Wait . . . you’re not suggesting that both dominant parties are peopled with hypocritical morons, are you?

          *head explodes*

          1. Tony   8 years ago

Ah, I see. Your preferred approach to politics is false equivalence. Make you think you’re above it all, does it?

            1. Trollificus   8 years ago

But the equivalence is not false.

The identities of those who purchase whatever bits of governance out Congresscretins have for sale may vary from party to party, but the interests of the citizens are not well-served when laws are written by oil companies, finance industry, teachers’ unions, Big Pharma, trial lawyers or the IP-holding industry. Some of these johns are pretty bipartisan.

You seem to want to make a distinction between whores who do anal and whores who only do vag and blowjobs and insisting one of them is not a whore. Whichever role you want to assign the parties, it requires willful delusion to claim either of them is especially virtuous (or ‘chaste’ in the analogy).

              So, ummm…fuck you?

              1. Tony   8 years ago

The parties believe in and advocate for a nearly totally diametrically opposed set of policies. You thinking they’re equally bad is lazy thinking on your part, not any reflection of observable reality.

      2. BYODB   8 years ago

        My reaction to that news?

What, again? Haven’t I seen this show already?

Six Democrats in the House of Representatives have introduced articles of impeachment targeting President Donald Trump.

Oh, snap, this time there are like 6 of them instead of one coot from California!

        Round 1: Fight!

        1. BYODB   8 years ago

The articles introduced on Wednesday accuse Mr Trump of violating the foreign emoluments clause ?? which bars public officials from receiving gifts from foreign governments without Congress’s consent ? and the domestic emoluments clause, which prohibits the president from profiting from his office.

The Democrats also claim that Mr Trump has undermined two of the country’s most important institutions ? the courts and the press ? in ways that threaten the health of American democracy.

So far, the move for impeachment proceedings is supported by only a small number of Democrats. The calls for removing Mr Trump from office have also created some discord throughout the party.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has called the effort premature amid the ongoing Russia investigations. She has also said that impeachment must be rooted in facts rather than personal opinions about the President

That moment when Pelosi thinks you might be going off half-cocked and comes across as the adult in the room.

There is quite literally nothing on this list that Obama did not also do.

More than that, though? It sets a pretty sexy precedent that the President can be impeached over simple allegations of literally any vague reason!

So, a good thing? The Eternal Impeachment of the President? It could be pretty cool for every President to be impeached the day they take the oath!

“Nice! Especially if the charges are lame and go nowhere. All but guarantees the next Team Blue pres will get similar treatment.”

According to the link, the charges are pretty much “we think Trump is a big poppy-head”, so yeah, they are the same bullshit Steyer has blown millions on and will convince turd, Tony, commie-kid and other mental cases.

        1. BYODB   8 years ago

          Lets see:

Foreign Emoluments? Obama profited from Russian money when he sold Russians his book while in office.

Domestic Emoluments? Did Obama not own any stocks or bonds while President? I’m sure his decisions might have altered the profitability of some companies, right?

Undermine the Courts? Nominated a non-judge to be a literal Supreme Court justice!

Undermine the Press? Controlled his image with the press, and only allowed White House photographers and White House Press Releases while cracking down heavily on any leaks!

Not sure what the fifth issue is, and honestly if these are the first 4 I can find I can’t be bothered to find the 5th. This is a weaker impeachment case than the one against Clinton, by far.

A new planet that could be hospitable to alien life has been discovered oribiting Ross 128, just 11 light years away.

    Build the damn space wall.

    1. CE   8 years ago

Only 11 light years? At 24,791 miles per hour (the average speed of the Apollo spacecraft), we could get there in just 27,053 years.

      1. FreeRadical   8 years ago

I love hearing about planets like this but then I always get a cold dark feeling when I realize that we will not reach them in my lifetime or ever, really. The distances are mind-bogglingly huge.

Regardless, Ross 128b may get too much radiation to support life.

It’s just a matter of propulsion. A constant acceleration of 1 G gets you to 99% of the speed of light in less than a year. We don’t have a power source that can maintain such thrust for that long, but there’s no reason to assume we never will.

Isn’t that just how democracy is done in some unspecified places??

Elections are stolen, then cronyism, nepotism and corruption ensure that only a few benefit and the government can’t really do anything for the people. After the economy (“…based entirely on breaking things, stealing things and begging”) predictably tanks, and when the government runs out of things to steal, it appeals for aid.

When the suppression of opposition parties and political figures become to egregious, or the electoral fraud become to glaring for Western media to finesse; that aid is endangered. THEN the army, possessing the most forceful arguments in African political philosophy, gets fed up and takes over. Elections are promised. I mean, this has happened before, right?

