President Donald Trump's attorneys are trying to sway him against agreeing to an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller partially out of concern he might incriminate himself...

    They'll DM instead.

    1. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

      Hello.

    2. Holmes IV   7 years ago

So, the attorney is the DM, who is playing the Cleric and Thief? (I assume Trump is a barbarian.)

      1. TrickyVic (old school)   7 years ago

        Isn't that what lawyers do?

  2. Bee Tagger   7 years ago

Steve Bannon is reportedly thinking about defying a House Intelligence Committee subpoena by refusing to appear before the committee.

The real test of his political prowess.

    1. Aloysious   7 years ago

I would love to see him appear before the Committee; just long enough to say, "Fuck you, cut spending."

  3. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

The House Intelligence Committee has voted to release the Democratic memo drafted in response to the Republican "Nunes memo."

OMG DEMOCRACY IN THE BALANCE ALL OVER AGAIN

    1. Conchfritters   7 years ago

I don't think you got the memo.

      1. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

He fails to file his TPS reports.

        1. MarkLastname   7 years ago

          Yyyyyeahhhh, mmmkay

  4. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

Steve Bannon is reportedly thinking about defying a House Intelligence Committee subpoena by refusing to appear before the committee.

Finally, someone putting the nation's contempt for Congress in real terms.

    1. Griffin3   7 years ago

I would love to be subpoena'd by congress. They can force you to appear under penalty of contempt, but they can't prevent you from being a snarky asshole. And uploading it to youtube.

    2. Juice   7 years ago

Blows my mind that in the USA, legislators have the power to summon you for questioning under threat of any penalty. Has anyone ever told them to stick it up their asses? If so, what actually happened to them?

  5. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

The House Intelligence Committee has voted to release the Democratic memo drafted in response to the Republican "Nunes memo."

I'm sure whatever is in this will be comedic gold.

  6. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

The stock market seems to be headed for another day of losses today.

The market has finally realized that the Trump tax cuts aren't giveaways to the rich after all.

  7. Bee Tagger   7 years ago

The House Intelligence Committee has voted to release the Democratic memo drafted in response to the Republican "Nunes memo."

By dethroning s-hole-gate in the media, we now know that the memo pen is mightier than the s-word.

    1. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

This is why no one likes you.

  8. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

Elon Musk's Space X is planning to launch its Falcon Heavy rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral today.

    Unless 007 can stop him.

    1. JoeBlow123   7 years ago

I read that NASA is trying to make one of these too, a big lift rocket. It will, as it is years from being ready, cost like one billion per launch with a lower capacity than the Falcon Heavy which will cost $80 million per launch.

      Nuts.

      Who is Elon Musk?

"President Donald Trump's attorneys are trying to sway him against agreeing to an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller partially out of concern he might incriminate himself through false statements and could be charged with lying to investigators."

That horse left the barn the day Trump signed up for Twitter.

    1. Rhywun   7 years ago

"Anything you tweet can and will be used against you."

  10. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

Polish President Andrzej Duda is expected to sign a bill today making it illegal to accuse Poles of complicity in the Holocaust.

You know who else didn't want to be seen as complicit in the Holocaust?

  11. Conchfritters   7 years ago

Elon Musk's Space X is planning to launch its Falcon Heavy rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral today.

Wernher von Braun not impressed. That thing has a fraction of the lift the Saturn V had.

    1. JWatts   7 years ago

It's 2/3rds the thrust of the Saturn V , the 2nd highest ever and the boosters are potentially re-useable, making it far more economical. Economics is the key to space, not raw power.

      1. Cyto   7 years ago

To underscore this point, the list price on a launch on the Falcon Heavy is less than the subsidy we give to the ULA just for them to maintain launch readiness. So much less that you could launch a half dozen satellites that are too heavy to fit on any ULA rocket and still have money left over.

The economics of SpaceX (and later to come, BlueOrigin) are enough to change the industry.

  12. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

"President Donald Trump's attorneys are trying to sway him against agreeing to an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller partially out of concern he might incriminate himself through false statements and could be charged with lying to investigators."

