Orlando Shooting

"If he murdered because he saw two men kiss, I say: find someone to kiss"

Edward Snowden's reply to Orlando Pulse shooting is perfect.

This sounds about right, from whistleblower-patriot-freedom-fighter Edward Snowden:

Reason TV interviewed Snowden earlier this year. Go here for video and transcript.

  1. Snowden lives in Russia, where the vodka is good, the caviar is better, and the gays are not really liked very much by the government. Good choice Nick.

    1. SJW Virtue Signalling.

I’d be more impressed if Snowden himself was in the middle of ??????? ??????? and started kissing men for Teh Twitterverse. In front of the police. And starts flipping the police the bird whilst he’s doing it.

*THAT’S* being a rebel, not hiding in some dacha with devushki.

      1. Reason is dropping the ball today.

        1. You misspelled “shitting the bed”.

        2. First Soave writes an article which implies Obama is being a quisling for not mentioning ‘radical islam’.

Then Nick writes an article saying we shouldn’t try to reach any conclusions until all the facts are in.

Then Nick praises Snowden’s tweet as “perfect”?

WTF is going on? Reason is producing almost Daily Dissonance. (Band name)

          1. Daily Dissonance

            “Username available”

    2. Anybody can earn 450dollar+ daily… You can earn from 8000-15000 a month or even more if you work as a full time job…It’s easy, just follow instructions on this page, read it carefully from start to finish… It’s a flexible job but a good eaning opportunity..

  2. You know which countries ban public kissing?

    1. Reminds me to sit out the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. No alcohol, no kissing, no bratwurst.

      1. Damn.

        *crosses Qatar off bucket-list*

      2. You can get alcohol in Doha.

  3. How about: stop importing Muslims, and then kiss? Seems safer and more sensible.

    1. The guy was born in NY.

      1. to imported Afghanis.

The lack of assimilation is the problem with importing people from radically different cultures.

        1. He posted to social media with kissy lips and NYPD garb – if you ignore the murderous ideology it looks like he was assimilating just fine.

          1. According to the FBI, the guy made physical threats to co-workers back in 2013 and referred to possible ties to radical islamists when doing it.

I have to tell you if a co-worker of mine did that, I would just tell my employer that either that fucker goes right now, or I do. Of course, considering the nature of his job, most people in his work place were armed and these cowards always seek out soft targets.

            1. Apparently a co-worker did use the the ‘my way or the highway’ gambit.

He ended up down the road, because Islam is a race doncha know.

              1. Mateen helped her work the windshield cleaning function in her new car one time, she said

                The windshield cleaning function? WTF?

            2. According to Power Line, the company refused to act because Islam; they knew the SJ horde would descend.

          2. That’s a pretty big component of culture to ignore when judging assimilation.

            1. I guess I left off my /sarc tag.

            2. But it’s not the lack of assimilation that is the problem. It’s the murderous ideology. Plenty of people hold tight to their native cultures and manage to not commit mass murder.

              1. Why are Albanian and Bosnian Muslims so laid back?

        2. What’s to stop American-born people from converting to Islam? Wasn’t that what happened with the American guy who went off to fight in Yemen? (Sorry, can’t remember his name.)

          1. How about we cross that bridge when (if) we come to it?

So until converts start mass murdering people let’s just focus on the very sorts of Islamists that actually have gone all bloody jihadi.

            1. +1 contemplative bridge crossing

          2. Let’s try making conversion to Islam a shameful and embarrassing thing to do.

    2. How about fuck off.

      1. I see the short bus has arrived.

        1. That’s because you were riding it.

          1. Your witty repartee astounds, as always.

            1. Hey, that was almost as clever as “The jerk store called, and they were out of YOU!”

  4. I say tweet gay-porn to ISIS. #ChooseTwink

    1. Wrap it in bacon.

        1. Nope. Not clicking that.

          1. I’m going to imagine it’s Ricky trying to cook bacon on the hood of his car.

          2. Not as bad as I thought it would be

            1. True, but what are you going to see next time you cook bacon.

            2. posh. Its just as delicious as you thought it would be

        2. Speaking of both / either, this is what I’m making my husband for Father’s Day: Whiskey Bacon Brownies.

          1. didn’t even click. just came in trousers.

          2. Looks good but what self-respecting man buy such a small bottle of Bulleit.

            1. What self respecting man buys Bulleit?

          3. No pot brownies?

            1. I’m one sip over the line [Sweet Jesus] with the whiskey. We’re teetotalers, but the husband still occasionally hearkens back to his heathen days and heathen ways.

              1. Well they look good. Enjoy:)

              2. The teetotalers are the heathens. :-p

(I’ve picked up a couple of bottles of wine for my dad for Fathers’ Day.)

                1. Is it bad I had to ask some friends which whiskey to buy? *duck*

        3. God bless the internet.

    2. THAT is hilarious.

  5. Sorry, Snowden, that makes no sense at all. The guy wasn’t looking for someone to kiss, he was looking for someone to kill because they offended his religion.

    1. Also, Nick is Gay.

  6. I’m lost. Is he:
    1) Telling us to mock ISIS by kissing? I don’t think they care about that kind of protest.
    2) Saying that the terrorists just needed someone to love? Because this seems unlikely as well.

    1. He’s saying to provoke them. I hope he visits Malmo and tries that.

    2. Same reason people draw Mohammed. Signalling.

  7. “Ignore the fact that gays are condemned in the Koran, because most Muslims don’t take that part too seriously, even though it is supposedly the perfect and final word of Allah!”

    1. Well they don’t.

      1. Until they do.

        1. Hmmm, look at all those countries in which homosexuality is punishable by imprisonment or death. I wonder if they have anything at all in common…?

          1. Besides Shariah you mean?

            1. I seriously look for the left to push for allowing Shariah in the USA. After all, not to do so would be Islamaphobic. I think Britain already allows it.

              1. I see you also get your news from NutJob.com.

              2. Yes and no.

There’s been a lot of talk in the past about offering ‘small claims court’-like sharia judgments, with the predictable list of chin-striking and nodding from all the usual suspects, but AFAIK it’s not been implemented *publically* or officially.

I can imagine that in a practical sense, places like Bradford and Rotherham have such groups, where if both parties are willing, they’d accept a local imam’s ruling, but for HMG to publically admit this and announce it as policy would cause all kinds of backlash which would be inconvenient at any time, but particularly now.

                1. And while not dispositive, I offer this citation:
                  Britain – 85 sharia courts

One might say that a society that offers more than one legal framework to operate in is a more free society, but then one would have to concede that the nature of those multiple frameworks would be important.

          2. None of them are western countries with large numbers of Muslim immigrants.

          3. “Hmmm, look at all those countries in which homosexuality is punishable by imprisonment or death. I wonder if they have anything at all in common…?”

The Muslim ones or the ones where Christian evangelicals have been pushing for criminalization, like in Uganda and Liberia?

            1. Hmm, actual examples versus hypothetical examples… which are more convincing…?

        2. Until one or two do. Just like gun owners.

  8. Sorry, I guess it’s supposed to be heart-warming or something? But it just sounds vacuous

    1. I’m just going to masturbate again. Take that ISIS.

        1. *watches gif*

          *masturbates again *

          Fuck you, ISIS.

        2. WHY DID I CLICK THAT!!!!!

          *bangs head on table*

        3. Goddamnit.

      1. Leave it to crusty to start dicking around when things get serious.

        1. Or, he’s serious about dicking around. But not checking his email.

        2. Baters gonna bate bate bate bate

    2. Are you allowed to say something meaningful on the social medias?

  9. Whichever Putin apparatchik is writing these tweets under Snowden’s name has an off sense of humor.

  10. If the proper response to this is for everyone to get their gay on, I am okay with that but how about everyone start Drawing Muhammad? I have no doubt that the media is going to think this is a great idea. It would be nice if someone asked them how it is okay for people to make a huge public display of kissing the same sex, an act religious Muslims find repulsive, but disrespectful and racist and counter productive to draw Muhammad?

    1. Oh please, John! Don’t you remember the, “Draw Mewhammad,” fiasco here? A bunch of cyber Islamo-Mohammedans swarmed in and got the thread shut down with a 2000+ (pre-registration) comment clusterfuck.

And who shut it down? Gillespie himself, Virtue Signaller extraordinaire.

      I’m going to bed.

      1. I missed that, damnit!

        1. I missed that, damnit!

I had to get up and drop an Obama in the loo… so’s back to bed.

Here’s the Virtue Signalling result of that day.

These were the actual winners, but still the comments were nerfed.

          1. “but still the comments were nerfed.”

            Not cool.

      2. You not watching the game, doc? You guys are giving the Krauts a good game.

        1. My wife is viewing it now, and feeding the girls. My son is finally asleep, and I am dog tired. I also have cases this morning.

