America Called Bullshit on the Cult of Clinton
The one good thing about Trump's win? It shows a willingness among Americans to blaspheme against saints and reject the religion of hollow progressiveness.

If you want to see politics based on emotionalism over reason and a borderline-religious devotion to an iconic figure, forget the Trump Army; look instead to the Cult of Clinton.
Ever since Donald Trump won the presidential election, all eyes, and wringing hands, have been on the white blob who voted for him. These "loud, illiterate and credulous people," as a sap at Salon brands them, think on an "emotional level." Bill Moyers warned that ours is a "dark age of unreason," in which "low information" folks are lining up behind "The Trump Emotion Machine." Andrew Sullivan said Trump supporters relate to him as a "cult leader fused with the idea of the nation."
What's funny about this is not simply that it's the biggest chattering-class hissy fit of the 21st century so far — and chattering-class hissy fits are always funny. It's that whatever you think of Trump (I'm not a fan) or his supporters (I think they're mostly normal, good people), the fact is they've got nothing on the Clinton cult when it comes to creepy, pious worship of a politician.
By the Cult of Hillary Clinton, I don't mean the nearly 62 million Americans who voted for her. I have not one doubt that they are as mixed and normal a bag of people as the Trumpites are. No, I mean the Hillary machine—the celebs and activists and hacks who were so devoted to getting her elected and who have spent the past week sobbing and moaning over her loss. These people exhibit cult-like behavior far more than any Trump cheerer I've come across.
Trump supporters view their man as a leader "fused with the idea of the nation"? Perhaps some do, but at least they don't see him as "light itself." That's how Clinton was described in the subhead of a piece for Lena Dunham's Lenny Letter. "Maybe [Clinton] is more than a president," gushed writer Virginia Heffernan. "Maybe she is an idea, a world-historical heroine, light itself," Nothing this nutty has been said by any of Trump's media fanboys.
"Hillary is Athena," Heffernan continued, adding that "Hillary did everything right in this campaign… She cannot be faulted, criticized, or analyzed for even one more second."
That's a key cry of the Cult of Hillary (as it is among followers of L. Ron Hubbard or devotees of Christ): our gal is beyond criticism, beyond the sober and technical analysis of mere humans. Michael Moore, in his movie Trumpland, looked out at his audience and, with voice breaking, said: "Maybe Hillary could be our Pope Francis."
Or consider Kate McKinnon's post-election opening bit on SNL, in which she played Clinton as a pantsuited angel at a piano singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," her voice almost cracking as she sang: "I told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya." Just imagine if some right-leaning Christian celeb (are there any?) had dolled up as Trump-as-godhead and sang praises to him. It would have been the source of East Coast mirth for years to come. But SNL's Hallelujah for Hillary was seen as perfectly normal.
As with all saints and prophets, all human manifestations of light itself, the problem is never with them, but with us. We mortals are not worthy of Hillary. "Hillary didn't fail us, we failed her," asserted a writer for the Guardian. The press, and by extension the rest of us, "crucified her," claimed someone at Bustle. We always do that to messiahs, assholes that we are.
And of course the light of Hillary had to be guarded against blasphemy. Truly did the Cult of Hillary seek to put her beyond "analysis for even one more second." All that stuff about her emails and Libya was pseudo-scandal, inventions of her aspiring slayers, they told us again and again and again.
As Thomas Frank says, the insistence that Hillary was scandal-free had a blasphemy-deflecting feel to it. The message was that "Hillary was virtually without flaws… a peerless leader clad in saintly white… a caring benefactor of women and children." Mother Teresa in a pantsuit, basically. As a result, wrote Frank, "the act of opening a newspaper started to feel like tuning in to a Cold War propaganda station."
Then there was the reaction to Clinton's loss. It just wasn't normal chattering-class behavior. Of course we expect weeping, wailing videos from the likes of Miley Cyrus and Perez Hilton about how Clinton had been robbed of her moment of glory; that's what celebs do these days. But in the media, too, there was hysteria.
"'I feel hated,' I tell my husband, sobbing in front of the TV in my yoga pants and Hillary sweatshirt, holding my bare neck," said a feminist in the Guardian. Crying was a major theme. A British feminist recalled all the "Clinton-related crying" she had done: "I've cried at the pantsuit flashmob, your Saturday Night Live appearance, and sometimes just while watching the debates." (Wonder if she cried over the women killed as a result of Hillary's machinations in Libya? Probably not. In the mind of the Hillary cultists, that didn't happen—it is utterly spurious, a blasphemy.)
Then there was Lena Dunham, who came out in hives—actual hives—when she heard Clinton had lost. Her party dress "felt tight and itchy." She "ached in the places that make me a woman." I understand being upset and angry at your candidate's loss, but this is something different; this is what happens, not when a politician does badly, but when your savior, your Athena, "light itself," is extinguished. The grief is understandable only in the context of the apocalyptic faith they had put in Hillary. Not since Princess Diana kicked the bucket can I remember such a strange, misplaced belief in one woman, and such a weird, post-modern response to someone's demise (and Clinton isn't even dead! She just lost!).
It's all incredibly revealing. What it points to is a mainstream, Democratic left that is so bereft of ideas and so disconnected from everyday people that it ends up pursuing an utterly substance-free politics of emotion and feeling and doesn't even realize it's doing it. They are good, everyone else is bad; they are light itself, everyone else is darkness; and so no self-awareness can exist and no self-criticism can be entertained. Not for even one second, in Heffernan's words. The Cult of Hillary Clinton is the clearest manifestation yet of the 21st-century problem of life in the political echo chamber.
Mercifully, some mea culpas are now emerging. Some, though not enough, realize that Hillaryites behaved rashly and with unreason. In a brilliant piece titled "The unbearable smugness of the liberal media," Will Rahn recounts how the media allowed itself to become the earthly instrument of Clinton's cause, obsessed with finding out how to make Middle Americans "stop worshiping their false god and accept our gospel."
Indeed. And the failure to make the gospel of Hillary into the actual book of America points to the one good thing about Trump's victory: a willingness among ordinary people to blaspheme against saints, to reject phony saviors, and to sniff at the new secular religion of hollow progressiveness. The liberal political and media establishment offered the little people a supposedly flawless, Francis-like figure of uncommon goodness, and the little people called bullshit on it. That is epic and beautiful, even if nothing else in recent weeks has been.

Shikha hardest hit.
It's okay to make fun of politicians, at least within certain bounds of propriety and in the late-night television venues reserved for this purpose. Some forms of mockery, however, cross the line into rank criminality, and everyone should be careful to avoid using them in any context whatsoever, including politics. Surely no one here would dare to defend the outrageous "First Amendment dissent" of a single, isolated judge in America's leading criminal "satire" case? See the documentation at:

What The Livin Fuck?!?!
I wouldn't want to attend any DC cocktail parties put on by the political establishment.
Besides, this means Brendan isn't beholden to any of them; thus, he's among the trustworthy journalists out there, while most of them just defend more government and the establishment.
He's right about the Hillary cult, and establishment hissy fit. However, Trump supporters (like my brother who said how could he be any worse) that are Hoping for Change (like before), don't seem to realize that what made America great were the freedoms we had, and much of which we've lost (like our free markets - replaced by politically controlled markets via administrative law instead of the free market and common law). And Trump doesn't either.
