Brickbat: St. Louis Blues

Two St. Louis police officers have been charged with sexually assaulting four women, including a civilian police department employee. Lafeal Lawshea has been charged with two counts of forcible rape, forcible sodomy, sexual misconduct and tampering with a victim. Torey Phelps is facing charges of forcible rape and intercourse with an incapacitated woman. A third officer, Sgt. Jatonya Clayborn-Muldrow, has been charged with tampering with a witness in the case. Prosecutors say she attempted to dissuade one woman from reporting an assault by Lawshea and tried to find out who was handling the internal affairs investigation.

Shit like this happens in Republican run cities too. Decades ago when I lived in Republican controlled San Diego, a string of rapes was eventually discovered to be a cop. Nearby to my home town, a Republican stronghold city had police force so corrupt that the repercussions still exist forty years later.

I don't want to defund the police, but I do think there's a cop culture that is out of control that can only be addressed by tossing out the assholes and never hiring them ever again in any district ever. And quite a few spots where the cities need to disband the police entirely in favor of the sheriffs department.

We can do that by dumping the fucktard war on drugs, and the fucktard war on immigration, and get back to policing actual violent crime. Take away their damned cars and make them walk their beat. Disband their unions. No internal reviews, only public reviews. Publicly humiliate bad cops by stripping their tags and badges in front of the press. Ride them out on a rail if you have to.
