Donald Trump Repeatedly Refuses to Disavow Support From Former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke
Trump claims he doesn't know who Duke is. He did in 2000.

Over the course of his campaign, Donald Trump has managed to attracted openly racist supporters, including, most recently, David Duke, a former Ku Klux Klan (KKK) grand wizard who declared last week that voting against Trump would be "treason to your heritage."
So how does Trump feel about Duke's endorsement? Asked by CNN's Jake Tapper this morning whether he would disavow Duke's endorsement and the KKK, the GOP repeatedly declined to do, saying, instead, that he just didn't know much about David Duke.
Here's what Trump said:
I don't know anything about David Duke, OK? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don't know. I mean, I don't know — did he endorse me or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.
When Tapper followed up, clearly noting Duke's connection to white supremacy and the Ku Klux Klan, Trump again responded that he would "have to look at the group" before weighing in further.
I have to look at the group. I mean, I don't know what group you're talking about. You wouldn't want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. I have to look. If you would send me a list of the groups, I will do research on them. And certainly I would disavow if I thought there was something wrong.
Watch here, via CNN:

But Trump certainly knew who David Duke was in 2000. As The New York Times reported at the time, Trump declined to be a presidential candidate on the Reform Party ticket explicitly because of Duke's Klan connections:
Mr. Trump painted a fairly dark picture of the Reform Party in his statement, noting the role of Mr. Buchanan, along with the roles of David Duke, a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, and Lenora Fulani, the former standard-bearer of the New Alliance Party and an advocate of Marxist-Leninist politics.
"The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. Fulani," he said in his statement. "This is not company I wish to keep." [via Justin Green]
Indeed, Trump seemed to know who David Duke was last Friday, when he gave a flip disavowal of the former Klansman's support: "David Duke endorsed me? OK, alright. I disavow, OK?"
Since then, Trump appears to have decided to play dumb about Duke and the Klan, and to pretend that he knows nothing about them at all. That's a lie, and it's a lie that tells you plenty about the kind of campaign that Trump is running.
(Correction: The New York Times piece is from 2000, not 1990. Apologies.)

There was a pretty convincing article I read somewhere that Trump has all the symptoms of long-term sleep-deprivation. He admits he usually doesn't sleep more than 4 hours a night, and sometimes as little as 90 minutes. While some people are completely capable of sleeping that little regularly and not descending into nonsensical paranoid delusions... Trump doesn't seem to be one of them.
Donald has all the symptoms of a poorly educated ignoramus.
John Oliver's 20 minute takedown of Donald Drumpf:

i don't always appreciate oliver's take, but when he's right, he's wonderful.
If this thing about Trump and the KKK is true, then it is only further proof that he is more of a DEMOCRAT than a Republican.
I find his leftist tendencies more terrifying than any racist tendencies, and I've been the victim of white supremacist racial violence before, so that says a lot.
The skwerlz have graduated to attacking the article.
Sad to see Reason going with weak sauce like this.
Gee, I wonder who David Duke supported in the previous. Oh, that's right - nobody could be assed to care.
You know who else refused to disavow David Duke?
No, and I couldn't give a shit.
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning....
Well, Manchester United just won a game which always puts me in a foul mood.
A game of what?
A game of luck, and incompetence from the other side.
Snooker or wooster or loo-loo ball or something like that, certainly.
Australian something-or-rather. Makes sense.
DOTS WHY DEY CAWL IT SHPOOPLE!!!
I don't follow hockey.
In related news espn recently moved hockey out of the options in its visible menu bar and replaced it with soccer as if there are more than 10 people in the US who enjoy that pathologically boring sport.
Not on mine.
ESPN does not like covering sports that they do not contracts with. Especially if they are under a competing network.
If you knew Edwin Edwards like we knew Edwin Edwards, disvowing Duke might not seem so cut-n-dry - better the man that openly hates you than the man who smiles at you while he picks your pockets and perforates your kidneys [yes, plural] while he sings you a lullaby.
Murray Rothbard is a personal hero of mine, similar to my appreciation for Lysander Spooner, who hated Yankees as much as he hated the Slave Powers.
"So far: every one of these right-wing populist programs is totally consistent with a hard-core libertarian position. But all real-world politics is coalition politics, and there are other areas where libertarians might well compromise with their paleo or traditionalist or other partners in a populist coalition."
This is why "Libertarians" seem as stupid and ignorant as everybody else, now that I pay close attention to them. Stupid "libertarians" go along with stupid idiotic and ignorant society pretty much the same as everybody else does.
Sad to see Reason going with weak sauce like this.
That's pathetic.