          1. Gotcha. Well have a good one, doc.

        2. I watched the game. It was nice to see a team get an insurance goal in stoppage time instead of giving up an equalizer. 😉

          1. I saw what you did there.

  11. Holy shit, I’m going to find the nearest woman to kiss.

    1. UGH = HATE!

    2. oh, I didn’t realize we were allowed to pick a woman.

      1. Control yourself; take only what you need from it.

  12. Did the guy use an automatic weapon? If not, why does Hillary and Bernie keep repeating that? Aren’t automatic weapons already illegal?

    1. Because they’re fucking retards that don’t realize they’re going up against someone that will actually use their deliberate lies against them.

      1. Gary Johnson?

      2. “Because they’re fucking retards that don’t realize they’re going up against someone that will actually use their deliberate lies against them.”

        Um. Who?

    2. If the gun goes “pew!” every time you pull the trigger, it’s obviously an automatic.

      /New York Times

      1. Well, then aren’t the vast majority of weapons today, automatic? I mean you have bolt action rifles and single shot shotguns, but besides that…

        1. Those fucking retards think anything shy of a muzzle loader should be banned. They say it all the time. Why would you expect them to do anything but lie if they thought it would advance their narrative?

          1. So in other words, I need to protect myself against criminals and terrorists, with a muzzle loader? Do I at least get to load it first?

          2. Lie. They think muzzle loaders should be banned too.

          3. I own a working flintlock. It’s really fucking heavy, but fun–the fireball when the flint hits the pan is the best part. I’m not particularly fast at re-loading (the reload rate for crack infantry was 5 per minute) but it’s not terribly hard to pull off a fire rate of 1 per minute. It took the cops 3 hours to respond, if he’d had a flintlock he could have fired 180 times.

            1. The people in the club would have had a minute to rush him while he was reloading.

              1. The people in the club would have had a minute to rush him while he was reloading

Nonsense, they would be obligated to form up in lines and walk slowly towards him by the totemic power of the musket.

              2. A real horror-fest awaits the crowd who encounters fool who homebrews flamethrower and goes off handle.

For instance, one of these times, the Islamoclown will mod a dual XM42 setup on the AK before wandering into the theater/club/Micky-D’s.

Suicidal terrorists are by default kinda stupid, but every now and then a clever one rolls around. It will happen.

      2. No, it means you use stinky ammunition.

    3. Automatics are illegal to produce federally not own. They are illegal to own on a state by state basis.

      1. Not illegal to produce. But any produced after 1986 cannot be sold to civilians. Military and LEO only. However there are a fair number of people who maintain their Class III license solely because they posses a number of post 86 ‘dealer samples’ that they could not otherwise retain if they let their license go.

  13. Nick, you make me smile.

  14. CAIR is saying Muslims should donate blood to victims. A good start.

U.S. Muslim activist group Council on American-Islamic Relations to hold a news conference on Sunday at 5 p.m. in Washington, D.C. to condemn to Orlando massacre.

“We are sickened and heartbroken by this appalling attack. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims,” National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement. “There can never be any justification for such cowardly and criminal acts, period.”

    So far, so good.

    1. Good on them for this, I suppose.

But I doubt it’s in good faith, coming from these assholes.

      1. Reason didn’t make the list?

        1. Why do you think Shikha is a contributor?

          1. Virtue Signalling.

    2. Nick needs to go to their DC office tomorrow and offer hugs & kisses.

    3. This is how CAIR will garner my respect.

  15. Well, of course what happened is terrible, but let’s not forget there are Christians refusing to bake cakes for gay couples. And Islamophobia is a real problem.

  16. You knew it was coming: ACLU lawyers blame ‘Christian right,’ GOP for Orlando jihad massacre

“You know what is gross ? your thoughts and prayers and Islamophobia after you created this anti-queer climate,” ACLU staff attorney Chase Strangio tweeted on Sunday morning.

Ah, the ACLU- Anti-Christian Lawsuit Union. Best friends with the SPLC- Silly Preposterous Lie Center.

    1. Does Chase Strangio try to look like that? FFS, dude. He looks like Justin Bieber fucked Arthur Blank’s mustache and then got in a fight with a set of clippers.

    2. Christian conservatives are responsible for the mass shooting at a gay bar in Orlando because they “created this anti-queer climate,”

Wasn’t that climate called for in the Quran? Like way before Christian conservatives were a thing?

      1. Right, that makes sense since gays are never attacked in majority Muslim countries. In Muslim countries, gays are celebrated and given free roam. The Muslims learned it from western Christians. Someone’s logic engine has seriously malfunctioned.

        1. Ah but are they free to gambol about the country?

        2. Behind every double standard is a single standard.

      2. Mohammed had encountered Orthodox Christians before starting his religion, so blaming them is bonified.

        1. The author was talking about modern day christian conservatives, as a political entity. Unless Mohammed came here to the future and was impressed by them gun totin’ right wing rednecks, then went back in time to found Islam, no I don’t think that’s bonafide. It’s moronic.

          1. I think it was the same winged horse that took him to Jerusalem that brought him to Selma.

    3. How does an ACLU lawyer count to ten?

      1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9.

    4. And they’re blaming the NRA for blocking a bill that would not have prevented this ass from buying guns and getting a rent-a-cop license.

  17. There’s only one way to defeat this enemy and that’s to take freedom and liberty away from Americans. They hate us for our freedoms, so obviously removing those freedoms is the answer. Maybe if we implement Sharia, that will make the Muslims happier. Hey look, I’m just trying to find a solution.

I’m being sarcastic of course, but does what I just said sound any dumber than what our politicians will actually propose?

  18. I’m mystified why these white, right-wing, christian terrorists keep disguising themselves as radical Islamists.

    1. It’s a vast right wing conspiracy.

    1. If only Florida had a rule like NY, requiring only 7 rounds per magazine!! That would solve everything.

    2. It’s amazing how these assholes don’t waste a minute going political after a tragedy.

  19. Gaze upon the Derp, ye mighty and despair:

It is becoming increasing clear that this was not an act of Islamic terrorism. While Omar Mateen was technically a Muslim, he was born in the United States. Both his wife and his parents say that he showed no signs of radicalization, but he was mentally unstable and a domestic abuser and a possible terror suspect. Democrats have introduced legislation to specifically restrict gun sales to all three categories. NRA-bought Republicans have defeated all three.

The Islamic State did not claim responsibility for the attack until CNN and FOX News and every other fear-mongering mainstream media site began shouting that the man had “sworn allegiance” Daesh caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. They had no idea who this man was or what his deal was, and the call to 911 in which he proclaimed his allegiance to the Islamic State took place while he was committing mass murder. It was a grab for attention, nothing more.

    1. Impressive. So the Republicans are at fault for the murders, certainly not Islam or even this guy.

      That didn’t take long.

    2. Today, it is our obligation as a queer community to remember that islamophobia, homophobia, and transphobia work together.

Today, it is our obligation as queer people to proclaim that the same forces that marginalize queer people in the United States are used to marginalize Muslims.

      1. I’m assuming that’s Godfrey Elfwick until further notice.

      2. They don’t know. They’re just throwing a random pastiche of bullshit and buzzwords together.

      3. This makes perfect sense to the left. Leftist rhetoric teaches that there’s only one source of evil, and that is straight white males of European descent. Everyone else are the good people who are united against the one common enemy. So it makes sense that when people are killed in attacks by radical Islam, that somehow, straight white males of European descent must be responsible. There is nothing that can snap them out of this state of delusion. Europe will be one big caliphate under Islamic law and the American left will still be in a complete state of denial.

    3. It does not matter if the Orlando shooter was Muslim
His identity does not justify islamophobia
Our fear does not justify islamophobia
Our trauma does not justify islamophobia
Our sadness does not justify islamophobia
Our heartbreak does not justify islamophobia

There has to be a name for this Millenial-Feels-Chanting.

Its become a rhetorical M.O. so cliche that Joe Fucking Biden aped it in his “Open Letter Pandering To The Public About How He Totally Gives A Shit About Rape Victims

Junior-High-School Poetry is the new-normal of public speaking.

I do not know your name ? but I see your unconquerable spirit.
I see the limitless potential of an incredibly talented young woman ? full of possibility. I see the shoulders on which our dreams for the future rest.
      I see you.

We will make lighthouses of ourselves, as you did ? and shine.
Your story has already changed lives.
You have helped change the culture.
You have shaken untold thousands out of the torpor and indifference towards sexual violence that allows this problem to continue.
Your words will help people you have never met and never will.
You have given them the strength they need to fight.
And so, I believe, you will save lives.
I do not know your name ? but I will never forget you.

      1. Junior-High-School Poetry is the new-normal of public speaking.

How *dare* you dis Maya Angelou!