"They'll be the best false statements. The best. Really, believe me. Ask anyone. They will tell you. Big League."

    1. This Machine Chips Fascists   7 years ago

Nobody tells a bigger lie than me. Nobody! My lies are the greatest of all time! Totally and completely false. Not an ounce of truth. Not one! Trust me folks, I got a million of them.

    2. Anomalous   7 years ago

They won't be false statements. They'll be based on alternative facts.

      1. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

        alternative facts

This is apparently an actual legal term. But lefty journos still lost/lose their shit over its use. They really are the worst.

  13. $park? leftist poser   7 years ago

President Donald Trump's attorneys are trying to sway him against agreeing to an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller partially out of concern he might incriminate himself through false statements and could be charged with lying to investigators.

Their advice: "Dude, look in the fucking mirror."

    1. Cyto   7 years ago

Anyone would be an idiot to grant these guys an interview. Doubly so if you are the overall target of their investigation.

If you are Donald Trump? Please. There's no chance he could sit through a 10 minute interview without falling into a perjury trap of some sort.

      1. Incomprehensible Bitching   7 years ago

This is all part of the Drumpster's evil plan: gin up sympathy and publicity by portraying himself as a victim of an aggressively politicized FBI, and getting his reality show back in the form of show trials, impeachment proceedings, and pardons.

        Don't let Drumpf succeed!

Lock him up! Lock him up!

      2. JoeBlow123   7 years ago

I would not want to talk to investigators either. They are not bound to stick to one issue and will be happy to crucify interviewees over any perceived infraction.

  14. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

The stock market seems to be headed for another day of losses today.

Market correction, I suppose. But I fully expect disingenuous claptrap from the MSM.

    1. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

If the 10 year rates fall below the 2 year inverting the yield curve....recession.

      Too soon to tell.

There are definitely many factors at play here.

  15. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

Elon Musk's Space X is planning to launch its Falcon Heavy rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral today.

  16. Tom Bombadil   7 years ago

    Dear Reason,

It is not the 'Nunes Memo'. The memo came from The House Intelligence Committee.

    Stop being so lazy.

    1. TrickyVic (old school)   7 years ago

""It is not the 'Nunes Memo'.""

You got to have titles you can sensationalize.

    2. Unlabelable MJGreen   7 years ago

Brevity is the soul of wit.

    3. Citizen X - #6   7 years ago

Well, it's certainly A Nunes memo.

  17. OpenBordersLiberal-tarian   7 years ago

"President Donald Trump's attorneys are trying to sway him against agreeing to an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller partially out of concern he might incriminate himself through false statements and could be charged with lying to investigators."

Drumpf's entourage is getting nervous. They know Mueller is closing in. And it's important to keep in mind that Hillary Clinton Could Still Become President if Russia Probe Finds Conspiracy Evidence. Everybody should root for that outcome, especially with the Drumpf economy now falling apart like Paul Krugman said it would.

    1. Libertarian   7 years ago

If you posted your comments at a place like Vox or Huffington Post instead of the losers at Reason, you'd have millions of fans. Monetize your thoughts, man, monetize them!

      1. Tom Bombadil   7 years ago

Even better, if pigs had wings, OBL wouldn't have so many knee abrasions.

        1. Zeb   7 years ago

And if it was a real person and not an embodied strawman.

      2. JWatts   7 years ago

"If you posted your comments at a place like Vox or Huffington Post instead of the losers at Reason..."

They would be identical to dozens of other posters comments. Except for the irony.

      3. OpenBordersLiberal-tarian   7 years ago

I thought Vox didn't allow comments? Regardless, Reason.com ? although too pro-"2nd Amendment" for my tastes ? nevertheless features my favorite libertarian writer Shikha Dalmia. That's why this place is my number one source for news.

Of course HuffPo isn't bad either. I recommend this piece giving Hillary a 98.2% chance of winning, which basically proves Drumpf must have cheated.