Reason used to be a great magazine, a really good, great magazine. I liked Reason, a lot of my friends liked Reason, they used to have good writers. Now, they've got that, what's-her-name, Shiksa Dalmation or something? some kinda foreigner, probably an illegal immigrant, I'll have to check into her birth certificate, she's probably here illegally, we don't need that sort of thing, some ugly, stupid loud-mouthed broad taking jobs from decent hard-working Americans. Whatever. And that Robby guy? Robby Smoove or whatever? Some punk kid with terrible hair, nobody cares about, nobody reads that trash, nobody's ever heard of these guys. Can you believe they're saying this stuff about me? They're just a pathetic bunch of losers, just pathetic, nobody reads that magazine any more. Whatever. Nobody ever did read that magazine, it's never been a good magazine, I've never liked them. Never even heard of 'em, honestly. They're just stupid, a bunch of liars, alway lying about me just to get some attention. Sad, really, just sad. Whatever.
They're always lying. I ought to sue, but you can't sue them libel. The libel laws have no teeth. When I'm president, in a couple of years, we'll fix that. The media will have to stop lying or go to prison. Believe me, they'll stop lying.
Seriously, yesterday Trump expressed plans to eviscerate the 1st Amendment. (He learned that lesson from Lee Kuan Yew.)
Today he pretends that he has been asked an "ambush question" and says he does not know who David Duke is and does not know what the Ku Klux Klan is.
This guy looks worse and worse with each passing day.
I can only switch back and forth between cringing and shaking my head. The only hope that I have left is that Trump will pick a sane small government conservatarian for VP. When he is inevitably impeached for some major corruption of the constitution, with half of the Republicans joyously joining the Democrats in doing so, a sane person might finish the term.
^ Nailed it.
And the thing is, he did disavow. His demeanor was like, how in the hell am I suppose to control who supports me so yeah, I disavow, if that is what you need to hear. Everyone is grabbing at straws.
It is not who supports him but the utter ignorance and his comfort with being clueless that is the problem. There isnt another national political figure in america who doesnt know what the KKK is and who David Duke is. But Donald doesnt know today and be a lazy dumb-cluck he wont know tomorrow either .
Is that the same group that supports the tea party?
Has the tea party disavowed the racists in their midsts.
Have the Democritards?
no, racists don't think they're racist. Democrats are slave owners, they put some black "leaders" in charge to keep the others on the plantation. When some escape, they try to whip them back in line.
I'd just like to go on record as saying the only people more brain-dead than Trump are those who'd vote for him.
Below, John will explain to you why Trump still isn't really actually that bad and, I mean, come one, give the guy a break. Come. on.
Very elitist of you to notice.
OT: Only the good die young, evil lives forever. Mugabe turns 92.
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe celebrated his 92nd birthday with a lavish celebration Saturday, in a region of his country that is experiencing widespread drought and food shortages affecting 2.5 million of his people.
This year's festivities included concerts, parades and parties in his honor, and reportedly cost $800,000.
Meh, the guy is 92 let him party a little !
I hope Thugabe does an eternity of partying in Hell. By partying, of coursr, I mean suffering the most horrific of agonies. Perhaps several millenia of scaphism, for starters.
"I don't know anything . I know nothing "
Channeling John Bannerman?
I mean John Banner. Must have been distracted by Bob Crane's wife and all the hot Resistance chicks.
OT: Think of it as evolution in action
Call it a new battleground in the war on selfies -- the Indian city of Mumbai is launching police patrols to prevent photo-related fatalities.
The move follows a string of incidents that have made India a world leader in deaths by selfie.
Police say they've pinpointed locations around the Mumbai where they want to "restrain" people to prevent further casualties.
I like the warning with the idiot tumbling down the stairs and the camera spinning off in a different direction.
And they gave Bush, the lesser, shit for being a poor orator...
it's more than that. The whole claim of not knowing anything about Duke while being a political candidate requires a suspension of disbelief beyond human capacity. Acting like you've not even heard the name is on a par with Hillary's contention of never knowingly having lied.
I can't believe I'm doing this, but judging from only the information provided here, it's possible he's saying he doesn't know anything about Duke's endorsement. Frankly, I would give a similar answer. Candidates really shouldn't be answering for the actions of others. Trump has plenty to explain about his own actions.
In so far as anything Trump says can be said to "mean" anything, this:
And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.
...is difficult to parse any way other than he's claiming he doesn't know anything about Duke.
then that's what he should say. But the pretense of being totally unaware of who Duke is is wholly unbelievable.
I get that it's all a bit gotcha thing; then, say you're not going to engage in gotcha politics, that you're not going to speak to what might motivate other people, and move on.
I agree with this. The headline comes dangerously close to not matching the story. This thing feels like much-a-do about nothing, or at minimum, much-a-do about very little. Trumps xenophobia doesn't have to be sussed out by tangential support from shady political characters, we can listen to his words.
I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more of this kind of thing.
"Mr. Trump, when did you stop beating your wife?"
