Brickbat: This Is Awkward

Alton, Illinois, Mayor Brant Walker ordered police to crack down on people violating the state's shelter-at-home order. Less than 48 hours later, cops broke up a gathering at a local bar, a gathering that included Walker's wife. The wife, and everyone else in the bar, was cited for reckless conduct, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in jail and/or a fine of $2,500.

Sounds like he knew his wife would be there.
Couldn't anyone who wanted a drink just go across the river to St. Louis? The town is essentially a St. Louis suburb.
That should be...
Mayor Brant Walker (D)
Yes, we have another example of a liberal politician who makes rules they don't follow, just the little guys are to follow those rules. Then to hear this guy attack a reporter for reporting his wife was violating the rules, just shows you how they think, how they'll treat you, and how well they follow the rules they make for others. If he was honest and honorable, he'd apologize for his wife being there and endangering the community which is the alleged reason he made his rule. The other reasons being he wants to look like he's doing something to help get reelected, and he wants to wield and increase his power (ok - call me a cynic).
No, no, no. OUR totalitarian leaders are righteous, sometimes have to crack down in order to accomplish higher goals, and deserve celebrity status. THEIR totalitarian leaders are evil, oppressive people, and are only motivated by naked greed for power and privilege.

Uh they found his wife there, not him, so I'm not sure what you're going on about?
Can't keep the little lady at home.
The first thing I’d like to say is that in politics it used to be that we kept our families out of it. His official duties have nothing to do with his family. So, he shouldn't have to answer that question. It's inappropriate and I find it reprehensible, honestly, that a reporter wrote a story about it.
Stop living in the past, man.
I'm Billy Carter and I approve this message.
Off topic, whatever nitwit thought the pop over videos were a great thing to add during the sites revamp, may you rot in hell.
Presenting videos in this way is just a waste but setting up the page so that the close button aligns with the flag button is just asinine.

What do you want for free?
Free? You mean I didn't have to pay for that subscription? Wat?
The website is free.
Because no one would pay for it. The market has set the correct price.
So guess who's not going to face punishment for her actions and guess who will.
Anyone who gives the mayor a BJ?
She's his wife, not his mistress, so chances are she doesn't suck his cock either.
Ruby...don't take your love to town.
Thanks for the stock photo, Reason.
When the article said "at a bar", I was at a complete loss as to what that might look like. It might have led to me imagining her at a ballet class, in tights, stretching her lithe body, em pointe, then glancing over at me with sultry eyes and pouring wine on her neck, the claret running down over her voluptuous (but lithe!) cleavage...and then wouldn't I have felt dirty!
Fortunately, Reason has the resources to show me exactly...errr...approximately...errr...generally sorta what that would actually look like.
The splash pic on the main page was small enough that I mistook it for "The Last Supper", or a knockoff of same.

Da rules be for thee,
Not so much for me.

From the window, it appears to be the bar on the roof across from Gotham Police Department.
Her bigger crime was drinking an IPA.
"Reckless conduct is a totally unreasonable conduct that is a gross deviation from what a reasonable person would do."
Looks like the judge is going to be signing a lot of dismissals.
They're good dogs, Bront.
Isn't this story from a month ago or so?