      2. Joe Biden was the idiot who finally broke the axles on the bandwagon.

He has no way of contacting the victim. Riiiiight.

    4. but he was mentally unstable and a domestic abuser and a possible terror suspect. Democrats have introduced legislation to specifically restrict gun sales to all three categories.

He also passed the background check that Democrats were intending to prevent gun sales to those categories.

There’s not any evidence he was on the no fly list either, so the “no fly no buy” nonsense wouldn’t have helped ether.

      1. Had he been convicted of domestic violence he would not have passed the background check nor would he have had that carry license.

      2. I’m guessing it’s against Obama policy to put Muslims on terror watchlist because its racist and might make them feel bad.

    5. That is neutron star density Derp, there, Derpetologist. Watch yourself! I know you are a pro and all, but that stuff is lethal.

  20. This just in, from the Inane Meaningless Gestures desk:

Breaking: Cast of @HamiltonMusical is dropping the use of muskets from their #TonyAwards performance tonight because of Orlando.

Damn those toy muskets. Damn them to Hell!

    1. I suspect that’s a joke.

      1. It’s not. Official statement from the show’s spokesman and reported by CBS among others.

Utter insanity. Don’t want people to know that being armed is a key component of being a free a people and throwing off tyrants, I guess.

        1. Now, *that* is perverse.

    2. Signaling is a hell of a drug.

    3. Hilarious. Don’t the grabbers always emphasize that keeping and bearing muskets (as opposed to modern assault-clip endowed weapons of war with things that go up) is a beloved part of the Bill of Rights?

  21. What are the chances the FSB tweeted this and are laughing hysterically at Americans taking this shallow bullshit seriously?

  22. This will surely be as effective as the #bringourgirlsback campaign.

  23. This is fantastic !!

Brilliant. This murderer claimed seeing two gay men kiss in public incentvised him.

We should organise a National Kiss Day – where men all over the country/world at an agreed upon time – go out in public and kiss another (consenting) man.

    I’d do it. Totally

Women can do the same thing

It’s the ultimate FUCK YOU political statement

Hetero or gay – who cares? It’s a kiss.

It would make it abundantly clear – we won’t submit to these fuckheads!!!

It’s exactly the correct response – this is how we respond to attempts to punish us for our freedoms !!

    1. It’s the ultimate FUCK YOU political statement

    2. I’d prefer to kill them as a response instead of acting like a horny teenager.

      1. They are not mutually exclusive

    3. “Hetero or gay – who cares? It’s a kiss.”

      Most Muslims.

      1. Them Saudis wer’nt ‘fraid to swap spit with W

    4. Well, geez, Dunphy, we’re totally shocked that you want to kiss men and that since none of them want to kiss you, you’re making up a bullshit excuse to get some poor guy to kiss you.

Folks, gaze upon the face of desperation.

      1. I laughed

        1. As I’ve explained several times – suggesting that I’m gay is not at all offensive to me

          It’s not an insult

It doesn’t happen to be true , but I get the silly childish responses from your ilk

I expected this when I made the post

I would have no problem kissing another man as long as there was no tongue

Ironically in many Muslim countries , men hold hands and kiss cheeks

      2. Hey, he’s fishing with a wide net.

    5. I’m not kissing a dude.

How ’bout I put a fake mustache on my wife and kiss her?

      1. She’s totally cool with that , but I thought it weird when she suggested it

  24. If we must ban things how about banning millennial journalists* and anyone who write for The Daily Beast.

The deadliest single-person mass murder in American history before Orlando occured in Bath, Michigan, in 1927, when a man bombed a school, killing 44 people.

    This one killed 87**

(*KMW and ENB are ” Gen-Xers”)

(** There may well be a deadlier “single-person mass murder”)

    1. Where’s my hat-tip? 😉

  25. Gay Muslim Talks with Imam:

“And we say if we’re an Islamic State, then you would face capital punishment. The only difference among the jurists is how that person should be killed.”

Guess what with Islamic State does. Go on, guess:

    1. Guess what the, etc. Damn typos.

  26. IOW:

  27. Perfect? Amusing but silly, more like it.

The hero worship of Snowden is getting a bit much tohanging on his every pronouncement.

  28. Snowden is late to the party.

Gay rights activists hold ‘kiss day’ at Chick-fil-A restaurants

IIRC it was also one of CFA’s highest revenue days in history as people turned out in droves to support them against the speech-quashing assholes.

    1. It really upset me when Chick-Fil-A killed all of those gay people

      1. I hear they have a higher body count than even that of Chipotle!

        1. Chipotle knows no creed or color.

    2. Plus all the dudes who went and bought chicken sandwiches after kissing for the cameras.

  29. Snowden’s suggestion is not the best idea. One should nuke Mecca and destroy that Kab’ai stone (sp). After that, say there is no Islam anymore and people should stop practicing it. Incidentally, I don’t hear you antisemitic Rhomites calling for saying “I am a Jew” after your Muzzie heroes murder Jews. Of course, you Rhomites wish you could join the Muzzies in their “fun” activity.

“First they came for the Jews….”

“There’s no need to fear. Underzog is here!”

      1. This is why we get treated like pizzas.

        1. …beloved by everyone? That doesn’t sound like us.

    2. Perfect. Never go away, Underzoggy.

Wait. I think I typed that wrong. Go away, Underzoggy.

      1. I think Zoggy is more concussed than ever. Or is it joining Hihn in DementiaLand?

    3. Your youtube channel has some weird shit on it.

      1. Make sure to like everything!

    4. Uh, Islam is no underpinned by the Black Stone in Kaaba – destroying it would have the same effect on Islam as blowing up the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

      1. Uh, Islam is no underpinned by the Black Stone in Kaaba – destroying it would have the same effect on Islam as blowing up the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

I disagree. Pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher isn’t a fundamental pillar of the Christian faith.

      2. If you blow up the black stone the fragments will be everywhere, and the pilgrimages will multiply.

  32. Just overheard on the teevee news – “These young people were killed in a safe space”

    1. And a gun-free zone.

      Reality crashed their safe space.

    2. Maybe the shooter didn’t know it was a safe space. They should have posted a sign. Teach Muslims how to respect safe spaces!

  33. Every war has required sacrifices from the homefront. I’m glad we finally have a way for the Tumblrinas to do their part.

  34. And now for something completely different: a fight against eminent domain:

The Hess triangle is a triangular tile mosaic set in a sidewalk in New York City’s West Village neighborhood at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Christopher Street. The plaque reads “Property of the Hess Estate which has never been dedicated for public purposes.

    1. LOL I’ve passed that spot a million times without noticing the plaque. Cool.

  35. I have only been on here on and off today so this may have been covered already.

His wife says he beat her. If she had had him charged for that he wouldn’t have been able to buy guns or keep his license to carry.

    1. Wife-beaters are absolute scum of the Earth. If his wife’s kin had done the right thing, Omar would’ve been limited to what he could manage while breathing through a straw.

      1. Wife beaters are scum, no doubt – though there are people far more qualified for the ‘scum of the earth’ title – but do not deserve to have their own right to self-defense taken away permanently.

    2. There are a couple of red flags. I guarantee you that he filled out an NYPD application.

  36. Fuck all this…I scored a hk 45 Usp for a sweet price. Suck it mammals!

    1. Nice. Seems like a good thing to own these days.

  37. Charlie Hibdo, a death metal concert and now a gay bar. Remember when all those stupid conservatives said they hated us because we were free when everyone knew it was because we deposed the Shah and colonialism?

    1. But John, just listen to their songs:

See? They just want good jobs, education, and healthcare.

      1. A shot at the good life…

    2. One thing westerners don’t get is the sense of history that they have. We look back a few decades and try to find the causes of this because we are really a forward thinking culture. What happened a couple of hundred years ago means little to us with regards to our current affairs.

They aren’t like that at all. They look back a thousand years and it means as much to them today as what happened yesterday. They don’t assimilate because they don’t want to. The muslims have been invading and trying to conquer the west for centuries and it is naive as hell to think they aren’t still at it. What is going on now is a war, a slow boil, but a war none the less.

Someone tell me I am wrong and I will tell you that I hope you are right.

      1. I don’t disagree.

But there are peoples from other cultures with thousands of years of heritage (the Chinese come to mind) that don’t seem to have much trouble assimilating mostly after one or two generations.

So, just to add a finer point to your theory perhaps, it has something to do with religious fervor being mixed with cultural heritage.

        1. It is more than that. I see children of immigrants who assimilate just fine, and some that have real problems and end up with personality problems. Toss in a primitive, violent religion and you have a recipe for disaster.

          1. Well arbitrary, I was trying to cook, the tv was going and the wife was asking me questions. I just re-read your comment and see that I misread it the first time.

            Disregard my reply.

