British prosecutors say they have dropped 47 rape cases after finding police and prosecutors did not share potentially exculpatory evidence with defense attorneys. Prosecutors reviewed all active rape cases after several high-profile rape cases collapsed after defense attorneys received evidence at the last minute that undermined the prosecution.

"The police and (Crown Prosecution Service) set up a review of every rape and serious sexual assault attack case going through the criminal justice system in January and February this year. It examined cases where someone had been charged and pleaded not guilty."

So we can be assured that cases in other months, or which didn't involve "serious" assaults, or where the defendant was forced into a guilty plea, don't have these problems, so aren't worth investigating.

Oh, good, for a second there I thought people would be losing their jobs. Which would be unfair, because unlike regular citizens, you can't hold prosecutors accountable for complying with the law unless they've received special training in how to comply.

This is ridiculous. On the one hand, prosecutors are violating due process rights of defendants in half the rape cases. On the other hand, there are allegations of UK cops turning a blind eye to statutory rape by Muslim men of Pakistani origin out of fear they will be called racist.

This seems really hard to believe. That a cop, or anyone really, would permit rapes to occur out of fear of being called bad names.

He was accused by a woman, wasn't he? So he must be guilty.
All that evidence stuff has a tendency to change the jury's mind anyway.