Donnie doesn't beat his wives, he cheats on them and throws them out when they start to wrinkle.
You say xenophobia like it's a bad thing. Xenophobia has served the human race very well for thousands of years. Without xenophobia, civilized people would not have the sense to avoid doing what idiots like Angela Merkel has done. Xenophobia is good for children and small defenseless goats, m'kay?
If Trump's saying he doesn't know, that's the first I've ever heard him admit he doesn't know something, anything. Donald Trump knows more about everything than everybody. And to say "I don't know" that many times in a few sentences? He knows.
The Trump hate and love is puzzling to me.
No matter how hard I try I just can't make myself take the guy seriously. I keep thinking he is going to say 'Gotcha!' and run off the stage.
I saw a snippet this morning of his latest exchange with Rubio. Rubio is just aping the Trump schtick. Is that what presidential politics has come to? Guys making fun of each other's faces? What is next, a literal dick measuring contest on stage?
Issues are boring and stuff.
The hate = signaling that they are right thinking goodthinkers.
The love = ? Just want to see it all burn down? I don't know.
I'm with you. It's clear that Trump isn't taking this seriously. I've said for a while now that he is probing for some just out of bounds statement that let's the air out of this balloon. It's a clown act by a bored rich egomaniac.
What I'd like to see is post-convention Trump go indy because of some shenanigans, real of imagined, that invalidates his no compete agreement with the stupid party. Then Bloomberg decides to burn through some of his cash to feed his own massive ego. Boom! It's Clinton/Abedin v. Rubio/Kasich v. Trump/Palin v. Bloomberg/Fiorina. That's entertainment.
Sadly politics isnt entertainment, or a game for venting uncontrolled juvenile rage. Politics has real consequences, lost jobs, deteriorating infrastructure, empty stores, confiscations, monetary debasement to worthlessness, political imprisonments and killings. Voting for angry strongmen with no respect for the constitution who view the law a an impediment leads to a failed society, like venezuela or cuba . Of course that cant possibly happen here, except that it has already started. If it isnt reversed by someone who believes in the rule of law, the constitution and freedom (and that isn't both of any of your pairs) we are in for unpleasant times
"What is next, a literal dick measuring contest on stage?"
It's not going to go that far, but I'm enjoying the absurdity of it all. I haven't seen such Alice in Wonderland craziness since decades ago when the senate grilled that judge over his taste in porn.
I think there will have to be a literal pissing contest first.
"Well, on the manhood thing, I'll put mine up against his any time." NTTAWWT.
Trump has already done so verbally stating in regard to his short stubby fingers, of which he is very sensitive, "I have long lovely fingers and other appendages " . This by the way is best oratory I have ever heard from the man, it even contains a 3 syllable word and so is probably ghost-written .
In fairness, this election seems unique in that every major candidate is hard to look at.
I think the guy really does have some form of dementia. The way he talks, he always sounds like someone recovering from a recent concussion. No idea how that's called charisma.
I understand the people who like to party with him. Anyone buying you any or all three b's (booze, blow, and blowjobs) is pretty damn likable at the time. But his face is pretty punchable to me even without having heard him speak.
"Anyone buying you any or all three b's (booze, blow, and blowjobs) is pretty damn likable at the time."
Sounds like W, a two termer, in his wilder days.
On some level I respect Trump for refusing to play this game. Every candidate has idiots endorse them, why must they all address each of them ? I'm sure Hillary has some endorsements far more vile than Duke, which isn't that great a school anyway.
Like the entire Democratic establishment? Moobs Schumer and the like are in much more of a position to screw us over than David Duke.
Like Obama sewed up endorsements from the Communist Party USA and the Socialist International. Funny that nobody on the Sunday Morning shows asked him about that.
Thanks for mentioning that, so I didn't have to. Just more double standards from the MSM.
I would like citations for that.
Hillary, herself, is far more vile than David Duke.
+1 Lacrosse team
Speaking of which, if Hillary Clinton gets Amanda Marcotte's endorsement, and she refuses to disavow it, I would find that to be just as demoralizing (though far less surprising) than Trump failing to disavow David Duke.
then that's what he ought to say - "a lot of people endorse candidates; why am I responsible for each one who sides with me?"
But feigning ignorance is, well, ignorant.
Because they are cowards and are afraid of the press. They are too stupid to realize that there are some who will never listen to them or give them credibility. As bad as trump is, he's the only one standing up exercising his first amendment rights. Like it or not and many don't, he says what he believes, even if its just at the moment. Funny that so many hate what he says he stands for which must mean they believe he is saying what he believes. We have no idea what cruz or baby rubes actually believes.
Well, Cruz and Rubio actually have some kind of political record. Trump is just another blank slate for people to project their hopes/fears onto.
