Given that there are more than seven billion people in the world, can this statistic be used to highlight how small the chance is that a journalist will be thrown in jail? An Egyptian court has sentenced singer Shaimaa Ahmed, known as Shyma, to 2 years for a racy video, “I Have Issues,” that included lots of sexual innuendo featuring a banana.

She was found guilty of inciting debauchery and publishing an indecent film, as she was suggestively eating a banana in the video that was found to be obscene by the court.

The music video director was also sentenced to 2 years.

On her now deleted Facebook page, she wrote “I didn’t imagine all this would happen and that I would be subjected to such a strong attack from everyone.”