Have you ever heard Trump say that freedom is what made America great? I haven't.
Now look at what a great America might look like to a billionaire, whose dad built the Trump fortune via buying favors from Democrat politicians in NYC. It would look like law and order, so he doesn't have to deal with the riffraff on the streets of NYC. It might look like it did for his dad, where billionaires can buy government favors, instead of just getting Hillary to show up at his wedding. Or where he can use eminent domain to get people's property below market value for his purposes. I hope I'm wrong.
Trump gave it away on Sunday when he called his interviewing for cabinet posts as "made some good deals." And he loves eminent domain, a term few of his voters recognize. Trump shows we Americans hove gotten the government we deserve.
No mention of the joys of bathing in the sweet, sweet tears of bawling proggies.
My former business partner and still one of my best friends is an old-line, blue-collar Truman Democrat in the Appalachian foothills of southeast Ohio - exactly one of the guys Trump had been aiming to turn. He didn't manage to turn Jerry, but he came close; Jerry cast his vote for Her Imperial Majesty, but did so in the near-certainty that she'd fuck things up. He just reckoned Trump would fuck things up more.
I'm pretty much the same way on the other side.

People are in bags now? I thought that people are in baskets, and that one of those is marked "deplorables."
What about urns and coffins of people? The dead have a well-known liberal bias.
Daddy's got a brand new bag.
All the women are still in binders. Nothing has changed for them since 2012. NOTHING.
"The press, and by extension the rest of us, "crucified her," claimed someone at Bustle. We always do that to messiahs, assholes that we are."
Tell you what, let me pin her to a crucifix for three days then stab her side with a spear. If she dies and rises again, I'll reconsider if she's Light Itself.
It is our fault for failing to appreciate herloftiness enough......
"This appreciation is usually military in nature..."
I suppose it may be too late to add this disclaimer about the comment above but here it goes: I have no intention of attempting any personal harm upon the body of Hillary Clinton nor advocate anyone else doing likewise.
Fuck off, Preet.
We understood what you are saying. You afraid the Feds are listening, or what? I don't think we're to the point where we need to start issuing apologies for our metaphorical attacks on Hillary, "light of the world" that she may be.
"I don't think we're to the point where we need to start issuing apologies for our metaphorical attacks on Hillary, "light of the world" that she may be."
Ha! You're clearly unfamiliar with last summer's subpoena fiasco.
Butts were hurt, US attorneys demanded names, people are now on watch lists. This shit actually does happen from time to time. Google: Preet Reason.com one day and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Here you go....
Then it's safe to say that the folks making these threats will be properly dealt with by law enforcement...won't they?
They want me to pay to read--don't think so
Given the amount of projection concerning mindless True Believers worshipping at the altar of a fatally-flawed Messiah, how incredible it was that anybody could be so blind and brain-washed they couldn't see how much of a fraud and a crook and a liar their candidate was, I have to wonder about all of the hyperventilating about Trump being the one intent on triggering a nuclear war.
"...how incredible it was that anybody could be so blind and brain-washed they couldn't see how much of a fraud and a crook and a liar their candidate was,..."
Vagina, Jerry. It was the only important thing about her candidacy. We need powerful vagina to run our lives (as if it didn't do so already).
They were all Team Players to the end. They had their team and they hated my team. I would respect them if they were not such cry babies.
The problem with having a woman as your team's candidate is that when you lose, you can't even take your balls and go home.
Now that's funny.
YOU'RE SEXIST!!!11!!!1!
ALL CRITICISM OF HILLARY IS SEXIST LIES FROM RUSSIA!!!1!
RUSSIA!!!! *chokes on spittle*
"Maybe [Clinton] is more than a president," gushed writer Virginia Heffernan. "Maybe she is an idea, a world-historical heroine, light itself..."
God Empress! God Empress!
She wants to be God Empress, she better get down with the sandtrout.
But I'm also pretty sure she couldn't see the golden path, maybe Trump was hidden from her vision.
The Bene Gesserit saw the path but rejected the sacrifice to achieve it.
Sandtrout wouldn't touch her.
Just think of all the "YAAAASSS QUEEN" nonsense we'll be saved for the next 4-8 years.
you want it darker: on race, Trump, apocalypse, and the need for more prophets than priests.
...Does it seem like some ancient, primal force of rage and racism has been called out of the pit right now, and is running amuck? Are you in disbelief at the names we are calling each other, and the names we hear ourselves speak aloud toward someone else? There are in fact some very ancient principalities and powers that are being stirred up in the moment, powers that have ruled and reigned in us over 400 years of injustice, slavery, and domination. Things that we thought we pushed underground, but are staring at us all around, now. My friend Anthony Smith of Mission House in Salisbury, NC (the pastor I referenced earlier), says he believes America needs a literal exorcism from 400 years of demonic control. I believe him....
He probably should just kill himself.
"and reigned in us over 200000 (minus 150 or so) years of injustice, slavery, and domination. "
Fixed it for you. Until very recently, slavery and domination was the norm.
BTW hows Mr. Camping doing? It's getting around the time he should be declaring the end of the world isnt it?
BTW hows Mr. Camping doing? It's getting around the time he should be declaring the end of the world isnt it?
He's dead, so if he starts making any further predictions he may actually be worth listening too for once.
Many great points here. Some of The Banana Republic of NA's indirect promotion of the cult of Al Capone is herein evident. Bill and Hillary are two of America's most slime balls ever. Obama's Protection Money Collection will be much less, his timing isn't as fortunate. And, much of the social media is resisting the MSM.
I wish I could jump forward 100 years and see how the Clintons are immortalized. I figure I'll be around to see what Chelsea does, but I expect that in even 10 or 20 years, the Clintons will be recognized as the slimeballs they are, and Chelsea will be tarnished goods.
*Tainted goods. Just has a better ring to it. Useless piece of skin. Unless you're talking about a pig. I believe that's the only example where the perineum is useful, (pork).
These people shouldn't despair. Maybe they can infuse her with enough virgin's blood to keep her going until 2020 so they can run her again. It may sound silly but I really think they've failed to learn any lessons from this debacle at all.
It's not like people aren't trying to give them clues
Phffft. That's white man rage. The same white man as here. A double dose of white man rage. A double dose of delusion. Phffft.
Progressives have simply substituted "white men" for where they used to blame "Jews".
Great article
If you say "Cult of Hillary Clinton" into a mirror three times it conjures up every SugarFree Lovecraftian Hillary story, which you must then read while masturbating.
You put Hillary and Masturbating in the same sentance. WTF.
Fist is the Anthony Weiner of Hit & Run.
Fist is Fredo Corleone?
My morning has been negatively affected.
It makes perfect sense. People masturbating aren't in love w their own genitals. Similarly, nobody's really in love w Hillary. It's just a put-on to put at the center of their circle jerk.
"People masturbating aren't in love w their own genitals"
Um? sure! Me neither!
James Mattis may be Trump's pick for Sec Def, so that should be interesting. Here is a list of a few of his best quotes.
My favorite is one that I live by:
I mean he is a Marine. Did you think those generals from dr. Strangelove and Mars attacks were based on caricatures?
My favorite
You can't handle the truth! ?Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
And you'd better believe this, though Cruise, Moore and Nicholson are too stupid to understand it, Col. Jessup was the good guy in that movie.