      2. These guys are not looking back hundreds of years – they deliberately work to destroy any history wherever they can.

And if they want examples of the West dicking with them they only have to look back around a century anyway.

Ultimately though, its all just an excuse. He started it, no he started it, no he started it! The plain facts are that some people have found that they can find personal power and add meaning to their lives by attacking others – and those people are not only in mosques but they’re in the White House.

The guy who shot up the night club? He’s nothing more than a disgruntled postal worker who took out his anger on random people. The whole ‘I’m doing this for ISIS and Islam’ is just an excuse to cover up the sheer inanity of his actions. Instead of being a vicious chump he gets to feel like he’s important and ‘striking a blow’ by claiming to be part of this.

        1. Yes. Joining ISIS has evoke a way for losers to feel important. I am not how that changes much however

          1. They’re not *joining* ISIS – they’re using ISIS as a way to try to give some importance to their rage outburst when they go on the shooting spree they were always going to.

We feel nothing but contempt for the loser who blows up a ‘federal building’ because his life sucks – and these guys are exactly the same. This ISIS shit is exactly the same bullshit used to make their lashing out at people who’ve done them no harm seem like its a significant part of a larger struggle.

            1. ISIS takes cadet members. And yeah they are losers lashing out. iSIS is happy to give them a way to do that

              1. That dude *was not in ISIS* anymore than me saying ‘I’m a Navy Seal’ makes me one – no matter how much the SEALS may approve of what I’ve done.

his claim of association is used by him to make his temper tantrum ‘meaningful’ and is being used by ISIS for their own ends.

      3. http://www.realclearpolitics.c…..olicy.html

“For Americans to grasp the mindset of Radical Islam we need to understand that they are still hopping mad about the massacre at Karbala several hundred years ago. Meanwhile, many Americans seem to be more concerned with who is winning ‘Dancing with the Stars.'” – Rand Paul

    3. Death metal? Not even close.

      1. I defer to you on that. Not death metal but whatever kind of concert it was.

    4. a death metal concert

      the joke is –

“Black Eyed Peas = are The Eagles of Rap Music”
“Michael Dudikoff = The Eagles of Marital Arts”
“Olive Garden = The Eagles of Italian Food”
“Obama = The Eagles of Black People”

“The Eagles of Death Metal” is basically saying, “We’re just a rock & roll band” in a self-deprecating way.

      1. I had no idea who they were before the attack. I still have never heard their music.

        1. It’s just goofball rock and roll, mostly about getting laid. You might even like it.

          1. I will look them up. Thanks. I assumed the were what their names was. So is the joke that they are The Eagles, as in the Glen Frey Don Henley band, of death metal not the raptor?

            1. Precisely.

            2. And the singer is a major gun nut, conspiracy theorist, and Trumpite. He’s a blast.

      2. “Michael Dudikoff = The Eagles of Marital Arts”

You can make all the jokes you want about bad music and Kenyan presidents and horrible restaurants, but you will not insult America’s foremost purveyor of ninjitsu. I will not stand for it.

    5. It wasn’t a death metal concert.

  38. This should cheer up a few of you: ISIS recruitment ad of a different sort

  39. This is not Snowden’s finest moment, though I still think he’s a hero. What’s next on his Twitter feed?

You can’t hug people with nuclear arms.

    Visualize world peace.

    1. He looks like a COEXIST man if I have ever seen one.

      1. “It will be a great day when our schools get all the money they need and the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber”

  40. My latest post on social media:

“Facebook today: Some assholes calling for a ban on Muslims. Other assholes calling for a ban on guns. I find both disgusting.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But here’s an idea: don’t piggyback your political agenda on a tragedy. The bodies are still warm. It’s fucking shameful.”

I look forward to anyone unfriending me. I’m tired of this shit.

    1. I am just pissed off. I am tired of this shot and having to deal with these animals.

    2. Do you mind if I steal this?

    3. This.

  41. Everyone just buy some more coexist stickers. It’ll be fine.

  42. We admit more than 100,000 lifetime migrants from the Middle East each year. Since 9/11, hundreds of migrants and their children have been implicated in terrorism in the United States.

Hillary Clinton wants to dramatically increase admissions from the Middle East, bringing in many hundreds of thousands during a first term ? and we will have no way to screen them, pay for them, or prevent the second generation from radicalizing.

We need to protect all Americans, of all backgrounds and all beliefs, from Radical Islamic Terrorism – which has no place in an open and tolerant society. Radical Islam advocates hate for women, gays, Jews, Christians and all Americans. I am going to be a President for all Americans, and I am going to protect and defend all Americans. We are going to make America safe again and great again for everyone.

    – Donald J. Trump

He’s gonna win in a landslide.

    1. He’s gonna beat her like a baby seal.

      1. Cool, I hear her coat is worth like 12K.

    2. If you are gay, who are you voting for after this? Are all gays Tony level stupid?

      1. I don’t think that is possible.

      2. You know better than that. We have at least a dozen around here who are as smart as any…well maybe not as smart as one particular commenter, but then who is?

I don’t think the morons trying to hang this on white christians are gonna get much traction. Most gays know who is threatening to kill them and they know who is making good on their word. They also know that more than half of the people lined up to give blood in Orlando are straight christians. I would say there is a decent chance this could happen again before november, god forbid.

Trump won the election last night.

      3. My guess= They’ll pull the lever for Trump but never admit to it publicly.

        1. Yup. Shy Tory Effect / Bradley Effect.

      4. I think it would take multiple attacks to get gay people to embrace the Republican Party given they are primarily concerned with domestic policy. Clinton is still their Judy Garland despite how horrifically opportunistic her support for them is.

        1. According to Bruce Dern, Mickey Rooney used to keep a photograph of Judy Garland masturbating in his pocket for good luck.

          1. That is the sickest thing I have ever heard

            1. Somebody actually had sex with Hillary Clinton at least once.

              1. Bill would fuck a hole in the wall.

                1. It would be easier to list the things he wouldn’t try to screw: cactus, fuming nitric acid, Lena Dunham…

            2. Rooney was married to Ava Gardner who was hot before anyone even knew what hot was. The little bastard must have has a 14 inch cock.

          2. Good morning, good morning
We oomphed the whole night through
            God morning, good morning
To you, and you, and you

    3. Delete your account.

*waits for high-fives from the universe*

      1. Delete your porn.

      2. you go, girl!

      3. I am asking seriously: Can someone explain to me why ‘delete your account’ is considered such a clever slap down? It just sounds like a kid yelling “Nuh uh! Shut up!” to me.

        1. Because Millennials are fucking retarded. In a hundred years we’ve gone from P. G. Wodehouse, George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde to LOL TL,DR.

          1. tits or gtfo

            1. I could sure go for some pregnant tits right now.

              Describe, please.

              1. veiny and gross, to be honest

                1. Massage for relief. Repeat as necessary.

          2. (looks for Thumbs Up button for Grand Moff comment, becomes confused and frustrated in 0.02831 seconds when can’t find one; instead responds with standard affirmative reaction GIF because Gilmore has lost the ability to communicate using actual sentences)

          3. Jay Nordlinger’s “Q&A” podcast had a frankly depressing episode featuring Heather Mac Donald in which they wax rhapsodical on the topic of English poetry and prose in an age of dipshit Yale students calling for the decolonization of English literature.

        2. I heard it was a current meme, which is why on its face it’s stupid but I guess if you’re a teenager it’s supposed to be funny.

    4. “He’s gonna win in a landslide.”

Maybe in a parallel reality, but not this one.

  43. Update on that LA Times story about the man they found with the weapons

Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks said on Twitter that the 20-year-old man told one of her officers after he was arrested that he wanted “to harm Gay Pride event.” But she did not provide any details, and officials said they are still trying to sort out his motives.

    Bangup job, Jacqo.

The car’s license plate included a symbol of the National Rifle Assn. on the left side and the bottom said, “Teaching Freedom.”

The site includes political posts, including one in which he compares Hillary Clinton to Adolf Hitler. In another, he repeats conspiracy theories that the government was behind notorious terrorist attacks, including Sept. 11, 2011. That post shares a video claiming that last year’s terror attack on the Paris offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo was a hoax and attributable to the “New World Order.”

I am not a gun shooting guy (my penis is totally huge), so I have a question for you gun nuts regarding a message that was sent to top LA officials that an actual journalist tweeted out (which was included in the Times link):

Is that worrisome? It looks worrisome.

    1. Tannerite is basically fireworks. It takes a lot to do damage.

      1. Yes, but you find news stories and probably YouTube videos of people doing stupid shit with it. It’s sold for exploding targets.

OT: wtf is the report spam font bigger than the reply one??

        1. And now it’s back to normal. Stupid mobile version.

    2. Also, what the fuck? You’re in trouble now!

    3. Two of them referred to an incident earlier in the day in which Howell had pointed his gun at his boyfriend. A report was taken after this incident as well.

