Trump has already fired her a couple of times on his old TV show, so perhaps this was a way for her to say “I quit” and leave on her own terms, instead of taking the elevator ride of shame to a waiting cab like in the old days.

A record 262 journalists are in prison around the world this year, according an annual census by the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Given that there are more than seven billion people in the world, can this statistic be used to highlight how small the chance is that a journalist will be thrown in jail? This will be helpful any time sad journalists want to complain about journalists being thrown in prison by some government or other.

    1. Bacon-Magic glib reasonoid   7 years ago

      Real original fuckface.

      1. $park? leftist poser   7 years ago

Never mind lightning, more likely to be killed by a terrorist than thrown in prison!

    4. Zeb   7 years ago

Probably not without a lot more context. It could be that in some countries, independent journalists are likely to be thrown in jail while those who toe the party line are not, even though the overall number is fairly small, for example.

    5. Rufus The Monocled   7 years ago

      And Obama prosecuted them.

    And, in immigration news:

He’s calling it Illegal Tacos: ‘I know it’s risky’

“I wanted to come up with a name that’s catchy,” said Furxhiu, 32, who emigrated from Albania in 2000. “Some people may be offended, but really, I’m an immigrant, too.” He paused and added: “I know it’s risky.” Alternatively, Furxhiu also extends the meaning to the food ? “so authentic, it’s illegal.”

Furxhiu, who dabbles in real estate and owns a South Philadelphia coffee shop/social club frequented primarily by Albanian emigres, said he was going to open a cheesesteak eatery at the location “but the Mexican idea popped into my head because there are none” in the immediate area.

He has retained the services of Mexican cooks to execute a simple menu of burritos, taco bowls, and rice bowls. Tacos al pastor, in which the meat is roasted on a vertical spit, will be a specialty.

Egyptian Singer Gets 2 Years in Prison for Provocative Banana Video

An Egyptian court has sentenced singer Shaimaa Ahmed, known as Shyma, to 2 years for a racy video, “I Have Issues,” that included lots of sexual innuendo featuring a banana.

She was found guilty of inciting debauchery and publishing an indecent film, as she was suggestively eating a banana in the video that was found to be obscene by the court.

The music video director was also sentenced to 2 years.

On her now deleted Facebook page, she wrote “I didn’t imagine all this would happen and that I would be subjected to such a strong attack from everyone.”

    Hubba, hubba.

The range of his persuasion tactics went from sweet-talking me to that one time when, in an attack of fury, he said the terrifying words, “I will kill you, don’t think I can’t.”

I can’t even fathom how many people have been killed in American by the rich, the powerful, and of course the political, i.e., for all of them: the protected.

I’d beat this man to death given half a chance.

Sounds like a blustering loudmouth who’s bipolar or something.

The rich have a lot more ability to escape justice but also a hell of a lot more to lose. Considering the benefits of murdering someone is almost nothing by comparison to what they already have, I’d doubt they take the chance very often.

Three Florida men seen dragging a shark in a viral video have been charged with animal cruelty.

I didn’t realize “drag” meant behind a motor-boat on plane. Way to bury the lede. But anyway, do you realize what that shark would do to them without even a thought?

    1. Fist of Etiquette   7 years ago

And when do we ever hear about shark authorities bringing charges against their own for attacks on humans. This is a war.