Yeah. The guy condoning/covering up a murder was the good guy.
Yet another person that doesn't understand the Corps. Santiago was the weak link in a grunt unit. That's the guy that gets everyone killed.
That's hilarious, foul-mouthed modern Patton as Secretary of Defense. He's in the same category as Curtis LeMay, where you never want him being the one deciding to go to war, but you definitely want him to run the damn thing if you want to win.
Hey! That's my motto!
Sounds pretty good to me.
2. "The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some assholes in the world that just need to be shot."
Some?
The vast majority of assholes in this world will amend their ways when their own mortality is at risk, thus the death of one is an object lesson to many.
"I came in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes - if you fuck with me, I'll kill you all."
Delusional people are always confused when they interact with someone who doesn't share their delusions.
HRC's biggest issue is her difficulty in hiding her contempt for her inferiors.
Not only because it shines through and pisses off people, but because she acts on it, as if she really is above everybody else, immune to peasant laws, and it eventually catches up. It may not end up throwing her in the prison she deserves, but her political life has ended.
The deplorables line cost her the election. At 8 am the next morning there were 2 proud deplorables tshirts on amazon. By evening there were pages of them.
She struck a nerve, and the reflex reaction was to reject Hillary.
At 8 am the next morning
That's like what, 4pm in China? They had all afternoon to get that shit ready, out at 5 baby.
It is not just the "Hillary machine." Friends- well educated, intelligent, nurturing women- that I have basically considered normal all these years have given up reason for this woman. They continue their crusade by being so anti-Trump that every post is illogical, full of negative emotion, fraught with anger, hate and fear. They are sure we are witnessing the end of civilization as we know it and probably the literal end of the world.
When I point out that maybe their time would be better spent doing work that matters, I'm am called out for not understanding that this anger is important because...TRUMP. Their post have basically become evil, a witch hunt that doesn't require any thought, just emotion. And I ask myself, can you have righteous indignation with being righteous?
And how many of them were Bernie, then Stein bots talking about how horrible Clinton was before they turned an about face and were bewildered about how people didn't vote for her.
Pretty much all of them. Good call!
They'll get over it. Barely over a week ago they thought one of their own was poised for a decisive and historical victory that would put a nail in the coffin of the knuckledraggers once and for all. It was all there for the taking-the presidency, the Congress, the Supreme Court, and now it's all gone. It's like your team of choice being favored to win the Super Bowl by thirty points and getting their asses handed to them-people will be upset.
So Trump is the NY Giants and Hillary is the Patriots?
More like the NY Vagiants.
Huxley nailed it:
"The surest way to work up a crusade in favor of some good cause is to promise people they will have a chance of maltreating someone. To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior 'righteous indignation' ? this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats."
Yep, it's almost as if one side was playing for their very lives and future and the other was lacing up their boots getting ready to stomp on human faces, forever.
It's all a conspiracy of lies. They don't believe a bit of it, they just think they're fooling even their friends.
. And I ask myself, can you have righteous indignation with being righteous?
The nazis and commies did.
I think you mean some of America. Because 10s of millions of apparently morally apatheic americans vited for her.
Michael Shannon: 'If you're voting for Trump, it's time for the urn'
..."There's a lot of old people who need to realize they've had a nice life," he continued. "And it's time for them to move on. Because they're the ones who go out and vote for these assholes. If you look at the young people, between 18 and 25, if it was up to them Hillary would have been president. No offense to the seniors out there. My mom's a senior citizen. But if you're voting for Trump, it's time for the urn."
When the interviewer confessed their parents had voted for Trump; Shannon swiftly responded, "F*ck 'em. You're an orphan now. Don't go home. Don't go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Don't talk to them at all. Silence speaks volumes."...
Kneel before Zod.
Parody maybe? Hopefully so because I like his work.
Young people lean left because they have little or no skin in the game. Their taxes are manageable because they don't earn much. Their expenses are low because they live with their parents or with roommates.
Oh, and young people are stupid. This notion that wisdom decreases with age is an invention of the left.
Young people lean to apathy and not voting actually. Of those that voted, young people were the strongest demographic for Johnson as well.
No. If it were up to them, Bernie would be President.
Ooh, Bern!
If you look at the young people, between 18 and 25, if it was up to them Hillary would have been president.
I wonder why that is?
Well he's on the do not watch list. Oh and his portrayal of Zod was complete shit...
The FBI tells us piracy is not a victimless crime.
Under the circumstances that's not a bad thing.
Utopia is always only a few million corpses away.
What's special about 18 to 25 year olds that means they should decide? Why not let the three year olds determine who leads the country. They're going to have to live much longer with the consequences than the 18-25 set.
Silence speaks volumes."...
Especially when they cut you out of the will for being such a self-righteous asshole.
If I'm Trump, the first thing I do in office is go to Congress to ask for a 95% surtax on the entire Hollywood/media complex--any income or revenue over, say, $100,000 a year gets fleeced for Uncle Sam. Trump might even be able to pay for all those ROOOAAADDZZ he wants to build.
Hey, that's our line.
I thought we were irrationally informed.
I'm intentionally misinformed
I supported Trump not because of his policy genius (lol) but because he blew political correctness out of the water. He showed that people could be offended but they are resilient. Hillary promised us free college and healthcare thinking that would easily get her enough votes to win. She forgot that this is America and we want to earn things ourselves. Why? Because we no longer need to continue propagating an underclass to do our work. We have enough already. As a great man once said, "Take thy penny and be on thy way."
Ha, I knew it. No one is as crazy as you were pretending to be.
Oh honey. Hold on tight - it's gonna be a wild ride.
"Buckle up, Buckaroos!"
Please be a hot redhead...it would sort out everything.
Have a listen.
RE: America Called Bullshit on the Cult of Clinton: New at Reason
Hillary Clinton's defeat shows a willingness among ordinary Americans to blaspheme against saints and reject the religion of hollow progressiveness.
We all should have recognized Hillary's holiness when she walked across the Mississippi river and turned Lake Michigan into wine.
She turned half the country into whine.
Boom! goes the dynamite.
Lena Dunham covered in hives, aching in the places that make her a woman. Gee, thanks. No, salty tears don't work as well as lotion.
Salted cod tears.
Bottarga Tears
This seems to me a tacit admission that biology determines gender, and not simply what a person truly believes they are. This quote should be spread to every trans person in America.
Lena Dunham had lady parts???
Wait a minute, I thought she was Michael J Fox?
Tom Kratman on the protesters in the street:
"You're just so much better educated than the knuckle-dragging high school graduates of flyover country! Surely their votes shouldn't count! Surely, at least, yours should count for more!
No, you are not educated; you are propagandized. Propagandization is the exact opposite of education. You have not been taught to think; you have been told what to think and taught not to think. Your skulls have been filled to the brim, as mentioned above, with left wing professorial shit. Not only should your votes not count for more; you should not be allowed to vote at all. You're not mentally fit for the responsibility. As for the high school graduates of flyover country, no, they don't have your sheepskins, and precisely because of that, because their native intelligence and talent have, unlike yours, not been suppressed or eradicated, they are in every way more fit for citizenship and its responsibilities, to include voting, than you are. They're not, for example, dumb enough to vote for politicians and policies that will leave their children with a standard of living comparable to that found in Bangla Desh or Haiti. You people, on the other hand, are just that dumb."
