascist like you, or as you describe yourself so aptly, “an ignorant selfish shitstain”.

        1. You obviously didn’t comprehend my comment, making your reply irrelevant.

Do you want to try again or quit while you’re behind?

          1. Your comment didn’t explain how unvaccinated people can threaten your life, while at the same time believing that vaccinations will stop this threat. Feel free to try constructing a logical argument supporting that view.

But that’s probably too much to expect from (to use your own words) “an ignorant selfish shitstain” like you.

Be specific!

In reality, you are making this stuff up. You know nobody who cannot be vaccinated.

                It’s not about me.

Your concern trolling is all about you.

                1. People who are severely allergic to components of the vaccines or people who experienced myocarditis or pericarditis after receiving the first dose of vaccine should not be vaccinated.

                  Are you actually denying this?

I don’t need to know someone to respect their inalienable right to life.

                  1. People who are severely allergic to components of the vaccines or people who experienced myocarditis or pericarditis after receiving the first dose of vaccine should not be vaccinated. Are you actually denying this?

Myocarditis and pericarditis are the result of the vaccine working, so people who show those symptoms are protected.

The “people who are severely allergic to components of the vaccines” is a generic warning; I don’t know of any cases.

I don’t need to know someone to respect their inalienable right to life.

You spoke of “our loved ones”, implying that it was something personal. I called you out on your lie.

And, I’m sorry, but your “inalienable right to life” does not include compelling me to undergo medical procedures to result in an infinitesimal reduction to someone else’s risk.

                    1. No, everyone but you apparently knows that one dose of vaccine is not enough to be fully protected.

There’s much you don’t know, least of all about allergic reactions. Sucks to be you.

Do you know everyone personally in “our nation”. Our loved ones is no different. You don’t comprehend much do you?
Or are you just lying again?

I was talking about respect for our inalienable right to life. You neither show nor deserve any respect.

                    2. I was talking about respect for our inalienable right to life.

The “inalienable right to life” means that government can’t go around killing you. It doesn’t give you a blanket right to demand that other people protect you from viruses.

                    3. No, wrong again.

The term inalienable means something that I possess.

You and I possess the inalienable right to life meaning that we can’t give it away or have it taken away from us by anyone.

Read a dictionary for goodness sake.

                      1. not subject to being taken away from or given away by the possessor:

                    4. You and I possess the inalienable right to life meaning that we can’t give it away or have it taken away from us by anyone.

Correct. And how does people not getting vaccinated take away your life?

                    5. The virus kills people. Even vaccinated people. Over 1600 every day in the US.

Not being vaccinated makes anyone more likely to get and spread the virus.

                      You don’t possess common sense.

                    6. Not being vaccinated makes anyone more likely to get and spread the virus.

Vaccinations prevent serious disease in vaccinated individuals. Vaccinations do not have a measurable effect on spread.

As a result, the rational policy is to leave it up to each individual whether to get vaccinated.

                      You don’t possess common sense.

“Common sense” is that rent control and minimum wage work; that’s why lots of people support them. Common sense is frequently wrong and harmful.

Fascists throw out liberty in favor of “common sense”. It’s not surprising that you advocate that.

        2. Also that 99% claim is back from April or March just before the Delta variant become dominate in the country.

    2. The unvaccinated are the ones whose ignorance continues to create outbreaks, lockdowns and burden healthcare.

What creates lockdowns is fascist pricks like you; you really are an “ignorant, selfish shitstain.”

      1. A real fascist would liquidate these simpering eunuchs.

  63. “I would love to get vaccinated before I leave the house, but the BLM riot is starting and I just don’t have time! Darn! Well, toodles!”

  64. CNN’s Leana Wen: The Unvaccinated Should Not Be Allowed To Leave Their Homes “You have the option to not get vaccinated if you want,” said the doctor. “But then you can’t go out in public.”

Thank you, Professor Wen, for making it crystal clear that the COVID vaccines are ineffective.

Also: f*ck you, you evil fascist.

  65. This absolutist authoritarian trait is what I absolutely hate about Asians. I am half Asian myself and have lived in various Asian countries for the past ten years. It’s in their DNA to prefer authoritarian subjugation over freedom. Of all the Asian countries today, only Japan, S Korea and Taiwan are democratically run. The rest are run by dictators of various kinds. Even in the case of Japan and S Korea, they had to be nuked and bombed to the stone age to accept democratic system. The chinese had so many changes to build a free society, but nah, they preferred a strong man ruling over them. #cray

    1. Is reality too authoritarian for you?

Your desire to have freedom from reality is insanity.

Maybe it’s something else that you hate.