Yea, rubes political record is telling the people of Florida, and the tea party, one thing about amnesty to get elected then quickly make a deal with the democrats opposite of what he ran on. What makes us thing he isn't doing the same thing on a larger scale?
it is the ignorance not the endorsement
He probably realizes that a vote is a vote, and having the support of David Duke isn't going to hurt him a bit. And likely he further realizes that the people having vapors over it aren't going to vote for him anyway. See "Ron Paul newsletters".
I hope charges of support from David Duke roll off Trump's back--and I despise Donald Trump.
This is the kind of smear progressives have rolled with for eight years (at least), and it's time for the PC gotcha brigade to be exposed as the shrill and limp wristed endless sources of amusement they should be.
David Duke is The Donald's secret boyfriend?
People like the Jerry Spring show. It makes them laugh.
Preach on!
Look, hillary is wrapping up the nom so the media needs to start working on the top front-runner.
Gop front-runner.
Agreed. "Racists approve of you!" shouldn't be rhetorical checkmate, but it's what you'd expect from the Progressives. They're obsessed with identity politics.
It's all the more absurd since it's not like David Duke is up there on a stage shaking Trump's had, but progressive racists like Al Sharpton get to tour the white house with the president and it's not considered a 'big deal.' The lefty versions of David Duke actually get broad respect from the Democratic party, which should be pretty galling.
"It's all the more absurd ... which should be pretty galling."
If the absurd galls you, you need to tune your attitude. Bring on the absurdity, I say, I love it.
It would be awesome if trump had a friend who's name was david duke, not the kkk duke but a friend. That way he could say yes, he is glad his friend david duke supports him, they spend time together regularly, he has given money to his very good friend david duke. Then when everyone finishes crapping themselves he brings out his friend and asks why they are so incensed.
almost stupid enough for Donnie to consider but not quite. Why bother he just says he doesnt know or care what the KKK is, or who David Duke is and lets today's trumpism eat up all the media coverage and drown out his hiring and cheating of illegal aliens, his chinese factories, the many lawsuits against him for fraud , etc .
Since you brought up Trump, Ted Cruz was apparently on the Sunday morning talk shows implying that Trump's tax returns may show he does business with "The Mob".
I can't see that this story will get any traction. For one thing, it is more appalling that Trump has been audited for 12 years in a row. Also, I suspect that, due to "The Sopranos", tying Trump to The Mob only makes Trump look cool.
You know what I'd like to see? Hillary's emails while she was taking donations from foreign governments.
Yeah. Let's see the Clinton Foundation's records laid bare. I'll bet there's stuff in there that makes possible mob ties look like pretty small beer, all things considered.
Cruz is a proven liar, thus, a great republican politician. At least trump will get the italian vote.
Ha! I get it! Cause Italians are all in the mob! You're so funny! Funny like an ass-clown.
Cuuz is a news non-person, the media's boy donald gets all the coverage for his daily inanity. Besides who would be interested in senior trump advisor and russian mobster felix sater, convicted once for fraud and once for stabbing someone in the face, or why Donnie paid twice the asking price for land in atlantic city owned by the gambino family , or why Donnie bought all his concrete from the salerno family and used concrete rather than steel to frame his towers. who cares .
The real reason Donnie wont release his tax returns is because he is nowhere near as rich as he claims. Independent estimates range from -300 million to 3 billion plus, depending on what the real estate market is. Donald has many debts and little in liquid assets . Moreover if he had invested his 200 million inheritance in the S&P 500 he would be worth 3.9 billion today . He wont release his tax returns because he would be revealed as a rich boy wasting his money pretending to be a mogul. Who cares about that either .
Just a couple of weeks ago I thought a Trump candidacy would be doomed to failure. He might impress a sizeable number of Republicans but has offended too many to mount a successful challenge to Clinton. Now, I'm not so sure. If Trump can hold back from offending voters with gratuitous insults, he must flankle Clinton on the left. He can do that on trade, and he can play up Clinton's urge to go to war with Russia. Both are Leftish issues, and Clinton stands to the right of most American voters on both of them. It's Trump's best bet, I think, and it will be fun watching Libertarians here urging support for Clinton.
it will be fun watching Libertarians here urging support for Clinton
George or Henry?
Whoever's running against Trump. It won't matter.
Yes, I love "true" libertarians who will always vote for the "lesser of two evils" as long as one of the "lesser" throw them a bone.
And invite them to the DC parties......most important !
another person who thinks politics is entertainment. Take a trip to venezuela, cuba or ukraine pal.
"another person who thinks politics is entertainment"
Politics is theatre. Whether it's entertaining or not is a matter of taste. Salesmanship is theatre too.
"Take a trip to venezuela, cuba or ukraine pal."

another person who thinks politics is entertainment. Take a trip to venezuela, cuba or ukraine pal.