I think he goes way too far in completely dehumanizing them, but in general he sums up the college ideologue mentality really well.
Well if each side persists in dehumanizing, we'll definitely sort this out. Problem is the little fuckers calling for war won't touch a gun... gonna tough to win your hot culture war just firing words at people...
The wisdom of today's college educated yutes
Hillary Clinton is the Millenial version of Ted Kennedy. Each had a magical family name, each was worshipped by true believers, neither will ever reach the White House.
Hillary killed more people.
+1 clown car on the Quinnipiac.
We should understand that the left bullying Americans through forced perspective isn't just how they get Presidents elected--it's their whole reason to exist. And it isn't just journalists on the left; it's musicians and actors, too. In their minds, pushing the left's worldview is the whole purpose of entertainment.
Brad Pitt made a zombie movie about a hero who abandoned his career to become a stay-at-home dad so his "partner" could have a career, too. He agonizes over whether going back to work to save the world is fair to his "partner"!
Angelina Jolie made a movie for children about how princesses don't need a man.
Michelle Shocked can't get the time of day from the entertainment industry since coming out of the closet against gay marriage. Meanwhile, Bruce Springsteen wants to bully America into trans bathrooms by spurning North Carolina like it was South Africa under apartheid?!
The left losing their power to bully the American people is probably worth crying about.
Just because America voted for Trump, however, after he was denounced by the left for racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and sexual assault, that doesn't mean the American people have stopped caring about racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and sexual assault--it's just that we're no longer so easily manipulated by the left's platitudes on these things.
If I could no longer control the government just by calling people names, I might cry, too.
The American people voted for Trump for the same reason the Palestinians voted for Hamas-the competition was utterly corrupt and terrible. Doesn't mean they're all terrorists, doesn't mean we're all racists.
Marry me.
Sad!
You've misidentified it. There is no cult of Hillary. Those people are a cult of themselves. They're not enamored of HRC in the least, they just take her as the happenstance focus of their cult of themselves. If it'd been that bum who stank up the public library in Morristown, that would've been just as suitable for them if he'd been nominated for POTUS. (I was going to write, "If it'd been Charles Manson," then remembered he actually had a cult.) They'd've pretended w the same vigor that he was the light being or whatever.
"It's all incredibly revealing. What it points to is a mainstream, Democratic left that is so bereft of ideas and so disconnected from everyday people that it ends up pursuing an utterly substance-free politics of emotion and feeling and doesn't even realize it's doing it."
Even when they try to say something of substance, it misses.
Do they have any idea how "equal pay for women" sounds to a coal miner in Pennsylvania?
Do they have any idea how "equal pay for women" sounds to a laid-off factory worker in North Carolina or Ohio?
I'll give you a hint: It sounds like a white collar problem.
It sounds like you care a lot about whether women architects are getting paid as much as their male counterparts.
But does the left realize how dismissive "equal pay for women" sounds to the concerns of coal miners and laid off factory workers?
What was it they called it when Obama got elected? Something about a mandate or something because he won?
The commenters over at places like media matters are so angry, and are saying there is no mandate cause something something popular vote. One was even going so far as saying they would push someone down an elevator shaft and another would be a false witness. Folks like these are the one's that hide behind politicians and advocate violence so they don't have to engage in the act and don't have to face consequences.
This story is BULLSHIT.
I can't wait for you Trumpsters find out you've been conned.
This guy's only interest is to put Trump towers all around the World, and to line his pockets, and gain power.
He's not taking a salary so when he is finally exposed
His excuse will be "I haven't took a dime".
How can a Burger king worker pay more taxes than the
President?
Hillary isn't an innocent angel, but I have a lot more trust in her than the Con-man.
Your President is a Racist, Sexual predator, egotistical
Crybaby that will serve Russia interests well.
He ran for President to build Trump Towers around the world? Diabolical!
Thank you for providing an example of the hyperbolic delusional freakouts people are having over Trump, and why no one is taking the childish screeching of people like you about 'My/Your President' seriously.
My president...your president...who gives a shit...any way you slice it in 2 months Trump is going to be The President of the United States.
Really for stu, John.
Still a good point, the 'NotMyPresident' movement just shows how pathetic the Cult of the Presidency is. The President is just the title of the individual who wins the plurality of the electoral college and assumes control of the executive. That's all, it's not some position meant to be adored or worshiped. Drunks, racists, cheaters and the corrupt have all held the position. But somehow it's a sanctified office.
I love watching the assholes waving Mexican flags shouting "Not my President". You're right he's not your fucking President. Ditto the morons marching in Vancouver. Yep Not your President either.
Exactly my Point,
Anyone that has a plan, and no one has a clue of the plan, how will it be paid for, one who claims to know more than everyone else?
That ought to raise some serious concerns.
This is the beginning of something that we'll all
Suffer from.
I hope it can all be fixed by the 46th president.
Except your concerns are not serious concerns, they're childish Chicken Little freakouts. Here's a hint Stu: when your rants sound like someone who wears a sandwich board in Times Square you're probably not rational enough to have a point.
Do you have the chords for this one? I think it was in D.
"Disco Stu likes disco music."
"Exactly my Point,"
No, it wasn't, you lying sack of shit.
"I hope it can all be fixed by the 46th president."
Lisa Simpson is up to it!
Wait 'til you find out that we're libertarians--not Trumpsters.
Wait 'til you find out that the reasons people rejected Hillary were perfectly legitimate.
"In all, governments and corporations involved in the arms deals approved by Clinton's State Department have delivered between $54 million and $141 million to the Clinton Foundation as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments to the Clinton family, according to foundation and State Department records."
"Hillary Clinton Oversaw US Arms Deals to Clinton Foundation Donors"
Mother Jones
http://www.motherjones.com/pol.....arms-deals
Hillary Clinton accepted money from Qatar, Algeria, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia--when as Secretary of State she had the authority to approve or reject arms sales to those vicious dictatorships. According to the Clinton Foundation, she also accepted millions from the defense contractors with pending sales to those countries: Boeing, General Electric, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, and United Technologies.
Hillary Clinton abused public office to enrich herself and her family. She's a crooked politician.
Preach it, brother! The world is black and white. There were no other candidates on the ballot and we were all rooting for the evil one.
Two teats where your eyes should be, delivering sweet nectar unto me.
Not a Trump supporter but your comment literally gave me an erection. There's something to be said for pissing off the right people and if Trump can manage to avoid screwing the pooch too bad the next four years are going to be beyond sweet.
Yawn. Screed.
What is bullshit, is progressives, etc. pushing off their beliefs as compassionate. If your neighbor broke into your house and robbed you to pay for their families healthcare at gunpoint, you would scream bloody murder.
Yet your obsession with a blatant criminal in a pantsuit who's already proposed robbing people to pay for other people's college is a great thing. Did your heart beat fast after hearing Bernie talk about "free" everything, and huge tax increases? Do you reward your store or business that fails to deliver what you want, with MOAR money?
You sit back and wish government would do the things you're scared or uncomfortable doing yourself. These include force, theft, coercion and violence. Nothing about Hillary, or you is compassionate.
Lmao.