Greeson said that Howell harbored no ill will toward gays or lesbians and added that Howell was bisexual.

    4. “Assault weapons” AND “Long rifles”?

      These reporters are razor sharp.

They also seem to have taken the ‘suspect’s statement’ that he was “In LA for the festival” as a tacit admission he intended to go full terrorist.

  44. So Trump addresses the underlying cause of the attacks (radical Islam) and explains how his opponent wants to quintuple the number of Islamic immigrants coming into the country annually. Meanwhile the leader of the other party is calling for gun control and doesn’t mention radical Islam in his speech…and Clinton’s surrogates are busy calling Trump a money-grubber and decrying wealth.

The pendulum swung a long way today. I suspect many people, including Nick, are on a modified suicide watch.

    1. Robby wrote an article about the ban on gay men giving blood. Fifty people murdered and all you can think to write about is gay men giving blood? What a deep thinker Robby is.

I am sure Scott is busy writing a “we will never know why this happened or what it all means” piece.

      1. Meh, Scott’s probably right. None of us we’ll ever know why this happened. Because none of us can crawl inside the hivemind of a retarded, 8th century death cult. But we sure as fuck can figure out how to make it less likely to occur in the future: don’t expand the immigration from hotb dos of terrorism fivefold in an attempt to make yourself electable and to generate majorities in the future.

        1. Scott might need a restraining order.

          1. I might need a restraining order from Scott!

          2. I will frame it and hang it next to the others.

        2. That won’t be what he means.

And maybe Robby can use this incident to discuss private versus public ambulance service. Or maybe something to do with uber.

        3. “. But we sure as fuck can figure out how to make it less likely to occur in the future: don’t expand the immigration from hotb dos of terrorism fivefold in an attempt to make yourself electable and to generate majorities in the future.”

We can also end traffic accidents by banning cars, but that would be retarded.

          1. Wow. Proof that peak derp can never be reached.

      2. Shikha finished her form-letter blame-Trump-for-terrorism piece MONTHS ago. Now she just has to fill in numbers, locations and names.

        1. Zing!

      3. Christ, man. Someone wrote a thing and you’re not wholly on-board with it. IT’S THE GAY AGENDA, I TELL YA.

        1. It not that it was wrong. It was that it was utterly shallow.

            1. Fifty people were murdered and all Robby has to add to the conversation is a complaint about blood donations that has been rehashed about a hundred times. Who looks at dozens of people murdered in cold blood and think “gay men should be able to donate blood”. It is not that the article was wrong or the point invalid. It was that the timing was very strange

              1. Ordinarily I’d say you are correct but in this instance the policy is directly related to the event at hand since officials requested people donate due to a shortage of blood for the victims and gay people were unable to.

It’s a pretty fucked up situation that should be called into attention.

                1. You are correct sir. It seems to be the perfect time to mention the illogical and inefficient law.

      4. Hey don’t just blame Robby, the whole damn magazine is retarded from Trump related phenomenon.

    2. “The pendulum swung a long way today.”

      Citation needed.

    3. “Trump addresses the underlying cause of the attacks (radical Islam)”

That’s iffy. This guy was mental.

  45. Seen elsewhere:

A dilemma for Obama… his JV team is slaughtering his HIV team.

    1. That’s terrible – why am I laughing?

      1. Someone ought to be ashamed.

  46. Imam speaks on Orlando slaughter:

    Note the dislike bar.

    1. I note that there are fewer clicks up and down combined than there are comments on this article. The low sample size makes me not put creedence in the result.

I did not watch the video (scripts were off and I couldn’t be arsed to turn them back on)

      1. not put creedence in the result.

    1. In my opinion, dropping one-word comments that are links to random spaces on the internet invites the viewer to not click, but to instead skip the comment and move downthread. The lack of a downthread in this case being the reason (drink?) I could not do so.

      1. Don’t be that guy. Seriously.

The entire thing is self-explantory and germane. I didn’t even need to drop a one word comment.

          1. You sounded taller on the radio.

        1. A hard-learned lesson of the internet is to never follow links without context, even from trusted sources. And H&R does not count as a trusted source regarding internet links. (And twitter is not a trusted destination)

Besides, I’m a sarcastic arse. I am already that guy.

          1. “Without context”? It’s twitter, the context-less, content-less medium.

            1. No, it’s H&R. There’s 1500 characters to provide some idea of what an orange word leads to.

              1. You’re too lazy to click the thing but not lazy enough to comment about having to contextualize it. Gotcha.

      2. Hover over the link, and you’ll see it’s just a tweet, for what that’s worth.

      3. So why didn’t you skip and move downthread?

        1. At the time I commented, it was the bottom of the thread.

      1. Wow, I didn’t know Hillary could fly.

        1. You didn’t watch the documentary?

    2. MaryJane Stricklin ?@daddotmom 10m10 minutes ago
@lbgtPhoenix please reconsider. Trump is a bigoted, racist, misogynistic, and homophobic ass.

LBGT Phoenix ?@lbgtPhoenix 9m9 minutes ago
      @daddotmom how is he homophobic?

    3. Trolls gonna troll.

As an aside, how long before there are calls to censor anybody posing as a LGBTQETC person and supporting a conservative political movement? I set the over/under at three days.

    4. “LBGT”, eh?

      1. As long as transgender comes last.

But yes, that was part of this discussion. I’m glad somebody picked up on it.

        1. As long as transgender comes last.

          Ladies and children first.

          1. NYT headline: “Orlando gay club shot up; women and children hardest hit”.

            1. When gay clubs get shot up, women are the real victims.

          2. LGBT acronym, in any order, makes no sense. Lesbian and Gay are kind of redundant; tranny is about internalized identity instead of what one wishes to tap. Bisexual is just two out of the other three.

I say get Zen: ‘?.’ If procreation is an impossibility in your sexual behavior or identity: ?.

            That should about cover it.

            1. I can’t type that character.

    5. Fake and gay.

      1. You get 2nd prize. Today is Rich’s day.

        1. I appreciate the sentiment, Playa, but I prefer that today not be known as my day.

    6. I don’t know much about twitter, but looks like a fake account. If not then I stand corrected on my above comment.

    7. Ha. We’ll see more of that. Scott Adams’ prediction of a Trump landslide is looking more likely all the time.

      1. If that happens, Hillary’s concession speech will be ‘UUUUGE!

        1. Something has changed since that was written. You get one guess.

          1. The incumbent Democratic president is becoming increasingly popular, and the economy isn’t in a downward spiral when looking across different metrics. In other words, Trump has limited electoral capital to work with. If the economy becomes worse, the president becomes less popular or Clinton has another scandal, then Trump’s chances will improve. Until that happens, Trump is an underdog, and he’s not yet running up the score enough with white voters to win.

The author forgot one other possibility that would send waves of white supporters to Trump’s side.

            1. This leaves out the fact that Hillary has another scandal on a weekly basis. Right now, it’s the donor she appointed to a high level security job. They’ll be another soon, and another. The Clintons cannot help it.

              1. Oh Christ that dog does not hunt. It never will. She’s Teflon.

                1. The FBI still gets a vote.

          2. You mean the thing that probably will be forgotten in a week and a half?

            1. What’s really interesting is that the Stanford Rapist fiasco has allowed the interwebs to dredge up Hillary’s getting EVEN WORSE rapists off the hook in the past all on their own. The VoteVagina crowd is pretty pissed.

    8. I need more evidence. Strikes me as a fake account trolling. But maybe not. I want to know who that is before saying anything

      1. I think it’s real, but the claim will be that “the account was hacked” after the greater community takes this group aside to explain things.

    9. Well, for one thing, I have to agree with the guy who asked ‘How is Trump Homophobic?’. WTF? You know, you can support Trump or not support Trump, but let’s all try to be honest. What has Trump ever said that could be considered homophobic? What, it’s ok to just accuse everyone you don’t like of being homophobic? I hate Clinton, but I wouldn’t call her homophobic because I don’t have any reason to even suspect it. She once said marriage is between a man and woman. That still doesn’t make anyone homophobic.

    10. Is that really an organization….or just a twitter account started in the past 6 hours?

  47. Fox News are going on and on, all of them, about the fucking automatic weapon and no one is calling them out on it.

    1. I’m sure someone is – just not in a venue where their audience sees it.

    2. On Fox? I haven’t seen them in at least a decade, but I’d assume they’d know better.

      1. You would assume wrong. My gawd, Bill O’Reilly is an insufferable douchebag.

  48. Omar ‘unhinged’ according to coworker.
    Yeah no shit.

Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce police officer, said Mateen frequently made homophobic and racial comments. Gilroy said he complained to his employer several times but it did nothing because he was Muslim. Gilroy quit after he said Mateen began stalking him via multiple text messages ? 20 or 30 a day. He also sent Gilroy 13 to 15 phone messages a day, he said.
“I quit because everything he said was toxic,” Gilroy said Sunday, “and the company wouldn’t do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people.”