Trump's father was in the KKK and his real name is "Drumpf". How did I not know this? You people were holding out on me!
This is Trump's strategy. CNN was trying to tie Trump to a racist so he denied knowing Duke. A simple google search reveals Trump disavowed Duke twice. Trump supporters see CNN as the liberal media trying to make him into a racist and failed. Trump's support goes up. Rinse and repeat.
The best thing that can happen for the democrats is for trump to be the gop nominee. I will be retired before i see hillary leave the Whitehouse. Seriously.
Maybe, Maybe not.
The best thing that can happen to the people is for trump to win the prez. Not because he may be good at it, or he even may be worst, but that the people may once again have a say in their gov't. That is why the establishment if freaking, "what? we can't manipulate the sheep like we used to? We will not have them thinking for themselves."
so why not disavow a third time ? Trump changes his mind every day , today he probably has forgotten who David Duke and the KKK are . I tend to believe him on that .
so, instead of denying that he wants anything to do with a racist, he lies about knowing who he is, and then defends that lie by saying there was a problem with the earpiece, which makes no sense because trump repeated the guy's name several times in his answer about not knowing him?
does that sum it up?
that's the most elaborate and idiotic strategy i've ever heard. and it will probably work with trump supporters.
There might be some minuscule voting block somewhere that wouldn't see this as political suicide, but it makes me think he really doesn't want to be pres.
The communist party endorsed
1988 Dukakis
1992 Bill Clinton
1996 Bill Clinton
2000 Al Gore
2004 John Kerry
2008 Barack Obama
2112 Barack Obama
I don't remember them disavowing the communist party
Why would democrats disavow the communist party?
+ 1 fellow travelers.
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Most of them don't think we gave the old USSR enough time to get communism to work.
2112??!!?!?
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
The more I read the original story from CNN, the stranger this whole thing seems to me. There are a thousand different ways they could have written the headline, but they chose a headline which doesn't quite match the story. For instance the real story is that Donald Trump is claiming he doesn't know who David Duke is when there's evidence that he does. They could have written the headline which reflected that directly. Instead they chose a headline which isn't what Donald Trump is actually doing. The headline seems to indicate that Donald Trump knows who David Duke is and accepts his endorsement.
This is another reason why I just find so much trouble trusting the media. Even a candidate that I will never vote for and can't stand, they can't seem to write a straight story about, even when there's plenty of negative stories that could be written that would be perfectly accurate. Yes, Donald Trump is a big fat xenophobe, we know this because he says it.
The media is full of despicable liars. I won't vote for Trump but I hope he'll get some libel laws enacted to clean up this mess.
Why shouldn't thin skinned politicians imprison anyone who criticises them ? Donald is just the guy to gut the 1st amendment and then work his way through the rest of them too .
This happens every 4 years where the media demands republican and only republican candidates disavow any whack job they can find that said they'll vote for them. It has nothing to do with the disavowing and everything to do with reinforcing the media narratuve about republicans and guilt by association. Liberal propaganda at it's worst.
At this point, I'm coming to the conclusion that there's a big enough disconnect between the headline and the actual story, that I'm wondering if CNN is playing three dimensional chess here. They write a story about Donald Trump, the headline is just inaccurate enough to anger Trump supporters thus pushing Trump further into the lead with the GOP voters. Realistically there's no way Trump will beat Hillary in the general, so this essentially ensures a Hillary victory for 2016.
I'm doing my best to imagine myself as a trump supporter and reading this headline. I think I would be pretty angered and would then be convinced that there is a Media conspiracy against my candidate and that would solidify my support for said candidate.
I think you're giving the drooling mongoloids in the media far too much credit. They're just doing their mendacious partisan thing like they always do.
Seriously, Paul, never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity or incompetence. Otherwise people just go into retard conspiracy theory land, which is the land that makes people morons, much like Disneyland.
I think the best thing Trump can do is to have his people put together a list of the most despicable people they can find who say they will vote for Hillary. Then everytime they ask that question turn it around and say did you ask Hillary if she is going to disavow this person or this person or this person? After you do that t5gen come back and ask me that question but until then I'm not playing your game and and letting you imply that my supporters are a bunch of racist just because you found one guy that says he's going to vote for me. You totally turn the tables, don't allow them to do it to you, but take the opprtunity to do what they are trying to do to yoiu to Hillary.
Sorry the Trump strategy is to say the most outrageous and ridiculous thing that pops into his head, such as that he has no idea what the KKK is or who David Duke is and then let the media repeat his nonsense for 24 hours shutting out anything any of the other candidates say, and making them non-persons. The media is delighted to give Dionnie all the free coverage and crush the other candidates . And Donnie doesnt have to think or work at all .