Even Alabamians think Reason.com’s GOP water carriers suck.

Republican Roy Moore is trailing Democrat Doug Jones by 12 points in the Alabama special Senate election, according to a poll conducted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee after five women accused Moore of pursuing them as teenagers.

Jones led Moore 51 to 39 percent, according to the survey taken Sunday and Monday. The NRSC withdrew its support for Moore after the Washington Post published the first allegations against Moore on Thursday, and the group’s chairman, Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) said Moore should be expelled from the Senate if he wins on Dec. 12.

    1. Just Say'n   8 years ago

And none too soon. We need to stop that GOP tax bill and save Obamacare.

      1. Robespierre Josef Stalin Pot   8 years ago

        Principals over principles, right?

        1. Just Say'n   8 years ago

That’s what these GOP shills do. They hate Obamacare because it has his name attached to it, when it is the most free market healthcare plan ever.

          1. John   8 years ago

The GOP has pulled its support for Moore. GOP shills should be attacking Moore. Shills do what the party tells them to. Do you have any idea what words mean before you use them or do you just sort of guess and just put them out there hoping for the best?

            1. Just Say'n   8 years ago

Whatever, John. Your just upset that those yokels in Alabama are going to vote for an actual libertarian versus your Christian Taliban candidate.

              1. John   8 years ago

There is a Libertarian running for Senate in Alabama? Really? I don’t really care who they vote for. it is their business, not mine. But I seriously doubt they are going to vote for a Libertarian. We will see I guess.

                1. Just Say'n   8 years ago

Jones is pro-choice and supports saving Obamacare. That’s more libertarian than any Republican running for the seat

                  1. John   8 years ago

So saving the law requiring people purchase health insurance is “libertarian”? That is a curious definition. Regardless, who gives a shit?

                    1. Just Say'n   8 years ago

                      I trolled you hard

                  2. Chinny Chin Chin   8 years ago

It’s simply lovely that O-care is libertarian because it involves a market. I’m now less worried about going to prison, as I understand there’s a healthy cigarettes-for-tinned-meat trade going on in such places. It’s a libertarian paradise!

                2. SIV   8 years ago

There is a Libertarian running for Senate in Alabama?

Social Conservative-libertarian Judge Roy Moore. He’s gonna win too. Gloria Allred’s “victim” is a total fraud and she’s going to blow up the more meticulously-faked false allegations the Deep State set up.

            2. Robespierre Josef Stalin Pot   8 years ago

Yeah, John, you’re a shill for a pedophile instead of the GOP. Kudos.

              1. John   8 years ago

I don’t believe allegations that are 40 years old and the veracity of which can’t be established. I am a rational human being and not a screaming monkey. You are a screaming monkey and the kind of person who will say or believe anything that supports your politics. In other words, you are a leftist. Good for you. But rationality and intelligence is a lot more fun.

            1. Paulpemb   8 years ago

It forces you to purchase a product, under terms defined by the government, at a price that is subject to government review, but other than that it’s totally a free market system.

            2. Tom Bombadil   8 years ago

It is mandated by United States law. The United States is a “free country”. QED.

    2. John   8 years ago

Meanwhile, polls that come with actual links

Alabama Senate GOP candidate Roy Moore leads his Democratic opponent Doug Jones by 6 points in a new poll amid fallout over decades-old allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore.

Moore leads Jones 49 to 43 percent in a FOX10 poll of likely voters released Tuesday. The poll found that 8 percent of likely voters in the state remain undecided.

      http://thehill.com/homenews/ca…..enate-race

    3. John   8 years ago

The poll you are talking about but fail to link to is a poll conducted by the Republican National Senate Commitee the day after it pulled its funding for Moore. And it is a poll of “registered voters” not likely voters.

The survey was conducted Nov. 12-13 among 500 registered Alabama voters. POLITICO obtained a summary of some, but not all, of the poll numbers.
      http://www.politico.com/story/…..oll-244937

So an organization that is trying to justify its decision not to support Moore took a poll of registered voters the details of which they can’t share with the media and that poll shockingly shows Moore behind.

You really are a fucking moron. It is scary that people as stupid as you are exist.

      1. Robespierre Josef Stalin Pot   8 years ago

John, I’ll take all the evidence that Alabama voters aren’t as morally depraved as you are that I can get, ok? Don’t harsh my mellow.

        1. John   8 years ago

They are not fucking morons who will believe 40 year old allegations that can never be proven one way or another. Yes, the people of Alabama are as a group a lot smarter than you. Pretty much the entire human race is.

          1. Palin's Buttplug   8 years ago

          2. BestUsedCarSales   8 years ago

If he loses are you going to call them all retards?

