Trump Threatens Suit Against Cruz, but Don't Have Sympathy for the Senator

It's blowhard versus blowhard.

Donald Trump, portrait of toughness and courage:

Twitter

The above is the latest in a series of tweets complaining about people being mean to him by campaigning against him. He asks why Cruz can call himself an evangelical Christian when "he lies so much and is dishonest?"

He is being a bit whiny, but it turns out he does have a point. This Twitter attack is in response to an attack from Cruz in South Carolina claiming that Trump and Sen. Marco Rubio have the same position as President Barack Obama on gay marriage.

According to Politico, the basis for this claim is that Trump and Rubio have both acknowledged that the Supreme Court ruling is the "law of the land," a thing which is, you know, factually accurate. It is not an indication that Rubio and Trump support same-sex marriage recognition. They do not. Both of them have indicated they want to appoint Supreme Court justices that would overturn last year's decision that mandated states recognize gay marriages.

So it's one of those situations where Trump is being a typical classless jerk, but he's not wrong. Cruz's attack is fundamentally dishonest. When politicians pull nonsense like this, it makes it harder to paint Trump as lying or exaggerating or saying whatever gets support, doesn't it?

  1. You know who isn’t losing sleep over Trump threatening a lawsuit? Ted Cruz.

    1. You know who else isn’t losing any sleep?

      1. Cthulhu?

      2. Coma patients?

      3. Coma patients?

      4. Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

        1. WoodchipperPatriarch already said “coma patients.”

          1. Twice, even.

  2. Trump and Rubio clearly want to have it both ways, where they can suggest that they are fine with the state of affairs on gay marriage but would also like some of that sweet, sweet traditional marriage vote. If Roe v Wade couldn’t be overturned, neither will the other SC decisions that SoCons hate. Cruz’s statement is obviously hyperbolic, but not terribly inaccurate on its merits: more likely than not, Trump and Rubio will continue to play Obama’s role in the WH as someone who doesn’t push any gay marriage issues, but who will enforce the decisions carried out by others on the subject.

  3. Trump is such a fucking cunt he actually makes me root for Cruz.

  4. I don’t understand Trump here. If he truly thinks Cruz isn’t a citizen, what difference does it make if he “doesn’t clean up” his act or do negative ads? How is that relevant, Donald?

  5. “…Trump and Rubio have both acknowledged that the Supreme Court ruling is the “law of the land,” a thing which is, you know, factually accurate.”

    Oh, really?

“…the candid citizen must confess that if the policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court, the instant they are made in ordinary litigation between parties in personal actions the people will have ceased to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned their Government into the hands of that eminent tribunal. Nor is there in this view any assault upon the court or the judges. It is a duty from which they may not shrink to decide cases properly brought before them, and it is no fault of theirs if others seek to turn their decisions to political purposes.”

  6. The Libertarian party is the party of perversion — a most deadly perversion in the case of men having sex with men. Also, the Libertarians claim to be the most American of parties; however, their big hero Thomas Jefferson thought that women who have sex with women should have a part of their faces gouged out and men who have sex with men should be castrated (a most extreme view IMHO). This is not to mention the Libertarian party’s support of Islamic terror such as the recent attack on the Israeli Christian’s place in Ohio.

You guys are evil and it is natural that you hate a good man such as Ted Cruz.

“There’s no need to fear. Underzog is here.”

  7. The technology is so developed that we can watch videos, live streaming, TV serials and any of our missed programs within our mobiles and PCs. Showbox
All we need is a mobile or PC with a very good internet connection. There are many applications by which we can enjoy videos, our missed programs, live streaming etc.