Speaking of 3D chess, I wonder what the Democratic candidates' strategy is regarding Trump. At this point, getting criticized by either Hillary or Bernie will probably only galvanize him among his supporters, but both know that they would do best in a general election against Trump, so they may actually criticize Trump deliberately in such a way as to galvanize him to improve his odds of winning the primary, while ignoring Rubio and Cruz so people forget about them.
We may be entering a new era of politics where you basically throw shit at the candidate you want to win.
Speaking of 3D chess, I wonder what the Democratic candidates' strategy is regarding Trump.
Easy. Hit him on wonky political issues, foreign policy, get a lot of friendly media outlets to play "gotcha" with Trump, making him name obscure foreign dignitaries and pronounce tricky names- make him state his position on those famously dicey on-the-one-hand type of unclear situations where there may or may not be American interests abroad, and it'll sink him like a rock.
Even moderate Republicans will vote for Hillary because she's not completely nuts.
"Even moderate Republicans will vote for Hillary because she's not completely nuts."
She scares the hell out of me. What was it about her gig at the state department impressed you as not nuts? I can't think of any accomplishment of hers but there must be something. What's the worst thing about Hilary? She used email improperly? Lied about it? If that's the case, I see growing support for her on this board already.
As soon as Trump becomes the candidate his daily ridiculousities will suddenly become unnewsworthy and he will become another new non-person the way cruz and carson are now. Instead his closet door will swing wind open and all the people he has defrauded and cheated will be telling their sad stories everywhere and all the time.
Except as stated in the article he did know who David Duke was and has denounced him before. He could've easily just denounced him again. And what sort of Political Campaign hasn't already warned their candidate that the hostile media that has questioned him on his prior statements about women, and immigrants were likely going to question him about this endorsement from David Duke?
" I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about."
Yeah coming from the guy who says "the blacks and hispanics love him" this is just stupid. Yes it unfair what the liberal media does to "conservative candidates" but lets stop pretending that these candidates didn't know what they were getting into. There are plenty of politically correct sacred cows out there that he can slay while still denouncing the Klan and White Supremacists, hell he could even bring up the Democratic Party's historic support for the KKK while doing it. Instead he put himself in a position to allow the liberal media to paint him as at worst a "Klan Sympathizer" or at best a moron.
I'm starting to agree with the other commenters, I don't think he actually wants to be President.
Yeah coming from the guy who says "the blacks and hispanics love him" this is just stupid.
One has nothing to do with the other.
The press wants to control the debate. If they can get trump to apologize they believe they are in control once again. That's why they freak when he says something outlandish, they call him on it and he doesn't care what they want. He makes them insignificant.
I was watching CNN this morning and it was a different CNN, I assumed it was because it was the weekend CNN rather than the weekday Chris Cuomo CNN. They had two sets of campaign analysis round-table type discussions, one had a Cruz advisor and a Rubio advisor and the other had no campaign spokesmen at all. Their normal discussion is a couple of media analysts and a Trump spokesman that I'm assuming they're trying to pass off as the full range of opinion, pro-Trump and not-pro-Trump. Maybe CNN thinks Trump has the primaries sewn up and it's time to go into general election coverage mode?
I believe that's close to what's happening now. I believe that the media is shifting its stance from the horse race primary coverage to the final serious general coverage. Hillary is pretty much locking up the Democratic nomination, so now we need to start framing the news in terms of general election specifics.
Much as I detest John McCain I did almost feel sorry for him with all the fawning press he got in the primaries about what a maverick he was with all his bi-partisanship and willingness to work with the Dems and what great commonsense moderate compromise ideas he had, and the minute he won the nomination he suddenly turned into just another right-wing extremist Hitler like the rest of them. Almost felt sorry - he should have known better what was coming.
He was naive, and was truly stunned when his buddies like Chris Matthews laid into him after the primaries.
but, but.....he changed!
Donald Trump made a campaign commercial for Benjamin Netanyahu in 2013:

So if he says nothing he gets the haters AND the Jews. Clever.

Suderman and McArdle are total establishment hacks.
Donald Trump is an establishment hack. He's actually pointed out that nobody in Washington likes Ted Cruz and all his followers cheered because Donald Trump is so down on those goshdarn establishment elites, the ones who hate Cruz but can work with Donald Trump.
"Donald Trump is an establishment hack."
If Trump opposes Free Trade, Immigration amnesty and miltary adventurism, he is anti-establishment. In key policies, at least.
Look at what trumps policies are, he is for touchback amnesty, he is for military adventurism, and you cannot possibly find a better example of a big money, big government elitist member of establishment and crony capitalist , all the way to owing half a billion to big wall st banks and being a major shareholder in goldman-sachs , than Donnie.
"Look at what trumps policies are"
Maybe you know better, I'm no expert on Trump.