    2. Imagine using “strong man” as an epithet.

    3. you raise an interesting point…the good folks of hawaii are an easy example of your claim. i lived there for years, and still travel there frequently, and it has been a source of amusement to me how much they LOVE to be controlled. like whipped dogs they roll over for all things authoritarian like bitches and chumps. they tolerate outrageous taxes, ridiculous fees for car reg’s, truly shitty schools, preposterous low speed limits, outrageous utility rates, and A SALES TAX (G.E.T.) ON EVERYTHING THEY BUY INCLUDING FOOD AND MEDICINE AND SERVICES. this willingness to be treated like doormats is a direct inheritance of asian values of some weird sort

    4. Singapore is also democratically run…a democratic authoritarian state through and through.

  66. It is NOT a choice if your choice means you can’t live a normal life or go about your business. That is called being coerced.

Yes, you’re not being raped. But if you don’t say yes to sex, you will be murdered. See how that works?

  67. “Come on, man! Don’t you want to be like the rest of us vaccinated people, and live in absolute terror that somebody without the vaccine will infect us? And STILL wear a mask? It’s CRAZY NOT TO!”

    Welcome to Clown World.

    1. You’re just a terrified coward.

Those of us unafraid to recognize reality and act responsibly pity you.

      1. You’re just a terrified coward.

No, Rob, you are the “terrified coward”.

The rest of us go on with our lives without worrying about other people’s vaccination status and without throwing temper tantrums if they don’t comply with our preferences.

        1. I’m not the one afraid to get vaccinated and wear a mask to save lives. I’m not afraid that doing so will destroy the economy.

I see the bigger picture being peoples lives, even when other narcissists have temper tantrum’s.

          1. I’m not the one afraid to get vaccinated and wear a mask to save lives.

But you are afraid that not wearing a mask or not getting vaccinated will kill you and others.

I see the bigger picture being peoples lives

Indeed, you are a collectivist with a germ phobia.

            1. I’m not afraid of killing anyone because I am taking responsible precautions.

I don’t want to get or spread the virus, do you? If not why do you refuse to take reasonable precautions?

              You aren’t acting rationally.

              1. I’m not afraid of killing anyone because I am taking responsible precautions.

As I was saying, you are “afraid that not wearing a mask or not getting vaccinated will kill you and others.” Irrationally afraid.

                You aren’t acting rationally.

No, you are not acting rationally. You have turned vaccinations and masks into a fetish, hoping it will ward off evil.

  68. Someone is selling doormats with braindead Joe’s face on it with the words ” Wipe feet here”
    https://unitedpatriotco.com/products/wipe-feer-here-doormat-joe?utm_source=Firefly&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=TGP
Someone should offer butt wipe with her face on it.

  69. Robby, once again falling for the narrative…

“the unvaccinated have constituted 99 percent of hospitalizations and deaths. ”

So I click the link. And it’s from a JUNE artice from USNEWS which cites a MAY article from AP! Any links to the CDC data? OF COURSE NOT!

But we’re Libertarians. We just “trust the science” and stuff. We don’t need to validate where the hell the data comes from. I mean, teh CDC lying??? That’s crazy talk!

This is why I stopped listening to the Reason podcast. I’ll never forget last year the fear these guys had and the complete “trust” in the government data.

All fake libertarians. They were so flippin’ scared and I imagine still are.

  70. Didn’t this Asshole get fired from her nutty previous job because she was too much of an asshole?

  71. Pure evil.

  72. I go along with the usual libertarian philosophy of greater personal freedom, and I actively dislike the overweening government types. But I’m more than a bit baffled by this battle. Covid is a nasty illness. I know a few people who’ve caught it, and while they all survived some were extremely sick for weeks and are still feeling after-affects. I sure didn’t want it so I am vaccinated. How did this become a hill to fight on? Why do so many people not want to be vaccinated?

    1. Since being vaccinated provides as close to perfect protection from severe symptoms as is biologically possible, why does the reason for someone not wanting to get the vaccine matter to any vaccinated person?

If you believe in individual liberty, then other people’s motives for how they choose to exercise that liberty shouldn’t matter.

Personally, I’m more curious (and this curiosity pre-dates Covid or the vaccine debates) why most of the leftists that I know claim to believe in “bodily autonomy”, but can rationalize why virtually every particular aspect of that autonomy is revocable except for one.

The only science-based argument I’ve heard that could reasonably support a vaccine mandate is that the more the virus spreads, the more likely it becomes for new variants to emerge; however, if the new claims from the CDC are accurate (which there’s ample reason to doubt when they’re coming out of Walensky’s mouth), then 100% vaccination among the public might not stop or slow the spread of the virus and would only provide protection from severe outcomes for the current variants, which would reduce the strength of that particular argument.

