The National Park Service is considering doubling and tripling the entrance fees for some national parks.
We found a way to pay for tax cuts!
I was guessing more sin taxes. Smoke up to save America!
All that nature isn't going to manage itself.
I thought it was public land maintained by taxes, much like roads. Oddly enough, I take a toll road maintained by a private company to work every day too.
I suppose the Park Service is just tired of having all those poor people in their own private nature preserve.
What do taxes pay for again?
Overhead
At the more popular parks such as Yosemite, there are scads of tourists from Europe and Asia. I've always thought they could charge much more admission for foreign visitors. As long as it's insignificant compared I their air, lodging, and dining costs, they'd probably gladly pay much more than they pay now.
It's mostly rich people and retirees who go to national parks, and the retirees get a huge discount. Poor people can't afford to drive that far, and they don't own RVs. If they do, they can't afford that much gas for them. They get like 10 mpg. Why didn't they put the parks closer to major cities and airports?
Must be why they have all those annoying public service ads about taking your kids to the forest to catch lyme disease and poison ivy.
A former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for extorting cash and sex from undocumented immigrants.
But mostly for not putting that cash into the ICE coffers.
But only the Bad Hombres?

this is perfect.
Funding sources only matter when we're talking about Big Oil funded climate research.
Or Russian facebook ads.
Is this really a scoop? I heard about this months ago.
It has been common knowledge for anyone paying attention. Maybe this is just the news getting through to people who watch mainstream lefty news.
The National Park Service is considering doubling and tripling the entrance fees for some national parks.
Are they doubling the number of ticks we're all getting inside the park? Are they doubling the amount of nature?
Are they doubling the amount of nature?
If the sun's rays heating the planet count then yes.
25% more dirt and things!
Depends on how people with Tourette's react to the fees.
The bears got to be paid.

Derpbook comments on the NPS pages of parks that will see the fee increases tend towards 'parks are for everybody not just rich people'
Never mind the fact that even at $70, park entrance fees are still going to be the lowest cost part of your trip by a long shot unless you are a local.
The reality is National Park entrance fees are ridiculously low and do need to be increased. For comparison, in 2008 the entrance fee to Glacier was $25 for 7 days. We took a day trip to Waterton Park on the Canadian side and the entrance fee was around $7.50CAN per person per day.
Went to the local park with a friend once. Just to get out of the rural burg and up into the wilderness for the weekend. Unfortunately it was a three day weekend, and horders of Angelinos decided to go see what trees are.
Shit. Damn college girls in one van wanted to go pet the bears. Corporate management types in another camping slot decided that keeping their food in the car trunk would be safe enough. So yes. You had the seen of a bear casually ripping oven a car to get to the bacon while a gaggle of blondes rushed up to take a picture.
We don't need to raise park fees, we need to intelligence tests at the entrances.
I don't know. Sounds like if you're letting less people in you'd need even higher fees to make up for it.
There's been a recent rash of serious injuries at Yellowstone because dumbasses think a 1500-pound bison wants to pose for a selfie with them. Spoiler alert: it does NOT
There is a genre of 'city slicker meets the country' movies for a reason, as it turns out.
It's not recent. Buffalo have been tossing visitors for decades. A lot more injuries from buffalo than from bears. They look slow and peaceful until you rile them up.
And you're complaining about the college students why exactly?
The Senate intelligence committee voted yesterday to advance a bill broadening the power of federal agents to engage in warrantless digital snooping on Americans.
So I guess they probably already know how frustrated, but not surprised, I am by this.
A U.S. appeals court has ruled that federal immigration agents must let a 17-year-old undocumented immigrant in their custody get an abortion.
Unless one of the agents is the father. Parental rights!
That's one way to prevent anchor babies.
Apparently "anchor babies" are only a problem if the woman wants them. Or does being born in a detention center not count as being born on American soil?

"Due to the fact" --> "Since" or "as". Succinctness is good. "Due to the fact" also sounds pretentious.

The Hillary Clinton campaign helped fund the now-infamous "pee dossier" on Donald Trump during the 2016 election, according to a Tuesday scoop from the failing fake news TDS-suffering rag that nobody believes The Washington Post.
Seriously? You posted on something the WaPo came up with? We all know better than to believe a single word those lying liars say.
Oh no. This is REAL news. We know this because they say things critical of Hillary.
On the other hand, news favorable to Hillary is FAKE NEWS. Because we all know nobody really likes Hillary.
It seems to be true. Do you think it isn't? Is the Post lying here? No one seems to be saying that. What do you know that no one else does?
That Dems were behind it was fairly obvious with it being done by Fusion GPS. The other concerns (possible FBI payments, etc) are concerning.
The fact that it came from Wapo means it was probably from the Clinton campaign and DNC, trying to get ahead of it. Having it found out under subpoena would have looked much worse.
Also, Julie Tate is a terrible writer.
You always need to be skeptical of what media says and particularly why.
Why would the WaPo print something that is critical of Hillary? (1) Its to spin the portion of the story that is true in favor of the left (2) the story is coming out anyway and WaPo has the scoop. Might as well make money of it.