        1. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

features my favorite libertarian writer Shikha Dalmia.

          LOL.

        2. JoeBlow123   7 years ago

          Mozart back at work.

    2. Ecoli   7 years ago

This is how to troll, people! Complete sentences, all on the very brink of sanity/insanity. OBL is god-like.

      1. Cy   7 years ago

I think of it more as satire. It's too obvious to be trolling.

        1. Rhywun   7 years ago

I'm not sure I can tell the difference anymore.

        2. loveconstitution1789   7 years ago

The lefties are getting pretty sad and desperate.

          1. $park? leftist poser   7 years ago

            *facepalm*

            1. loveconstitution1789   7 years ago

              Case in point.

              1. Citizen X - #6   7 years ago

OBL is a blatantly obvious parody, and you keep falling for it.

                1. Zeb   7 years ago

Well, it's clearly a parody of the lefties that live in the minds of people like LC1789, so it's not too surprising, I guess.

                  1. loveconstitution1789   7 years ago

Lefties are hilarious. Unless they are trying to round you up into gulags. Or getting rid of straws.

I think I will compose a list of what happen to Citizen X #1-5.

                    1. Citizen X - #6   7 years ago

You don't know what the word "parody" means, do you.

        3. Griffin3   7 years ago

          trolltire?

  18. Tom Bombadil   7 years ago

"Polish President Andrzej Duda is expected to sign a bill today making it illegal to accuse Poles of complicity in the Holocaust"

He went on to prove his point with the following:

How many Polacks does it take to gas a Jew?
Answer: It's impossible, they're all terribly busy trying to change the light bulb.

  19. Incomprehensible Bitching   7 years ago

The economy is a highly complex system, too big and too complicated to leave up to simplistic notions like markets. Therefore, we need government. Now, planning the economy is a daunting task, with many unknowns, and unforseen consequences. However, we do know this:

    1. Government spending is good, because that's the Spending of the People, and if it was bad spending, why would they be doing it?
    2. Deficits and debt are good, because a healthy economy can carry a healthy deficit. And, deficit spending grows the economy.
    3. Tax cuts are bad because taxes are the Taxes of the People, and they increase the deficit, and we all know how bad debt is.
    4. The stock market crash of 2008 was caused by a the repeal of Glass-Steagal, and unless we want a painful reminder of that, we should enact Glass-Steagal, and deficit spend, to save our pensions and retirement plans.
    5. The stock market bubble of the Drumpft is just fat-cat Wall Street billionaires getting rich by exploiting laborers, ultimately leading to a crash that may whipe us all off the map.

Please, Mueller: stop the terror that is Drumpft.

    1. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

      Sarcasmic?

      1. Rhywun   7 years ago

Again, I can't tell anymore. It reads like any of the unhinged lunatics at DU.

        1. Rebel Scum   7 years ago

I just thought some of it read like him when he's being deliberately sarcastic.

          1. Rhywun   7 years ago

Nah, he doesn't make up words.

    2. Incomprehensible Bitching   7 years ago

      6. Hyper Inflation isn't anything to worry about, because it only has about half a dozen possible causes, none of which could happen here in the USA
      7. The Drumpf represents an existential crisis the likes of which the USA has never seen, and could destroy us all

    3. Zeb   7 years ago

You are much better when you keep it shorter and less coherent.

    4. MarkLastname   7 years ago

Nah, to be convincing you have to make urbane-sounding but self-contradictory claims (Krugmanisms, let's call them) like:
      1) Trump's budget deficits are creating a bubble by overheating markets! We need to raise taxes immediate!
      2) If Trump's puppet Powell raises interest rates it'll shoot down aggregate demand causing recession! We need Yellen back to keep markets afloat!

  20. TrickyVic (old school)   7 years ago

Any half decent defense attorney will tell you to keep your mouth shut.

  21. Leo Kovalensky   7 years ago

"Polish President Andrzej Duda is expected to sign a bill today making it illegal to accuse Poles of complicity in the Holocaust."

Just poles? Can I blame posts or rods?