That may be why some donors are looking into a third party in case baby rubio can't catch up. Maybe that's why the loser romney is looking to go back in if the baby boy continues to lose. Maybe that's why they are hoping for a brokered convention, that way Ryan can be nominated and baby boy rubio his running mate.
Cruz worked in W's Federal Trade Commission. He's a Harvard lawyer ex-bureaucrat, TOTAL OUTSIDER lol
Cruz has kept his promises to his constituents, works for a limited federal government, less taxation and regulation, and end to obamacare and the enforcement of immigrations laws. He also understands the constitution and has won cases before the supreme court, defending religious liberty and gun rights . That is why the establishment hates and fears him. Donnie on the other hand has supported and contributed to liberal democrats his entire life , is a crony capitalist who views the constitution as an impediment , the healthcare as good stuff and is as big an a member of the establishment as one can be, which is why all the RINOs and establishment cant wait to support him. Cruz is far more of an outsider than Donnie can even dream of being .
As usual, the point is missed. It's been months since the real story was Trump, what he believes, who he curries favor with, and what he is willing to say. That has all been clear months ago.
It's about who the GOP electorate is willing to support. Seems about 40% are OK with all this, and maybe more.
That's the real story. I guess you think they still won't vote for him. I guess you think the Republican Party won't support him. I guess you think others won't endorse him.
We will see.
But the elitists believe that the 40% are nothing more than stupid idiots, uneducated, southern, hillbilly, toothless, inbred, morons. That none of them have any thoughts of intelligence what so ever. They don't believe there's any reason a smart person would vote for him. A smart person would continue to vote for the same establishment types over and over again hoping for a different result, that a smart person would continue to fall for the same lines from those who are no friends of liberty over and over again hoping they are wrong. Sound's like an abbreviated version of the definition of insanity to me.
I have been a libertarian who votes conservative all my life. I have never voted for a democrat and I am not starting with donnie. It seems 60 % of republican may be like me. That and Donald's sky-high (and well deserved negatives) ensure he cant possibly beat Hillary and will lose, destroying the republican party for years to come in the process . This leaves conservatives and tea party folk homeless. This is just as Donnie and Bill planned. One wonders what Donnies payoff will be .
I know, those damned GOP voters! They'll support anyone! Not like your principled Team Blue friends. They certainly wouldn't support a lying hag or someone who embraces an ideology that led to 150+ million deaths over the 20th century.
Moral equivalency and all that, eh d3x?
By the way, ideology doesn't kill people. People kill people.
Right? No?
People who are strung out on ideological idiocies kill people... The usual ideological idiocy is something along the lines of, "I am righteous, and THEM THAR bastahds OVER THERE are anti-righteous! If we kill them all, deport them all and make them pay for the wall to keep them out, etc. -etc. - etc., gas them all, make them our slaves in work-camps till they die, THEN kill them all, and so on, THEN all will be A-OK, so vote fer MEEEE"!
Sound familiar? Wish some folks would learn from history...
Always tough with libertarians to tell when it's the guns that kill people or something else. You'll let us know in the future, I'm sure.
I have never, ever heard of a gun getting up and killing people, of its own volition. Have you? When people kill intentionally (generally called murder, if Government Almighty has not blessed said killing), they have a MOTIVE. They can use guns or knives or their bare hands, or just about any object at hand. It is usually hatred or greed or idiotic ideology, that drives them. I have now "let you know" the obvious.
When are YOU going to "let us know" with any kind of coherent argument, what you believe? The Donald will save us all? Or socialism will save us all? Enlighten us, please, instead of just coyly hiding behind your self-supposed cleverness.
Have you heard of Clinton killing anyone? Do let us know.
Have you heard of drugness killing intelligence? I bet you have... There are many-many drugs (psycho-active and not, "machs nix") that kill brain function.
Have you heard of smugness killing the only kind of intelligence that really-really matters? Just FYI for you; the only kind of intelligence that really-actually matters, is the kind that can persuade its fellow intelligences of ANYTHING at ALL! And smugness is what kills it...
So I say again... Have you heard of smugness killing intelligence? If you have, I trust that you will let us know...
In general terms, this is why I say, "Drugs not smugs". Too many drugs are a bad thing for many of us, yes... Too much smugness? Now THAT is a horse of a different color; WAY-WAY worse!
Do Libyans not count any more? How about Ambassadors?
To quote a dear friend of mine...
? Warren's Strapon|3.17.15 @ 5:05PM|#
Gozer the Traveller! He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveller came as a large and moving Torb! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex Supplicants they chose a new form for him--that of a Giant Sloar! Many Shubs and Zulls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day, I can tell you.
Yes its true.....this man has no dick
Yes I have , a couple in fact . Vince Foster comes to mind first and the women and children at waco second .
You know, I'm just kinda wondering how many deaths in America YOUR ideology supports. Let me know.