A former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for extorting cash and sex from undocumented immigrants.
That may sound rough, but just think when he gets out he'll not only get his job back, he'll get the promotions and pay raises he missed and that seven years of back pay plus interest is going to be quite the sweet chunk of change.
And then he'll retire so we can pay him 7x his salary every year for the rest of his life.
He needs a job as a UN peacekeeper.

" So it's a bit of a gamble to try the daddy play if you're not 100% sure what your partner is into."
The two possible outcomes being she either gets turned on or she kicks you in the balls. By applying decision theory here we see that this is not a good gamble.
A U.S. appeals court has ruled that federal immigration agents must let a 17-year-old undocumented immigrant in their custody get an abortion.

NPR reported this with glee.
The Hillary Clinton campaign helped fund the now-infamous "pee dossier" on Donald Trump during the 2016 election, according to a Tuesday scoop from The Washington Post.
Well, looks like the whole "Russian meddling" thing is a bust.
I never put a lot of faith in the claim, but I was willing to have an open mind about it. Looks like the whole scandal was an inside job after all.
The pee is coming from inside the House?
Trump's got a stream of pee that is going from the White House to the J. Edgar Hoover building now.
Hillary hired Russian agents to create a fake dossier about her opponent and then gave the dossier to the FBI who then used it to obtain FISA warrants to spy on said opponents. Then, after the election, the FBI used the FISA warrants and the dossier to try and undermine the public's faith in the results of the election.
That doesn't sound like a bust to me.
The FISA warrants will eventually be used in an addendum to justify the rest of the dossier, thus completing the circle.
It was an anonymous GOP donor hostile to Trump (rumored to be a JEB! supporter) who first engaged the opposition research firm, the DNC took over paying for the operation once the supporter lost interest. It was John McCain who gave the dossier to the FBI. (To-may-to, to-mah-to, I'm sure, since anybody not 1000% behind Trump is a Hillary supporter so there's no meaningful difference between not liking Trump and being Hillary Clinton.)
The bottom line is the FBI used fake opposition research created by agents of Russia to try and influence and then undermine the results of a US Presidential election. Hillary is yesterday's news. The FBI, however, is not. Everyone in the agency involved in this needs to lose their careers or depending on their actions go to jail. You really can't overstate how big of a scandal this should be for the FBI. Sadly, since all of Washington loves the FBI, it likely will be buried.
I don't know how much of it is actually the FBI, but the perception is there. Either way, they need to start doing their job because the American people are completely losing confidence in them (again).
American people losing confidence in shady government agencies sounds like a win to me.
The American people should always lose confidence in any government agency that is suspect or not doing its job. I'm not victim blaming here.
My point is more along the lines that corruption in law enforcement and the denigration of the rule of law makes it especially bad for everyone.
So, the question turned from: Why did Trump fire Comey do WHY THE HELL DIDN'T HE DO SO EARLIER?
And Mueller should still be dismissed from his position. He is hopelessly compromised.
And why Grandpa Snoozers AG is STILL stonewalling requests for info for this stuff is maddening. What is the benefit in NOT turning over relevant info?
Trump fired Comey to stop the Russian investigation. Trump fucking said it. Why do you need to ask the fucking question or pose it as a question whenever Trump told to your face why he fired Comey. Jesus fucking christ.
He had sufficient cause and, obviously, the Russia thing was BS from the start and he was leaking everything.
That and Comey was an incompetent partisan hack.
From what I've read, McCain might have given the dossier to the FBI but as it turns out Comey already had a copy of it so that wasn't news to the FBI.
Which is another reason to hate McCain. He has a blood vendetta with the First Amendment AND he is a fucking moron.
Where the fuck are you coming up with "Hillary used Russian agents"? Those FISA warrants stand alone on the four corners of the warrant. There was either probable cause or there wasn't. Now that we know Trump was trying to score a real estate deal in Moscow during the time he was sweet talking Putin and willing to trade sanctions for Russian support not to mention that Trump has long cultivated a relationship with Russians we now have enough publicly available information to understand why a warrant would issue. Anyway John good luck with this bullshit spin job it shows how desperate y'all are to shield Trump. You literally need to believe the entire FBI is in on it to buy the story you're selling.
You're aware Hillary had FAR closer ties to Putin than Trump, right?
Trump just wanted to work with him in regards to Syria and not be in a state of near war with Russia.
The probable cause was based on the dossier you fucking nitwit.
John, isn't it odd to see "libertarians" claim that FISA is, in any way, "probable cause" given the insanely high rate of approval of all warrants? They approve, what, 97% of all requests?
And the ORIGINAL request was denied. The dossier is the ONLY reason it was even approved later.
These things seem to be forgotten. FISA originally told Obama no to the request. Something changed to make them say yes. The dossier is the only thing that changed.
What result? The fact that Trump won a convenient few thousand votes in three convenient states while losing the popular vote by the largest margin for a loser in history? What confidence are we supposed to have in this kind of system, exactly?
How boringly predictable that you'd react to today's headline with "Clinton fabricated Trump's Russian ties! Fake news!"
Why are you soiling yourself by so pathetically defending this man? Do you really think history is going to write that Trump was a great president who did great things? Really?
Aw, Tony trying to make up reasons why Trump should not be president. This after Trump kicked Hillary's ass by using the election rules that everyone was aware of ahead of time.
Trump will go down in history as far better than Obama, Boosh, Clinton, Carter, Nixon, LBJ and that is enough for me.
No, because we know who writes the history books.
I don't know about you guys, but I have doubts about stuff being true if lies seem to be the main source of this info.