Gilroy said this shooting didn’t come as a surprise to him.

    1. And no one said anything because that would have racism.

      1. And the FBI was apparently unaware of this.

        1. They were aware of it. He was investigated over it. What I can’t figure out is how a guy that was making threats to his co-workers was just allowed to stay on the job.

          1. “Freedom of religion”?

          2. They’re interviewing the co-worker on Fox right now, and it sounds like the guy was belligerent and hateful constantly, harassing people and saying certain people should be killed, especially gays.

And nothing.else.happened. Well, that is not until the guy killed 50 people.

      2. Exactly. The PC bullshit has got to go, it’s dangerous as hell, as well as totalitarian. The guy was harassing and making all sorts of inflammatory statements to his co-workers, and it wasn’t just this one guy. And yet they it go because of PC non-sense.

        1. Let the lawsuits begin. 8-(

        2. Islamophobiaphobia.

      3. I think that’s pretty much exactly what Gilroy was saying. I’m actually a little surprised the media source didn’t edit that right the fuck out.

If this aspect gets any mention at all, it’ll be because Omar had racist (it’s not really a race but nvm) coworkers and THAT pushed him to the brink.

I wonder how many times a day a Gilroy somewhere gets put in this position.

I also wonder if Gilroy was gay himself. The cite doesn’t really expand on what harassing messages he was being sent by Omar.

    2. “He was always smiling and just seemed like a very nice, positive person,” Dorsi said

You know who else smiled a lot and was generally congenial with his colleagues?

      1. Every douchebag boss ever?

      2. Not Robert Oppenheimer?

      3. Heath Ledger in Dark Knight?

  49. The pendulum swung a long way today.

That’s the problem with paying attention to the day’s top news story – you forget it’s only today’s top story. A week from now this will be old news endlessly repeated and a month from now it won’t matter at all. I really don’t think the pendulum swung at all today. It’s going to be just more “a criminal used a gun so we should take away non-criminals’ guns” stupid crap on the one hand and after San Bernadino it seems pretty obvious to me the gun grabbers have gone as far as they’re going to get. On the other hand you’ve got one more example of whipping up fear of some bogeyman that necessitates shitting our pants and hiding under our beds and giving the government as much power and money as they need to save us from the bogeyman. Don’t give in to the fear, the Muslim hordes aren’t really any worse than plenty of other enemies we’ve faced. (Although, as others have pointed out, it does seem pretty strange that one guy could shoot this damn many people without a dozen or so of them bum-rushing him and beating him to a bloody pulp. Have we really become this damn weak and helpless as a society that we’ve lost a basic self-preservation instinct?)

I had thought about making a joke about how the club might cater to a particularlly effete clientele, but I sat and thought for a moment. When faced with a disparity in firepower, how many people will respond to the fight or flight response with fight? Especially when not particularly primed for a violent life and death struggle? I think the first reaction for many or all of the victims was “get out of here”. What I want to know is how they ended up trapped in the building. A club holding at least a hundred and three people should have multiple exits, and with a single gunman, it’d be unlikely he could cover them all. How many got out? How many tried to escape but went the wrong direction and got shot?

      1. Yeah the details on the actual event are still rather sketchy because of course it’s not about the actual event. But I read somewhere he managed to take (30+?) hostages. So there may be a lot going on here we aren’t really sure about.

AmSoc said something earlier that kinda rings true, basically insinuating they were all on X. I doubt that’s actually the case, but they were all intoxicated for sure. That’s just the reality of the club scene. It can be pretty damn hard to find exits in those clubs sometimes. Omar apparently took out the bouncer first, so he might have been in complete control of the only exit anyone was really familiar with (the front door). /speculation

        1. The only article I’ve seen so far that’s outlined the details in any kind of coherent way has been this one: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new…..tages.html

It says that there were 350 people in the club at the time the shooting started. So 250 must have been able to use alternate exits.

I wish there were more detailed accounts about what actually happened. I’m really confused about the timeline of his 9-1-1 call where he proclaimed ISIS allegiance. When did he make that call and where from? Like, outside the club right before he started shooting? Or earlier?

          1. A bouncer knocked down a partition between the club area and an area in the back where only workers are allowed. People inside were able to then escape through the back of the club.

But he STILL shot 103 people and took another ~30 hostage out of 350?! I’m guessing, right now, that that weapon was already illegal.

    2. Sure they are no worse but we took some pretty drastic measures to defeat the others. And we didn’t beat them by saying “hey our enemies murdering Americans by the score is just the price we pay for civilization “. We beat other enemies by murdering them not saying them murdering us is just one of those things.

      1. But the enemies we face now are thousands of times less dangerous.

        1. Good point. Best to wait until things get a lot worse.

          1. It’s going to. Hell it JUST DID.

          2. There’s not much reason to believe they will. The only way to end the danger quickly is to end state sponsors of Islamic terrorism. I’m hoping Iran and Saudi Arabia just destroy each other.

            1. Seems to me that Islamic terrorism has been heating up quite a bit in the western world lately. How is it that we shouldn’t believe it will?

Does the JV squad have state sponsors? I thought they were pretty much widely hated because they want to “go too far” with the whole caliphate thing and that endangers entrenched governments in the region.

              1. “Seems to me that Islamic terrorism has been heating up quite a bit in the western world lately. ”

                It’s still minute.

Fact is, most maybe all of those people who went to join ISIS in the Levant are going to get slaughtered. They are going to die. ISIS is losing. This is a great opportunity to ‘detox’ the places where those people came from.

                1. Sure. It’s certainly not an existential threat. And therefore nothing to compromise liberty over.

But ISIS falls, something worse crops up. Seems to be the pattern.

                  1. I don’t see that pattern at all. ISIS really isn’t worse than AQ. The jihadists who get slaughtered aren’t just going to grow back.

  50. A sonnet read during the Tonys? Have the gays no shame?!?!?

    1. You’re watching the Tonys? I’m not even going to say what that is.

      1. I’m a multicultural Renaissance man.

        1. Me too. That’s why I’m watching a bunch of Brazilians and Peruvians kicking a ball around.

          1. I watched most of the US game yesterday, but that is just because I am a nationalist.

          2. Damn, you just reminded me.

            1. Well, that was interesting.

              1. Tell me about it.

Brazil were jobbed. But man, that was a putrid performance on their part.

USA drew Ecuador. Not bad. The semis are realistic indeed.

                1. Now I’m kind of pissed we didn’t draw Peru.

Oh well, at least I got to see a Hand of God live in my lifetime.

And yes, I’m kind of happy Brazil are out. That’s what you get for phoning it in.

                  1. “We” meaning my country 🙂

    2. You all laughed when Nikki wanted to eschew moms, but now there’s a group of them protesting gun violence outside the Tony awards. Stupid moms.

      1. You know who else eschewed stuff?

          1. He has something to hide

        1. eschewed

          1. eschewwwwwww

            /no teenage girl ever

      2. Was it Moms Demand Action? Because I always thought that’d be a great porn title.

      3. Weird, pretty sure the people involved with the Tonys are completely on board with gun banning.

  51. I just went to Drudge. God Dammit. Stop posting this guy’s picture like he’s Justin Fucking Bieber.

You make this guy famous, and you’re gonna get a lot more of this shit.

    1. If that isn’t a punch-face, I don’t know what is. I guess if we have to see him everywhere for awhile, that’s the photo he should be remembered by.

    2. +2 Tsarnaev brothers

      1. He’s got the James Dean daydream look in his eyes.

        1. And I got that red lip classic thing that you like

          1. That’s the one song of hers I’ll admit to liking. She’s no Anna Kendrick. Anna’s an angel.

                1. here’s one

(did I first learn about it here?)

      2. Rolling Stone mag-rag is on it.

        1. Otherwise they might have to report on today’s hip music, and who wants that.

          1. “The Pulse Club Massacre: Jackson Browne Weighs In”

            1. And why he’s running on empty with the NRA!

  52. If there were some way to show fundamentalist Moslems etc. boys kissing boys & girls kissing girls, & showing them years later to assure them that nothing bad happens as a result, that’s about the only way I’d see this sort of thing working. People need assurance that gays & lesbians are harmless. Took a long time with pot, but maybe it could be done for alternative sexual practices too.

    1. Dude, he lived in Orlando. Lack of exposure to “alternative sexual practices” wasn’t the issue.

      1. Does Shariah have a tolerant view towards gays? Just curious.

        1. According to Wiki:

In Afghanistan, Brunei, Iran, Mauritania, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen, homosexual activity carries the death penalty

        2. Yes! Unlike many crimes against God, they allow the criminal to offer last words.

          1. So, still not as bad as American Christians, amirite?

            1. Well that depends if you think there’s any actual difference between “throwing people from buildings” and “refraining from public-approval”….