Thx I needed that
''Excellent piece. Spot on. I'm so glad America saw through all the bullshit. Now if only the fucking Clinton's will take a hint and disappear forever.
The plan was to have Chelsea run for something.
It's hard for the Clinton Foundation to peddle influence when there's no Clinton in a position of influence anymore.
When the Clintons were running the DNC, it would have been easy to push Chelsea into a safe seat (just like they did with Hillary), but the Clintons aren't running the DNC anymore either.
Cher has more qualifications than Chelsea Clinton.
Moobs isn't getting any younger.
I doubt Mid East despots are going to be making "donations" in the eight figure range to someday influence a back bencher state Senator from Long Island. Those people are degenerate cut throats but they ain't stupid. Which, btw makes me wonder how long before they try to get even with the Clintons for scamming them.
Hillary started out as the First Lady.
Having control of the DNC meant Hillary could shoehorn herself into a safe Senate seat.
Hillary parlayed that into coming in second for President and a gig as Secretary of State.
In single party states like New York, winning the primaries decides who wins the election, and the party itself decides who will and who won't run. Deciding who runs decides the primaries.
If the interests that run New York tell their Democratic party apparatchiks in the police department, fire department, in the city, Wall Street, Albany, etc. that Chelsea Clinton will be the next U.S. Representative from Manhattan--then that's what Chelsea will be.
If Hillary were President, she would have total control of the DNC again--and two years to get Chelsea into a safe seat. Chelsea may have had six years to make a name for herself. She wouldn't have to run for President in six years--only become a legitimate threat to run or work herself into a position with leverage over something like foreign arms sales.
Honestly, dude, i think that idea is sillier than "Michelle running for president"
Incidentally, this isn't my idea.
Here's the Washington Post talking about why Chelsea bought where she did--so she could represent that district--back in 2013.
http://tinyurl.com/zdkkqus
Here's an article talking about how Chelsea was using her mother's fundraising events to cue up her own run.
http://tinyurl.com/jaandkm
That's what the Clintons do for a living. They leverage elections and offices to enrich themselves. That's all they do for a living. They have political operatives who sit around the Clinton Foundation offices all day trying to think up new and better ways to get Chelsea into office.
Now that Hillary is no longer a threat to be President and they no longer control the DNC, that dream may be gone with the wind. But if Chelsea ends up in the House, who knows? It's not like there are a lot of other high profile Democrats ahead of her with better financing.
I bet Chelsea could get 40% of the national vote tomorrow against Trump.
But I'm not sure she can elbow her way into a safe seat anymore. There are competing interests. It's just that they do what they're told when the President's daughter and the people who control the DNC are giving the orders. Now their reaction is likely to be, "Chelsea who?"
I'm no fan of Chelsea, but if IRC, she was the only Clinton raising issues with the corruption and illegality of the Clinton foundation.
Probably should have mentioned that this is not the first time the Democrats have imitated the adorning throngs from "The Life of Brian." Remember Obama, aka "The One"? Actually, they appear to be much more prone to a cultic hero worshipping than the Republicans.
He was just the light bringer, not light itself.
Republicans prefer their heroes to be dead, and therefore beyond the ability to embarrass them in the present.
In terms of a crowd that picks emotivism over rational thinking based on facts, I think the people who cry "racist" in the general direction of anyone who disagrees with them take the prize.
You can say that again! Person A, who calls Person B a racist, because Person B thinks that Asian nail salon protests are probably organized by Competitive Enterprise Institute flacks is an incredibly mendacious and emotional prick.
Your President was on twitter begging for an apology.
(How pathetic is that). Never seen a future commander & chief stoop so low. He should be tending to the people's business as he promised (wink-wink)
1. Bringing all the jobs back.
2. Building the wall, and making Mexico pay for it
3. Cleaning the swap, not putting them in his administration.
The superpower as we know it is over.
A lost and confused internet troll is about to run the
Country. (Yikes...)
Yes. America suddenly stops being a super power because Trump. Of course, I don't expect you to see the cognitive dissonance in display here.
Yes, I'm gonna marry a carrot.
Hey Stu, go fuck your mother.
Such nastiness,
You're just like your President!
It's not worth it trying to have a reasonable discussion with the likes of you and ridicule is all you deserve. On a side note, if you're AM in disguise, good job.
The truth hurts, "You've been Conned"
We will all get to see for ourselves. The difference between you and I?
I'm going to call it what it is!
You all will make excuses for your President.
Like with all the crazy stuff that has came out of his mouth thus far.
It embrasses me ( as an American)
You're proud to look like what he is turning this country into. ( A joke)
You're only proving my point Stewie. Carry on.
#NotMyPresident. But then again, neither were any of the others, because I don't define myself by some psychopathic authority figure that I never even met.
Oh yeah.
Hillary wouldn't have been nasty, rude or vicious.
Her past has shown that many times.
I'm sure if she was president she would've cured leprosy, have the moon grow vegetation, raised the dead, removed demons and turned all violent criminals into saints.
We've should've all picked up on that as she descended into heaven and received another Ten Commandments.
' raised the dead'
The dead have been voting democrat, so she has that covered.
As soon as he's done with Gilmore's.
huh? what did she do this time?
She voted for Hillary.
Twice.
Perhaps you should wait until he's actually in office before complaining that he's not 'tending to the people's business'. So, you know, you look less like a moron.
Your President was on twitter begging for an apology.
I believe you meant "our President," since, like Obama, everybody in the U.S. gets to experience the consequences of his decisions. Enjoy!
On a related note, I'm taking a couple of months off of Facederp. Being a Canuck, I've been largely insulated from the wackiness that's followed the U.S. election, but one of my closest Canadian friends has simply gone off the deep end and turned into an angry, unthinking robot regarding Trump, and is talking about how we all need to "resist" him. It's distressing to watch ? he's the smartest person I know, and in previous elections was pretty capable of analyzing the results dispassionately and with appropriate reflections on the points of all sides. Something's changed (as he obliquely admitted himself in a post yesterday). He's always been a little bit of a monomaniac about various things; perhaps this is spilling over into an increasing engagement with politics.
I haven't responded to him because I've seen this kind of behaviour before in other contexts. He may be immune to argumentation and rational analysis of what's happened for quite awhile until the chem-storm in his pre-frontal cortex calms down somewhat.
Watching him go off the rails is, well, disturbing ? and drives home the point to me that almost anyone can become unhinged over stuff the rest of us might shrug off.
Obama is the current president, there is no other.
I sure hope so. That's one of the reasons many people voted for Trump.
Hey Stu, first he isn't president yet. Your right, being on Twitter is much worse than say going on ESPN or reading Twits on Jimmy Kimmel. I mean he should be on the golf course right?
Last I checked - Trump actually went to LA first for the Flooding and shamed the President into going. Your Goddess didn't go at all. Who was more presidential?
I mean the Hillary machine?the celebs and activists and hacks who were so devoted to getting her elected and who have spent the past week sobbing and moaning over her loss. These people exhibit cult-like behavior far more than any Trump cheerer I've come across.
The absolute best part of the entire nightmare which was "election 2016" was the crowd cam at the Javits Center, and the shots of Hillary's weeping acolytes.
Ya I saw a bunch of bitches that looked like they needed some cum therapy
I'm pretty sure I saw a lot of them in the educational video, "I Swallow, #152."
