What many people fail to understand is both the Alt-Right (which is a poorly and variously defined; let's limit to the neo-Nazis and white supremacists) and Antifa (which is a well-defined organization of uniformed members) are both comprised of individuals. Each of these individuals has equal rights under law, but the moral worth of the political and social opinions of an individual is unique to the individual. Let's allow that the average evil of Antifa members' opinions is somewhat less evil than the average evil of Alt-Right members' opinions. (After all, communists are really just national socialists minus the explicit racism. Even though racism was a feature of every communist government in actual practice, it is not an ideological selling point of Marxism.) Still, there's a distribution of individual evil about the mean group evil of each organization. The means of the evil of communists' ideas and the evil of Nazis' ideas are pretty close, so there's going to be a lot of overlap in those two distributions of evil. (The center-leftist-authored Black Book of Communism puts its civilian death toll at over 100 million and nobody needs a retelling of how horrendous Nazism was.) However, that does not mean that every individual who identifies with either group is a fountain of pure evil: yes, these are both insanely evil ideologies, but individuals are often deluded by false dichotomies, even well-intentioned individuals.

Hold on there/ Minors can't sign contracts and can't give consent to sex. How can infants be held responsible for their parents bringing them across the border illegally?

I am half-serious. I understand (and agree with) the moral proposition that if some kid has been in this country since infancy, it is immoral to deport them to a country they don't know, whose language they may not know. But I am curious if anyone has ever mounted a legal defense base don minors not being able to break a law they were ignorant, incapable of even knowing about or comprehending, and could not have obeyed under any circumstances.

If parents are busted for meth labs or bank robbery, they put the kids in foster homes. Has anyone ever tried the same logic when parents are deported for crossing borders illegally?

The individuals who signed up for Obama's Dream Act would have their admission they they are illegals used against them. Meaning: they trusted the government, and now they could get fucked. Lesson learned.

Regarding your question: I am sure every legal defense imaginable will be waged against Trump's decision, with judges taking sides on the issue, so it will mostly be a lot of TEAM whining and fighting, with people who did nothing other than exist being caught in the crossfire.

To put on my strict constructionist hat:

That argument would protect them from any punishments for breaking the law. However, deportation to their country of citizenship isn't, legally, a punishment. They are not being punished with exile for violating US immigration law; they are simply being sent back to their legal home.

That they don't know their legal home country or possibly its language is not something the actions of the United States did to them, but something the actions of their parents did to them. And it is not the legal responsibility of the United States to ensure that citizens of foreign countries are not disadvantaged by bad parenting decisions made by their foreign citizen parents, even if those bad parenting decisions strongly disadvantaged them. They can, of course, apply to the government of the country of their citizenship for help dealing with the consequences of the bad decision of their parents.

Any special leniency to illegally-resident aliens because of poor decisions by their parents would not be a matter of their rights, since they do not have a right to US residency under law, but of discretionary policy on the part of the US government, and so outside the purview of the judiciary to order. Judges do not have a warrant to go forth and order whatever they think just; that would be the essence of replacing the rule of law with the rule of men.

Gunfire erupts ahead of J'Ouvert festival

An early Monday shooting left two people wounded ahead of Brooklyn's J'Ouvert festival even as police beefed up security for the dawn celebration that is typically marred by violence.

Gunfire rang out in Crown Heights about 5 a.m. on Union Street between Utica and Schenectady avenues ? a block away from the route of Monday's West Indian American Day Parade on Eastern Parkway.

The city this year shortened the hours of J'Ouvert in an effort to curb the violence that often tarnishes the celebration. The official pre-parade party began at 6 a.m. instead of 4 a.m.