              1. That’s a mighty fine line you’re drawing there. What do you think happens right before the throwing from building part? That’s right, refraining from public approval!

Seriously, even when I was a kid growing up surrounded by crazed Baptist fundamentalist, all they ever said was that gays were going to hell if they don’t get saved and stop being gay. I never once heard anyone say they should be killed. And that was in the Pleistocene Epoch.

      2. You got a better idea? I’m afraid that if Mohamed came back & told him, no, homosex is OK, he’d’ve just said, sorry, Mohamed, you’re wrong about that, and if you make it a requirement of being Islamic to tolerate them, then I quit & start my own anti-homo religion. And in that one, you’re an infidel, Mohamed!

Can you think of any other way? Sound trucks blaring all day & night, “Gays are your friends! Don’t hurt them!”? Give people electric shocks when they have anti-gay ideas?

  53. I don’t know if it’s the protocol, but don’t all presidential candidates typically make a statement on something like this? Has Gay Jay said something yet?

    1. He’s still trying to figure out who not to offend.

    2. The classy thing to do is say nothing.

      1. Trump is going to say nothing best of all. He’ll get the best people on saying nothing. We’re gonna say the classiest nothing of all. It’ll make your head spin, you won’t believe it.

      2. I’m not going to argue with that point, I just was curious if the norm is to say something. I also assume that eventually he’s going to be asked the question anyway.

I think what a libertarian candidate should say is something like ‘Look, things happen, there are bad people in the world. And while we should do everything we can to protect Americans and minimize these type of events, one thing we should not do is attempt to disarm Americans or deny them any other of their guaranteed constitutional rights. We cannot sacrifice liberty in the name of safety.’ I would be happy if he says something like that.

        1. Every public figure who has commented at this point has embarrassed himself.

          1. Well, none of them believe what I wrote. I’m sure they would all ridicule that statement.

      3. That explains all the comments here.

        1. BOOM goes the dynamite

    3. From Facebook, about 8 hours ago:

In this immediate aftermath of what is clearly a tragic and despicable attack, our thoughts must be with the victims. Regardless of what the motivation is ultimately found to be, this violence against innocent people simply going about their lives is both cowardly and infuriating.

We must allow the authorities to do their jobs, understand how this attack came about, and then respond accordingly. It is not a time to either politicize or jump to conclusions.

      1. If it has been some rebel flag waving redneck, do you think they would have come to these same conclusions?

  54. So if the point is to exploit the crime (I almost said “tragedy”), then why not do it properly?

Introduce the “Harvey Milk Stonewall Pulse Club Human Dignity Act,” and have the law specify that All american citizens, of all sexual orientations or none, enjoy the right to self-defense and the right to keep and bear arms, and specifically they have the right to bear arms in any private property whose owner allows it.

Then scream at whoever opposes the law and call them hoplophobic homophobes.

    1. Eddie, that’s so crazy it just might work.

  55. So now Geraldo is now going on a pants shitting rant about how one of these jihadist is going to sneak a ‘huge nuclear bomb’ into some club… in his pants I assume. And the entire Fox derptard brigade are telling him how rational this fear is.

    1. BTW, whatever happened to the ‘suitcase’ bomb scare? Did enough people figure out that it was bullshit and they had to drop it? Except maybe Geraldo, anyway.

      1. Perhaps they consulted someone who explained that the threat was bullshit.

      2. People still think 24 is a realistic depiction of the War on Terror.

        1. We have an entire rule at airports based on people who believed that Die Hard with a Vengeance portrayed actual binary liquid bomb technology.

      3. Wow they are really beating the drums about silly civil liberties also. You can’t blame law enforcement for this, they’re just not allowed to do anything to protect us because we won’t give up this silly privacy and civil liberties talk. Fuck you assholes, I’ll take my chances with the terrorists.

        1. Just when you think that the left is so awful you can throw in with mainstream conservatives, you can always count on Geraldo and Fox News to bring on the authoritarian derp.

          1. The left being so awful is no reason to throw in with conservatives, even though they’re typically not as awful. Only they can be and they’re showing it right now.

          2. Geraldo is in no way a conservative.

          3. Geraldo IS part of ‘the left’

    2. He’s still around? (And alive?)

      1. And more of a giant douche than ever.

  56. Thought you guys would like to read this little exchange in the comments section of Marcotte’s article on Salon. The bolded part is in the original. Apparently Christian bakers all secretly wish to murder all homos, and it’s only fear of prison that restrains them. How do we know this? Because they go out and kill gays every chance they get.

    Lance Haworth

Because not having a wedding cake and the then winning thousands of dollars in a law suit is exactly the same as going into club and 100+ people killing 50+ of them.

    @Lance Haworth

The difference is fear of punishment: homophobic bakers don’t shoot their gay clients in the face when they enter their store because they know they’ll be sent to prison for murder. They refuse to sell them cake because they believe/hope that they’ll get away with petty bullying.

Omar Mateen, on the other hand, didn’t care about punishment. Therefore he allowed his homophobia to drive him toward its murderous (and self-destructive) conclusion.

@Laurent Weppe @Lance Haworth Another person who “knows” why Christians don’t murder innocent people – even those they disagree with – because “they would if they could”…

Rubbish! You people have no sense of proportionality! Good grief, have you all gone mad??

    @dirtydiverdave @Laurent Weppe @Lance Haworth

It’s not “Christians fundies would if they could”. It’s Christian fundies do when they can.

    1. Yes, they’ve all gone stark raving mad. This entire situation–Muslim nut massacring gays–has fried their brains with cognitive dissonance.

      1. It’s because they cannot accept that anyone who is not a straight white western male could possibly disagree with them on anything, let alone not like them. That is not the narrative and the narrative trumps everything, including reality.

        1. I prefer National Review. Their pants shitting over The Donald is endlessly entertaining. I’d never vote for him, nor for Herself, but to watch NRO, I’d almost do it just to enjoy MOAR PANTS SHITTING.

          1. It’s really weird that a group on CAIRS Islamophobe list is now stuck denouncing Trump for whatever they’re going to denounce him for whilst still being labeled Islamophobic.

I also appreciate that my browser’s spellcheck doesn’t recognize Islamophobe or Islamophobic as words.

          2. It’s not pants-shitting if it’s wholly justified.

            1. You’re saying… That the ACLJ is Islamophobic… Or what?

              1. Ugh jeez. My eye for this threading is still off.

                1. I wish they’d learn to use CSS and javascript to collapse these white spaces when you have trolls blocked, man that is fucking annoying.

              2. No, that Trump is a catastrophe. The perfect weapon of annihilation for progs and the DNC to wield. If you can get your enemy to cut his own throat, effortless victory is yours.

                1. You’re not very smart, are you?

                  1. I hope you’re talking to someone else. I’m one of the smartest posters here, which isn’t saying a whole lot admittedly.

                    1. Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce your better: Cytotoxic, a 13 year old retard.

                    2. A 13-year-old Canadian retard who thinks he’s an expert on American politics.

    2. What sort of morally and intellectually bankrupted cretins are those people at Salon?

      1. I assumed this was what passed as a mainstream commonly held opinion in Canada ; )

        1. It’s not THAT bad here.

        2. We can be derpy but not THAT derpy.

The species we see at Salon is its own entity.

          1. You ever read anything at New Republic? They’re just as bad as Salon.

            1. Yes I know. And that used to be a solid liberal magazine once upon a time.

      2. progtard Bernie supporters

    3. Well, give the progtards a little credit anyway, at least they were right about how gun free zones would prevent… oh wait…

    4. So if a phobia for gay people leads someone to murder, what stops people with other phobias from murdering? Say, arachnophobes from killing spiders. Because I’ve lived with a couple and they can’t be in the same room as spiders, let alone kill them.

  57. So I guess America’s political discourse has now turned into ‘We need to ban guns!” “No we need to ban Muslimz!”.

Oh, and anyone who thinks today’s events swung the pendulum an iota is a moron. Trump is still going to get creamed.

I honestly think he might drop out.

    1. Christ today’s events are likely to provide more fodder to the gun grabberz than the Muslim banners.

      1. If you knew anything about this country, you’d know that gun control is deeply unpopular with most Americans

        1. No shit lap. Not to mention that this is, as far as ‘issues’ go, so obviously not about guns so much as ideology to anyone even halfway paying attention. The gun grabbers will just keep digging that hole, regardless.

          Shovel-ready jobs indeed.

        2. And I do know that. Thing is, that could change.

          1. Believing that demonstrates just how deeply ignorant you are of American politics.

    2. Why do you keep citing an article published two days before the attack as evidence of anything after the attack? Can you not tell time either?