Correct me if I'm wrong.
And that's why it didn't have nearly the appeal that #151 had. In that genre you don't want to really pretend about her sensibilities
Good article. Spot on in my view.
Hey, 'member those videos that went up by people apologizing to the world for electing Bush? I 'member.
Have they gone this far or are they too busy in their irrational meltdown to bother?
Speaking of member berries they strongly hinted at them being full on Nazis in the last episode. I expect more from Southpark than that. Full Godwin if that's where they go.
I think they had a whole storyline with Hillary that got nuked by Trumps win.
I agree but points to Matt and Trey for "my penis feels a little dry"
If we could exchange 2 Shikha articles a week for 2 O'Neill articles a month, i think we'd be getting a great deal.
Not since Princess Diana kicked the bucket can I remember such a strange, misplaced belief in one woman, and such a weird, post-modern response to someone's demise (and Clinton isn't even dead! She just lost!).
*outright, prolonged laughter*
Aw, they just wanted a princess.
"Not since Princess Diana kicked the bucket"
Too soon
So I am gonna go to Starbucks to get a #TrumpCup, because I really want to know what it's like to cup someone. Except, instead of telling them my name is Trump, I am gonna say my name is Mr. Garrison. What are some other good Starbucks names?
Queequeg, Ishmael, Ahab, Moby
Baal, Lucifer, but Trump is still above those names
That's why (they)voted for Him.( Your new President)
You've been Conned......
Godwinning is for pikers. This guy goes straight for the gold.
You know, this is getting a solid 6/10 on the strength of commitment to the theme. It's a little dry yet, and I can't tell if the formatting is artistic or lack of familiarity with technology, but I'm willing to see where this goes.
I'm glad you pointed that out.
I always wondered who was whispering gentle thoughts when I was thinking about buying a condo in Trump Towers.
Now I know.
'Then there was Lena Dunham, who came out in hives?actual hives?when she heard Clinton had lost. Her party dress "felt tight and itchy." She "ached in the places that make me a woman."'
I'm pretty sure that's just fat-girl chafing.
Running Chelsea for any office would be a boon to anyone that ran against her. She has her mother's charisma and Kanye West's grasp of the issues.
Because of her parents, she's a product of the 1960's and like most progressives, she's oblivious to any post Woodstock ideas. She's a 70 year old mind in a 35 year old body.
That just makes her Elizabeth Warren with a more patrician lineage: still dangerously attractive to socialistas
America Called Bullshit on the Cult of Clinton: New at Reason
Hillary Clinton's defeat shows a willingness among ordinary Americans to blaspheme against saints and reject the religion of hollow progressiveness.

Had my hopes up for a minute there.
I dunno. If I were going to join a cult of personality, I think I'd pick someone one who actually had one.
Hillary has the finest personality that money and electronics can buy.
They messed up the Three Laws with her.
Both of the personality of Lucifer.
But at least they're interesting.
You have to give them that.
I see no evidence of love or worship of Hillary Clinton here. Still if we pretend there is, we can squeeze a column out of it.
Another of the dead that Hillary has raised.
Some of us question the sincerity of those half-hearted celebrity endorsements. You seem to take them at face value and actually believe there is a cult who love and worship Clinton. Sucker born every minute.
So is it "half-hearted" when celebrities vow to emigrate if Trump wins, or offer blowjobs for Hillary votes... or is it "half-hearted" only after they welsh on their promises? If the latter, it's going to be difficult to isolate anything the glitterati do that isn't half-hearted.

Sorry about that.

Point of order. This is what happens when you fantasize that your reproductive organs are perfectly synced to your inner feminist higher spiritual being. A more likely explanation is endometriosis flare-up.
/reality called and said Dunham should take her pills
The main symptoms are pelvic pain and infertility.
We can only hope, for the good of the species.
"She is...light itself."
The hillarity continues. They are truly beyond parody.
"They are truly beyond parody."
No they're not.
Nice article, O'Neill. I enjoyed that thoroughly.
Remember when Kim Jong Il died, lots of N Koreans upheld him to be a god like figure. Granted, they to a certain degree were fearful of not mourning enough for him and raising the ire of the state, but it goes to show the dangers of revering someone to such a degree.
To blindly follow anyone is disgusting and a slippery slope.
This is definitely the upside to Trumps victory.
Not clear on who you're referring to as following blindly
I'm not a Hilary Fan, but she was by far the better candidate to not do anything stupid for 4years.
Until we could select a more qualified President.
We're the laughing stock of the world,
Will we recover from this?
I hope your President doesn't start something
That's irreversible...
Not based on her political program, her past performance, or her long list of failures.
The European and Asian intelligentsia always laughs at the US; they really ought to worry more about their domestic problems, which are serious indeed.
"We're the laughing stock of the world,
Will we recover from this?"
We recovered from Obama.
We'll recover from Trump.
"To blindly follow anyone is disgusting and a slippery slope."
Oh, I don't know.
There are few good looking porn stars I'd follow blindly.
How anyone has been able to see this election as anything other than "widely disliked candidate runs inept, overconfident campaign, loses to other widely disliked candidate" is beyond me, but the wailing over Hillary's loss has just baffled me. It was disturbing to see the left turn Obama into a Messiah figure, but Obama at least had genuine charisma.
I've particularly been enjoying the post-event exhibition game by the sore losers: trying to eliminate the Electoral College via online petitions; screaming at social media companies to ban "fake news," aka news that doesn't churn out regular hagiographies of Hillary Clinton; harridan-shrieking at third-party voters; wailing about how it's Russia's fault that everybody hates Clinton's lying fucking guts. ROFL.
Funny, they had no problem going after and accepting the votes of the "dark age of unreason," from the "loud, illiterate and credulous people," when said people voted for Democrats. Prime examples are many of my relatives from Minnesota who voted for Trump but have never voted for a Republican before.
Week 2 of trumpegeddon brought me these 2 exchanges:
- a 40ish Hispanic single mom I'm friends with told me she voted for trump. She's afraid to tell her parents or anybody at work.
- a cute white female bartender at a bar I frequent told me that hate crimes are up 1000%. She had a look of fury on her face that was hard to fathom.
Both of the above occurred with no prompting from me.
Your President was on twitter begging for an apology.
Obama wants me to apologize? For what?
Never mind, he won't get one. Tell him to go fuck himself.
I'm happy that the Clinton machine is now a pile of rubble and have been enjoying the misery of progressive pundits. Of course the trouble with exchanging Leftwing Statism for Rightwing Statism is that we're still gonna get fucked either way. And looking at Jeff Sessions we're about to get good and hard particularly on civil liberties (Criminal Justice, Surveillance) and Drug policy (State Marijuana legalization, etc.)
"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."
- H.L. Mencken
L. Ron Hubbard Cult? Don't be silly!
They aren't going to figure it out. Watch how emotional they get about Obama leaving. His cult is at least as strong, and is helped by the fact that he can actually come across as likeable to a lot of people. They just need a new cult leader, not serious introspection about their message and ability to deliver it
I thank Matt Drudge for bringing me hetr to this article. I subscribed. This was very well written. But he should love Emperor God Trump. He did the impossible. Ted Cruz would have been our President if Trump did not step up. Noone could have taken his place. He is the only one that can stop this evil in Washington Dc. Look up #pizzagate
Thank You Brendan.
