Brickbat: Shame on Your Name

Nova Scotia's Registrar of Motor Vehicles says Lorne Grabher's last name is "socially unacceptable." Lorne had a personalized license plate made with his last name for his father back in 1991. Since then, the plate has been used by three generations of the family. But the registrar's office say they got a complaint about it last year and have told Lorne he can no longer use it.

But he even knows her!
Worse than slavery.
I'm not sure, but wouldn't the name be pronounced with a long "a," i.e. "Gray-ber?"
Besides, I've actually come across "Raper" as a family name, so these SJWs ought to be thankful this Teutonic family hadn't come to that.
Time for IPA-correct license plates!

There's people here named Boner. And that is how they say it.
Perhaps, but license plates don't include pronunciation guides, so it's not terribly relevant.
Why no, I didn't scroll down to see if I was replying to a multi-post and if there might be another comment down there which overlaps mine, why do you ask?

Well, this is Canada after all. No one there actually expects logic and reason from the government. With this precedent, he can expect to be sued by various clerks who are "offended" by his name on various mandatory forms.
liquor in the front, poker in the rear?
He should ask for POO TEEN, see how that goes.
He should get a plate that says, " MIKE HUNT ".
Maybe the province should pass a law forbidding Alexander Keith's to call its beer an IPA.