Team blue always asks the question to deflect, yet never delivers the answer.
Read again. I wasn't asked a question, but I did ask one.
Someone refused to answer and it wasn't me.
Ask a coherent question, and maybe you will get a coherent answer.
"Have you stopped beating your time-teleporter cyborg-slave yet? Yes or no, yes or no?!?!?"
There was no question there, dipshit.
Just more of your deflecting. And evading. And pretending that you aren't all about putting us in camps.
Where was the moral equivalency in my statement, except to anticipate your tired move of telling us why we should vote for Team Blue?
And why the hell am I arguing with you anyway? Fuck off, troll.
Goodbye.
He "disavowed" him on twitter 4 hours ago. (As Suderman noted)
Trump is inconsistent, but if he disavowed Duke 20 years ago and refused to be a candidate for his party, what incentive does he have in not disavowing him now?
If he didn't know about anything David Duke had done in the last 20 years, maybe he wouldn't want to denounce him.
you're looking for a logical reason. that's your first mistake.
What I don't get about these guys endorsing candidates, if they really want Trump to win, why not endorse Clinton?
Anyone notice CNN changed it's headline for this story?
Mmmhmm. Exactly.
Its. autocorrect + no edit button = stupidity squared.
Where are the dozens of articles discussing the failure of presidential nominees to denounce all members of racist organizations like La Raza, Black Lives Matter, The Democratic Party, the NAACP, etc.
Or how about just the articles discussing the failure of presidential nominees to denounce Robert Byrd, the former Democratic Senate Majority Leader, Democratic Senator til 2010, and Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops of the KKK?
I also note that our current President had belonged to a Black Supremacist Church for most of his adult life until he took some political heat for it.
Where are the outraged articles denouncing Obama for that, or the articles denouncing those who continued to support him after his allegiance was made public?
"Where are the outraged articles denouncing Obama for that"
Have you tried the Internet? Type Obama secret muslim into a search engine. There shouldn't be any shortage of the Obama denouncing you're asking for.
Aside from that, my advice, don't let yourself get caught up in these manufactured outrages cooked up and dished out by the press.
I didn't find many of those articles on CNN.com, which is the point being made.
"I didn't find many of those articles on CNN.com"
Find yourself a newsource that prints what you enjoy reading. CNN can print or not print pretty much anything they want.
Always confused me how some of the same people bashed Obama for being a black christian supremacist and a radical muslim at the same time.
Did Trump really repeat his words exactly? Or is this something to question?
Trump called Pat Buchanan a neo-nazi?
Buchanan is certainly soft on nazis,, but he's not a nazi, neo or otherwise.
Yeah, I'm having trouble believing Trump didn't recognize Duke's name.
And this just in... Senator (GOP) Pete Sessions has joined Chris Christie and at a minimum 40% of Republican voters who now support Trump.
Let us know Peter when you finally understand that the problem you hint at goes much further than just Trump in the GOP.
I heard a child abuser is supporting Trump, has he disavowed the support? news at 11
He might impress a sizeable number of Republicans but has offended too many to mount a successful challenge to Clinton.
The truly hilarious aspect of this David Duke kerfuffle is that David Duke would no doubt do a better job helping American black folks than Obama the international Globalist criminal has. By keeping foreigners out David Duke would be a better friend to blacks than any President since Abe Lincoln. I meant hilarious in an ironic and sad way, not a funny ha ha what a joke kind of way.
Trump was stupid. Why dance around it? Just say "Duke is a moron and I do not value support from idiots like him". Trump has disavowed it at other times, but the way he does it seems less angry than words he has used to bash other republicans.
I personally don't think Trump likes Duke. But he knows part of the support he gets is hard core racists attracted by his illegal immigrant bashing, but don't care what Trump thinks of race relations.
As a Constitutional Christian Libertarian I figured out some time ago that some Libertarians belong in the Democrat Party, and they are subversive when they pretend to be anything other than sympathetic to the libertinism and the racialism of the liberal Democrats. Liberal Democrats don't want to solve problems between races, they want to promote problems and use them to advance their Marxist revolutionary agenda. I don't like David Duke, and even more so I don't agree with his attitude about race as he seems to express it. I believe that God has made all men everywhere of one blood in Christ Jesus. But being of one blood does not mean everyone can come to my country and start collecting a welfare check and food stamps. Being of one blood means that we can accept each other as fellow members of the human family and if we are citizens of the same country, then as fellow citizens, too.
I accept American blacks, for example, as pure Americans, who happen to have arrived here on this continent before my own particular ancestors, and I celebrate them as my fellow countrymen, and hope they accept me as a latecomer And I have honest and sincere concern for their interests, and as such I oppose most vehemently the introduction of large numbers of foreigners who will take away their jobs and make their lives worse. A few is OK, but mobs are bad for the nation.