  58. Reason was such a better chatroom when Postrel was the admin….

    1. Postrel had to leave because the commentariat offends her highness.

      1. I offend myself, so I can understand.

      2. Can’t blame her. She should return and clean it up.

      3. If she read one Sugarfree’s stories, she’d shriek-vomit until she died.

  59. I’m just gonna say this – thank God the Religion of Peace was in no way invoked in this latest shootup. Yessiree, cause that’s never, ever the problem, the people who follow the Religion of Peace. I did already see a “Thanks NRA” article somewhere that I avoided. But let’s not draw any conclusions about maybe Religions of Peace being the drivers for these things. Prolly just a kinetic workplace cis disturbance perpetrated by Southern Rebel Flag White Male Trump Voters.

Please return to your normal activities!

    1. Islam was the religion of peace before they came here and got bad ideas from American Christians.

      1. *SNORT*

  60. Oh, I see Cytofascist is here. Time to leave then. Bye, all! Maybe Postrel can come back and clear him out when she tidies up, as he suggests.

    The irony – it BERNS.

    1. Adios asshole.

I doubt I’d be one of the ones she’d clean out. I’m one of the very few good commenters left here.

    2. Do you know how to use the block feature?

      1. [echo chamber intensifies]

  61. I’m a Gay Activist, and After Orlando, I Have Switched My Vote to Trump

I also now realize, with brutal clarity, that in the progressive hierarchy of identity groups, Muslims are above gays. Every pundit and politician — and that includes President Obama and Hillary Clinton and half the talking heads on TV — who today have said “We don’t know what the shooter’s motivation could possibly be!” have revealed to me their true priorities: appeasing Muslims is more important than defending the lives of gay people. Every progressive who runs interference for Islamic murderers is complicit in those murders, and I can no longer be a part of that team.

I’m just sick of it. Sick of the hypocrisy. Sick of the pandering. Sick of the deception.

And you know what makes me angrier still? The fact that I have to hide my identity and remain anonymous in writing this essay. If I outed myself as a Trump supporter, I would be harassed and doxxed and shunned by everyone I know and by the Twitter lynch mobs which up until yesterday I myself led.

    1. I hope this guy realizes that the left do not care about anyone, they just use people to achieve their objectives.

If I outed myself as a Trump supporter, I would be harassed and doxxed and shunned by everyone I know and by the Twitter lynch mobs which up until yesterday I myself led

Well, that should tell you all you need to know about the useful idiots on the left.

      1. Also, find new friends.

    2. “I’m gay, and now I feel comfortable telling you why I was going to vote Trump all along.”

      1. Yeah, probably didn’t change from a Clinton to a Trump supporter in a matter of hours.

    3. I also now realize, with brutal clarity, that in the progressive hierarchy of identity groups, Muslims are above gays.

And this kinda bugs me. He never really mentioned that the whole idea of a victim hierarchy is a bad idea or absurd. Simply that his tier in said hierarchy is now passe. Really sounds like he’s butthurt about that as much as anything.

      1. See, he’s all butt hurt here that muslims are more special than gays. He still doesn’t get it, he’s still trapped in the delusion that all the special groups are only as important to progressives as they are useful as a tool towards the leftist goals. This person needs to realize that once the left have achieved complete power, they will do what the left always do once they have that grip on power and that is to become an oppressive totalitarian regime that will take all your rights away if they are not useful to the state.

        1. Guys, he’s had, what, 24 hours? Give him some time. I think he’ll realize that identity politics doesn’t work.

          1. He should find new friends. Progressives are like cancer. Would you want to hang around people you knew would attack you for having different opinions?

If I outed myself as a Trump supporter, I would be harassed and doxxed and shunned by everyone I know

Why would you want to have friends like that?

          2. If he was going to realize that he wouldn’t be supporting Trump. It’s ID politics all the way down.

              1. Canada’s Supreme Court has legalized oral sex with pets as long as no penetration is involved in a ruling slammed by animal rights groups

I just burst out laughing when I read that, I couldn’t help it. It’s just so fucking stupid. I mean, can you just hear the back and forth about that ‘Well, it’s ok to lick your dogs arse as long as there’s no penetration’. This is what happens when you let retards be judges. and you make Zoolander your president.

So, has Zoolander legalized weed yet or is he too busy with worrying about dog ass lickers?

                1. I do look to see lots of Muslims and their camels in Canada soon.

                  1. As long as there’s no penetration.

Seriously, that’s the actual ruling? Like that’s where Fido or Trigger draws the line?

I would think a frightening growl and a snapping of teeth would be enough indication for “nonconsensual”.

This woman I used to know told a bunch of us a story late into a night of drinking on a ski trip. Apparently her pal left her husband because he couldn’t stop fucking the family dog. She’d told him it was the dog or her, and later that same night she caught him fucking the dog again, so she moved out.

And until this news story I always thought that story was bullshit.

                2. Oh Zoolander is dragging his heels as much as he can to avoid biting the hemp bullet. What a worm he is.

That ruling is correct though, and Zoolander will, to his credit, be bringing in more immigrants. We need all of them.

        2. I see it like layers of an onion. This fella has apparently broken out of the first layer, which is to say: he now realizes that he can also be hurt by the victim hierarchy he has supported. The next layer is realizing that the victim hierarchy is hogwash to begin with. There are a few more layers after that. I have very little hope that he will get there, but I’ll be waiting at the finish line with a bottle of Gatorade if he does.

    4. “I also now realize, with brutal clarity, that in the progressive hierarchy of identity groups, Muslims are above gays.”

Only if that stance looks to deliver more votes.
What the writer ignores is the proggy push for ‘identity politics’, not the preference for one identity over the other.

      1. Baby steps.

        1. Maybe, but it’s the difference between degree and function.
John claims we should deny Muzzies entry into the US; why not deport xian fundies?
If you’re making baby steps that lead you nowhere, why would that be helpful?

          1. If you’re making baby steps that lead you nowhere, why would that be helpful?

Who knows if they are to be helpful or not? (Provided the person who wrote the article is real) I know I didn’t become a libertarian over night. It took time for me to start left, go right, and ultimately find something that made real sense to me. Maybe this is this fellow’s beginning of that kind of journey. Maybe not, but it’s better than not having any awareness at all.

          2. When Mormons acted nuts, they were driven out of the rest of the country to Utah, where eventually they toned down their nutso behavior, kicking out all the really crazy ones (like Romney’s Grandfather) to Mexico (where I think they all either died out or eventually became uncrazy and came back)

      2. Give him time.

  62. Mrs. Obvious!:
“Updates: Ex-wife of gunman says he was mentally ill”

‘Cause I don’t want to spend the next hour arguing with eddie et al, I’ll just leave that here.

    1. Sloppy seconds for Crusty?

    2. The most disturbing thing in that article was evidence that someone spent the last few moments of their life “texting” OMG IM GONNA DIE rather than acting in self-defense.

  63. Does Nick Gillespie even want to work here anymore?

  64. NY Daily News gets to the real culprit.

    1. I find that whole twitter feed incredibly disgusting.

  65. I remember last year when a jihadi shot up the military recruiters in TN, random armed dudes started hanging out in the parking to protect recruiting offices.

Trump supporters should offer to guard gay night clubs.

    1. Ha, good idea.

    1. Well yeah. Of all the hundreds of criticisms you can make towards Trump, he’s not against trannies (or gays, as far as I know).

      1. But he’s not *for* them either, and really – if you’re not for something then you must be against it. That’s how it works with everything else apparently.

  66. Islamic Twitter on Orlando. Boy, there sure do seem to be a lot of Muslim supporters for deranged lone nuts who make their religion look bad….

  67. Connect the dots.

The gunman who murdered at least 50 people in a Florida nightclub early Sunday morning was a follower of a controversial gang leader-turned-bank robber who was released from prison last year despite warnings from prosecutors that he would recruit people to carry out violent acts, sources told FoxNews.com.

Omar Mateen, whose bloody siege inside a packed Orlando gay nightclub ended when SWAT teams stormed the building and killed him, was a radical Muslim who followed Marcus Dwayne Robertson, a law enforcement source said.

“It is no coincidence that this happened in Orlando,” said a law enforcement source familiar with Robertson’s history of recruiting terrorists and inciting violence. “Mateen was enrolled in [Robertson’s online] Fundamental Islamic Knowledge Seminary.”

Marcus Dwayne Robertson is a former U.S. Marine known as “Abu Taubah.”

  68. RE: “If he murdered because he saw two men kiss, I say: find someone to kiss”

What if I want to kiss my girlfriend.
    Oh, that’s right.
This radical muslim will kill me and my girlfriend anyway.
    She won’t wear a burka.
