In Australia, the Victoria police department is defending officers at one station who celebrated 70 years of Communist rule in China by raising that nation's flag over their headquarters and singing the Chinese national anthem. More than a quarter of the people living in the area around that station are from China, and in a statement the department said the ceremony honored ties with the local Chinese community. But a local councilor questioned the move. "I would have thought our own police force would be a little more judicious when it comes to associating themselves with authoritarian foreign states that have a very different approach to policing its citizens," said Blair Barker.

As usual there will be crickets and even casual dismissal of the opinions of the actual Chinese people there who might say anything negative about communism and the godawful government they have actually lived under. The wide-eyed “I’m literally a communist” dirtbags in the west continue to kid themselves it’s all such a fantastic idea, and/or love it all the more for its callous and brutal disdain for their political opponents.

I was sitting in a bar waiting for my buddy the other day talking to some girl he’s currently fooling around with and she did that classic eyes-wide, staring into the distance with naive sincerity bomb drop of “I’m literally like, very far left”, at which point I began to ignore her and watch the sportsball instead. What drives people to tie in political delusions/persuasions so strongly with their sense of identity? It’s the equivalent of someone telling you that they’re vegan as if it’s the most important thing about them and central to their identity as an individual.

You might want to check with the neighbors first to find out why they’re *from* China and not *in* China. If you’ve got a local German community, you might want to hold off on flying the German flag if they happen to be heavily Jewish as well.

That’s yer problem, right there.

1. These people left China for a reason dude. That flag is the flag of the *government* of China – the oppressive communist state – not of the Chinese people. You’re literally waving the symbol of the oppressor they escaped in their faces.

2. You shouldn’t be building ties with ‘the Chinese community’. You should be helping these people become part of the Australian community. Ghettos are supposed to be temporary, not permanent enclaves of foreign cultures.