The western world is in agreement.
WTH are youse guys talking about?
I still love that the Goddess Empress didn't even have a speech for her followers when she lost. Just sent them all home.
I do wonder how the Secret Service sees this. They despised her. What do they think of the Trumper?
I get Paid over ?80 per hour working from home with 2 kids at house. I Never thought I would be able to do it but my best friend earns over ?9185 a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless.

For God's sake, let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings;
How some have been deposed; some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed;
Some poison'd by their wives: some sleeping kill'd;
All murder'd: for within the hollow crown
That rounds the mortal temples of a king
Keeps Death his court and there the antic sits,
Scoffing his state and grinning at his pomp,
Allowing him a breath, a little scene,
To monarchize, be fear'd and kill with looks,
Infusing him with self and vain conceit,
As if this flesh which walls about our life,
Were brass impregnable, and humour'd thus
Comes at the last and with a little pin
Bores through his castle wall, and farewell king!
Cover your heads and mock not flesh and blood
With solemn reverence: throw away respect,
Tradition, form and ceremonious duty,
For you have but mistook me all this while:
I live with bread like you, feel want,
Taste grief, need friends: subjected thus,
How can you say to me, I am a king?
Hee! Hee! HA! HA! HA! As a libertarian who saw Trump as better choice than the fake, easily offended, PC Johnson, the tears of these fanatical, bully, butt wipes are delicious. I will admit part of the reason why I voted for Trump was out of pure spite and it paid out handsomely! To see these egotistical, elitist, nitwits fly into hysterics made me not regret voting for him. Sure I voted for Trump because he wanted to talk to Russia instead of turning them into nuclear ash like Hitlery, sure I voted for him because of tax policy, and stopping illegal immigration. I know the "Reason" crowd gets butt hurt over immigration but I don't care, as much as Nick and the gang want to poo poo Uncle Milt's "You can't have unfettered immigration with a welfare state" they never tried to refute the claim, and Uncle Milt is right in this case, I'd be all for open borders if we had sacrosanct property rights and no welfare state but I don't see that happening anytime soon. So in closing I got my main electoral wish and that was to see the insane, control freak left lose their collective shit and go into crying hysterics and if they continue to do this I'll vote for Trump again out of spite even if he doesn't deliver on policy issues.
Yeah Reason writers have studiously avoided saying anything nice about Trump, I suspect because they want to have writing careers beyond Reason, where they write for the likes of Forbes, Bloomberg, Time, etc, and they're afraid if they say something nice they'll torpedo that.
As a Libertarian, given the choice between two distinctly non-Libertarians, I found Giant Douche the least incompatible when compared to that droning, statist, more-government-for-all Turd Sandwich.
Brendan, though, has deviated from the norm, here. It looks like there may be a market for articles about liberals losing their shit. There's a lot of that, and oh about 49% of the people will enjoy it and the other half will lose their shit about it, but with many clicks and downstream shit-losing. Good going. Good times.
Welcome, Drudge readers, by the way.
The next article should be titled something like "Hate Trump? Now, You Understand Why People Want Smaller Government." Trump is the perfect argument to the left that federal power should be distributed back down to the local level, and this is why we have all these fundamental protections in the Bill of Rights. Do you fear that Trump is going to do something awful to you? This is why you reduce the power of the President. This is exactly what checks and balances prevent. This is why you don't give power to the President you agree with because the other side might be sitting behind the desk in a few years. This is the moment that Reason and other like-minded people can capitalize and show exactly why small limited government matters, especially when it is your side that controls it. We have an opportunity to convince a lot of people. The fear is very forefront in their minds.

What a great column. Thank you for putting into words what at least half of the U.S. electorate feels. This election was not a racial divide or a phobic response by neanderthals as sobbing liberals would have the world believe. The defeat of Hillary Clinton was all about rescuing an exceptional nation that has been badly damaged and degraded by eight years of far left individuals who dislike and disrespect the virtues of this unique nation. Obama is a product of the Vietnam-era left who have never moved beyond the 1960s. Also, you are correct in associating the liberal reaction to Clinton's loss to the death of a religious icon. Many liberals I know are either atheist or agnostic at best and cannot fathom even the possibility of anyone more intelligent than they are - much less a Higher Power. I have come to the conclusion that believing in a purpose or cause larger than ourselves is a basic part of human nature. Politics is one of the few acceptable choices for liberals to believe in (besides themselves). Hence, the response to the political demise of Hillary Clinton. What else could explain the unprecedented public emotional meltdown of so many people over an election loss? The Golden Calf has been exposed. Pay no attention to that woman behind the curtain.
Hillary Clinton is NO saint, NO goddess, just another crooked politician, she's the most notorious criminal to ever run for President, she's the Greater of Two Evils she's got 5 decades of really, really bad behavior. Her primary election was open cheating and open rigging of the elections and all opposition was ignored by her criminal plants in various places, and after all of that she robbed what few votes from the Green Party who are just trying to get on the stage to debate with Duopoly of Democrats and Republicans. Hillary cheated, and she lost. And anyone who knows diddly squat about the occult knows when someone Cheats they do Harm and that involves the 3 Fold Rule and she got back at her what she put out. Cheated at her own game, you cannot put such negative energy out there in the form of disenfranchising voters and ridiculing an entire voter base of Millennials without having that negativity coming back in your face.
Hey, this is nothing new in the Democratic Party. Remember Huey Long? Marion Barry? Buddy Cianci? Joe Morrissey? Robert Battle? Adam Clayton Powell?
Great feeling to be done with both the Clintons AND the Bushes.
Hmmmmm a little passive aggressive. It is refreshing to read something written by a real journalist that actually does research. You were dead on about the apprehension to open an article waiting for the Cold War. It's been dreadful, disgusting and enraging. The thugs tearing up our cities and terrorizing America aren't called "Clinton followers" but yet we are called "Trump followers". The cult of the Clintonites are given a pass at every turn. You're correct again about Hillary's strange protection. We are inundated continually with Trump bashing. There is no rest from it. So we pray.
Now we sit back and watch the republican completely destroy working Americans ..Those who dont make over 100k year those who for a living millions of them.....Now the GOP can make their lives even harder by making the corporations richer....The republicans hate SSN,Medicare,Medicaid,ACA,overtime pay,min wage, work place safety or OSHA ..they hate unemployment insurance workmens comp or the ability to sue your boss for discrimination.....Does the GOP like anything that helps a working man.....I know they dont give a shit about jobs......all their legislation is nothing but power grabs for corporations and disbanding all laws pertaining to corporations and their workers(slaves)....Workers are nothing to Trump because he has stiffed enough of them in his life Time....The republicans and the stupids who vote for them have no clue whats coming....Dont they have parents ..grand parents friends relatives who get SSN retirement or disability or unemployment insurance or need medicines to survive.....These are all things republicans are going to pull out from under us...The only perks in life are the ones you get for being rich....Those who work can just eat it.
Podesta, is that you?
Liberals are emotional and indulge in magical thinking. Dog bites man.
I want articles like this to end, and the Clintons to fade from the public stage, to slither back into whatever vile, putrid, primordial swamp they came out of. No more about Hillary and Bill unless it involves an indictment. Otherwise, ignore them forever.