  73. The 99% factoid is almost certainly false. The CDC has disavowed it, on the grounds that not all states have provided data and not all that have did a careful job of determining vaccination status of those who died. The CDC’s latest estimate is that the unvaccinated are about eleven times as likely to die as the vaccinated. More than twice as many adults are vaccinated as unvaccinated, so that suggests something more than ten percent of deaths should be among the vaccinated — what the actual number is nobody appears to know.

    1. Also, the baseline level of risk is so increased by age and other underlying health factors, it’s not exactly valid to simply divide the population in the “vaxxed” and “un-vaxxed”.

A typical unvaccinated 12 year old is still at lower risk from Covid than most fully vaccinated people over 60.

  74. Dear Ms. Wen

Fuck you and all your nanny-state retard friends. i have natural immunity from having had covid. To recap…suck my ass you stupid cunt.

    best regards

    Jack

  75. You have the right not to wear clothes, but then you can’t go out in public.

Since not spreading a deadly disease is a far more compelling justification for a restriction like that than protecting people from the sight of human anatomy, when can I expect equal vigor and equally loud hyperbolic screaming concerning our public decency laws?

    Never, presumably?

  76. The unvaccinated pose a threat, only to the unvaccinated. I mean, that s why get vaccinated, isn’t it?

  77. Remember like a year ago during the lockdowns when normal people wanted to go out anyway and reopen things, ok with the risk, and said if you are so worried about it then stay home? The same people who insisted on lockdowns are now pushing for mandatory vaccines and passports refused, now saying that the normal people should be forced to stay at home this time. All I can say to them is fuck you. You refused that offer last year, don’t think you can force it on me now.

  78. This cunt is a pure whacko.

An intellectual and moral travesty no sane person could possibly respect.

That she gets to go on TV and blather on Nazi-esque gibberish is a marvel and sign of the zeitgeist.

I find it amusing that the science does not support any kind of assault on the healthy unvaccinated. The ‘experimental injection’ doesn’t halt transmission and vaccinated people have the same – if not higher- viral load than the ‘unclean’ and have become asymptomatic super spreaders. What on God’s green earth is going on in the West and in North America in particular?

NONE of this is rational or ethical.

Trudeau, Biden, this idiot….it’s like they’re all mentally ill.

Or there’s some kind of plandemic in play.

    Wen. Go fuck yourself.

    1. Thank you for your reviews.
I have also the same experience and I agree with your context.

  79. Leana Wen should not be allowed out of the house. It’s obvious; a PHD does not necessarily mean you’re intelligent nor have the capability to reason and use logic. It only means you can get a government job(like Anthony Fauci) and pontificate useless nonsense to the plebes, many of whom will believe it.
She’s as dangerous as she is screwball and that’s when ideas like hers often get established and used as a substitute for reason and common sense.
This woman should be ignored and ridiculed.

  80. The writer’s premise that the unvaccinated are only dangers to other unvaccinated persons fails to consider the collateral damage to society – healthcare provider burnout, overload on publicly funded healthcare facilities, excessive costs passed on to insurers and employers, breakout infections of the vaccinated, irritating mask mandates. The arrogance of anti-vaxxers is the major cause of these problems – the vaccines are readily available to one and all.
While house arrest is a bit of an overreach, banning the unvaccinated from public spaces (up to and including food stores) is reasonable and appropriate. “Vaccine passports” are a reasonable response to the problem.

    1. That principle can be applied far more widely:

The writer’s premise that the obese are only dangers to themselves to consider the collateral damage to society – healthcare provider burnout, overload on publicly funded healthcare facilities, excessive costs passed on to insurers and employers, the increased demand for caregivers, reduced work productivity, the need to support the large number of people disabled due to the consequences of obesity. The arrogance of the obese is the major cause of these problems – weight loss programs are readily available to one and all.

Most of our healthcare spending as a nation is caused by obesity, lack of exercise, drug use, and irresponsible sexual behavior.

If you’re willing to infringe on people’s liberties in order to save on healthcare costs, here are some things we can do:

BMI of 25 and above: mandatory daily weight and BMI measurements, via an Internet-connected scales; financial penalties unless person sticks to a weight loss plan; may not enter restaurants and limited to select food retailers

BMI of 30 and above: mandatory institutionalization in a government run weight loss program

BMI of 35 and above: mandatory bariatric surgery

How about it? It’s “reasonable and appropriate”, given that “our” healthcare costs are spiraling out of control!

Once we cross that line for vaccines, we can cross it for those other lifestyle factors. No, really, I insist.