Isn't this sad? I mean nearly a year after that miserable hag was put out to pasture and pathetic losers like our resident asshole are still trying to count the votes she won in her junior year in the Ugliest Bitch contest. All in the hopes that they won't seem quite as stupid as the rest of us know them to be.
Sad, sad losers.
So, Trump won by the actual rules of the contest and not by a meaningless statistic. Got it.
I'm all for photo ID requirements for voting to fix up the holes. And going to paper ballots to deal with the rest with a required turn in of 1 hour after polls closed to a secure facility.
Yes, citing reality can be "boringly predictable".
CLINTON is the one whose husband's took bribes and whose "charitable foundation" took bribes as she authorized Russia to buy 1/5 of our uranium.
Not Trump, Hillary.
CLINTON'S campaign manager for the entire campaign was a lobbyist for Russia.
Trump fired his guy who was too close to Russia.
I'm a fan of reality. Sorry.
Am I supposed to care?
They're going to try and argue that Obama's administration was not abnormally corrupt in spite of simple reality showing otherwise.

The Constitution strictly prohibits this type of law under the 4th Amendment.
If our SCOTUS had any balls, the moment any president signed something like this into law, the Supreme Court would immediately issue an injunction against this law taking effect.
Hell yeah.
Shame they lack the balls or basic give a shit to do so.

Wait, what the fuck, Trump is raising taxes on park visitors at the very moment he's trying to convince people to cut on rich people? I don't know about everything but the way Republicans operate where I live is they raise taxes and fees on the masses and cut taxes, fees, regs on the super rich. It is fucked up.
I have no problem with those who use the parks paying for the parks with entrance fees. If this increase is due to cuts in funding, great. If it is just more money, then yeah, it is bullshit.
So I take it you're a no income tax guy everybody rich poor pays a sales tax. I'm not. I think rich should pay more but the govt does waste a shitload of money so the rich should pay more but less.
You think the rich should pay for other people's vacations?
I don't think anyone should pay for anyone else's vacations, full stop.
As far as income tax, I'm not really concerned with it either way. We need to cut spending and regulations more than we need to cut taxes. The inefficiencies created by government are much more of an impediment to the economy than tax rates (at least as far as individual tax rates go).
You pay less to maintain the roads then Buffet pays so your vacations by car are subsidized. Most everything you do is subsidized by rich motherfuckers.
Karl Marx has spoken.
I am curious why you think 'the rich' should pay more. Are they using more services than you or I?
"You pay less to maintain the roads then Buffet pays so your vacations by car are subsidized. Most everything you do is subsidized by rich motherfuckers."
What a fucking stupid statement.
That is all.

?The Hillary Clinton campaign helped fund the now-infamous "pee dossier" on Donald Trump during the 2016 election, according to a Tuesday scoop from The Washington Post.
Don't forget that the DNC itself helped as well, and that the former head of the DNC quit to go work for Hillary's campaign. DWS is and was a horrible human being.
"The Hillary Clinton campaign helped fund the now-infamous "pee dossier" on Donald Trump during the 2016 election, according to a Tuesday scoop from The Washington Post."
And the pee dossier was in no small part a function of Russian foreign intelligence.
"Western news media is reporting a possible Russian intelligence purge and mole hunt by Vladimir Putin in December, as a response to the "Golden Showers" blackmail dossier CNN and Buzzfeed reported in January.
According to USA Today, Putin has black bagged and arrested three other high-ranking Russian intelligence officials, as well as the head of the top cybersecurity firm in Russia.
This weekend The Telegraph reports that ex-KGB Chief Oleg Erovinkin was found dead in his Lexus after previously being the top subordinate of Putin's Igor Sechin, an oligarch who runs Russia's state owned Roseneft oil company.
This story is part of the continued fallout from Buzzfeed's release of the "Golden Showers" raw intelligence dossier, which has likely sparked the Russian President's lethal retaliation against one member of his own, inner circle."

Not only did Hillary Clinton, apparently, conspire with the intelligence agency of a foreign government, it looks like people died because of it, too.