            1. John   8 years ago

Why would I? Not voting for him doesn’t necessarily mean you believe all this. There are lots of good reasons not to vote for Moore. This just isn’t one of them.

              1. BestUsedCarSales   8 years ago

                Just curious.

                1. John   8 years ago

I find it disappointing that Libertarians are not more skeptical of these accusations and have jumped in with the lynch mob. First, Libertarians have no dog in this fight. What do Libertarians care if the Senator from Alabama is Moore or Jones? Neither one of them is anything approaching a Libertarian.

Second of all, Libertarians should be more skeptical of these sorts of accusations and the desire to pile on an unpopular or controversial person than anyone else. It is the attitude that assumes that Moore must be guilty because a lot of people are saying he is that gets innocent people convicted of very serious crimes. I don’t care what Moore’s politics are, he deserves to be treated fairly and not be railroaded because his politics are not popular in a lot of circles.

Roy Moore is the kind of person that Libertarians once and should pride themselves for defending against the mob. It is easy to stand up for a popular and noncontroversial person. What is hard and shows your integrity is your willingness to stand up for an unpopular person and demand they be treated fairly. Sadly a lot of libertarians are just going along with the mob here. That is disapointing.

                  1. Tony   8 years ago

Why in the god’s honest fuck do libertarians have any business defending disgraced constitution-shitting theocrat Roy Moore?

                    1. John   8 years ago

Good you are an awful morn Tony. You are just a disgrace.

                    2. Tony   8 years ago

I’ll take that as the highest compliment coming from someone whose sole mission in life right now is to defend a child predator who was already the worst person in the country. (But enough about Donald Trump.)

    4. Bubba Jones   8 years ago

This would suggest that undecideds are breaking for Jones, which makes sense.

But the base is sticking with Moore.

      http://www.realclearpolitics.c…..-6271.html

      1. John   8 years ago

If the base stays with Moore, he wins. Alabama is a pretty dark red state. And he was ahead by like 15 points before this. So I don’t think the undecideds would get his opponent over the top.

It also is a question of motivation. How motivated are his opponents’ supporters? I don’t know but this seems to have motivated Moore’s supporters even more than they already were.

    5. Ecoli   8 years ago

Now if Jones can just drown a woman in a swamp, he can become the new lion of the Senate and Democrats will forever swoon.

  8. Palin's Buttplug   8 years ago

What word are they supposed to use instead?

            1. Tom Bombadil   8 years ago

“What word are they supposed to use instead?”

The approved phrase is: ‘this recent unpleasantness’.
However, if it is a white guy shooting into a crowd it is still ‘terrorism’
However2, if it is a white guy shooting a Republican softball team, it is “freedom fighter”.

              1. Longtobefree   8 years ago

Please, the proper phrase is “the late unpleasantness”.
However, it may only be used by genteel ladies of those states who were in the Confederacy, and only to describe the years 1861 to 1865.

I seem to recall Obama actively campaigning in Europe and receiving a large chunk of untraceable contributions online.

        http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..03413.html

In recent weeks, questionable contributions have created headaches for Obama’s accounting team as it has tried to explain why campaign finance filings have included itemized donations from individuals using fake names, such as Es Esh or Doodad Pro. Those revelations prompted conservative bloggers to further test Obama’s finance vetting by giving money using the kind of prepaid cards that can be bought at a drugstore and cannot be traced to a donor.

The Obama campaign has shattered presidential fundraising records, in part by capitalizing on the ease of online giving. Of the $150 million the senator from Illinois raised in September, nearly $100 million came in over the Internet.

The articles of impeachment Mr Green introduced say Mr Trump has “a demonstrable record of inciting white supremacy, sexism, bigotry, hatred, xenophobia, race-baiting, and racism”, which is “fueling an alt-right hate machine and its worldwide covert sympathizers” in a way that is “causing immediate injury to American society”.

Not exactly Declaration of Independence verbiage.

Presuming the former, kind of. It’s political theater, however, it does us well to remember that the president can be impeached for anything, it doesn’t have to be a violation of statutory law.

          ^ This.

          1. John   8 years ago

It seems pretty counter-productive. Voters are pretty fed up with the Republicans in Congress and really have no good reason to show up and support them in 2018. Making the midterms a referendum on voiding the 2016 election will accomplish nothing except give Trump voters a reason to turn out when they likely wouldn’t have had one.

These people are just children. They can’t even control themselves long enough to properly lie to the electorate.

          2. damikesc   8 years ago

As opposed to their alternative, I don’t see how “white supremacy” is appreciably worse than the SJW antifa cultural bullshit.