My mothers neighbour is working part time and averaging $9000 a month. I'm a single mum and just got my first paycheck for $6546! I still can't believe it. I tried it out cause I got really desperate and now I couldn't be happier. Heres what I do,

Great article. This election had little to do with Trump or white voters or anything else. It has to do with the worst Presidential candidate in American history and the self centered, elite, group that supported her and are so sad right now.
I'm not a fan of tRump, but I did hold my nose and vote for him. Now, after seeing all of the progtards shit and piss their pants, I'm beginning to think he might have some serious value in the futue. But the best, is that Shrillary Cankles the Bribe Queen won't be president.
I'm Canadian, so of course I would have voted for Hillary, but there's no denying you have a point here.

See the documentation at: Crystal X

This woman most likely has Borderline Personality Disorder. They are highly disturbed people, but it's not always apparent, at least not initially. They make false claims of rape, and will also trap men with unwanted pregnancies by poking holes in condoms, lying about being on birth control or taking his semen off her belly and fertilizing herself. Young men should be taught about these dangerous women before they are involved with one. They will destroy your life. I know firsthand.

By the time the grooming is over, everyone who's ever worked for the clinton foundation will be under indictment.
I just don't see her ever getting past first base. Sure, like Hillary, someone could simply hand her some guaranteed Dem seat... but she'll have 100% of the baggage of the Clinton legacy, and 0% of the accomplishment or experience. Running her would be a blatant admission that the DNC has literally no political farm-team at all.
It's different now that Hillary isn't in office. That's for sure.
I don't expect Hillary or the Clinton Foundation to have any legal problems.
Even if Trump decides to squander political capital that has nothing to do with his agenda in the future passed, Obama may very well pardon Hillary and all the key people working at the Clinton Foundation.
He sent Hillary classified emails on that server himself under a pseudonym. Their email problems are his legal problems, too. I don't understand why he wouldn't pardon her.
Also remember that if Chelsea doesn't get into office, then Clinton Foundation is done. They're nobody.
The reason you give to the Clinton Foundation is for influence. Without the influence, there's no reason for people to give.
In other words, there are a slew of professional Democrats, former White House people, etc. whose livelihoods are at stake if Chelsea doesn't get into office somehow. Whether they'll be successful is one question, but it's hard to imagine that they won't try as hard as they can.
What, you think the DNC is above that? Two words: Patrick Kennedy. And he wasn't even being groomed for anything. They gave him an entire state as a duchy.
A political machine that can make a president out of an undocumented socialist neighborhood organizer in just eight years can pretty much lead its constituency by the nose. Plus, keep in mind that many Democrats, having successfully scratched their "first black president" itch, are still looking to elect a "first female president" for no other logical reason.
i think he will pardon *her*
I don't think he'll go as far as to issue a writ exculpating anyone and everyone associated with her.
The first is his obligation as a Team Player, somewhat. and i think most people would see it as justified, and an attempt to prevent political backlash (*even tho his own admin played dirty pool quite a bit). Its certainly something that can be defended and explained.
The latter... if he includes a whole boatload of Clinton asssociates? no. It will be a tacit admission that the level of criminality was far wider than the press has acknowledged to date.
The media has mostly managed to keep a lid on the idea that the Foundation was being investigated *at all*. Everyone pretends it was 'all about the emails', and that the comey letters were only ever talking about "1 investigation" rather than many.
I think if Obama tries to cast a wide-net with his pardon-power, it will raise more questions than it settles. And people in the FBI who've been on a leash so far will scream to high hell. I don't think he likes the Clintons that much, or feels that he needs to sacrifice his own legacy/reputation to clean up their dirt, but that's just my impression.
I think a vicious realpolitik type of move would be for a President Trump to pardon Hillary then use her to clean out the rest of the sewer rats that surround her
(assuming that if you are pardoned, you lose the 5th Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination concerning the thing about which you were pardoned)
You can't pardon people before they have been found guilty.
I don't think such efforts are wasted at all; even if they don't yield convictions, they'll make the Clinton foundation an unattractive recipient for donations.
She has no incentive to do that once she's pardoned.
Those sewer rats are her friends and family.
True, but it isn't so magic that you lose your ability to lie your ass off.
"You can't pardon people before they have been found guilty."
That is factually incorrect.
"At the Constitutional Convention of 1787 debate on this point was won by the delegates who urged that pardons be permitted before conviction (see Zimmet, ''The Law of Pardon,'' 1974-75 Annual Survey of American Law, page 179; ''The Nixon Pardon,'' Connecticut Law Review, 1974, Volume 7, page 56).
Accordingly, the Constitution simply provides that the President ''shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment'' (Article II, section 2).
The leading Supreme Court case is Ex parte Garland (1867). Justice Stephen J. Field, writing for the Court in a 5-4 decision, held that the President's pardoning power is ''unlimited,'' and ''It extends to every offense known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment.''
In Murphy v. Ford (1975), a Federal District Court in Michigan rejected a suit for a declaratory judgment that President Ford's unconditional pardon of Richard M. Nixon was unconstitutional. The court found that the President had the constitutional power to grant a pre-indictment pardon, citing Ex parte Garland in its support.

"You can't pardon people before they have been found guilty."
Sometimes we want something to be true so much that we start to believe it's true.
When you think about it, it should be hard for someone to distinguish between what they want to be true and what they believe to be true.
Wanting something to be true is a lot like believing it's true.
That's why it's important to subject our ideas to scrutiny by other people. That's one of the reasons I love Hit & Run. It's full of smart commenters who can point out when I start wanting something to be true so much that I start believing it is true--even when it isn't.
For instance, I wish the Court had held that state referendums on marijuana have more weight than the federal government's mandate to regulate interstate commerce. I wish it so much that it seems like it should be true.
I wish Hillary Clinton were on her way to jail, too. No one around here has denounced her as a crook more than I have. But she's not going to jail for anything ever--not so long as Obama wants to pardon her. As long as Obama has wanted her not to go to jail, it was never going to happen.
I recall someone (Susan McDougal?) spending a lot of time in jail because she refused to testify in one of the never-ending Clinton scandals in the 90's. I think that would be an acceptable substitute for convicting Mrs. Clinton of her crimes.
Also, do you really think she would endanger herself for others? That's not the Mrs. Clinton I've seen for the last 30 years.
Thanks for the info from the NY Times.
You're missing my point, though: it doesn't matter much whether Clinton goes to jail or not, what matters is that the Clinton Foundation is exposed for the fraud it is.
If Obama grants Hillary a pardon for her past wrongdoings at the Clinton Foundation, all the better: she can't take the Fifth anymore and has to answer truthfully. If not, she can be thrown in jail for perjury (and that, Obama can't pardon her for). And such a pardon would be just as bad for Clinton as a conviction: "the president is pardoning Hillary Clinton for her bribe taking, influence peddling, disclosure of state secrets, and failure to abide by her oath of office". Can't ask for more than that.
I doubt jailing Hillary would make much difference at this point. She clearly has serious medical problems and her life is likely a living hell already; I suspect that the campaign was a bit of an escape for her. Now, she can reflect for the rest of her life on how she lost to a Trumpkin, watch the Clinton Foundation slowly spiral down the drain, and ask herself whether her ill-gotten $100 million were really worth it.
